NY: Giuliani Leads Gillibrand By 14%

The New York Daily News is claiming Rudy Giuliani has decided to run for the US Senate, although no one else is confirming that information. If he does, he would start out with a double-digit lead over sitting Democratic incumbent Kirsten Gillibrand according to Marist College.

US SENATE – NEW YORK (Marist)
Rudy Giuliani (R) 54%
Kirsten Gillibrand (D-inc) 40%

Giuliani has said he will not run for Governor. According to this same poll, Giuliani would have crushed the sitting incumbent Governor David Paterson.

GOVERNOR – NEW YORK (Marist)
Rudy Giuliani (R) 60%
David Paterson (D-inc) 35%

Andrew Cuomo (D) 53%
Rudy Giuliani (R) 43%

This poll was done November 16-17 among 805 registered voters.

  2. Daniel G. says:

Quote from Rep. Pete King (R) last Night:

Rep. Peter King (R-N.Y.), who spoke at length with Giuliani after a campaign fundraiser last night, told POLITICO that he had no inside information about Giuliani’s political future, but did think it would make sense for him to pursue the Senate race.

“It makes sense for Rudy to run for Senate, because these are the issues he’s been focusing on — international issues, national security. He really has a lot to say. On the other hand, Rudy’s background is as an executive,” King said.

“I can see him wanting to run for president again, and doing the Senate race would position him well for that…. the Senate would be a great opportunity to keep him in the public eye — keep him in the national attention more, rather than in the narrow prism of the governorship.”

Well, the NY Daily News is claiming almost excatly Kings Quote.

All i hear is that religious conservatives turn off indies, now its fiscal conservatives? What the hell else is there

  4. MDefl says:

Great news on that NY poll but not a surprise IMO. Gildy has been vulnerable since day one.

I would say that Sarah P could help Rudy in rural NY but I don’t think he will need the help.

Sarah can focus on MO and a ton of house races.

Go Rudy go…. let Pataki run for Governor again….although he has been there, done that several times

t is part affirmative action, partly because Rubio is the conservative candidate and partly because it is high time the repubs made inroads into Hispanics and Asian communities. They are dead with the African American community.

Palin is on an absolute roll. The left hates her yet is desperate fro her to give them some attention. The lady is strong. I was against the move to resign as Gov but I can see now that she knew what she was doing.

  9. MDefl says:

    Pitch,

Who made the term “death panels” a household phrase?

  10. pitchaboy says:

Is Geitner’s head about to roll? Dems are calling for it and the Obama bus is cranking up to claim its next victim.

I just got Palins book today. Planning on reading it sometime tonight.

Geithner, Paulson and Bernanke should be in jail.

Reps should announce congressional investigation into TARP and bailout around summer of next year.

  14. rdelbov says:

Here’s an answer as to whether Rubio is an affirmation action candidate for the GOP because he is Hispanic. Sam may be tongue in cheek on this but I will take the bait. If Crist and Rubio were policy clones but one of the two is Hispanic. I say take the Hispanic.

I am all about the GOP putting forth candidates who are female/hispanic/AA/Asian who articulate conservative viewpoints.

I don’t say alot about this but frankly the GOP has been a little bit too Southern & Western on its Presidential tickets. Since 1996 we have been Southern & Western. You can be a Gregg (from NH) and articule conservatism just well as say a Cheney or a Palin. As a Southerner I fully admit that Ted Kennedy grated on my ears but the GOP is a national party and needs candidates from sea to shiny sea. Diverisity among sexes and the various races is a plus too.

That Keebler elf shouldn’t have been nominated in the first place.

  16. pitchaboy says:

Deathpanel was a brilliant phrase coined by Palin. While you can argue it misrepresents facts(although in my specialty, denial of care+death), it was the first nail in what will be the coffin for Crappycare as it struck a chord with seniors immediately. The reason Obama is at 33% with seniors is the death panels. Every senior citizen patient of mine is vehemently against Obamacare, believe it may pass, and are determined to kick dem asses out in 2010. SCORE ONE FOR PALIN

When you deny Nexavar to a patient with liver cancer, you are hastening his death. Chek, you can argue that Palin is not ready to bbe President and I will see your point of ivew. However, it is inarguable that she has enormous political instincts.

Chek, as a medical professional, I am all for evidence based medicine. However, when the government is the only sheriff in health care town, evidence will be manufactured to suit medical decisions and doctors will have no say as Big Bro will be looking over their shoulders. God forbid, you fall ill, you dont want a civil servant as your doctor.

  25. sam says:

Geithner, Barnanke and Paulson have made Treasury and wall Street complicit partners in stripping all productive assets out of America.

  26. sam says:

I think the slogan for the 2010 elections should be:

    IMPEACH EVERYONE.

  27. Darrell says:

“Death Panels” was COMPLETELY accurate, and the truth is, if Rudy Giuliani had coined the term, and it had the same positive effect on the debate, then Chek would be singing its praises.

  28. Chekote says:

When you deny Nexavar to a patient with liver cancer, you are hastening his death.

You can talk about rationing without conjuring up images of down syndrome babies being hauled before death panels.

  29. Chekote says:

if Rudy Giuliani had coined the term

I would have said that Giuliani is a demagogue too.

  30. jason says:

    “Completely irresponsible. Total demagogue.”

Why exactly??? When Obama said “maybe instead of a hip replacement grandma should just take pain medication” when the doctors recommended a hip replacement, who do you think will be making the decision? Government bureaucrats, aptly termed death panels.

I don’t agree with everything Palin says, but she was right on the money with the death panels. Call them golden sunset panels or endless horizon panels if you want, but that’s what they are.

  31. Chekote says:

    This is want Palin said”

The America I know and love is not one in which my parents or my baby with Down Syndrome will have to stand in front of Obama’s “death panel” so his bureaucrats can decide, based on a subjective judgment of their “level of productivity in society,” whether they are worthy of health care. Such a system is downright evil.

She said that Down syndrome babies “will have to stand in front of Obama’s death panel”. She is not talking about the results of rationing. Totally irresponsible.

  37. JulStol says:

KOS PLANT ALERT!!! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!

  38. Darrell says:

I can easily envision federal healthcare making quality of life decisions on downs syndrome babies. That is not outrageous at all. Its all about MONEY. When, not if, when the federal healthcare system collapses under its own weight, rationing will come. If there is only enough money to treat a certain number of people, some will be left out. People with Downs require a lot of expensive care, depending on how bad the case is. From the fed perspective, if they could let die a downs baby, they would saving 60+ years of healthcare costs, then it is a sound fiscal decision to deny care. After all, such babies should have been aborted. Its not a stretch AT ALL.

  39. Darrell says:

40…good point. We never get that from the left do we?

  40. BayernFan says:

I mean, only the other side gets to demagogue issues like Social Security, etc? Where in the rulebook does it say we don’t get to use iit back on them? I am sorry, but Death Panels may be a bit demoguish, but it does crystallize the issue. It is more accurate than the Dems making a meal out of the canard that conservatives are racists (when liberal are the racists) and want to cut seniors’ SocSec benefits (when it is liberals that want to cut medicare). I am glad that she did that. Totally effed em up on the other side.

  41. Darrell says:

  42. Darrell says:

and don’t forget Ted Kennedy’s Robert Bork speech.

  43. BayernFan says:

By the way, there will probably some sort of appeal process when your Down baby is denied care. And yes, it will probably involve supplicating to a team of bureaucrats who will decide whether your baby lives or dies. A death panel, if you will.

Dems’ “health care” plan involves death panels.

    And everyone knows it.

  51. LA Cajun says:

It doesn’t matter what the polls say now. If Palin runs in 2012, she will be tough to beat. She connects with voters like no other since Reagan. She is by far the most charismatic of all potential GOP candidates. Right now voters are not focused and they are being swayed by the negative caricatures of the left and the elitist inside the beltway republicans pushing the likes of Crist. Palin has been nailing all of her interviews. During the campaign everyone focused on the poor Gibson and Couric interviews, but totally ignored the fact that she kicked Biden’s butt in the VP debate and will do the same to Romney and Huck. By the time 2012 rolls around, Palin will be looking very good.

Are u going to stop them? Let me know when that happens.

No free rides for the Left. If they can dish it out, then they better get ready to take it.

By the way, the Left is pissed at Palin not just because of Death Panels, but because IT WORKED.

And I say good for her. I WANT GOP figures to punch the other side in the mouth.

    Yes

    Just like that

Demamgogue it till the cows come home, without apology to anyone

  57. Wes says:

GPO, let me clarify what I was saying last night about the CFG: It’s IDEAS do not turn off voters. It, however, only requires agreement with its political positions to support a candidate. Whether or not the candidate is a capable campaigner is something it apparently doesn’t look at. To wit: Bill Sali in Idaho was an uncharismatic loon who got sidetracked on a bunch of extraneous issues and lost to Walt Minnick despite the GOP bent of his district and McCain’s victory there. thus, it is not what the CFG-backed candidates espouse that costs them elections but the fact that all too often the candidates themselves are damaged goods who can’t connect with voters on a deep enough level to prevail against serious Dem opponents.

  58. Wes says:

Well, MFG, I don’t want to sound too optimistic, but the Senate hasn’t had double-digit flip in nearly 30 years. With the current confluence of events, it is becoming increasingly possible for such a thing to happen again.

  59. Phil says:

Not California but Wisconsin if Thompson runs.

My problem with the GOP is recruiting – always has been – add to Thompson the following:

    Hoeven
    Giuliani
    Huckabee

all slam dunks IF you could get them to run. Big IF when you are talking Republicans. Dems? They usually get their candidate. That’s one of the reasons we’re in the shape with the present senate numbers that we’re in.

  60. MDefl says:

    Pitch,

Since you are a physican, I place a lot of weight on your view. You believing that Palin had a lot of influence with the term “death panels” confirms my thinking.

  61. MDefl says:

    MFG,

The Demoguagery is justified. Go ask a 62 year old in the UK with breast cancer what they think. There is too much at stake and the American people have a right to know the consequences in an unvarnished manner.

Phil, Boxer hasn’t exactly been endearing herself to Kah-lee-for-nee-ans, and Fiorina has been impressive recently in her TV appearances. Assuming the GOP doesn’t go all ideologically pure out there and nominate DeVore, I think Boxer can be defeated in a GOP tidal wave.

  65. Darrell says:

60…that was my point. Palin could have gone further and it wouldn’t have hurt my feelings. Rudy G did some of that kind of talk at the GOP convention which is why his was one of the best speeches.

We need to wear brass knuckles and start punching.

GOP has been dying for a John Wayne candidate who will punch first and laugh afterward.

  69. Wes says:

I’m aware, Jason. Dems must be quaking right about now. I wonde rwhen the Ras is going to release his poll on this race. He teased it yesterday, but it seems not have surfaced as yet.

It turns out that our John Wayne comes in at 5′5, 120 lbs .

  73. Wes says:

Kennedy should have highlighted that in his race against her last year, MFG. He probably would have won had he done so.

  74. MFG says:

    Therefore, theoretically possible:

    Is an 11th possible?

  75. MDefl says:

    JT,

In this case, I think Beck is right. The books are cooked already. Let’s make them own it and kick some butt in 10.

That is the best we can do right now, sadly.

  76. Wes says:

He reminds me of Phil this time last year, Jason.

  77. Wes says:

    North Dakota, MFG.

  78. MFG says:

McCain wins LA by 19 and Kennedy loses to Landrieu by 4

    Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr…

  79. Wes says:

Washington and Vermont could also be sleeper races if the GOP gets the right candidates in both places.

  80. MFG says:

  82. MDefl says:

    Therefore, theoretically possible:

Win CO NV IL PA CA NY AR DE WI CT to go +10

    Is an 11th possible?

    MFG

Isn’t Conrad running in ND? Anything is possible although it would be a 22 standard deviation even for all 11 to come in. I can see 7 or 8 especially if Palin is used properly in each states ex-burbs. This also includes CA where there are very strong pockets of GOP. She will increase turnout in those areas.

  83. Jason T. says:

Md, with all respect, you were pretty grim on christie too.

  84. Wes says:

Admittedly I don’t live in Louisiana, MFG, but from what I understand when Landrieu was casting politically unpopular votes, Kennedy didn’t call her on it. I’m guessing that was a huge factor in his loss.

  85. MDefl says:

Washington and Vermont could also be sleeper races if the GOP gets the right candidates in both places.

    Wes,

King County always holds back some “votes” just in case. Go ask Rossi about that.

  86. Jason T. says:

Conrad gets cover all the time. This clown is a vote for Socilaism.

    Hoeven is a wimp

  87. Wes says:

I’m aware, MD. New Jersey does the same, but Corzine didn’t exactly benefit from that, did he?

  88. Jason T. says:

Everything the MSM say about Palin, they said about Reagan

  89. MDefl says:

    JT,

I most certainly was. Thrilled to have been wrong but I still remember most here thinking HC would not pass the House. There were holdouts up to the very end. I think the admin is offering positions to senators should they lose their seats over a yes HC bill. That way they have somewhere to land. The same will be true with amnesty. That is coming next.

  90. Brandon says:

McCaskill has a 42/45 approval rating according to the PPP poll. She can be had in 2012 with a strong candidate.

  91. Wes says:

Conrad’s not up till 2012 and is tarred by an ethical cloud. Dorgan is up next year and is scared to death of a Hoeven challenge.

  92. Brandon says:

#95. That’s why I think Hoeven is waiting for Conrad. It’s an easier race.

  93. Jason T. says:

Hoeven could stop HC if he declared against Dorgan now.

  94. Wes says:

From what I understand, Brandon, the Dems seriosuly tried to take out Sam Graves in 2008 to prevent just that. They failed, and Graves has made no secret of a desire to serve in the Senate someday. It looks as if 2012 will be his year.

  95. Jason T. says:

Md, the house was a no brainer it would pass. 258 Seats

  96. MFG says:

Wes, Landrieu family has been in politics since the 60’s, well known, her dad was mayor of New Orleans her brother has held office as well, she’s attractive, quite personable (I had the misfortune to meet her once) and she has this “What me, a liberal?” routine down to an art form. Frustrating as hell

I had urged Bobby J to run against her and he probably would have beaten her, but he was dead set on running for Governor

And the R bench here is now fairly thin

    Opportunity lost…

  97. Wes says:

If Dorgan votes against his constituents on this, Jason, I think Hoeven will definitely jump in.

  98. MDefl says:

    JT,

Yep – Reagan was either a Hollywood buffoon (which they had to stop using because it was a cut on themselves) or a dangerous cowboy (he was from IL?) intent on destroying the world. He had no intellectual depth and clearly did not understand any of the issues. He was not well read and had a messed up family life (divorce in his case).

This all sounds very familar now, doesn’t it?

The only thing man learns from history is that man learns nothing from history.

This story get more play in the media if it was Palin’s daughter instead of Kerry’s daughter?

Then again, Kerry is no Palin.

  100. Wes says:

Better luck next time, MFG. If Obama’s reelected in 2012, then she’ll probably on their short list of vulnerable seats. Since 2012 would be the Dem six-year itch in that case, Landrieu could well fall then to a solid candidate.

  101. Diamond Jim says:

Thompson versus Feingold would be sweet since I think Thompson could win.

  102. MFG says:

Well, the thinking is Bobby J runs against her in ‘14, takes her out and then picks his spot to run for POTUS

Hopefully it plays out that way

  103. LA Cajun says:

The problem with Kennedy is that he had been a Democrat and switched to Republican right before the election – he is a weak candidate who ran an awful campaign and still managed to get within 4 of Mary. Landrieu has been through three Senate elections and squeaked by in all 3. The first one was actually stolen on election night in Orleans parish. There was a huge recount that took weeks to resolve. By that time the fix was on in Orleans where the polls were allowed to stay open way beyond the 8:00 pm closing time.

  104. Jason T. says:

MD, I will go door to door for Palin. She is our only true fighter.

  105. MFG says:

    LA Cajun

It’s a shame those bastards stole that 1996 race from Woody Jenkins, isn’t it?

He would have been a great Senator

  106. Jason T. says:

Hard for me to worry about 2014. My thoughts are too stopping socialism now.

  107. MFG says:

    Agreed

    Stop HellCare

Wipe out the Communists in ‘10 are the top two priorities

  108. Wes says:

According to Michael Barone, had Jenkins not had to spend all his money to finish first in the jungle primary, he would have been able to wage a better campaign against Landrieu. As it was, she beat him by less than half a point.

  109. Daniel G. says:

    WHY??????

  114. MFG says:

    Landreiu stole that race Wes

Ed Renwick a local pollster who is virtually never wrong, had Woody winning that race by 5 in his last poll

Woody is a hell of a guy, does lots and lots of charitable stuff that he never allows anyone to call attention to also

  115. Wes says:

Why the hell would the GOP want to keep Coburn from doing that?

  116. BayernFan says:

that sucks. I guess they want to lose…

the same feeling i had when i heard that mccain was suspending his campaign.

  117. MFG says:

Jason 115, got a link to that?

  118. Wes says:

I’ve heard that, MFG. I’m just reporting what Barone wrote in the Almanac of American Politics. Of course he does excuse Robert C KKK Byrd’s Klan past and make excuses for Lautenberg’s 2002 Senate win, so take it for what it’s worth.

  119. BayernFan says:

OK fine. Just pass Socialized Health Care, then visit Holy Hell upon the Dems in ‘10. And just laugh and laugh and laugh at all the urbane young Obama voters when they find out that they have to spend $thousand$ to get minimum coverage or be herded onto the Govment insurance plan.

  120. LA Cajun says:

110 – MFG – Not sure that Jenkins would have been great, but certainly better than Landrieu and I doubt that he frequents brothels either.

Obamacare must be stopped even if the GOP Senators are a bunch of pussies, Bay.

  123. Gary Maxwell says:

It turns out that our John Wayne comes in at 5?5, 120 lbs

Yeah but he punches above his weight!

  124. MFG says:

    What a disgrace that was

That was probably a bigger disgrace then Landrieu – Jenkins

  125. MDefl says:

    JT,

You and I have battled in the past but we are in absolute agreement on Palin. I, too, will go door to door and walked on hot coals for her.

She brings together 98% of our party.

  126. Jason T. says:

Wes, reading the entire 2000 page bill on the floor, it would delay for 2 more weeks.

Coburn wanted to do it, but the RINO pussies said no

  127. MFG says:

Woody is a really good guy LA Cajun

    I know him very slightly

  128. Wes says:

Does it really matter if a Senator frequents brothels, LA? I mean, as long as he represents your interests in Congress, why should you really care if he pays hookers or escorts for services?

  129. Jason T. says:

MD, if a Public Option and amnesty pass, I fear a Revolution

  130. Wes says:

that just doesn’t make any sense to me, Jason. I’m about to send an e-mail to the NRSC to express my displeasure. I’ll be right back.

  131. Jason T. says:

Reid has set a vote for Cloture Saturday Night on Debate.

    What sneaky bastards

  132. MFG says:

    Thanks Jason

Dear God, do any of these people have any balls…???

  133. Jason T. says:

it is all over Freerepublic, posters there want heads

  134. pitchaboy says:

Beck is a pessimist and if you believe him, ther is no hope for this country. Frankly, I have tuned the guy out. I do admit he makes some great points and predicted the financial turmoil much before September 2008. But it is hard to listen to his daily dose of strychnine.

  135. MFG says:

He was just digging on Vitter I guess

  136. Jason T. says:

Mfg, its like a Medal of Honor winner getting shot by his own troops.

  137. MFG says:

    Jason

Seniors will never put up with the rationing

You could see significant civil disobedience

  138. Jason T. says:

    Beck said Christie was toast

  139. MFG says:

What if doctors just refused to go along…???

  140. Gary Maxwell says:

Oh my word, Hannity did not just get to first place in the ratings, he killed OReilly the perenially leader. It was over a million viewers more. Lots of folks talking about this round the old watercooler.

Wont it chap liberals and ? to have to deal with President Palin for 8 years!!!

  141. Jason T. says:

they want this passed before XMAS, hoping the american Idol public will forget.

    Where is Patrick Henry?

  142. MFG says:

He should not only READ the bill on the floor; he should read it SLOWLY and SARCASTICALLY with COMMENTARY

    Spend a week doing that

  143. Wes says:

Here’s a copy of the e-mail I just sent to Senator Cornyn:

What the hell are you guys thinking? Tom Coburn wanted to read the entire damn bill on the floor to both educate Americans about it and delay action on the bill. You pussies in the GOP Senate conference made him back off that though. Thus far, Senator Cornyn, I’ve been impressed with your performance as head of the NRSC, but if you seriously expect donations from me and others who want to see you prevail next year as I do, then you few remaining GOP Senators had better have a serious gameplan to stop Obamacare. Otherwise, you can repeat 2006 and 2008 for all I care.

  144. Wes says:

I get that, MFG. My point was that although Vitter did that, it was his private life. As long as it didn’t affect his job performance, I really don’t see why anyone would care.

  145. BayernFan says:

Senators wouldnt read the bill. Clerks do that.

  146. Jason T. says:

Wes, well said. Will Cronyn put down his Martini?

  147. Wes says:

A Senator can read the bill as part of a filibuster, Bay. Hell, a Senator can read a phonebook–and many have done so–as part of a filibuster.

  148. Jason T. says:

Wes, I am sorry but I think a Bi=Partisan Fix may be in, just like they helped elect Obama

  149. wylie e. coyote - patriotic american citizen says:

#124 I would agree these would be positive side effects of CrappyCare….

However, the early deaths of millions of people from rationing, the total devestation to our economy, the massive loss of personal freedom/individual rights, and the transformation of our society and politic more then offset what ever bit of short term personal pleasure I would get from see the D lose one election in 2010 or watch the “Obama Youts” get shafted with the bill….

The only moral and correct thing to do is to oppose this travesty with every weapon in your political and legal arsenal….

I will be contacting Senator Colburn and urge him to continue to stand on his principle and fight as never before….

He seems to be the one person up there who actually really gets what is at stake here…..

  150. jason says:

    “Totally irresponsible.”

Sorry, Chekote, nothing irresponsible about it. I don’t know about Down babies, but for sure Obama was talking about pulling the plug on grandma when he suggested someone other than her doctors are to decide on treatment. If its not the family and not the physician, its the government.

So the Death Panel references are true, accurate and real.

For years we heard how Bush wanted to destroy social security, wanted to destroy the environment, and how his policies caused 9/11 and even Katrina. THAT was irresponsible.

  151. MFG says:

    I like Vitter

He crusaded against Edwin Edwards when it was political suicide to do so

I supported him for US Senate when people were laughing at the idea of him being elected to that post

I convinced friends to support him, so I’m all aboard the Vitter bandwagon myself

  152. Phil says:

Wes, nice email. I’m sending them one of my own tonight before I turn in. It will be along the lines of what you wrote but I’m going to wait a little while to cool off first. It would be laced with profanity if I tried to send it now!

  153. MFG says:

LA 1 has produced Jindal, then Vitter, will Scalise end up going somewhere politically…???

  154. pitchaboy says:

The doctors cannot afford to accept public option and will not take it until it is the only game in town. At that time, it will be single payor and civil servants. Even without Crappycare, when the Medicare cuts go through next year, a lot of doctors will sign off Medicare. Then CMS will have only two choices: increase reimbursements and deficit finance it or raise taxes. If you really study the problem, the root cause if government programs of medicare and medicaid which are poorly funded mandates.

  155. Wes says:

Jason, I don’t think Cornyn himself was behind making Coburn back down. It was probably McConnell who pressured him. Still, Cornyn needs to stand up for what Coburn wanted to do for political reasons if not necessarily for philosophical ones.

  156. Jason T. says:

Phil i will too. If the fix is in, I will never send another Check to the GOP

  157. a. sullivan says:

“This story get more play in the media if it was Palin’s daughter instead of Kerry’s daughter?”

IT WAS PALIN’S DAUGHTER. THE POLICE FAKED THE DOCUMENTS AND SAID IT WAS KERRY’S DAUGHTER. IT’S AN OBVIOUS CONSPIRACY.

  158. MFG says:

    LOL!

    Well done, Andrew

  159. Wes says:

Letting the Dems pass Obamacare is the one thing we DO NOT NEED right now.

  160. Jason T. says:

If the Fix is in Saturday Night, and their is no Warrior battle type opposition to this cloture vote, then the GOP is dead.

Conservatives, after watching the garbage called 2008, will not sit by and let the Seante GOP not fight.

  161. Wes says:

    Hehe, A S.

  162. Phil says:

Do any of you guys ever get the idea that we’re being played as stooges by our inside the beltway GOP elite?

I hate to think about it.

  163. Wes says:

With absolutely nonsensical decisions like this, Phil, I sometimes wonder.

  164. Jason T. says:

this has to be delayed until 2010, otherwise the American Public will forget this lunacy.

  165. Jason T. says:

Saturday Night is my last call Phil. If they cannot Kill this thing by getting a endangered Red State incumbent to back them, then the fix is in

  166. Wes says:

With all these sources seemingly confirming it, it’s hard not to see Rudy running at this point. What will Pataki do in that instance though? Will he run for Governor again or take the more politically risky route of challenging Schumer?

  167. AlN says:

C’mon, Chekote, sometimes you become very hard to defend! I really do see your points on many things, but you are WAY off in criticizing Palin for her “death panel” remark. For one thing, she was totally correct. Obama’s mentality totally fits with the “death panel” culture, as demonstrated when he was the ONLY senator to vote against the “Born Alive” act. Plus, as has been documented many times, there are ALREADY death panels — in Oregon, where their “assisted suicide” (which fits with Obama’s respect for human life) has led to REAL death panels:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=70KcaXbkJw4

If that isn’t enough, there is the strategic value of what Palin said in pointing out the death panels. As one poster said, if HC fails, Sarah Palin and her death panel insertion into the debate will get a lot of the credit for HC’s failure. Have you actually missed how Obama himself even attacked Palin for this? She’s really got them rattled! While some on this thread suggest that you are a liberal “plant”, and I almost always get frustrated by such accusations at you. But on this particular issue, I have to ask: “Whose side are you on?” Death panels are devastating Obama and his plans, and you attack the one who coined the term!

  168. Daniel G. says:

    Wes,

My bet either Rudy announces on the weekend or early next week – possibly Monday.

  169. Wes says:

    Probably so, Daniel.

  170. Wes says:

With Rudy in, that could cause top-tier Republicans in Wisconsin and North Dakota to get off the fence and jump on the bandwagon.

  171. Daniel G. says:

    Wes,

I believe Rudys Decision could probably have a little bit a Domino Effect on other high profile Candidates like Hoeven (ND) and Thompson (WI).

  172. Marv says:

    #177 Wes,

“When the mood of the country changes, it changes everywhere at once.” :-)

  173. Wes says:

Daniel, look at the post directly above yours.

  174. Daniel G. says:

    Wes,

You beat me on my thought about Hoeven & Thompson.

  175. LA Cajun says:

I am on the Vitter bandwagon as well and donate to him regularly. The fact is though, frequenting brothels does not play well when you are a US Senator, especially when the call girl tells the media that you like to be diapered!

I don’t see Scalise going any further than where he is. Jindal and Vitter are in another class compared to Scalise.

  176. Wes says:

Now the GOP Senators just need to give us a reason to vote FOR them by seriously opposing this travesty of a bill.

  177. Wes says:

Vitter likes to be diapered? That’s weird.

  178. Marv says:

    Pictures?

  179. Wes says:

Marv, please tell me you don’t want to see Vitter in a diaper.

Rudy knows he can’t beat Cuomo, noone can.

  182. wylie e. coyote - patriotic american citizen says:

Here is my email to Senator Colburn:

    Senator Colburn -

I have consistently appreciated your couragous and principled stand against a government takeover of our medical care and health insurance systems.

We are now at the most critical juncture in this grave crisis. With votes for cloture looming in the Senate to open debate on the governement takeover and, if this vote is successful, to close debate on the bill this may be our only opportunity to stop the most unjust, immoral, and Unconstitutional law ever proposed. I urge you to use every legal and parlimentary procedure at your disposal to stop this bill from becoming law. I also urge you to continue your efforts with the GOP leadership and reasonable Democrats to stop this takeover effort as well.

It was reported in the media today that you had decided against having the full bill read in the Senate due to pressure from within the GOP Senate caucus. If this is in fact true, I urge you to reconsider your decsion immediately. Any means that can be used to slow the process down will give the American public further opportunity to understand and consider the full implications of this vast empowerment of government and is exactly what is needed right now. The stakes for our nation and our children’s future could not be higher and this is not the time for political nicities or political posturing. Right now, the proponents of this takeover are using every means necessary to achieve their goals irregardless of the expressed wishes of the vast majority of American citizens. Please stand with the people in this critical time and go back to your orginal stance on insisting the full bill is read.

  183. Wes says:

It’s already been announced Rudy has no plan to run for Governor, Daniel.

  184. Marv says:

    #187 Wes

No, I’m worried that she has pictures of it. If not, then it’s not true and Vitter is the victim of a vicious smear campaign orchestrated by Obama and his left wing smear machine.

  185. MFG says:

Years ago Vitter used to go on all of the talk shows locally and rail against Edwin Edwards when it was politically hopeless to do so

    You know what courage is?

    Real courage…???

Endless perseverance in a near hopeless cause…

GOP Lawmaker Calls on Treasury Chief Geithner to Resign
    by

    FOXNews.com

Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner asserted that the economy was in significantly better shape today than it was a year ago when Republicans controlled the White House, a view that was supported by a number of Democrats on the committee.

WASHINGTON — A GOP lawmaker, in a tense exchange Thursday with Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner, called on Geithner to resign immediately, blaming him for rising unemployment, growing federal deficits and accounting flaws in the number of stimulus jobs created, among other economic problems.

The request, made at a Joint Economic Committee hearing, sparked an intense and remarkable back-and-forth between Rep. Kevin Brady, R-Texas, and Geithner, who countered that the economy was in significantly better shape today than it was a year ago when Republicans controlled the White House, a view that was supported by a number of Democrats on the committee.

“Mr. Secretary, the public has lost all confidence in your ability to do your job,” Brady said, adding that there is a “growing liberal consensus” that Geithner should be removed.

  187. Daniel G. says:

    Wes,

Bottom line on the NY-SEN Race:

If Rudy doesn’t run expect Pataki to run.

  188. MFG says:

    I love this site!

Political commentary, porn, more political commentary, more porn

    LOL

  189. Wes says:

It doesn’t seem to have hurt Vitter politically at all though, Marv. He’s comfortably ahead of Liar Dog Melancon.

  190. MFG says:

    Melancon is a joke

    BlueFraud

  191. Wes says:

Too bad the sore loser from the GOP part of the 2004 primary did everything he could to undermine Tauzin III, MFG. That’s just what I wnat to do: If I can’t be the nominee, then I’m going to undermine my own party’s only chance of winning a seat. Sheer genius!

  192. wylie e. coyote - patriotic american citizen says:

#168 When our local R congressman at the summer town hall told us “calm down folks, things are not so bad” then started estolling the virtues of the “bipartisan” Wyden-Bennett HC Bill (essentially CrappyCare without a public option) I got the exact same feeling….

Lets face it, both Obama due to his deal making with insurance lobbiests and the R due to their past connections/contributions with the same have strong influences to allow/push for passage of an Individual Mandates….

At least in the short term (in the long term when the boomers hit they will be bankrupt and run out of business by the regulations) the Health Insurance industry will get a profit boost from the Individual Mandate – and pretty much an Insurance Exec who is 60ish is really only looking a few years down the road at most and could care less if all the rest of us get dumped into socialist medicine…..

If the GOP was serious about stopping this thing they would have been focusing and tearing into the individual mandates and not the government option as that is the “heart” of Obamacare since it provides the funding, forced participation in the government system, and the subsidies/ dependcy hook…..

  193. LA Cajun says:

I agree, Vitter will prevail. Although, the scandal has hurt Vitter. Previously, no one would have even challenged him. In the last election he won in a three way race without a run off. He could not pull that off in the current environment. Now he is being challenged. Many people I know will hold their noses and vote for Vitter, but they are tired of his holier than thou attitude.

  194. Marv says:

    #197 Wes,

The public will forgive the type of indiscretion Vitter was involved with if there is full disclosure and sincere expressions regret. I think that he handled the situation pretty well and then went on the attack against his political rivals…..pretty smart move.

  195. Chekote says:

    #201

Perkins from Focus on the Family at one time indicated he was going to run against Vitter.

  196. Wes says:

That Mrs Vitter stood by him didn’t hurt, Marv.

  197. Wes says:

    Good evening, Chek.

  198. wylie e. coyote - patriotic american citizen says:

#160 Thats why government interventions in Medical Care needs to be stopped period.

These programs basically need to be reformed into something akin to Medicare Advantage – ie privitization

Right off the bat, the taxpayer gets 60 billion a year in costs lost to fraud back that could be put back into the actual purchase of care for the patient

  199. Marv says:

    #204 Wes,

    Yep, very helpful.

  200. D QUIXOTE says:

He and al can play together

  201. LA Cajun says:

David and Wendy have always been a team in this from the beginning when she managed his first campaign from their living room. I would not be surprised to see her run for office one day. She is a very bright lady and largely responsible for David’s success IMHO.

  202. MFG says:

Yes, Melancon won the first time over Tauzin by only 500 votes

    Grrrrrrrrrrr…

  203. Chekote says:

    #174

I think what she did was irresponsible and demagogic. I didn’t like it when the Dems were accusing Republicans of wanting to starve the poor. Why would I like it when someone on the Right does something similar? Because she is on our team? No good enough for me. Hate hypocrisy and double standards.

  204. Chekote says:

    Hey Wes

Are you serious about doing a blog?

  205. Chekote says:

You guys can fool yourself all you want but the reality is that opposition against HC reform started before Palin said anything. HC got in trouble because of the seniors who are afraid of Medicare cuts. Pure and simple. But please delude yourselves all you want.

  206. Marv says:

Finally, maybe we can begin to roll back the Oprahfication of America.

    http://abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/oprah-winfrey-leave-talk-show-2011/story?id=9131633

  207. Wes says:

Yes, Chek. A buddy of mine and I are planning to start it in the next couple of weeks. It’ll be a kind of conservative/libertarian thing with me as the East Coast conservative and him as the Left Coast liberal. As someone between us both philosophically and geographically, I thought you’d be a great asset. That’s why I asked if you were interested.

  208. LA Cajun says:

Chek – What qualities does Palin posses that make you want to vote for her?

  209. Marv says:

    #189 Wes,

    Way too skinny.

  210. Wes says:

    I read that already, Marv.

  211. Chekote says:

    #216

As Patrick McEnroe would say “You cannot be serious!”

  212. Wes says:

She is a vegan, Marv. Skinniness goes with the territory there. I’m sure in a pinch, you wouldn’t mind having her warm your bed though.

  213. Wes says:

    Wasn’t that John McEnroe, Chek?

  214. Marv says:

    Married!

  215. Chekote says:

    #221

You are right. John. Patrick is the nice kid.

  216. Wes says:

Same here, Marv. That’s never stopped me from looking though.

  217. wylie e. coyote - patriotic american citizen says:

#156 Actually, I would go a bit further and say its been THE MOST responsible statement made as it clearly outlined what is at stake here in the most moral and unambigous terms possible.

Her statement was also 100% correct as she stated it was the DESIGN OF THE GOVERNMENT RATIONING SYSTEM that was the essence of the death panel.

Of course, no government technocrat or politican will ever have a meeting or tell you personally you will be singled out for death. Its all done quite clinically and cynically thru the rationing formulas that are promulgated thru the system. The resulting delays and waiting list are what kills you. This is grossly immoral in a free and open society that we would even be contemplating such a grossly perverse system and Palin was correct to call it out.

What was demogougery was on the part of the left to call Palin and others “loons” and “nazis” etc for correctly pointing out what is a central fact in government run HC systems.

And crying about demogogery is about the last thing I want to hear from proponents on the left as their standard pitch that I see in every townhall and letter to the editor is to start with some SOB story about how a “evil” health insurance company is screwing them etc. Always the small exception to the rule being generalized to condem a HC system that produces outstanding outcomes for the vast vast majority of citizens.

Always unreasonably demanding perfection from the free market and alwas selling government solutions as a utopian panacea where perfection is always acheived despite the overwhelming evidence that government run anything is far far worse then the free market.

  218. Marv says:

Seriously, American culture will begin to repair itself when Oprah retires. I think that Sarah should take her place immediately!!!

  219. LA Cajun says:

Chek – Come on, Sarah has got to posses something that you could hang your hat on to make you pull the lever for her?

  220. Wes says:

A Hoffman victory was always a long shot, Chek.

  221. Wes says:

She’s held up exceptionally well for a woman in her mid-40s, LA.

  222. Chekote says:

    #225

Since I am probably the only person here who actually experienced socialized medicine in two different countries in two different continents, let me tell you how it works. You wait so damn long for treatment that you die in the process unless you pay out of your own pocket to see a private doctor. Most of the people die because of incompetent diagnosis or delayed diagnosis. Or because it takes so damn long to get to the nearest trauma center as in the case of Natasha Richardson.

  223. Chekote says:

    #227

I think Oprah is starting her own cable network. She ain’t retiring.

  224. Wes says:

That seems like a strong case against Obamacare to me, Chek.

  225. Chekote says:

Come on, Sarah has got to posses something that you could hang your hat on to make you pull the lever for her?

For POTUS? No. I rather have Obama screw up.

  226. Chekote says:

    #233

That’s the real case against Obamacare. Not the made up case by Palin.

  227. Wes says:

Well, Sean the Lightweight Hannity fawns over Palin as if she’s Goddess. That’s enough to give me pause about her although I’d certainly vote for her–or any Republican other than a Bush–over Obama.

  228. Chekote says:

I never thought I would miss Colms but I do.

  229. Wes says:

As long as the GOP doesn’t nominee, I’ll definitely be voting for their presidential candidate next year. If a Bush gets the nod though, then I’m so over to the dark side.

  230. Wes says:

How I screwed my previous post up, I have no idea, but I meant iot to say, “As long as the GOP doesn’t nominate another Bush…”

  231. Wes says:

And it should also say in 2012 rather than next year. I seriously need to pay more attention to what I’m typing.

  232. KnightHawk says:

“Coburn wanted to do it, but the RINO pussies said no”

I would like to see Coburn detail whom exactly said no – so we can express our displeasure at the correct individuals.

    This is some BS.

  233. Wes says:

Did you read the letter I sent to John Cornyn, Knight?

  234. Wes says:

She can’t, Chek. She’s ineligible under the Constitution.

  235. Chekote says:

If a Bush gets the nod though, then I’m so over to the dark side.

Palin is a better looking Bush in a skirt.

  236. Chekote says:

    #244

But Obama was born in Africa. ;)

Ahh such a nice photo Wes.

  243. Wes says:

I’d actually like to meet her someday, Knight. I doubt it will ever happen, but I wouldn’t mind. She’s much too gorgeous to be a porn star though. She seriously should become a model.

  244. KnightHawk says:

251 – Yeah that’s getting copied to null on arrival I’m sure along with a million others I hope. ;) These pussies don’t even want to block and tackle. Useless I’m with sam at this point… IMPEACH EVERYONE.

#231 Thats essentially what Palin said. You posted her statement yourself!

The twisting and demogouging was done by the left to Palin and all oppoents of a government run/HC rationing system.

Anybody can read the plain english and understand what was meant by it.

  246. KnightHawk says:

    Well… she’s always been a model too. ;)

  247. Trolletta says:

Just curious – why is everyone so excited about a potential Senator Giuliani?

Since when do you want a pro-choice, pro gay rights RiNO in the senate???? Did I miss something????????? LOL

  248. KnightHawk says:

Yeah you did trolletta, the two dipchits the state of NY currently has as Senators.

  249. Wes says:

I’m hoping if Cornyn sees enough such e-mails, he’ll let the other GOP Senators know the natives are bit pissed right at the moment.

  250. Wes says:

Trolleta, I’m pro-choice and agnostic on gay rights. Thus, why wouldn’t I wnat Giuliani to be Senator?

  251. Wes says:

What do you think of this woman, Knight?

    http://img101.imageshack.us/i/elsa8am.jpg/

  252. Trolletta says:

Yes I know where you stand Wes.

What about those calling for party purity? What about those who say that RINOs just muddle the message?

  253. addisonst says:

It would be nice if chek spent a tenthof the time on obama that she does on palin.

  254. Wes says:

There’s just something about a hot latina, Knight…I can’t quite put my finger on it.

  255. Chekote says:

    Palin on O’Reilly tonight.

  256. Wes says:

    Making that money.

  257. Wes says:

Trolletta seems to have been a driveby poster for the night. Pity. I was looking forward to a bit of back and forth with a socialist who’s not a complete jackass.

  258. KnightHawk says:

Not really into latina’s but they definitely got something, how about a little desert?

  259. wylie e. coyote - patriotic american citizen says:

#267 I will be watching the travel channel then.

  260. Wes says:

    Hubba hubba hubba, Knight.

  261. Wes says:

If that’s what aliens look like, Knight, then I’ll be glad to be taken to their leader any time.

  262. GPO says:

Wes – I read your clarification on CFG, and I think they pick their races far more carefully than you give them credit for. Of course there are a few missteps and they dont hit 100%, but they do far more good keeping R’s honest. Sali I believe won his first race before losing reelection bid. Didnt work out in the end.

By the way, who is Sam Graves?

  263. Wes says:

Although even this woman wasn’t enough to save that crapfest called Flash Gordon, at least the show introduced us to her well-developed charms:

    http://img295.imageshack.us/i/stuff20magazine2028329zz8.jpg/

  264. wylie e. coyote - patriotic american citizen says:

Total tab in the real world for CrappyCare?

4.9 trillion dollars for the Feds tab! (not including trillons in premuim increase due to insanely unneeded insurance mandates)

    http://healthcare.nationalreview.com/post/?q=OTc1MjEzYjI5NzM0M2Y1YjUwNzZhZmVhZGFhYTQxYjI=

“So, here’s the bottom line. On paper, the Reid plan plus the “doc fix” would increase total federal spending by about $4.9 trillion over 20 years. Senate Democrats would resort to bracket creep and other tax hikes to raise $2.2 trillion over the same period. The balance would be made up with spending reductions, mainly in Medicare, that no one believes can be sustained, and in any event do not constitute “health reform.” In other words, it’s a tax-and-spend bill of the highest order. And only the spending is certain to happen.”

  265. Wes says:

Sam Graves is a five-term Congressman from Missouri, GPO. He won a district that had been in Dem hands for several cycles and solidifed it as a GOP seat. He’s made no secret about wnating to be a Senator someday. He’s not the most conservative guy on the planet, buy you can count on him on the big issues.

  266. Howard Dean 1/20/13 says:

Liberal animals demand the state (YOU!) pay for their education:

    http://www.breitbart.tv/raw-footage-32-inflation-in-ucla-tuition-causes-riots/

  267. Wes says:

Ah…Blue-eyed blondes. You just have to love them.

  268. KnightHawk says:

274 – The leader is pretty dam hot herself.

  269. KnightHawk says:

    281 – You do indeed!

  270. Wes says:

Increasing tuition is one thing, Howie. I’m not sure a 32% increase is wholly justified though.

  271. KnightHawk says:

280 – HD I saw that earlier today, they went totally apechit.

  272. wylie e. coyote - patriotic american citizen says:

#280 If thats their expectation for college tution they will be sorely disappointed when they find out that they will be paying tens of thousands for CrappyCare insurance since they dont need!

  273. KnightHawk says:

284 – In CA it likely is, state is broke, time to get real.

  274. Wes says:

    Good point, Wilye.

  275. Howard Dean 1/20/13 says:

Army to Allow Some Media Coverage During Palin Event at Fort Bragg

    by

    AP

The Army will allow the media some limited access to Sarah Palin during her appearance at Fort Bragg, after initially saying they would prohibit coverage.

  276. Wes says:

Thank you, Arnold, California sheeple, and crooked Dems for bankrupting the Golden State.

  277. Howard Dean 1/20/13 says:

I’m not sure a 32% increase is wholly justified though.

    Comment by Wes — November 19, 2009 @ 7:54 pm

Have you SEEN Ca’s budget deficit??

  278. wylie e. coyote - patriotic american citizen says:

This is an interesting obersvation that the NRO’s picked up on:

“Markos Moulitsas says the latest Research2000 poll indicates that Crist should run as an independent.”

Gee, that seems to be the standard D political tactic these days – get conservatives and R turn on each other then allow the real radical liberal to win.

  279. Howard Dean 1/20/13 says:

BTW, The regents APPROVED the 32% increase.

    heh

  280. Wes says:

$21 billion in the red, Howie. I’m aware.

  281. wylie e. coyote - patriotic american citizen says:

#293 Gee shocking – the big government politician/government employee/government employee union complex helps itself to another raise at the taxpayers expense…..

Until the government quits intervening in college financing the inflation and pocket lining at taxpayer expense will continue unabated!

  282. Wes says:

I wouldn’t surrender my day job on the hope that will stop any time soon, Wilye.

  283. Marv says:

Looks like Landrieu prostituted herself out and sold her vote.

    http://blogs.abcnews.com/thenote/2009/11/the-100-million-health-care-vote.html

  284. wylie e. coyote - patriotic american citizen says:

    #297 Yep!

Here is the HC “fact sheet” from Mary Landeriu’s WWW site:

    http://landrieu.senate.gov/healthcare/Health_Care_Fact_Sheet.pdf

I would put here down as a solid “yes” vote as it pretty much parrots the standard D talking points!

  285. Wes says:

So…Who in Louisiana wants to run against her in 2014? That line should start formign around a few blocks on Bourbon street.

  286. KnightHawk says:

Maybe Vitter could have got a better diaper deal from her a couple years back? ;) Don’t get me wrong I like Vitter just making a yoke.

  287. Wes says:

I wish to God Liddy Dole hadn’t self-destructed last year. Hagan’s so liberal she makes previosu Dem Senator John Edwards look libertarian. She’s alreayd bought a one-way ticket on the socialist bullet train by the way.

  288. wylie e. coyote - patriotic american citizen says:

#299 She is the typical arrogant statist politician….

She just suckered everbody into voting her in 2008….

She fiqures based on past history that by 2014, due to the slow phase in of CrappyCare, all the attention will be back on football, working and paying taxes, etc….

Banking on never being held accountable for her actions….

Plus, of course she wasnt ever moderate or reasonable that is just a front….

Wow, you say government run everything is great if its paid for – gee, thats way better that outright statism lol

  289. Howard Dean 1/20/13 says:

    So Webb will vote Aye?

    He is GONE next year.

  290. BayernFan says:

Chek… you don’t like Socialized Medicine. I get that.

What I dont get is why you diss Palin so much. She is doing more than 90% of GOP players in DC (yes including Rinos) to stop it.

You should be grateful for her efforts.

  291. Trolletta says:

No Wes, not a drive-by poster here.

Nobody has answered my question about why the excitement over RINO Rudy.

And you guys are talking about girls anyway .. so have a good night and watch out for herpes LOL

  292. Wes says:

That’s interesting, Howie, since Webb’s not up till 2012.

  293. Wes says:

Last I checked, Trolletta, we’re discussing the HC debacle.

  294. Howard Dean 1/20/13 says:

    12?

    My bad.

    Then he’s GONE in 12!

  295. KnightHawk says:

Actual trolletta I did – it’s a serious improvement over the llama that currently occupy the two offices in the senate from the deep blue state of NY.

  296. Wes says:

Would you go on a date with New York’s bimbette Senator though, Knight?

  297. Trolletta says:

um OK Wes, the topic of the thread was the US senate race as posted by Mr. Wissing. Pardon me for trying to stay on topic LOL

BTW, posting off-topic posts are subject to deletion , no? Not that it matter, we’d all be banned if that were the case. :)

  298. wylie e. coyote - patriotic american citizen says:

FWIW, our impartial taxpayer-funded press corps at NPR collected the following statements from the so-called “moderate” statists of the D party:

    http://www.npr.org/templates/transcript/transcript.php?storyId=113990953

Please feel free to review them and dechiper in plain english for me.

IMHO, it all sounds like double talk designed to spin their support for a government HC takeover.

Just having no Government Run insurance plan hardly negates Nationalization of HC and these crooks know it.

  299. Wes says:

You’re right about that, Trolletta. By the way, I did answer your post about Giuliani as a potential Senator–and I didn’t mention a single girl in that whole response.

  300. Trolletta says:

Yes you did KnightHawk and I respect your answer. I was hoping that I’d get a response from those party purists who say that RINOs are not allowed and must be purged ..

  301. KnightHawk says:

I wouldn’t Wes, but she does rank as a milf none the less.

  302. Chekote says:

Didn’t BOR say he was going to discuss policy in his interview? What policy did he talked about?

  303. Tommy_Boy says:

    #316 I guess that’s tomorrow

  304. Wes says:

She looks purely evil in her wikipedia pic, Knight:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kirsten_Gillibrand

  305. Wes says:

The bimbette Senator from New York is surely verification of the axiom that one’s intelligence decreases as physical looks become more appealing.

  306. KnightHawk says:

314 – Few have any issue with him representing NY from the senate or the governors mansion, it’s at the national level where some had an issue – Don’t try and parrot the chekmiester, one is already more then enough.

  307. Wes says:

I wonde rif Der Slickmeister ever tried to make the beast with two backs with her? Probably not. She’s not fat enough.

  308. wylie e. coyote - patriotic american citizen says:

Here is a piece for all you socialist-haters out there:

    http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2009/11/19/taking_governmental_invasiveness_too_far_99220.html

“Obama has already undone Clinton’s welfare reform. The stimulus bill is a heaping helping of deficit deathliness with few compensatory benefits. The government now represents the largest percentage of the economy since World War II. The oppressively dictatorial House health bill would expand costs when the only salvation is to contain them. The government’s the boss of financial institutions and much of the auto industry, massive new regulation is looming and there is constant talk of reshaping the economy. Proposals to lessen global warming would further tax and control overtaxed businesses to restrict energy vital to economic growth with little hope of affecting climate more than an insignificant bit.

If you don’t want to call all of this and much more socialism, don’t. But it would assuredly give us a new kind of America that diminishes much that has been precious.”

  309. KnightHawk says:

The pearl necklace is always a nice touch. ;)

  310. KnightHawk says:

321 – Source say she was Hilda’s love interest for awhile.

  311. Chekote says:

So far the Palin interviews at Fox have been. MSM bad. They treated you so badly. Bad MSM. Bad, bad, bad. Couric wants to kill Trig. All pro-choicers want to kill Trig. How do you feel about it Mrs. Palin? Palin “yes, I know. They want to kill Trig. But I am Mama Grizzly and will protect my cubs”.

  312. wylie e. coyote - patriotic american citizen says:

#316 They talked about the proposed nuclear non-proliferation treaty and the law-of-the-sea treaty. They also discussed Palin’s new hobby of skydiving and her upcoming expedition to Antartica to photograph rare and endangered penguins.

  313. Wes says:

Well, Chek, I think it’s pretty clear what heads Hannity and O’Reilly were thinking with on those ones. Wouldn’t you agree?

  314. KnightHawk says:

    The broken record continues.

  315. Tina says:

    KH,

Shout out, can we get a photo-op with the troops.

  316. wylie e. coyote - patriotic american citizen says:

#325 Trig is cool. Back off Trig. Who wants to kill Trig? That is just wrong!

  317. Wes says:

So, Chek, do you think Der Slickmeister ever made a pass at the blonde bimbette from New York?

  318. Tina says:

Mary Landrieu was bribed with $100 million for medicare.

I fear that the bill passes the Senate, any thoughts.

  319. KnightHawk says:

Shout out back at you, so long as we don’t jump to any conclusions or decisions of national importance I think we can!

  320. Chekote says:

    The broken record continues.

That’s exactly how I feel about “conservatives” repeating over and over that all pro-choicers want to kill Trig. Or that people don’t think that Palin is POTUS material because she is pro-life. Broken record doesn’t begin to describe it.

  321. Wes says:

At this point, quite possible, Tina.

  322. Tina says:

I hope Guiliani runs for Senate.

  323. Wes says:

That’s the concensus of thinking on this thread, Tina.

  324. Chekote says:

325 Trig is cool. Back off Trig. Who wants to kill Trig? That is just wrong!

Take it up with Palin and her supporters. They are the only ones claiming that people want Trig dead. Remember who the author of “death panels” for Trig is? Sarah Palin.

  325. KnightHawk says:

332- Some version of it will, and I think she should have held out for far more then 100 million, apparently she’s a cheap ride.

  326. Chekote says:

So, Chek, do you think Der Slickmeister ever made a pass at the blonde bimbette from New York?

    I dunno.

  327. Tina says:

Wes, some here have said that the moderate Demos would stop it. While they may voice concerns, like the Webbless Wonder or Mary Fondantlieu, they ultimately will vote yes.

  328. Tina says:

I got my 15 copies of Palin’s book.

  329. Wes says:

That, Tina, is why elections matter; hence, Bush should never have won the presidency.

  330. wylie e. coyote - patriotic american citizen says:

#332 We we casually discussion billions and even trillions these days $100 million is like chicken scratch eh?

She is not only a statists but any easily bought off one at that – she could have gotten a billion times more lol

Yep, me thinks CrappyCare minus the government option diversion is coming…..I just cant fiqure if its before or after XMAS….that is the key thing I have to decide so I can make my forutune on InTrade on CrappyCare!

  331. KnightHawk says:

The needle is worn out as well.

  332. ghost 3 says:

    Hello folks!

    It’s been a while.

I see Chek is still a raging lunatic!

How many ex-hubby’s do you have?

  333. Chekote says:

I got my 15 copies of Palin’s book.

But I am obsessed with Palin….

  334. Tina says:

    EPH has returned.

How many books has Flim Flam Fraud and Scarfarce and the other Rinos sold again??????????????

  335. Chekote says:

I see Chek is still a raging lunatic!

You forget to say that I want to kill Trig. Don’t you know that all pro-choicers want to kill Trig?

  336. Wes says:

    How go things, Eph?

  337. Tina says:

Your 200 meds are waiting at Walgreens.

  338. Wes says:

    Who’s Flim Flam Fraud, Tina?

  339. wylie e. coyote - patriotic american citizen says:

#338 No NO NO! I want to know the specific people who hate Trig!

We already established the accuracy of the Death Panel – its a verifiable fact of socialist medicine!

If Kate Couric wants to kill trig then she is one sick perky monkey!

  340. Chekote says:

How many books has Flim Flam Fraud and Scarfarce and the other Rinos sold again??????????????

Julia Child sold a lot of books. Maybe the GOP can nominate her.

  341. Chekote says:

    Who’s Flim Flam Fraud, Tina?

    David Frum.

  342. Wes says:

    Oh, Tina. I see.

  343. Wes says:

    Or Chek, rather.

  344. Chekote says:

Your 200 meds are waiting at Walgreens.

While there I will go ahead and pick up your prescription for your Annie Oakley delusion. It’s no problem. After all, we are buds.

  345. Tina says:

Anyone knows the early practice of the death panels – just look at the Obumbler’s policy recommendations on mammograms. How stupid do they think the people are – when they admit “some women will die b/c of no tests..”

  346. wylie e. coyote - patriotic american citizen says:

    Hello Ghost 3!

    So where is ghost 69?

Do you know that Katie Couric wants to kill Trig?

    That is wrong isnt it?

The sick monkey’s are going after poor trig!

Thats WRONG! Just plain sick twisted double dog dirty wrong!

  347. KnightHawk says:

    It’s she dead?

  348. Chekote says:

    #338

Ash Ghost 3 and the rest of the pro-life crowd around here. They are the ones who started this meme that people object to Palin because she had Trig.

  349. Tina says:

I am sure they can bribe the Maine Chickettes too.

  350. Wes says:

Oh, way cool. Tina and Chekote are having another mud wrestling contest.

  351. Tina says:

Liberals want to give the seniors too.

  352. KnightHawk says:

Tina they think we are very very stupid, only problem is we’re only stupid.

  353. Wes says:

Sorry, ladies. That was the 10th grade nerd who never completely left me although I’ve tried to leave him behind many times talking.

  354. Tina says:

    Book banner and thought Police!!!!

  355. Chekote says:

Anyone knows the early practice of the death panels

Those are guidelines which are been rejected by the medical professionals. Hardly, a death panel before which Trig is going to be judge based on his “productivity”. But then again, you think you are Annie Oakley.

  356. Wes says:

    Good point, Knight.

  357. KnightHawk says:

364 – stop day dreaming lol.

  358. Tina says:

So, what other phony modersates are now on board?

  359. wylie e. coyote - patriotic american citizen says:

#362 We would have to say that Trig would have had a real tough time seeing the light of day under the government run health care schemes as this would not have been a “cost effective” move for the taxpayer.

  360. ghost 3 says:

    WEC, What are you smoking?

  361. Wes says:

Knight, at this point, I just suggest we sit back and watch while the ladies have their fireworks.

  362. Chekote says:

    Wylie

    Are you pro-choice?

  363. Tina says:

They are still guidelines, they do not listen to medical community, nor do they listen to their generals.

  364. Tina says:

But the Obumbler is brillian because Flim Flam Fraud and Scarfarce says so.

I see that Tingles has a woody too.

  365. Tommy_Boy says:

    Wes,

It’s not a fair fight between Tina and Chek. As far as I know, Tina has never sent an e-mail to Wissing requesting someone be banned.

  366. Tina says:

So anyone besides ? can answer, what moderates did we lose??

  367. Tina says:

Heck, I would not even sign the petition to ban Keybrained.

  368. KnightHawk says:

375 – I’m just waiting around for acroso to show up and add to the mess here.

  369. ghost 3 says:

As far as I know, Tina has never sent an e-mail to Wissing requesting someone be banned.

    Comment by Tommy_Boy — November 19, 2009 @ 8:45 pm

    That’s because Chek is a loud-mouth crybaby!

  370. wylie e. coyote - patriotic american citizen says:

#369 Aw yes, parroting the liberal literalist interpretation of the death panel. I thought we had clearly established that the government rationing system was the death panel. The NHS board that changed the mammogram requirements has a direct and significant impact on what procedures and test will be paid for in federal programs and funding.

    So what will it be?

The government and unelected technocrats making these decsions for all 300 millon of us or you the individual making them?

    Your call!

  371. Wes says:

As I recall, Tommy, Chek did that because Eph repeatedly accuse dher of guilt over an abortion. I wouldn’t have done the same thing, but I can see the justification for what she did.

  372. Tina says:

The treasury secretary needs to resign, I agree. I was against TARP because one could see the $$$ going to Goldman.

  373. Tina says:

    ? is like an IED.

  374. KnightHawk says:

378 – I can’t watch tingles, actually I should say I refuse to watch tingles or anything on that network.

  375. Wes says:

I seriosuly wish someone would shoot Acroso/Bunu/Invalid 1-900,000, Knight.

  376. Chekote says:

    #377

Look, in socialized countries you still have private clinics. You still have the option to get treatment. So this whole idea that all choice will be gone is pure bunk. The problem with Obamacare is that is leading people to think that they will pay less for the same level of care they get now. It will not. You will have to pay higher taxes to support the state health insurance and still pay for insurance so that you can go to a private clinic to get treated. Additionally, the psychology of “it’s free” takes a hold and people flood the hospitals with sniffles. That leads to overcrowding and long waits, delays. So what the Dems are telling people is pure fiction.

  377. pitchaboy says:

There are only two unknowsn votes for Saturday; Lieberman and Lincoln. The overwhelmingly likelihood is that it will go to the floor. The overwhelming likelihood is also that nothing will pass this year as these clowns will hear from their constituents over recess.

  378. KnightHawk says:

    388 – LOL, that’s a keeper Tina.

  379. wylie e. coyote - patriotic american citizen says:

#374 I dont smoke as the government health advisory panel has told me its bad for my health and their budget lol

My previous statements about Trig were simply sarcasim as I have never heard such hysterical nonsense before lol

  380. Wes says:

That sounds like an extreme longshot, Am.

  381. Chekote says:

Tina has never sent an e-mail to Wissing requesting someone be banned.

    Neither have I.

  382. Tina says:

The Fox poll showing 46 percent approval is based on registered voters, I see that he is going to 43to 45 among likely.

  383. Chekote says:

    ? is like an IED.

WOW! Tina is so brave. She too afraid to spell my name. But she is government worker after all.

  384. Tina says:

I still can not get over the photo op with the troops remarks from the Obumbler.

  385. Wes says:

I’ve never been enamored of the Fox polls. They were wildly off the mark in 2000 and 2004 although I don’t know about last year.

  386. Chekote says:

My previous statements about Trig were simply sarcasim as I have never heard such hysterical nonsense before lol

    Where have you been?

  387. GPO says:

    Chek

BOR said they were airing the policy segment tomorrow night

  388. pitchaboy says:

Under Obamacare there will be a panel that is appointed and not elected such as the one that decided on the mammograms issue. Understand, on this mammogram panel there was not a single breawst surgeon or oncologist. The panel will advise Congress and CMS on the cost benefit analysis of individual procedures. For instance, if grandpa who is 70 years old needs a hip replacement, he will be told to ride it out in a wheelchair and take pain medications. If the cost of doing a procedure or saving a life is more than potential worth to teh state, that procedure will be denied.

  389. wylie e. coyote - patriotic american citizen says:

#391 No thats incorrect. Not legal ones at least. In Canada, its illegal to pay for your own HC. Ditto GB.

Of course the political elites and the rich can go out of country etc so they will always have options.

That is what is so diabolical about CrappyCare – right now we have a HC system where both rich and poor equally benefit and have access to the latest medical technology and wonder drugs.

CrappyCare will end that and set up a sub-standard system for the majority of ordinary citizens while the rich and politically connected get the benefits of the best of everything.

Good. I am sick of talking about the incompetent Mac campaign and the Couric interview.

  391. Big Joe says:

    EPPPHHHHHH in da house!

  392. Tina says:

Wes, what Ds did we lose in the debate – Healthcare?

  393. Tina says:

The Obumbler’s mammogram policy is so offensive and medically unsound.

  394. Chekote says:

    #403

No matter what the government does people will still have the option to go to a private clinic. What insidious about Obamacare is the fact that it will hurt the middle class the worse. They will have to subsidize the poor and still pay for private clinics to get the same care they are getting now.

  395. KnightHawk says:

399 – Neither would most americans, assuming anyone told them about it.

  396. Chekote says:

    EPPPHHHHHH in da house!

Really. Honey are you really back???????

  397. Wes says:

From what I’ve seen, Tina, just about all of them except maybe Lincoln, who hasn’t committed either way as yet, and possibly Lieberman–although I believe he’s an indy rather than a D now.

  398. KnightHawk says:

I never get sick of hearing about McCain camp being incompetent no matter what source it comes from, because they were.

  399. Wes says:

Even Suicide Ben Nelson is now a lost cause. The GOP needs to make sure Nebraskans are aware of his vote in three years. A vote for cloture is a vote for the bill regardless of how one actually votes during the roll call.

  400. pitchaboy says:

In countries with socialized medicine there is private insurance, but only the wealthy can afford it. It will be the same here once single payor takes over and you can bet they will tax that kind of insurance to the hilt. And, yes, almost cost-benefit analysis comes from Europe and Canada as a means to setting policies to deny care. It is ludicrous to argue that the buk of medical expenses is in the last year of our existence. That is when we turn ill and the only way to avoid that, is to shut off care when any serious illness strikes.

  401. KnightHawk says:

408 – I’m sure it’s going to help with the woman’s vote next year. ;)

  402. Wes says:

You’re talking about people who were following in GWB’s footsteps, Knight. Would it have been possible for them to be otherwise?

  403. Wes says:

    Great post, pitch.

  404. KnightHawk says:

414 – Nelson needs to go down over it but sadly he’s not up till 2012.

  405. wylie e. coyote - patriotic american citizen says:

#409 I would agree but take that a step further and say that CrappyCare is designed to make the middle class poor and heard them into to government run insurance (called it a government option or “private” exchange its all the same – government run and subsidized) so they will end up on the short end with substandard care.

Also, while CrappyCare may not explicitly forbid private care in version 1.O it certainly will as it evolves later into single payer and/or full socialist medicine.

Its a fact in Canada and the UK that its a crime to pay for your own medical care!

It has to evolve in that direction – CrappyCare is all government force and coersion. Thats the only way this artificially created non-free scheme can work. Pure brute government force. Thats what Canada and UK HC “choice” is all about right now!

  406. Tina says:

It will have to come from conservative media. I did not listen to the radio programs today, did anybody mention it?

  407. Chekote says:

Not legal ones at least. In Canada, its illegal to pay for your own HC. Ditto GB.

    BS.

    http://www.bupa.co.uk/

  408. Wes says:

Then an ambitious, well-funded Republican needs to start an exploratory committee now, Knight.

  409. KnightHawk says:

417 – Yes, it was possible, even if unlikely, but not even they were incompetent enough to go with public financing.

  410. pitchaboy says:

Every country that socialized medical care did it with the moral premise that it is the right thing to do and that in the long run, it will curtail costs and make business more competitive. Look at these countries, cost has skyrocketed, taxes havve gone up to pay for the care, people are dissatisfied and European business stinks.

  411. KnightHawk says:

423 – I’ll file my paperwork in the morning.

  412. Chekote says:

Nelson needs to go down over it but sadly he’s not up till 2012.

That’s probably why is going to at least vote for cloture.

  413. Wes says:

Business may stink in Europe, Pitch, but they’re damn good at producins absolutely gorgeous supermodels. :)

  414. Chekote says:

    Who replaced Hagel?

  415. KnightHawk says:

421 – Have not watched (I tivo it all usually and watch into the night) yet, my guess is no, only ConsRadio mentioned it.

  416. Chekote says:

    #420

The middle class will get the brunt of Obamacare.

  417. Wes says:

If I weren’t moving to the Bahamas, I’d be opening an exploratory committee seeking to challenge Hagan in 2012.

  420. Tina says:

We are becoming a marxist country and a turd world country.

  421. Wes says:

Johanns, Chek. He would have beaten Nelson in 2006, but in about the 9 trillionth blunder of his pathetic presidency, George W Bush talked him into taking a job as Ag Secretary so Nelson could face a lightweight and win reelection by 28 points.

  422. Chekote says:

I never get sick of hearing about McCain camp being incompetent no matter what source it comes from, because they were.

The worst. The absolute worst campaign in recent memory. I want McCain to answer a few questions.

  423. KnightHawk says:

#431 – But not until 2013… imagine that, oh but they get to start playing for it in 2010.

The whole accounting\math situation alone with these bills is beyond insanity, if the GOP tried this… omfg the outcry and 100 zillion reports calling foul would be plastered 24×7.

  424. Chekote says:

How about a big HHR “shout out” to Rep Hensarling and Ryan for this piece about the emerging socialist run-economy:

  436. Wes says:

  437. Chekote says:

So do you prefer the ones with the cheese baked inside or to add it on top?

    Inside.

  438. Kosher dogs are the best. We need to figure out how we are going to repeal this sheet. We win congress and the pred in 2012 and we repeal it. We jam the repeal down their throats harder than they jammed the sheet down our throats. We jam the repeal down their throats so hard that it sticks out the back of their skulls and prevents them from sleeping on their backs ever again. Any questions?

  439. Wes says:

That can be construed as a double entendre, Chek.

  440. Chekote says:

It is kinda funny to see the Dems panicked about the economy. These idiots really thought that the stimulus was going to help.

  441. Chekote says:

For Wes – extended version (vulgar link)

  451. Chekote says:

Mindless entertainment. I love fashion, food and dancing.

  452. Wes says:

    Fair enough, Chek.

  453. KnightHawk says:

I’m watching Mars: The making of earth… so …

  454. Wes says:

Thanks, Knight. That’s the only movie I’ve ever seen where I could actually stomach Vincent D’Onofrio–aside from The Whole Wide World, that is.

  455. Howard Dean says:

Wes, When do you leave for the Bahamas?

    House or condo?

  456. Wes says:

Yuo and my Wife would hit it off very well, Chek.

  457. Wes says:

Having a house built, Howie. Planning to start construction next month.

  458. Howard Dean says:

    I’m envious, Wes.

I can’t leave for another 10 yrs and 4 months.

  459. Wes says:

Condos just don’t do it for me as primary residences.

  460. Wes says:

    Why so long, Howie?

  461. KnightHawk says:

    477 Why is that? (kids?)

  462. Wes says:

My Wife and I are looking into sending Our daughter to a charter school in Florida when she gets old enough though. I don’t know enough about the Bahamian education system to trust them with my little girl’s education.

  463. KnightHawk says:

477 – You know at that rate why look at leaving, we may have successfully fractured the country by then, you’ve got some pretty arse land up there in Idaho, less the caldera blows in WY, lol then we’re all screwed anyway.

  464. wylie e. coyote - patriotic american citizen says:

#455 Well then our professional conservative politicians and media had better get started soon on something like this:

    http://corner.nationalreview.com/post/?q=YTMzZTlkNTE4M2ExNjFlNjUyMTY1YjQxMjg4YzJjYTg=

Me personally, it sounds like alot of Ghost Dancing to me. Better to fight and win the current entirely winnable war then prepare to fight another one on what essentially amounts to hopless odds.

  465. Chekote says:

    #481

I have a friend in Freeport. I can ask him if you like.

  466. Wes says:

    I’d like that, Chek.

  467. KnightHawk says:

482 – If obama allows them to still exist by then Wes. ;)

  468. Chekote says:

    #485

Okay. I will get back to you. He has a daughter and opted to send her to Canada at a boarding school. I don’t know whether it had to do with him wanting her to be fluent in French.

  469. KnightHawk says:

WEC – Going to need 67 in the senate and like ~300 in the house not going to happen in 2010 and obama will surely veto it, then the tax collection begins prior to benefits in 2013.

  470. Howard Dean says:

I need to make it to 50, so I can collect my pension.

Plus, by that time my wife should be running her boss’ small business, which she can do from anywhere.

Thanks for cleaning up the link, KH.

  471. Wes says:

Then Obama has to be beaten in 2012, Knight.

  472. Howard Dean says:

KH, I’m in E. WA. about 30 miles E. of Idaho. N. Idaho is beautiful but I want to live by the ocean.

    And that’s much cheaper overseas.

Are you looking at other places besides Belize?

  473. KnightHawk says:

No problem HD, thanks for posting it.
Roger on the 10 year thing, assuming your allowed to collect it in 10 years. ;)

  474. wylie e. coyote - patriotic american citizen says:

#488 Thats why I call all this repeal of CrappyCare a dangerous delusion akin to Ghost Dancing…..a lot of energy being expended on a dream that will never ever happen…..once we adopt CrappyCare there will be no turning back…..

  475. Howard Dean says:

    Ya, that’s my new worry!

  476. Wes says:

How can you stand living in the Marxist utopia of Washington, Howie? You are in the eastern part of the state though, so that must mollify things a bit.

  477. Wes says:

Well, all, I’m out. Everyone have a good night.

  478. KnightHawk says:

490 it will have to be back to back taking one of the houses in 2010 and then POTUS in 2012 yes. But my point was prior to that we’ll already be paying for it + the coming tax hikes in 2011 with the expiration of tax cuts.

491 – I’ve been eying south east asia more and more (philippines), though I’d prefer the US just breakup, I’d hate to cut and run but more and more it seems the practical thing to plan for as I don’t really see the desire in the population for this ship to be turned around let alone righted.

  479. KnightHawk says:

495 – Eastern WA was pretty much republican I thought?

  480. KnightHawk says:

I’m heading off to watch more boob-tube in a few as well.

  481. wylie e. coyote - patriotic american citizen says:

#500 Five flippin’ hundred – thats flippin amazing even by HHR standards lol

At least half were devoted to the topic of “who wants to kill Trig?” lol

  482. Felix says:

My God. Nelson is a liberal Traitor.

    I want Blood.

  483. sharon says:

Who cares about Palin! This vote coming Saturday night has me scared to death. Who cares who will be defeated next year and in 2012. The damage will well be done by that time and will not be able to be reversed. There were so many on this site that were confident that this bill would not see life this year and perhaps never in the Senate. Just wondering how everyone is feeling tonight?

  484. KnightHawk says:

Well Felix, I do know a guy who knows a guy. ;)

  485. Felix says:

Sharon i agree. but this all started with the Stupak bill

  486. Felix says:

Sharon i am a Catholic, the Church had good intentions, but they were duped by Reid and Pelosi.

Abortion will be in this bill.

  487. Chekote says:

Just wondering how everyone is feeling tonight?

They will pass something but it will be reversible.

  488. Felix says:

Sahron, we all thought that there were sane Democrats who did not want to lose their seats. Ben Nelson and Blanche Lincoln are fools who do not care.

Bill Kristol said this was dead./

  489. Felix says:

    Chekote, reversible? Please.

  490. KnightHawk says:

Sharon, I feel gang raped, felt that way all year and it’s not going to stop any time soon. Some version of the POS senate bill will pass, obama has too much invested for any other outcome.

It will goto conference and some even more massive 2350 page version will come out with a hypbred public-option, 10 year funding but 5 years of service, lease option, with an abortion carveout opt-out after 40 months along with some jail time and pre-pay penalties, and some triggers for good measure and of course some bold face lies *cough* I mean creative accounting on top.

Did you understand any of that? No? Exactly. :)

  491. wylie e. coyote - patriotic american citizen says:

#507 Sure. And magical unicorns will handout bags of candy to all the children of the CrappyCare nation too.

  492. Felix says:

As someone said today Knighthawk. This was all theathre by Nelson and the moderates. They were yes votes the whole time.

  493. KnightHawk says:

“we all thought that there were sane Democrats”

Haha speak for yourself on that one per the house. ;)

I did think there might be a couple sane ones in the Senate, but it was always a stretch.

    Later kidos.

  494. rdelbov says:

I have hope and confusion to the enemy is all I can say.

I still maintain that time is on our side as the economy worsens and as the elections of 2010 looms closer. Folks the economy for 2010 is almost completely set. Obama choose government stimulus over encouragin business to grow and its been a flat out bust.

75% of the 2009 stimulus has not been spent and the democrats are readying another stimulus package. The Blue dogs are howling about the deficit and they just piled 210 billion out there in a medicare fix.

We are set to be living in a 10% for at least the next year. The polls stink right now for the democrats but the days where 6% unemployment still do not seem so distant. In a year at next November 10% would have been a way of life for a year. It will be very very bad for the democrats.

  495. Chekote says:

I feel gang raped, felt that way all year and it’s not going to stop any time soon.

    Buck up, soldier.

  496. Felix says:

The Church wanted a Public Option, and they will get it. They were willing to give stupak and the other liberal catholics cover.

The Church does not realize that this will give the DEMS power for a Generation, and Abortion will become even more routine. Vatican Fools

  497. Chekote says:

Okay guys. I know it looks bad for our country but please don’t the bastards take you down.

Goodnight and keep the faith. We are Americans and there is nothing we can’t do.

  498. Felix says:

Rdel, nice post, but do you believe HC will not pass before 2010?

  499. wylie e. coyote - patriotic american citizen says:

#512 There really is no such thing as a “moderate” statist.

If you beleive that government intervention is proper solution to every problem and always trumps individual rights then the fact that you insist that its slightly less so or “paid for” is a distiction without a difference….

How can you moderate an infringement on basic constitional protections for individual rights and freedoms then call this “moderate”

  500. wylie e. coyote - patriotic american citizen says:

#514 Its nice that you forsee bad things for the party of statist a year from now but essentially thats meaningless if any form of CrappyCare is passed as there is no going back on it…..and that will be the final cancer that kills off this country IMHO

  501. pitchaboy@aol.com says:

While it may get 60 votes ton Saturday(still dont know Lincoln or Lieberman), this will not get to pass.Reid will be forcedto go back to the drawing board and get a bill with no public option or a watered down version if the liberals will permit. That is the only way it leaves the Senate. And in the next few weeks, more facts about this bill will come out that will likely get Obama to the low forties. The dems need all 60 votes intact for a lousy bill to prop up a President who is unpopular(<50 in all major polls).Go figure

  502. pitchaboy@aol.com says:

Politically, if this crap passes, all the republicans need is to get the House back. They can refuse to fund it, and with a poor economy and high unemployment, dare Obama to go against it in 2011. He is looking more and more like a one-termer and if the circus of KSM is going around at that time, he is toast.

  503. pitchaboy@aol.com says:

And by the way, Wes, there are some excellent schools in Bahamas that my daughter’s school exchanges students with.

  504. KnightHawk says:

521 – why more and more I want to see -15 (45) or under constantly in RAS,needs to happen in time, not sure that it will but with the actions of the WH it’s almost like they are trying to grant that wish.

    night.

  505. pitchaboy@aol.com says:

The only thing keeping him in the 40’s is the stock market. When that goes down, as it will, he will make Bush look popular.

  506. Brutus says:

    All these Saturday night votes.

Just like a thief in a night.

Except this thief has a knive and isn’t afraid to use it.

  507. rdelbov says:

I tend to agree with Pitchaboy. They will get their 60 votes. At that point the ball is in Reid’s court. If he tries to ram things through he gets nothing. The Public option is a no go in the senate. Nothing takes effect in Reidcare and a trigger option would be in effect til 2020?? I despice the idea of this congress writting bills to be implemented in 2020. That’s silly.

Okay back to the point. So Reid either has to allow some amendments or its all or nothing. The GOP throw out 20 killer amendments plus the moderate democrats get their 20. I say half of these amendments pass. The bill may be doomed at this point as a public option is striped away and most taxes and fines are taken out.

Who knows the Moderates still may bail on the cost and the political price to be paid.

best case the date is now 12-24-2009 and maybe a bill goes to conference without a public option. That’s a big maybe as will the liberals vote for Obamacare without it?

In conference you get a hideous bill and the moderate fillbuster and its happy Valentine’s day with 10.5% unemployment. Healthcare is done and so am I.

  508. rdelbov says:

I think the market stays high as we learn to love the bomb. I mean th e 10% unemployment

  509. Diamond Jim says:

I E-mailed Senator Coburn to express my disappointment that Reid’s bill won’t be read on the Senate floor. The Republicans need to be hammered to have this done. In the end, it may not matter, but every opportunity to create delay must be taken. The reading would also be an opportunity to expose the bill to the public.

  510. phoenixrisen says:

    http://www.fox12idaho.com/global/story.asp?s=11539597

Another good article and links to anti-CrappyCare organizations:

    http://townhall.com/columnists/HughHewitt/2009/11/19/obamacare_can_be_stopped_reversethevoteorg

Yeah, I am the resident rational pessimist on CrappyCare as I dont see how the statist let go of this powergrab.

I still think they drop the government option and its done.

There is no real opposition to dropping it from the leftist elected politicians as this makes their lives a bit easier and they know its still a government run HC system and a long term lock for their political power.

They just have to put on enough of a show to keep the KOS crowd minimally appeased. If any of those KOS types dont really understand what a statist takeover they have even without a government option then they really deserve to be labeled as the “useful idiots” they are then.

  512. phoenixrisen says:

The remaining GOP senators of the Gang of 14 are back.

  514. phoenixrisen says:

I wonder if McConnell thinks that Reid is bluffing on getting 60 votes for cloture. Reid bluffed on Doctor Fix, think he is up to it again?

  515. MDefl says:

I read Wes’ note where he is starting his own blog and invited ? to contribute.

Could it be true? Could ? Be leaving? That would be the most wonderful Christmas present ever!

  516. sharon says:

521….I think it has become very apparent that no dem in office cares what the President or their own popularity rating is. I think they believe in short term memory and are relying on the ignorance of the American people to not understand and not remember a year from now what is about to happen. As far as Obama’s popularity, I don’t think he cares as long as he is getting what he wants.

  517. Tim says:

Mayor Giuliani dropping out of the Gov. race is very practical. Cuomo would have beaten him.

But, that Senate race? That, he could win….

  518. MDefl says:

    Phoenix,

He has the votes to start the debate. Not even Reid could be this stupid.

  519. Tim says:

    #536:
    LOL Good one, Mike!

  520. Tim V says:

mornin MD and Tim :) it is nice and quiet now. the last two days have looked to be threads of wes, chek, wes, chek, wes, chek. if wes started his own blog they would have privacy and not have to worry about EPH dropping by to harass or a gnat swarm.

i say go for it wes, start that blog. i might stop by to view a “girlie” pic you post.

wes and chek can do 200 comment threads all by their lonesome. have big joe and brandon and knight stop by and BANG you reach 500. invite buddies from the new majority and discuss how to remake the party without those dreaded social cons. where they gonna go anyway, to the dems. suggest a platform of just banning pba and you beat the libs dems right there.

find all those libertarian voters. polaris, knova, bring them along,,,

  521. MDefl says:

    Hi Tim.

    Been a while.

    Sharon,

He doesn’t care about polls. Oddly, he and Bush are similar in that regard.

The counterbalance to Obama is Sarah Palin. As someone not holding office, she can take him on in ways that others can’t. I know Dick Army can do that as well but let’s face facts; how many peopl will come out to see Dick Army? 50, maybe. Sarah Palin? Thousands. They sleep out to meet her. It is like a Bon Jovi concert in 1986.

Hi Tim V. You know that money I make? Sometimes, like now, I wonder if the stress is worth it. I need some Zanax in the worst way.

  523. MDefl says:

Dear God in heaven. Please grant Wes the strengthand vision to start his own blog.

    I like Wes, really.

Our only hope is that Byrd kicks off. Seriously.

  525. MDefl says:

    Tim #538,

Certainly, taking out Gildy is the easier path. Rudy remains popular in NYC and Gildy has tarnished her image as a Blue Dog since becoming a Senator. In particular, her vote on ACORN will not play well in upstate NY.

I do think, with a GOP tide, that Rudy could beat Cuomo. He may be the only candidate who could do so in the GOP. Further, Rudy’s background makes me think that he is more suited for an executive position. Still, I would rather have him in the Senate. Being a Governor is going to be a thankless job for the next several years, especially in the northeast.

  526. MDefl says:

    Bay,

A dem would be appointed. That would not solve the problem.

  527. MDefl says:

Rudy will have his challenges in a run against Gildy. There are large factions of the FDNY and NYPD who do not like Rudy.

He should win comfortably but he is going to have to campaign, something he didn’t do in the GOP primary for POTUS.

Allah Pundit won’t like the results of his own poll so far…calling Rudy a RINO candy-ass, and advocating for a “true conservative” that would have as much chance of winning a Senate race in NY as a snowball in hell is the type of thing that makes you wonder if the GOP won’t snatch defeat from the jaws of victory in 2010.

    Thank you for voting!
The true conservative! 17% (280 votes)
    RINO candy-ass Rudy Giuliani! 83% (1,334 votes)
    Total Votes: 1,614

The bright side is that the idiots who voted Dem are gonna be some of the loudest squealers. Unions, latte liberals, students just starting out in their careers, seniors. It will be priceless.

David Brooks is really drinking the Kool-aid….don’t upchuck your breakfast……this article is about “whath Geithner is doing right”

“I hate to rely on the most overused categories in punditry, but they really do apply here. Some administrations are staffed by hedgehogs, who are guided by a few core principles. But this one is staffed by foxes, who respond flexibly to situations. In the administration’s first big test, that sort of pragmatism paid off.”

I wish the administration was staffed by hedgehogs!!!

But it’s more like skunks and weasels.

  531. MDefl says:

Rudy is right for NY state.

  532. MDefl says:

    Bright side of what Bay?

  533. Hellbelly says:

    Jason,

Thanks for pointing out the Brooks column (I had not read it – probably because I try to avoid the NYT opinion pages until I’ve had a vat or two of vodka).

Brooks hasn’t just “jumped the shark”.

He pried open the sharks mouth and climbed in.

  534. Daniel G. says:

    Morning Guys,

    Hopefully Rudy decides really soon.
