NC: Burr Leads Dems by Double Digits

Friday, January 29th, 2010

One poll to talk about this morning from Scott Rasmussen and North Carolina.

US SENATE- NORTH CAROLINA (Rasmussen)
Richard Burr (R-inc) 50%
Cal Cunningham (D) 34%

Richard Burr (R-inc) 47%
Elaine Marshall (D) 37%

This poll was done January 27th among 500 likely voters.

I am taking the weekend off, so I will have some pre-loaded open threads each morning. Hopefully will be back Sunday night.

IL: Kirk, Giannoulias Lead Party Primaries

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

Mark Kirk and Alexi Giannoulias continue to lead their respective party primaries (R/D) according to new polls from Scott Rasmussen.

US SENATE – ILLINOIS – DEM PRIMARY (Rasmussen)
Alexi Giannoulias 31%
David Hoffman 23%
Cheryle Jackson 13%
Someone Else 9%

US SENATE – ILLINOIS – GOP PRIMARY (Rasmussen)
Mark Kirk 53%
Patrick Hughes 18%
Someone Else 12%

This poll was done January 25th among 527 likely Republican and 300 likely Democratic voters. Not sure why there are so many more Republican voters than democrats considering how Democratic Illinois is.

IA: Grassley Crusing To Re-Election

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

Some afternoon polling from Scott Rasmussen for the state of Iowa.

US SENATE – IOWA (Rasmussen)
Chuck Grassley (R-inc) 59%
Bob Krause (D) 26%

Chuck Grassley (R-inc) 59%
Rozanne Conlin (D) 31%

Chuck Grassley (R-inc) 61%
Tom Fiegen (D) 25%

This poll was done January 26th among 500 likely voters. According to Scott’s email earlier today, we should be getting some updated Illinois primary numbers later today.

IL: Giannoulias Leads Kirk By 8%

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

A new poll from Public Policy Polling is out and shows Republican Mark Kirk trailing the most likely Democratic nominee Alexi Giannoulias to see who will eventually get Barack Obama’s former US Senate seat.

US SENATE – ILLINOIS (Rasmussen)
Alexi Giannoulias (D) 42%
Mark Kirk (R) 34%

Mark Kirk (R) 38%
Cheryle Jackson (D) 36%

Mark Kirk (R) 37%
David Hoffman (D) 36%

I was hoping Kirk would be a little closer than 8%, but still a long way to go. This poll was done January 22-25 among 1062 registered voters.

WI: Thomspon Would Beat Feingold

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

If Republicans could somehow convince former Governor Tommy Thompson to take on Democratic incumbent Senator Russ Feingold this year, they could pick off another seat from the Democrats according to a new poll from Scott Rasmussen.

US SENATE – WISCONSIN (Rasmussen)
Tommy Thompson (R) 47%
Russ Feingold (D-inc) 43%

This poll was done January 26th among 500 likely voters.

Oh, and good morning….

2012: Palin Leads GOP Field

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

Before we get to tonight’s speech, how about a look to the people hoping to take on Barack Obama in 2012. Democrat John Zogby teamed up with Newsmax and released new numbers on the Republican Presidential primary race for 2012. In it, Sarah Palin has a small lead over Mitt Romney with Newt Gingrich and Mike Huckabee also reaching double digits.

PRESIDENT – NATIONAL (Zogby)
Sarah Palin 22%
Mitt Romney 19%
Newt Gingrich 12%
Mike Huckabee 11%
David Petraeus 6%
Scott Brown 5%
Tim Pawlenty 5%
Jeb Bush 4%

This poll was done at some point among some number of voters that were not included in the article. Like previous years, I am not going to watch the speech. I’ll finish watching Villanova beat Notre Dame and then have a couple of DVR’d 24 episodes to watch instead….

Talk about it before, during and after the speech….

IL: GOP Would Beat Quinn

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

Following up on their primary polls yesterday, Public Policy Polling released a new poll for the General Election match ups for the gubernatorial races in Illinois.

GOVERNOR – ILLINOIS (PPP)
Andy McKenna (R) 42%
Pat Quinn (D-inc) 36%

Jim Ryan (R) 42%
Pat Quinn (D-inc) 35%

Daniel Hynes (D) 40%
Jim Ryan (R) 35%

Daniel Hynes (D) 38%
Andy McKenna (R) 36%

This poll was done January 22-25 among 1062 registered voters. While it would seem to be a great thing that the Republicans are beating the incumbent Governor, we did get another poll for the primary race from Scott Rasmussen that shows Pat Quinn may not even be able to make it out of the primary. Meanwhile, the GOP primary is still a jumbled mess.

GOVERNOR – ILLINOIS – DEM PRIMARY (Rasmussen)
Daniel Hynes 43%
Pat Quinn (inc) 37%

GOVERNOR – ILLINOIS – GOP PRIMARY (PPP)
Andy McKenna 20%
Jim Ryan 16%
Kirk Dillard 13%
Bill Brady 11%
Adam Andrzejewski 11%
Dan Proft 8%

Both these polls were done January 25th among likely voters.

PA: Toomey Opens Up 14% Lead Over Specter

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

I thought the Florida poll one post down would be it for this morning, but I did find a new poll from Franklin & Marshall College that shows Republican Pat Toomey opening up a huge 14% lead over Democratic incumbent Arlen Specter in the US Senate race in Pennsylvania.

US SENATE – PENNSYLVANIA (F&M)
Pat Toomey (R) 45%
Arlen Specter (D-inc) 31%

Pat Toomey (R) 41%
Joe Sestak (D) 19%

There are other numbers in the article, although the numbers above are the only ones that broke it down among likely voters. This poll was done January 18-24 among likely voters.
