MD: Mikulski Reaches 54% Against Generic Opponent

Saturday, February 27th, 2010

I normally don’t post polls involving generic opponents, but since it is my own home state, I am taking a liberty to do it this time. Scott Rasmussen has a new poll showing Barbara Mikulski ahead of a generic Republican candidate by 18%.

US SENATE – MARYLAND (Rasmussen)
Babs Mikulski (D-inc) 54%
Generic Republican (R) 36%

I always have hope, but barring an event that reflects badly on Mikulski or some candidate that is unknown at this moment , I doubt National Republicans are looking to pump too much money into this state. But then again, who knew who Scott Brown was or gave him even a remote chance before he pulled off an upset in Massachusetts….

YAY, a poll from my home state for once. Former Republican Governor Bob Ehrlich, who still has not announced whether he will run for Governor is within 6% of sitting Democratic Governor Martin O’Malley in a new poll from Scott Rasmussen.

NY: David Paterson Will Not Run For Re-Election

Friday, February 26th, 2010

I doubt he would have ever survived the Democratic primary anyway, but according to The New York Daily News, David Paterson will officially announce he will not serve another term as Governor of New York.

Embattled Gov. Paterson has pulled the plug on his election bid, a source close to the governor said Friday.

Paterson will announce the decision later Friday.

This really doesn’t change anything at point since Paterson was already going to be crushed by Andrew Cuomo in the Democratic primary.
