FL: McCollum Leads Sink By 5%

Bill McCollum holds a 5% lead to see who will replace Charlie Crist as Governor in a new poll from Scott Rasmussen.

GOVERNOR – FLORIDA (Rasmussen)
Bill McCollum (R) 44%
Alex Sink (D) 39%

This poll was done December 14th among 1000 likely votes. Maybe someone from Florida can answer this question now that Crist is rapidly falling in the US Senate race. Can Crist still decide to remain as Governor if it looks like he can’t win the Senate primary race? Or is Crist already locked in the US Senate race at this point.

  2. Chekote says:

If the environment is soooooo pro-GOP, why is McCollum sinking? Again, I would not be so sure that Meeks is so easily defeatable.

  3. Tommy_Boy says:

    Chekote2,

I’m pretty certain Ras is going to show a good lead for Rubio against Meek.

  4. Phil says:

Sinking? He’s up 5 in what you like to call a “swing state”

What, with all the polling that’s been done you are telling us the environment isn’t pro GOP. He’s winning indies by over 2 to 1.

    Please give it up.

We need SEATS, SEATS, SEATS. That is if you guys want to stop Obama in the next two years. If you just want to sit around and feel good about your philosophical purity. Well, that’s another story…..

I will enthusiastically vote Crist if he wins the primary. You are suggesting that if he loses, he may switch to dem. You dont seem to have a problem with that. Im sure your reaction would be differnt if Rubio said he would run as a conservative if he lost. Then I’m sure you’d say he’s tearing the party apart. However if Crist did it, its because the conservatives pushed him.

  6. Chekote says:

    Phil

You do realize that if the unemployment numbers improve between now and 11/2010, the indies will go back to the Dems? The good polls numbers the GOP is enjoying is because of the lousy economy. Any good economic news going forward will be amplified by the MSM. Don’t make the mistake of thinking that the polls mean that people like the GOP again. They are just a reflection of the bad economy.

  7. Chekote says:

I think Rubio is tearing the party apart by running against Crist who was a sure seat. For what? How is Rubio running “helping” the party?

  8. rdelbov says:

I think is a good lead for McCollum. I think there’s no doubt that the substantial democratic base is solid for Sink. Most of the undecided will be swing voters who have trended GOP of late.

Meek is a far weaker candidate then Sink. I might add that I suspect many undecideds in the governor’s race are hispanics. Rubio-McCollum would be a powerful geographic and ethnic balanced ticket for the GOP

  9. rdelbov says:

Dr. Coburn has launched the 1st shot across Reid’s bow. He is having Sanders 700 page amendment-dealing with a single payer national health system read word by word. The 700 page amendment should take about 3 or so hours to read.

Check out Cspan II for the stunning sight

  10. Chekote says:

    Thanks for the heads up.

  11. Chekote says:

Again, the GOP is doing a great job frustrating the Dems in the Senate.

  12. BayernFan says:

You know, at first I would think that this tactic would have hte Dems up in arms, and would cause some of them who are wavering lean toward the bill.

But now I wonder if this tactic has the tacit support of people like Bayh, Nelson, Webb, Tester(?) et al who just want to get out of town already.

  13. Chekote says:

I think you are making a mistake in thinking that Hispanic will vote based on ethnicity. Hispanics and AAs vote for the Dem because they believe in big government. They believe in redistribution of wealth.

  14. phoenixrisen says:

#9 AWESOME!! Coburn fires the first shot. Redstate reports that readking this amendment could take 38 hours according to one calculation. This is probably to ensure that no bill will come to a vote for cloture before Christmas. Excellent! :)

    Good points, Bay.

  16. Tina says:

This poll is good news, the Rs may be in trouble here with the FL economy (Crist).

Crist is damaged goods given his support for the Obumbler; tax increases; and a poor economy.

    Meeks is a disater though.

  17. BayernFan says:

Woops, she messed up the word “medically”. I ask unanimous counsent for the Clerk to start over.

  18. Tina says:

Awesome, they are finally doing parl. tactics, tactics that I called for weeks ago. Thanks to Coburn and Mitchie for allowing it/.

  19. Phil says:

I wouldn’t run a Rubio in Pa or Connecticut.

However, in Florida against Meek? I’ll take that matchup every day of the week.

  20. Tina says:

That is all I ask, while the outcome is uncertain, its best to use all of your ammo.

  21. Tina says:

I can not believe that some here fear Meeks, who is a partisan radical leftist.

BTW – my local radio host made fun of the Obumbler at Home Depot. I know it was mentioned here but the guy is clueless. He is not even funny.

  22. Chekote says:

tactics that I called for weeks ago.

That was the plan all along. First used the amendment process to make the Dems take votes that would be difficult to defend during the campaign. Now that we are getting closer to the Christmas deadline, kick into high gear parlamentary tactics. Mitch has done a great job. Thank God they didn’t listen to the yapping chihuahua on talk radio.

  23. Phil says:

They are now saying the reading might take 10 to 12 hours.

    LOL

  24. BayernFan says:

    I emailed Bayh yesterday.

I know that he is agonizing over this. He SOOOOO does not want to go on the record on this. At all.

I think the “D” after all the Democrats’ names now means “Donner”.

  25. Chekote says:

I can not believe that some here fear Meeks, who is a partisan radical leftist.

So was Obama whom I declared politically dead once Rev. Wright’s tape surfaced. The last time I checked, he was elected POTUS.

  26. Tina says:

Al-ABC is upset about that tactic.

  27. Chekote says:

    Too bad.

  28. Tina says:

The Home Depot Messiah did not win Time Person of the Year.

  29. Tina says:

Phil, while I doubt that Crist would lose to Meeks, he appears to be in a world of hurt over his handling of the economy.

Did he come out early on in support of Obamacare?

  30. rdelbov says:

Coburn passed on reading the 2074 bill on 11-23-2009. At that time the three days (24/7) of reading would have been over thanksgiving. Right now we are in absolute rush to get budget bills passed.

Now is the time to pressure democrats. No legislative language or CBO score yet but McConnell and Coburn need to get an agreement that the GOP will have time to debate its amendments plus whatever Reid comes up with.

Now it is the time for procedure delays. I understand that when the final bill comes up that Coburn or whoever can force that bill to be read.

The Democrats have been trying to do things on their schedule. Its been mighty slow but at some point Reid will try to speed things up. Coburn and McConnel can force things now.

  31. Tina says:

Crist is a tax raiser, porkulous lover, and Gorebull warming discipile.

On those issues, he does not sound conservative to me.

  32. Tina says:

Rdelbov, thanks for the update. I like reading your posts and WEC.

  33. Chekote says:

Coburn and McConnel can force things now.

Bingo! BTW, Webb is absolutely right that the process of having five different committee craft five bill, plus all the amendment has been a total disaster. I honestly don’t know what is Reid’s bill. How can anyone vote for it?

  34. Chekote says:

    #31

Why are you still worried about AGW? Thanks to the release of the CRU e-mails, all their “science” is now getting the scrutinity it deserves. Copenhagen has turned into a circus. The whole AGW movement is imploding and you are still ranting about it. You need to learn to step back and watch the opposition self-destruct. You need to recognize when our side is winning.

  35. Tina says:

Andrea Mitchell blames Steele for Senate shut down of HC Bill.

  36. Hellbelly says:

re: 34 “You need to learn to step back and watch the opposition self-destruct. You need to recognize when our side is winning.”

    Thank you, General Custer.

  37. Tina says:

General Custer said that elections have consequences and was undecided about supporting the bill, HB…

    LOL

  38. Tina says:

The libs and R plants in the media are going to explode tonight…

  39. BayernFan says:

I was happy when McConnell was made min ldr and when he was reelected. I know many people didn’t think he should be the leader of the GOP Senators, because he wasn’t glib enough for TV. But when he was able to pretty much tie up McCain/Feingold for a few years, I knew that he was the guy to be the caucus leader. THAT is the skill set you want in a Senate caucus leader. Nothing else matters, imo.

  40. Tina says:

SEnate shut down by the Rs.

I can not wait to listen to the leftists and statists whine and cry tonight

  41. rdelbov says:

Tina I do not want you to think I am a toady who just waves in the wind and whatever McConnell/Coburn does it the right thing. The time for stalling has arrived and not just because of HC. Here is what the democrats want to ram through in two days:

    1. estate tax extension
    2. Unemployment benefits extenstion (part of stimulus II)
    3. Cobra benefits extension(part of stimulus II)
    4. Public works II-50 billion plus (these are shovel now??)
    5. extension of national debt (only three months but please come on)
    6. 650 Billion defense spending bill with DC abortion changes plus other none defense matters
    7. patriot act extensions

Plus a few other items. The house wants to be done today and let the senate chew on all these matters. Guess what?? Reid will not agree to let the GOP offer alternatives or have amendments or imput into these important matters.

Darn right its time to shut this puppy down HC or not. With two days to go before the house leaves town now is the time to grind this train to a halt.

  42. BayernFan says:

Now would be a good time for a quorum call. Need to break up those “negotiation” meetings in Reid’s office. I am sure Nelson could use a glass of water and a bathroom break. That lightbulb over his head is really hot.

  43. AuH2ORepublican says:

    Comment by Chekote — December 16, 2009 @ 12:46 pm

It seems to me your thinnking goes along the lines of this. If a conservative runs against someone from the center in a primary, they are being devisive and tearing apart the party. But if a middle of the roader switches to the other party, it is because they were pushed there.

  47. BayernFan says:

This tactic does give Harry and the Dims the chance to blame GOP obstructionism requiring them to delay the HC bill to next year so the Senate can get to other time sensitive items.

Hmmmm…….. dare we be so cynical as to think it has Harry’s tacit approval as well?

  48. Tina says:

Demint joins Coburn, they need to have other R SEnators in it.

They will do the same when entire bill comes out.

  49. Tina says:

Rdelbov, while we probably do not agree on everything, I went to bat for you when DW went back to being the sole contributer here. So, I do not think you are a toady.

  50. MD says:

GPO – Obviously, some can’t handle that Rubio has all the momentum.

Crist’s bro hug with Obama was his kiss of death. Senior’s now associate Crist with Obama who wants to cut their benefits.

Guess who has the #1 pop of senior citizens in our country?

    Buh bye Crist.

  51. Tina says:

The bro hug did not help, but its the economy stupid. I think FL has the third or fourth highest unemployment rate.

  52. MD says:

    Tina,

Yes, that obviously has an impact. However, the seniors are the most reliable voting block in mid term elections and I think, since most are retired, taht HC is the first issue in their minds.

  53. Phil says:

Crist really screwed up. Thought he’s cozy up to Obama when Obama was on top. Opportunism. Well, you tend to do that when you have no core principles.

Well, Obama isn’t on top anymore. Deal with it Charlie. It’s a closed primary. Only Republicans vote. Democrats can’t save you.

  54. Walt says:

Anybody seen this about these Dem state legislators?

    Pennsylvania
Former Speaker Indicted on Theft Charges
    Philadelphia Inquirer

Representative Bill DeWeese and former Representative Stephen Stetler — who resigned yesterday as the state’s revenue secretary — were charged with six counts of conflict of interest, theft and conspiracy in the latest round of criminal charges to grow out of the Bonusgate scandal. DeWeese, who has served in the House since 1976, must step down as majority whip, and will be demoted to rank-and-file status.

  55. Walt says:

Taking a cue from the Dems in the US Senate,
Dem on Dem trouble in MA state legislature:

    Massachusetts
Frustrated Lawmakers Block All Floor Action
    Boston Globe

Four Democratic lawmakers, angry over House Speaker Robert A. DeLeo’s refusal to provide an accounting of hundreds of thousands of dollars in tax-funded legal bills linked to indictment of Salvatore F. DiMasi, embarked on a highly unusual insurrection yesterday by blocking all floor action in the House.

  56. rdelbov says:

Tina its been a blessing in many ways that Dave took sole possession of his blog back. I enjoyed my time posting but I also knew that I needed to check what posted every few hours plus put things up to keep the conversation going.

I am intently watching all this HC stuff but I look forward to time away from Hedgehog. I might add these weekend sessions are hard on folks following this stuff as well as senators and staff.

On a side note if I see McConnell dropping the ball I will hammer him but so far he has been doing the right and the “right” thing.

As to the reading of the bill yes Coburn has to be on the floor while the bill is read. If he left someone could ask to dispense with the reading of the bill. So DeMint is backing Coburn up. if Coburn has to potty or needs something to eat DeMint can back him up.

McConnell right now may have plausible deniablity as to whether it was his idea or Coburn’s. Kinda like Durbin not knowing whats in the bill as everything is Reids

  57. phoenixrisen says:

Oh man, the Obama loving MSM is probably having a coronary right now. No way now Obamacare comes to a vote by Christmas and if the GOP keeps this up, things will get pushed into February or March. Now Obama is really going to press getting this done by the State of the Union address but it is doubtful it will come to a vote if the GOP has now opened up the parliamentary procedure guns.

  58. Chekote says:

    #37

I NEVER supported Obamacare. The fact that you constantly have to resort to lying speaks more about you than me.

  59. phoenixrisen says:

  60. Charles says:

Please ignore the frum plant, it has no clue or what’s actually going on here.

Crist and his boys crammed the Sun-rail through a special session of the FL Legislature, a bill that conservatives decidedly detest. Jim Greer, Crist’s boy and head of the FL GOP, has been very quiet as of late.

  61. Phil says:

I read this over at NRO:

Filmaker Michael Moore has demanded that the state of Connecticut immediately initiate recall procedings against Joe Liebermann or face a national boycott against Connecticut.

    BHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  62. Chekote says:

I see no point is having anyone run against a candidate that was a shoe in for keeping a seat in the GOP column. Why is Rubio running? What does he expect to achieve in the Senate?

  63. Chekote says:

    #61

You can’t recall people elected to federal office. I hope that Moore and his fellow loonies keep it up so that Lieberman switches to the GOP. Or at least caucuses with us.

  64. Phil says:

I am well aware of that. Moore and company are playing right into our hands.

  65. Chekote says:

I think FL has the third or fourth highest unemployment rate.

This is something that will help the Dems not the GOP.

  66. Phil says:

NRO now saying after reading the first 20 pages or so – at this rate – we are looking at 12 hours.

  67. Chekote says:

    #64

True. Watch MD and Tina start whining that the GOP leadership is not doing enough.

  68. Phil says:

Oh, I think Meek is going to need more than an unemployment rate – more like a miracle from God.

  69. Chekote says:

This is absolutely disgraceful. The GOP needs to include people who agree on 80% of the agenda

GOProud at CPAC creates controversy, calls for boycotts

Time to get the homophobes out of the party. You know who you are.

  70. Gary Maxwell says:

Meek is a very dim bulb, and since he comes from a majority minority district has not had to campaign in an election ever. He will be torn to shreds by either of the two Republicans. He was the only guy they could get to agree to run for the job. That should tell you what smart Florida Democrat officeholders think of any Dem prospect at the moment.

I think both are shoe ins

by your reasoning, the person to the right always needs to step aside.

  75. geauxlsu says:

I think people here are giving the electorate a lot more credit that I am willing to. Saying that Meek has no chance in hell is dangerous. First of all, we’re talking about Florida. Do we need to remind people that this is the state where people couldn’t figure out a butterfly ballot that most 3rd graders handled with ease when given a sample ballot. Also, we seem very quick to underestimate the ACORN effect and just how many already completed ballots are floating around in someone’s trunk. I think Rubio is a favorite over Meek, but to say Meek has no chance is foolish. I think Crist has more broad electorate appeal and would be more likely to siphon off votes from some conservative/moderate democrats than Rubio. Rubio will dominate the conservative vote for sure, but I don’t think he attracts as many voters from the middle as would Crist, thus making it a “closer” election statewide. I’m just saying…never underestimate the ability of the DEMS to cheat their way to a win. Would anyone have seriously thought we’d have a “Senator Franken”?

  76. Brandon says:

Thune is the third most popular Senator in the country:

“John Thune participated in two of the closest Senate races of the decade, narrowly losing to Tim Johnson in 2002 and then barely edging out Tom Daschle in 2004. It’s going to be a different story in 2010, as Thune looks likely to win in a walk.

Thune’s approval rating is 57%, with 35% of voters disapproving of him. The only Senators with better approval numbers than that among about 40 PPP has polled on this year were Kay Bailey Hutchison of Texas and Tom Coburn of Oklahoma.

Thune leads a generic Democratic opponent 56-33, which probably goes a long way toward explaining why he doesn’t have an actual Democratic opponent. He’s got Republicans almost completely united around him at 86-9, leads 44-37 with independents, and picks up a decent 22% of the Democratic vote.”

    campaign spot

Rubio: ‘Voters are starting to realize that there are vast differences between me and Charlie Crist on a number of important issues.’

Moments ago, U.S. Senate candidate Marco Rubio issued the following statement regarding the campaign’s growing momentum:

While our campaign’s growing momentum and progress is encouraging, I recognize we still have a lot of work and a long road ahead as an underdog running against a sitting governor. I’m encouraged that our campaign, which is built around mainstream Republican values and a positive vision for America, is beginning to receive support from so many Floridians. I also believe voters are starting to realize that there are vast differences between me and Charlie Crist on a number of important issues.

Throughout this campaign, I have asked Governor Crist to join me in a real debate of ideas. I strongly believe this campaign should be a debate about the best way forward for our party, our state and our nation on the issues Floridians care about most. Instead, Governor Crist has mostly chosen to ignore me or attack me. Lately, Governor Crist’s attacks on me have grown increasingly personal and removed from reality. Our campaign’s growing momentum helps explain why.

Now that this race seems to be tightening, Governor Crist has a decision to make. He can choose to join me on stage to showcase the differing views that exist within the Republican Party, speak honestly about our records, and allow voters to choose between two sincere yet different visions for the future. Or Governor Crist can try to turn this into every other campaign he’s ever run by going negative and dismissing an honest debate in favor of smears, sound bites and slick advertising.

Politics is at its worst when politicians place all their faith in money and negative advertising, instead of placing faith in the voters. But politics is at its best when individuals argue and debate ideas and let voters make an informed choice. I remain hopeful that Governor Crist will make the correct choice, and join me in a positive debate of ideas.

That’s a pretty innovative sorta-positive, sorta-negative message: “Come on, let’s not let this turn this race into a mudbath . . . you know, the way you always do.”

Awesome show of backbone by Senator Colburn – this has to be stopped by all means necessary….

I still say Nelson caves as its just working out the semantics on whatever pro-life language he wants (it will be promtly gutted by the courts or the technocrats anyways and the pro-aborts know this)….

As far as the timing on reading the bill, yeah now is crunch time so this whats need…

As far as pinning the R with Obstruction, that cant be a major concern at the momment as stopping CrappyCare is about saving the republic……

But, its very plausible that McConnell is wise enough to know he can use Colburn as his “rouge” in his cacus as he has always been the most staunch anti-CrappyCare opponent out there and has threatened to do this before….plus Colburn is practially untouchable and has now reached god-like heights of popularity in OK for opposing CrappyCare and the crazy spending….

Kind of like Lieberman was the easy “fall guy” to take all the anger from the loony left for Reid et al on dropping the government option as per the insurance lobby deal….

I see that the RNC has really latched on to this “Howard Dean wants the bill killed” and the left “hates it” crap – this is just a disinformation campaign by the DNC to let the base vent as they are mostly petulant children in the rank and file – the KOS WWW site is fostering this too as its a bought/paid for Soros/DNC organization…

In the end, all of the supposed “angry left” will take the huge victory that the HC takeover is – and certainly all the so-called “regressives” in the house and senate will all vote for the CrappyCare stealth takeover bill….

And thats my final point – the RNC is running ads saying CrappyCare must die due to costs, taxes, and someother $$$ related crap. All true but this doesnt hit the juglar….

Unless you attack that Individual Mandate, you will lose – period.

This is why we are about a fraction of a second away from Socialist Medicine cause we centered on the Government Option – this was never the most critcal or onerous piece of CrappyCare….

The Individual Mandate IS THE MOST CRITICAL ITEM as it is what compells participation, funds the scheme thru excessive premium (facilitates the stealth tax of cost shifting for government shortfalls), and creates dependency in individual and insurance firms thru subsides!

Not being a R insider, I dont know why this was not chosen as the focal point of attack as getting even one D Senator to come out against it would have been fatal – instead we allowed the illusion of being against government run HC by coming out against the government option welfare entitilement….

And thats the bottomline here – any spin to the contrary, if this passes you get socialist/government HC! The name game is the only difference!

But if you have to participate/purchase involutary a product designed by the “Health Choices Comish” or go to jail, you have 2 trillion or so in subisies/welfare checks being mailed out to millions, and you have absoultue regulatory control over insurance companies – folks, this is Socialist Medicine in all but name. Essentially, the providers and insurance companies are private contracted welfare agencies as the Feds are calling the shots….

Some of the rank and file KOSers may be too bitter or small minded to know this but we shouldnt be fooled – certainly Howard Dean is not and is putting on a grand show to ensure that this takeover goes thru…

The drama is all staged for this to pass soon, perhaps more outrage and Colburn like tactics can pull a hail mary and shake up the equation…..goal now is defintiely to push this into JAN….

IMHO the only way we avoid CrappyCare is push it past the MA special election and pray for a miracle Brown win….

  99. Tina says:

PMS – Contressa Brewer – its not fair to the clerk to blah blah blah.

  100. Sean says:

Is this Colonel Bernie Sanders (Socialist-Vermont) on the single-payer amendment?

  101. Tina says:

This is funny, I mean the damage of them reading the bill like this. Who can understand this? Its as if the clerk is speaking Korean, French, or another foreign language.

  102. Brandon says:

The Senator that offered the amendment should have to read it.

  103. Tina says:

Yes, the clerk is reading Colonel Sander’s entire amendment.

  104. Tina says:

It is the single payer amendment.

When do the Rino plants come on PMS???

  105. Chekote says:

    #103

    I like that idea.

  106. Phil says:

If Reid won’t slow down debate, we’ll do it for him

    Hahahaha

    Enjoying the show Rahm? Andrea?

  107. Brandon says:

How long has this been going on?

  108. Tina says:

    HAHAHA1!!!!

Poor Andrea, maybe she can get one of the RINOs, to say how much a bad man the SEnate Rs are…
    Where are the PMS Plants?

  109. Apologetic California says:

Did a moron actually write here that the former Speaker of Florida is a “blank slate”? Seriously?

  110. Brandon says:

Okay time to go again, hopefully they’re still reading when I get back.

  111. Tina says:

    Hours…

  112. phoenixrisen says:

The GOP has indicated they are going to do this on all the amendments and DeMint has said he will have the entire bill read..whenever that gets put on paper. Chek, you might be right. This looks like it is starting to fall apart. Reminds me of the long face that Hoyer had on his face when the House legislation didn’t make it out of committee before the August recess. Oh, the anger those congressmen are going to have to deal with from their constituents is going to be worse than it was then.

  113. Phil says:

    On page 68 now.

  114. Chekote says:

    Howard Dean against HC bill

    Well worth watching.

  115. Chekote says:

    #110

The governor of Alaska was a blank slate. Why not the Speaker of the House? What has Rubio accomplished in the legislature? I am still waiting for an answer for his supporters here.

  116. phoenixrisen says:

No feather in the cap for Obama for his state of the Union address. Dealing with angry constituents, having to face going on the voting record with legislation like this in an election year…I wouldn’t want to be a Dem congressmen in purple or red leaning districts.

  117. Phil says:

page 68 – a little over an hour to read that much. At this rate, at least another 11 hours.

  118. Chekote says:

Where are the CBO numbers? Anyone?

  119. Sean says:

CSPAN 2 says Coburn has left the room…

  120. Chekote says:

    Phoenix

Obama’s inexperience is showing. He should have put a proposal together. Present it to the Congress and then negotiate. Amateur hour in full display.

  121. phoenixrisen says:

No worries, DeMint is backing Coburn up and probably other unnamed Senators are as well. Andrea Mitchell sounds like she is starting to go ape realizing that Obamacare is dying before her eyes.

  122. Wylie E. Coyote - Super Genius says:

#94 Again, I would take the lefts theatrics for genuine opposition to CrappyCare as the Howard Deans of the world know this get them what they want….

Its a show for there hard core crazies to vent….

And its to lull us on the opposition side into thinking that this is real and genuine opposition or a serious attempt to stop it….

How many diversions to we need to fall for before we wise up….

Just like putting faith in Liberman to hold up or Stupak, etc to stop this we are going to be let down…..all are/were for the core elements – federal regulatory control and the Individual Mandate and taxes/subsides…..

Lets form opposition against whats matters and what will be fatal – the Individual Mandate….before its too late!

  123. phoenixrisen says:

This legislation is going to get pushed into March if it isn’t tabled before then. Hey Phil, this popcorn is GOOD!! You must have seen what was coming today ;)

  124. Phil says:

Lots of butter, lots of salt. Hey, you only live once. Enjoy!

  125. Charles says:

Rubio is very well known in Florida.

    Not to Frum-plants though.

  126. Hellbelly says:

so, Wylie….how do you feel about Individual Mandates :) ?

  127. Tina says:

Coburn leaves – Demint there – Demint Leaves – Coburn or another Senator returns.

They must keep this up for the entire amendment to be read, otherwise, it gets shut down…

  128. Chekote says:

    This will make Wylie happy:

Daily KOS: Strip the mandate, and put GOP on the spot

The mandate puts the government in the untenable position of forcing everyone to buy a shitty product from private companies enjoying ant-monopoly protections. Funny how all the measures that helped people in this reform bill were stripped out, but the one that screws over many people and bails out a failed industry (that doesn’t even need a bailout) somehow has no problem staying in. Yet another symptom of a broken government.

So here’s the deal — a progressive should step up with an amendment to strip out the mandate. He should get a non-Wall Street Republican to join him, be it Tom Coburn or Jim DeMint, one or more of those guys. And then force a roll call vote on the issue.

Republicans are then forced to make a genuinely difficult position. If they vote “yes” on removing the mandate, they help make the health care bill less electorally toxic, helping Democratic electoral chances in 2012, while also pissing off their insurance industry pals. If they vote “no”, then they are exposed as being just as culpable on the issue as the Democrats driving their party off a cliff. In addition, the teabaggers will be incensed, and as we know by now, they’re not shy about primary challenges.

KOS is so ignorant. The reality is that insurance companies contribute to Dems more than the GOP. Also, the mandate was included to make up for eliminating pre-existing conditions. Without the mandate, insurance companies will go broke as people will wait until sick to get insurance. I know I will….

  129. Tina says:

Has Andrea found any R plants to go on tv and say how bad the Rs are behaving, the Rs are the party of no, the Rs will lose seats, etc.?

    Where are the plants?

  130. Chekote says:

    Where are the plants?

    In your garden, silly.

  131. Chekote says:

Rubio is very well known in Florida.

Really? What has he done while in office? Name one accomplishment.

  132. KnightHawk says:

Finally some obstruction – 780 page sanders amendment being read on the floor.

  133. Wylie E. Coyote - Super Genius says:

#121 No, he aint an amatuer by a long shot. He and his hinchmen know exactly what they are doing.

He cant get tied to any specifics as once he does that he can be held accountable….

By being all things to all people he doesnt get pinned down as once people are very opposed to actual details and specifics of his plans….

He knows how CrappyCare is a stealth takeover and he is getting what he wants but if he supported any specific provision, say the Government Option then he would have allowed real oppostion to rally against him and the plan…..instead he let everyone on the left and right imagine that the plan contained whatever they thought it did, good or bad….all the time, the core elements never changed….and now at the very very late hour he is pulling the final rug out when its too late (probably) to really do anything about it…

Essentially, what we are getting folks is the 1993 HillaryCare plan almost verbatim!

    The left knows this……

Why does everyone in the Conservative media and on here lap up the RNC/DNC or CW talking point of the day instead of looking at the bigger picture of whats going on here?

  134. Chekote says:

    #134

There has been obstruction all along.

  135. KnightHawk says:

Pres to Dems “If you opposite this bill on principal you are committing suicide” – lolololololol

  136. Chekote says:

Why does everyone in the Conservative media and on here lap up the RNC/DNC or CW talking point of the day instead of looking at the bigger picture of whats going on here?

Did it ever occur to you that the rest of us are right you are over-reacting?

  137. KnightHawk says:

Nope, this actually slows crap down.

  138. Chekote says:

    #137

Wrists are slit already and the bleeding as started….. Obama is afraid of the screaming headlines “Obama’s top domestic initiative fails”.

  139. Chekote says:

    #139

The amendment process force many Dems to take votes they will not be able to defend. Great strategy all along. Great execution.

  140. Wylie E. Coyote - Super Genius says:

#129 Sure I would be happy if I thought that was genuine, but being the suspious type and knowing that the KOS is a paid propaganda arm of the DNC/Soros I dont think it amounts to a real effort….

Its red meat for the KOSers masses who have been conditioned to hate all things corporation….

Yes, I agree it would be wonderful if it happened – we agree on the broader point I guess – I dont love or hate the insurance companies – I love freedom and free markets – thats what I want and CrappyCare certainly is a short term boondoggle for Insurance Firms as it forms a goverment monopoly market….thus higher premiums and less competion….

However, the higher premiums sow the seeds of long term destruction of private HC and the KOSers certainly know that too…

We may even have that amendment….

However, all D Senators (all on the Bacus committee to include ultra-leftists like Rockefeller, etc) support the Individual Mandate and like the MediCare/Drug reimportation amendments are likely to put the takeover/short term deals ahead of their populist rehetoric….

Short term political points for the GOP only in 10 unless maybe they are smart enough to pile on this, pick up the anti-Individual Mandate drumbeat and get enough Ds to flip on it…..however, I think they would need 10 for an amendment….

I would perfer to get 1 D Senator flip to sustain the filibuster for whatever reason….

  141. Phil says:

Brutal numbers for Obamacare in NBC poll tonight.

How dare Republican senators slow down this overwhelmingly popular healthcare bill!!!

  142. Tina says:

KH – I have been saying this all along…

  143. Tina says:

SEIU – pulls back support of the bill, or at least they are threatening.

  144. Chekote says:

    Wylie,

The individual mandate is needed if we are going to eliminate pre-existing conditions. Otherwise, insurance companies will go broke and your only option will be the government. Eliminating pre-existing conditions is EXTREMELY popular with the public.

  145. Phil says:

Col Sanders has pulled his amendment.

I guess after hearing part of it read he decided it wasn’t so hot afterall.

  146. phoenixrisen says:

Phil, Andrea is already drowning in her beer.

  147. Wylie E. Coyote - Super Genius says:

#138 Yes, that occurs to me all the time but events, statements, and actions keep proving me correct…..

trust me – I really want to be wrong and laughed at on HHR as a crazy man if it means no CrappyCare

However, I still stand by my larger point – the government option was not the important component, the individual mandate was….

The failure to target the Individual Mandate and get a D Senator to flip on got us here today – opposition to the Individual Mandate = oppostion to ALL of Crappy/HillaryCare bills!

Heck, almost of the public and 75% in the conservative media cant explain or understand how this is still a takeover without the Government Option or Meidcare expansion…..and that confusion equates to lukewarm opposition at this point which greatly benefits Obamaites at this point….

Again, passage still likely unless some kind of hail mary or bomb is tossed out here to shake up the current dynamics of this….

  148. phoenixrisen says:

Heh, Sanders pulled his amendment?? Darn! Hey, send the next amendment over!

  149. Chekote says:

The amendment process did more to slow down and torpedo this bill than anything else. If the GOP had insisted of just reading the bills since the beginning, the public would have seen them as just obstructing and you could have had a backlash. The GOP is playing it just right. Thank God they are not listening to the yapping chihuahuas on talk radio.

  150. Howard Dean says:

    AP

Despite a one-on-one meeting Tuesday with President Barack Obama that lasted 30 minutes, Sen. Ben Nelson, D-Neb., said he still has concerns about abortion and other issues. Nelson, the only known holdout among 60 senators whose votes are needed to move the bill, said it had been his third meeting in eight days with the president.

Obama “made a strong case for passing health care reform now,” said Nelson. “But I think it still remains to be seen if it was compelling.” The legislation needs to be improved, he added, and liberals resisting his proposals — even saying the bill should be scrapped — are running out of alternatives.

“I do say if nothing is done, I’m not sure what Plan B is,” he said. “If Plan B is start over…it’s quite possible that it just won’t happen. It seems to me that we have a chance right now to fix a flawed bill.”

  151. phoenixrisen says:

Someone enlighten me. Can a GOP senator demand a GOP amendment be read?

  152. Tina says:

Maybe, the Colonel decided to sell a bucket of chicken instead?

  153. Howard Dean says:

SEIU withdrawing support? Dean saying kill it?

If Nelson gets abortion language that might kill it.

    The left is BOILING over.

  154. Chekote says:

Still using that idiotic OECD report comparing apples and oranges rating the US as 37th in the world. The US has higher rates of murder, obesity, HIV infections, high speed accidents. That’s why we have higher costs and mortality rates. Nothing to do with the quality of of our healthcare. Also, other countries have lower costs because they RATION. That is not a politically viable solution in this country.

  155. Tina says:

How does that effect the reading of the bill, if any?

  156. Chekote says:

  160. KnightHawk says:

144 – Yes you have – your use all ammo comment up thread was spot on as well.

  161. Tommy_Boy says:

What that Pew poll shows is we have some real dipshit Republican self-identifiers.

    Among Republican-leaning indies, Obama’s approval is 17%.

    Among conservative Republicans, it’s 12%.

    Among moderate/liberal Republicans, it’s 35%.

  162. Wylie E. Coyote - Super Genius says:

#146 No crap that the governement must force you buy insurance now if they essentially tell the insurance companies to dole out money as if they are a welfare program lol

One bad government intervention (ie no preexisiting condtions) is justification for another bad government intervention (ie the mandate)

I understand its popular as with the public but that were prehaps its best to actually try to educate the public on what it really means – its the equalivent of allowing people to buy auto insurance after they have the accident!

But practially speaking, you can also explain to people that there are alternatives that accomplish the same effect for people who thru no-fault of their own genuine have inherited medical conditions or such that meet the real defintion of “preexsiting” not the buy-after-discovering sickness crowd. Things like state high risk pools are out there now that can be enhanced to take care of this which is much better then redefining insurance to be welfare!

Again, the idea is to unravel the bill – kill the Individual Mandate and you kill the whole bill. Practially, the $$$ cash to fund the scheme evaporates. The pre-exisiting condition rule dies with it….

  163. Tina says:

Well KH- the more you delay, etc., the more you can get it to the net year and all bets are off.

    Sanders amendment still being read…..

  164. f9gopguyin says:

gah listening to senator sanders speak is almost as bad as when we had to listen to senator kennedy speak

  165. Tina says:

Baucus, we can not certify the bill – thus, the reading of the Bucket of Chicken amendment.

  166. sam says:

Covering pre-existing conditions is not insurance.

It is finding somebody to pay after the fact.

  167. KnightHawk says:

165 – Yup, though cspanII seem to be replaying earlier, not the active reading… too boring even for CspanII I guess.

  168. KnightHawk says:

oh wait my mistake they have sanders on the floor ranting now live.

  169. Chekote says:

Thank God Mitch followed his own instincts instead of listening to the professional whining group on the Right.

  170. Chekote says:

    #168

I know but it is very popular.

  171. Chekote says:

Sanders was ranting about the OECD report.

  172. Tina says:

I guess then once he pulls it, there is nothing to read further, per Senate rules.

  173. sam says:

Getting somebody else to pay is always very popular.

  174. Waingro says:

They are pulling the amendment. Hilarious.

  175. KnightHawk says:

I can’t believe you can listen to him, I just have it on mute. lol
I hope he rants for hours on end…. just eats up more and more time.

  176. Chekote says:

    #175

Yup! Unfortunately, those people vote. I think we are getting to the point where we have make sure that people have skin in the game before they are allowed to vote or this country will fall apart.

  177. Tina says:

Let Colonel Sanders rage in the Senate and eat up more clock.

  178. Wylie E. Coyote - Super Genius says:

#155 As much as I like to buy-in to the “impolsion” theory I aint biting….the Leftists always lie….

SEIU prez has been at the WH 22 times!

What SEIU care about is millions of new dues paying government employees that will be hired to run the 100 new CrappyCare agencies….

Look, I dont discount that lots and lots of the nutroots base is PO’d at this – they are overgrown children who think/react emotionally ie thats why they are liberal lol – however, the leadership of Obama, Dean et all arent that dumb and they know this is a HC takeover in every regard excep they cant overtly put the name “US Government” on the front cover!

What SEIU and Dean are doing amounts to giving a baby his pacifier and getting him to quiet down!

Lets not fall for this ruse but lets continue to address things that many disrupt the CrappyCare dynamic – I would perfer to see the GOP/Conservative media spending time telling people how the Individual Mandate allows the government to run HC, take their freedom, and fleece their wallets – then ask people to call the Nelson and Webb’s of the world to oppose the Individual Mandate….

At this point, Webb might actually be a more reasonable and open minded target to flip at this point……he is an reagan sec of the Navy and a Naval academy grad – he might actually get the loss of freedom aspect and respond positively….he can also read polls in VA and understand what the VA governors race really ment for HC

  179. Chekote says:

    #177

Actually, Sanders is pretty entertaining. He is fuming. This HC is like Jenga. With each amendment, the tower is getting more and more unstable.

  180. KnightHawk says:

We should find a way to get our own amendment or attachment to an amendment introduced that’s 5000 pages and force ourselves to read it. :) That’s a couple days right there.

Gee anyone thing this Hutch\Thune amendments going to pass…lol not.

  181. Chekote says:

How much longer before we can yell JEEEEEEEEEENGA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    That’s how it feels.

  185. rdelbov says:

Cadillac tax is a huge hit for unions. Heck the changing of the 7.5% medical deduction rule is a hit on me.

Durbin-Harkin-Reid can talk up 60 votes but its getting really shacky out that.

Yup while I was gone-minutes ago-Bernie Sanders pulled his amendment. That ended the 12 hour reading fest. Reid is content with day by day on amendments with no guarantee as further debate once he gets to 60 votes.

In addition we seeing the worst sort of year end ramming through of Christmas tree type legislation.

Okay me let me explain what a Christmas tree bill is. Reporters do not Christ mas tree bills anymore. Its a bill that is going to pass or is a must pass bill so senators and congressman hang or attach amendment after amendment to this bill. I noticed that on the defense bill, somewhere in there, is an amendment increasing the pay of federal workers. One can argue whether that is a good idea or not but attaching to a must pass defense bill is a lousy way of doing things.

  186. Wylie E. Coyote - Super Genius says:

#178 Well fortunately, at this point their are still many more people paying that private premium then on the gravy train so I think they get that there are better ways to help people with genuine conditions beyond there control then to enact in law a provision like “preexsiting condtions” that gives the freeloaders a pass to wait to buy….

Even with the Individual Mandate, we see many many more people using the pre-exisitng condition clause as welfare as they soon fiqure out its cheaper to pay the fine then to actually buy insurance yearly….

Eventually more and more scam like this and premiums (and government subsides/taxes) go up up up and private insurance rolls go down down down – plus the people who scam are the ones that cost the least amout for the insurance companie ie the young and healhty – what is left on insurance rolls is only the old and sick…

Its called the insurance “death sprial” and thats what CrappyCare is designed to do – kill off private insurance!

We see this happening in ME and MA who essentially have the CrappyCare at the state level….

I spoke to an insurance agent in ME, he said before ME enacted state leve CrappyCare with the Individual Mandate/preexisting condition scam they went from 21 companies selling insurance down to 2 in a few years! Less competition, less choice, more government control and bill paying!

Howard Dean et all arent idiots – they know this….

  187. Corey says:

#129 Only problem with KOS theory is all Republicans except Snowe on the Bacus committee voted against the Mandate already (10 of 11)

Only six others may be likely (Bennatt and his 5 other R co-sponsors of Wyden-Bennett)….

    Colbur/DeMint are cetain no’s….

Unlikely that much more then 5 or 6 R would vote to keep the individual Mandate….

Based on the Bacus Committee vote where ALL 13 D voted to keep the mandate, a vast majority of the D would vote to keep the mandate and help their “evil” insurance pals!

This has been the pattern on MediCare/Drug reimportation plans – the D siding with their new freinds in the $$$ lobbies to get the stealth takeover with the price of short-term enrichment…

But the point is the D have side with the special interest/big industry and the GOP has sided with the people!

Shhheeesh, KOS is a poor observer of the amendment/committee voting behavior and a piss-poor political strategist as it would further expose his D cronies to a bad amendment vote!

Plus, it would actually give the GOP a chance to stick a danger straight into the heart of CrappyCare – dont think it would happen as all the liar D would vote to keep the Individual Mandate as they have in the past – but it would be a potential fatal opening….

Man, the DNCers must really think their base is dumb that they would have KOS put out something like that lol

It should be a close fundraising race this quarter between him and Grayson.

  199. Corey says:

What do you mean, not even me? Do you think I’m the Canadian Cory?

  200. Tina says:

  201. D QUIXOTE says:

Pre existing condition== used to be called insurance fraud

  202. Wylie E. Coyote - Super Genius says:

#205 Well, finally some truth lol

Yep it the politicans/FED who “cant afford HC” due to 38 trillion in unfunded MediCare promises….

They need more “suckers” to pay into their pot to keep the scam going another 10 years or so then impolde it into singele payer hense the scam to fleece the young and healthly with the individual mandate and its cost shiftin’……then fleece everybody with the higher taxes…..and finally death panels to ration care…

Yep, CrappyCare is also a great cover for not owning up to the MediCare insolvency!

See we private citizens cant even spend “too much” on our own HC or have a spending problem as its our money to spend as we see fit!

However, the government has painted itself into a tight corner!

#206 To be fair, their are a very small group of people who are born with things like genetically inherted condition etc thru no fault of their own who have expensive medical care needs…..

But how to takecare of them should not involve ruining real insurance for the rest of us by allowing freeloaders a big loop hole in the system…

Charity, private or public for genunie cases is appropriate….

Plus, their are insurance plans like high-risk pools that have ways of covering them without overcharging or destroying insurance the rest of us have!

Bush used to be scoffed at for his cautionary remarks on the War on Terror. But, when you follow the left/dims language it makes Bush appear flowery, in comparison.

Going back to something said earlier…..I would be at all surprised if ReidCrappyCare is dropped in total and the supposed “bipartisan” Wyden Bennett takeover bill is rolled out…

Same scam – HillaryCare times whatever; mandates, subsides, expanded government, regualtory control, etc….

Disapproval of the job that Congress is doing has risen to 68%, “an all-time high,” and 77% among independent voters.

The poll, conducted Dec. 6 to 9, surveyed 1,000 registered voters. It carries a possible margin of error of plus or minus 3.1%

  270. Wylie E. Coyote - Super Genius says:

#267 The key word is the “Considering” they did NOT (and I say wont ever say) they now oppose it!

This is just like Senator Burris saying he would oppose any bill that does not “meet the goals” of a public option…

Again, a snow job for the leftist base to say “we are with ya, we tried” and appease them….

Its also designed to have us watch the show, get lulled into inaction, and be caught flatfooted when they move on CrappyCare…

Again, why we react to the DNC talking point of the day instead of staying with a consistent attack strategy against something that matters and is fatal is beyond me….

But I am the “wet blanket” dude who to date, has called this pretty much correctly…..

  271. Jan says:

Once in a blue moon beating you, Chek! LOL

however, a Cloture vote from the Senate is still entirely possible by Xmas and that in effect confirms the inevitable passage of CrappyCare!

Cloture yes vote = CrappyCare passes! thats my point….I want to see CrappyCare dead with a stake thru it heart!

  278. Jan says:

    #282 I like that suggestion!

  279. Wylie E. Coyote - Super Genius says:

#259 Really? Primaried – not likely! Only if Bennett of Utah is stupid enough to stand by his earlier sucker deal with Wyden and support the Individual Mandate!

  280. Chekote says:

Seriously, Bernanke should be prosecuted for LYING before Congress about the purpose of TARP. They NEVER had any plans to buy MBS.

  281. Corey says:

    Tough crowd here.

  282. Jan says:

    WEC

It’s bound to be a cat and mouse game on everything with the dims. But, for now the momentum on HC has been slowed, not necessarily averted. And, the more you can avoid passing this bill the higher the likelihood that it will encounter even more obstacles, especially over the holiday break.

So, I personally feel a minor celebration is in order!

  283. Wylie E. Coyote - Super Genius says:

#256 Translation – “I am 100% down for CrappyCare but need to put on a good show for my radical leftist base/donors and/or milk Reid/Obama for my bag of $$$/payoff too”

Thats what all of these statements from Ds amount too right now – when they say “I cant support the bill if contains an Individual Mandate” then we have something there!

  284. Wylie E. Coyote - Super Genius says:

#289 true, but we have people staring up the “its dead” matra which is totally premature…..progress is good but its not been enough for me to get excited about…..we are one back room deal away from a cloture vote….

Polls in Nebraska must be horrendously bad for there to be such huge show for Nelson’s political cover lol

  285. Jan says:

Well, I guess if it was interpreted that Bush lied about WMDs, then it is fair play to say the Bernanke lied about TARP.

  286. D QUIXOTE says:

Bennett is getting toasty , good riddance

  287. Tina says:

Sorry, somebody rang my door, and could not listen further ot Hannity.

  288. Benny says:

    Folks

    Chekote is right

Normally I am not agree with him

OK BHO won in FL but this was very special and till Oct he had had no chanve there and I am sure FL will be not in play -even with good economy numbers-

    Rubio is too conservative

he needs more time to make a good name

    like Palin is doing now

  289. Tina says:

We won a tactical victory today, but we must be ever vigilant, Reid may not even run again, so he may be even more certain to try to pas it.

  290. phoenixrisen says:

Benny, there is no such thing as being too conservative….unless you’re a liberal troll ;)

  291. Jan says:

    WEC

Most people understand HC is not officially dead until it is officially dead. But, I kind of like the optimistic affirmations people have about it’s eventual death.

In some alternative circles it is believed that we make our own reality. So, if we stay positive about it dying, that may give such thoughts a good matrix in which the demise of HC can be realized.

  292. Tommy_Boy says:

Zogby has a comical Florida poll out today as well

  293. Tina says:

Al Zogby state poll? Where’s ppp -D?

Gee, according to Ras, Rubio has a larger lead than Cristie.

  294. Waingro says:

    Crist is so done:

“Crist’s edge over Meek is down from a 12-point lead in October.

The reason for the difference is that 79% of conservatives support Rubio but only 62% say Crist can count on their vote. Twenty-four percent (24%) of conservatives say they’d prefer either a third party option or are undecided. If Crist were to win the nomination, it is likely that many of those voters would end up supporting him over Meek.”

  295. Tina says:

Crist – is hurt by the economy, tax increases, Gorebull Warming, and the hug a thug photo with the Obumbler.

  296. Tina says:

Is the Colonel selling some chicken in the senate still? Is he raging on the senate floor? What the heck is going on there?

  297. Wylie E. Coyote - Super Genius says:

#301 I totally dont want to ruin anyone alternative univerise happiness or any such thing but personally I see no cause for joy in todays events….marginal progress at best toward the goal of killin crappycare….

Actually, what I see is more people getting carried away with the talking point of the momment…..but hey, you have a right to be happy of course….

We live in a universe where some people like ht KOSers would be happy with CrappyCare lol

  298. Chekote says:

Are these the same polls that predicted a Hoffman win?

  299. Wylie E. Coyote - Super Genius says:

#295 How is that trouble for Nelson? That puts him in way better shape then B. Lincoln – evidently the political cover tricks are working as 51% percent of those in Nebraska dont really think that he will sell them out on CrappyCare lol

  300. Waingro says:

Hoffman was never up by that much in any poll, nevermind 8 months away from the vote.

  301. sam says:

    As the great InstaPundit opines:

“OBVIOUSLY, SOMEONE SHOULD BE PROSECUTED, LIKE WITH ENRON: U.S. National Debt Tops Debt Limit. ”

I have already made my nomination: Giether, Bernanke, Paulson, Reid, Pelosi, and Obama.

And all who voted for Porkulus I.

  302. Apologetic California says:

So let me get this straight, Rubio is leading the Dem at twice the margin than that of Crist, and somehow the Cuban is the spoiler. :/

  303. Tina says:

Yup, that is correct, in the world of the plants.

  304. Benny says:

For all of Thune’s popularity in the state though, South Dakota voters don’t want to see him run for President in 2012. Just 28% are supportive of the idea with 55% opposed. PPP has found similar trends with Bobby Jindal in Louisiana and Tim Pawlenty in Minnesota. Among voters who like the job Thune’s doing in the Senate only 43% want him to make a run for the White House, perhaps reflecting a sentiment that good Senators are hard to find and you need to keep the ones you’ve got on the job.

  305. phoenixrisen says:

That Ras poll on the Florida senate race indicates that support for Rubio among the base is far stronger. Crist is toast.

  306. Brandon says:

#314. They don’t want to lose a good senator.

  307. Benny says:

Hi Tina why are you so against gay people??

I think it is one thing to be against gay marriage but to be against the people is stupid

  308. Brandon says:

Also Rubio is up 58-22 among Hispanic voters, while Crist is tied at 30.

  309. JulStol says:

    KOS Plant,

No, PPP predicted a Hoffman win. Now please, leave.

  310. Brandon says:

Siena had Hoffman up too I believe.

  311. Chekote says:

    Brandon

People here never learn. Everyone thought that Hoffman was going to win. Sorry by Rubio is too conservative and the Dems are praying to go against him. All he has done so far is damage Crist.

  312. Tina says:

    Benny,

Where did you get that I am against gay people?
If its about FL, I have made only the follownig remarks:

I think Cristie would be the stronger Candidate.

Both R choices can beat Meeks.

I could care less what homosexuals do in their bedroom.

  313. Chekote says:

    Jul

You will be leaving the party before I will. Now CPAC is allowing gay Republican groups at their meeting. The process of flushing out the TheoCons has began.

  314. Tina says:

Above all Benny, I said let the primary process work itself out and not let the R party establishment select a candidate.

  315. Chekote says:

    #322

Then why make the comments about Crist hiding in his “closet”? Tiri il sasso e nascondi la mano.

  316. Tina says:

    Couldn’t care less.

Anyway off to the mall I go.

  317. Gary Maxwell says:

Rubio is up 58-22 among Hispanic voters,

That cant be right. Because we were told differently this AM that Hispanics vote for big government regardless. 2 – 1 ? Which to believe, my lying eyes or ?

  318. Chekote says:

    #327

One or two polls is not an election. We are months away. Palin got great polls too when she first came on the scene.

  319. KnightHawk says:

“Gee, according to Ras, Rubio has a larger lead than Cristie.”

Sort of punches a couple whole in certain theories.

  320. Gary Maxwell says:

    Shorter ?

I was wrong but cant admit it.

  321. Gary Maxwell says:

    Again

  322. Gary Maxwell says:

    Still, more likely.

  323. Chekote says:

    Poll: Clinton approval soars

In the poll of 800 registered voters who are self-identified “news watchers,” Clinton had a 75 percent approval rating and a 21 percent disapproval rating overall. Obama, in contrast, had a 51 percent approval and a 45 percent disapproval rating.

75% approval for Hillary. And people here were celebrating 46% approval for Palin.

  324. Chekote says:

    #329

We are months away from the election. All Rubio has done so far is damage Crist who was a shoe in.

  325. sam says:

Hillary has high approval because people don’t want to think ill of the dead.

And, because she has no potential to harm anyone anymore.

  326. Waingro says:

#335, she is going to run for Dem Primary in 2012. Bank on it.

  327. Apologetic California says:

Guys, let’s look at this poll ( you know, done by the same pollster who earlier was credible enough when it showed McCollum leading outside M.o.E) and tell me which candidate is the “shoe in”.

    Florida Senate(Rasmussen)

    Rubio 49%
    Meek 35%

    Crist 42%
    Meek 36%

  328. KnightHawk says:

334 – You say that like it’s a negative thing, welcome to primaries.

  329. sam says:

Who cares if she runs? She was dead politically the moment she joined the cabinet.

She lost to an inexperienced street hustler when she was at the height of her power. She is fairly stupid.

  330. Waingro says:

#337, the answer is both! But I doubt your great point will be well taken :)

  331. KnightHawk says:

337 – AC, there you going expecting consistent logic from her again…

  332. Waingro says:

#339, ha. I didn’t say she’d win! But I would love to be a spectator to Dem Civil War Part 2.

  333. KnightHawk says:

342 Definitely would be fun to watch, again.

  334. Darrell says:

Where are all the people who months ago were saying that FL must go with the GOP candidate polling the best again the Dem? Then it was Crist, but now its Rubio…does that rule still apply?

  335. rdelbov says:

In reality many of the hispanic voters would come around and vote for Crist. The hispanic population is obviousily strong for Rubio.

Rubio in my opinion has won the battle of public opinion.

Crist will hang around but that Obama hug has cost him big time

  336. Victrc says:

That’s what I don’t understand about you chekote. Rubio is a great fit in florida. He appeals to the Hispanic demographic that you say we need to capture. He’s young, something you say we need to become younger and hipper, and he’s going to appeal to seniors because he hasn’t associated himself with Obama who they now see as their enemy. He’s done a good job as speaker of the Florida house, so he has experience. He’s fiscally conservative something you claim we need to be, and his message has always been fiscally responsible as the lead…so whas your problem with him other than he’s also a social conservative Which he does t put at the forefront of his campaign.

He can obviously win, so again, what’s so wrong with him??

  337. Jan says:

As Tina said, the primaries will decide who the GOP candidate is. I disagree that Rubio is a “spoiler” at all. Throwing his hat in the ring has only gives Floridians options. Whoever wins will be the people’s choice. I think Chek you “assuming” Crist is the better candidate is someone giving their opinion afar from the state of Florida itself.

Personally I find it fascinating that Rubio appears to have caught up with such a popular politician that people are saying Crist is. Either that “popularity” was superficial, to begin with, or it is waning with the political winds and circumstances of the day.

  338. Phil says:

What’s wrong with him? He’s a conservative. Frum wouldn’t approve of him.

It’s not and never has been about possibly losing the seat to Meek.

    She wants country club Republicans.

  339. Tommy_Boy says:

    Vic,

Actually, Chek doesn’t feel we should appeal to Hispanics because she somehow has in her mind that people who lean socially conservative (as do Hispanics) are not fiscal and economic conservatives.

  340. D QUIXOTE says:

He can obviously win, so again, what’s so wrong with him??

    Comment by Victrc

    He isn’t a rino.

  341. MD says:

? HATES conservatives, period. End of story. Funny, even moderates on the board wind up hating him after a period of time.

A very sick person. Mentally ill with a combo disease of OCD and Oppositonal defiance disorder.

  342. Tim says:

    #336:
No, she won’t. Unless, President Obama decides not to run.

  343. Phil says:

Another couple of polls showing Rubio running significantly better against Meek than Crist, and I think you’ll see Crist drop out. Maybe wait and run against Nelson in 2012.

If Crist can’t run any better than this, why should Florida Republicans support Crist in the primary. His main thing going for him was that he was supposed to be the candidate that could best keep the seat in GOP hands. Well, that seems to have evaporated so who needs him?

Hey Charlie, you can keave the stage now.

  344. MD says:

Rubio appears to be the better candidate for this cycle as Crist proved to be his own worst enemy.

Only a stone cold moron could come to another conclusion at this point.

    It is very simple.

    1. Crist supported Stim
    2. Crist bro hugged Obama
    3. Seniors, a humugous voting block in FL associate Obama with a reduction in benefits
    4. Therefore, Crist is now linked into that association
    5. Rubio is against that reduction and is Latino giving him a big advantage since Latino’s in FL are socially conservative

I am sorry to draw by numbers.

  345. Tim says:

I thought “him” was a her?????

  346. MD says:

    Tim,

I am 80% with you on that. Still, I do think there is a chance it could happen. If his approval ratings fall into the high 30’s at some point then she might consider it.

The question is would she run to the left or right of Obama?

  347. MD says:

355 – Actually IT would be a more apt description.

  348. MD says:

    Phil,

Crist appears to be political poison right now. He basically blew a 30 point lead in 4 months.

The dem may win if Crist is the nominee because the Latino vote will either go dem or stay home. Same with the senior vote unless the dem runs to the right of Crist on HC.

  357. Tina says:

Crist is poison because of his stances – the FL economy is really weak right now.

I see the Ds have not selected a centrist candidate in Meeks.

  358. Chekote says:

DQ is homophobe number 1 to flush out. What if acroso is gay? Why does it matter? I am more concerned about the fact that he is still losing sleep over Saddam being removed from power.

  359. Tina says:

  360. Chekote says:

    #367

Having you learned anything from Obama? He is as radical as they come and yet he was able to pass himself off as a centrist. It all depends on the presentation, temperament.

  361. D QUIXOTE says:

Is that a reason to demonize someone? ??????

Like your never ending demonization of:

    White males,
    Southerners,
    SOCONS,
    “Homophobes”
    Palinistas,
    Evangelicals,

  362. Tina says:

  363. Chekote says:

Hillary lost because she believed the polls showing her way, way, way ahead months before the primaries started. Let that be a warning to all who are rejoicing today for Rubio.

  364. Tina says:

Meeks also has a record unlike Zero, your ignorant of FL politics.

  365. Tina says:

I just wonder when the FL R(ino) party will try to select the candidate.

  366. Chekote says:

I don’t call them mentally ill like MD keeps on doing. I just say they are wrong. I also say that politics and religion are a bad mix. And if people have a problem with what I post about Palin, then they have a problem with her record. None is demonizing.

  367. D QUIXOTE says:

Someone needs to look up the definition of homophobe sometime.

    ????? confuses fear with disdain.

  368. Tina says:

Also, it appears that the former FL Governor and the current person running to replace Crist – are running away from him.

  369. Victrc says:

    Chekote

have you attended CPAC? Last year I met with a group of log. Cabin republicans there last year. Again you allow a miniscule portion of the fringe of the movement to be your representation of mainstream conservatives, social conservative especialy. Last years conference was so heavily attended and pre registration up so much that they’ve had to move to a larger facility.

The tiny fringe that is protesting will have no impact at all on attendance. Stop trying to use fringe groups (who will be found in any movement) to identify the entirety.

  370. Chekote says:

You do have a problem with gays.

  371. Tim says:

Mike, I have been wondering lately if Crist might not decide to run as an Indy, in order to assure an appearance in the GE.

And, if I’ve thought of that, I bet his people have, as well.

  372. Chekote says:

    Hi Vic

Is Levi Johnston paying the consequences of his actions? Anyway, that fringe needs to go. That has been my point all along.

  373. Tina says:

Gee, re reading Benny’s post, I think somebody impersonated him. His english is not that great…

  374. D QUIXOTE says:

I don’t call them mentally ill like MD keeps on doing. I just say they are wrong ????

Same for the salad tossers, they are wrong.

  375. Chekote says:

If he does, Meek will win. I really don’t see why Rubio go in the race when Crist was a sure thing to keep the seat GOP.

  376. Tina says:

The plants are impersonating other posters.

  377. D QUIXOTE says:

You do have a problem with gays.

    Comment by Chekote —

    Nope,just their agenda.

  378. MD says:

  382. MD says:

    Tim,

If he does that, then the Dem would win. However, he would be finished in politics forever.

He could rehab himself for 12 against Nelson. Yes, I agree that they have certainly thought of that. A bad move, IMO. No chance at winning and a career killer to boot.

  383. D QUIXOTE says:

??????? is caught on a Mobius Strip of never ending repetitious banalities.

  384. MD says:

    Vic,

That is all ? does. She does not have the capability to have a decent conversation because she is, again, unbalanced. I am very serious about that and very sad to say that. However, it is very, very clear. This does NOT help her by the way.

I have a whole profile on her, and while we will never get proof, I think I would be 90 to 95% accurate.

    It is sad.

  385. Chekote says:

    MD

You have been trying to marginalize me for months. You tried the 2.111. You tried taking people to RP, then to BJG. You set up your own blog and declared HHR RIP. It hasn’t worked and will not work. Why? Because people here are adults. They will ignore me if they want to. They will respond if they want to. You think of yourself as some kind of leader here. You are not. You just another poster like the rest of us.

  386. Bunu says:

    Chekote #373

I don’t think anyone is “rejoicing” over Rubio. There is no reason to know if he’s better than Mel Martinez on the immigration issue.

It’s better to have a close race so they have to flesh out their positions more.

The immigration issue is next on the docket so having a close race between Crist and Rubio is a good thing. I wouldn’t mind a third candidate to suck votes also so they have to compete more although that doesn’t seem like it’s going to happen at this point.

  387. Victrc says:

    Chekote

since rubio is better positioned to keep the seat then it would be Crist who was screwing the party not Rubio. If rubio is the nominee it’s because that’s who yhe people wanted, if anyone is selfish here it’s crist, why wouldn’t he step aside?

There is fringe in every movement. Doesn’t matter right, left. You’re dreaming if you think you’re going to get rid of them. There are plenty who would consider you the fringe on the left side of the GOP. You’re thinking is certainly out of line with mainstream GOP thinking.

As or Levi (I still can’t understand your obsession with introducing anything you can abou palin into the discussion) since neither you nor I know the details of the agreement between Levi and Palins daughter it’s hard to say, but if he is making money and not payin child support and she decides to go after him he will pay yhe price. Either he will pay what he owes or go to jail. That’s paying the consequences. Btw kudos to Palins daughter for being responsible for her actions.

  388. MD says:

So guys, did Pelosi really say HC is done this year? The link at Drudge brought me to a Politico article and I did not find that comment.

  389. Chekote says:

    MD

Vic is an adult. You will make up his own mind as to whether he wants to engage with me or not. If I were you, I would worry about your own mental stability. You have threaten to leave many times and you are still here pretending to be a leader. You have threaten to ignore me for months and yet you do nothing but post about me. Do you want to know what ignoring looks like? See rdelbov.

  390. MD says:

(I still can’t understand your obsession with introducing anything you can abou palin into the discussion)

Vic – she is sick. Seriously, it is not a joke.

  391. MD says:

    Unstable

  392. KnightHawk says:

MD are you being accused of marginalizing the queen plant again?
Seems she does not understand that she takes care of doing that quite on her own. Doctor, what would you prescribe to assist with this condition? A cyanide capsule perhaps?

  393. MD says:

The fun part of this is that since I don’t read ?’s post but see her taglines, I know it is driving ? up a wall.

OK – I’ll stop for a while. Long day at work. Same firm for 14 years. Wonder if ? can make it 14 months….OK, I’ll stop!

  394. MD says:

    Knight,

LOL! The truth hurts an awful lot. I could guess what she is saying and so what? She is nuts.

  395. Chekote says:

since rubio is better positioned to keep the seat

Based on what? A couple of polls. This is my concern about Rubio. He has never won a state wide race. Crist has. Twice. He even won in 2006 when it was a bad year for the GOP. The problem with Rubio is that the Left will have an easy time demonizing him. They can’t do that with Crist. We need SEATS.

I still don’t see how having an abortion is failing to “pay the consequences” for ones action. Poor people will not pay any consequences for having children. The rest of society will thanks to the welfare state we have. Drug addicts having kids will not pay consequences for having a child. The child will. So your argument against abortion based on “paying consequences” is baseless. You can say you oppose abortion on moral/religious grounds. But “paying consequence” just doesn’t fly?

  396. KnightHawk says:

398 – Yes she (mrs. piggy) did in effect, don’t think she said the word “dead” though.

  397. MD says:

OK – I am going to decorate the tree with my kids in a couple of minutes.

Vic, et al….it is a waste of time but, hey, it is your fingers and wrists at risk of carpel Tunnel, not mine.

    BTW Vic,

Your posts have been great lately. You are clearly the Latino subject matter expert around here.

  398. Chekote says:

    KH

Don’t let the MD disease take a hold of you. I hate to see that happen to you. My point is that MD’s campaign against me has been going on for months. It is not working. It will never work because people can make up their own mind about whether to talk to me or not.

  399. Tina says:

Its so funny, that one of the plants impersonated Benny’s handle.

  400. Chekote says:

    MD

I will give you a tutorial on how to ignore people. From now on I will ignore you.

  401. MD says:

    Tina,

That wasn’t ? question was it? That is NOT a symptom of her various ailments. She years to be recogized.

  402. Tina says:

    ROFL!!!!!!!!!!!

  403. Chekote says:

    #411

    I haven’t.

  404. MD says:

    Tina,

I think ? may be in the middle of a meltdown but I can’t be sure. Can you help her through the difficult days ahead.

  405. Tina says:

ROFL laughing to the “campaign” comment.

  406. MD says:

    What campaign comment?

  407. Tina says:

    MD,

    I am still laughing….

  408. MD says:

    Tina,

Do you think actual droll (SP?) is hitting the keyboard as we type?

  409. Tina says:

“that you are part of a campaign to destroy ?”

It sounds like something Hillary would have said.

  410. MD says:

    Tina,

Doesn’t ? do a good enough job on her own? ? doesn’t need my help, that’s for sure.

  411. Tina says:

    MD, I pretty much ignore…

After being called a gay hater, etc. There is no hope….

  412. Chekote says:

You’re thinking is certainly out of line with mainstream GOP thinking.

    How?

  413. Tina says:

Looks like a comment got deleted????

  414. MD says:

    I can see it now:

Furiously typing at the keyboard, face flused a crimson red, teeth grinding away, slamming her fingers onto the helpless letters all the while screaming, MD sucks or whatever.

  415. Tina says:

The problem MD is that the plants are sabotaging handles its obvious, just go back to Benny’s posts and you will see the clues. Remember, Benny does not write that well – its not meant as an insult.

  416. KnightHawk says:

Chekote, do yourself a favor and don’t talk to me. I do not like you, I rarely agree with you, I think you are here to only disrupt, and despite an occasional remark on my part have no interest in your opinions, musings and related drama.

  417. MD says:

I ignore as well but will comment when ? is on the board. I can’t respond directly since I don’t really know what ? is saying (but I can guess and be pretty certain that I am right). I know it drives ? nuts, nuts, nuts.

  418. Tina says:

    So many plants….

  419. Tina says:

The laugher MD is that ? got caught saying that ? was undecided about the health care bill….

    Uh huh.

  420. MD says:

    Knight,

So Piggy really didn’t say that the House critters will be going home for Santa?

  421. Tina says:

    Palin sucks

There is a campaign against me.

    How ZZZZZZZZ

  422. MD says:

    Tina,

Your not serious? Man, ? will do anything to incite an argument. I guess if HC passes, it will be Palin’s fault.

  423. Tina says:

I think they are going home, not sure for the Senate though. Piglosi has to get some presents with her security team at stores on Maiden Lane in SF.

  424. MD says:

    Tina,

    Can I add one:

    I am a victim.

  425. KnightHawk says:

MD – Demint had said on Hannity that it “we hear she’s sending them home this evening.”

  426. Chekote says:

Tina, Tina, Tina you have a bad habit of throwing rocks and then hiding you hand. You made a comment about Crist in the “closet”. You made another comment referencing the gay mafia. I’ll let your own words speak for themselves.

  427. Diamond Jim says:

    Nice. From NRO:

Violation of Senate Rules this Afternoon [Veronique de Rugy]

Today Sen. Tom Coburn forced the reading of Sen. Bernie Sanders’s entire 767-page amendment to provide single-payer health care. This process would have taken some twelve hours at least. The Senate rule is that once the clerk starts reading the bill, no senator can stop the reading of that bill unless every senator agrees.

Somehow, though, the chair allowed Bernie Sanders to interrupt the reading and withdraw his amendment, which, under the rules, he should not have been allowed to do without unanimous consent. The reason the parliamentarian allowed the interruption was that he was relying on a similar incident in 1982 when the chair wrongly allowed an amendment to be withdrawn. Yet, as we know, two wrongs have never made a right.

This is a huge boon to Democrats who did not relish spending an entire day (or possibly two) reading the Sanders amendment to the American people.

The real story here, this miscarriage of justice in the Senate may just end up helping the Democrats squeeze passage of the health-care-reform bill before Christmas.

  428. MD says:

    Tina,

Doesn’t Piggy have people to shop for her?

How many face lifts do you think Piggy has gotten? I say 2.

  429. MFG says:

    Jan

    You’re making an important point

Defeatism and negativity feed upon each other and create failure

This isn’t a call to lie to yourself, but shrieking “We’re going to lose!” 24/7 is very unhealthy psychologically and actually helps to create the defeat that is feared

  430. Tina says:

    Forgot the victim.

The more ? posts it sounds like Hillary Clinton posts here.

    Victim

    Campaing to Destroy…

  431. Tina says:

    Md, that is another thing,

Piglosi needs a lift to look beautiful for Christmas.

  432. MD says:

    DJ,

Maybe. At this point, it seems as though anything is possible. At least we have prevented the libs from flying to Copenhagen and grandstanding on the BS issue of global warming.

  433. Chekote says:

    #440

    Coburn said that on Hannity.

  434. rdelbov says:

Somehow Pelosi twisted enough fingers and thumbs to win two crucial votes today in the house by 218-214 plus 217-212.

So the defense bill and stimulus II plus the increasing of the debt ceiling advance.

As a bad sign of things to come Baird-Gordon -Tanner–Blue dogs all-voted to raise the debt ceiling in the 218-214 votes. They provided shlter for their friends to vote no.

Ditto on stimulus II that passed 217-212 Baird-Gordon-Tanner voted Yes. These Blue dogs are spending fools now that they are retiring.

  435. MD says:

    Tina,

    Sadly, the facelifts aren’t working.

  436. Chekote says:

    MFG

I think this bill is going to implode. What do you think?

  437. KnightHawk says:

    440 – Thanks D.Jim!
Tina you were right again, looks like it was in fact a rule violation to let him withdraw it during the reading.

  438. MD says:

    Hi Rdel,

I honestly believe that the Dems will have no cover come fall.

    None.

  439. MD says:

    Tina, Rdel, Knight:

Time to decorate the tree. Have a great night.

  440. Chekote says:

    From KOS:

Given that the current bill only has 32 percent support, I don’t think this turd of a bill in the Senate has much support of anyone, much less party activists. And the voter intensity numbers are clear — base Democratic voters are planning to sit out 2010. And I doubt 18-29 year olds — a key part of the Democratic base — are going to be thrilled with a mandate. In fact, it may be the single least popular item in the bill.

Ding, ding, ding. Dick Morris said that a poll showed a 30% swing against the Dem among this demo when they were told about the mandate.

  441. Tina says:

KH, I was listening to DEmint on the radio too. That is where I got it. Colonel Sanders could not withdraw the amendment after the bill was being read, its a violation of the Senate Rules.

The Rs should push any and all limits…

  442. Tina says:

    In other words, scorch earth….

  443. Chekote says:

Chekote, do yourself a favor and don’t talk to me.

Fine with me. I am not here to disrupt like Eph was doing for months with his LifeNews postings. I here to post my opinions. The last thing the GOP needs is an echo chamber so that nonsense like what Tina puts out passes for intelligent commentary.

  444. Brandon says:

It would be nice if we had a new thread.

  445. MFG says:

    Bill is dead, Chekote

The only question is how much damage the Communists do to themselves before giving it up

  446. rdelbov says:

The rules were apparently were violated when the reading stopped.

Either way that one motion was enough to bring HC debate to a stop. The senate must now bring to a vote the bills passed by the house to fund the defense department, raise national debt and stimulus II.

I look fireworks on these measures.

I think we may hear talk that Reid will file a motion to proceed back to HC on saturday and an eye on cloture votes next week. Guys its cut bait or fish come this weekend on HC.

  447. Chekote says:

    #459

I think they have done a lot of damage to themselves in the process. The GOP did a great job forcing them into votes they will have a hard time defending. Reimportation of drug has been a Dem talking point for how many years? Yet many voted against the Dorgan amendment. They have done a lot of damage to themselves.

  448. MFG says:

They don’t have 60 why would they call for a vote on cloture?

  449. Chekote says:

Reid has exceeded my expectations as far as his incompetence.

  450. MFG says:

Losing a cloture vote is surely the end of this, right?

Why would such a vote be called without having 60 in hand…???

  451. Wes says:

Ninety-five percent of Detroiters are Dems, Chek. Too bad they’re collectively too stupid to realize they’ve been voting themselves otu of jobs all these 70+ years.

  452. KnightHawk says:

Tina I had thought you mentioned that prior to there appearance on the show, and must have missed it being spoken about. (was on a call during parts of the interview).

  453. MFG says:

Reid, Pelosi, Obama and especially Emmanuel I would rank as some of the worst political leaders in the history of the country

It would have been the easiest thing in the world to structure a HC bill that would have gotten 65-70 votes

But they had to Al Capone this to the very end…

  454. KnightHawk says:

“Fine with me.” is all that was required, the rest is gibberish – moving along now.

  455. Tina says:

It was all on the radio show, KH, but I only caught his first remark posted it and left.

I will watch BOR even though its one hour about nothing.

  456. Victrc says:

    Chekote

you sit out of the mainstream on many issues. The GOP is strongly against abortion, strongly against gay marraige, strongly against amnesty, strongly against increased taxes, strongly fiscally conservative, anti-drug, against unnecessary social programs, generally church going and God fearing.

I can keep going but as you can see you go against the tide on many of those issues. You generally rail against good conservative candidates, favoring those who are far left of mainstream GOP thinking. You have a hard time reconciling the fact that the GOP mainstream is a fissocsec conservative.

I think you’re concept of conservative values is shaped too much by your European upbringig and I don’t mean that to be a put down. It’s just that a conservative in Europe would still be in the far left of the democratic party (sans nationalist groups).

  457. KnightHawk says:

“It would be nice if we had a new thread.”

Come on Dave New thread please with the RAS FL senate numbers.

  458. Wes says:

    How go things, Knight?

  459. Wes says:

To be fair to Chek, Vic, abortion and the religious issue seem to be the only two things you pointed out where Chekote is out of the GOP mainstream.

  460. Brandon says:

#473. Ask and thee shall receive.

    New thread above.

  461. KnightHawk says:

    Better then I deserve Wes.

  462. KnightHawk says:

    thanks Brandon!!!

  463. Tina says:

I guess we will see if WWIII breaks out in the senate on Thursday.

There are three measures under consideration.

    1. defense bill-lots of junk in the bill to fund the pentagon. I think the GOP will let this bill come to a vote. I am not sure the GOP could stop it from coming to a vote. They might could have the whole bill read??? It will probably pass

    2. The debt ceiling bill. Its a temp bill with a 300 billion dollar increase in the ceiling. That’s for a whopping three or four months. Mercy. The GOP will fillbuster this-might work-they will insist on amendments to this bill. There should be several votes on this measure and frankly I am not sure what will happen. The Treasury department could probably juggle some accounts to postpone the bumping up of the debt ceiling for several months.

    3. Finally there is the stimulus II package with a huge wad of extra ons. Here is the democratic idea of stimulus. You extend cobra payments for the unemployed. You increase unemployment benefits by 8%. How exactly does that create a job?? How tax credits for mean businesses?? Oh the evil employers get a lump of coal for Christmas. This bill does include some more of those shovel ready public works jobs. These projects are slated to actually start creating jobs by the 2012 elections. I think this bill is dead in the senate. Snowe-Collins are the only likely GOP votes but a bunch of moderate democrats swear that they will vote for the bill as is.

better then you deserve?? Are you a Dave Ramsey guy??

  467. KnightHawk says:

Not really per-say but I’ve heard his show, it just worked as a response this evening given the country has exceeded it lawful debt load Ramsey was on my mind.

Chek,if rubio wins the nomination he will coast to victory. Pick the most conservative nominee who can win. Crist is our back up plan. We will keep the seat w him but we can be more properly repped w rubio who is an appealing non white guy.

As for durbin here in ill, he used to be a downstate moderate. But do some math. If he supports health care, it fails, and the gops win say 8 seats, guess who wears the crown?
