Romney Leads Obama By 9% in MO
We Ask America continues their weekly poll releases with a new poll for the state of Missouri that shows Mitt Romney with a 9% lead over Barack Obama.
PRESIDENT – MISSOURI (WAA)
Mitt Romney (R) 49%
Barack Obama (D-inc) 40%
Gary Johnson (L) 2%
By comparison, John McCain only won in Missouri by 0.1% (<4,000 votes). This poll was done July 24th among 1172 likely voters. The article for the poll mentions WAA will be releasing a new poll for Ohio tomorrow.

First
Like I said Many Republicans don’t want to vote for Johnson because they see him as a traitor, I only hope the Paul cokes realize the only way t get Obama is out at this moment is to vote for Romney.
Paulbots are not Republicans. You’re more likely to see a Paulbot at OWS than at a Tea Party rally.

“You’re more likely to see a Paulbot at OWS than at a Tea Party rally.” Huh???
MD, Are you revising your GDP prediction based on the new durable goods data?
My proclamation:
In February of 2009, President Obama said:
“If I don’t have this done in three years…then there’s going to be a one-term proposition.”
Let his words come to fruition on November 6, 2012! In Jesus’ Holy Name
May his days in office be few (one term) and another take his charge.”

Sigh…I just saw the debate schedule:
•Moderated presidential debate on domestic policy on Oct. 3 at the University of Denver, Denver, CO
•Moderated vice presidential debate on all topics on Oct. 11 at Centre College, Danville, KY
•Town hall style debate with undecided voters asking questions at Hofstra Univ., Hempstead, NY
•Moderated presidential debate on foreign policy on Otc. 22 at Lynn University, Boca Raton, FL
All of them are away games. Crowds will all be hostile to Romney. Boca Raton, FL is a marxist bastion.
Do not place your hopes in Paul supporters. I spoke to one who hopes Obama loses, but will have no part in voting for Romney. This person thinks that one of the best leaders who defends freedom in the world right now is Vladamir Putin.
hopefully, romney has erased obama’s lead in ohio. the waa ohio is more important than this poll.
mormonism=defeat!
DW—Romney is going to have to go into the heart of the enemy and slay the dragon if he wants to be president. That’s just the way things go. When he wins, he can put all of these liberal newspeople in the reeducation camps.

49% Trust Romney More On Economy; 43% Trust Obama More
Voters continue to have slightly more trust in Mitt Romney than in President Obama when it comes to dealing with the economy. The Republican challenger has narrower leads in trust over the incumbent on four other top issues regularly tracked by Rasmussen Reports, further highlighting the closeness of the race.

I realize it’s just one poll, but the crosstabs of the Mo poll should be very disturbing to Dear Leader. Exits showed he lost Mo independents 51-45. He’s down in this poll by 18.
Not exactly and indicative of his problems with indies everywhere this cycle.
R’s always get screwed on debates.
Is jenny a troll or just bi-polar?
lost them 51-45 in ’08 I meant to say.
15…just like “non-partisan commissions” for re-districting.
But Romney is a good debater. He is really intelligent, has a good grasp of data, facts, statistics, etc., and will come across calm and detailed. People wanting glitz, slick sound bites, and platitudes won’t be impressed but I think the country is sick to death of that kind of thing. At least I hope so.
Here are a sample of the debate questions…
1) First question to President Obama: We will give Mr. Romney a chance to respond in a moment, but in your view, what should Mr. Romney make his first priority? Should he stop beating his wife or should he stop beating his kids?
2) First question to Mr. Romney:
How would you describe President Obama’s first term…a) outstanding, b) very impressive, c) incredibly effective, d) wholeheartedly praiseworthy, or e) all of the above
2) Second question to President Obama:
Which do you think has surprised voters more, that you single-handedly shot Bin Laden, or that Mr. Romney helped Holmes shoot all those people in the theater in CO?
Wow. Even the Boston Globe came out today and said the Boston mayor was full of sh*t.
They roasted him.
Happy birthday Mary Jo… she would have been 72 today.
22…yeah, never are there more intolerant people than those on the radical left.

Grrr…Dave’s filter just ate a long post in response to 28. The short version is simply that its hard to be a sitting POTUS who won election the first time and is running for re-election.
Van Buren – bad economy
Cleveland – just a close election
Harrison – just a close election
Taft – third party split the GOP
Hoover – Great Depression
Carter – Great Malaise
Bush41 – third party split the GOP
meant to say its hard to BEAT a sitting POTUS…

DW you forgot the 2 Adams and Ford
41…no, actually I didn’t. I had the qualifier in my original post that was eaten, that I am speaking of the modern party era which began after the two Adams. Ford was never elected the first time. I was limiting my list only to those presidents who were elected POTUS for a first term, then tried to run for re-election to a second term. Only these situations are reasonably comparable to what we have this year.
Don’t worry, PPP will come out with a poll showing MO as tossup.
@42 ok, gotcha! but even then Ford almost won in 76 which would strengthen your argument
btw any confirmation that PPP will turn to LV polling?
In the post that was eaten, I provided all sorts of background info on each of those examples where a previously elected POTUS was beaten in their attempt at re-election.
VanBuren’s was probably the most interesting. He was raised in poverty and worked his way up to get where he was. His opponent, Wm. Henry Harrison was an aristocratic VA planter in the mold of Madison and Monroe, and was a relative of John Tyler. But the voters were wholesale fooled by the Harrison campaign into believing the exact opposite was true. When they voted, they believed Harrison was reared on the frontier in a cabin drinking hard cider, and that VanBuren was a wealthy priveleged son, who could not identify with the hard economic times.

When I was a kid, the state governments down here denied legitimate voters their right to vote. The segregationists in my Party did it.
Now, I see it happening again. And, the other Party is doing it.
And, I find it to be disgraceful. And, it’s being done simply for electoral advantage.
That is what I believe. And, that is all I will say here on the subject.
-Sorry for reposting this comment from several posts back, but between Tim and lisab, I am not sure who to laugh at more!
In their worlds, if you (or your parents, in Tim’s case) held a position, you must always hold that position. Tim responds by not answering the question, lisab responds by saying GFY!
Hmm
Did lisab ever acknowledge the state of North Carolina voting overwhelmingly to continue the definition of marriage as one male with one female (nothing in there about homosexuality, mind you, if a gay man and gay woman wanted to marry and have kids, that would be legal!!), and NOT calling for businesses which supported same-sex marriages to be banned from doing business in that state??
#45 – Yes, on their website PPP confirmed they would go to “Likely Voters”. But it won’t make a difference, as it’s not really what you think it is.
Rather than perform a LV screen, they’re simply starting the call with “If you do not intend to vote in this election, please hang up now” (or similar language). It won’t make a difference in their bottomline results.
no she didn’t mike. I say again when it comes to tolerance NC > MA
The Pope and Barack Obama (pre-pro-gay marriage) are persona non grata in Boston
A chicago alderboob is blocking a chik fil a in his ward.
Who needs another business when your city is at full employment?
#49 “no she didn’t mike.” That’s because they are doing the right thing, which is surprising since they are such rubes… Everyone south of Massachusetts is a southerner, and southerners are rubes… she has said that many a time.
Apparently she meant everyone south of the street directly to the north of the Boston Globe.
The Obama campaign will likely drop the economy and go against Romney on foreign affairs…They are hitting him on his trip overseas and they devoted a whole debate to foriegn policy
That is why Romney floated Condi for VP…I hope Romney is studying up it is the only decent card Obama can play
my conclusion was, that we clearly don’t have a Taft-Bush41 scenario here as no third party candidate will take enough votes. There are similarities to the Cleveland-Harrison scenario as our current electorate is also sharply polarized along party lines, and there are also similarites to the Hoover-Carter scenario. Time will tell.
#55 What do you see as something Obama will point to in terms of foreign affairs? or do you foresee a purely negative discussion?
““Wow, lisab got destroyed here last night.””

then vote menino out
but the community supports him
the voters have spoken
“oh yeah, your calling all of us snake handlers was really impressive!”
awwwwww …
were you offended?
gee … what other group might be offended by someone saying they are damned for being who they are?
hmmmmmmmmmm
want to do business in a community?
don’t insult the community
so i’m guessing lisab goes into troll mode over being an evangelical atheist? ok…
63..no, I was not offended. Just mocking your silly approach to tackling the arguments of your opponents. A few strange churches deep in the Appalachains handle snakes. They are not even true evangelical churches, so you then say all evangelicals are this way. OK, then you are the same as the unibomber. Its dumb and a poor way to argue your point. It showed that you had nothing left to argue.
lisab, wipe the sleep from your eyes and eat your breakfast first.
“They are not even true evangelical churches”
oh … they are not true churches?
Obama’s approval/disapproval and the Obama-Romney horse race are all at 46%!
“want to do business in a STATE? don’t DISAGREE with the STATE”
There, lisab…I fixed it
“It showed that you had nothing left to argue.”
the argument has not changed
there is no place for a top down bigoted company in boston
don’t like it? don’t do business here
and I do not hate gay people. I do follow the teachings of the Bible which says that homosexual behavior is wrong. Deal with it. I believe the Bible is true and right. Others choose to believe differently, and I respect their freedom to hold another view. But to use the power of GOVERNMENT to supress people who old other views is wrong at every level as was shown here by others who argued that point last night. Legally, the restraunt has a right to open its doors in your community. If you don’t like the owner because of his views, eat elsewhere and let the free market take its course.
boston is not a state
lisab is a bigot of the highest order. Completely intolerant of those who disagree.
74- i agree
This really isn’t worth my time but if you surveyed the people in the Chicago area for this Chik Fil A, I guarantee that 70% would be on the side of Chik Fil A so Lisab the community would agree with them. This is, if we are talking about the gay issue. I only skim these posts. I have liberal internet sites to destroy so I am quite busy.
” I do not hate gay people. I do follow the teachings of the Bible …”
blah blah blah
the government is made up of people, voted into office by the community
you don’t like menino’s choice
vote him out of office.
I am still trying to figure out what my church membership has to do with me not liking what the mayor of Boston is doing.
I guess it is like someone standing up against Jim Crowe and the response is “you must be a N*&^@# lover!”
“lisab is a bigot of the highest order. Completely intolerant of those who disagree.”
i’d have to agree based on what I see here
” but if you surveyed the people in the Chicago area for this Chik Fil A, I guarantee that 70% would be on the side of Chik Fil A”
but this is boston
lisab,
North Carolina businesses were clearly “bigoted” against the people of that state who overwhelmingly said that a gay man & a gay woman are allowed to marry one another, but the state/cities of North Carolina did NOT ban any of those companies.
How come you are so intolerant of people with different viewpoints? Why can’t you and your mayor be more enlightened, like the people who are in charge down in North Cariolina?
71 – he is a bigot because he doesn’t believe in homosexuality? That sounds mighty close minded from a so called utopian socialist. For me, I don’t care about the issue. Somehow, I think, outside of the college kids, the majority, once again, would side with Chik Fil A.
if you don’t like menino’s decision, you are free to move here and vote him out of office
but since the people of boston overwhelmingly support menino
you probably won’t have much luck
“Boston is not a state”
That is your point??? That government persecution of free speech is ok as long as it is done by a municipality…atleast until election day…as long as the mob cheers
The Mayor is doing what he is told to by the gay mafia. They have huge money and are not afraid to destroy Dem pols who don’t fall in line. Notice how many of them have sudden “conversions”?
Lisab is just a close minded individual.
Lisab cannot possibly be stupid enough to believe what she is writing. She is just being contrarian now. It didn’t start that way, but after she got demolished last night, she has no choice and is just trying to get a reaction.
Governments cannot discriminate based on religion and they cannot deny free speech. Even the most libtarded libtard knows Menino is wrong.
84 – Hope. Maybe she can tell us another pity story about the teacher’s union.
I saw last night’s thread. She got destroyed. Ugly.
#83 – North Carolina government officials, and the citizens of that SOUTHER STATE, are able to work with people whose belief system is different from theirs.
Boston,MA citizens, and their Mayor Menini, are NOT able to respect a difference of opinion from anyone within their city limits, the full force of GOVERNMENT POWER must be used to throw them out.
SOUTHER deserves a N on the end!!

LisaB has used this same line of attack in defending Romneycare. Yawn.
Apparently MA is intolerant of religions that don’t accept gay marriage. Seems hypocritical.
“Apparently MA is intolerant of religions that don’t accept gay marriage. Seems hypocritical.”
yep
“bigotry against gays”
I am sorry, but bigotry is being defined as what? Disagreeing with you on a political issue, and/or in the meaning/definition of a word?
” It is unconstitutional.”
well, we will see.
evangelical bigots vs. sane people of boston
Well then, every radical Islamist should be asked to leave the city limits of Boston, pronto.
Breaking News:
Republican Mayor of Arlington, Texas announces a list of 100 business, from small to large, have had owners make public statements against the death penalty and therefore are not welcomed in his city and he will use the power of government to insure they are not allowed to operate in the city.
He followed up with, “We have the death penalty in Texas. They insulted the city.”
99 is why Lisa is really a lib. Totally closed minded to anyone else’s value systems except her own.
Anyway, she already got crushed on this issue so I am moving on now.
seems lisab has some sort of hatred for christians
“Disagreeing with you on a political issue”
no, using a company to target a group of people because the ceo’s screwy religion does not agree with them.
When will Boston deport all muslims who own businesses in the city?
“Well then, every radical Islamist should be asked to leave the city limits of Boston, pronto.”

remind me how a company that allows gays to eat in their Restaurant is “targeting” them?
Keep in mind that I am an agnostic who actually doesn’t care about this issue that much. However, I do think everybody has a right to their opinion. The CEO was recommending anything horrible take place. He just has a point of view that differs from the gay mafia. The gay mafia won’t sit back. Ask Obama. Why do you think he had a sudden conversion?
“Anti-religious/christian bigots are by definition irrational. Not even worth responding to her tripe.”
you’re right. I’ll just ignore her little rant like I do Susy’s

Friend –
My upcoming birthday next week could be the last one I celebrate as President of the United States, but that’s not up to me — it’s up to you.
This July deadline is our most urgent yet, coming after two consecutive months of being significantly outraised by Romney and the Republicans.
And if you pitch in $3 or whatever you can before midnight tonight, you and a guest will be automatically entered to join me at my birthday get-together next month:
https://donate.barackobama.com/My-Birthday
Thanks. Hope I’ll see you soon.

and menino is telling him that the community of boston does not want an anti-gay company in their city
I may donate $3 for that. I love Birthday cake, and if I bring my clubs, maybe he’ll take me golfing!

Just like Lisa’s stance on public unions. Lisa – you lost this debate.
Please answer 116 to 118
Please answer as to when you expect every muslim business to be deported from Boston.
Meanwhile, the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court (the same court that first allowed gay marriage) today said that Vermont’s civil unions were the equivalent of marriages. And thus you would have to void a civil union in order to marry somone in Mass or else it would be polygamy. That’s kind of ironic and funny since one of the main arguments of proponents of gay marriage is that unions are “not the same thing”.

Well Lisa doesn’t believe in the Constitution. We now know that much. She believes that executives, even Mayors, should have dictatorial powers that are above the Constitution. So, if the Mayor decided to shoot people who are against the gay movement, then more of those people should risk their lives and move into Boston and vote him out.

Hey, had my first Chick Fil A meal today. Thanks to JM I knew in advance what to order, chicken nuggets. They were OK, the fries I liked, I forget what they are called but they are different looking, washboard or something like that. JM said to be sure to get the Chick Fil A sauce, and that was the key. Very tasty and good with both the chicken and fries. The restaurant is extremely clean compared to most fast food places. I still think it is a little pricey, but I will definitely go again on August 1 which is the eat at Chick Fil A day. And I might go once in awhile after the gym, cuz that sauce is not bad.

The people of Boston do not support Menino. There are all kinds of fairly rational people who have come out and said that his unconstitutional violation of first amendment rights is wrong.
And you do not have to be arrested to have you first amendment rights violated.
MD,
The Penn St situation is, indeed, tragic and a serious blow to the institution. There is, however, a silver lining to the situation.
Penn St and the Univ of Hawaii are making arrangements for Penn St to play in Honolulu each year at the end of the season for four years, beginning as early this season….on Dec 8th.
I used to eat their stuff quite a bit but haven’t lately. It is decent for fast food.
Chick-fil-a and Zaxby’s have the best chick sandwiches.

Or maybe Tactical Nuclear Penguin if you’d like to try a 32% ABV beer.
I googled them and the first one sounds more like something I would try.
And if you’re in Philadelphia, you’re in the only place on the east coast that can get Russian River beers.
I have only drank 2 beers. The first was at a business dinner. It was Blue Moon. It was ok. I don’t remember the second but it was nasty.
Not a fan of blue moon or wheat beers in general. Gives me headaches too.
Isn’t MO a “swing state”? Nate & Charley told me it was.
Be interesting to see if the developing anti-zero, anti-Sky Queen tide also takes out SOS Red Robin Carnahan & AG Chris “turncoat” Koster, too.
Pliny the Elder is the highest rated beer in the world.

Pliny the Elder
I thought that was the name of the bigot CEO of Chick-a-fil!
LOL – the market is up on the ECB’s President’s statement? Really? We have not learned one single thing in the last 2 years? Thinking of taking a little out of the market based on this bump. Think I will do it now.
Try Alexander Keith’s. A very good beer.

Continuing information sharing on inependents 2008 to 2012
Exits had Obama beating McCain by 11 in Nevada in 2008.
RAS poll today has Romney up over Obama with indies by 5.
The pattern is state after state…..
203 – never heard of it, looked it up on beeradvocate. Every one of their beers gets a Poor rating.
Don’t like hefeweizens much. I don’t like banana tasting things in general, which is what many hefeweizens taste like.
EML,
You seem to do more tasting than I do. I’ll stick with Anchor Steam, Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, Yuengling, and Guinness.
I will drink Budweiser, Miller, and Coors, but only if they are ICE-COLD, and I have been sweating for 2 hours.
OK – just did it. This trade completely unwinds my trade from last July where I thought the market was undervalued. I will have made between 11 and 12% on that trade depending on where the market ends today.
I don’t think the market is undervalued anymore. I now think it is overvalued because the E in PE ratio is going to move lower.
206 – Surprised. I really like it. Just started selling in the U.S. last year.
Every time you eat a chicken sandwich there, a lesbian kitten dies. #banmorspich
the best beer
208 – always try new beers; you might find something you really like. Guinness is my favorite light beer. I don’t like Yuengling. Anchor Steam is ok. Sierra Nevada is a good pale ale. If you like Sierra Nevada, you should have no problems with IPAs, which are a little more hoppy and more full bodied.
I do not drink Bud, Coors, or any American Lagers. Everywhere around here usually has Labatt’s or Molson and I can at least stomach those in a pinch.
HD – I still think GDP comes in at 1.3 to 1.4%. That is NOT good btw.
I also like Moosehead Light. That probably doesn’t get a high ranking either. I am not a fan of Coors Light but sometimes I think the beers that taste the absolute worst get high scores because it is “cool” to voter for microbrewers. Some of that stuff tastes like piss to me.
i’m a fan of Yuengling and Sam Adams myself
The left here in PA is going full blast against Voter ID. It is beyond hysterical now.

It says ‘usually vote’, so I don’t know what kind of party ID that would measure… aren’t almost all HI politicians dem?
@218 RV or LV poll?
How else can one stuff a ballot box if one is required to show ID???
Author, it says likely…
They actually trotted out some lady who was close 10 100 years old and claimed she couldn’t get an ID because of some stupid, made up liberal reason. I’ll bet she has a social security card.
In 2008, 56% of the Obama national popular vote margin came from the two states of California and New York.
Just threw that out for the hell of it because I’m bored.
“They actually trotted out some lady who was close 10 100 years old and claimed she couldn’t get an ID because of some stupid, made up liberal reason. I’ll bet she has a social security card.”
Have they eliminated provisional ballots?
215 – no doubt there are some people who have hopped on the microbrew bandwagon who in the end don’t really know any better.
But there is a good reason why the macrobrews are ranked low. Those styles – American Adjunct Lager, Light Lager, American Pale Lager – all lack body and taste. They’re made for mass appeal to people who just want to get drunk. If they weren’t cold and highly, highly carbonated, no one would ever drink one.
Some of the macros actual produce decent beers. Michelob does a Dunkelweizen and a Rye Pale Ale that are up to microbrew standards.
“208 – always try new beers; you might find something you really like.”
Definitely. and you correct about IPA’s, I juct can’t remember which brewer made the one that I liked. Out in California/Oregon, will have to do some searching. That will be fun!

I am not sure Doc. I do know that some Dems here are hoping to make a big stink in the polling places in the Philly burbs where the R’s are strong. They want to go in with no ID and refuse to leave. They are hoping it will drive down the vote in those areas.
I don’t want to give too many details but a friend of a friend did some undercover work on this and attended a couple of meetings. The good news is that they really don’t have the man power to pull it off in force. It should be interesting though.
“If they weren’t cold and highly, highly carbonated, no one would ever drink one.”
That is why I put my condition of sweating for 2 hours on drinking Bud, Miller, Coors…after my friends and I work up a good sweat playing hockey, an ICE COLD BUD is downright tasty! A “better” beer does not taste good at that point!
Some funny stuff from Capper. I am comment #2. Just trying to stir up some fun.

No need to change GDP outlook on duriable goods orders. Outside of Defense and Aircraft the orders actually fell. Duriable goods orders are those items that last three or more years. In fact some aircraft and defense orders are not produced for 5 or more years. You can order a 737 right now and take delivery in 2019!!
http://www.mercurynews.com/business/ci_21162676/aircraft-demand-pushed-up-us-durable-goods-orders
factory orders for cars, appliances, TVs and items that will be produced in the next three to six months actually fell.

any organization that openly denegrates gay people does not fit the community standards of boston
that is the basis of rejection
if you would allow a business that openly denigrated black people in your city, then you will have no problem with chik fil-a
but so far, menino is still in power and has not been recalled
“any organization that openly denegrates gay people”
again gays are allowed to eat there, your argument makes no sense
“I hear the Mayor of Charlotte is going to ban all public unions. I”
that would in my opinion be unfortunate
i hope the people there do vote him out
From KOS:
“…does Chick-Fil-A have, like many large companies, a gay employees group, like MGLAN (McDonald’s Gay Lesbian Allies Network)? It’s a fair question.”
If not, I guess they are bigots and should be banned from commerce.
as would be their right to do
Black people openly denigrate gay people all the time. When will those businesses be shut down? Also, please point to where they have been discriminated against and point to the part of the Constitution that gives him that power?
I will NOT stop on this.
249 – based on your logic, a mayor of a small town in Alabama can say that he will not allow a store owned by black people to be opened because he doesn’t like black people.
lisab – NOPE – the people would support him. As a matter of fact, there is a movement with all red govs to ban public unions in their states. The people support it so no vote on the matter is necessary.
There is a movement to ban teacher’s unions in about 30 states. As long as the executive of the state says so, then it is OK to ban them.
But barring the popular fast-food restaurant over the personal views of Cathy is an “open and shut” discrimination case, legal scholars told FoxNews.com.
….
Yawn.
Boston and Chicago will STFU or risk getting sued.
I need to see some evidence that anyone in that firm was discriminated against and/or a person was denied a meal based on their beliefs.

You are a whack job. If you answer the simple question, which my 9 year old son could answer, it blows up your whole argument. I hope your hubby gets home soon, so he can decide what you should make him for dinner!

If gays were protected against discrimination they wouldn’t let themselves be goaded into a pointless enterprise (for them) matrimony. For los ricos it’s ok but if they both work I would love to be a fly on the wall when they do next year’s tax return and ‘discover’ the marriage penalty. Ay, pobrecitos!
do you want that clean, fresh feeling?
new thread…
the mayor was quite specific
the ceo denigrated gays in his speech, acting as spokesman for his company
that is the top-down discrimination that is banned in boston.
that you don’t like menino’s answer, does not change it
An opinion or a belief becomes discrimination how? Be specific sweetie. How specifically were gays discriminated against? Come on, cutie, you can handle that question.
the guys speech as ceo representing the company, was no different than if he said, “we don’t like us no n-words in this company”
if that is not discrimination in your book, than i guess you don’t like menino’s reasoning
the people of boston will have to live with that

But on Thursday, Menino backed away from that threat, saying he won’t actively block the chain.
“I can’t do that,” he told the Herald. “That would be interference to his rights to go there.”
Sarah Hamilton, a spokeswoman for Emanuel, said that the mayor said that Cathy did not share Chicago’s values.
“He did not say that he would block or play any role in the company opening a new restaurant here,” Hamilton said in a statement to FoxNews.com. “If they meet all the usual requirements, then they can open their restaurant

oh wait …
lisab = lisabigot from now on. Using GOVERNMENT to stop a legitimate business from being opened. It is completely a violation of freedom of speech…and anyone reading this account should be scared to death that some government official could simply declare your thoughts to be illegal too. The thing that lisabigot doesn’t understand is that I would take up arms and die on the battlefield to defend HER rights to open a legal store and sell whatever she wants, even if I disagree with her views or what she sells. I know of a very rural town of about 1500 people that had a witch want to open a store to sell her wiccan products. She got the permit just like any other store, and opened. Nobody goes in there, but she had a right to open a business. Chick-Fil-A has a right to open a business and shutting it down because of the owner’s personal opinions on something is completely trampling on everything this country stands for.
“It is completely a violation of freedom of speech”
you are free to use the n-word in speech
that does not mean you will get a business license
283, yes it does. ANYBODY should be able to get a permit to open a store to sell whatever they want, so long as that product is otherwise legal. Nobody has to frequent the store, but NO GOVERNMENT has the power to censor someone from engaging in commerce due to their personal views. Completely immoral.
“because of the owner’s personal opinions ”
he was speaking as ceo, not as an individual
apparently it is the policy of his company that gays cannot be married
it doesn’t matter if he was the ceo…you have lost this argument badly…this was posted above:
37.Ultra right wing organization supports Chic-Fil-A
The ACLU “strongly supports” same-sex marriage, Schwartz said, but noted that if a government can exclude a business for being against same-sex marriage, it can also exclude a business for being in support of same-sex marriage.
“But we also support the First Amendment,” he said. “We don’ think the government should exclude Chick-fil-A because of the anti-LGBT message. We believe this is clear cut.”
and it is my own personal policy as a licensed preacher that I will NOT marry a gay couple. Does that mean that I shouldn’t be able to pastor a church?
Of course not. This is a FREE country! Why don’t you move to China or Cuba where the government love to ban people from doing things based on their personal views.
“it is my own personal policy as a licensed preacher that I will NOT marry a gay couple”
it would however keep you from being a judge in massachusetts
do you allow nude bars in your town?
nude dancing is free speech
what about sex clubs?
are they ok with your community standards?
288….not necessarily, I am sure that your state has judges with views for more radical than anything I could even dream of.
more to the point
if the ceo said
“we don’t like n-words in our company”
would you give them a business license?
289 – your argument is totally laughable. The guy is trying to open a store to sell CHICKEN. If a community votes to open establishments like the ones you cite, then they are free to do so. Nobody in Boston is against the sale of CHICKEN. So this guy has a right to open a store, just like your precious mayor just admitted to in his retraction!
i don’t care what the ceo says, he can open a business! There are people who have been former felons, violent criminals, people who beat their wives, and they own businesses. It is their right to operate a business. Nobody has to go into the store, but he has a right to be open for business and not shut down by a communist, intolerate, bigot mayor.
“Nobody in Boston is against the sale of CHICKEN”
they are however against a company that calls black people the n-word
or
denigrates gays for that matter
“The guy is trying to open a store to sell CHICKEN”
but but
you said it was about free speech
did not the scotus rule nude dancing is just a form of free speech?
how can you deny a business license?
no answer?
i guess free speech has its limits when it is your community
lisabigot, no governement can deny a business license to someone who wants to open a store because of their own personal views. You don’t really want this as it is a sword which cuts both ways. Conservative communities like the one I mentioned above, could then ban the witch from opening a wiccan products store just because the mayor doesn’t like her opinions. Everyone should be free to open a store that sell legal products. If a community decides that strip clubs are illegal, then they cannot open that kind of store…but it has nothing to do with the personal views of the owner, but rather it DOES have to do with the product available in the store. Your comparison does not work. Nobody is against the sale of CHICKEN.
lisabigot, you have confused the PRODUCT sold which can be banned by a community, with the personal opinions of the owner of a business who is selling a LEGAL product.
” their own personal views.”
corporate policy
he was speaking as the company
CCC
boston banns chicken prepared by evangelical bigots
kentucky fried chicken is also not allowed to sell here when they call black people the n-word
so the policy is even handed
Even the Boston Globe gets it for crying out loud.
Lisa is hopeless.
Man, what a beat down. This was all world.
There once was a girl named lisab
Who’s trademark was extreme bigotry
She didn’t know when to quit
Till SoHope gave her a fit
And exposed her intolerant insanity
299…he is the ceo, that doesn’t mean he won’t hire people who have a view different from his, nor does he ban gays from eating in his restraunt. Just like I don’t ban gays from showing up to church…speaking of which, it might frustrate you to know that I happen to know of a gay man who is getting his life straightened around…kicked the deadbeat partner out of the house and is coming back to God, repenting of his sin and getting his life back on track. Should he be banned from Boston because he turned his back on the gay community?
if he had not been speaking as ceo
or if he had said
“i personally am against gay marriage, but we do not discriminate as a company”
he would have no trouble now.
305…the company DOES NOT DISCRIMINATE!! That is a lie to say otherwise.
The mayor is in big time retreat on this one. Even he admits he wouldn’t have a legal leg to stand on.
He sure was big and bad yesterday. Guess the city legal dept told him to STFU.
307..yep…the city lawyers don’t like to badly lose embarrassingly hopeless cases in court.
if he had said
“i personally am against gay marriage, but we do not murder gay people on sight*”
we would have no trouble now!
*There…I fixed it
“he would have no trouble now”
Where’s he have any trouble? Big mouth mayor said yesterday it would be “very difficult for Chic to get a business license in Boston”. Today, denies that would be the case. Again, city legal people told him to STFU. “Mr Mayor, kindly shut your mouth before Chic sues us and they own Boston.”
“Guess the city legal dept told him to STFU.”
they will still keep chick fila out until the company says publicly it will not discriminate against gays
you can book that
walmart is not in boston and they have been trying for years
So the mayor now agrees that he should not, and will not try to stop them from opening a store. So he is now on our side, along with the ACLU, leaving just lisab and a few kos crazies arguing for government enforced bigotry and discrimination.
I just learned that Bill Buckner loves Chick-Fil-A, which explains why the ball went through his legs in the 1986 world series.
TKO. This one is over.
lisab has been hung out to dry by the ACLU, the Boston Mayor, the mob of Boston, and the first ammendment.
So now it’s “you have to say you won’t discriminate against gay”
They don’t have to say anything of the sort.
ok, Im heading back to the other thread lisab’s intellectual funeral is now over.
So now its, the ACLU, the dingbats on The View, the backed up mayor himself, everyone on HHR, not to mention civil libertarians everywhere…
vs.
lisabigot and a few kos crazies.
People do NOT want governments shutting people down from legitimate business enterprise based on their own personal views.
“They don’t have to say anything of the sort.”
they already did

has chick fila opened a store in boston?
nope
don’t hold your breath
some on the left are saying this could have been Obama’s “Sister Soulja Moment”
too late Mayor Soulja recanted his government backed bigotry.
I wouldn’t wish to open a store in Boston and serve a community full of such backward thinking knuckle-draggers who surpress liberty and engage in gross intolerance.
“I wouldn’t wish to open a store in Boston”
on behalf of the people of boston
let me just say
PHEWWWWWWWWW!!!
bullet dodged there
When you’ve lost the lefty nutjobs on the View….
DW,
as for being knuckle draggers
you admit you discriminate against gays
you tell yourself it is justified
but you still are the one who discriminates against gays
no one is trying to prevent you from getting married
I do not discriminate and say that Gays shouldn’t get married. They are free to marry anyone from the opposite sex they wish to, just like its been for 6000 years. If they don’t wish to marry, they are free to shack up with whoever they want and do whatever sick perverted things they want to do. I am the one who believes in liberty here, not you.
And remember if you eat at Chick-Fil-A, they are closed on Sundays so their employees can go to church to worship the Lord.
And the marxist dingbats on the View and the communist ACLU agrees with me, not you.
116 – 118
answer the question, all 3 ask the same thing!
But let me be very clear here…I do not hate gays. However, I am not in a position to tell God that he was wrong in His position on homosexual activity. The Bible is very clear on that. So as part of my faith in God, I must be in opposition to homosexual activity. That doesn’t mean that I don’t care about gays…I wish to see them rightly related to God so they can enjoy the benefits of having God in their lives. But we thankfully live in a free country…so whether its freedom to worship God or freedom to rebel against God’s instructions, we have a free country. They are free to commit their acts of homosexuality, and the CEO of Chick-Fil-A is free to open a store to sell chicken. The ACLU rightly argues for both freedoms to be upheld.
But I do not hate gays…I do feel sorry for them as I believe according to the Bible that they are not rightly related to the God who loves them and died for them.
if a gay man and a gay woman want to get married to each other in North Carolina, can they get married? YES!
if a gay man and a gay woman want to get a Chick-Fil-A with each other in Boston,MA, can they? YES!
If lisab was asked a question, and her hubby wasn’t home, would she be ALLOWED to answer it? NO!
YO
CCCXXXIII
227. I feel left out.
No moron club?
“However, I am not in a position to tell God that he was wrong in His position on homosexual activity. ”
right …
just the way southerners were in no position to tell god he was wrong about slavery, or segregation, or inter-marriage
you are just repeating the same plays from the same playbook
southerners thought they were the ones being discriminated against back in the 60′s too, both the 18 and 19 60′s
This has nothing to do with southerners, slavery, segregation or interracial marriage. I am opposed to slavery, opposed to segregation, and have no problem with interracial marriage. I am confident that the CEO of Chick-Fil-A agrees with me on those three positions. Anyone for slavery, for segregation and opposed to interracial marriage has not understood the Bible correctly. Moses had an interracial marriage. The Bible condemns segregation, and God’s design was not for slavery, but freedom. Man’s sinfulness led to slavery, led to bigotry against other races. That was man’s problem, not God’s. God loves the world so much that he gave Jesus Christ to die on the cross to pay the penalty for everyone’s sins–mine and yours.
And I am originally from just as far north as Boston, but over in NY state. I am not a native southerner.
And for what its worth in the thread above, someone joked about your death, and I stepped in and said that was going too far…you were made by God and have value…you were made in God’s image.
“This has nothing to do with southerners, slavery, segregation or interracial marriage.”
you justify your discrimination the
same way
339…you are wrong. I do not engage in any discrimination. I love all people, and I follow the Bible. If someone kills someone, they have violated God’s laws, and that sin is an offense to God and I wish them to be right with God. If someone tells a lie, that sin violates God’s laws and I wish them to be right with God. If someone engages in homosexual activity, that sin is an offense to God and I wish them to be right with God. It has nothing to do with discrimination. I don’t wish for anyone to violate God’s laws, but we are in a free country and people are free to do so.
Any appeal to the Bible made by southerners to defend the sins of slavery and discrimination was done so as a false appeal. Its not the Bible’s fault or God’s fault that people mis-use the Bible for their own sinfulness. The apostles all warned that people would do this, and they have.

And for what its worth in the thread above, someone joked about your death, and I stepped in and said that was going too far…you were made by God and have value…you were made in God’s image.

“This has nothing to do with southerners, slavery, segregation or interracial marriage.”
you justify your discrimination the
same way
Class vs Crass. lisab is the snooki of HHR!
I love Chick-fil-A.
I love the US Constitution even more.
DW,
I can confirm your defense of lisab when someone called for her death. You are a class act, and she is W R O N G!
Well, as I keep saying, she really doesn’t want what the mayor has now backtracked on. Once we open the door to banning people from the free exercise of commercial trade of legal products (like chicken), solely on the personal views of people, then pandora’s box is open. Its a sword that cuts both ways. I used the example of a very conservative town with a Republican mayor and they issued the permit to a witch to open a store to sell wiccan products. They didn’t shut her down because they didn’t agree with the views of the witch. Its a free country. Nobody goes into the witch’s store, but that is freedom too.

Did the man refuse to give chicken to a gay person?

“no, using a company to target a group of people because the ceo’s screwy religion does not agree with them.”
name one act of discrimation toward gay people by Chic-fil-a?
118.MD (Mad Dog) says:

How did he “target” gay people?
judyt2012,
Can you help lisab with three questions? She seems to be avoiding them. I don’t know why.
“I love all people”
that is not evident from your behavior
“Once we open the door to banning people from the free exercise of commercial trade ”
you ban people from nude dancing
that is legal
DW,
you do discriminate against gay people
you do discriminate against those you consider non-christian
you even discriminate against those who are not christian enough according to your religion
and your cabal of evangelicals are right with you
I only scanned Lisab’s comments but I see that she has made a prima facie case for exactly what is wrong with the gay agenda.
It isn’t enough to leave people alone in the privacy of their bedrooms, nope. The gay agenda demands that no one hold an opinion that doesn’t fully embrace their lifestyle.
Funny isn’t it. Are we all supposed to be gay in order to make homosexuals comfortable?
NYCrime – -please point me to Lisab’s 3 questions. I only have about 10 minutes before I will be out of touch for a few hours.
judyt2012,
Can you help lisab with three questions? She seems to be avoiding them. I don’t know why.
Lisab — Where is the gay gene? There is genetic research that says I will have blue eyes, blonde hair, an increased likelihood for heart disease and breast cancer. Where is the gene that says I will prefer to have sex with men instead of women?
judyt,
you are free to have an opinion, but gay marriage is legal in massachusetts
and discrimination based on gender preference is illegal
I have not read the CEOs comments. I suspect that most people here have not read the entire interview.
I did hear that he said that children who are not raised with a father (male role model) and mother (female role model) grow up with an emotional disadvantage.
This is a true statement. I see the emotional disadvantage of in my nieces and nephews who have grown up without fathers due to death and divorce. Does it mean all children growing up in households that lack male/female role models will be emotionally disadvantaged. NO. But most will be.
So discriminating against Chick-fil-a from opening a store in Boston because their “gender preference” is male with female is illegal in Massachusetts.
See, this was so easy. Lisab admits that it is wrong for the Boston mayor to discriminate agaisnt Chik-fil-a.
347 – what behavior? I care about all people – including you.
Nude dancing is banned due to zoning laws. Just as are liquor stores banned from opening in certain areas. Just as chemical plants can’t be built next to the play ground.
348…that is a product banned. Chicken is a product. You are talking about banning an owner. An owner is not a product.
Does Chick-fil-a refuse to sell sandwiches to gay people? Wow.
I was sure the guy working at the Chick-fil-a window last night was a girlie man. Darn… that’s the trouble with gaydar, you never know when it will go on the fritz.
349.DW,
you do discriminate against gay people
you do discriminate against those you consider non-christian
you even discriminate against those who are not christian enough according to your religion
and your cabal of evangelicals are right with you

–This is all wrong as I showed above. I do not discriminate. Discriminate means that I take an unbiblical view of someone and hold that against them. If I view everyone the way that God has commanded me to view them in the Bible, then I have not discriminated. The Bible commands me to love the sinner but hate the sin. So that is what I try to do.
I do not discriminate…I simply wish for everyone to embrace God and enjoy Him forever in heaven…its an all-inclusive wish. I wish for no one to reject God and be under his just punishment.
“Nude dancing is banned due to zoning laws”
but… but… it is free speech
i thought free speech was allowed everywhere.
and the product you are banning
is SPEECH
no, the PRODUCT is chicken…the OWNER was threatened to be banned until the mayor realized it was against the law and backtracked and now agrees that the CEO should be free to open a store.
DW is right … the owner of the nude dancing club could open up a work boots and Birkenstocks store in place of his nude dancing club.
don’t tell me …
you don’t think nude dancers are the type of people that should be around your community — because they like being nude
or
maybe you don’t like the type of people it attracts? the type that like to watch nude dancing?
“the owner of the nude dancing club could open up a work boots and Birkenstocks store in place of his nude dancing club.”
but the owner chooses FREE SPEECH
you are BANNING his FREE SPEECH
he does not want to sell birkenstocks
he wants to express himself
any community is free to pass a ban on a particular product, and entertainment, dancing or otherwise, is a product. But when a product is banned, everyone is equal in not being able to sell that product. In Boston, the mayor at first wished to allow OTHER owners to sell the product, Chicken, but ban ONE man from selling that product due to his personal views. Unconstitutional, as the mayor later admitted.
tsk, tsk, tsk…
NO LISAB… free speech is not completely unfettered speech. One is not allowed to yell FIRE in a crowded theatre (unless there is a fire that is).
Who is banning Speech… except the people who want this CEO to not speak and not sell chicken.
“Discriminate means that I take an unbiblical view of someone and hold that against them.”
you do
every day of your life
365…no, again, you are wrong. If a product is banned, then ALL POTENTIAL OWNERS cannot sell it. Your mayor in Boston wanted to allow some owners to sell chicken and prevent other owners, due to differing personal beliefs. Unconstitutional, as he later admitted.
“free speech is not completely unfettered speech.”
but … but …
you are saying you can ban FREE SPEECH because you don’t like it
the nude dancer is not yelling fire in a theater
just dancing
368…name an example of an unbiblical view of someone that I have?
370–entertainment is a PRODUCT. The business is open to make money off those who wish to pay to see the product.
I must leave for my commute home. I will respond to lisab’s limited understanding of the limits on free speech.
When did nude dancing become speech. All the same, there are limits to free speech typically found in the pornography cases where it is determined that the purient interest exceeds the community norms.
Or in the words of one justice… I know obscenity when I see it.
Are the cooked chickens obscene? OH my… I thought the golden batter meant the chicken wasn’t naked.
“If a product is banned”
but since the product is free speech
you are banning free speech
because it is unbiblical i suppose
——————————
i suppose adam and eve would be ok once they got their fig leaves
All the mayor has to do is ban them and then give Chick-fil-a an optional $1 billion dollar tax if they want to operate in the city
The mandate is a tax!
374…I am sure you know the story well, Adam and Eve (not Adam and Steve) lived in innocence in the garden and were clothed with God’s righteousness–so they needed no clothes before they sinned.
yep those sandwiches are tainted with their owner’s religious speech…wait are the sandwiches the speech or the owners personal opinion the speech???
“I am sure you know the story well, Adam and Eve (not Adam and Steve) lived in innocence in the garden and were clothed with God’s righteousness–so they needed no clothes before they sinned.”
right
that’s from the story made up before the invention of the wheel isn’t it?
do zoning laws take into account the religion of the one applying for it?
378…Jesus believed the genesis account is real.
and
it will be zoning laws which keep chick fila out
that will be the reason they are denied. that is how walmart was denied
SoHope…out for the night…later.
“Jesus believed the genesis account is real.”
jesus? the guy who lived 2,000+ years ago?
before the printing press?
Tim and judyt are sane, standing next to lisab.
which does not say much for the company you keep
NYCmike,
if a company ceo said,
“we don’t like no n-words in our company”
and you still let them have a business license, then at least you are consistent
but
it is doubtful they would get one in any major city. why? because by offending a minority group there would likely be problems.
walmart could not get a license for years
“walmart could not get a license for years”
-and what was their “crime”?
Posted from Chick-fil-a…..I’ve met some sexually confused people in my life, but poor Lisab might be the most confused. Not only does she not understand the difference between private citizen engaging in free enterprise and an elected civil servant, but she does’t understand that it is your government that is prohibited from discriminating private citizens may hold personal opinions that some may find inequitable. But the most outrageous evidence of Lisa’s confusion is evident in her not understanding the the obscenity laws that control nude dancing do not apply to the selling of chicken sandwiches. I’ve known lesbians who were emotionally confused train wrecks….but Lisab might be the only duke that can’t tell the difference between a vagina and a chicken breast.
Dinner over….must drive the 90 minutes home….so insult me all you want in my absence. When I get home I will try to find some pictures of chicken sandwiches and some porn shots of female body parts. It just breaks my heart that lisab might be so crazed because she bas been licking a chicken. Breast all this time and can’t make it come…
383…Jesus was alive on earth slightly less than 2000 years ago, and it doesn’t matter when the printing press was invented. Maybe you didn’t know, but before the printing press, professional scribes were hired to make hand-copies of books, and they were pretty good at it.
