Open Thread Sunday

The final election from 2012 is in the books as Charles Boustany defeated Jeff Landry in a battle of two Republicans in Louisiana. According to his website, Jeff Landry was endorsed by the recently retired Jim DeMint.

This happened yesterday, but honestly, I thought Charlie Crist switched to being a Democrat years ago. So I am a little surprised this was such big news yesterday.

Football picks one post down…enjoy the rest of your weekend….

I am glad Landry lost, Boustney would have been a big blow if the GOP lost him, look at Ll the years of experience that the GOP would have lost

Just saw Bubu on the other thread.

    Bunu=Bubu ???

    Bubu = satire of Bunu.

Add This Group To Obama’s Winning Coalition: ‘Religiously Unaffiliated’
    by LIZ HALLORAN

The big demographic story out of the 2012 presidential election may have been President Obama’s domination of the Hispanic vote, and rightfully so.

But as we close the book on the election, it bears noting that another less obvious bloc of key swing state voters helped the president win a second term.

They’re the “nones” — that’s the Pew Research Center’s shorthand for the growing number of American voters who don’t have a specific religious affiliation. Some are agnostic, some atheist, but more than half define themselves as either “religious” or “spiritual but not religious,” Pew found in arecent survey.

  6. W. PA Observer says:

5- Been true for a long time – I think the “spiritual but not religious” demographic has always been liberal, they just formally identified as liberal members of their background back when there was more of as stigma for being “unchurched”.

  7. Bitterlaw says:

God is a Democrat. Deal with it, SusyQue. You told us God would not let Obama win. God had the last laugh.

  8. bio mom says:

We are over a month since the election and today there are three articles posted at Real Clear Politics bashing Romney. I am getting thoroughly tired of this. The man lost. Move on.

  9. Jack says:

It is not enough to shrug and move on. For the future, it is very important to understand why you could not beat a failed incumbent in an environment of rampant unemployment and economic angst.

You may be smitten with Mitten, but those of us who are not have no desire to excuse incompetence and sloth.

  10. jason says:

    Mitt was our best candidate.

    Deal with it.

  11. Jack says:

Mitt was a MA liberal with government-run healthcare as his crowning achievement.

What, Lincoln Chafer was not available?

  12. Michael says:

    Go Penn State!

  13. Bitterlaw says:

I wonder if Jack has Akin, Santorum and Draft Palin bumper stickers on his car.

Lt. Gov. Bolling: Ron Paulians took over Virigina

  21. Emerica says:

Ron Paul endorsed Ken Cuccinelli when he ran for Attorney General, and Cuccinelli spoke at LPAC.

IDK if he’s perfect, but Virginia is a crucial state, and we want the right people running it.

Bears worst 8-5 team in league.

    Discuss.

  36. jason says:

    I am sure a whiner will appear in 3, 2, 1….

  37. jason says:

The Vikings were almost a winning team when the game started, so its understandable.

  38. Cory says:

Sorry, this whiner is a little late.

    STFU Michael.

  39. jason says:

Nice run. Ravens giving away the game.

  40. jason says:

Its a bonus Michael when the whiner is a Marxist.

  41. jason says:

I hope Dave isn’t on suicide watch. That’s a tough loss.

  42. Bitterlaw says:

Where’s the Bitterlaw-Author Sports update, El Patron?

  43. jason says:

Bitter I think we will win on Tuesday even if Yolanda(o) endorses us.

  44. Bitterlaw says:

When Author gets back from doing his girlfriend’s chores, he can post the Bitterlaw-Author Sports Update.

  45. Bitterlaw says:

jason – Tim just picked up the endorsement of Occupy Atlanta.

  46. Bitterlaw says:

I bet Author just volunteered to do more errands rather than show up here. I have taken crap for the last 8 weeks after Eagles games. Man up.

On another note, Add and Corey won’t be here any earleir than Wednesday.

  47. Mr.Vito says:

Bears may not even make the playoffs at this rate… funny.

  48. jason says:

Looking at the NFC East the best team is 7-5… the Eagles passed up an opportunity, they didn’t have to be stellar to compete here.

  49. JulStol says:

I do believe I’m already on record as endorsing the pro gun, steak barbequing, gentleman from Georgia.

  50. jason says:

Michael stopped posting after the Marxist told him to STFU.

I would call him a wimp but since he is stealing liberal votes from Tim…..

  51. Michael says:

Jason sorry I had to eat dinner, I will start posting again though

  52. jason says:

    Jul is endorsing Tim?

Tim is a big government proponent and big labor lover who never saw an entitlement he didn’t like.

    Politics makes strange bedfellows.

  53. jason says:

” Jason sorry I had to eat dinner,”

Don’t tell me Author’s GF made you do it.

  54. jason says:

Bitter both the Eagles and the Panthers won today! It is a good day! Especially since both teams won over “better” opponents.

  56. Michael says:

Jul get the heck out of here you wimp! Can’t actually agree on anything and instead you hide in the shadows

  57. jason says:

Bitter don’t tell Michael the Eagles and Panthers are playing in garbage time.

  58. JulStol says:

    Jason,

Your runningmate is on the record as being anti rare filet mignon.

  59. Michael says:

Jason, look the Panthers and the Eagles might be able to salvage both of their seasons.

    Panthers schedule:
    @ San Diego (5-8)
    Oakland (3-10)
    @New Orleans (5-7)

    Eagles schedule:
    Bengals (7-6)
    Washington (7-6)
    @ Giants (7-5)

Both teams have one tough game in the end, but the first two games for both the Panthers and Eagles are winnable. Besides, the eagles and panthers are not the trash of the NFL.
Oakland, Jacksonville, and Kansas City are at the bottom of the pit this year

  60. jason says:

    62. I know. And wine. Thankfully I balance out the ticket on both respects.

  61. Bitterlaw says:

jason – I enjoyed the Eagles winning because I don’t see it very often anymore. Unlike Michael, I know it means nothing this year – well, nothing except blowing up Tampa Bay’s season. Bwahahahahahahaha

As for Jul’s endorsement of Tim, it was obviously motived by his Core Principles of Conservatism.

  62. Michael says:

Hey Jason, it looks like its me against you and Bitter, we can count Rim out because Jul just endorsed him

  63. jason says:

” Besides, the eagles and panthers are not the trash of the NFL.”

But boy did I want to.

  64. Michael says:

Hey Jason, it looks like its me against you and Bitter, we can count Tim out because Jul just endorsed him

  65. Bitterlaw says:

Jason, look the Panthers and the Eagles might be able to salvage both of their seasons

    Define “salvage?”

  66. Brandon says:

The only thing the Eagles did today was cost themselves a top 5 pick.

  67. jason says:

Yeah, I can’t believe how Jul kicked Tim when he was already down. Cruel.

  68. Michael says:

@69 being 7-9, beating out a few other teams. Both the Panthers and the Eagles could move ahead of Arizona, Cleveland, and Detroit next week. Maybe salvage is not the best word, perhaps turn around?

  69. JulStol says:

    Bitter,

You would violate (specifically) my 2nd amendment rights.

    Tim gives me advice.

    You’re a (proud) a-hole.

Tim is a southern gentleman who always maintains decorum here at HHR…well, except for when LisaB is involved.

  70. Michael says:

@71 I know! Just after the Panthers (go Panthers) beat the Falcons. Oh well

  71. jason says:

    Salvage?

Well let’s say you are down in basketball by 40 points with 3 minutes to go and your opponent puts in the subs and you only lose by 25.

    Did you “salvage” the game?

  72. Michael says:

Jul, I hardly recall you remaining in decorum so I call that a lousy excuse

  73. Bitterlaw says:

Jul – You can have as many guns as you want. Some people collect stray animals to fill the gaping hole in their lives. You collect weapons. Zzzzzzzzzz

  74. JulStol says:

    Sea turtles, mate.

  75. Michael says:

@75 no, the Bobcats did that two nights ago at Milwaukee though. They were down 40 in the fourth quarter and then marched back to within 9 within 4 minutes. Pretty funny how volatile the game was

  76. jason says:

Tim is a Democrat who supports people who would trash the 2nd amendment in a nanosecond.

  77. jason says:

What has Bitter said against the 2nd amendment?

  78. Michael says:

@77 good one Bitter, I have a quick question. Perhaps if I could have your email, this is a campaign question

  79. Bitterlaw says:

Unlike Michael, I just accept the pain as something I deserve. When the Eagles lose, I know the universe is sticking it to me like it is supposed to.

  80. JulStol says:

    4 cats.

    4.

    Oh, I collect stray animals.

  81. Michael says:

    @81 that’s what I wonder.

If anything it is Jul who tramples on the second amendment by rooting for Kane for Attorney General

  82. JulStol says:

    Jason,

Bitter opposes MY 2nd Amendment rights. Not anyone else, best I can tell.

  83. jason says:

    I think Bitter’s email is ambchr@phillyaholes.com

  84. JulStol says:

Yes, Kane, with her massive and sweeping legislative powers to violate gun rights.

Oh, what? She doesn’t have legislative powers?

    Nevermind.

  85. Bitterlaw says:

To be fair to Jul, I did say at one point that the fact that he can get a concealed carry permit made me realize that there are obviously no standards and they might as well hand firearms to prisoners when they get out on parole.

  86. Michael says:

@83 I except the pain if it is a big loss, but 6 of the Panthers losses this year have be 1-6 points and in all 6 they lead late in the 4th quarter. That is unacceptable after watching it all season long.

  87. jason says:

Well I guess in a selfish way if Bitter restricts Jul’s guns, there will be more guns for me.

  88. Walt--“Why can’t we be treated the same?” says:

Back in the state capitol to do the people’s business until Wed.

What happened on the close games won at the lst minute?

    What happened to RG3?

  89. Michael says:

Jason that is not Bitters email. Jul, she would disrupt them through the judicial wing. Not everything is done on a legislative scale, courts are now making a concerted effort to press legislation, hiding under the allusion that gun/defense amendments/legislation are unconstitutional when they are not

  90. Michael says:

@93 the way courts can do this is when left leaning groups file cases at left leaning judges, and Kane will help to press those cases as well

  93. jason says:

” Jason that is not Bitters email.”

Funny. It’s the one he gives out to his creditors.

  94. Bitterlaw says:

Jul just wants Kane to damage Corbett with incessant attacks about Sandusky. Jul doesn’t give a damn about the rest of us as long as Corbett loses. He wants a Democrat Governor because . . . he is a true conservative?

  95. Michael says:

@98. Bitter I must speak with you immediately, privately about the the campaign.

Btw, Jul is weird after all, he barley won his office last year. So I think he has strange, inter dimensional reasons for what he is doing, but it won’t help us on earth

I didn’t say YOU were against the 2nd amendment.

    So GFY.

  106. jason says:

I am skeptical about Hillary. She will be almost 70 in 2016, she already looks like a hag now.

  108. jason says:

It’s funny how Jul says Tim is a southern gentleman, and then Tim calls me a liar for absolutely no reason.

I was just pointing out that if Jul is concerned about the 2nd amendment, Tim supports a party that is primarily anti-gun rights.

I guess “southern gentlemen” are not what they used to be…..

  109. jason says:

” I knew I chose the right running mate (or did he choose me?)”

  113. Michael says:

It should be noted however that the President still has more passion among those who “disapprove” then those who “approve”. Today, Ras has Obama’s approval/disapproval at 58%/41% and his Approval Intensity at 0.So in the last three days,Ras has had Obama’s approval at:
    Friday- 62%
    Saturday- 52%
    Sunday- 60%
Meanwhile, Gallup and Battleground have Obama’s approval at 50%.
Is Ras any longer a serious pollster?

By the way, last Monday,Ras had the Congressional Generic Ballot at D+11.Today’s should be even more ridiculous.

  165. El Patron AuthorLMendez, For Bitterlaw For Governor says:

Scott Ras relies on polling likely voters only. Because we saw a D+6 electorate this year he’s probably polling for a D+6 polling group. The problem with that is that we don’t know if we’ll see that kind of electorate stick w/ O out of future tickets. D+7 and D+6 happened w/ the Historic messiah of the left on the ticket, but it’s more competitive and even when he hasn’t been on. Even Dem strategists are worried about this and trying to avoid a 2010 repeat when so many Dems decided to stay home.

  166. El Patron AuthorLMendez, For Bitterlaw For Governor says:

as for the bump, yes it’s very real. you can even see it in the slight bump for congress’ approval. the question is if it will stick.

  167. jason says:

    Tim (D) 36%
    Michael (I) 9%”

    Michael won’t get 9%.

And does this poll reflect Jul’s endorsement of Tim? Probably under 30% now.

Of course, Bitter/jason are bracing for a potential Yolanda(o) endorsement today. We have already designated people to the spin room to deal with this problem if it happens.

  168. Scott says:

    Mendez
Please go to Real Clear Politics and check out Obama’s approval and disapproval ratings post-election.Other than one other pollster, which used a PID of D+12 and came up with a 57% approval rating, no pollster has come close to today’s Ras’ 58%.This is a three(3) day bump for Obama in Ras from 53% to 58%. Friday’s Jobs’Report would not create such a bounce except maybe in in Ras’ polling.A PID of D+6 also would not be reflective of such a bounce.
Mendez,in all honesty and sincerity, what would it take for you to recognize Ras’ polling as,at best, poor and not to be taken seriously?(As you know, I think he is a fraud.)

  169. Bitterlaw says:

  170. El Patron AuthorLMendez, For Bitterlaw For Governor says:

“Mendez,in all honesty and sincerity, what would it take for you to recognize Ras’ polling as,at best, poor and not to be taken seriously?”

I haven’t seen it yet. Ive never been a fan of using likely voter screens for approval polls but I have yet to think Ras is a “poor pollster”. I think he brings a lot to the analysis especially in him being the only one to aggressively poll undecideds and find that most of them were apathetic GOPers who didn’t turn out. If Ras has a string of major screw ups in the 2013, 2014, 2015 elections, then i’ll think more about denouncing him. Until then, I still think he’s one of the top pollsters.

Why Obama Won Catholic Vote By Two Percent
    by Frank Camp

So why is it exactly that Obama was able to win the national Catholic vote by two percentage points? I’ll tell you why: ignorance. We live in a country full of people who are too stupid or lazy to take a critical look at anything.
We are told by the media that Obama wants to help the poor by implementing Obamacare and bailouts. Well, it must be true. We are told that all the hubbub about the HHS mandate isn’t a big deal. Well, it must be true. We are told so many things that aren’t true, yet there is such a dearth of critical thinking in this country that it all goes right over our heads.
It reminds me of a quote from Thomas Paine: “To argue with a person who has renounced the use of reason is like administering medicine to the dead.”

I really don’t know why you and Bitter feel the need to harp on this anti-Cutler stuff and are bringing me into it, as Add does not post here anymore and Add and I are very different people to begin with.

  231. Michael says:

Corey, I personally hate the bears after they pulled a win out of their ass, literally against the Panthers. They suck if it takes that long to beat the Panthers (whom I Root for)

And the Falcons suck as well, with a 10 point loss to the Panthers and a 2-point last 00:02 second field-goal kick victory in Atlanta over the Panthers this year.
They are not a real team.

  232. jason says:

Frankly, I give Corey’s whiny “farewell” a 1 on the Maxwell scale.

In the first place, Corey is not obligated to take any so called attacks on the Bears and Cutler personally. I think Cutler sucks and Corey is a great guy.

And nobody is comparing the Ficus to Corey. Corey is a stalwart Romney supporter from the get go, the Ficus was an Obama boot licker for years.

If I was going to take all the attacks on Tebow personally I would have already taken a dive off the bridge into the Susquehanna.

  233. El Patron AuthorLMendez, For Bitterlaw For Governor says:

Corey I dont have beef with the Bears. I actually rooted for them in Super Bowl 41 when I was surrounded by a city rooting for Dungy. I just have beef with this idea Cutler is the best QB evah. He’s not. He’s good, but he’s not an elite QB.

  234. Michael says:

    @244 at least I got a 5

  235. jason says:

“Once again you need to get your facts straight. The Bears beat the Colts this season and the Colts have a winning record”

I don’t think the Colts had a winning record when the Bears played them.

  236. Michael says:

And the Panthers did not have a winning record when they lost either. But who cares, they still don’t, their (4-9) with the Eagles, Lions, and Cardinals, the arm pit of the conference. But I thin they will rise to 6-10 (last years final) by the end of this year with wins against the Chargers and Raiders. They beat the Saints at home this year, but don’t have good feelings when they head to New Orleans.

Is that good bitter? I don’t think I used any incorrect sports terminology

  237. jason says:

” obama won the catholic vote by two percent for the same reason he won women,

mostly because of clowns like akin and mourdoch.

those two hurt the gop far more than COD did.”

    BS

If that was true Obama would not have lost Indiana and Missouri by wide margins, states he basically tied 4 years ago. If Akin and Mourdock didn’t hurt Romney in MO and IN why did he cost him in Florida?

Akin and Murdoch cost the Rs two important Senate seats.

That’s bad enough. And Akin IS a clown. He had a chance to do the right thing and he didn’t. Mourdoch was just stupid. He handed the Dems the sword and knelt on the ground.

  238. jason says:

    ” @244 at least I got a 5″

    From me???

    I doubt it.

  239. jason says:

Maybe we will have an HHR election thread tomorrow…

P.S. I do not plan to watch any part of the inaugration.

  241. Michael says:

@251 do you thin Dave, I mean the Wizard would do that. There would be low turnout, no MD, Tina. Very few number

  242. jason says:

MD is voting absentee I am sure.

  243. Michael says:

@254 we haven’t seen MD in a month, what makes you think he knows about this election?

  244. Bitterlaw says:

Michael left? Who knew? As for Corey, he gets zero Maxwells. You can’t say you’re leaving until you come back. Corey is a good poster and is in no way like Add.

  245. Michael says:

    @257 right

  246. Tim says:

    #243:
The difference is, the Falcons will be sucking in the playoffs.

The Panthers will be watching them, on television.

  247. Michael says:

@25 oly because you won against e teams, face it Tim. The Panthers whooped the Falcons ass in both games, they were just able to save themselves in the first game. A bunch of babies, Ryan will never show that kind of cockiness again.

  248. Michael says:

    @260 is meant for 259.
    E=weak
    Oly=only

  249. Scott says:

TN just became the latest State to say NO to an ObamaCare Health Care Exchange.
I believe we are now up to 21 States saying NO.

  250. Bitterlaw says:

  252. Michael says:

@263 Bitter, you don’t know the Panthers. If they had gotten a field goal in all of those games they would have a 6-7 record instead Bitter. The team is great, the problem is Cosch Rivera and his conservative coaching, they lost to the Bears, they got 5 field goals, all were made in the red zone. Bitter, only two were justified the others they should have gone for it. Rivera and his conservative plays need to stay out, that’s why the Raiders sucked and why the Panthers are hurting now.

  253. rdelbov says:

Small business people are already plotting ways to stay small under obamacare.

TN Gov is very smart to push insurance exchanges unto federal govt.

  254. Bitterlaw says:

“If” is a game for losers, Michael. 28 teams in the NFL could argue they could be 16-0 every year “if only.” The other 4 could be 13-3. As my dad says, “if frogs had wings they could fly and not bump their asses on rocks.”

  255. Michael says:

@267 you are hilarious Bitter, maybe next year the Eagles and the Panthers will make it to the playoff rounds

  256. Michael says:

I always remember this moto Bitter.

Any game is winnable, (I use this a lot for Bobcats games and the PSU basketball games I go to.)

Any game, Philadelphia and Carolina showed that last Sunday

  257. Brandon says:

So for a “great” team, you could only give them a 6-7 record even giving them wins in games they lost?

  258. Michael says:

@270 if you add every game they lost within 6 and which they led in the 4th nc lauding forced OT that would mean a 10-6 team. That is better than a 4-9 team Brandon

  259. Michael says:

    @271 not 10-6, meant 10-3

  260. Bitterlaw says:

Brandon – Michael is young. He hasn’t suffered enough yet.

  261. Cory says:

So, now your point is that if you give them more wins, then they’d have a better record? Michael, STFU.

  262. Michael says:

@274 if you give a team more wins than yes you have a better record

  263. Cory says:

Michael, you are terrible at realizing when people are making fun of you.

  264. Bitterlaw says:

The Eagles are 10-3. Deal with it.*

    *Pursuant to the Michael Rule.

  265. Brandon says:

Michael the Steelers have had a lead in 12 out of 13 games. Let’s give them all those wins. Hey, the Steelers are really 12-1.

  266. Michael says:

@276 your terrible at making fun of people, maybe it is a Marxist thing.

  267. Michael says:

@278 great! Now your getting it!

  268. Emerica says:

    http://www.nationalreview.com/articles/335187/boehner-s-biggest-threat-robert-costa

Boehner gets his first primary challenger.

Not that cantor would be any better but at least bow gene would be gone.

  269. Cory says:

You are also terrible at using “your” and “you’re” correctly. And, you’re terrible at not being a hyper, annoying idiot.

  270. Michael says:

@282 not my fault that your stupid Cory, it was your own decision

  271. Bitterlaw says:

Michael – The Panthers lost to the Chiefs. The Kansas City Chiefs. the 2-11 Kansas City Chiefs. You are not going to convince anybody that the Panthers are a great or even good team this year. Don’t become the Bunu of football.

  272. Michael says:

@284 I am not here to try to convince you of that. Though I will say that KC was probably because of energy and they wanted the win badly

  273. W. PA Observer says:

    So when’s the voting?

  274. Bitterlaw says:

No – The Kansas City win was due to the act that the Panthers (like the Eagles) SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  275. Bitterlaw says:

I think the voting starts at midnight. Do we have any New Hampshire voters?

  276. Cory says:

You are still using “your” incorrectly.

When you say to someone “Your stupid”, it has the effect of making you look ridiculous. You are trying to accuse someone else of being stupid, but you can’t even put three words together correctly to do it.

  277. Michael says:

287 that too Bitter, I didn’t want to state the obvious

  278. W. PA Observer says:

288- I doubt it, but I’ll gladly perform the role of Dixville Notch this time. I’ve made my decision.

  279. EM EN DOUBLE U says:

I cannot vote for the Bitterlaw ticket because his running mate is a wetback.

  280. Michael says:

@289 I am using an IPAD shut up

  281. Michael says:

@292 than vote for me since Tim is not an option since Jul endorsed him

  282. Bitterlaw says:

    Auto-correct is nobody’s friend.

  283. Jay-Tee says:

I will not vote for Bitter, either. He loves the dark-skinned people too much.

  284. Michael says:

@295 I agree, auto correct had made me had to post more correction posts than I want to

  285. Michael says:

    @296 Racist

  286. Brandon says:

You would have loved JT. Racist and homophobic and proud of it.

  287. Bitterlaw says:

Brandon – JT was awesome. He used to declare truces and then flip out over anything even remotely critical of him. I think he believed that a truce meant he could say anything he wanted and never be cahllengesd. He had a certain azguy racism to him. Maybe he was one of the people azguy “knew.”

  288. Brandon says:

I loved how he would randomly capitalize letters in his posts like he had practice writing ransom notes.

  289. Brandon says:

And his brilliant analysis that Wisconsin would never elect Tammy Baldwin because she is a “dyke”.

  290. Michael says:

    @303 get out of here!

  291. Bitterlaw says:

Put an (R) next to a lesbian’s name and I will vote for them over any Democrat.

  292. Michael says:

    @305 Yep!

  293. Bitterlaw says:

I wonder if MD ever lurks. He was so burned out and pissed off after the election that he bolted. Wise man. That A-hole was hurting when he left.

  294. Michael says:

@397 its too bad he is gone. He better be back for the VA and NJ elections

  295. Brandon says:

I know he has to be fighting the urge to post “DEAD TO ME” everyday.

  296. Bitterlaw says:

He was pissed at me for not saying Christie is dead to me. I miss him and wish him well. If he was here, I would say GFY with a big smile.

  297. Michael says:

@309 it is sad, where is Tina? Did we lose her too?

  298. Brandon says:

Tina is on a super-secret government mission.

  299. Michael says:

  300. Bitterlaw says:
