I can’t hardly believe. Paul Harvey has pasted on to glory and the Rest of the Story will have to wait till another time.
Today was not quite the Good Day I thought it was.

CNN and Opinion Research came out with a poll yesterday for the 2012 presidential and shows Alaska Governor Sarah Palin slightly edging out former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee and for Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney.
PRESIDENT – NATIONAL – GOP PRIMARY
Sarah Palin 29%
Mike Huckabee 26%
Mitt Romney 21%
Bobby Jindal 9%
Someone Else 10%
This poll was done February 18-19 among 429 Republican voters.
talk about whatever you want…
yes Friday the 13th was two weeks ago. Yet since February only has 28 days that means there’s another one in two weeks. Perhaps that is what the market fears?
Right now the market does not need any reason to fear. Obama has thrown uncertainty out there. The banks have to pass a stress test, deficits will be huge in the years to come, massive tax increases are being talked about and yes right top bankers are being forced to take huge pay cuts to continue working.Â
I always thought that Friday fell on the 13th twice every year except when it falls in February. Then its three times. When I worked for a major corporation I had one of those desk calendar sets with all the cycles of the years. You know  what I mean the one with the 1st on a Monday then Tuesday plus the leap year variations. Hey I went to public school but I think the calendar year can only have 14 variations. (7 regular and 7 leap years).
I am easily distracted. Have a nice evening.
Gary Locke for Commerce department. Former Washington governor and devoted Blue state guy. Another left coast liberal plus another Asian.
So if Gov. Sibelius gets the nod for HHS the number of Red Staters in the cabinet will be two. To the victor goes the spoils and what type of folks have Obama’s ear? Diversity in the Obama cabinet is a Washington state liberal offsetting a Californian liberal.
Netanhayu will certainly be Israeli PM. The only question is will it be a straight right wing coalition or whether Kadima will join a unity coalition with Shas & Lieberman’s party.
The Minnesota recount trail goes on and on. Coleman’s best pitch is to junk the whole process and have a do over. Not sure how that will come out. No news for awhile. Coleman lost a ruling the other day. No new ballots have been counted for over a month now and whatever happens at the lower court level will certainly be contested in the state supreme court, then probably Federal court and then a US senate fight.
Finally the Obama family has chosen a family dog. Its a Portuguese Water Dog or something like that. Another slap at America as good old America breeds like the Sheep dog, Labrador Retriever, Border Collie, St. Bernard or Daschund have been passed over. All this hoopla over this dog business and we get European. Whatever happened to Buy American??
The storied Rocky Mountain news will cease Publication this week. Story is here

What will the next Domino to fall? The Hearst Newspaper group is threatening to close the San Francisco  Chronicle. This is another storied paper and would leave SF as the largest city without a daily Newspaper.
Newspapers in Seattle, Miami  and Tuscon may be closing soon.  Papers in LA, Chicago, Minneapolis and Philly are in Bankruptcy. Yes I see it as a decline of the print business as many Americans fall out of the habit of reading a daily paper. I also see it as a decline of a liberal media. Yes I can remember when newspapers and TV news were unbias. Yes I can remember when TV news was down the middle. It leaned left a bit but was in the middle of the road.Â
Today the decline of sales to political liberalism is undeniable. Here in Memphis has been an mistakeable decline in circulation due to the political bias of the Newspaper. Yet they blindly print the same liberal stuff everyday.Â
Did anyone notice that our daily papers made a huge effort to jump start sales with an Obama push after election day? I suspect for everyone Obama follower who picked up a paper three were lost due to the Obama push.Â
 Pleasant dreams
Leftist website Daily Kos and Research 2000 have a new poll out for the state of Utah showing this as one US Senate seat that should remain comfortably in GOP hands next year.
US SENATE – UTAH (R2000/Daily Kos)
Robert Bennett (R-inc) 55%
Jim Matheson (D) 32%Robert Bennett (R-inc) 57%
Ken Jennings (D) 21%
Matheson is the Democratic congressman from Utah and Jennings is that guy who won Jeopardy. I didn’t realize he was even interested in running for the US Senate or was even a political figure to begin with. This poll was done February 23-25 among 600 likely voters.
Whether Kay Bailey Hutchison manages to beat sitting Governor Rick Perry or not in the primary doesn’t seem to hurt the Republican’s chances of holding this seat as both candidates hold double-digit leads over Democrat Tom Schieffer, according to Public Policy Polling.
GOVERNOR – TEXAS (PPP)
Kay Bailey Hutchison (R) 54%
Tom Schieffer (D) 30%Rick Perry (R-inc) 45%
Tom Schieffer (D) 35%
This poll was done February 18-20 among 1409 registered voters. Schieffer, from what I can tell, was a former state representative.
This is an issue thread, the role of Government Issue # 5.
What is the role of Government?
Libertarians and most Republicans advocate a minimal government. National Defense is a priority but after that the Government should limit its involvement economically, socially and in all other ways to the bare minimum of what is needed for a healthy economy and an orderly society. Ronald Reagan championed this view.
Big Government on the other hand champions a much larger role for Government. FDR was the model for a large federal government role. Obama is following the large Government model.

We do have an election next month that could begin to gauge whether the Republicans can start to make a comeback at all or whether they will spend even longer in the wilderness. Siena College put out a poll this morning to measure the candidates vying to replace Democrat Kirsten Gillibrand, who was elevated to take Hillary’s old US Senate seat.
US HOUSE – NEW YORK – CD20 (Siena)
Jim Tedisco (R) 46%
Scott Murphy (D) 34%
The article claims this district has a 15% edge for Republicans in registration. This poll as done February 18-19 among 710 likely voters. The election will be held March 31st.
