PA: Corbett Holds Double-Digit Leads Over Democrats
New numbers from Quinnipiac University show Republican Tom Corbett has a double-digit lead over two potential Democratic opponents next year to see who will replace Democratic Governor Ed Rendell in Pennsylvania.

My first time being first

Corbett has catching heat from politicians in both parties for indicting legislators & next legislators for corrupt practices.
It seems that the voters do not mind making pols face the music.
3-
Palin fights corruption in both parties. That is why she is such a good leader, and and good candidate.
Well, I’m off. Enjoy the 130 rants that are forthcoming.
The senate, today, faces several huge bills. The McConnell year long stall has the happy or unhappy effect of pushing the defense spending bill up to its 12-18-2009 deadline. In addition there is stimulus II which actually looks a like stimulus I except its 174 billion and not 8787 billion. Plus an increase to the debt ceiling that is required because of Stimulus I.
Does any of this make any sense? Thoughtful legislating? Two days to look over massive bills.
On the HC front-no CBO scores, no legislative language, no agreement on abortion, no formal dropping of public option/medicare buyin from Reid and no scheduled votes on anything.
Corbett is very popular and his support appears to be very broad. Rohr has to gain momentum fast. I really don’t see Gerlach as a player.
Wagner, in another cycle, could have been a winner. However, in the sea of red, he would lost by the same % as this poll states, maybe a little less.
It is Corbett’s to lose. The Dems would love for him to resign his AG post so they could have their AG go after him on trumped up charges. A smart move on his part to not step down.
This is the weakest that I have seen the Dem party in PA in ages. One brand name is already elected, Casey and the other, Rendell got screwed by the Obama admin.

I wish we had Steelman rather than Blunt.
It does not look like either candidate in MO exactly inspires the base of their parties.
If the tide continues to sway red, then Blunt will win. It is a big advantage for a Republican in a close race to run in a non-POTUS election year with a fist-term Dem POTUS in office.
That may be enough to pull him through.

Poll shows Obama’s popularity holding steady at 56 percent
…..
Notice it doesn’t say JOB APPROVAL.
Yeah, Mo is a problem. It’s always been an even steven state – St Louis, Kansas City, Boone County vs the rest of the rural state. This will hinge in whether or not Blunt makes some headway in the St Louis suburbs. That will be where this one is decided. I might add that Talent barely scraped by in 2002 in a very Republican year. Our toughest defense of a state. Can be done however.
Phil,
02 was an anomoly and, frankly, he was a little lucky. However, 10 is going to be an anti-Dem year. I think Blunt will win but he is never going to have a very comfortable margin.
Phil,
What part of Texas do you live in?
New jobless claims rise unexpectedly
New jobless claims unexpectedly rise to 480,000, signaling labor market weakness
I guess the Obama jobs bull market is a little premature.
If the Dems were going to beat Corbett in any statewide race, 2008 would have been the year to do it. They tried, and they failed. Their noise about his “partisan investigations” has been silenced now that some crooks on the GOP side have been indicted as well.
For the first time in eight years, we will finally have a Pennsylvania governor that cares about more than just Philadelphia. The stench of Rendell, Obama and Pelosi will make an already tough race against Corbett virtually impossible for whoever the Dems decide to nominate.
