Tuesday Monring Thread

As a life-long Washington Capitals fan who has seen many a playoff disappointment, last night may have been the most demoralizing end to a hockey game I have ever seen, including the three-overtime loss that I attended last week. I guess my life-long dream of watching the Stanley Cup carried down Constitution Avenue may have to wait yet another year….

Be prepared for these new polls from Public Policy Polling for the states of Iowa and Ohio, at least according to the glee on their Twitter page last night.

Going to have President numbers in Iowa and Ohio tomorrow…Obama looking pretty good in both.

Will be back as the polls come out….

PPP is a joke. Of course, Obama is going to look healthy in a PPP poll.

  3. AuthorLMendez, Liberterian For Romney says:

PPP claiming Obama is gonna be up big in 2 states where it’s been shown otherwise? color me shocked

  4. MD says:

He will have Obama up 9 in IA and 7 in OH. Just a guess. This is the normal Tommy J activity of trying to shape an agenda instead of just being factual. His final 2 polls will revert to reality. Yawn.

  5. AuthorLMendez, Liberterian For Romney Channeling HHR Crystal Ball Hack says:

hey guys why you hating on PPP? so if they show Obama up big in OH & IA? it’s true! PPP is the gold standard. stop apying attention to the fact IA’s last polling showed Mitt ahead or that OH’s last polling had Obama w/in the MOE. PPP tells us where the election is gonna end up like. Stop being GOP hacks!

  6. AuthorLMendez, Liberterian For Romney says:

I say Obama up 7-10 in OH & up 10-13 in IA according to little Tommy. I guess he’s trying to feel better because he still keeps crying over the marriage amendment…

  7. MD says:

You are right Author. I was having that very discussion with Senator Marshall and Governor White. We all had a good laugh.

The election will be close. We could lose both IA and OH but neither will be by much if that happens. Tommy J will show results now that will just border on a landslide.

  8. MD says:

Dustin/Melissa/Native NC/Erick NC and a host of others told us that it would go down in flames.

  9. AuthorLMendez, Liberterian For Romney says:

@7 I agreed MD. I still say its 50/50 and that it’s not a sure thing though i’m an optimist atheart. I can see Obama winning but in a close one. Listen to little Tommy and you’d think we were on our way to a LBJ landslide.

  10. MD says:

The markets are worried about Greece! LOL! They must default and that has been the only real solution for a very long time.

Anarchy, chaos. The summer of 12 is going to be awesome.

  11. MD says:

Author – my prediction is that the D’s will never nominate a white male again. They now have a factional approach to elections and they can’t get enough support by going after broad constituencies.

Not that minorities are not qualified. I am for the best man or woman for the job despite ethnicity. It is just that the D’s will now exclude white men in the future. They cannot win with a white male unless they somehow find a bible thumper who is close to an R. I don’t see that happening.

  15. Phil says:

In Jensen’s world, there are no swing states – just a sea of blue from sea to shinining sea.

However, there’s a possibility that Romney has a slight lead in PPP’s upcoming polls in Utah, Wyoming, and Idaho.

Seriously folks, how can the national polls be tied when, according to Jensen, Obama is up by 7 in Virginia, 8 or 9 in Ohio, 5 or 6 in NC…….

In 2008, Obama didn’t carry any of those states by that much? We’re supposed to believe Obama is stronger now?

    Jensen’s 6 months out polling bull sh*t.

  16. Walt says:

Dave Wissing, I am not a hockey fan at all.

But I feel your pain to have the win taken away in NY with 6 seconds to go.

I know that was crushing. But we all have to buck up and move on.

Be like Scarlett O’Hara in GWTW. 🙂

  17. Scott says:

    #16- Phil
Yes,Jensen/PPP has become a caricature of itself as a Democrat Party hack.If he would show Romney with a lead in one(1) swing state,he would recoup some credibility.
As night follows day,in the Iowa and Ohio data he will release today,Obama’s substantial leads will be a result of a massive lead among Independents, which in PPP polls are nothing more than Dems who show a one second hesitation before saying they will vote for the O Man.
Jensen and his cohorts are displeased that Ras recently showed him up in the Montana Senate Poll and and he could not create any momentum against the NC Marriage Amendment.

Little-known Obama challenger could get delegate

    The Charleston Gazette

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Usually, it takes a majority of votes to win an election, but part of one contest today could hinge on whether the challenger can get 15 percent of the vote.

Under state and national Democratic Party rules, if little-known Democratic presidential candidate Keith Judd secures 15 percent of the vote in today’s election, he will technically be entitled to have at least one delegate from West Virginia at the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, N.C.

Which could be problematic, since Judd is also known as Inmate No. 11593-051 at the Federal Correctional Institution in Texarkana, Texas, where he is serving a 210-month sentence for extortion.

We explained to her that she is not qualified for membership because:

    1. She is not lefthanded

  55. DW says:

Just a few reminders before the PPP(D) poll for IA is released. The last poll of IA was mid-february by DesMoines Register. They had it 46/44 for Romney. Nothing has changed since then, other than Romney locking up the nomination and thereby getting a modest bump.

Four years ago also in February, DesMoines Register had IA shown to be 53/36 in favor of Obama over McCain.

So whatever PPP(D) says, take it in light of this DesMoines Register poll.

  56. DW says:

What I meant to say is that the IA DesMoines Register was the last newspaper driven poll. Paladin/CFP released a poll of IA yesterday showing Romney up 47/44.

And I don’t use it to attack evangelicals, I use it to describe ssq.

I admire evangelicals and people of faith, I abhor people who think this the right forum for passing moral judgment on other posters and for advancing bigotry based on religion.

And I can assure you that if your TRUE desire is to win converts to Christianity, the way you are going about it is not likely to be used by the Spirit of God to accomplish that end. 111. DW says:

114…[This is for SusyQ, others feel free to scroll down]…I am not ashamed of the gospel either. Far from it. But there is a verse along the lines of sharing the gospel that instructs us to be wise as serpents and harmless as doves. When I do “cold-turkey” evangelism, attempting to introduce Christ to people I have never met before, I take a completely different approach than when I am working with someone I have known and befriended for some time. No offense, but your approach here at HHR seems to be centered only around warning of judgment, and the subtle proud inference that you have impressed God to the point that you are going to get out of it. That’s how people are receiving your message. You should stress your sinfulness and the forgiveness you received from God because of what Christ did for you. That you are not any better than anyone else, but just better off, again, to the credit of what Christ did. Yes, there is coming judgment, but why not also share the beauty of Christ as well?As it is, you seem to be driving people away rather than drawing them in.

    122. Hey troll, f..k off.

  120. DW says:

RCP just couldn’t bring themselves to drop off that National Journal poll showing Obama +8.

  121. SusyQue says:

#DW…Each of us has been given a motivational gift when we were born again: Each one has its strengths and weaknesses. You see my boldness as a weakness. My gift is Prophesy, perhaps yours is Mercy.

  122. Rockefeller Republican says:

    125, I forgive you Jesus!

  123. jason says:

    128. Thread softly my son, or I will give you ssq as a roommate for eternal damnation.

  124. Bitterlaw says:

SSQ is going to have a stroke after Jesus goes off on Rock.

  125. jason says:

Jesus came to me in a dream and told me to say that, troll.

  126. SusyQue says:

#127…left out motivational gift of “helps”. I have two prayer partners. One has the gift of Mercy, the other Helps and Hospitality. We have never argued, we love and respect each other.

  127. jason says:

” You see my boldness as a weakness.”

Maybe Sohope is right and ssq IS a guy.

You have to have cojones to try to transform HHR into a religious blog.

  128. NYCmike says:

    Tebow? Exhibitionist?

-Does he act differently when the camera is NOT on him? What would TMZ pay for THOSE pictures, if he was caught doing something, anything, out of character?

  129. NYCmike says:

I have two prayer partners. One has the gift of Mercy, the other Helps and Hospitality. We have never argued, we love and respect each other.

-Are they all the same person, or do you wear them on your hands, like Mr Vito?

  130. jason says:

Wow, all I have is some A-holes to blog with.

Having said that I think I prefer not having a life to having ssq’s life.

When I start getting pleasure from staring at shutters its time to pull the plug.

  131. DW says:

127…sorry to have to say this to you, but the interpretation of 1 Corinthians 13 that I hold to is that the apostolic sign gifts have ceased as the result of the end of the apostolic era, meaning that these gifts were intended to be God’s tool in the early church, prior to the completion of the New Testament. Once the NT was complete, which happened at the same time the apostles all died off, then there was no more need for these apostolic gifts of the Holy Spirit. Now certainly people have natural gifts and abilities, but that is different. The gift of “prophecy” has ceased because we have the fully sufficient Scriptures available to us. We do not need any other words from God.

  132. Dr. Freud says:

    Its called Dissociative Identity Disorder.

  133. jason says:

Wow, DW is taking ssq to the woodshed, figuratively speaking of course.

  134. SusyQue says:

    Exciting day…
Indiana, North Carolina, and West Virginia. Indiana has two different time zone. 92% is EDT the rest is CDT…one hour difference.

    #137…Thanks for the info.

  136. Mr. Vito says:

My gift is the gift of exhortation!

Keep up the good work, m-fers.

  137. Bitterlaw says:

    DW lays the Scriptural smackdown.

  138. DW says:

139…I am not trying to make her feel bad or belittle…I would rather have the conversation with her in private…but this is the only way to communicate without sharing private e-mail addresses.

  139. Barrett says:

Today is indeed a day of biblical smack-downs

108 – there is no such thing as too much smut.

I do try to limit that stuff to be honest. Once in a while I cave into temptation.

  144. MD says:

113 – You mean you don’t like 400 posts devoted to a war that ended almost 150 years ago?

  145. MD says:

124 – I have been saying this for a year. Brown is not going to have an easy election. The margin of victory will be razor thin.

  146. Bitterlaw says:

MD – it’s the damned defenders of slavery who write the posts.*

    * Cream soda! Cream soda!

  147. DW says:

148 – I attend a conservative evangelical church, it does have “baptist” in the name of the church, but we are independent of any denomination. We would identify most with the idea of being a Grace church…similar to that of the well-known John MacArthur, Jr., pastor of Grace Community Church in California.

  148. Brandon says:

    Massachusetts Senate(Rasmussen)

    Warren: 45%
    Brown: 45%

  149. MD says:

Hey Brandon – since Brown is the incumbent, where would the undecideds go in that election? I actually bet Wes $20 that Brown would lose.

Hopefully, I am wrong. I see control of the Senate hinging on that race now that Maine will go communist.

  150. AuthorLMendez, Liberterian For Romney says:

PPP has Obama +7 in OH

  151. SusyQue says:

#154…I have listened and taped many of John MacArthur sermons.
I have deep respect for him and the way he is living his life. I listen to many sermons on The internet has opened up a myriad of denomination sites to go to.

When all us said and done…we are one with Him.

Markets not happy today. Below 130000 on the Dow

  153. Barrett says:

#157 – That’s just not possible. He won by 4 in 08 with all the momentum. There’s no way he’s increasing it by 3

  155. SusyQue says:

  156. AuthorLMendez, Liberterian For Romney says:

@160 I agree. last 3 OH polls had him up +4 in 1 (Ras) and up +2 in 2 (Purple Strategies & Quin). +7 is just more PPP hackery.

  157. Barrett says:

If Obama is doing well in the swing states, and yet he and Romney are tied….doesn’t that mean Romney must be doing exceedingly well in conservative strongholds?

  158. DW says:

Here is the latest official Paladin/CFP POTUS outlook. Your ONLY prognastication tool that completely ignores PPP(D) polls. States are sorted in descending order of GOP strength, from top to bottom and left to right.

Safe R: (77) TX WV SC SD ND MT GA
    Likely R: (21) IN MO
    Leans R: (11) AZ

Wobbly D: (53) IA OH CO PA
Leans D: (51) MI WI NV ME MN NM
Likely D: (40) OR NJ CT WA
Safe D: (34) MA IL DE
Lock D: (108) CA MD RI NY VT HI DC

  159. Mr. Vito says:

“….doesn’t that mean Romney must be doing exceedingly well in conservative strongholds?”

Yes. He’s up by a whole 7 points in Texas.

    Woo woo.

  160. bigben says:

Indiana opens polling 6 am-6pm EST
PST they will close at 3pm PDT (6 hours to go!)

  161. MD says:

157 – that was my guess! I know my Tommy J.

  162. bio mom says:

164 Obama was only up 2 yesterday in the swing states poll!! So, is Romney winning PA or Wisconsin by 6 then to make up for supposedly being down 8 in Ohio? Ridiculous. Ignore these assinine ppp polls.

  163. Barrett says:

#166 – Which is a clear indication of why the PPP polling is garbage.

Romney would have to carry the plains/mountain states by incredible margins in order to tie nationally but lose swing states by 7% or more

  164. DW says:

164…it would have to mean that, and that Obama is doing terrible in marxist strongholds like NYC, LA, Chicago, etc.

Or it just means PPP(D) is full of it.

  165. MD says:

    165 – A completely fair assessment.

  166. Barrett says:

#169 – You emphasize the point I’m trying to make. The numbers don’t add up. Is there one magical state where Romney is winning 100% that skews the national results?

  167. Bitterlaw says:

MD – If control of the Senate depends upon Brown, I am even more angry and depressed over COD, Angle and Buck. Three seats gone for decades. I know. Nobody cares.

  168. SoHope says:

I agree with DW. With the penning of Revelation, there is no longer a gift of prophecy. If God was still giving prophecy our Bibles would be loose leaf binders constently being added to.

  169. Barrett says:

DW – I never thought of the whole “prophecy” thing that way. It’s somewhat enlightening and reassuring to know that.

I’ve been needing prayers in some personal matters. This will definitely help

  170. MD says:

174 – You have to find a way to move on. Regrettable? Yes. Worth obsessing over? Probably not at this point. Amazingly, a fairly significant minority in the party yearned to make the same exact mistake on a grand scale.

  171. Bitterlaw says:

I got an e-mail from Santorum last night. After reading it twice, I’m still not sure if he endorsed Romney. However, I do know that he and Karen love me.

  172. Barrett says:

#174 – I thought Dean Heller was polling well in NV?
