It appears Public Policy Polling is picking up right where they left off and flooding the zone with polls all over the country for the races in 2014. This afternoon, they give us some General Election numbers for the gubernatorial and US Senate races in Oregon.

California has 35 million people- their voter turnout was unremarkable compared to the rest of the west coast. In fact, a fair bit lower than Oregon or Washington State. No, it’s just that liberal when the cities are excited. I do think some vote fraud goes on at the margins in some large urban counties (Philly is one), possibly enough to steal a close election – they almost did it in 2000, certainly did it in Minnesota in 2008 and probably Connecticut Gov race in 2010 (as the margin of victory came down to city precincts that remained open an extra amount, and a bag of ballots found days later in one of its cities). So probably California has some irregularities, but only enough to matter in a dead heat, if that.
Why would Nikki Haley run for Senate in 2014, makes no sense. She is running for re-election. Being Governor is so much better if she wants a national profile one day.
70- Primary electorates also can be unforgiving of a governor doing that and then running- it makes them seem as if they feel they are entitled to the seat- one of (several) factors that made Marco Rubio’s job against Crist easier. She’d be better off running for reelection and then waiting out Lyndsey Graham. She’s young still.

Man claims he was blackmailed after visiting porn website
The man was surfing a porn site, and then went on to a Skype session with a woman that ultimately ended with the alleged extortion.
In a case that even makes police blush, this guy got himself into a compromised position on Skype.
“He received an instant message on his computer and he was told that the video was recorded,” said Cottonwood Heights police, Sgt. Dan Bartlett.
“They knew his family, knew his friends and were going to send that video to them unless he signed up for a bunch of adult websites at cost on his credit card,” Bartlett said.
Frantic, the man told police he signed up for as many of the sites as he could and he racked up $150 in charges before he maxed out his credit card.

Two years ago Fox 2 Problem Solver Rob Wolchek got a tip from someone inside Chrysler’s Jefferson North Assembly plant about what some workers were doing at the park on their lunch break.
For several days our TV crews followed some of these workers.
When we showed the video to executives from Chrysler they were embarrassed. The company had just been bailed out by the government and president Obama stood on the floor of the very same plant just a few months earlier. Obama said he believed in the workers and that he believed in Chrysler.
Chrysler was trying to remake its image and the activity in video we recorded certainly didn’t fit the “Imported from Detroit” campaign.
Chrysler suspended two workers and fired thirteen others.
Their cases ended up in arbitration and the arbitrator sided with the fired workers. They came back to work this week.
And now this statement from the auto maker:
“Chrysler Group LLC acknowledges the reinstatement of a number of employees from the Jefferson North assembly plant who were discharged from the company in September 2010 after appearing in a local TV station’s story about their off-duty conduct.”
While the company does not agree with the ultimate decision of the arbitrator, we respect the grievance procedure process as outlined in the collective bargaining agreement and our relationship with the UAW. Unfortunately, the company was put in a very difficult position because of the way the story was investigated and ultimately revealed to the public. These employees from Jefferson North have been off work for more than two years. The time has come to put this situation behind us and resume our focus on building quality products that will firmly establish Chrysler Group’s position in the marketplace.”

Rick Scott has been one of the best Governors in the country. The Democrats would be fools to go with anyone other than Crist. It would have been a tight matchup in 2010 with Rubio had Kendrick Meek dropped out of the race and told his voters to go cast their ballots for Crist.
105- Not sure on that- considering the exit polls- Rubio wrecked Crist-Meek with the Hispanic vote, and probably would have pulled in some of Meek’s Hispanic and Afr-Amer. supporters over Crist- considering he was at an even 49% already- factor in minor parties and he was there already.
Problem is for Crist- will Dem primary voters go for him considering his past record and transparent lack of scruples? Easy for him to get the Specter treatment- particularly as he won’t even have a pro-Dem policy voting record for a year like Arlen did. How likely are primary voters to trust a traitor when a life-long Dem runs against him? O’s endorsement hasn’t counted for jack squat in elections when he isn’t on the ballot over the last 4 years.

It’s tough to see very many, if any, Meek voters voting for Rubio considering that they were all Alex Sink voters. Rubio and Scott pretty much won the same voters.
110 – We’re talking over a million Meek voters- Rubio would have needed perhaps 65,000 of them, assuming none stayed home- which is unlikely considering Meek’s status as an Afr. Amer senate nominee, probably brought out a higher turnout in some urban districts. Rubio would still have won pretty comfortably.
Crist has a hard time winning dem primary, I hope Grayson runs, beats Crist in the primary and then loses his house seat and keeps the Governorship with Scott.
With Grayson in the Governors race Rick Scott would look like a moderate.
Rubio got about 25,000 more votes than Scott, while doing better among Hispanics and Indies than Scott- while Scott himself won by about 70,000.
