Following up on the US Senate polls yesterday, Scott Rasmussen gives us polls from Arizona and Florida showing Romney and Santorum about equal on electability in Florida, but Romney much more electable in Arizona.

The problem in Florida is that we are ripe to get good Jewish support. Or let me say we were. Unfortunately, Rick Santorum represents all non-orthodox Jews dislike about republicans. They are dismayed, and I know this from talking with my Jewish friends that republican can be seriously supporting Santorum. So, what would be a very natural group to vote for Romney is now swinging back to Obama as a repudiation of our party. I still think based on what I see in Broward that Romney wins by more than Bush did in 2004.
Yeah the wreck of Santorum is unfortunately getting onto Romney. His radical and anti women agenda has become a negative for the Republican Party and other candidates. Plus the likes of Rush and these fundamentalist GOP legislatures in the states that jump at any and every opportunity to degrade women.

I’m don’t agree with her entire analysis. However, I do think that Romney would do well sticking to economic issues, especially job creation. He should also be less thin-skinned and irritable during tedious interviews, as difficult as that might be for anyone.
I agree with hugh. My wife’s family might vote for Romney. They will run to the polls to vote against Santorum.
Romney also has ties with Bibi, knowing him back in the days of working for a Boston firm. This earlier relationship with the current leader of Israel is a big positive, IMO, in attracting the jewish vote to him.

Given the incredible negativity in the GOP race, I don’t find this surprising at all. Independents are not turning away from any specific candidate so much as they are turning away from the Republican party. Santorum is the exact worst candidate to win independents, and Romney is being forced out of his winning economic message by ideological debates over who is “more conservative.”

Mitt trailing in Florida is very disappointing, but not surprising. This confirms the polling showing Obama leading nationally. If Mitt really ever led a national poll, he would have a lead in Florida.
Numbers like these continue to show the difficulties Republicans face in the electoral college. In order to win, Mitt must win Florida and at least six other states McCain didn’t win in 2008. Right now, only Indiana seems to be confidently in the Republican column.
Whoever is the nominee will essentially have to pull an inside straight to win if there is no major intervening event.
I think we need to stop saying Independents will turn away from the GOP. I do not believe that will happen. Few people in this country want ooo to have another term because they are feeling the disaster of his failed policies. Once we get our

Robbie, most of the national polls I am seeing show Romney tied or a bit ahead of Obama.
There is a long way to go until the election obviously, btu he is in better shape now than most recent Presidential winners have been, especially those who ran against incumbents.

Here are the last 8 national polls. Five have Obama ahead with two showing double digit leads. On shows the race tied. Two show Romney narrow leads. That’s hardly the way you described it. Even the CBS poll showing Obama’s approval at 41% still has Obama winning by 3%.

Child pornography should absolutely be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
