VA: McDonnell Dominates By 14%
We’ll start off what should be a fun day of polling results with the new numbers released early this morning for Virginia from Public Policy Polling.
GOVERNOR – VIRGINIA (PPP)
Bob McDonnell (R) 56%
Creigh Deeds (D) 42%
And despite being called an embarrassment to the state of Virginia by The Washington Post, Ken Cuccinelli has an even bigger lead over his Democratic opponent than McDonnell.
ATTORNEY GENERAL – VIRGINIA (PPP)
Ken Cuccinelli (R) 55%
Steve Shannon (D) 39%
If you thought Creigh Deeds ran a negative campaign, you should have seen some of the TV ads from Steve Shannon trying to smear Cuccinelli over the past week or so. They made Deeds seem downright positive. If you detest negative campaign ads and wish for more positive approaches to campaigns, then you should be very happy at the way the races in Virginia turned out. McDonnell and Cuccinelli ran overly positive campaigns throughout while Deeds and Shannon went all-negative, all-the-time since the day they won their party nominations and in the end, the two Republicans appear to be cruising to easy victories. Unfortunately, I wish the same thing were happening in New Jersey, but I guess negative advertising does work in some places.
This poll was done October 30-November 2 among 1457 likely voters.

No surprises at all, here.
Let me go ahead and be the first here to congratulate the GOP on what should be a good night in Virginia, tomorrow.
Tim,
It takes a big man to do that.
I wonder when Carville comes out with his NJ poll? Will it show Corzine with a lead of double digits?
It’s got to be the morning after. blah, blah, blah, blah, blah
Crying, sobbing hysterically…..
VA – old news- those races are over with as is NY 23.
NJ – is very interesting. The PPP gets the Corzine toll gaffe as well as part of Daggett’s lie. Christie has hammered Corzine on the gaffe issue. Also, the Obumbler has just visited NJ and the Campaign Spot has pointed out that each time he does this, Corzine’s #s go down further.
The Electorate appears to be anti-Obumbler.
Quinnipiac
Christie 42%
Corzine 40%
Daggett 12%
A net 7 point change for Quinn (from their last poll)?
I will wait for Ras.
I also am looking for a VA sweep. I have been thinking +10 all for McDonnell. I guess that number has been run over.
It reminds me of an old slogan. Perhaps I should think a little more and vote for Gore. That’s sounds odd.
Wow, that’s big….a 7 point swing for Christie on the Quinn poll….
Whoops, I plagiarized Tina…glad I used “swing” instead of change hopefully she will won’t sue…
Negative campaign ads…
Well, sounds familiar here in Italy.
Morning everyone. Holy smokes! 7 point swing for Christie in Quinn? YIKES! Of course I haven’t looked at the internals but it is something probably like D +15.
There is nothing like having a little momentum the day before the election…..and Christie has it…
It should be no higher than D+8 imo, if that high.
I should have added that the electorate for these races (not just NJ) appears to be anti-Obumbler.
“I wonder when Carville comes out with his NJ poll? Will it show Corzine with a lead of double digits?”
The time for spinning is over…all the pollsters want to be close to the actual result now so even Carville doesn’t want Democracy Corps to turn into Democracy Corpse.
New thread…
I may sue for use of Democracy Corpse.
“I should have added that the electorate for these races (not just NJ) appears to be anti-Obumbler.”
This is absolutely not true.
1. Deeds will lose because he didn’t tie himself close enough to the Messiah and refused to embrace the public option.
2. Corzine will lose because right wing racists eviscerated Acorn and kept tens of thousands of disenfranchised and minority voters from the polls due to intimidation tactics.
3. Owens will lose because of Fox News and Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHE – #19!!!!
Are you serious?
Virginia could actually be a little worse for Deeds. PPP has the party ID tied. In 2006 the party ID was R+3 in a Democratic wave year. Just saying….
Are you serious?~~~TINA
If he was he would have to committed.
…just a sidenote, PPP for VA was conducted over the weekend.
