An incumbent at 47% and only 5% over a Congressman who represents one fifth of the state does not have a “huge lead.” I doubt we’ll win OR back anytime soon, but Walden could make a real race of it. Franly, though, with his seniority in the House caucus, I doubt he will run.

    Good afternoon, HHR.

The Court should take the proper action and strike down DOMA (interferes with states’ rights) while upholding Prop. 8; if the CA voters have changed their minds (as I believe they have), they will legalize gay marriage in short order, either in 2014 or possibly as soon as next year if the petition makes it to the ballot.

Marv – The History Channel has a great documentary on the 24 hours following the attack. I bet it rolls again this weekend or is On-Demand. The most interesting thing is that we forget how life wsa before instant communication. FDR did not know for hours what was damaged and the size of the Japanese forces. he didn’t think a carrier could carry more than 50 planes (it could) and that 6 carriers were involved so he didn’t expect the damage to be as great as it was.

  20. lisab says:

well after the republicans bombed pearl harbor

he got up to speed very quickly

  21. mtvphil says:

“FDR did not know for hours what was damaged and the size of the Japanese forces.”

FDR was also known to be dismissive of intelligence that indicated that the Japanese were capable of carrying out the attack. Seems he did not think they were smart enough, committed enough, diligent enough or otherwise capable of having what it took to plan and execute the attack.

This is a post I read on line.

The boss must be hopping mad now. CA Supreme Court has revieved evidence of 1.5 Million Fraudulent Votes for Obama that were recorded. This fact and proof of Forged Documents and a Falsified Social Security number presented as “valid” is now enough to move the case “forward”. Florida is doing the same thing. Looks like we may have elections in the new year kids. When CA’s 55 electoral votes are dismissed Obama is done. Sure CA is a Liberal haven but the Courts Justices are Americans who will uphold the Constitution based on the law.

I think I mentioned that here, before. I’m not sure, because I’m pretty drunk.

  42. W. PA Observer says:

48- Particularly if they do a 180 on ideology- this isn’t like Richard Shelby or Nighthorse Campbell switching in 1995 (they’d always been conservative Dems. Or even Linc Chaffee going left-leaning indie , he’d been a left-leaning R.) Crist ran as a conservative in 2006, ran as a conservative in 2010 until he realized Rubio would beat him like a drum, so he ran as a third-party centrist and was beaten like a drum, now he’ll run as a liberal.

This is probably even more craven then Specter switching, and we saw how that worked out.

  43. W. PA Observer says:

But yeah- same reason why traitors are never really trusted by those they defect to.

How can you possibly trust the loyalty or integrity of a man who would brazenly betray his own side/oaths/etc, when he swears new oaths to you? All an insurgent Dem would need to do against him is run his old ads without comment.

I mean sure, there are plenty of people who change ideology over time- but usually before they go into politics- and not over a two to four year span where it’s clearly for expediency.

    votes detected.

  60. Brandon says:

Susy, do you actually believe that is true?

  61. W. PA Observer says:

California has 35 million people- their voter turnout was unremarkable compared to the rest of the west coast. In fact, a fair bit lower than Oregon or Washington State. No, it’s just that liberal when the cities are excited. I do think some vote fraud goes on at the margins in some large urban counties (Philly is one), possibly enough to steal a close election – they almost did it in 2000, certainly did it in Minnesota in 2008 and probably Connecticut Gov race in 2010 (as the margin of victory came down to city precincts that remained open an extra amount, and a bag of ballots found days later in one of its cities). So probably California has some irregularities, but only enough to matter in a dead heat, if that.

  62. Bobby says:

Why would Nikki Haley run for Senate in 2014, makes no sense. She is running for re-election. Being Governor is so much better if she wants a national profile one day.

  63. W. PA Observer says:

70- Primary electorates also can be unforgiving of a governor doing that and then running- it makes them seem as if they feel they are entitled to the seat- one of (several) factors that made Marco Rubio’s job against Crist easier. She’d be better off running for reelection and then waiting out Lyndsey Graham. She’s young still.

  64. Diogenes says:

GOP needs more women in the senate anyways. This “war against women” bs has to go as does all the race-baiting dems do.

  65. jason says:

” Looks like kudlow and rand Paul like my idea of a “strategic retreat”. By voting present, no GOP prints would be on the ensuing recession. The democrats would own it, higher taxes, higher spending, larger debt, exploding deficits, and bigger government. The whole kit and kaboodle”

    This is very naive.

They don’t care. They want to destroy the middle class.

All this would do is guarantee them power for a generation. Money is power.

ILLEGAL ALIEN GETS FREE KIDNEY TRANSPLANT…

As an illegal immigrant, Jorge Mariscal waited eight years for a kidney transplant he feared would never come.

His persistence paid off Thursday when he underwent the procedure at Loyola University Medical Center.

After years of uncertainties, Mariscal said he’s excited about his future and grateful for the help he received. But he remains frustrated with a health care system that he worries might leave out an untold number of illegal immigrants in need of lifesaving treatments.

“Why can’t we be treated the same?” he asked while sitting in his hospital room. “Health care should be a human right, not a privilege. At least give us the chance to fight for our lives with dignity.”

    DETROIT (WJBK) –

Two years ago Fox 2 Problem Solver Rob Wolchek got a tip from someone inside Chrysler’s Jefferson North Assembly plant about what some workers were doing at the park on their lunch break.

For several days our TV crews followed some of these workers.

When we showed the video to executives from Chrysler they were embarrassed. The company had just been bailed out by the government and president Obama stood on the floor of the very same plant just a few months earlier. Obama said he believed in the workers and that he believed in Chrysler.

Chrysler was trying to remake its image and the activity in video we recorded certainly didn’t fit the “Imported from Detroit” campaign.

Chrysler suspended two workers and fired thirteen others.

Their cases ended up in arbitration and the arbitrator sided with the fired workers. They came back to work this week.

And now this statement from the auto maker:

“Chrysler Group LLC acknowledges the reinstatement of a number of employees from the Jefferson North assembly plant who were discharged from the company in September 2010 after appearing in a local TV station’s story about their off-duty conduct.”

While the company does not agree with the ultimate decision of the arbitrator, we respect the grievance procedure process as outlined in the collective bargaining agreement and our relationship with the UAW. Unfortunately, the company was put in a very difficult position because of the way the story was investigated and ultimately revealed to the public. These employees from Jefferson North have been off work for more than two years. The time has come to put this situation behind us and resume our focus on building quality products that will firmly establish Chrysler Group’s position in the marketplace.”

Rick Scott has been one of the best Governors in the country. The Democrats would be fools to go with anyone other than Crist. It would have been a tight matchup in 2010 with Rubio had Kendrick Meek dropped out of the race and told his voters to go cast their ballots for Crist.

  97. W. PA Observer says:

105- Not sure on that- considering the exit polls- Rubio wrecked Crist-Meek with the Hispanic vote, and probably would have pulled in some of Meek’s Hispanic and Afr-Amer. supporters over Crist- considering he was at an even 49% already- factor in minor parties and he was there already.

Problem is for Crist- will Dem primary voters go for him considering his past record and transparent lack of scruples? Easy for him to get the Specter treatment- particularly as he won’t even have a pro-Dem policy voting record for a year like Arlen did. How likely are primary voters to trust a traitor when a life-long Dem runs against him? O’s endorsement hasn’t counted for jack squat in elections when he isn’t on the ballot over the last 4 years.

  98. Walt--“Why can’t we be treated the same?” says:

If former governer Crist has a problem with his leg and had to use a walking support he would be:

    “Crist on a crutch”.

Which is very similar to what one of my high school coaches used to say when we messed up. (along with “Ch***t’s Sake” and “Jesus Wept”)

Yes, he was a religious man…

  99. Walt--“Why can’t we be treated the same?” says:

Has Bob Costas been on TV yet calling for the banning of alcohol and automobiles as a result of the latest tragic deaths involving NFL players?

    Just wondering…

  100. Bitterlaw says:

Walt – It is the fault of the automobile culture in America.

  101. Tommy_Boy says:

#105 He won 55% of the Hispanic vote and Republicans typically win a majority of the Hispanic vote in Florida in strong Republican years. Scott won 50%.

It’s tough to see very many, if any, Meek voters voting for Rubio considering that they were all Alex Sink voters. Rubio and Scott pretty much won the same voters.

  102. W. PA Observer says:

110 – We’re talking over a million Meek voters- Rubio would have needed perhaps 65,000 of them, assuming none stayed home- which is unlikely considering Meek’s status as an Afr. Amer senate nominee, probably brought out a higher turnout in some urban districts. Rubio would still have won pretty comfortably.

  103. Michael says:

Crist has a hard time winning dem primary, I hope Grayson runs, beats Crist in the primary and then loses his house seat and keeps the Governorship with Scott.

With Grayson in the Governors race Rick Scott would look like a moderate.

  104. W. PA Observer says:

Rubio got about 25,000 more votes than Scott, while doing better among Hispanics and Indies than Scott- while Scott himself won by about 70,000.

  105. AuH2ORepublican says:

#101, lisab, what exactly were those Chrysler employees doing during theiir lunch break?

  106. kickass says:

    ppp ky poll
this is not really immediately relevant
but our ky poll is finding that hillary clinton lead rand paul and marco rubio in h2h’s there.
clinton’s strength in ky suggests demns could still be competitive insome of theses states in the future and it’s more obama than the party.

  107. Rasmatazz says:

In Louisiana last night, Boustany, the Republican conservative beat Landry, the Tea Party candidate,by 20% for the Congressional seat.
As importantly, the GOP candidate won the Supreme Court race and Republicans now have a 4-3 advantage in the State’s High Court.
It is amazing how in a few election cycles,Louisiana,Arkansas and West Virginia have become solid Republican States on a federal level.
With good candidates, the GOP will pick-up those States’ Senate seats in 2014.

  108. Bitterlaw says:

With good candidates, the GOP will pick-up those States’ Senate seats in 2014.*

*Too bad the GOP has a curious definition of “good candidates” at times.

  109. Brandon says:

Susy, do you believe Obama was legitimately elected? Or was it because of “fraudulent votes”?

  110. Rasmatazz says:

    #117
    The Republicans would win with:
    Cassidy in LA
    Cotton in Arkansas
    Capito in West Virginia

  111. Brandon says:

I guess Rick Scott must have been a Sarah Palinite for TB to have such a big crush on him.

  112. W. PA Observer says:

115- PPP recognizes that their party post-Obama is in deep **** if Clinton doesn’t run- the power vacuum is pretty heavy – Cuomo and then…?

  113. Bubu says:

” clinton’s strength in ky suggests demns could still be competitive insome of theses states in the future ”

    zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz….

KY is trending R, it is gone for Dems at the Presidential level.

Romney won by 23 in a state that Bill Clinton carried twice.

Like in Arkansas, Louisiana, Tennessee and now Missouri, too many whites have switched to Republican.
