NH: Ayotte Leads Hodes By 7%

Wednesday, September 30th, 2009

Prospects of the Republicans holding Judd Gregg’s US Senate seat are bright if a new poll from American Research Group is to be believed.

US SENATE – NEW HAMPSHIRE (ARG)
Kelly Ayotte (R) 41%
Paul Hodes (D) 34%

This poll was done September 25-29 among 572 registered voters.

VA: McDonnell Surges To 9% Lead

Wednesday, September 30th, 2009

Well we have another poll for the Virginia gubernatorial race to throw into the mix. Here is the latest numbers from Scott Rasmussen showing McDonnell surging to a 9% lead, up 7% from a poll done just four weeks ago by Rasmussen.

GOVERNOR – VIRGINIA (Rasmussen)
Bob McDonnell (R) 51%
Creigh Deeds (D) 42%

This poll was done September 29th among 500 likely voters.

PA: Corbett Leads Top Dems

Wednesday, September 30th, 2009

Another poll out this morning from Quinnipiac University is for the gubernatorial race in Pennsylvania. In it, the top Republican candidate starts off the General Election in a strong position.

GOVERNOR – PENNSYLVANIA (Quinnipiac)
Tom Corbett (R) 47%
Dan Onorato (D) 28%

Tom Corbett (R) 44%
Jack Wagner (D) 29%

GOVERNOR – PENNSYLVANIA – GOP PRIMARY (Quinnipiac)
Tom Corbett 42%
Jim Gerlach 13%

GOVERNOR – PENNSYLVANIA – DEM PRIMARY (Quinnipiac)
Dan Onorato 14%
Joe Hoeffel 12%
Jack Wagner 11%
Tom Knox 5%

This poll was done September 21-28 among 1100 registered voters, 465 Republicans and 479 Democrats. The big thing I took from this poll is Corbett’s favorable ratings split are an impressive 43%/7%.

I am also hoping this poll means we will be getting new US Senate race numbers tomorrow from Quinnipiac University.

NJ: Christie’s Lead Shrinks To 4%

Wednesday, September 30th, 2009

The new poll from Quinnipiac University this morning shows Independent Chris Daggett continuing to gain support, appearing to take that support more from Chris Christie than Jon Corzine.

GOVERNOR – NEW JERSEY (Quinnipiac University)
Chris Christie (R) 43%
Jon Corzine (D-inc) 39%
Chris Daggett (I) 12%

I have sort of been assuming Daggett’s support would eventually crumble, but poll after poll lately has shown him moving into double digits and at this point, whomever wins the gubernatorial race in New Jersey will not get 50%. Yet I can’t believe a Governor with a disapproval rating of 58% can be re-elected. This poll was done September 23-28 among 1188 likely voters.

VA: McDonnell Crushing Deeds by 14%

Tuesday, September 29th, 2009

Completely and utterly contradicting the poll earlier today from Public Policy Polling, Survey USA is out with a new poll tonight showing Bob McDonnell with a 14% lead over Democrat Creigh Deeds.

GOVERNOR – VIRGINIA (Survey USA)
Bob McDonnell (R) 55%
Creigh Deeds (D) 41%

This poll was done September 26-28 among 631 likely voters. So two polls were done over basically the exact same time period (PPP had one extra day),one poll shows McDonnell ahead by 14% and the other shows him ahead by 5%. Clearly one of these pollsters is doing something very, very wrong….

AR: Lincoln Trails Four Republicans

Tuesday, September 29th, 2009

New numbers from Arkansas showing Democratic US Senator Blanche Lincoln trailing four potential Republican challengers, according to Scott Rasmussen.

US SENATE – ARKANSAS (Rasmussen)
Kim Hendren (R) 44%
Blanche Lincoln (D-inc) 41%

Gilbert Baker (R) 47%
Blanche Lincoln (D-inc) 39%

Curtis Coleman (R) 43%
Blanche Lincoln (D-inc) 41%

Tom Cox (R) 43%
Blanche Lincoln (D-inc) 40%

This poll was done September 28th, 2009. It would be nice for the GOP to start taking back some of these US Sneate seats in states that normally vote Republcian at the Federal level.

VA: McDonnell Leads By 5%

Tuesday, September 29th, 2009

As expected this morning, here is the latest data from Public Policy Polling for the hotly contested gubernatorial race in Virginia.

GOVERNOR – VIRGINIA (PPP)
Bob McDonnell (R) 48%
Creigh Deeds (D) 43%

This poll was done September 25-28 among 576 likely voters. According to PPP, the turnout for the election will be 37% D / 29% R / 34% Other. Hard to believe we are now a mere five weeks away from the elections in Virginia and New Jersey.

For a round up of all the public more polls from the state of Virginia, click here. Just an interesting note, of the 27 public polls I am aware of, Deeds has only led in one (Rasmussen June 10th) and was tied in another (Rasmussen December 4th).

Open Thread Tuesday!

One of my all-time favorites.

We are supposed to get a new poll from Public Policy Polling on the Virginia gubernatorial race this morning. Any predictions?

CA: Now That’s A Tough Ad

Monday, September 28th, 2009

Whether you support her or not, you have to admit this ad from fellow Republican Steve Poizner against Meg Whitman is a pretty powerful ad.

Seriously, 28 years without voting? Hasn’t she ever heard of absentee ballots?

Found at Political Wire.

AZ: Goddard Favored To Pick Up Seat

Monday, September 28th, 2009

Rasmussen stuck to his promise this time and released a new poll for the gubernatorial race in the state of Arizona.

GOVERNOR – ARIZONA (Rasmussen)
Terry Goddard (D) 42%
Jan Brewer (R-inc) 35%

Terry Goddard (D) 44%
Fife Symington (R) 37%

This poll was done September 27th among 500 likely voters.
