I hope Specter is the Dem nominee. He will be easy pickings for Toomey. As a blowhard lib incumbent, voters will be lining up to toss him out on his rear.

  4. MDefl says:

Toomey beats either candidate although Specter would be the easier race.

  5. rdelbov says:

This must be the lowest pressure poll in quite a while.

Will Specter waver on the public option??

  6. MDefl says:

    No RDel,

He has hitched his wagon 100% to Obama. He will live or die (most likely die) with Obama.

  7. Tommy_Boy says:

Obama is at 45% approval in PA in this poll

  8. Brandon says:

Wow, this is an awful poll.

  9. david says:

Perhaps, Spector will switch back to a Republican.

  10. MDefl says:

We won’t accept him. I was thrilled when he became a Dem. If you follow Pa politics closely, you saw it coming from a mile away.

  11. david says:

    #10, Mdefl….I don’t want him back either.

  12. MDefl says:

The GOP is going to crush the Dems in VA and McDonnell is going to have large coattails.
So much for the permanent realignment theory.

  14. MDefl says:

I didn’t think so David. I am glad he is their problem and not ours. Specter’s time has passed.

  15. david says:

four years makes a difference….four years ago, Kaine and Kilgore were neck to neck for the Va govenor’s race.

  16. MDefl says:

I have never seen so many factors line up in the GOP’s favor in PA as they are for the 2010 election. 94 does not even compare.

This is why I think that old timers like Murtha, “I never met a kickback I didn’t like” will be flushed out.

  17. Phil says:

Ok, if Quinn has it at 40/25 Party ID I can semi buy that. It’s NJ after all. PPP had it at D +13 which isn’t that different.

  18. rdelbov says:

The State supreme court race is actually important for future redistrictings. I know this is a snooze for some. The state supreme court in PA is 3R-3D with one open seat. This seat could tip the GOP to 4-3. The state supreme court selects a special Master to draw state house and senate lines for 2012-2020 time period. Right now the lines favor the GOP.

The Congressional lines are draw by the house and senate after the 2010 elections. Of course the GOV has a veto. The current lines also favor the GOP but you would hardly know it after the 2008 debacle.

  19. “Obama is at 45% approval in PA in this poll”

    -10 from 2008

    … 43% nationally then

  20. jason says:

I think Toomey has a better chance against Specter. Sestak is at traditional Democrat and will be able to rally the traditional Dem constituencies much better than Specter. I don’t see the Dem base getting excited about Specter.

  21. KnightHawk says:

“like Murtha, “I never met a kickback I didn’t like” will be flushed out.”

Wow now that’s some real optimism on your part.

  22. House Sparrow says:

2010 is going to be a fun year to be a Pennsylvania Republican. Specter wins a bitter primary against the obnoxious Joe Sestak, and goes on to lose to Toomey. Tom Corbett handily beats whatever lightweight ultimately wins the Dem Governor nomination. Rendell is poison now, and the Dems will lose their narrow hold on the state House.

The Dems have six highly-contested US House seats to defend (CDs 3,4,7,10,11 and 12), while the GOP has only Gerlach’s in 6. If the Dems manage to win three of those seven, they should call it a good night. Depressed Philly turnout, disillusionment with Obama and disgust with both Rendell the spender and Specter the opportunist liar will all be problems for the blue team.
