  1. Jason T says:

Now Gerhaghty at NRO Campaign spot is glooming.

She is down only 45 to 43 and the so called Right Wing experts are freaking. wimps

  2. Big Joe says:

    2 RAS is trash? LOL

  3. Waingro says:

We really could use some good polling news pronto to help with confidence levels on some of these key races. I still say we won’t have any real idea where things stand until after Labor Day.

  4. Jason T says:

Waingro. i like RAS but he wimped out on the MASS race with Scott Brown.

Do you remember the gloom here when polls in Sept and October tilted towards Corzine. Many thought Christie blew it.

  5. Jason T says:

The polling today could be a blessing in disguise, that wakes the Right up.

  6. Waingro says:

#4, good point Jason. Overall, I still feel very good about things. LONG way to go.

  7. Daniel G. says:

    Jason T,

    Just a Question:

Don’t you think Angle has also to win over some Moderates to win in the end?

  8. Ryan says:

Hopefully this is a wake-up call. We are not going to run away with some of the critical races. The national environment is highly favorable, but D’s can still win in this environment

  9. rdelbov says:

Here’s my take on NV–how about a Las Vegas analogy and my gambling friends I need some help.

In Dice -some of the bettors place a bet on what they think the roller will roll. That’s my bet and I think Angle will win.

    1. 2010 will be all about passion–Angle will have the support of the ground of the GOP organization plus huge Teaparty support. The passion and people will be huge for Angle–that’s hard to poll-especially in July.

    2. I would rather try to redefine Angle then redefine Reid–

    3. economy and mood for democrats will get worse not better-real plus for Angle

    4. Sandoval will be a huge plus for Angle

So as I place my bet I think the odds for future moves are on Angle’s side.

  10. addisonst says:

I’m still not worried. I don’t believe the lack of Reid intensity is in the poll. Plus, she hasn’t buried Reid on immigration yet.

then there’s Sandoval. He brings out voters.

  11. Jason T says:

Daniel yes in an normal year, but the economy will destroy Reid in the end. She is doing fine and will win. sandoval will drag her over the line

  12. Jason T says:

    I just donated $30 at:

    http://www.sharronangle.com

  13. Wes says:

I’m still amazed at New York. The Bimbette can’t seem to get any traction against an army of former circus clowns. Naturally all the strongest Republicans took a pass on the race. Ay Dios Mio.

  14. Jason T says:

RAS, who by the way took a pass on the MASS Special election, says 58% say Angle is too extreme.

The Angle has to see that, and will get her down to 40% in that sense.

  15. George says:

That Kirk, Alexi poll makes me wonder. Rasmussen doesn’t give the repbulican democrat, independent numbers other than to say Kirk has a 20 point lead among voters not affiliated with either party. If that’s the case, then he must be lagging among Republican voters if he’s a bit behind Alexi.

I’ve heard a lot of bad mouthing of Kirk coming from Tea Party type Republicans. But in the end I’m betting they will bite the bullet and vote for him over Alexi.

We also haven’t seen the parade of pictures of Alexi and Blago together, etc. It’ll be up the Kirk campaign and the GOP to get them out there. I think there is a tacit media understanding to squelch as many negative stories on Alexi as possible.

Brady needs to start hammering Quinn. He’s our best hope to pull a lot of other candidates over the line in November. He’ll run very strong throughout the Downstate area, but he needs to make headway in Chiago and the suburbs.

    Just saying.

  16. Wes says:

Did the other Republican in the NY senate primary drop out? There used to be three Barnum and Bailey’s rejects instead of just two.

  17. Waingro says:

#13, I’m still ticked off at Pataki Wes. What a golden opportunity that would have been.

  18. Wes says:

    I agree, Wain.

  19. Jason T says:

Wes, I think Angle’s advisers are split on how to go forward. Some want her to go negative, the others want her to define herself as a Grandma.

I think they will figure it out and stick to a plan and go to war.

The one thing that tells me Reid will lose in the end, is that awful NV unemployment Rate

  20. Jason T says:

George well said. The Chicago tribune has been bashing Kirk. We will say how those Marxists endorse.

  21. Wes says:

Here’s my assessment of the Nevada Senate race from the previous thread, Jason:

Having eviscerated Angle as an extremist and essentially had the airwaves uncontested with Angle making statements widely perceived as gaffes, Reid has gotten all the way to 45%. That’s John Corzine territory. We all know how well Corzine ultimately performed after adopting the exact same strategy Reid is employing now.

  22. Wes says:

I think Angle needs to do both, Jason: define herself positively AND be aggressive in extolling Reid’s flaws. It can be done.

  23. Jason T says:

I just took NRO online off my bookmarks. They are gloomers and beltway hacks

  24. Jason T says:

    22. Wes good to hear that from you. This race is so similar to New Jersey that it is scary. and in Angle’s favor, NV is a purple, not blue state

  25. Planned Parenthood says:

    RON PAUL IS JEWISH !!!!

  26. Wes says:

Hey, Sharon, I’m willing to unretire from political consulting and run your campaign so you can win for a lot less than whoever is advising you now.

  27. rdelbov says:

    George

    spot on

    I agree 100%

  28. Tommy_Boy says:

    George,

Kirk is winning republicans 82-5 and conservatives by a 74-9 margin.

Alexi is winning democrats by a 75-11 margin and moderates by a 47-35 margin.

  29. Planned Parenthood says:

Breaking news: Ron Paul to visit Israel in support of her statehood

  30. Waingro says:

  31. Wes says:

    How go things, Eph?

  32. Waingro says:

    Ah, Eph.

  33. Planned Parenthood says:

    33. Eph?

  34. Wes says:

Yes, Eph Rove. We all know it’s you.

  35. Jason T says:

Tommy, and Kirk is winning non affiliated by 20%. Is Ras polling to many Chicago dems?

  36. Wes says:

You’re the only pro-life Jew who’s ever existed. It’s impossible for us not to recognize your signature sarcasm when you post.

  37. Planned Parenthood says:

“38.You’re the only pro-life Jew who’s ever existed.”

    heh!

  38. Chekote says:

Why is EPH back here? I thought he found heaven at BJG.

  39. Planned Parenthood says:

“38.You’re the only pro-life Jew who’s ever existed.”

    What about Ron Paul ????????

  40. Planned Parenthood says:

    Where’s Eph ??????????

  41. geauxlsu says:

I am actually encouraged by the NV poll. I am still disappointed in the nominee there, but this gives me some hope that she can keep it close enough to maybe squeeze out a win.

  42. Tommy_Boy says:

I hate to be the harbinger of bad news but the undecideds look even worse for Angle in the Rasmussen poll. There are more undecided moderates and liberals than conservatives.

Angle really needs to kick this guy’s ass in the debates. I have confidence she can do so on the merits but I can already see the media calling what she says extreme regardless of what she actually says. The media is winning right now against Angle. She needs to figure out a way to convince people she’s not extreme despite the media.

  43. Wes says:

Well, physically I’m guessing you’re in Arizona, Eph. On this thread, you’re in 31, 35, 39, and 42 though.

  44. Planned Parenthood says:

    Hi Chek!

  45. MFG says:

Reid still can’t get to 50% and the macro environment dooms him

I’d call him “14% Unemployment Harry” every time I referred to him if I were Angle

  46. Wes says:

On a politically unrelated note, what idiot came up with the idea of not making an e-reader wifi- or 3G-capable? I like this Aluratek Libre, but having to sync it to my computer to download books is just stupid.

  47. Wes says:

Say hi to Eph Rove, MFG.

  48. Yolanda says:

Let’s not get too upset over NV just yet. I’d be concerned if Angle were facing a disciplined opponent, but Harry Reid is a gaffe machine to rival Plugs Biden.

Just give it some time–Harry’ll surprise us yet again.

  49. Tony says:

Wes, Brownie points for giving to Angle. Personally, I’m gonna wait and see if she’s ever said anything nice about McCain and if she has, I’m gonna donate to Reid.

  50. Wes says:

Don’t leave yet, Yolanda. I had a question from a couple of threads ago I wnated to get your thoughts on.

  51. Tommy_Boy says:

    How stupid are moderates?

54% of moderates consider Reid mainstream, 56% of them have a favorable opinion of Reid and like the job Obama is doing.

If that many moonbats comprise what are considered moderates in this country, then Angle really only has a chance with 40% of the moderate vote.

She may want to focus on a strategy that gets her to 85% of the conservative vote.

  52. jenny says:

the gop should focus on winning the house! the gop can’t win the senate. the nra will endorse reid in october & he’ll win! the nra fear chuck schumer!

  53. Yolanda says:

    #52–Shoot, Wes.

  54. LaZebra says:

Personally, I’m gonna wait and see if she’s ever said anything nice about McCain and if she has, I’m gonna donate to Reid.
    Comment by Tony — July 28, 2010 @ 1:00 pm

Tony’s not kidding here. I think this says it all about him.

  55. Wes says:

226.As a matter of fact, I have, LZ. Here’s my list of top-level female Republicans seeking statewide office this year:

    Governor-

    Whitman (CA)
    Brewer (AZ)
    Martinez (NM)
    Fallin (OK)
    Meyer (WY)
    Haley (SC)
    Handel (GA)

    Senate-

    Murkowski (AK)
    Fiorina (CA)
    Norton (CO)
    Ayotte (NH)
    McMahon (CT)
    Angle (NV)

    At Large House-

    Noem (SD)
    Rollins (DE)

Just out of curiosity, Yolanda, what do you think of the gOP’s putting forth so many women with solid chances to win this year?

  56. Yolanda says:

If it’s about Burr-Marshall, though, I’m willing to admit that I’m (at least temporarily) still eating crow.

  57. Phil says:

Relax folks. It’s July. Plenty of time to get this campaign headed in the right direction. Reid is incredibly weak and he’s thrown everything he has at Angle. Our side hasn’t hit back yet. Focus on things after Labor Day.

  58. Wes says:

    Posted in #57, Yolanda.

  59. Sir Alberto McDougalito says:

The only poll that matters, per Phil, is the Rasmussen generic peeps. Plus 10.

  60. LaZebra says:

56– I know Tony’s not kidding because that’s exactly the way my McCain-hating brother is. When Sarah Palin went to campaign for McCain, my brother turned on Palin.

  61. American Thinker Fan says:

    “How stupid are moderates?”

Good question. Stupid stupid stupid idiots! They shouldn’t be allowed to vote.

  62. Yolanda says:

    #57–

Perhaps it’s a Palin effect? Also, although few will say it, I think Bachmann being so high profile helps.

The msm line will surely be that white women are scared that a black man (read, a sexual predator) is president, and they have mobilized against him for purely racist reasons. Remember the “Celebrity” ad?

  63. Wes says:

    Good advice, Pil.

  64. Yolanda says:

I’m still trying to fathom how so many people in 2008 said Obama was moderate…

  65. LaZebra says:

57– Sorry I didn’t respond to this, Wes, but yes, I saw it (twice). It’s an impressive list and certainly cancels out the strategy of portraying the GOP as sexist.

  66. Wes says:

    Err, Phil.

  67. American Thinker Fan says:

Yolanda, people are idiots. And I say that in the kindest possible term.

  68. Jason T says:

    Spot on Phil.

  69. Wes says:

I knew you’d have an interesting take, Yolanda. I didn’t quite see that as the repsonse, but I knew you’d have something interesting to say.

I like the way Sharron Angle spells her name, Jason. It’s quirky.

  74. bio mom says:

Jim Geheraty (sp?) at NRO has always been poor at analyzing polls. Not analytical enough and, yes, prone to the beltway read on things. I usually come here for my good poll analysis although people do get a little hysterical sometimes.

The worry in Nevada is that third choice they allow. None of the above or something like that. So goofball Reed could win with 34% that way. Anyway, I think Angle will win. Her adds should start now however.

  75. Tony says:

    Heh Laz

Iirc correctly, I was praising Angle while some on this board was trashing her.

  76. lisab says:

  78. LaZebra says:

  79. rdelbov says:

I give you a million instances where candidates 3% ahead in July ending up losing and in some cases losing big.

No time to panic in NV–Reid is looking Corzine like at this point.

Jenny, what color is the sky in your world?

This is the best electoral climate for gops in Illinois in years.

  81. Tony says:

    56

Good memory there. I thought it was a bad political move on Palin’ part to get involved in that race.

  82. LaZebra says:

86– We agree on that, Tony. Palin’s endorsement (and campaign appearances) was the turning point in that race. Had she lost her mind and endorsed Hayworth, it might have been a very different race. I agree on that.

  83. Yolanda says:

#71–Answer is, frankly I don’t know. It would be interesting to see some data on this, though. Is there really and truly an increase in the number of GOP women running? Or is it that we are just noticing them more this year, either because of Palin or because GOP candidates, generally, are more viable than they’ve been in past years?

The other thing I’d like to see data on is incumbent success. There is supposedly such an anti-incumbent wave this year. Is that really the case? Or is it just an anti-Democrat wave? If it were truly an anti-incumbent wave, then we should expect to see a significant increase in the number of incumbents ousted in primaries. So far, I think there were 3 in the House, 2 in the Senate, and 1 governor. Is that abnormally high for this point in the primary season? Two of those six defeats were of party switchers, and one was of a guy who was a walking scandal sheet.

  84. Sir Alberto McDougalito says:

Rdel-did you see my question earlier today about diff in the states re R registrations VS Dems? Nationally-how much do they out register us? Thanks

Judge Blocks Parts Of Arizo Law AMANDA MYERS, Associated Press Writers PHOENIX (AP) ?A federal judge on Wednesday blocked the most controversial parts of Arizona’s immigration law from taking effect, delivering a last-minute victory to opponents of the crackdown. The overall law will still take effect Thursday, but without the provisions that angered opponents —including sections that required officers to check a person’s immigration status while enforcing other laws. The judge also put on hold parts of the law that required immigrants to carry their papers at all times, and made it illegal for undocumented workers to solicit employment in public places.

  89. Tony says:

Yep pretty strange, Laz. She’s so much closer to JD ideologically than she is with McCain, so it just didn’t make sense to me. Could be she was picking the probable GE winner there.

Back to disagreeing. McCain is an 82% conservative, while JD is a wacko radical nutcake. Palin is much, much closer to being an 82% conservative than a wacko radical nutcake.

  104. Chekote says:

  105. lisab says:

“Back to disagreeing. McCain is an 82% conservative”

that 82% number is so misleading as to be intentionally disingenuous.

maybe mccain voted with republicans on things like “national pork week” but he was continuously the senator who gave the dems cover during the bush years

mostly because he hated bush and liked the good press

but the 82% is completely misleading. i could probably vote 82% with the republicans without seriously compromising my principles.

Jefferson on the Marbury v. Madison decision and judicial despotism.

“In denying the right [the Supreme Court usurps] of exclusively explaining the Constitution, I go further than [others] do, if I understand rightly [this] quotation from the Federalist of an opinion that ‘the judiciary is the last resort in relation to the other departments of the government, but not in relation to the rights of the parties to the compact under which the judiciary is derived.’ If this opinion be sound, then indeed is our Constitution a complete felo de se [act of suicide]. For intending to establish three departments, coordinate and independent, that they might check and balance one another, it has given, according to this opinion, to one of them alone the right to prescribe rules for the government of the others, and to that one, too, which is unelected by and independent of the nation. For experience has already shown that the impeachment it has provided is not even a scare-crow… The Constitution on this hypothesis is a mere thing of wax in the hands of the judiciary, which they may twist and shape into any form they please.” –Thomas Jefferson to Spencer Roane, 1819. 113. MFG says:

And what if Scalia dies next month?

  114. That's Right says:

There’s nothing wrong with the AZ law. It’s simply politics. California has had a similar law on the books for years.

  117. rdelbov says:

    Sir AM

that’s a great question and I am sorry I missed it. Here’s a quick list of states that register by Party

    ME-NH-MA-RI-CT-NY-NJ-DE-WV-MD-NC-FL-OK-KY-SD-KS-PA-CO-NM-AZ-NV-CA-OR-AK

Now that’s a quick list–some states like NJ-MA-AK-CT(?) do not have closed primaries so party registration is pretty pointless.

Nationally Party ID is 31D-32R-33I but states with party registration lean to the democratic side. CA/PA/NY have more registrated democrats so does GOP states like KY-LA-FL-NC-OK –I think the only states with a GOP edge in registration is SD-NH-KS-AK-maybe CO.

Yes OK-LA-KY have more registrated democrats. Its a long story–it started with the guns firing on Fort Sumter and took a Uturn in reconstruction with a little FDR thrown in.

I was done and dirty on Party ID states–may have missed one or two

  118. Tony says:

So McCain has an 82 ACU rating? Tell me, if Palin was in the House or Senate, What would her ACU rating be? And What is Hayworth’s rating? Which one would she be closer to, politically?

  119. Tina says:

RE: CA – Law – in many instances, its even tougher than the AZ Law.

However, nobody enforces it here – b/c of the POS Governator.

  120. Phil says:

If Scalia dies next month we’re screwed anyway on every level. Obama will rule by executive decree and there won’t be a damned thing any of us can do about it. It’s welcome to Venezuella time.

  121. Chekote says:

far less than illegals cost tax payers

Wrong again blondie. The lawsuit will cost taxpayers in addition what they are already spending.

    Phil,

I am sure that Kagen and Sotohatewhiteymore will “save” us.

  123. Brutus says:

I would also like to see an agressive justice department find the “wikileaker” and if one death can be attributed to these documents being released, that person or persons locked away for life. Preferably at a maximum security military prision.

Of course, aggressive DOJ is impossible with this administration unless they are holding the borders open.

Also, as for the protesters of the AZ law. Wearing an American flag on your head as a doo rag is just as disrespectful as waving the United Drug States of Mexico flag.

  124. LaZebra says:

112– Lisab, Go to the ACU’s website and learn how they pick the issues that they base their ACU rating on. They don’t pick scurilous issues. Face it, McCain votes with us about 82% of the time, over his career (and 96% of the time since Obama became president). The only argument against this is to hold you hands over your ears, sing, and refuse to believe it.

  125. Tina says:

Did anybody figure out who appt the Federal judge?

  126. Waingro says:

“”There is a substantial likelihood that officers will wrongfully arrest legal resident aliens under the new (law),” Bolton ruled. “By enforcing this statute, Arizona would impose a ‘distinct, unusual and extraordinary’ burden on legal resident aliens that only the federal government has the authority to impose.”

Good LORD that’s a dreadful holding! And if she was just passing the buck so to speak to the courts, she didn’t have to make this type of holding and/or statement in her order.

This is an absurd decision. Plain and simple by a liberal activist judge. And the problem is this first will have to go through the 9th Circus, who will carve this thing even further up like a turkey. It will be all up to SCOTUS.

  127. Phil says:

    Clinton

  128. Tina says:

But remember, the R establishment types, want to get alone for the sake of bi partisanship. So, lets not rock the boat on Illegals. They are just victims being taken advantage by corporations.

  129. Tina says:

    Thanks,

    Phil

I would have guessed Clintune, Carter, or possibly Ford.

  130. addisonst says:

Mfg, you sound like a militant whacko. Succession? Really? Is that a position that enhances the conservative movement.

  131. Waingro says:

    #132, she’s a Clintonista, Tina.

  132. Tina says:

The 9th Circus Court will indeed butcher it even more…

  133. IJUSTHATETHATFREAKIN'MCCAIN says:

Oh, if You could, Laz, could You point out one vote by Hayworth you have problems with? Just one is all I ask.

I mean if he’s such a wacko radical, this should be pretty easy foe you

  134. MFG says:

The country is done you just don’t see it yet

They will NEVER stop this until we become Venezuela or the Soviet Union

    Yes, secession, now

  135. lisab says:

“Face it, McCain votes with us about 82% of the time,”

except when it would hurt the gop the most

  136. isaywhateveryo says:

Will AZ go for the interlocutory appeal?

  137. MFG says:

McCain is in for another six years, it’s done, what’s the point of rehashing it

He is what he is, he does what he does, and he’s better than having a Communist Senator

  138. Brutus says:

Before this law is reviewed by the SC, I expect violence. People are just getting fed up.

O’hole will have all the “change” he can handle when in the latter part of 2011 and early 2012 his continuing policies accumulate this pent-up digust.

  139. MFG says:

    Why vote?

    I’m serious

    Why?

    It counts for nothing

Anything you vote for can be overturned by some Communist asshole at any time

    Why vote?

    What’s the point?

  140. Chekote says:

So, lets not rock the boat on Illegals. They are just victims being taken advantage by corporations.

Maybe people just want to fix the problem instead of just indulging themselves in slogans and empty rhetoric.

  141. Chekote says:

    Why vote?

Because that’s how we decide who runs our government.

  142. Brutus says:

    #147

I guess like AZ wanted to fix the problem and has been prohibited from doing.

  143. Gary Maxwell says:

Actually I think the 9th circuit has ruled in Cali favor so I think Clinton’s appointee might get reversed by the 9th circuit. Imagine that if you can.

  144. IJUSTHATETHATFREAKIN'MCCAIN says:

Yeah, Chek let’s let the law breakers go free because catching them will cost us more money in the short term. Gee, I wonder how much money we’ll save if we get rid of millions off welfare and Not have to build more schools or keep widening highways or hiring extra police because of the crime…

Nah, You are right. Let’s keep (and welcome ) the illegals.

  145. MFG says:

    I’ll fix the problem

    You hired an illegal alien?
    $100,000 fine per offense

    Second offense?
$250,000 fine and a ten year jail sentence

    Problem fixed

  146. Wes says:

Well, Chekote, how does histrionic rhetoric on your part about how you and your husband will be pulled over just for the hell of it fix the problem?

  147. Marv says:

    Dear Judge Susan Bolton,

On behalf of the conservative movement, I thank you for your ruling in the Federal Government lawsuit against Arizona and SB 1070.

Your ruling will serve to galvanize support of conservative Republican candidates around the country on both the state and Federal level. Your ruling will serve to further exemplify why liberal progresive Democrats cannot be trusted in matters of vital public importance.

Thank you for providing great material for campaign ads across the country in support of conservative candidates in the mid-term election.
Your ruling will not withstand Supreme Court scrutiny, but it will prove to be the margin of victory for conservatives.

  148. Chekote says:

Running around trying to figure out what “suspicion of being illegal” look like or acts like is not fixing the problem. It is an invitation to lawsuits.

  149. lisab says:

“Maybe people just want to fix the problem instead of just indulging themselves in slogans and empty rhetoric.”

the only fix is to close the border and make sure they know they will NEVER become legal

  150. Chekote says:

Thank you for providing great material for campaign ads across the country in support of conservative candidates in the mid-term election.

Yes. I am sure that Democrats will absolutely enjoy watching some in the “conservative” base engage in ugly rhetoric against Latinos.

  151. rdelbov says:

Beige Book from Federal reserve shows econ slowdown–say what?

    parts of the economy slowing?

  152. Marv says:

    Chek,

The conservative base will attack Democrats who support illegal immigration. I’m older than you and know a winning argument when I see it.

  153. Waingro says:

“Running around trying to figure out what “suspicion of being illegal” look like or acts like is not fixing the problem. It is an invitation to lawsuits.”

This is ignorant on so many levels.

  154. sam says:

basically, this ruling flips at least 3 Dem seats in AZ in Nov.

  155. Chekote says:

the only fix is to close the border and make sure they know they will NEVER become legal

That still doesn’t deal with people who are already here. Besides, a lot of the land across the border is privately owned and the owners have no interest in denying themselves access to the water and labor. I guess now the GOP will go wild with eminent domain. So let’s see. Today’s GOP has issues with the 14th Amendment, private property. What next?

  156. Charles says:

The 9th circuit will back Bolton. They are the most liberal circuit in the country for a reason.

Again, the statist are in full scale power grab mode now just as Polaris predicted.

  157. Chekote says:

This is ignorant on so many levels.

It seems to me that I nailed the fact that those provisions would be struck down. You can call me ignorant all you want.

  158. sam says:

no provisions have been struck down.

  159. Chekote says:

Again, the statist are in full scale power grab mode now just as Polaris predicted

Polaris also predicted that McCain would win and Obama would have abolished elections by now.

Sorry guys. But the law had constitutional problems written all over. The people who pushed were just interested in diverting from the fact that they raised taxes. And the wanted to rally the rabid base in AZ. Funny to see how many people fell for it.

  160. Waingro says:

Muehler v. Mena. 9-0 U.S. Supreme Court decision from 2005: “officers did not need reasonable suspicion to ask Mena for her name, date of birth, or immigration status.”

  161. Chekote says:

    Sam

I stand corrected. The provisions were blocked.

  162. sam says:

And it also ensures that, after the Nov elections, when the GOP will control over 35 states, at least 30 states will adopt AZ-like laws.

  163. Sharon says:

150….I can’t. However, I do feel she will be shot down by the SC.

  164. jason says:

Right, like its a surprise a liberal Democrat appointed by Clinton would not uphold the law.

  165. Wes says:

Chekote, I’m not shy about being a border-security advocate. Name ONE TIME I’ve used ugly rhetoric against latinos.

  166. jason says:

I think this will backfire big time on the Democrats. People will understand that their will and that of their elected officials is being thwarted for blatant political reasons.

  167. Chekote says:

    Muehler v. Mena

That case had to do with people in handcuff while they were executing a search warrant. No one has a problem with people being questioned while executing a search warrant.

  168. MFG says:

The deeper issue is the disenfranchisement of 75% of the electorate

We simply are no longer a nation governed by the will of the people

  169. Chekote says:

Name ONE TIME I’ve used ugly rhetoric against latinos.

But others have. And those are the people giving the Dems ammunition.

  170. Wes says:

I know what you mean, MFG. I felt the same way earlier this year when Obama was cramming Obamacare through Congress and in 2005 when the GOP was trying to ram “Terri’s Law” through.

  171. jason says:

This anti-Latino canard that Chekote keeps repeating is completely bogus. It’s just a Dem talking point like the “racist” canard so freely thrown around at moonbat sites.

  172. Wes says:

    Great article by Barone, Jason.

  173. MFG says:

I’m tired of New England, I’m tired of California, I’m tired of liberalism, I’m tired of penumbras, I’m tired of being told what to do by fascists, I’m tired of New York

Let us peacefully separate so the conservative south and west can live the way it wants to live and the wackos can live the way they want

The two sections of this country are like the bitter old married couple who despise each other but remain married for some ungodly reason…

  174. MFG says:

    Grrrrrrrr

Let me sign off, I’m too pissed off…

  175. jenny says:

i’m depressed. now, illegal immigrants will vote for harry reid!

  176. Wes says:

Although I completely disagree with Chekote on this, Jason, I guess I do understand her reasoning to some degree. She’s married to a latino and undoubtedly lives in a community where a lot of latinos reside and probably has many friends among them. It doesn;t justify her position, but it does make her choice understandable from her point of view.

  177. sam says:

Obama is intent on losing 75% of the country.

“The Democrats’ Redistricting Nightmare (David N. Bass, 7.28.10, American Spectator)”

“Dems Headed for Potential State House Disaster (Sean Trende, Jul 19, 2010, Real Clear Politics)”

“Dems sound alarm on state races (CHARLES MAHTESIAN, 7/23/10, Politico)”

  178. Wes says:

Jenny, please tell me you’re not married. If you are, your husband must be on the verge of a heart attack from despair at your constant doom-and-gloom caterwauling.

  179. Chekote says:

It’s just a Dem talking point like the “racist” canard so freely thrown around at moonbat sites.

Republicans throw around the “racist” charge too. I am so sick of “You are a racist”> “NO. You are!” going on between the two parties.

  180. Charles says:

The Dems no longer care about elections. At least not the ones in power anymore.

  181. Waingro says:

“That case had to do with people in handcuff while they were executing a search warrant. No one has a problem with people being questioned while executing a search warrant.”

Wrong. You are either ignoring or totally missing the holding of the case. The Court did not make that ruling based on Mena being handcuffed.

They said that those types of questions, INCLUDING one’s immigration status are not violative of the 4th amendment. It doesn’t matter if you are being held, arrested, or detained in any way.

If anything the Arizona law is even MORE restrictive than that.

  182. Waingro says:

#184, Wes, that does put things in perspective a bit.

  183. David says:

Depressing polls after yesterday’s good polls. i’ve rather lose any senate seat, but not Harry’s seat. So sad, the Republicans candidate was so far ahead in early spring and Harry’s approval was in the 30s. It appears we are also slipping in IL.

  184. David says:

Too bad AZ is part of the 9th circuit

  185. Chekote says:

I got work to do. We will pick up this conversation at a later point. In the meantime, this has nothing to do with my hubbie being a hot Latino. This has to do with what I believe is best for OUR COUNTRY.

  186. sam says:

This is what I am talking about. After the Nov takeover of most state houses, majority of states will have AZ-like immigration laws.

” How potent is the issue of illegal immigration? This potent: “ In the first six months of 2010, every state in regular session considered laws related to immigrants or immigration… As of June 30, 2010, 44 state legislatures passed 191 laws and adopted 128 resolutions. Five bills were vetoed, for a total of 314 enacted laws and resolutions.”

Montana, Nevada, North Dakota and Texas are not in regular session in 2010.”

Thank you, Scott Brown. Can’t let the peons know what the elites are stealing from them.

All kidding aside, candidates with facial hair always lose, unless they’re (i) in a black-majority district (ii) in a Hispanic-majority district or (iii) in AK or ND. Don Young has represented AK in Congress for 30 years now, and I think that he’s always had a beard.

  205. bunu says:

Jon Kyl approved judge made the decesion.
Ironically, on the recommendation of Sen. Jon Kyl (R-AZ) — an ardent proponent of SB-1070 — Bolton was nominated to the United States District Court for the District of Arizona by President Bill Clinton back in 2000. During her confirmation hearing, Kyl stated:

Well, there is one person in our state who’s a real expert on this in the judiciary, and that’s Judge Bolton. And because of her expertise and fairness, all of the contending interests from Arizona have been willing to place their concerns before her to be resolved, and she is right in the middle of this important litigation right now. They will be very sorry to see her leave in Maricopa County Superior Court bench. So, I have some mixed emotions in helping to nominate or to confirm Judge Bolton, but that’s how highly thought of she is.

Prior to the announcement of her decision, Kyl speculated that “she will parse the law, that is to say she will perhaps extract certain portions of it that she think might be problematic and might enjoin those portions calling additional briefings from the parties.” Before learning of Bolton’s decision, Gov. Jan Brewer (R-AZ) stated, “I’m confident Arizona will prevail.” Bolton has been described by her peers as an “impeccable” and “fearless” judge whose rulings are “well-reasoned and unambiguous.”

    #208–

    Unless you make your money

    a) Selling goods and services primarily to illegals

    or

    b) Using illegals as cheap labor to stay competitive and/or maximize your profits.

One thing to keep in mind about illegals is that their presence is not an unmitigated drain on our economy. Whether they are a net plus or a net negative is up for debate, of course, but evicting them all would cause pain for everyone (i.e., the cost of a gallon of orange juice would probably go up).

What we need is tougher enforcement of existing immigration laws combined with some more robust guest worker options. Either that or we need to ship to unemployed populations of Detroit and Las Vegas to California farms, but I have a feeling they’d rather stay home and collect unemployment checks.

  208. bunu says:

Conservatives should vote against every single federalist society member and all democratic nominees to the Supreme Court.

  209. Gary Maxwell says:

Andy McCarthy connects up the dots for you on the impact Judge Bolton just had on this election, and maybe the next one too:

This decision is going to anger most of the country. The upshot of it is to tell Americans that if they want the immigration laws enforced, they are going to need a president willing to do it, a Congress willing to make clear that the federal government has no interest in preempting state enforcement, and the selection of judges who will not invent novel legal theories to frustrate enforcement. They are not going to get that from the Obama/Reid/Pelosi Democrats.

What could all of that mean in November?

  210. lisab says:

the judge did NOT strike down the law actually, just prevented it being implemented on time … it still may go into effect

and even the delay can be overturned.

this is turning into a political nightmare for democrats.

the implementation of the law would have resulted in ILLEGAL ALIENS having to show ID the same way legal citizens do now

instead this keeps digging the hole deeper and deeper for the dems

showing why everyone needs to vote dems out this election

  211. DW says:

Pakistan Pushes Draconian New Terror Bill
Secret Trials, Unchallengeable Summary Detentions on the Table

The bill dramatically redefines the concept of “terrorism” to encompass such things as setting up unapproved radio stations, damaging public property and resisting police. It empowers the government on a number of further fronts, however.
The bill will also give the government the power to wiretap any and all communication in Pakistan, and seize control of any telecommunications systems in the nation. It would also allow the government to revoke passports of suspects, to summarily detain them without charges for 90 days, and to hold secret trials. Any assets of a detainee would be “assumed unless proven contrary” to be terrorism funds, and seized.
Violations of any of the new types of “terrorism,” even the radio station clause, could be punished with death. The detention of a suspect could not be challenged in any court in Pakistan.

Angle hasn’t had a good day in about 6 weeks. That has to change soon, you would think.

Although, it looks like it won’t change today. She thinks the DISCLOSE bill that was defeated in the Senate yesterday is actually established law that the Supreme Court has pared back using the First Amendment…

  241. theoneandonlyfinn says:

I posted this on AoS earlier, and its just as relevant here.

    A Truce.

For just ONE f****** cycle, can we wait to call each other wackos and rinos until AFTER the election?
We have Angle in Nevada, Kirk in Illinois. THERE IS NO OTHER OPTION IN EITHER STATE IF OUR GOAL IS TO DEFEAT THE LEFT.
We are down to a zero-sum game. Do some of our candidates suck? Of course- but no worse electorally than Democrats who managed to win in 2006 and 2008 by playing off divisions in the GOP.

I think Chekote is crazy on immigration. I think Howard Dean sometimes falls into the all-or-nothing camp of puritanicalism.

Do I wish both of them ill and want to chase them out?
    ARE YOU CRAZY???
I have gay friends, black friends, Dem friends, Indy friends, TP friends, old acquaintenances, my younger siblings, all AT LEAST CONSIDERING VOTING GOP for the first time because of the economy and the Democrat’s mindless policy ramming. Nothing else, whos more conservative, whos nuttier, who isnt the best candidate this cycle for our party, NONE of that crap matters now!

If the moderates AND the conservatives work together to back their candidates in their states, Kirk jumps ahead. Angle jumps ahead. Crist deflates like a frighteningly bizarre garfield mylar balloon. FIORINA starts climbing back. Johnson and Rossi stay even or pull ahead.
and the Senate will be ours.

So basically, its time to make a simple decision. A)Keep fighting whining and blaming others for “screwing it up” WHEN WE ARE 100 DAYS AHEAD OF THE ELECTION or B) Grumble, but work together to stop the Democrats. There is no 3rd option. The last time that one was “tried”, we had November 2008.////

  242. mnw says:

I’m one of those “DEM plants” who sent a check to Angle two weeks ago, & sent checks today to Hultgren & Kinzinger.

Also, I don’t post stuff that’s just ridiculous.

  243. LaZebra says:

Despite what she says in #194, Wes is right about Chekote in #184. Her problem with SB1070 is because she is married to a Latino. I can understand that, and I cut her a little slack for that. This is the same reason that Marco Rubio and Jeb Bush at first had problems with it.

But where Chekote is dead wrong is in coming here to this site to rub our noses in this defeat! Where have you been lately, Chekote? We haven’t seen much of you lately — and now you come here TODAY? Why? Do you not understand that all of us are very upset about this, that many of us are mourning this as a huge loss for America? You are an outright jerk for coming here to gloat.

  244. bunu says:

I think Rand Paul wins. Jeb Bush’s candidate Rubio loses.

  245. Tommy_Boy says:

    Jason,

I’m just wondering what’s going on with the Chicago GOP. I recognize that it doesn’t hurt our chances but I’m just wondering what’s going on.

  246. Chekote says:

    JT

The biggest prediction blunders were by Polaris and rdelbov.

  247. Jason T says:

Tommy, there really is no viable Cook County GOP my friend. The Democrats hold a 3 to 1 registration advantage and the GOP is not very competitive in county races. Roskam and Kirk hold House seats in Cook County, but the majority of their distircts are in other counties.

  248. Chekote says:

Her problem with SB1070 is because she is married to a Latino.

Not true. My problem with the law is the Farmers Branch effect. I learn from mistakes. You guys apparently don’t.

Anyway, if my hubby being Latino influences my position, I guess the same is true for all others affiliated with Latinos. And Latinos themselves. So why is the GOP trying to push voters like me away?????

  249. Cory says:

I think Howard Dean’s “Obama won’t get more than 39%” has to take the prediction blunder cake.

  250. Jason T says:

    258. and yourself. You said McDonnell was toast the day of the WaPo smear, and recently said Rand Paul would lose you cannot deny that Chekote.

You tend to buy into the MSM spin Chekote, as you said Brewer was in trouble also over the AZ law. You are intelligent but fooled by the East Coast Media

  251. Charles says:

The problem with the Moderates working with the Conservatives theory is it rarely works out like that.

What you end up with is the Moderates telling the conservatives where and what to compromise on.

And again, the elections do no matter to these ‘democrats’ anymore. They’ve already weighed the results and decided it’s worth it ie Obamacare. They’re willing and ready to commit mass political suicide to achieve their agenda.

  252. Jason T says:

Cory, or your bold statement that Deathcare would be a big winner in RAS polling after it passed

  253. LaZebra says:

Chekote it is fine, no one takes your predictions seriously, except maybe Mnw.
    Comment by Jason T — July 28, 2010 @ 4:33 pm

Funny that you’d roll MNW and Chekote together. On immigration, they could not be further apart. Chekote thinks those of us who support border enforcement are racists — and MNW says he “hates wetbacks”.

  254. Jason T says:

Mnw, how do we know you actually donated?

  255. Gary Maxwell says:

Cory: ” Obamacare will be very popular after people figure out what is in this bill”. Now that is a prediction worthy of serious mocking. He would show his embarrassment if his head were not firmly buried inside his butt cheeks.

  256. Jason T says:

Cory, “Obama is a light skinned Negro” was not said by Angle dimwit. That was your racist Friend Harry Reid.

Reid has health problems also, as he suffered a stroke in 2006

  257. jason says:

“The biggest prediction blunders were by Polaris and rdelbov.”

I think the biggest prediction blunder of the year was Chekote’s prediction that the AZ bill would hurt Republicans and be unpopular.

  258. Jason T says:

    thanks Gary

  259. Jason T says:

    269. Exactly Jason. But after Brewer wins, she will say I predicted Brewer would win , but on 10/31, like she did with McDonnell

  260. jason says:

“I think Rand Paul wins. Jeb Bush’s candidate Rubio loses’

If I had to pick one to win I would pick Rubio over faux Republican Paul.

  261. Hugh G. Rection says:

You know, my predickions are never wrong.

  262. Cory says:

Oh God, how did I forget that.
Yeah, I guess that takes the cake.

    Worst predictions ever:

    1. Cory: HC Reform will have greater approval than disapproval in RAS the day it’s signed into law
    2. Howard Dean: Obama will not get to 39% support nationally against McCain – electoral blowout to surpass Reagan’s
    3. Polaris: Every single poll in the entire world is wrong, McCain will win by 3%!
    4. Chekote: Something about McDonnell being in trouble after the ‘essay’ came out.

    AZ 6 — Flakey (R)
    AZ 7 — grijalva (D)
    AZ 8 — Gabby Giffords (D)

    1, 5 and 8 MAY switch to R.

    4 and 7 will remain D

Redistricting in 2012 will be crucial and is nonpartisan. This means 2 D , 2 R and 1 Indep on the committee. THe Independent is appointed by Brewer, by the way.

We’ll also gain at least one seat, and probably only one.

  269. Jason T says:

Thanks Kristen, did not realize the GOV picked the 5th member

  270. marc says:

    From The Hotline:

Democratic National Committee chairman Tim Kaine will be accusing GOP leaders of being beholden to the Tea Party’s agenda at a press conference this morning, mocking Republican plans to offer voters a legislative commitment modeled after the Contract with America. As part of its initiative, the DNC is launching a website accusing Republicans of supporting a legislative blueprint in line with the Tea Party movement that includes repeal of the health care law and Wall Street reform, extending tax breaks, privatization of Social Security and the elimination of the Department of Education and the Department of Energy.

Democrats clearly figure the easiest way to disqualify Republican challengers is by connecting them to the more politically-unpopular views of the opposition. It’s a sign that they need to rally their own base to have a fighting shot in this year’s midterms, and have given up winning over disaffected independents who are as motivated to come out to vote..

  271. Jason T says:

Thought Oregon would be closer, but Wyden will still have to spend $$$

  272. Kristen says:

So, as far as I can tell, the remanding (IS THIS THE RIGHT VERB???) of S1070 will help Republicans in this state.

1 5 and 8 have a greater likelihood of switching now.

  273. Brandon says:

It was a 10 point lead for Wyden last month 47-37. Not sure what happened in the last month to increase it to 16 points.

  274. Jason T says:

Marc, Tim Kaine? He is a laughingstock of D.C and not taken seriously after they lost MASS, NJ, and VA.

    Irrelevant

  275. rdelbov says:

Why exactly are taking anything Cory (Canadian) & C*** seriousily?

    What a joke

  276. Tommy_Boy says:

    This is comical from Ambinder:

“BTW: If President Obama is able to increase his approval rating by five or six points nationally, he can probably save the House for Democrats.”

    And if I won a million dollars….

  277. rdelbov says:

I could suggest with MOE that Wyden is still under 50% as 51% is quite close to 50%–Okay put that one for me on the correct column–please

Not that I am suggesting Wyden is in trouble but he will be spending his bucks–maybe even some DC senate bucks.

  278. Jason T says:

Marc, thanks for the article from Hotline, but that is also a very left wing site

  279. rdelbov says:

    TB

  287. DW says:

wow, the GOP has one bad day of polling, and its not like they were “horrible” polls, and one bad judicial decision…and out come all the trolls, plants and canadian communists who otherwise have been holed up and hiding. Shows how desperate they are for anything they consider good news.

  288. Jason T says:

Add, meant to ask you, but if too personal do not answer my friend. Their is a beautiful Synagogue on Sheridan near I think Addison on the lakefront. I always wondered how it looked on the inside. Have you been there?

  289. Ryan says:

Bad senate polling today for the GOP no other way to look at it.

Oregon was a longshot at best, but Wyden wont sweat now barring some change. I still think Kirk pulls it out, but have been thinking that for a while and he is not getting significant traction. Money lead will help. Nevada looks to be a pure toss-up, with Angle really struggling at this point. A reid victory would make what I am expecting to be a big election night a lot less joyful. Still a bit worried about Ohio, Kentucky and Missouri as well.

  290. Jason T says:

    300. DW, it just shows you who the weak kneed are.

I am just as confident today as last week

  291. Jason T says:

  293. Transparent Dem Troll says:

as a committed life-long conservative, Reagan-republican, I have been very disturbed by all the recent polls and news. Today however, I feel strangly at peace.

  294. Jason T says:

After the roller coaster of the Christie/Corzine race in 2009, i have learned to chill out. The gloomers were even worse then calling Christie a screw up, and Corzine had more $$$ than Reid.

  295. DW says:

Jason T. Exactly. I would rather be behind now, keeping the powder dry, and fire away with spending after labor day and win in Nov, than shooting the whole wad now just to get ahead in July polls so the eeyores are happy, and then have nothing to spend in September and October and thereby lose in November.

  296. Jason T says:

Health Care has already destroyed the House Democrats, Obama can only help the Senate Dems in close races, but Reagan tried that in 1986 and still lost 8 seats

  297. Jason T says:

Right DW, I learned a lot from the NJ race when I let the gloomers get to me.

  298. Tommy_Boy says:

Hotline is a pretty partisan left-wing site disguised as a non-partisan site.

  299. BPL in Scottsdale says:

Rest of you pathetic eeyores can go home & (please!) takes a shower.

  300. Jason T says:

I also recall gloomers here on the night of the Brown Election, saying his vote in Boston was to small to win

  301. Gary Maxwell says:

I got to tell you, you dont get elected in July you get elected or not in November. So Poll today are nothing more than polls. But as Andy McCarthy so aptly put it, this decision today will just piss off a majority of the country and remind them that if they want the immigration laws enforced, you need to remove Nancy, Harry and ultimately Zero from power. No time like getting after that, starting in 99 days.

  302. Jason T says:

BPL, hire a moving van for Harry Mitchell, the POS Marxist

  303. rdelbov says:

    Jason T

The Dudley/Gov race seems to have its own set of dynamics. He is near 50% with Wyden at 51% or 47%. A big lead for Wyden might lull people to not send in their mail in ballots but I think Dudley’s margin in a blue state is a result of the “I am mad as heck and can’t take it anymore syndrome”.

Folks in OR need to vent and the Gov’s race is a good place. Wyden is ultra hard working-a nice guy so let’s dump on Kitz.

That’s another reason I think Gillybrand in NY will be closer then today’s poll. New Yorkers will put Cuomo and Schumer but they need a protest vote. So that’s Gilly

  304. Jason T says:

tommy, thanks. Hotline might be run by a Clintonista, like that Marxist At CQ.

when in doubt just remember that these sites are not non partisan but left wing.

  305. Ryan says:

I certainly agree that this is one day, many to go. Still have a fair shot to win the Senate in November and should take the house. Of course, though, I would like to see us put a few races away early in the game, to keep my stress level down :)

  306. rdelbov says:

  308. DW says:

I went back to the HHR archives, and here are some quotes from Oct 30, 2009 from Eeyores on the NJ Gov race:

“20.I am afraid that Corzine steals this one with union thuggery, fraudulent ballots, and Democrat fraud.”

“my contention is that despite those people’s obvious intelligence, they still engage in the masochism of living in that hellhole. As such, they deserve what they get along with the plurality of idiots who intend to put the nation’s single most failed Governor back in office for four more years.”

“37.The undecideds are overwhelmingly Democrat over Republican/indy by a three-to-one margin. I think Kos analysis is correct. The undecideds are unlikely to go to Christie since they are mainly Democrats or indy-lean Dems.”

“77.It’s over in NJ. Kossack are already predicting a win because of the “democratic machine” as they call it. democratic machine is now the politically correct way of describing voter fraud.”

These all written by regulars. I withheld the names.

  309. rdelbov says:

    Ryan

I take your point but here is my possible list of races within MOE came this Nov (8%)

    ME Gov
    MA Gov
    NH senate
    VT Gov
    RI Gov
    CT Gov
    PA senate
    FL senate
    FL Gov
    Ky senate
    OH Gov
    OH senate
    IL senate
    WI Gov
    WI senate
    MN Gov
    MO senate
    Co senate
    CO Gov
    NM Gov
    NV senate
    CA Gov
    CA senate
    WA senate
    OR Gov

Just 25 statewide races within polling Margin of Error say 8% or so.

Now I am assuming MI-IL-PA Gov all move out of MOE

So chill we only got 25 races-not counting 50 house races on election night to be concerned with.

the future of mankind hangs on this but chill

  310. Gary Maxwell says:

That and no-nothing under-25 University pukes in his district who go caught in 2008 Obama hoopla. I weep for the future.

  317. Jason T says:

no worries BPL. Mitchell is marxist scum

  318. BPL in Scottsdale says:

I’ll just go the Obi Wes Kenobi route & Blame GW Bush for Mitchell winning in 2006. Blame Bush (who OWK would have you believe was worse than Clinton) is the catch-all for notholding p**sy Congressional Republicans responsible for not representing their districts well.

I’m sure if ppl like Obi Wes go back far enough they can tag Bush with responsibility for the John Kennedy assassination. He’s that much of a dope and evil genius at the same time.

  319. addisonst says:

Amid all the other doom and gloom for conservatives, I will inject something out of the blue that is positive for conservatives.

The Massachusetts Senate approved a bill that would automatically award MA’s 12 (soon to be 11) electoral votes to the top popular vote getter in presidential elections. Since MA is very likely to vote Democrat in most upcoming election cycles, this helps the Republican. Think about it. Even with Ohio slightly in doubt late on election night 2004, Bush would have been the unquestionable winner because MA’s 12 would have automatically gone to Bush since he had a clear 3 million vote margin in the popular vote. That would have made Kerry’s concession in Ohio the next day moot since Bush would have had a minimum of 278 EVs without Ohio based on the new MA EV law. Since these are all Blue states voting for this absurd bill, this only can help Republican candidates for the next several presidential cycles.

Just a thought to consider. I know it’s not the current topic of this thread. Of course, if MA goes for the Republican anytime soon, I doubt we would have a very tight EV count or popular vote count to concern oursevles with.

  334. Jeff G. says:

    #345,

I know. Isn’t it great? They think they’re actually helping the Democrat candidate.

  335. BPL in Scottsdale says:

339 – Jason T, what does that have to do with Mitchell defeating Hayworth in 2006? Granted, it doesn’t help him in his current quest, but 2006 was a diff story.

  336. Cory says:

States passing laws bypassing the Electoral College doesn’t help or hurt either party.

If enough states sign on (hopefully they won’t) it simply changes the Presidential contest from the EC winner to the popular vote winner. So, it would only help Republicans if you expect the next candidate who wins the popular vote but loses the EC to be a Republican.

  337. Jason T says:

Never mind, LaZe Bra. You rarely have a point. It’s part of your chram.

  343. Jeff G. says:

    Cory,

It will only help a Republican if Blue states predominantly do it, which is currently the case. Do the math.

  344. BPL in Scottsdale says:

“Bpl, true.My point was JD did a bad job post congress, and it now hurting him.”

Fair enough. He sure hasn’t lit the GOP primary electorate on fire. Just nobody mistake a potential McCain victory for the AZ GOP electorate loving him. We don’t.

“BPL. if any of those 3 marxist DEMS survive in 2010, every AZ GOP official should be fired”

At this point I’ll take 2 of 3. But all 3 should be defeated. If GOP doesn’t grab 2 of 3 heads need to roll.

  345. Cory says:

    You don’t understand the bill(s), Jeff G.

It doesn’t matter if Blue, Purple, Red, or Neon Yellow states do it. It only takes effect when states with at least 270 EC votes sign on.

Until that happens, each state awards its EC votes to the winner within the State (current system) and the EC winner wins the election.

If those bills take effect, then those 270+ EC votes go to the popular vote winner. Meaning, the popular vote winner wins the election.

$250,000 fine and a ten year jail sentence

    Problem fixed

So now businesses have to check the legality of everyone they hire? I get the data from my employees, send it to PayChex and they do the rest. If everything matches up in PayChex I’m supposed to be bankrupted because an illegal scammed the system?

No. There are many ways, many variations in solving this problem but it all starts with controlling the border.

Another example: You hire someone to paint your house are YOU responsible for knowing if this person is here legally. Hell no.
