HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Let’s see…the South Korean defense minister is resigning while Barack Obama is sending ships into the area. I am sure the United Nations will be as useless as usual….

Tom DeLay is convicted of money laundering and could spend the rest of his natural life in jail….

The New York Times gives us their “Thanksgiving Guide” to the 2012 Republican field. For the life of me, I do not know why news organizations continue to even suggest Michael Bloomberg has an outside chance of winning the Republican nomination like this article did.

No Thanksgiving Day polls that I could find….

My Villanova Wildcats are heading to the Championship Game of the preseason NIT tournament. Meanwhile, the Miami Heat still suck even with LeBron James….

I know it sounds cliche, but I continue to be thankful for many of things that most people are thankful for. I am especially thankful I have a parents who support and love me unconditionally. I am thankful that I have a job that allows me to have a home and never have to worry about where my next meal is coming from.

And finally, I am thankful everyday to have met and to be engaged to a wonderful and supportive woman who has made my life better every day we have been together….

I wish everyone out there, especially those who unable or can’t be home with family or friends, a Happy Thanksgiving!

Oh…and NFL picks one post down….

    Need some prayers, please.

I thanked God that it was not as bad as it could have been. Please keep #2 son in prayers. Thanks.

    Added my own prayer.

    Happy Thanksgiving to HHRers.

I’m really depressed about Delay. I would’ve bet heavily on acquittal– thought it would be a half hour NG. I’m usually pretty fair at predicting jury verdicts, too.

  11. Bitterlaw says:

Free Calculus the Cat. Post it Dave!

  12. MD says:

Walt – I am good thoughts for him right now.

HD – that would spell the end of the tea party. They would become a little splinter group.

  13. MD says:

I don’t want to think about Delay. Maybe he wins on appeal…probably not.

He does 3 and gets probation.

Remember, he is a R so there is a different standard. Is Jefferson in prison?

  14. ac1 says:

The amazing thing about the GOP majority of 66-39 in the Alabama House is that this is under a major D gerrymander. The AL Dems in 2000 went so far as to overpopulate the GOP districts and underpopulate the Dem districts. After the new map, it may be to the point that every white district elects an R and every black districts elects a D.

I have no use for delay. He is a poster child for corruption. I couldn’t care less if he was railroaded or not. He deserves whatever he gets.

Sending best wishes your way, Walt.

That said, its a long season and they’ll probably turn it around, but I hope they don’t

  20. Waingro says:

I proffered this on another thread in regards to Delay’s conviction: isn’t the Texas law that Delay was found guilty of (banning corporations from sending campaign money directly) unconstitutional in light of SCOTUS Citizens United decision? It sounds to me like he may have grounds for an appeal.

  21. JulStol says:

    Happy Thanksgiving all!

  22. Gary Maxwell says:

Good news for Delay, appeals usually hang on misapplication of law, and that is the total foundation of the “novel” application of money laundering statue.

In Texas the Criminal Appeals court judges are all elected and of course all are Republicans. And that is before you get to the TX Supreme Court whic is also populated 100% with Republicans.

This travesty of justice will be overturned, and the liberals will not get the scalp they seek.

  23. jones says:

Walt prayers ad best to all of yours.

    Happy Thanksgiving to all.

  24. AuH2ORepublican says:

I wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving Day.

addisonst, what happened on November 25, 1923?

  25. sothisishopeandchange says:

the birth of archie wilson…a backup outfielder that played 51 games for 3 different teams.

  26. Phil says:

Travis County DA Ronnie Earl is probably the biggest Democrat hack in America. Check that. There’s no PROBABLY to it. He was embarrased when he tried to railrooad KBH in the early 90s just before she was first elected to the senate. He saw she was a sure winner and went after her on some trumped up charge to torpedo her career before it got started.

The judge threw the whole case out the first day of the trial. Regardless of what you think of Delay, and I’m not a fan, trust me. Earl is an even bigger scumbag.

  27. Marv says:

On November 25, 1923, the Green Bay Packers, in their third season and coached by Curly Lambeau defeated the Duluth Kelleys 10-0. Duluth, also in their third season, was coached by Dewey Scanlon.

  28. Jim B. says:

Gary, the TX supreme court would have no role in the DeLay case. The Ct of Criminal Appeals is the highest court for criminal cases.

  29. Diogenes says:

Better to have the Delay verdict come after the election than before though at least.

As for delay, this goes to show, every person in power needs really good legal counsel.

  30. swift boater says:

    Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Perhaps the TX legislature should remove the prosecutorial role of the Travis Cty DA and make it the role of a Repub leaning County. Good for the goose….

Yes I know its Austin’s County, but who cares? Ones as good as the next.

  31. mnw says:

    GM & Waingro

Hope you’re rite. The logic sounds good 2 me. I know nothing about this area of the law.

  32. Gary Maxwell says:

Yes you are correct JIM the court of criminal appeals is the highest court for criminal matters, except for death penalty cases, which may be what threw me. But the occupants of those seats on the court, just like the Tx Supreme Court, are all Republicans. There is a lower court for appeals before you get to the Court of Criminal Appeals as well.

  33. MD says:

I am thankful I still have a house. My wife was heating butter in a pan to make cream puffs or some nonsense to bring to my brother in laws house tonight and left it unattended to talk to me upstairs.

She smelled smoke, ran down and saw flames, and then water on it. The flames shot up to the ceiling, I got the girls out of the house and then a miracle happened: it flamed out! If you could see my kitchen you would understand the extent of the miracle. My italian wife has all kinds of drapes and valiances and none caught on fire. The 1 area of the kitchen has singed a bit on the wall and ceiling. We were going to get it painted anyway.

Everyone is safe. I still have a house.

    My nerves are shot!

  35. MFG says:

Much to be thankful for, especially the greatly reduced number of Communists in Congress after the November elections…

Have a good scotch and say a prayer. You have much to be thankful for, not just the fire went out. Bless you and your family.

My poor girls were hysterical. Everyone is good now.

  40. hellbelly says:

    re:10

I think the Tea Party folks SHOULD go after corporate America (especially Wall Street and corporations like General Electric who bowed before BO’s agenda).

These folks have failed America (and I’ve worked on Wall Street for over 25 years). The only thing driving managements is next year’s bonus without regard to the impact these decisions will have on the future of the country. What’s especially galling about the recently enacted Dodd Frank bill is that it makes “too big to fail” our nation’s policy – enabling the folks who brought us the financial crisis carte blanche to do whatever they want in the knowledge that the government will bail them out. At the same time these new regulations will make it prohibitively expensive for start ups to flourish in the new world order.

As for firms like General Electric, their bet on a “green agenda” has blinded them to any anti-capitalist yearnings coming out of the White House.

…and they make those God-awful light bulbs that contain mercury while providing no light.

    Tear ‘em all down!

  41. MD says:

I actually pushed my 10 year ouf of the house and my 8 year old followed. I screamed “call 911″ but by the time I turned around and grabbed the fire extinquisher the flames had gone out.

Then my wife screams at me to run to the neighbors and tell them not to call 911. They basically will rip apart your house. I don’t them, it is their job. Anyway, I ran in my socks in 40 degree weather across a soaking wet lawn to the neighbors house. The girls were sobbing.

    Too much excitement.

  42. hellbelly says:

    MD,

I need a drink just reading your travails!

    Wow!

  43. sharon says:

MD…thankful to God you are all ok.

  44. sharon says:

Dave….gutsy call on the Denver v St. Louis game. I only wish Tebow was starting. Would be fun to see those to QB’s at it again.

  45. Jan says:

That was awful, MD, just awful. But, what a mircle, in that the fire didn’t travel to adjacent flamables, igniting more than could be contained! One never knows what is around the corner, do they! Anyway, am grateful that you and your loved ones are safe and experienced only marginal damage to your home.

May your Thanksgiving go more smoothly, from this point on!

  46. MD says:

Thank you guys. I want to wish everyone, even my enemies, a Happy Thanksgiving.

I am going to watch some football. I just poured myself a shot Johnnie Walker Blue.

Who do you think will be the first GOPer to announce he/she is running for POTUS?

Romney is chomping on the bit to do it but he doesn’t want to be the first to announce.

  49. MD says:

Thanks Jan and Chek. She is still making the cream puffs.

  50. Phil says:

I don’t care for any of our retreads.

  51. MD says:

Phil – I agree. I am closest to Palin, issues wise, but she is just too white hot. Gingrich can’t be serious, Huck is a regional candidate if I have ever seen one and Romney has obvious issues.

We really are going to need someone else.

  52. Chekote says:

    Phil

I am with you. I would like to see someone new and fresh. But I am sure Romney will run again.

  53. MD says:

I will puke if I hear him say he is going for the gold again.

  54. Phil says:

Thune’s my current choice. I don’t see any other new name on the horizon. The rest are retreads. Christie would be great in any debate with Obama. However, it’s too soon for him. It’s also too soon for Rubio. Perhaps as a VP. The future rising stars are Christie, McDonnell, Noem, Martinez….obviously too early for all of those.

Watch Kristi Noem if she wins Johnson’s senate seat. She’s only 38. She’ll be 44 in 2016. Might be a good bet in 2020 – only 48 and will be in her second senate term.

  55. Marv says:

I think that we might see Jeb Bush toss his hat in the ring later during this cycle.

  56. Marv says:

    Phil,

Great improvement by the Aggies. I look for them to win tonight and keep Texas from going to a bowl.

Why do people keep saying this when they know it’s not true?

Any candidate that’s a legitimate threat to the One will be blasted and vaporized by Left. The fact that the plant is agreeing to this line of thinking should be a clue to abandon it.

Let the primary sort these things out. Sheesh.

  59. Marv says:

Charles, I tend to agree with you. We need to let the Primary process work and whomever wins enough delegates will win the nomination. Whomever wins will be a formidable foe for Obama. No GOP candidate should be dismissed before the first caucus or primary election.

  60. Chekote says:

Any candidate that’s a legitimate threat to the One will be blasted and vaporized by Left.

BS. The Left has tried desperately to vaporize Christie. Have they succeeded? NO! Why? Christie know what and why he is doing. The same cannot be said for Palin who keeps on giving fodder to the Left.

  61. Chekote says:

I don’t see Palin or Romney beating Obama.

  62. EML1 says:

The left has already vaporized Palin. She went up against the left and MSM and lost. Moderates, who are essential to win the presidency, will not vote for her. Let’s pick someone that the left hasn’t already beaten down.

  63. Sir Alberto McDougalitoitoito says:

    Happy Thanksgiving all! Even Bunu!

  64. Cock Robin says:

MD, perhaps your recent travails were kharma for your ad-hominem attacks of yesterday… you should reflect on that.

    Happy Thanksgiving all!

  65. Cock Robin says:

How can anyone take Palin seriously when – on top of everything else – stars in her own reality show?

She appeals to the lowest common denominator of Americans.

We must appeal to the better angels of our nature and find a legitimate candidate for 2012.

  66. rdelbov says:

I loved that retread Reagan in 1980-Mercy he gave a new meaning to the word “retread” as in his face you had enough wrinkles to make 20 prunes.

So I don’t rule out retreads.

Mind you I am an old fashioned guy.

I still look up to many of politicians and fully believe that politics can be a high calling.

I am not of the MTV generation–well I am of the MTV generation-I just not was part of it.

When I saw Palin clubbing the fish on her show the other day that was it for me. Reagan chopped wood–he did not club fish to death.

  67. Sir Alberto McDougalitoitoito says:

What about Bob Riley of Alabama? Presidential timber? Could be.

  68. rdelbov says:

I like Bob Riley–quiet unsung very successful governor.

  69. Charles says:

rdel, Reagan wasn’t a fisherman though. And clubbing a fish is a common practice.

  70. JulStol says:

    Holy cr*p MD!

Glad you, your family, and your house are ok

  71. Walt says:

    MD,

God is watching out for you and your loved ones in providing the Thanksgiving miracle for you today. So glad it was not a big tragedy.

Update on son, 2nd degree burns only, might have to have skin graft on thumb, no scaring, should heal in about 2 months. They attended to him (I’ll leave out the medical details) and suprisingly allowed him to come back home today. But I have to do the 160 mile round trip to take him back down tomorrow, and then at least one other day next week.

I’ll still take all the prayers of intercession you can send his way for medical healing and perifferal non-medical issues.

  72. Walt says:

Been up since about 3:30 this AM. Not much sleep. Off to bed.

Enjoy your families and friends this Thanksgiving day and remember to be truly thankful for all the gresat things God has put on your plate.

    Don’t take things for granted…

    Happy Thanksgiving everyone,

Ladies and Gentlemen, We got him!

    Enemy of Ron Paul Convicted

Neocon Tom DeLay, a fixer and power-mad Republican pol, has been convicted for breaking some government edict. I am not for him going to a government jail, and costing the taxpayers even more, but I do remember his congressional website, which featured the flapping flag of a foreign government. I remember his threats and bribes and other corrupt maneuvers to get through the vast Bush payoff to big pharma, the medicare drug benefit, and many other State-enhancing, big-business subsidizing items. I remember his chickenhawk warmongering, and all the Iraqi innocents he helped kill. And I remember his hatred for Ron Paul, his targeting of him in the House, his attempt to redistrict him out of office, his constant harassment. Tom DeLay was an important Republican leader, and an envious, religious-right crook. I’d take pleasure in his comeuppance, except that his replacements are no better, may be worse, but are seen as good guys. Open criminals are always better than covert ones.

  80. hellbelly says:

    I have one quick question:

    Is Ron Paul retarded?

  81. Diamond Jim says:

  82. Tommy_Boy says:

Is Vick really going to win the MVP award?

  83. rdelbov says:

From the perspective of my memory from December 1979 to June 1980.

Ronald Reagan certainly had the appearance of a great candidate but not a giant–certainly not head and shoulders above George Bush or so much better then even Howard Baker. Mind you Howard Baker was from here in TN and I was a fan/supporter of his senate run in 1978.

In 1980 Reagan lost the Iowa Straw poll/caucus to Bush41. He actually was nearly out of money for the NH primary and his campaign seemed to be heading down the tubes. He did look old and tired at one point in this effort but in 1980 there was a full month between Iowa & New Hampshire. Reagan’s personal campaigning-the Manchester Union newspaper’s constant drumbeat for him plus the debate (I paid for this microphone) ad lib turned it around.

So I am looking for a GOP contender in 2012 to rise to the occassion–it could be a retread or could be a newbie.

  84. Tommy_Boy says:

So people here actually get squemish when they see a woman clubbing a fish?

  85. Tommy_Boy says:

  86. Robbie says:

I think Marv is right. I think Jeb Bush will get into the race for two reasons. First, the current field is very weak and each of the top four candidates has severe flaws. Second, Obama is very beatable.

The second point is the most important point. If Jeb or someone like him wants to be president, waiting for 2016 may not be the right path. If Romney or Pawlenty wins, a guy like Jeb couldn’t run again until 2020. I don’t see him passing up this chance.

If unemployment stays near 9% and Obamacare remains very unpopular, Bush could cruise to the presidency and pull big gains in the Senate with him.

Gingrich is a bombastic fool who got schooled by Clinton. He got lucky in 1994 that Clinton screwed up by going too far left too soon. After 1994, Clinton showed Gingrich how politics is played, and slapped him around like a rented mule.

Romney is a non-starter because a large portion of GOP primary voters will never accept him.

I think the race will be between Bush and Palin, with Bush winning handily. Funny that the race will be between somebody whose family can take some blame for decimating the Republican party on one hand, and, on the other hand, someone who can at least take some credit for resurrecting it.

Gingrich: too many wives and too damaged

    Romney: too mormon

Bush: too Bush and too not running

see you cannot win in 2012 … you have already agreed that your candidates are all unsuitable

the numbers of all the hispanics who will vote against your racist policies about requiring showing ID’s to vote or visas to immigrate are so great, their ballots will block out the sun

  99. lisab says:

you should all vote for obama

king obama requires only that you kneel

Charles, Reagan hunted too but he was not into clubbing fish and skinning animals on TV.
Just too much for me and I am as social conservative as it you can be. So Palin and I jive issue wise.
    ================================================
    Again failed comparison.

The Media currently is 1)far more radicalized compared to then and 2)With the advance of Cable TV and the Internet, every single detail of Reagan would been known worldwide within hours of it occurring.

You cannot sit there and honestly say with a straight face, the current group of media jackals wouldn’t have attacked him as they have Palin.

Secondly as far as Jeb goes… DOA. Those infamous Tea Party people that everyone seems to love to hate will not back another Bush/blueblood. Neither will those indies everyone wants to court, reason being they don’t want anymore attempts a ‘dynasty’ in the WH. Which is what you would have with 3 Bushes serving.

  101. lisab says:

MSNBC is actually openly in favor of the dem candidates

    but they are being bought

so that may change by 2012 if the new owners wish to get higher ratings

  102. lisab says:

    give it up …

the “plants” have already gotten you to declare that you cannot support all of the potential candidates

    “you need someone new”

like … um … the mayor of bumskuttle georgia … yeah that will work

  103. Charles says:

lisa, true or false, Had Rommel not committed suicide, he would have been able to command a successful German counterattack on D-Day.

  104. Marv says:

    #105 Charles,

That would be False. Hitler’s aides refused to awaken him when they were told of the invasion on the morning of D-Day. The German Panzer divisions were not ordered to counterattack until much later in the day. Too late.

  105. lisab says:

false, his plan of placing the panzers near the beaches was denied

    plus

hitler was convinced the d-day landings were a feint for the real invasion at calais and did not release the panzers to normandy until way too late

    and

even had rommel been allowed to run the show, the overwhelming air superiority of the allies may have been too insurmountable anyway

  106. rdelbov says:

    Charles

faulty comparison on your part. Palin invited the TV crew to come and watch her and her family-for pay. While fishing she and her family (on a commercial fishing boat) clubbed fish to death.

Reagan chopped wood-cleared brush and rode his horses.

Reagan was far to smart to ever been seen doing “common” things like clubbing fish.

There’s savvy potraitures to a media and then there is just dumb.

  107. Marv says:

    #107 lisab,

Very good summation. This History channel recently had “The Air War in HD” on. It dealt with the 8th Air Force bombing campaign in Europe from the beginning until the end. It was quite informative.

  108. lisab says:

however, why the germans did not dump every machine gun, mortar, and field piece captured from the french army at normandy always amazd me

they had thousands of them and did not want to support them with spare parts and such

dumping them at normandy for a one time fight seems ideal

  109. MFG says:

Probably a logistical nightmare as far as ammunition etc

  110. lisab says:

“Probably a logistical nightmare as far as ammunition etc”

thus the reason to put them at normandy for one battle

they did not want to support the stuff, so putting it all in one place makes sense

instead they scattered it all over europe.

(that is, they did use it but not in a centralized place)

  111. lisab says:

plus normandy was perfect for mortars and machine guns.

the germans captured over 50,000 french machine guns, 5,000 mortars and 5,000 field guns of 75mm or better

imagine the germans had them at normandy

even if 75% had been scavenged for spare parts by 1944

    Wrong Rdel.

You’re making an assumption based on incorrect information. Nobody here knows how Reagan would have reacted or handled the ‘new media’ or social networking. We can guess individually that he may used it a lot, used very little or done a fifty-fifty style of approach.

What we can be more certain about is that newer, more radical Leftwing media would have pulled out all the stops to attack him. I’m talking hundreds of Web-ads trying to paint him as a joke. Mass media attacks staged by students on him in their universities. And we mustn’t forget what the wonderful world of film & TV would do, SNL’s stuff would be tame compared to whatever BET would churn out against him.

In short you’re holding people upto a mythical standard that no longer exists using criteria that are out-dated now. Modern candidates have to be very careful about everyone now. It only takes one Cellphone camera/video to wreck a campaign as we all know.

  113. rdelbov says:

    Marv

I like the history channel but WWII is just about told out.

The story of the 8th airforce is a great one. Can we say “12 O’clock high”–Memphis Belle among other movies and numerous books.

When I 1st got cable I found myself watching it more as the stories were fresher.

    Now its getting repetitive.

  114. Diogenes says:

There’s a radical left-wing media and there’s also moron candidates that don’t know how to drive a narrative and protect their brand.

Sarah Palin has shot herself more times in the foot media-wise and not all of the blame can be placed on media bias.

The more radical right-wingers like Charles scream bias, the more pathetic it seems.

Your favorite candidate has failed in the court of public opinion. Deal with it moron.

  115. Mark Cali says:

Media accuses Palin of X. Palin doubles down on X. Media wins because they drive the narrative and Palin confirms what they were saying. Now it’s just getting old.

  116. lisab says:

yes the media does not like palin’s image

so you should vote for obama

the dems tout obama for X, obama doubles down on X. the dems win because they drive the narrative and obama confirms what they were saying.

  117. Robbie says:

Regardless of the poll, there are four top candidates for the Republicans. In no particular order, they are Romney, Palin, Gingrich, and Huckabee. Each has a serious flaw that makes it difficult to see them as national winners.

Romney – He has Romneycare to deal with. He flipped on many positions. Lost badly is a weak field in 2008.

Gingrich – He is a shameless self promoter. He was rolled by Clinton and was forced out of the Congress.

Huckabee – He is smooth talker, but was defeated in South Carolina because he wasn’t a true conservative. Other than life, his economic record is poor. I don’t see state he pulls away from Obama.

Palin – No need to explain. She is toxi to Indpendent voters. They are the ones who gave the party the big win in 2010.

I gather youy eat your fish alive. They kill your big macs the same way.

  121. lisab says:

    “What is her image?”

    that does not matter.

“they”, whoever “they” are, don’t like her, so before this plays out

the gop needs to immediately abandon all the currently known potential candidates, bad mouth them as much as possible

and support an imaginary candidate that no one has heard of, that can come out of bumskittle georgia or pinquah, iowa and beat all of the others in the primaries

    and

who has secretly been a governor for two or three terms, raised $100 million dollars and has enough diplomatic experience to compete with obama

oh, and HE must be hispanic and suppor comprehensive immigration reform and does not want to do anything silly like require ID’s to vote

    or …

we could just wait to see who emerges and what the economic and political situation is before we choose

    but that would be silly

  122. Diogenes says:

It doesn’t really matter that she clubbed a fish. It matters that she was taped doing it which will lend itself to an easy, exaggerated 30-second commercial about it during the 2012 general election.

Political candidates almost always expressly forbid pictures of them while they are eating. Yes, everyone eats, but most fail to realize that nobody looks good while doing it.

  123. Tommy_Boy says:

    #124

Failed hack lawyer, there is nothing to exaggerate about clubbing a fish. In fact, her opponents wouldn’t want images of her clubbing a fish.

Why not? Because it shows someone doing manual labor and all pols want images of them doing manual labor.

There’s a reason why kerry went duck hunting. The idea was good, the problem was that it was clear Kerry couldn’t duck hunt.

it’s pretty clear that palin knows how to club a fish.

  124. JulStol says:

Guys, it’s Thanksgiving. Lay off the politics. It won’t kill ya

  125. Mark Cali says:

I don’t have a problem with the fishing thing or hunting, for that matter. But then again I haven’t seen the show so I don’t know what all went on.

All I know is I watched the first episode of “Sarah Palin’s AK” and Palin whining about climbing the mountain came off very lame, her inability to control her children (on and off camera) was unattractive, etc. This didn’t help endear me to her at the end of the day. She’s overexposed and wearing on a lot of people who formerly had goodwill for her. I can only speak for myself and my immediate circle of friends/family of course.

  126. lisab says:

“It doesn’t really matter that she clubbed a fish. It matters that she was taped doing it which will lend itself to an easy, exaggerated 30-second commercial about it during the 2012 general election.”

    yeah …

show north koreans marching, the iranian dude screaming, the chinese shaking hands with putin … then ask, who do you want?

show obama in his mom jeans eating in paris with his pinky extended

    then

    palin clubbling fish

sometimes you need a leader not afraid to take matters into her own hands

  127. lisab says:

“Guys, it’s Thanksgiving. Lay off the politics. It won’t kill ya”

ok … who else gagged when their father-in-law asked “who wants the skin” (off the turkey)?

  128. dylan says:

I am just heartbroken that cooley lost the ag race out here in ca. The gop just has no ability to win anything for the forseeable 10 years in this state

  129. maelstrom says:

Did uncle Jim Bob do that thing with the turkey neck hanging out of his fly?

  130. Tim says:

Now personally, I think that the media absolutely loves Gov. Palin. She’s very atractive. She has a following, that translate into ratings points. She’s always good for a controversial comment, as Fox News found out just the other day. And, she has some political clout.

Why would they not love her?

  131. Tim says:

I might add here that she certainly seems to love the media. Every time I turn on the tv, I can generally either find her, or some story about her, or a member of her family.

  132. MFG says:

    Hahahaha

Palin has gotten the worst press I have ever seen

Charles Manson got better press than Palin

    It’s been character assassination 24/7 nonstop for 2 years…

  133. AuH2ORepublican says:

addisonst, I asked you what happened on 11/25/1923 because you posted “Four score and seven years ago” and I assumed that you were talking about something that happened 87 years ago today.

  134. Tim says:

The worst press you’ve ever seen?

Were you around during the Johnson or Nixon Administrations?

Not that they didn’t deserve what they got. But, they got mauled by the press.

In the year and a half since she resigned, Palin has made at least 13 million dollars. And, she heavily used the media to help her do it.

I think this woman is having the time of her life.

  135. Mark Cali says:

Plus she got a little more credit (than I believe was deserved) on her performance helping GOP candidates win in November. They conveniently didn’t bash her for COD, Miller losing. But they made a big deal in the primary wins. The media generally pushed (and wants to continue to push) the meme that Palin is the kingmaker of the party.

The media definitely wants Palin to succeed in getting the GOP nomination and use her as the face of ignorance, racism and everything extreme right. Not saying that she is any of these things, just saying that the media understands the delicate balance and are tearing the conservative movement down very artfully.

  136. MFG says:

Much worse press than Nixon, LBJ, Bush

    Much worse

Can you imagine Trig Trutherism being tried with any other politician…???

The media hasn’t been able to win one round yet with her. She just pasted the Wall Street Journal on QE2 for God’s sake.

There’s a reason why the NYT article on her was fair and of good quality. She made them play by her terms. Where as most of the other candidates would have been only too happy to jump to their jump.

As for the Rock climbing, I thought it humanized her a great deal, I wouldn’t be surprised if she goes back and this time successfully climbs the rock with little help.
