  5. Addisonst says:

Moody’s Investors Service said late Friday that it may downgrade the rating on about $1 billion of Penn State’s debt because of rising credit risks stemming from a child sexual abuse scandal. Moody’s has a Aa1 revenue bond rating on Penn State. “We will monitor possible emerging risks emanating from potential lawsuits/settlements, weaker student demand, declines in philanthropic support, changes in state relationship and significant management or governance changes,” Moody’s said in a statement.

No exposure for the university to worry about. They didn’t do anything wrong. Nothing to see here folks. Move along.

Some former players are sending money to Sandusky.

Glad MD is not here he would have a conniption.

“Sam Stellatella, a three-position player in the 1950s, has donated money to Sandusky’s defense and urged other former players to do the same.

“I told him he’s going to need a million dollars to defend himself,” the 73-year-old Stellatella said. “He called me back and said, ‘What am I going to do with this money?’ I said, ‘Use it for your lawyer because you’re going to need it.’ ”

Stellatella sent Sandusky $100. He wrote personal letters to other members of the 1959 Liberty Bowl team that defeated a Bear Bryant-coached Alabama team and asked they also donate. He does not know how much money was raised”

  8. Addisonst says:

Ok malaprop. Sending alleged child molesters to represent your skewl is ok until they are convicted child molesters.

  9. lisab says:

    regardless of guilt or innocence
it will get very nasty however

here is an advertizement from a law firm … who knew there were law firms that specialize in molestation?

“Terani Law Firm handles many sex crime cases and we know just how aggressive the prosecutors are going to be when they are attacking you. Our molestation lawyers are very prepared to do whatever is necessary to win in court, even if it means attacking the credibility of a young “victim”. Our ONLY allegiance is to our clients and protecting and ensuring their freedom. Unlike other criminal law firms out there, Terani Law Firm isn’t scared to do the dirty work that is sometimes required to give a client the best possible chance at beating a molestation charge.

Accusations of molestation are typically made by very young boys and girls or their family members. Family members often have personal motivation for making these accusations, such as revenge or obtaining custody of the children. Despite the cruel nature of these false accusations our molestation attorneys have seen this happen many times. Our criminal defense team refuses to let something as tragic as this happen to any of our clients. Our molestation defense lawyers won’t hesitate to stand up to the person making the accusation, and inform them that making false accusations of molestation is a serious crime. We’ll uncover any motive that the accusing party may have and expose it to the prosecution. Being angry at someone is no excuse for taking away the rest of their life.

Other times it is the children themselves that are making accusations. It is Terani Law Firm’s belief that children don’t have much credibility. Children that are very young have vivid imaginations, and may mistake something they saw on television, in the movies, or even a dream for something that actually happened. Other times they may be angry for a particular reason, such as being disciplined, and may fabricate a story to get the adult “in trouble” without fully realizing how devastating the consequences can be. They can also be manipulated to lie by an adult who wishes to have someone prosecuted. Any molestation defense attorney at our criminal law firm will use all means necessary for exposing these situations to ensure our client’s freedom.”

IF he is guilty? This is not a court of law, this is a blog, the guy is guilty as hell.

You know it and everyone else does to.

    I hate the PC crap.

  26. Addisonst says:

Mike McQueary, the start witness for the prosecution in the Sandusky scandal, who didn’t do nearly enough, is in protective custody because Penn State fans are sending him death threats for taking down the program. Stay classy Penn State fans. You keep showing the world that you’re as vile as your coach and former president.

    On Savage?

  38. Bitterlaw says:

I see that Add has now equated 40,000 PSU students with a child molester because a few idiots mage death threats. By the way, some of the threats were because McQuery didn’t help the boy.

Add’s Motto: “Always Certain. Often Wrong.”

  39. Tim V says:

if cain were to take a cabinet position, he would like defense

  40. Bitterlaw says:

“I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Ms. Lewinsky.”

  41. lisab says:

i do not know he is guilty, i would bet he is, but an accusation is not proof

if it was, cain would be guilty too

  42. Bitterlaw says:

Lisab – stop with your damned reliance upon facts. Every conservative knows that if MSNBC reported that 2+2 = 4 that it must be false and the correct number is 5. The poll numbers for 5 would shoot up.

  43. Tim V says:

Why would u make a major announcement
    On Savage

I think it was just a “tease” from drudge for savage

  44. Bitterlaw says:

Having said that, I believe Sandusky will be found guilty but you know the insanity plea will be coming soon.

  45. Tim V says:

    no major announcement

  46. Bitterlaw says:

Maybe Cain found Perry’s third department.

  47. lisab says:

“I believe Sandusky will be found guilty”

me too, but only because it is in the news.

i don’t know what evidence they have

  48. addisonst says:

I don’t know the Pa. definition of whistleblower. But as a general rule, you are not a whistleblower if your are compelled to testify by subpoena.

McQueary went to Paterno. Maybe he did more but to date we haven’t seen anything that would show that to be the case.

What it appears he did is the opposite of whistle blowing. He did nothing.

  49. addisonst says:

Bitter, the PSU debt is on creditwatch due to potential liability. This is odd sayeth I. Because I was informed that PSU did not have any liability for its failure to out Short Eyes.

  50. addisonst says:

“i don’t know what evidence they have”

The evidence they have is 8 victims in the grand jury report, and 9 more that have stepped forward since it came out.

And McCreary. Who testified at the grand jury hearing that he witnessed a rape.

The cross examination of him will be whithering. But he doesn’t have a motive to make that up. Espeically since he didn’t go to the police in the first place out of fear. They will try an argue that he’s mistaken about what he saw.

  51. Bitterlaw says:

Add – I know you are an expert on everything. I forgot that you know more about civil liability law in PA than I do after 17 years of practicing here. I never said Penn State could not be liable. I laid out the 4 part test to impose liability for off campus incidents. I’m sorry I did not defer to you.

  52. addisonst says:

and bitter what we’ve seen thus far from PSU supporters, is a bunch of drunks getting violent out of anger for the firing of their coach, a bunch of death threats against the guy who is the prosecution star witness, ex players saying paterno is a scapegoat and a victim, a university conspiracy that so far consists of the entire coaching staff, the athletic director, the vp of fin, who oversaw the u. police dept, the president.

And as a special surprise since it’s not in the grand jury document, the Gen counsel for the university who by a fluke of coincidence was also the gen counsel or sat on the board of 2nd Mile.

Can you say disbarrment? I knew you could.
    Ta da.

  53. addisonst says:

Bitter, you made it very clear that from what you saw, you didn’t think there would be liability.

I don’t know why you need to get angry everytime your assertions are challenged.

The PSU debt is on creditwatch and you’re laying out a road map to liability? Why? because it’s a s.j. for the plaintiff?

You seem to be taking this whole psu thing very personally. I don’t get it. you didn’t go there, do you have a family tie there?

This isn’t just a rogue rapist. It’s an institutional coverup that’s the bigger story. Much bigger.

  54. lisab says:

“8 victims in the grand jury report”

    not a grand jury report!!!

why, that must mean he is guilty

  55. Bitterlaw says:

So, Add, the next time a bunch of drunk students do something at UT, then all Texas students are guilty? Also, you are now an expert on disbarment proceedings? Are you saying that the General Counsel should be disbarred because Sandusky is evil? Unless there is evidence the lawyer specifically violated a law or ethical cannon, I don’t see disbarment.

  56. Bitterlaw says:

Add – I have no family or friends at PS. As far as summary judgment, that is extremely rare for a Plaintiff to win.

  57. walt says:

Went on a day trip with my wife and now back home.

  58. mnw says:

    “not a GJ report,” huh?

GJs meet in secret & don’t “report”– they indict.

Witnesses testify in secret & aren’t supposed to talk about their secret testimony, but… it does happen.

  59. lisab says:

“Justice Department statistics recently obtained by Legal Times, which reveal that 99.9 percent of the defendants called before federal grand juries are indicted”

  60. Bitterlaw says:

Witnesses are also not cross-examined in the grand jury proceedings. Hence the statement, “The DA can indict a ham sandwich.”

  61. lisab says:

    “not a GJ report,” huh?

    i was mocking addisonst’s statement

  62. addisonst says:

Bitter I didn’t say all psu students are guilty. What I’ve seen from psu fans and alum in defending and apologizing for the great man is appalling and indefensible. this school has had 3 indictments already and no doubt more are coming. As for disbarrment, if the gc, didn’t carry out his duty to the school and protected short eyes then um yeah, his ticket is a goner. In illinois if you are aware of a crime and don’t report it your ticket is yanked. This guy didn’t just fail to report a crime, he covered it up. To protect somebody.

  63. addisonst says:

Oh and malaprop, short eyes admitted to wrongdoing in 98. That’s in the report too.

  64. Knighthawk says:

    36. Relax timmy pretty sure it’s not till 9pm, and I doubt it’s all that major.

    46. Now that would be funny! 🙂

  65. addisonst says:

And bitter mfg hates the bears bc some drunk jerks at a bear saint game shouted katrina at saint fans. I’m not even painting w that broad a brush. But there has been a ton of boorish and offensive behavior. Its not 5 cranks. McQueary is in protective custody.

  66. Bitterlaw says:

Add – you are only hearing the people defending Paterno and Penn State. Most of the people I know who went there are sick over this and very quiet. They aren’t demonstrating.

  67. Benny says:

Nobody here with the OH numbers?? Brandon where r u?? he was the only one with all MO numbers from Rasmussen

  68. addisonst says:

Yeah malaprop. This is all a sham. Prosecutorial misconduct like the Amirault case. Where was that btw? The last atty gen decided it would be a good career move to go after a football coach who was beloved and had a charity to boot. What’s that atty gen doing for a living right now?

  69. jenny says:

is it true that most of the kids raped were black? this is going to become a racial story. also, it should be obvious that penn state has a lot of gays there. who is else would ignore something like this? or support a gay pedophile like sandusky?

  70. lisab says:

i did not say he was not guilty, he may be

but he has not had his say in court yet.

if your way was the law, cain would already be in jail and on the sex offender list

  71. addisonst says:

Ok pedophiles are not classified by gay or straight. Any attempt to do so is idiotic.

  72. SUSYQUE says:

Does anyone know the race of the young boys violated at Penn State. It is rumored that many are black. It is also rumored that many coaches or people who worked at Penn State were gay and that is why the
abuse continued for so many years.

  73. NAMBLA Rep #666 says:

    People like me jenny!

  74. addisonst says:

Well once again I can now stop my brawl w Bitter and Malaprop which is at least to me friendly fire, and turn toward the idiot brigade of jenny and flanders. Both of whom seem like examples of what a lefty would think a righty would sound like.

  75. Benny says:

    Ohio (Rasmussen):

    46% Approve
    54% Disapprove

Ohio voters currently favor a Generic Republican over the president by a 46% to 41% margin. Four percent (4%) prefer a third option, while 10% are undecided.

  76. Knighthawk says:

Does it really matter if most of them were black, doesn’t make it any more or less wrong.

  77. addisonst says:

Malaprop, cain hasn’t been accused of a crime. And I haven’t opined at all on that one as to who to believe. Now join me in ripping the moronic duo of jenny and flanders the hall monitor.

  78. Are SUZY and jenny the same person?

  79. Bitterlaw says:

Add – we just disagree. Nothing personal. Now, let us unite as brothers against this idiotic comment:

It is also rumored that many coaches or people who worked at Penn State were gay and that is why the
abuse continued for so many years.

Since we’re dealing in rumors, I heard that the reason Rick Perry forgot the third department as that he was suffering severe rectal pain from his night in a gay bath house in Dearborn. he apparently had come from a prayer rally and needed a little release. It’s just a rumor, though, so I won’t report it.

  80. addisonst says:

The hall monitor is really big on labels. She’s obsessed w who is catholic and jew, white and black, gay and straight. And apparently she thinks that gays are predisposed to support pedophilia. Why does it matter what color the victims are?

  81. Marv says:

I think that it’s still a two man race; Perry and whomever comes out of the trio of Cain, Romney, and Newt. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

  82. Knighthawk says:

    82. Maybe Marv’s the consistent conservative. 😉

  83. addisonst says:

Bitter, maybe the hall monitor should crusade against football. Since the coaches covered to keep their jobs and win games. Is the hall monitor real or is it a fake? Bc if its a fake it should be banned.

  84. jenny says:

#79, nope! this is a gay scandal. those poor boys were raped by a gay man.

  85. addisonst says:

Btw bitter when we are on the same side I think you’re really cute. Want to go to a bathhouse sometime?

  86. you would perhaps feel better if they raped white little girls?

  93. GLADD Mafia says:

    Well, we sure would.

  97. Ok. I just came here for that.

  98. Knighthawk says:

  99. addisonst says:

  101. Knighthawk says:

  102. addisonst says:

Well this is good news. Aggie boy isn’t stupid. He’s just a choker. Mr pres dinner jacket is about to fire on israel. What should we do?

  111. Knighthawk says:

    110. It’s really hard to ignore the comical hypocrisy at times. That said I appreciate the lack of SCREAMING (all-caps) today it’s an improvement.

    111. Done! See you there 😉

  112. addisonst says:

I don’t want to ignore your posts and I’m not going to. I’m going to mock you and your posts. I’m going to point out that if you are real and not a lefty version of a conservative, you are a danger to conservatives. You are a bigot and a dope. And I’m not going to ignore your stupidity for 5 seconds. You are an embarrassment to Christ.

  113. jenny says:

i once thought rubio was gay until i found out that he was married. by the way, sandusky did not have biological kids. sandusky and his wife had foster kids. by the way, one of their foster kids committed suicide.

  114. Knighthawk says:

    112. Let them fire back or hit first. Maybe we should first consult the magic 8-ball though it always gives such sage advice.

  115. SUSYQUE says:

  118. Knighthawk says:

    118. Oh no, you don’t want to hear me try and sing.

  119. Knighthawk says:

Jenny didn’t you used to think Perry was gay too, or was that Ch_k (aka she who shall not be named)? It was one of you ladies from Texas for sure as I recall.

  120. addisonst says:

Knight I know you are wicked handsome when u explain the laffer curve and how there is an optimal taxation rate and anything over that diminishes revenues. Omg I think it moved. Call me tonight cutie.

  121. jenny says:

yep! there’s a rumor that perry is gay.

  122. lisab says:

“cain hasn’t been accused of a crime. ”

forcing a woman’s head into your crotch is a crime

  123. addisonst says:

Perry is a tad on the fastidious side don’t you think. A little too fashionable if u ask me. And I’ve pointed out his proclivity for wooly americans as an aggie student.

  124. Wes says:

    It has begun.

A State Senator and State Rep from MS have both switched from Dem to GOP. The latter switch ensures Dems have no chance at all of even splitting the Lower House with the still-uncalled races.

  125. SUSYQUE says:

#114…this is my last communication with you. You have a dark soul and a foul mind. Any man who degrades decent women, as you do, has a serious emotional problem. I am not an embarrassment to my Lord Jesus…I am His ambassador! If you had any spiritual discernment you would have know that. Every evil word you spew out from your mouth returns to your own head. You will reap what you sow.

  126. addisonst says:

Malaprop, the state hasn’t accused cain of a crime. Now stop bickering and join me against the gay bigots. As always in our unholy alliance, you are uncle joe and I am churchill.

  127. lisab says:

Exactly what else is he supposed to do–wave a magic wand and make it go away? Ay Dios Mio. Is there no such thing as a realistic point of view in politics anymore?

Addendum: Dems are touting far-left he/she Heidi Heitkamp’s chances against Berg by pointing to polls by the same pollster who said Berg would lose to Pomeroy just before Berg won. Let me know how that one works out, guys.

  153. Wes says:

I agree, Jan. I hate using the term moderation because it implies a lack of core principle, but there needs to be a judicious approach to governing contrasting with the steamroller style of politics advocated by the extremes of both parties. The most effective Republicans have not been those who overreached as John Kasich did but those who understood the elections last year, while reflective of a desire for change, did not mean an immediate complete rewrite of everything as Scott Walker realized.

  172. hellbelly says:

I hate to break up tonight’s conjecture about who is gay and who isn’t, but its getting hard to ignore the fact that with Mitt stuck at 25%, its becoming increasingly clear that Newt Gingrich is going to be the Republican nominee in 2012.

….and, I’ve become increasingly convinced that he’s the one Republican who can kick Obama’s butt back to Chicago. Axelrod and his cronies won’t know how to deal with someone who can outdebate their guy with one arm tied behind his back, and who’s flaws are so well known already, that they can’t sucker-punch him with something that sounds newly outrageous.

  173. Knighthawk says:

Would this be more in line with tonight’s theme?

  174. Bitterlaw says:

I don’t care who Queen was doing. This is still obe of my favorite songs – if cranked up really loud.

  175. SUSYQUE says:

Years ago, I became aware of a deviate sexual seminar taking place at PSU. The keynote speaker was a pedophile who was promoting raping children: this is exactly what pedophiles do. The pro life community was outraged by this, but there was little that could be done. PSU is run by the Hard Left and the school is wide-open for this perversion. I guess that raping children is now a human right to these people. The PSU administration, led by president Graham Spanier, did not renounce this. I can vividly remember my disgust at this. Wednesday Spanier was fired over the Jerry Sandusky pedophile incident.
I researched the pedophile event at PSU and the result was stunning. I was literally speechless. The pedophile event took place in March 2002 which was the exact month that Sandusky raped a 10 year old boy on campus!!! This was the incident that brought down PSU. Both the pedophile speaking on the PSU campus about raping children and the young boy being raped occurred only 21 days apart. Of all the judgment links I have reported on this blog and in my books, this was one of the most stunning.

  176. Knighthawk says:

    173. You can play Indian, I’ll shot my gun at you.

  180. Bitterlaw says:

Hellbelly sufered a little brain damage in college but DAMN – he could dance!

  181. Knighthawk says:

178 – I have to admit I’d pay money to watch that debate particularly the type he will challenge obama too, course nothing really prevents Obama from declining them all.

  182. SUSYQUE says:

    #181 continued:
PSU was judged by the LORD in March 2002 for promoting the ordinance of pedophilia on campus. By ordinance, I mean making it legal or a norm. No one in authority on campus renounced this pedophile. It took 9 years for the judgment to manifest, but it is now fully manifested for all the world to see. This is just the beginning. God is bringing down America. A nation cannot promote the homosexual agenda against God’s ordained marriage and family and not be judged.

  183. hellbelly says:

Wes…..Mitt has been at 24% forever. He’s not broken above 26-27% despite the fact that he’s the front runner in a remarkably flawed GOP field.

Cain is done – not ready for prime time.
Perry is done – never ready for prime time and didn’t want to be here in the first place.
    Backhmann – please.
Paul – crazy as a loon.
Santorum – not sure why, but not catching on.

Gingrich – the one guy who’s everyone else’s in the field’s second choice. And, as the other’s fall by the way-side, the guy who will be the top choice.

  184. Bitterlaw says:

SUSYQUE – do you have any original thoughts? You post more links and quotes than Emerica and Marv combined.

  185. addisonst says:

Ok who wants to tell susy the idiot that the key guy in the pedophile scandal is joe paterno. And joe spoke at which convention? 88 or 92 oon behalf of bush. Susy you blithering idiot. U are a walking ad for obama will u please shove a salami in your mouth and shut up?

  186. addisonst says:

And dave the time has come to ban her. if she’s real, she a david dook disaster.

  187. Bitterlaw says:

God is bringing down America. A nation cannot promote the homosexual agenda against God’s ordained marriage and family and not be judged.

SUSYQUE – what time do services start at Westboro Baptist Church? How long have you been a member? Have you been to any funerals on your own yet or are you still in Rev. Phelps’ training program?

  188. hellbelly says:

Imagine BO trying to match wits with Gingrich on a stage. Talk about folks saying “wow…..this guy is good”.

BO’s worst nightmare is a united party behind Gingrich. He’s actually the one guy who can pull that off.

  189. Wes says:

You’ve apparently missed MD’s multiple postings about Gingrich over the past few days, Hellbelly. Seriously Gingrich has as much chance as I of being the next GOP presidential nominee.

  190. jan says:

    Wes & Ad

This blog really moved fast. I left it for a few minutes and it just multiplied in posts.

Yes, I agree wes with the term judicial approach in politics. However, there seems to be little of that applied these days. My wires were fried tonight by one blog which is more far right — only one poster, but sometimes that’s all it takes.

  191. hellbelly says:

Wes…..MD’s posts tend to be along the lines of “if you don’t support Romney you’re an anti-Mormon nut who doesn’t want to win”

    I’ve stopped taking him seriously.

  192. hellbelly says:

…and if that doesn’t tempt him back to the HHR, nothing will!

  193. addisonst says:

Dave its time to cut this off. There are people looking at us. I don’t think susy is real which is all the more reason to ban her. She is grotesque.

  194. Wes says:

I’m not referring to MD’s posts about Romney, Hellbelly. I was referring to his many posts laden with citatoons about Gingrich’s multiple recent left-wing proclivities.

  195. hellbelly says:

Newt led a revolution that had the GOP take the House at a time when I never thought that was possible. No one in the GOP race has those sort of bonafides.

  196. Bitterlaw says:

hellbelly – Newt was Pelosi’s couch buddy on Global Warming. He backed Hillary’s mandates. He blasted Paul Ryan’s debt plan as extreme. Sorry, he’s just as flawed as everybody else.

  197. jason says:

Newt is not going to be the nominee. He has more baggage than Samsonite.

  198. jason says:

” Newt led a revolution that had the GOP take the House at a time when I never thought that was possible”

Yep and then he blew it.

Like a crook who is smart enough to rob a bank but not smart enough to know how to spend it.

  199. Bitterlaw says:

Seriously, SUSYQUE, how are your thoughts on God’s punishment of America any different than the Westboro Baptist Church mf-ers?

  200. Wes says:

Sadly, Jan, many think being judicious and pragmatic in one’s approach to governance necessarily means capitulation. It does not. Walker capitulated on nothing, but he understood what would be palatable and what would not. That’s why he won. Even the highly organized attempts by the uniins to overturn the elections via recalls failed because Walker kept a reasoned perspective in his reforms. That’s why Walker will not be recalled when the unions try it next year.

  201. Knighthawk says:

    201. Oh just relax and kiss me.

  202. addisonst says:

Newt isn’t going to be the nominee. And he’s a fraud. But he’s pushing the convo in the right direction.

  203. Wes says:

Newt was a brilliant tactician. As the face of the party and its titular leader, he was deeply wanting.

  204. jason says:

susyque is a brainless idiot. as irrelevant to this site as bunu.

  205. hellbelly says:

Newt is remarkably flawed (Global warming? – stupidity)….but he’s right on the main issues (foreign affairs which, believe it or not, will actually be important in the next 12 months) and size of government. The man who wrote the Contract for America is also the smartest guy in the race for the GOP – and there’s no close second.

His flaws (marriage and otherwise) are so well known that there are no surprises. He’ll make BO seem like a chump in any debate.

  206. Bitterlaw says:

Knight – I watched that whole video to see if her top stayed on. It did. How did you get lisab to be on video?

  207. lisab says:

mine is way better, you guys are terrible gay people

  208. hellbelly says:

Guys, even Reagan had his flaws (he signed an abortion bill in California for goodness sake).

Newt has made stupid mistakes and I wouldn’t want him to marry my sister.

But, given the current crop of candidates, I’d really like him to be the next president.

  209. Wes says:

Gingrich already proved he was unfit for a leadership role in the ’90s. He should be a behind-the-scenes strategist. He’s far better in that role than as the face of the party.

  210. jason says:

    211. That was a great campaign. I remember there was one where nothing happened to the bag after some incident and the punch line was “what chance would a 200lb porter have”

  211. addisonst says:

I wish I could agree w hellbelly on newt. Alas I cannot. Newt is flawed as both a candidate and a human. Next.

  212. jan says:

#218 — good points, wes. Just comparing Walker, for instance with Kasich’s approach’s to dealing with the unions, where the former was successful and the latter overreached.

Sadly, I feel that the right is overreaching in some of their ‘must haves’ in their purist considerations of a candidate. In the end we may have nothing, just like in 2008.

  213. Knighthawk says:

    215. I can’t reveal my secrets at this time.

  214. hellbelly says:

….and, having thrown those bombs into tonights discussion, I’m going to bed.

(although you have to admit, its more fun to tell Hellbelly that he’s nuts than to argue who is gay and who isn’t).

    Night all.

  215. jason says:

” But, given the current crop of candidates, I’d really like him to be the next president.”

I think he might make a good president.

    But he can’t win.

  216. jan says:

wes, that was #208, rather than #218 in my reference.

  217. Emerica says:

I think Newt is a professional con artist (professional politician.)

  218. Knighthawk says:

    217. Personally i think his temperament is way better suited to VP then P.

  219. Knighthawk says:

    226. Don’t you think just about the same of anyone not having the last name Paul?

  220. Wes says:

All humans have flaws. Gingrich’s are disqualifying though. The family values crowd? Sayonara. Fiscal conservatives? Uh-uh. Pretty much anyone outside the South? Hasta la bye bye. Gingrich would be a horrible candidate, and his actions over the past decade have not in any way indicated a conservative bent on his part.

  221. jason says:

” (although you have to admit, its more fun to tell Hellbelly that he’s nuts than to argue who is gay and who isn’t).”

I hate it when people overestimate my threshold for inane subjects.

  222. addisonst says:

Was kasich that ham handed? I thought his upside was higher than walkers

  223. hellbelly says:

Wes…..I’m as social conservative as they come and I trust Newt on those issues way more than I trust Mitt.

    Just saying.

  224. jason says:

One of the biggest porkers in Congress passing himself off as a fiscal conservative and a Republican.

    That’s a con man.

  225. SUSYQUE says:

#194…I worship at a catholic church.
What I posted are his words. Since 9/11
our nation and culture has changed. We are no longer rich, safe and secure. Anyone who reads the Bible knows that you cannot murder 50 million innocent babies and not suffer the consequences both financially and socially. I could say more, but I don’t think most people realize how vulnerable we are as a nation. Look what ooo has accomplished in less then 3 years. Most people are busy being entertained. The USA “titanic” has hit an iceberg and we are sinking.
Election 2012 is our last chance to stop
the bankruptcy of our country. I respect the people on this blog who are serious and what to do all they can to
    win the next election.

    (night all – again)

  227. Bitterlaw says:

lisab – YOUR BEST POST EVER!

  228. Wes says:

Agreed, Jan. Demanding too much at once can often lead to gaining nothing. As Thomas Sowell once, “If you get 90% of what you want, be careful about demanding the other 10%.” Actually that may not be the exact quote, but the wording was similar.

  229. Bitterlaw says:

Can we change SUSYQUE to SUSYPHELPS now?

  230. lisab says:

“I worship at a catholic church.” Susyque

we’d appreciate it if you did not publicize that

  231. Wes says:

So you trust a guy who cheated on back-to-back wives with severe illnesses more than a man apparently completely faithful to his wife, Hellbelly? All right.

  232. addisonst says:

Susy is either a plant or a whacko. She should be banned. She is not the face of the party

  233. Emerica says:

Pretty much although Herman Cain isn’t one.

  234. Wes says:

Susy has always been a bit odd. When posting as Hello Dolly, she used to obsess over how Obama was going to turn the US into an Islamic theocracy.

  235. jason says:

” I respect the people on this blog who are serious”

    Can you name names?

Let’s see who gets outed as serious by susyque…

Worried about Ohio? Check out this article from the Weekly Standard:

As it points out, Ohio was lost this past week because of white working class voters and Republicans not listenting to them. So if we want to win these white working class voters, as we did 63-36 in 2010, should we nominate Mitt Romney? As I’ve heard it said about Mitt, “He reminds you of that CEO who laid you off”.

Yeah, I know all of the one-year-out polls say that Romney is our strongest candidate. Arguably, though, that may be because Romney is our best known candidate, and because the others have been in the midst of some minor crises.

Senior officials have taken unusual steps to secure the contract for New York-based Siga Technologies Inc., whose controlling shareholder is billionaire Ronald O. Perelman, one of the world’s richest men and a longtime Democratic Party donor.

The five reasons I asserted that Governor Perry would have the best shot at beating Obama were simple ones: He decisively created more jobs than Obama. He greatly respects and tries to encourage small businesses. He has a clear understanding of federalism and what states shouldn’t be forced into. He has solid core convictions that replicate most of America. And he could unite the core conservative democrat, republican and independent across the nation on economic, social, and defense policy.

All five of those reasons, remain–even now–solidly relevant and valid.

However, he’s certainly no where near where I thought he’d be by now. But before all the pundits completely write him off, let me proffer the four things he’s got to do to get back in the game.
Remain humble, human, and likable: Self deprecating humor worked amazingly well for President Bush. Everyone watching politics at present (which is very few compared to the votes to be cast next year) already dislikes the fact that Mitt Romney is stiff and unflinching. Americans also don’t mind a candidate being flawed. Hey… the nation elected Bill Clinton, twice

  307. LaZebra says:

I’m not saying that Romney cannot win the white working class voters. He can. And the other side of the Ohio story is that these same voters who voted against Kasich — they even more overwhelmingly voted against Obama and his health care mandate.

My point, and the point of the article, is that — despite the polls — we should sometimes look at the “positioning” of the candidate. The positioning of Mitt Romney is that he looks and acts like “that CEO who laid you off”. In 2008, Romney performed very poorly with white working class voters, beaten among them badly by McCain and Huckabee. It’s looking more and more like Ohio will be a must-win state for our side, and maybe Wisconsin too. Can Wall Street Mitt win these states? Maybe, but maybe not.

I thought the PPP poll out of Ohio this past week was very revealing: Cain 34, Newt 20, Romney 19. He’s in THIRD place in Ohio! Something about Mitt does not play well in the Buckeye State. Could it be his Wall Street/CEO image? Or maybe it was his flip-flopping on helping Kasich that reminded Ohio votes that he’s the 2012 version of John Kerry.

  322. SoThisIsHopeAndChange? says:

My disagreement with the tenents of Mormonism are what they are. They have the right to believe what they want…as do I.

Freedom of religion means having the right to believe your faith is right and others aren’t as much (especially when they directly conflict with your). This is not bigotry, hatred, intolerance, ect.

I don’t come on here trying to convert anyone. When I speak out on my religion it is because of the bigot police are rounding up “bigots” for cyber lynching based on the comments of 1 or 2 tastless “evangelicals” (fyi SSQ is catholic).

My only concern with Romney’s religion was and still partly is that is would cause him electoral issues (i.e. 20-28% of voters of every demographic say they would never vote for a mormon). I posted a comment a while back that it is widely accepted by the general public that Mormons aren’t mainstream Christian. I know that obama proxies will go after “Jesus & Satan are brothers”, magic underwear”, “heaven for women is being eternally pregenant”, “planets for good mormons”, “Mormon church post-humously baptizing holocaust Jews into the Mormon church”, ect. I would feel the same way about a toungue speaking, pentacostal or any other “evangelical” that has peculiar beliefs that are easily made into an electable liability.

I tend to think that Romney is the best that is running because the others are either stupid or unelectable or both.

  323. Marv says:

I think Gov Perry starts his comeback tonight. Discuss.

  324. SoThisIsHopeAndChange? says:

Marv, I could see that happening if Romney onverted to Scientology, Cain was outed Sandusky’s wingman, Gingrich became as stoner, MB wrote a book on how a good wife should submit to her husband, Ron Paul revealed that he is actually really from another planet, Santorum came out of the closet, and Huntsman….well…you don’t have to worry about Huntsman

  325. Diogenes says:

These states are bad because the governors are unpopular. Rick Scott and Kasich are fairing badly.

  327. SUSYQUE says:

If you consider SusyQue “odd” or “weird”
or “peculiar” it is because she has a different world view than you do. She gets her knowledge of the world from the Bible. There are two spiritual Kingdoms, One is called “The Kingdom of Darkness ruled by Satan. The other is called “The Kingdom of God’s dear Son and is ruled by Jesus.” All true born-again Christians live in the Kingdom of God’s dear Son. We view and think differently. It is a clash between good and evil. The battle has been raging since God created Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. It is no fairly tale.

    Tim V

I have. Two things I’ve posted have not shown up.

  334. jan says:

Here’s an interesting piece from Charles Cook:

Moreover, OWS is discovering that it is by no means inured against the sort of political and economic problems that face all polities, utopian or not. A fistfight broke out yesterday on the testy northeastern side of the camp, when one protester fashioned and displayed a cardboard sign that read, “Food is for OWS only!” This, said some of those camped nearby, was “fascism.” “No, no,” came the rejoinder, “it’s only fair! We paid for it; it’s for us! You can’t just walk in and take our stuff!” And thus, in microcosm, the debate over welfare raised its head — as it always will.

    OWS starts to crumble

  335. lisab says:

“Freedom of religion means having the right to believe your faith is right and others aren’t as much (especially when they directly conflict with your). This is not bigotry, hatred, intolerance, ect.”

no one says you don’t have the right to be a bigot, you are, and we pointed it out.

  336. lisab says:

“Jesus & Satan are brothers”, magic underwear”, “heaven for women is being eternally pregenant”, “planets for good mormons” etc.

evangelicals speak in tongues, think the world is 6,000 years old and even dance with snakes!

  339. addisonst says:

  345. Mittmentum2012 says:

He’d be a great POTUS Bitterlaw

He freezes under stress and/or pressure

    Why would that concern anyone?

  346. J T says:

The voters did not care that Obama was a Muslim who was the member of Racist Church.

the voters will not care about Romney being a mormon either.

    “It’s the Economy MOFO!!”

  347. lisab says:

“I have to say lisab is 10x the judgmental “bigot” that SSQ is.”

so it is ok to make remarks about mormons, but not about evangelicals?

“just being honest about my personal beliefs” is no excuse. in your case, honesty is clearly the downfall of civilization … civility, propriety, and manners are its redeemers

if you don’t want your bigotry to be thrown in your face, be respectful of others.

  402. mnw says:

“Longhorns stomp Tigers on road today!” sez Marv.

His football predictions are as good as his political predictions, apparently. (How good is that?)

  403. Mittmentum2012 says:

5 points for the “Men of Horn” today, mnw

Have you heard Pujols may go to the Marlins?

  404. Corey says:

    Mitt shuts down the moderator!

    Damn CBS liberal conspirators

  405. Emerica says:

John Huntsman reminds me of Gary Johnson.

  406. Rockefeller Republican says:

Mitt again is winning another debate. ZZZZZ

  407. Emerica says:

Herman Cain says he will trust the military leaders at abu ghraib to decide what is appropriate.

  408. Emerica says:

Perry is saying that Russia ended up on the “Ash heap” of history for converting away from communism.

  409. phoenixrisen says:

#423 — Disagree. Gingrich and Perry have been the strongest thus far. Romney has been good though.

#425 — Nice twisting of words there Bunu.

  410. Waingro says:

I HIGHLY suggest the Romney campaign continue to emphasize this attack on China.

It will be popular in the General, and he is very eloquent and commonsensical on this topic.

  411. Emerica says:

    That’s exactly what Perry said.

Perry was mocking Putin and the Russia for the fall of the Soviet Union saying that this caused them to become part of the “Ash Heap” of history.

  412. Emerica says:

Perry was using the analogy for China implying that communism would fall there, and they would also become an Ash Heap.

  413. Corey says:

Demint and Graham are now asking questions for the online portion.

There will be a special question from former SC Governor Mark Sanford on U.S. relations with Argentina.

  414. Mittmentum2012 says:

    I’m watching the LSU game

    Hows the debate going?

  415. hellbelly says:

…..I’ve been saying for a long time now: 2012 will be the wildest year in presidential politics since 1968….everything (I mean EVERYTHING) we think is settled on now will be overturned by March of 2012 (by that I mean don’t count out new GOPers enterring the race).

I could be wrong, no doubt.

But, if no one new enters the race in early 2012, Newt will be the GOP candidate for President.

  416. Mittmentum2012 says:

My cat will be the nominee before Newt Gingrich will

  417. Mittmentum2012 says:

    A thrice married adulterous scumbag?

    That’s what evangelicals want?

    I think not…

  418. hellbelly says:

    re: 434

    Thanks….that’s insightful.

  419. hellbelly says:

I used to come here for really good debate/commentary on politics.

Way too many fools for me to stick around.

I’ll look for another site where there aren’t so many buffooons.

  420. Corey says:

    hellbelly, keep hope alive, lol.

  421. Mittmentum2012 says:

Do you REALLY think a guy with zero money, who took $$$$’s from Fannie Mae, who deserted not one but TWO desperately ill spouses is going to win this nomination?

A fan of Nancy Pelosi and a guy in favor of mandates long before Mitt?

The guy who famously said, when asked about his disgusting behavior, “It doesn’t matter what I do.”

You think THAT is going to be the nominee

  422. Mittmentum2012 says:

    Look in the mirror

    My God!

    Newt Gingrich?

  423. Corey says:

Internet feed is jumping all over the place… but Perry just took on Ron Paul over terrorism in quite a self-rigtheous way.

It was Perry’s finest moment in this campaign, and he ought to leave now while he can do so on a high note.

  424. Mittmentum2012 says:

    How is Mitt doing, Corey?

  425. Corey says:

    Mittastic as usual.

Nobody is watching any of this though except political junkies and people drunk enough to think they were watching an SEC football game on CBS.

  426. hellbelly says:

Dave – I’ve been here since before the 2004 election. I’ve tried to treat everyone here with respect (aside from Fat Teddy), even when I don’t agree. The quality of the commentary has just degenerated to the point where I am not wasting my time anymore.

A good political debate isn’t “you’re an idiot”…..”no….you’re an idiot”…..”so and so is gay”….”no, so and so isn’t gay”.

    Not worth my time.

  427. Mittmentum2012 says:

Looks like LSU won’t cover the spread, only up 21-7, they look like they’re in a coma

  428. Corey says:

Dave isn’t home, but hang in there hellbelly, not all of us are mean.

You can have your nutty Gingrich theories if you want! : )

  429. Mittmentum2012 says:

I like the way Hellbelly thinks more people will enter the GOP race without realizing the filing deadlines have passed for numerous states

I guess its the Sarah Palin delusion again…

  430. Mittmentum2012 says:

Then make some cogent intelligent political points

Gingrich has literally no money or organization

His background is awful and his favorability ratings are TERRIBLE

Tell me how this guy gets nominated?

All of this nonsense comes down to wishful thinking and “I don’t want me no Mormon”

  431. Knighthawk says:

431 – Don’t bother there steam is all f_cked up!

  432. hellbelly says:

    Just one parting shot:

Mittmentum2012 may be the dumbest political debater on the planet and if he/she isn’t a Democratic plant, I sure hope he/she is a 15 year old virgin sitting in their parent’s basement hoping (just once!) to convince someone to kiss them.

  433. Bitterlaw says:

What channel is this debate on?

  434. Emerica says:

Herman Cain just said Israel has nuclear weapons.

That’s something that not even Barack Obama will say.

  435. Corey says:

Mitt keeps listing things by number and then naming all of them.

    What a show-off.

  436. Corey says:

It was on CBS for an hour Bitterlaw, but now is just on the internet.

They have relaxed the language and nudity rules for the last half hour.

Gingrich is not a pretty sight right now.

  437. Mittmentum2012 says:

    F^ck you Hellbelly

Tell me how somebody is going to enter the race now when the filing deadlines have passed

Since you want intelligent political commentary maybe you could address that issue with us

  438. Knighthawk says:

    451. seems only locally in SC, most cbs affiliates cut away and the internet stream is unwatchable.

  439. Wes says:

    Is Mittmebntum2012 MFG?

  440. hellbelly says:

    see you Mittmentum2012.

You bore me and most other folks who have a brain.

  441. Wes says:

  442. Corey says:

I love it when people are drunk on here.

  443. Knighthawk says:

452 – One is telling you the truth though.

  444. LA Cajun says:

Helly- it’s looking more and more like you may be right. Romney just isn’t catching on despite the fact that the HHR faithful and the GOP insiders keep pushing him as the only one who can beat BHO. Unfortunately 75%+ of the party isn’ buying it and are rejecting Mitt. It will be very interesting.

  445. Corey says:

CBS has no idea how to run a debate!

    It’s mercifully over.

They call CBS the “Tiffany Network.” Gingrich thinks he owes them money.

  446. Wes says:

Isn’t it amazing how the indisputable fact that Herman Newtperry will inevitably defeat Romney has no corroborating evidence besides the invariable “Mitt can’t top 25%” argument?

  447. Corey says:

I am still accepting any wagers from those who wish to bet me that Romney will not be the nominee.

    (For charity of course)

  448. Mittmentum2012 says:

    Words to live by!

Doesn’t it just make you so proud of him?

“It doesn’t matter what I do,” he answered. “People need to hear what I have to say. There’s no one else who can say what I can say. It doesn’t matter what I live.”

  449. hellbelly says:

    LA Cajun,

I’m not sold on Newt. As anyone who has read (and tried to understand) my posts will see, I’ve been saying that this race is going to be subject to more ups and downs than any since 1968. Mittmentum2012 can’t seem to fathom this. This race is going to wide open since I don’t believe anyone in the field right now can win the nomination on the first ballot if a new candidate emerges.

But…..if I’m wrong (and Lord knows, I’ve been saying all along that I can be wrong) and no one else enters the race….Newt will be the nominee.

  450. Mittmentum2012 says:

All wishful thinking based on “I dont want me no Mormon”

  451. hellbelly says:

…and Newt is by far, the best candidate of the current crew.

  452. Corey says:

Nomination contest is over after Jan 31.

    Romney vs. Obama

    Book it

  453. Mittmentum2012 says:

    Dear God…

  454. hellbelly says:

    re: 468

you’re exactly right. Why even argue? Even if I’m the only person here who has actually voted for Mitt.

  455. Corey says:

Not only will Newt not win a single state, he will not come in second place in a single state.

  456. Wes says:

    1) It’s too late for anyone else to enter the race. (Those filing deadlines can be a bitch.)

    2) Gingrich has as much chance as I of being the GOP nominee.

  457. Corey says:

I have voted for Mitt to be President of the United States.

  458. Mittmentum2012 says:

How do you think having three wives, two of whom he deserted while they were desperately ill will play out?

What’s your best guess on that?

  459. Wes says:

Can we get MD to come back and post his sources about how Newt has seriously gone left over the past decade?

  460. Mittmentum2012 says:

Also, he has no money or organization and in fact owes more money than he has cash on hand

    He will win?

  461. Mittmentum2012 says:

    Its the Palin delusion

Do you know there are actually some lunatics who want Palin to get in now?

  462. Emerica says:

It’s interesting that Romney is now favored to win the Iowa Caucus on Intrade, and if he wins that he will almost surely win NH.

I’m wondering when the other candidates would drop out then because whoever stays in way past when the media and pundits want them to drop out can inherit the anti-Romney base. Certainly Paul will stay in, but I wonder how long some of these others will wait it out.

  463. Bitterlaw says:

I do not believe that hellbelly’s objections to Romney have anything to do with Mormonism. Absolutely not. I don;t like hellbelly’s choice of sports teams and why anybody would move to Boston is beyond me but fair is fair. I think he’s wrong about Newt but he is not a bigot.

  464. Corey says:

Newt keeps talking up Mitt (and some of the others in the debate.)

He knows he is not going to be nominated. He doesn’t want to be nominated. He is doing this campaign to say he did.

Three days a week, he is still at home with Calista watching Deadliest Catch.

  465. hellbelly says:

Gee…you Mitt guys sure seem awfully nervous.

    Nervous folks use disdain and

    Later, nervous folks.

  466. Wes says:

Don’t forget Newt left his first and second wife both for the women he was having affairs with. On policy, Gingrich is a global warming nut who “found common ground” with Jesse Jackson and advocated a public option. Just the kind of guy the GOP wants to be the presidential standardbearer.

  467. Mittmentum2012 says:

    Ah, bullsh*t

99% of this is “I don’t want me no Mormon”

  468. Corey says:

I’m not nervous at all. I am begging for people over the internet to gamble with me on it.

    (For charity of course)

  469. Mittmentum2012 says:

F^cking his chemistry teacher when he was 17 years old

    Family values par excellance…

  470. Bitterlaw says:

I defended hellbelly. What have I done?

  471. Emerica says:

    Limbaugh blasts Limbaugh’s candidacy.

  472. Marv says:

    Hello folks,

    Nice debate.

  473. Mittmentum2012 says:

Yeah I’m scared to death Hellbelly

I’m scared to death Mitt will die laughing as he surveys this field…

  474. Wes says:

Gingrich is the last person Mitt would need to be worried about in this nominatiin process.

  475. Emerica says:

    err Gingrich’s candiacy

  476. Corey says:

I actually do think it is possible for a Republican to be extremely anti-Romney for reasons that do not have to do with anti-Mormon bigotry.

However, it would then almost certainly be a case of jealousy over Romney for being a good looking rich man, with perfect hair,a beautiful wife, and great kids.

    He is just too “perfect.”

  477. Corey says:

Newt’s first wife was his math teacher.

She wasn’t hot either. Not that it should matter.

  478. Emerica says:

idk anything about this chemistry teacher thing. Gingrich did that in high school?

  479. Wes says:

Um, Corey, do you want to tell us something? 494 came dangerously close to limpwristed territory.

  480. Mittmentum2012 says:

The same people who sh*t their pants over Mitt support Newt Gingrich a guy who is utter vermin both personally & politically

Translation: “I dont want me no Mormon”

  481. Corey says:

You should be thrilled! Perry was improved tonight!

Only a couple minor flubs (“forewithall”) and some tentativeness, but I liked the way he kept looking at Mitt and bringing up his name as if he were a buddy randomly.

  482. Corey says:

Hey Wes, I also said his wife was beautiful.

But there is nothing wrong with having a man-crush on Mitt. His hair is perfect. I can admit it.

Perry even said on Letterman that Mitt was “one handsome dude.”

  483. Wes says:

You know, I’ve never said a guy’s handsome in my life. I would feel weird making such an observation.

  484. Corey says:

I don’t think I’ve ever said it aloud, but the internet is about freedom!

  485. Knighthawk says:

    485 – What a crock of sh1t.

  486. Wes says:

To each his own, Corey. I’ll continue to avoid commenting on the aesthetics of my fellow males both on the ‘net and off.

  487. Emerica says:

    Romney lacks tiger blood though.

  488. Corey says:

    506. Romney #winning

  489. Bitterlaw says:

Wes – some men are handsome. So what? If I said “that’s a beautiful horse,” that doesn’t mean I want to have sex with it.

  490. phoenixrisen says:

IMHO, I thought Perry was the strongest tonight with Gingrich and Romney following. Reason being is he had some strong and simple answers to questions, particularly early in the debate. The rest were ugly. The biggest loser was Cain. He was not good tonight.

  491. Wes says:

It just sounds creepy when guys say it, Bitter.

  492. Corey says:

If someone is secure, there is no reason why they would be unable (even if just internally ) to recognize aesthetic traits in a variety of things.

Bitter, you need to grow your hair out some more though.

  493. Emerica says:

    Another possibility.

Romney wins Iowa, but Paul takes second.

Paul is stronger in NH than Iowa so if he takes second in Iowa, he could again take second twice. He’s been polling stronger in S.C. lately so he could get second there as well.

Not that that gets him the nomination, but it would be better for nothing going into the rest of the 50 states.

  494. Bitterlaw says:

I liked women in the 19080 and 1990s. The ycould be sexy with flesh on their bodies as opposed to rock-hard, super skinny muscle chicks now. Maybe I’ll watch the Van Halen video again.

  495. Corey says:

Do guys compliment each other at that gym?

    I don’t know. I don’t go to the gym.

  496. Mittmentum2012 says:

Every candidate has EQUAL or WORSE offenses against conservatism as Mitt

    I say again

“I dont want me no Mormon” is whats going on here

  497. Bitterlaw says:

It just sounds creepy when guys say it, Bitter.

    Comment by Wes — November 12, 2011 @ 9:52 pm

How many guys say it to you, Wes? Where do you hang out?

  498. Corey says:

I kind of hurt to encourage bunu, but I think Paul might wind up finishing in second place a bunch of places…

He won’t win any though. It’s just the rest are so weak.

  499. Tim says:

    Please tell me you’re kidding……..

  500. Mittmentum2012 says:

Maybe your guy will move into the anti-Mitt slot soon

  501. Mittmentum2012 says:

    No Tim

Look at Ian Lazaran on Twitter

  502. Bitterlaw says:

Corey – you can never be nice to Bunu. Never.

  503. Mittmentum2012 says:

    514 Corey

    Definitely not

  504. Corey says:

The brokered convention is going to turn to Sarah Palin and she will win in a landslide.

Conservatism wins everywhere it is on the ballot.

And at least with Sarah, she would never zone out on an easy question like Perry did the other night. She would have had the three agencies written on her hand.

  505. Wes says:

To my knowledge, no guy’s ever said it to me, Bitter. If one did, I’d thank him politely–then hobble like Hell away from him.

  506. Emerica says:

I like the rowing machine at the GYM when I’m bored of running. Helps burn some calories and keeps my blood pressure low so I don’t end up with a stroke in 30 years.

  507. Corey says:

The three times in my life I have been hit on by a guy, they were Asian. I don’t know what that means.

  508. Tim says:

The last guy that hit on me looked like Mr. Clean. Now, that is scary…….

  509. Bitterlaw says:

Maybe your guy will move into the anti-Mitt slot soon

    Comment by Mittmentum2012 — November 12, 2011 @ 9:54 pm

It can’t be that big a step from hating Jews to hating Mormons.

  510. Emerica says:

Paul got a close second in Maryland and also Washington and Alaska last time.

Nevada we would have won had Lowden not cheated. There is a decent chance we can win some of these states just by organization again.

  511. Emerica says:

Might have been some other states as well that I can’t remember.

  512. Corey says:

    Tim, was he wearing leather?

  513. Emerica says:

Montana is another one we could win depending.

  514. Emerica says:

    Maybe North Dakota,

  515. Mittmentum2012 says:

Acroso you guys need to start running Rand for POTUS in the future

  516. SoThisIsHopeAndChange says:

Bunu, how many delegates does Delta Vega, Vulcan, and Xenu have? Paul should sweep all 3!

  517. SoThisIsHopeAndChange says:

The Paul delegation at the GOP convention will look like the canteena scene from Star Wars!

  518. Emerica says:

I know Herman Cain admittedly loves his yellow tie, but does he have to wear it for every event, every debate, every interview, every appearance?

I’ve never seem him wear anything but his yellow tie.

  519. Emerica says:

Video: Robert Stacy McCain blogs outside the S.C. debate.

This family of Cainiacs was doing a standout by the entrance to Wofford College, surrounded by about 50 screaming Ron Paul fanatics. I’ve got video of the Paulistas and will upload shortly.

  520. Tim says:

No, a flannel shirt and jeans. And, he was drunk.

Now, please tell me that none of the Aisans were wearing leather. I’m not sure I want a visual of that….

  521. Tim says:

    Asians, that is

  522. Corey says:

Ha ha no. It was like just at malls or something.

  523. Rockefeller Republican says:

What the hell are GOP voters thinking in these polls??? They still perefer Cain?? The Newt???!! Are they nuts? Do they want Obama for another 4? Romney is the only viable candidate and most qulaified. Cain has no qualifications and Newt is loathed. There is no hero riding on a white horse for GOP voters – so wake up!

  524. LaZebra says:

Get OFF the anti-Mormon thing! There are a hundred-and-one reasons to be anti-Romney! Start with the fact that he’s the GOP version of John Kerry. In fact he’s flip-flopped more than Kerry! Watch this 2004 commercial and try to imagine Obama doing the same thing to Romney next summer:

This ad was used to devastating effect against Kerry, and the same kind of ad will devastate Mitt Romney.

Secondly, think about those Midwest states we need to win — Wisconsin, Iowa, Michigan, and especially Ohio. They are states filled with white working class voters. We need to win at least 60% of them to win. Will they really vote for Wall Street CEO Mitt Romney? Maybe, but it’s not crazy to think they’re not going to trust him. As one has said, “Mitt Romney reminds them of that CEO who laid them off.”

Neither of these huge reasons has anything to with Mormonism.

  525. Marv says:

I think Gov Perry did pretty well tonight. Perhaps he’ll gain some traction now. He certainly has feel better about his performance.
I think Newt did well too. Cain…..not so much, that seems to be the general view on some of the other blogs too.

  526. mnw says:

The only people on earth who watched that silly thing are right here. A couple thousand people saw it. Game changer? I don’t THINK so!

  527. lisab says:

“Secondly, think about those Midwest states we need to win — Wisconsin, Iowa, Michigan, and especially Ohio. They are states filled with white working class voters. We need to win at least 60% of them to win. Will they really vote for Wall Street CEO Mitt Romney? ”

    romney is from michigan

    his father was governor

  528. mnw says:

Marv sez, “I think Perry did well tonight…”

Marv sez, “Longhorns stomp Tigers on the road today!”

    Delusional thinking. A pity, really.

    RE: Pujols & Marlins:

Why in the name of our dear Lord & Savior Crist (Charlie; I do not blaspheme) would Pujols want to leave a team that goes to the post-season all the time for the freakin’ Marlins? So Pujols can play in front of oceans of empty seats every nite?

Makes no sense. So… it’ll probably happen.

  529. *They are states filled with white working class voters.*

You are referring to me. It is true that my male counterparts and I will vote for just about anyone other than Obama. Our wives, and especially our ex-wives are a different story.

  530. Mittmentum2012 says:

    I dunno mnw

    I report, you decide…

  531. Tim V says:

Perry had a strong debate performance,FINALLY ! MFG (Mittmentum), you are an embarrasment to this blog.Dave, seriously, this guy is harming HHR.

  532. Mittmentum2012 says:

The truth sometimes hurts but its true nevertheless…

  533. lisab says:

    if history is any indication,

obama would probably destroy perry in the debates

not only would the press bury him, which would be true of any gop candidate, he would almost certainly do poorly.

it would be worse than reagan-mondale2

  534. Bitterlaw says:

If Mitt beats Obama, the anti-Romney people will say it proved ABO.

If Perry/any other anti-Mitt loses to Obama, the anti-Romneys will say that nobody could beat Obama.

  535. jason says:

    555. That’s absolutely true. There is no discussion.

  536. jason says:

” I think Gov Perry did pretty well tonight”

At this point if he remembers the day of the debate it’s probably considered “doing well”.

The standard for Perry is now so low that he probably will “do well” all the time.

  537. GA Voter says:

People say Romney does well in the debates, but what about his stuttering? He seems to get anxious at times and it becomes apparent. It would remind me of the Kennedy/Nixon televised debate that was a disaster.

  538. jason says:

” Neither of these huge reasons has anything to with Mormonism.”

So why do you keep bringing it up?

  539. Bitterlaw says:

How many Reagan Democrats exist? Many have to be in their 70s and 80s now clutching their Medicare and AARP cards.

  540. lisab says:

“People say Romney does well in the debates, but what about his stuttering?”

    as opposed to obama?!

    or perry’s “ooops”

    or cain’s uzbekistan gaffe?

  541. lisab says:

lazebra’s comment where he askedif you can imagine someone from michgan voting for romney is most revealing

  542. GF says:

555- BL, we ought to exhume Reagan’s corpse and run it in lieu of this field. “A better leader dead than any man alive.” Credit goes to The Onion for that line, however.

  543. lisab says:

    cows have regional accents

“They have one word in their vocabulary and it’s a single syllable at that.

But farmers claim cows appear to ‘moo’ in regional accents, despite their limited conversational skills.

Herds in the West Country have been heard lowing with a distinctive Somerset twang – prompting some to claim the sound is more ‘moo-arr’ than moo.

Brummie accents have been noticed in the Midlands, while Geordie tones abound in Tyne and Wear and there are overtones of Estuary English around the South East.”

  544. GF says:

Looks like I hit the tail end of the thread. See you all tomorrow.

  545. LaZebra says:

So why do you keep bringing it up?
    Comment by jason — November 12, 2011 @ 11:51 pm

Why do IIIIIIII keep bringing it up? C’mon Jason, did you seriously not see Mittmentum’s repeated posts, “I don’t want me no Mormon” (see 448, 468, 485, 498, and 515)? I was answering his stupid posts.

This is exactly the SAME strategy the liberals use with Obama. If you are against Obama, you are an anti-black racist. Now, on this board, if you are against Romney, your are an anti-Mormon bigot.

    Speaking of bigots, Lisab said:
562–lazebra’s comment where he askedif you can imagine someone from michgan voting for romney is most revealing

Revealing of what, Lisab dear? It only reveals that I simply forgot about Mitt’s connection with Michigan. Yes, he would do better in that state than any other Republican — and I’ve said that in the past on HHR. But it won’t matter much if all of the Ohio and Wisconsin white working class voters look at Wall Street Romney and they see that CEO who once laid them off.

  546. Diogenes says:

I think LaZebra has a point. However, there is no better candidate at the moment. Jeb, Daniels, and Christie all sat out.

I think Romney understands his need to expand his coalition which is why he has attacked China’s currency manipulation (which a lot of free-trading conservatives don’t agree with).

I think that the corporatism is only a liability in Ohio. Kasich really needs to undo some of the damage he’s done. In Wisconsin, I think Walker has done a very good job and when the economy recovery picks up (from anemic to somewhat anemic), Wisconsin will compare so favorably to its neighbors, that Walker and by extension the GOP presidential candidate will benefit.

it reveals that your objection to romney has othing to do with the midwest …

romney is BY FAR the most electible candidate in the midwest.

not four hours ago you said having a candidate that can win the midwest states was important … romney is from the midwest

his father was governor of michigan, a state YOU said was critical to the gop

but now when it is pointed out to you he is from there, that his family is well respected there

    suddenly it is not important

as you said … it would be great PR for mormons if he wins the nomination.

    that is your ONLY concern.

people are wrong to have a high pinion of you.

  548. lisab says:

and you guys wonder why people like me don’t like the republican party

i will crawl through broken glass to vote against perry and the people he represents

  549. LaZebra says:

569– You, my dear Lisa, are a liar.
YOUR only concern is bashing Christians.

Let me ask you, what is it in you that makes it such a thrill to fight with people here? You never ever say anything nice to anyone. It’s always attack, attack, attack. You don’t know how to “let sleeping dogs lie”.

Don’t know if you’ve noticed, but even those who sometimes agree with you (ie, Jason), even he thinks you’re a witch. He’s said he thinks you’ve castrated your poor husband. I don’t know about that, but Jason and I are in total agreement that we are thankful to whomever is up in the Sky that we are not married to you! You are impossible!

(For the record, I actually DID try to be nice to you — trying to engage you in conversation about statistics. But soon it was back to your anti-Christian hate speech.)

  550. lisab says:

“For the record, I actually DID try to be nice to you ”

yeah sure, until you decide catholics don’t meet your standards of christianity.

michigan was important, until it wasn’t

  551. lisab says:

“Jason and I are in total agreement that we are thankful to whomever is up in the Sky that we are not married to you! ”

oh but why? cause i’m bitchy? god has no love for the bitchy?

shoot, every girl wants to be married to a bigot

  552. lisab says:

“But soon it was back to your anti-Christian hate speech.”

yeah, pointing out our hypocrisy is anti-christian

    oh wait …

    i am a christian … uh oh
