Dina Titus (D-inc) 40%

    What the Heck?

  2. rdelbov says:

This was a +12 Obama district. even-steven is quite a move towards the GOP

  3. rdelbov says:

Today’s Sunday session was the most pointless endeavor. There was two totally pointless amendments that got voted down:

    1. Blanche Lincoln’s executive pay for HMO executives. This turkey lost 56-42 as 4 democrats said “no”. This amendment was so stupid. Why do insurance companies get the wrath of Lincoln while Drug companyexecutives, Bankers, Automobile presidents or hospital executives escape her wraith? Insurance companies oppose Obamacare that’s why. This turkey died.

    2. The GOP amendment seemed well intended. Senator wanted to limit the amount of money that plaintiff lawyers got in lawsuits. It failed and six GOP senators jumped ship. This amendment did not really address the main issues of Tort Reform and really stepped the rights of states to regulate lawsuits. It was a complete waste of time.

So that brings us back to all the real/main amendments. None of those have been tackled as of yet.

Obama came to Capital hill and spoke. He did not lobby individual senators nor did he address any divisive issues. Snore.

senator Reid-Durbin-Harkin can talk all they want. Rigth now we are still exactly where we were 3 weeks ago in the USA senate. Still short of 60 votes.

  4. jason says:

Some of the KOS kids are getting suicidal…it’s a darn shame….

“Of course, I do still have a sliver of hope. Perhaps a single brave Democratic Senator will stand up for the people. Just one lone Democrat will say, “I’m not going to compromise any further on the public option. If you weaken it further I’ll filibuster. If Lieberman can do it, so can I.” Or even better, perhaps a group of 11 moderates will agree to vote against the bill without a public option. Or maybe Obama will finally get off his hands and demand that the final legislation include a strong public option, since that’s what the public wants, or he won’t sign it. Then we could move on to reconciliation and finally accomplish something.

But I’m not counting on it. After a year in power, the Democrats have made it abundantly clear that they are just as corrupt as Republicans. So chances are, there won’t be a real public option. And I’ll be voting Republican.

I know, I know, I could simply stay home or vote 3rd party. But I’m too angry and disappointed for that. I want the Democrats to learn their lesson. After the Republicans rule for the next 20 years, voters will once again go to the polls to vote for change. And this time they’ll know we really mean it.”

  5. Brandon says:

And Heck will be the nominee, he was a former State Senator, while Lauer is just a law professor.

  6. jason says:

The MSM’s infatuation with Obama really knows no bounds….

“Obama’s election didn’t wash out the stain of racism. But it did give the lie to the myth that only whites are capable of some things. It moved us closer to the day when our descendants can say that the color line was not the problem of the 21st century.

If that doesn’t merit a Nobel, what does?

Ron Grossman is a Tribune reporter.”

So now the Nobel Peace Prize gets awarded to someone that (purportedly) “moved us closer to day our descendants can say the color line was not the problem in the 21 st century.” I nominate Tiger Woods for 2010.

  7. barry o. says:

“while Lauer is just a law professor.”

They said that about me too…

  8. rdelbov says:

Jason the radical liberal democrats always have the hope of reconciliation if they or the GOP hold out. That’s why Sanders or Burris or whoever can always walk on obamacare. They walk and then insist that reid try reconciliation.

Monday or Tuesday is a very crucial deadline day for all this. That’s because 12-18-2009 is the drop dead date for the spending bills. Reid cannot be sure that mcConnell will not fillbuster the spending bill.

Its a real time to cross one fingers and for anyone in CT, AR. LA or NBR to call your senators.

  9. jason says:

Ok it’s a slow night so here are some quips by Sarah Palin that got lots of laughs at the Gridiron Dinner.

Her book has no index so that people can check to see what page they are on in her book. Politico said she provided one: “A: Alaska, media not understanding it, page 1-432. B: Biased, Page 1-432.”

Other lines: “If the election had turned out differently, I could be the one overseeing the signing of bailout checks and Vice President Biden could be on the road selling his book, ‘Going Rogaine’.”

And this line: “It’s good to be here though, really, in front of this audience of leading journalists and intellectuals, or as I like to call it, a death panel.”

And: “Sometimes you just got to trust your instincts. And when you don”t, you end up in places like this.”

And: “You betcha. Who talks that way?”

And: “At least now I can put a face to the newspapers I do read.”

And on Frank: “And I’m the controversial one?”

And a dig at John McCain’s campaign staff: “The view is so much better inside the bus than under the bus.”

And on campaign manager Steve Schmidt: “If I need a bald campaign manager, I guess I’m left with James Carville.”

And the line about seeing a picture of the president and China’s president Hu Jinato and being told, “Hu’s the communist.”

Palin: “I thought he was asking a question.”

And her alternative title for her autobiography: “How to Look Like a Million Bucks for Only $150,000.”

And the line of the night (or what was reported so far) on her hotel room: “I could see the Russian Embassy.”

    Welcome back, Chek.

  12. Chekote says:

    Hey Wes!

All the moaning about me hijacking threads. Just about everyone acting like if it weren’t for me, a thousand conversations would bloom. Yet when I am gone the threads don’t have many comments. Too funny!

  13. jason says:

Well there is HC discussion continuing on the thread below, so don’t sprain your arm patting yourself on the back.

  14. Chekote says:

I saw that 78 posts for a whole day. I just want to know where everybody is and where are all the conversations I am constantly accused of preventing.

  15. jason says:

Frankly it doesn’t matter to me how many posts your have or don’t have, quantity does not mean quality.

  16. Chekote says:

The point is that it is silly to accuse me or anyone of “preventing” others from posting anything they like.

  17. jason says:

I haven’t been posting because I have been watching Brazilian and European soccer and the Broncos game all day..

Which I would of done even if you were here bashing Palin as usual.

  18. jason says:

I think the accusation is that you monopolize the blog. I don’t really agree since nobody is forced to respond if they don’t want to. I am one of those accused of providing you with “ammunition” which I disagree with also, I think you can have various conversations going on in the same blog.

  19. Chekote says:

I think you can too. What can I say Jason? Maybe no everyone can multi-task.

  20. Tommy_Boy says:

South Carolina? I guess that confirms Rasmussen

  21. Brandon says:

#21. It’s gotta be. Sanford is killing them down there.

  22. Chekote says:

    #22

I think the economy is bad there too.

  23. Tommy_Boy says:

    #22

But do you think he means Obama as well. Obama ought to be happy with anything over 42%.

  24. Tommy_Boy says:

The funny thing is if you ask plenty of Republicans, Lindsey Graham showing a poor approval rating is probably something that they would be happy about.

My guess is that Lindsey is trapped. He’s too conservative for Democrats and perceived as too liberal for Republicans and the indies dislike him because he’s an incumbent.

I suspect that Graham isn’t hitting 40% in South Carolina.

  25. Brandon says:

    24. Rasmussen had him at 45%. I think the large black population gives him a floor in the state.

  26. Tommy_Boy says:

    #26 Good point

I’m thinking DeMint is in negative territory as well. But that may be a misleading number considering that Jensen noted that there were some who considered even DeMint too liberal.

  27. Tommy_Boy says:

We should run Jenny Sanford and get rid of all these other people

64/21 with a Palinesque 29% very favorable rating. She’d dominate the primaries.

It doesn’t look like moderates are responding that favorably to Sanford, heh heh.

  28. Tommy_Boy says:

Graham has a 56% favorable rating with Democrats, hahahah.

Graham is absolutely the wrong guy to be in South Carolina. Against a good Democrat candidate, he’d be lucky to get 15% of those Democrats.

DeMint with a 41% positive rating from Democrats.

  29. KnightHawk says:

#3- “…It was a complete waste of time.”

Perhaps that was the point and if so, good.

  30. KnightHawk says:

“We should run Jenny Sanford and get rid of all these other people”

Please pass that doobie over here.

  33. Diogenes says:

You know, Joe Trippi said some interesting things on a recent CSPAN forum of partisan strategists. Republican infighting and the tea party movement would hurt republican incumbents as well and make the midterms more of awash.

I could really care less about Graham or DeMint or even the Maine sisters right now. They are with us on most votes. What I wouldn’t do for even a Gordon Smith right now to make sure the Republicans are at 41 votes instead of just 40.

  34. Mark Cali says:

Back to the poll – This used to be Jon Porter’s (R-NV) seat. (I called Independent voters during the 2008 campaign to help him retain this seat)

Now, I hope we win this one back (this was one of the biggest swing districts from GOP to Dem in recent years – thanks to Independent voters rejecting the GOP and likely, ACORN’s efforts in the Las Vegas area)

Dina Titus is an airhead. No surprise there, really (on the Democrat dimwit part) The poll numbers, however, are great news.

  35. MD says:

So now you believe Joe Trippi on GOP strategy. Yea, why don’t you consult with Carville next.

Please understand – they want us to act like them. We can never out Democrat, Democrats.

  36. MD says:

Although we did try that strategy from 2000 to 2006. It didn’t work out.

Follow the Reagan model. Not the idiotic ? model.

  37. Tina says:

Its always the R party that has divisions too. Seems like the D party has its divisions too – Crap and Tax and Obamacare.

  38. rdelbov says:

    Pearl Harbor day.

May we never forget their sacrifice.

  39. rdelbov says:

of course everything is absolutely behind closed doors. Here’s the latest rumour:

There is an idea of a privately created , non-profit co-ops with government supervision. Since its privately owned-non-profit(that part is a given) states do not have to opt in or opt out they may have regulatory obligation but no money on the table.

There is still some talk of a trigger or an opt-in or opt-out of a public option in future days.

I still say that I am waiting for someone(I do not know who) to say let’s pause and come back in January to tackle this puppy.

No one knows how this will play out.

  40. jason says:

“What I wouldn’t do for even a Gordon Smith right now to make sure the Republicans are at 41 votes instead of just 40.”

Gordon Smith? He lost a close but non-disputed election:

    But what about:
Norm Coleman – won by 700 on election night (despite Acorn and fraud), lost by 250 votes after rip-offs in “recounts” and “legal rulings”
Ted Stevens – lost by 4k votes after bogus indictments designed to elect a Democrat
Conrad Burns – lost by 3.5k votes after relentless media campaign and stolen Indian reservation votes a la South Dakota (Thune), where the reservations withheld the results until they knew how many votes Tester needed to win http://www.angelfire.com/planet/bigfiles40/WillmanTribalVoteFraud.htm
George Allen – lost by 8k votes after the WAPO ran over 100 stories on the macaca story and various “witnesses”, all partisan Democrats, came forward to allege Allen was racist, and even though he won as much as 25% of the black vote in previous elections.
Jim Talent – lost by 45k votes after crooked judges in St Louis kept polling places open for hours until McCaskill had enough votes to win in a election rife with all types of other fraud, including about 200k ineligible voters on the voter rolls. Not to mention Acorn:
    November 1, 2006
“The four indicted — Kwaim A. Stenson, Dale D. Franklin, Stephanie L. Davis and Brian Gardner — were employed by ACORN as registration recruiters. They were each charged with two counts.Election officials said some of the application cards had false addresses, signatures and phone numbers. The Kansas City Election Board told KMBC they found suspicious forms, such as seven applications from one person and an application for a dead man. Last month, ACORN claimed to have processed more than 35,000 voter registration applications in Kansas City since the summer”.

  41. jason says:

“I still say that I am waiting for someone(I do not know who) to say let’s pause and come back in January to tackle this puppy.”

Ok, what the heck, I’ll say it. Alert the press…. 8)
