  1. Tommy_Boy says:

First of all, Obama is not at 45% in LA and Jindal is not at 64%. SMOR is one of those pollsters where everybody gets higher approval ratings than what they actually hold.

However, Vitter is still likely up 12.

  2. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

  3. Gary Maxwell says:

WAsnt Vittner suppose to be the most vulnerable R this time? Looks like an uphill climb for Charlie.

  4. MDefl says:

The D’s thought they could win this on morals. Think again. See Dodd,Burris, Rangel et al….

  5. MDefl says:

    GM,

Yeah, that is what they thought. LA will only get worse for them. Obama is going to pass something on HC reform and whatever that turns out to be will only make the D’s more unpopular. Vitter will have a 15% lead 3 or 4 months from now.

A huge tactical error on the paert of the DNSCC.

    CNN Obama approval: 55-43

“For the first time since he took over in the White House, Americans don’t see eye to eye with President Barack on the important issues, according to a new national poll… 48 percent of people questioned say that they agree with Obama on the issues that matter most to them, with 51 percent saying no.”

Five issues under 30% approval. None of the ten issues is a net positive. Only one of the ten is not showing a deterioration. Is it time to have another address to Congress? LOL

EPH I hope you were trying to be funny. I never lie, and it is usually the surest way to start an argument with me, as I consider my credibility something to be guarded carefully.

    Gary, He was clearly joking.

  22. Sean says:

I think all Obama needs to go under 50% is for the stock market to take another hit. If we have a double dip in the stock market (market down to around 8500 or less), then I’m guessing Obama’s approval will drop to the low 40’s.

  23. Tommy_Boy says:

Palin to go on Oprah on the 16th, one day before her book is released.

  24. Sean says:

If I were the GOP, I would have those clips of Obama and Biden saying that the economic recovery is well underway ready. My guess 2010 will be in the middle of the double dip, and GOP lawmakers will be able to use those clips against him kind of like the Dems were able to use “Mission Accomplished in Iraq” against the GOP.

  25. Phil says:

I looked at the internals on the CNN poll. First time in months they didn’t poll approval of Obamacare. Kind of strange. Could it be they just didn’t like the results? Just asking.

  26. Gary Maxwell says:

The Internal Revenue Service launched an inquiry into more than 100,000 suspicious claims for the first-time homebuyer tax credit, The Wall Street Journal reported Oct. 20.

Housing industry analysts have estimated that the credit has created 350,000 home sales out of the roughly 2 million homebuyers expected to receive the $8,000 benefit, the newspaper reported. There are 167 “criminal schemes” under investigation by the IRS, according to the House Ways and Means oversight subcommittee.

Lets put the government in charge of HC, what could possibly go wrong?

  27. 23. Gary,

No, I was doing my Joe Wilson

  28. Polaris says:

#25 I think all Obama needs to go under 50% is for the stock market to take another hit.

Sean, this is quite possible and in fact the smart money on Wall Street is expecting exactly that. Have you noticed how light the volume has been on this rally to 10,000? The normal investers are sitting this rally out and even selling into the rally at places. However the big money investers that got TARP money are dumping in the market rather than be forced to use it to made (in their mind) high risk loans.

Essentially this rally is govt induced smoke and mirrors.

  29. MDefl says:

The ins firms TV spots on how Obamacare will effect seniors is devastating.

They will pass something very minor but I know think it will be without mandates or the public option

  30. MDefl says:

BTW – I was more pessimistic before the recent ad blitz.

The squishy R’s now have a very good reason not to cave. It is a shame that the ins firms have to protect the interests of seniors. The AARP should fulfill that role but they have completely sold out to the radical left.

  31. Phil says:

Wow and double wow. I hope the Republican nominee Harry Reid’s seat is braced. According to Politico, Harry Reid is going to “vaporize” his Republican opponent with attack ads – defining them BEFORE they can define themselves. The article says he has the money – close to 10 million – and the desire to put away his opponent. The article says he’s been studying Corzine’s negative campaign and likes what he sees with the results so far.

Nothing surprising. It’s all he can do. Says he learned from the Daschle campaign that you have to hit early and hit hard. Said Daschle wasn’t negative enough.

Says Reid will do whatever it takes to destroy whoever Lofton or Tark – that he’s got a growing file of dirt on both – just waiting for the right time.

  32. Sean says:

Polaris, I really am feeling better and better about a GOP takeover of the House, and a regaining of an effective filibuster minority in the Senate. The thing though with the Senate, I have a feeling many of the GOP gains will add to the moderate caucus (Castle in DE, Kirk in IL, Simmonds in CT), but hey we’ll take moderates in the blue states. Obama will then be at a crossroads – he’ll either get the message that he needs to swing to the center, or he’ll fight the will of the American people. My guess he’ll fight the will of the people. And then, if, and only if the Republicans field a strong candiate, Obama may not be invinceable…

  33. Sean says:

Polaris, I’ve heard the same thing about the stock market rally… Thing is this fake rally will only make Obama own more and more of the economy.

  34. MDefl says:

    Phil,

The GOP needs to heed the warning. Hit him hard now and let his response be nothing but added noise.

Nevada is not NJ. A GOP candidate, even a tier B candidate, can beat someone like Reid in 10. Let’s have Reid waste millions of $ stolen by far left radicals.

  35. Tim V says:

    Eph,

Keeps your hands off Gary’s uterus.

  36. Phil says:

I just hope the Republican nominee is ready to respond. The GOP has going for it the fact that Reid is a big govt hack. With the lousy economy in Vegas you’d expect Reid to be down. I’d hate to see Reid be successful defining his opponent before our nominee even gets out of the gate.

  37. Tim V says:

    Obama truth – o -meter :

  38. MDefl says:

    Sean,

I have long been on record as predicting the R’s will gain +47 in the House and +6 in the Senate. As things stand today, my estimates may actually be conservative.

The “rebounding economy” is a complete mirage fueled by enormous gov spending that is going to and actually already is causing a massive devaluation of the $. I predicted that this would occur during a “sweet spot period when things would seem to be getting better.

We are close to falling off the cliff. Only the overall aggregate size of our economy has prevented a total collapse.

The sweet spot ends in 3 to 4 months. Then, all Hell will break loose.

  39. Tim V says:

Then, all Hell will break loose.

  41. Big D (The only Republican/Libertarian koz plant) says:

#43 I agree consumer spending is already incredibly weak. Christmas will be the last time many families spend money for awhile (and even then spending will be down). The post-Christmas holiday is going to be dismal after all the gift cards are used.

  42. Sean says:

Mdefl, I agree with your analysis. I’m feeling pretty good here in Colorado about a Senator Jane Norton, however I really was hoping for Ryan Frazier and believe in 2010, Frazier could beat Bennet. Here’s to hoping the GOP tide sweeps in Frazier in CO CD-7, and Frazier then is able to challenge Udall down the road.

  43. 36. TB,

Maybe I can get Chek to DVR it for us?

  44. Sean says:

Jane Norton described herself one time as a “McCain Republican”. I just feel that Colorado could elect a true conservative and I don’t know if Norton will fit that bill or not.

  48. Gary,

Would you mind if I only briefly touched your uterus?

  49. Sean says:

  53. MDefl says:

The deficit is so bad that the only way out is to inflate the currency. Every single thing is set up for a repeat of the late 70’s, only this time it will be worse.

    1. A bad job market
    2. Firm’s afraid to spend or innovate.
    3. A rapidly devaluing $ causing commodity inflation.
    4. A government endlessly printing money.
    5. Proposals for excessive regulation for well over 50% of the US economy.

I have never seen all these things line up at the same time – until the last 6 months.

  54. Tim V says:

    $4 gas is coming

  55. Sean says:

Mdefl, my gut is now saying Christie wins by 2 percent in New Jersey… The networks will call VA for Bob (Bob’s for jobs, remember), and the NJ race may go deep into the night.

  56. Wes says:

Call me a masochist: I just had to check out polipundit to see what was going on over there. Like clockwork, Obamahomoleaf was singing the praise of government-run health care and slobbering over the wonderful economy we have based on a better-than-expected showing by Apple stocks.

The only reason companies made money was because of the lay off. The idea that corporate profits are indication of an improving economy is total crap.

  60. MDefl says:

    Tim V,

Guess which POTUS did a 100 times more than the previous Pres in regards to AIDS funding in Africa?

    George W. Bush

He didn’t talk much about it per Bob Geldof but he provided action whereas Clinton talked about it all the time and did virtually nothing while he was Pres.

  61. Wes says:

Would you please go to polipundit and explain that to Obamahomoleaf, Chek? He seems too stupid to figure it out on his own.

  62. Phil says:

    Wes,
I truly hate Joke Leaf. Man, why do you do that to yourself?

  63. Wes says:

As I recall, MD, the heads of state in Africa were supremely ungrateful to Bush for that, saying they didn’t think the billions he was providing to them to battle AIDS would be enough.

  64. MDefl says:

    Wes,

Have you ever read Michener’s Centennial? Smokeleaf reminds me of a character callled Lone Eagle in that novel.

  65. Wes says:

I guess I must have a latent fetish even I’m unaware of to be tied up and tortured by a dominatrix, Phil; aside from advancing that as a theory, I really don’t know.

  66. Chekote says:

Bush did more for AIDS, human rights and women’s rights than Clinton or any Democrat. Dems just talk. Bush acted on it.

  67. Wes says:

I’d never heard of it till you just mentioned it, MD. I’ll have to check it out though. The blurb on amazon looks promising.

  68. MDefl says:

    Wes,

They were upset because Bush had provisions put in to ensure that the bananna dictators could not steal the $ for their personal piggy banks. It is one the few things Bush did right in his second term.

  69. Wes says:

Unfortunately, Chek, Bush never tried to take credit for his actions. Blunder #65,536 by Bush.

  70. Phil says:

I am convinced Joke Leaf spouts all that crap just to piss everyone over there off (all 10 readers that are left). Man, nobody could be that stupid on purpose.

  71. Wes says:

Well, since the money was intended to combat AIDS, Bush definitely did the right thing. Those ingrate bastards–whose countries’ GDPs combined don’t equal the amount of money Bush gave them–should be deposed and imprisoned.

  72. Tim V says:

Chekote, Did you read the “Race Detective ” comic ?

  73. MDefl says:

    Wes,

You will love it! Trust me. Michener also went to great lengths not to take sides politically although you can ascertain that he was liberal. Still, he may be the best story teller of the last generation.

  74. Chekote says:

I don’t know what happened to Oak Leaf. But after the 2006 election he changed.

  75. Wes says:

Um, Phil, have you ever paid attention to posts on this site by Alan, Aaron from Texas, Cory, KeyBored, Libertarian girl, LisaB, and Trolletta? We’re not exactly talking about people who would give Einstein any sleepless nights here.

  79. Chekote says:

What did Bush do for reproductive rights ?

Nothing. I wonder when pro-lifers will finally catch on to the fact that most politicians will only give them lip service. There is no incentive for ANY politician to actually criminalize abortion during the first trimester. It will NEVER happen.

  80. MDefl says:

I just started Alaska and it looks promising.

  81. Wes says:

I’ll check them out, MD. I read one of his books years ago. I can’t remember which one though. I remember thinking it had some great storytelling but seriously needed an editor for the writing. Then again, I’ve heard Michener was never known for grammatical structure.

  82. Chekote says:

the AP is behind in reporting this as the Fed-CBO-White house have all been projecting 10% unemployment for the next year or two or three. Economic projections beyond a year or two is hard but through 2010 -10% is the new norm.

I hate it as I met another fella the other day looking for a job. Its tough and I feel for folks.

I might Canada, Australia, China and some countries in Asia and Europe are now back to adding jobs. Due to Obama the USA is missing out on the recovery. I hate because as an American we should doing better economically.

  86. Wes says:

I take it great storytelling and horrible grammar is a general theme in Michener’s books then, MD?

  87. Wes says:

Does anyone have an early look at the RAS NJ poll?

  103. jason says:

“Are you ready to concede that the networks will not be projecting Christie as the winner a half hour after the polls close?”

Republicans are never called winnners half an hour after the polls close, only Democrats. But if Corzine is ahead in exit polls, there will be roundtables before the polls close about “why did Corzine do well”, and “42.3% of voters thought Christie was too fat to be governor”.

    PPP is leaking data again:

New Poll: 48% Of Republicans Say Obama Does Not Love America — 27% Say He Does
    http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2009/10/new-poll-48-of-republicans-say-obama-does-not-love-america—-27-say-he-does.php?ref=fpb

More than half of Republicans either say President Obama doesn’t love America or say they aren’t sure of his feelings toward the country he leads.

That’s according to a new national poll due out tomorrow from Public Policy Polling. The firm gave TPMDC an early look this afternoon.

PPP polled 766 registered voters nationwide. Of the GOP respondents, 27% agreed that Obama “loves America,” 48% disagreed and 25% said they weren’t sure.

  105. Chekote says:

    #100

It is just TimV’s way of letting me know that he missed me. :)

  106. Tommy_Boy says:

I’m feeling pretty good about this PPP poll. Correct me if I’m wrong but around 40% of Republicans thought Obama was a citizen in PPP polling.

If only 27% believe that he loves this country, then Obama’s GOP approval is probably 12% at best.

  107. Marv says:

Chek, hello. How have you been?

  108. Wes says:

What the hell kind of poll is that, Tommy?

  109. Wes says:

  111. MDefl says:

    Wes,

I have not had time to keep up with all the developments. I was just wondering.

  112. Darrell says:

104, not to mention that a single politician does not have the power to criminize something. It takes a body of legislators to pass a law, that would end up being challenged in the high court where the SCOTUS would decide constitutionality.

  113. jason says:

If the NJ vote is close the MSM will wait for Corzine’s operatives to scout out some cemeteries and come up with missing votes. Dead people can’t be prosecuted so its ok if they vote multiple times.

Years ago a candidate died (true story) died before the election, remained on the ballot, and was elected. The joke at the time was that while in NJ it was common for dead people to vote, it was the first time that dead people elected a dead man.

  114. Chekote says:

  115. Wes says:

Actually, MD, I’ve said previously I had the results backward: Deeds goes down in a half hour while Corzine gets to delay the inevitable for a little while.

  116. What did Bush do for reproductive rights ?

  117. Wes says:

You’re referring to the 2000 Missouri Senate race, Jason, between Ashcroft and Carnahan.

  119. Wes says:

So, eph, have you started a Draft Salvi for Senate–Again petition?

I beg to differ. The vision Obama has for America and the kind of society he wants to implement are directly related to his feelings about the country. The more people are convinced that his America is not the America the majority of the people want is central to defeating his agenda.

I don’t assign good or bad, or evil or not evil to his feelings, even right or wrong or good or bad intentions. But I am convinced his America is very different from my America.

Stimulating Competition: Candidate for New Jersey Assembly Hosts Sex Toy Parties for Living

Well, there are hundreds of pseudo-double speak that I could use to begin this story, but I guess I won’t… Jumping in Pools and the New York Daily News are reporting that Stefanie Velez-Gentry, a Republican candidate for the New Jersey state Assembly “makes a living hosting sex-toy parties.”

    From the Daily News:

One campaign for the New Jersey Legislature is off to an arousing start.
Stepfanie Velez-Gentry, a Republican from Bellmawr running for state Assembly, makes a living hosting sex- toy parties.

As the owner of Nookie Parties, she organizes gatherings for women and couples in which she sells sex toys, lotions, games, lingerie and other erotic items.

“It’s kind of like a Tupperware party, but with adult novelties,” the 29-year-old mother of two said.

Finally, New Jersey will get some help to lift up its economy!

  133. TimV,

I have added you to the “do not touch” uterus list.

  134. Phil says:

    Election night CNN

“With 91% of the precincts in, McDonell is presently ahead by approximately a 56-44 percent margin. The Republican is clinging to a razor thin 300,000 vote margin and our election desk continues to say this race is too close to call.”

  135. Brandon says:

    I’ll predict Ras has Christie +2, 45-43-10.

  136. MDefl says:

The flight attendant on this plane is a class A bit@h.

LOL! You will be a prophet I dare say.

She has now yelled at 10 people. I will have shut down lest I be yelled at as well.

  139. Big D (The only Republican/Libertarian koz plant) says:

“Totally destructive on the part of Republicans.”

Really it seems like PPP is trying to stir up trouble. In those polls PPP has talking points looking for data. All they had to do is come up with two people thinking Obama hates America or that he is not a citizen and they would have a headline reading “Polling shows Republicans thinking Obama is a foreign citizen that hates America”. Technically that would be true, wouldn’t it. Last weeks twitter leaks should discredit any analysis done by PPP. It is quite obvious that they go for the headline grabbing and the provocative in what they say. If they are accurate in years that D’s don’t do so well, maybe I will take a look at their polling for candidates, until then PPP is a Dem mouthpiece.

  140. MDefl says:

    Ras prediction – Christie +2.

  141. RAS Prediction:

    ZZZZZ + ZZZZZ = ZZZZZZZZZZ

  142. MDefl says:

    Agreed.

  143. OT – Does Fergie count as a MILF?

  144. Phil says:

    CNN election night:

One minute after polls close….. “Governor Corzine has won a stunning come from behind reelection victory by a razor thin margin. We can now confidently project this result based on our exit polling completed between 9 and 11 this morning”

  145. Marv says:

Obama collapses in Zogby Interactive (OK, I know it’s an online self-selected poll)

    49 (-3)/51 (+4)

  146. Darrell says:

    CNN Election night:

The Democtrats have retained the White House based on the projected exit polling in Florida, even though the polls have not yet closed in the panhandle.

–oh wait…they actually did that one in 2000.

  147. Brandon says:

There won’t be any official exit polling from NJ. The state supreme court ruled that it was illegal.

  148. Big D (The only Republican/Libertarian koz plant) says:

#157 so is voter fraud, but that doesn’t seem to matter.

  149. Phil says:

Ok then. “we project Governor Corzine the winner based on the fact that we’re totally in the tank”

They might as well just cut to the chase.

  150. Marv says:

    Brandon,

Does RAS release his state polls on the Premium page earlier than 5pm?

  151. Brandon says:

    #160. Nope.

  152. jason says:

“Benefiting from a 15 minute campaign stop by popular President Obama that turned his campaign around, Corzine has won a comfortable victory by 5,000 votes over his Republican rival, beset by weight problems throughout his campaign”.

“Ignoring warnings from many economists that higher taxes are urgently needed and pleas from women and minority groups that his election will set race and gender and sexual relations back a hundred years in VA, voters elected Bob McDonnell in a close race 55-45%”.

  153. Sean says:

I’m guessing Christie by 2… And the moves of votes from Daggett to Christie neutralizes the election fraud, and Christie by 2 is where we end up… And McDonnell by 10-12 in Virginia, with similar results for the other two races in Virginia.

  154. Cam Rep says:

    #154–

Do you really think CNN will wait until the polls actually close?

  155. Sean says:

The GOP will then have a bench. Either Bolling or Cuccinelli will be able to challenge Webb in 2012, and probably win.

  156. Tommy_Boy says:

C’mon guys, how many of you are part of that 48%?

I’m a proud member of that group. I suspect Obama’s overall percentage regarding “love his country” is 55%.

His approval/disapproval looks to be 49-50% in this month’s PPP poll.

  157. Bobby says:

Look at the deep red counties in NJ. They are small and will come in early. We will know how well Daggett is doing then.

  158. Charles says:

I will make a prediction, betting several of Skippy’s broken promises that Palin’s appearance on Oprah will break the ratings record. And blow right past whatever the mark is held by Obama’s appearances.

  159. Phil says:

CNN might actually wait until the Newark graveyard vote is actually counted.

  160. Darrell says:

169….exactly why Christie cannot mathematically win by 2%. If its that close the dead will be called upon to do their job and push corzine over the top, as the heavily Dem districts hold back until the end so they know what they need. At that point if Christie is up 5 points, they will say, forget it, and Christie wins by that much. If he is up only 2%, then Corizine will win by <500 votes.

  161. Marv says:

    #170 Eph

We must have the same sources.

  162. Marv says:

    News7/SUSA poll:

    McDonnell: 59
    Deeds: 40

    http://www.wdbj7.com/Global/story.asp?S=11347520#

  163. DrJay says:

R+1 there with indies 71-29 for McDonnell.

  164. DrJay says:

    71-27 actually

  165. Phil says:

    That is a racist poll.

  166. Jason T. says:

Phil, last weekend I watched all the Disney channel and Nickleodeon shows with my kids, and I was astounded by one common thing.

The White Boy is always the Idiot in every show. the Girls and minority kids are always super smart and cool, but the White Boy is the fool.

  167. Jason T. says:

Hopefully with McDonnel on the verge of a blowout, the Beltway RNC can use their brains and shift some big $$$ towards Christie.

  168. Darrell says:
