The five reasons I asserted that Governor Perry would have the best shot at beating Obama were simple ones: He decisively created more jobs than Obama. He greatly respects and tries to encourage small businesses. He has a clear understanding of federalism and what states shouldn’t be forced into. I’m not saying that Romney cannot win the white working class voters. He can. And the other side of the Ohio story is that these same voters who voted against Kasich — they even more overwhelmingly voted against Obama and his health care mandate.
My point, and the point of the article, is that — despite the polls — we should sometimes look at the “positioning” of the candidate. The positioning of Mitt Romney is that he looks and acts like “that CEO who laid you off”. In 2008, Romney performed very poorly with white working class voters, beaten among them badly by McCain and Huckabee. It’s looking more and more like Ohio will be a must-win state for our side, and maybe Wisconsin too. Can Wall Street Mitt win these states? Maybe, but maybe not.
I thought the PPP poll out of Ohio this past week was very revealing: Cain 34, Newt 20, Romney 19. He’s in THIRD place in Ohio! Something about Mitt does not play well in the Buckeye State. Could it be his Wall Street/CEO image? Or maybe it was his flip-flopping on helping Kasich that reminded Ohio votes that he’s the 2012 version of John Kerry.

My disagreement with the tenents of Mormonism are what they are. They have the right to believe what they want…as do I.
Freedom of religion means having the right to believe your faith is right and others aren’t as much (especially when they directly conflict with your). This is not bigotry, hatred, intolerance, ect.
I don’t come on here trying to convert anyone. When I speak out on my religion it is because of the bigot police are rounding up “bigots” for cyber lynching based on the comments of 1 or 2 tastless “evangelicals” (fyi SSQ is catholic).
My only concern with Romney’s religion was and still partly is that is would cause him electoral issues (i.e. 20-28% of voters of every demographic say they would never vote for a mormon). I posted a comment a while back that it is widely accepted by the general public that Mormons aren’t mainstream Christian. I know that obama proxies will go after “Jesus & Satan are brothers”, magic underwear”, “heaven for women is being eternally pregenant”, “planets for good mormons”, “Mormon church post-humously baptizing holocaust Jews into the Mormon church”, ect. I would feel the same way about a toungue speaking, pentacostal or any other “evangelical” that has peculiar beliefs that are easily made into an electable liability.
I tend to think that Romney is the best that is running because the others are either stupid or unelectable or both.

Mittmentum2012 can’t seem to fathom this. This race is going to wide open since I don’t believe anyone in the field right now can win the nomination on the first ballot if a new candidate emerges.

Paul got a close second in Maryland and also Washington and Alaska last time.
Nevada we would have won had Lowden not cheated. There is a decent chance we can win some of these states just by organization again.
Might have been some other states as well that I can’t remember.

Secondly, think about those Midwest states we need to win — Wisconsin, Iowa, Michigan, and especially Ohio. They are states filled with white working class voters. We need to win at least 60% of them to win. Will they really vote for Wall Street CEO Mitt Romney? Maybe, but it’s not crazy to think they’re not going to trust him. As one has said, “Mitt Romney reminds them of that CEO who laid them off.”

I think Gov Perry did pretty well tonight. Perhaps he’ll gain some traction now. He certainly has feel better about his performance.

I think that the corporatism is only a liability in Ohio. Kasich really needs to undo some of the damage he’s done. In Wisconsin, I think Walker has done a very good job and when the economy recovery picks up (from anemic to somewhat anemic), Wisconsin will compare so favorably to its neighbors, that Walker and by extension the GOP presidential candidate will benefit.
