Trump Dominates GOP Field in LA

My enthusiasm for this Presidential Election is waning, but I will soldier on! We have some primaries this weekend and we have a new poll for the primary race in Louisiana showing Donald Trump just about doubling up on Ted Cruz according to Magellan Strategies.

PRESIDENT – LOUISIANA – GOP PRIMARY (Magellan)
Trump 41%
Cruz 21%
Rubio 15%
Kasich 9%
Carson 5%

This poll was March 1st among 609 likely primary voters.

  1. Soccer guru says:

Rubio is exactly where he wants to be.

    Third is the new first.

  2. jason says:

Donald Trump, 1999, considering running for the no, not Republican, Reform Party, explaining that health care was an “entitlement from birth”.

So I’m very liberal when it comes to health care,” he said. “I believe in universal health care. I believe in whatever it takes to make people well and better.”

But, hey, now he is against Obamacare.

    LOL

  3. TruthTeller says:

If Rubio is exactly where he wants to be, he must not want the GOP Presidential nomination.

    Trust Ted.

  4. Walker2016 says:

Trump underperforms in closed primaries and caucuses. Cruz could pull it out.

  5. GeauxLSU says:

I don’t necessarily disagree with this poll but it’s almost reversed from the state wide caucuses where Cruz got 45% to Trump’s 30%. Cruz has scheduled an event on NOLA’s north shore suburbs for Friday and his PAC has been running non-stop ads.

  6. Waingro says:

“But, hey, now he is against Obamacare.

    LOL”

And he’s really not even against it! He wants to keep the individual mandate in place, and his “replacement” plan largely consists of a Soviet-like takeover of all hospitals that the “government is gonna pay for”!

  7. jason says:

Establishment hack, I will be thrilled! I’m already delighted that Donald gets stronger with every attack.”

I am thrilled you don’t want my vote for the fascist fraud.

I have voted for EVERY R since 1984, every primary every election straight party ticket. I have worked in countless campaigns including Rick Perry, John Culbertson, and for other Texas Republicans, and local Rs in PA including Toomey.

You are going to win the GE with Bunus, Donderos, Juls, Alberts, and Soccer Idiots?

You will learn the hard way a bunch of fair weather friend misfits, racists and deadenders don’t amount to much.

  8. Eastman says:

Melania Trump is not qualified to be First Lady.

She would be the first First Lady to pose nude since Letitia Tyler.

  9. Dusty says:

Just voted for Rubio here in NC! The line was very small, and it was mainly white people voting, here in an urban area. Those were probably a lot of Rubio voters.

  10. jason says:

If Rubio is exactly where he wants to be, he must not want the GOP Presidential nomination.

If Rubio is exactly where he wants to be, he must not want the GOP Presidential nomination.”

Heh, the trolls and morons are baiting each other.

    LOL

  11. Senator Orman says:

and it was mainly white people voting, here in an urban area. Those were probably a lot of Rubio voters.”

According to Dondero, all whites are for the racist bigot.

    Could he be wrong again?

  12. bio mom says:

I remember 4 years ago and Cruz reminds me of Santorum then. Santorum seemed this big threat because of his strength in the South but that dissipated as you moved North. But of course there was no Donald Trump equivalent that year. I cannot speak for all women but almost none that I have spoken with about the election likes Ted Cruz. There is just something about his persona that is off-putting to them. I feel that way too. Probably not fair to him but there it is. It would be interesting to see if he has a gender gap, reflecting this or if this is just this particular cohort of women(Mid-Atlantic).

  13. SoHope says:

Trump isn’t oppose to Obamacare he just wants to acquire the naming rights.

Damn, thats a good line I just made up…hope somebody uses it tonight.

  14. jason says:

    Send it in to Rubio.

  15. jason says:

    12. Could be. My wife thinks Cruz is almost as disgusting as Trump. Almost.

I doubt I will be able to convince her to vote for Cruz if he is the nominee but I will give it a shot. She will probably not vote.

If Trump is the nominee, she will probably try to get me to vote for Hillary even though she hates her with a passion.

Her theory is “I prefer a flaming liberal corrupt Hillary than a flaming liberal corrupt bigot Trump who doesn’t respect women.”

    She has a point.

  16. Daines-NE says:

Jason, flaming liberal is the new “Tea Party” according to Trump supporters.

Fascinating how their minds (don’t) work.

  17. jason says:

Looks like Romney’s speech is going to get lots of live coverage.

I am glad the trumpbots thinks this will get them more votes.

  18. jason says:

Trump has already insulted women, Hispanics, immigrants, the disabled, veterans, Israel supporters, you name it.

Now he is going to insult the tens of millions of “establishment hacks” that voted for Romney.

    The fraud is brilliant!

  19. gameboy says:

Does anyone really give a hoot was Mitt Romney has to say?? People need to just relax and let the process play out. Mitt shooting his mouth off will only help Trump.

  20. Trump Sweeps says:

The acceptance phase will come establishment hacks. Currently, you are in the anger and denial phases. It won’t last. You will capitulate.

  21. jason says:

    Cruz Rubio?

    Zzzzzzzz…..

    Another loser in the GE.

I doubt even Rubio/Cruz would have a chance, most people don’t want Cruz anywhere near the WH.

Don’t want Rubio? Ok, I can live with denying Trump enough delegates and picking someone else in the convention.

My whole point since the beginning of this whole process was to win the GE. That’s the prize. I think Rubio is our best shot, but if not him, anyone but Trump, Cruz, Carson or Jeb Bush. Or Christie, now dead to me.

  22. Trump Sweeps says:

    17

Correction. Many more votes. Donald’s strength grows with every attack. Have you not noticed that? Look at the poll above.

  23. Trump Sweeps says:

Ike will be delivering a speech this afternoon.

  24. Trump Sweeps says:

    Nothing can stop us!

  25. jason says:

urrently, you are in the anger and denial phases. It won’t last. You will capitulate.”

    LOL

I would NEVER vote for the racist bigot, not if he was running against Bernie Sanders or the ghost of Karl Marx.

But keep denying that millions of Rs will not vote for this fraud in the GE.

    THAT is denial.

  26. Trump Sweeps says:

You will. We both know that to be the case. You have fallen prey to the media’s narrative on Donald which is all lies. He is a new style leader when one is desperately needed.

  27. jason says:

I am glad the Trumpbots think Romney’s speech will help them.

You wonder if thats the case why they are attacking Romney with such passion.

Usually when someone helps my candidate I thank them.

But then, Trumpbots are not exactly the sharpest knives in the drawer, are they?

  28. Robbie says:

Josh Kraushaar noted today a point I have tried to make here recently. There is far more overlap between the Romney 2012 supporters and the Donnie Klansman 2016 supporters than many realize.

In a mid November poll of NH that showed Donnie Klansman well ahead of the field, the same poll showed Romney would be far ahead of the field had he been in the race even with David Duke’s boy included.

My point is this. Romney is not going to pierce the KKK’s candidate today and render him finished. The media wants Donnie because he’ll lose to Clinton. That said, Romney can speak to the soft Trumpers who voted for him last time and potentially cause them to reconsider what they’re about to do. Doesn’t mean it will work, but better to try.

And given that Romney will attack both Clinton and Mr. KKK in this speech, it opens the door to two scenarios. First, Romney lays the groundwork to enter the race after 3/15 if Cruz/Rubio fails. Second, it lays the groundwork for a 3rd party run.

  29. NYCmike says:

Having jason this unhinged is almost reward enough for the terrible future we face with Madame President, once she dispatches Trump.

  30. Trump Sweeps says:

We will remake the GOP into a party that truly stands for the people.

  31. jason says:

You have fallen prey to the media’s narrative on Donald which is all lies.”

    Those dastardly media types.

They repeat Trump’s own words, show videos of his speeches and transcripts of his interviews.

    The nerve of them bastards!

  32. NYCmike says:

I hope your opinion is correct, Robbie.

I do wonder, if Mitt is able to make it come off in such a way, why he waited 4 years to be so outspoken. The summer of 2012 would have been better.

  33. Trump Sweeps says:

There will be no credible 3rd party run.

  34. jason says:

Having jason this unhinged is almost reward enough”

    Small minds, small rewards.

  35. NYCmike says:

“I would NEVER vote for the racist bigot,…”

-If this is true, then why did Romney seek to kiss his ring 4 years ago?

  36. Robbie says:

Chuck Grassley just picked up a serious challenger in IA.

The Trump effect: turning winners into losers.

  37. jason says:

d given that Romney will attack both Clinton and Mr. KKK in this speech”

    This stands to reason.

When you attack one liberal Democrat, its hard not to attack the other.

  38. NYCmike says:

    “Small minds, small rewards.”

-Shall I ask Bitterlaw to record my “points” for me, as “big intellectuals” like you do?

  39. Robbie says:

36.“I would NEVER vote for the racist bigot,…”

-If this is true, then why did Romney seek to kiss his ring 4 years ago?

    Comment by NYCmike — March 3, 2016 @ 11:27 am

They wanted to prevent him for running third party which he threatened at the time. More importantly, candidates make mistakes.

  40. Trump Sweeps says:

    38

Squawk all you like. We just get stronger.

  41. jason says:

    36. Huh, moron, what does my vote have to do with that?

Romney could have said Trump was Jesus Christ I would still not vote for him.

And today, he is going to say Trump is a phony and a fraud, and I won’t vote for him.

It’s funny how morons think. Trump said that Hillary would be a great President, that’s not important, what’s important was that Romney once said something nice about Trump.

  42. jason says:

-Shall I ask Bitterlaw to record my “points” for me, as “big intellectuals” like you do”

I am sorry, but I doubt any A-hole will give you points, and A-holes are in charge of the points process.

  43. Waingro says:

Romney speaking now. You can get a live free feed off cnn.com

  44. jason says:

Squawk all you like. We just get stronger.

    Excellent.

    Mitt, start “squawking”.

  45. Corey says:

Proud to be a Romney supporter for over 9 years.

  46. Waingro says:

Ok, I’m not a big Romney fan, but he is CRUSHING it right now.

  47. Trump Sweeps says:

The king of the establishment hacks appears. With every word out of Mittens mouth, we get stronger. I invite him to speak every day.

  48. Trump Sweeps says:

He didn’t create his wealth! America knows that is a lie.
Check the polls and the results of the primaries held to date.

  49. Trump Sweeps says:

We are supposed to be worried about how France views Donald. This is a comedy act worthy of Saturday Night Live.

  50. Corey says:

Results thus far through 15 states:

    Trump 34
    Not Trump 66

  51. Trump Sweeps says:

This is the best the establishment hacks can do? I welcome this and sincerely wish Mitt Romney would speak every day.

We grow stronger with each attack.

  52. Trump Sweeps says:

How many primaries has defective clone captured?

  53. Trump Sweeps says:

Eventually all of the support with Cruz will be ours. The Carson voters are moving to Donald.

  54. Trump Sweeps says:

The establishment hacks are now in bed with The New York Times.

  55. Trump Sweeps says:

The numbers for Donald will increase.

  56. Marc says:

Louisiana allocates district dels *proportionally* (not WTM), so they’re likely to split 1-1-1. At-large dels only opportunity to accumulate. Louisiana doesn’t split unviable dels between viable candidates, so Trump wouldn’t get them.

This is what happened in Oklahoma: In each of the 5 districts, Trump, Rubio, & Cruz got 1 delegate, whatever the margins. So 5-5-5 total.

Also there will be a number of unbounded delegates chosen at the state convention.

    #NeverTrump

  57. Bitterlaw says:

He is a new style leader when one is desperately needed.

Is that like the Soviets’ “New Man?”

  58. Trump Sweeps says:

    58

I gather you are unhappy with your chosen profession. I don’t blame you a bit.

  59. Bitterlaw says:

52-56 What is the sound of 1 hand clapping?

  60. Marc says:

Actually all of Saturday states award delegates the same has Louisiana, so everyone reaching the threshold (10% in most states) will get delegates.

    Stop Trump Alliance

  61. jason says:

I am thrilled the R nominee of 4 years ago is helping the racist bigot by calling him a phony and a fraud on national TV.

I hope the racist bigot get lots more help like that.

  62. Marc says:

    Romney joins the Anti-Trump Alliance

Romney urges voters to back Kasich in Ohio, Rubio in Florida, and Cruz/Kasich/Rubio in other states to stop Trump

  63. jason says:

? I welcome this and sincerely wish Mitt Romney would speak every day. ”

    Me too.

I hate to agree with the Trumpbot, but I hope Mitt tells it like it is every day too.

I will take the chance it will help Trump, no problem.

  64. Waingro says:

LOL. Pathetic Christie Kremes doing another “hostage” speech from Trump. Probably to counter attack Romney, who he cut the legs out of back in 2012 with his terrible RNC speech and hug of Barry.

  65. John Falco says:

Speaker Paul Ryan stands out in front of the Supreme Court during oral arguments in Whole Woman’s Health v. Hellerstedt, and tells supporters “We stand with women and the unborn.” The same Ryan, mind you, who passed the two-year Omnibus which funded every bit of what Planned Parenthood is doing.

This, in a nutshell, is why Trump is winning.

  66. John Falco says:

Everyday the professional political class shoots itself in it’s collective ass. This election proves that people are finally ignoring the media hype and taking notice.

These backstabbers are so blind to their own treason and don’t care that we see through their duplicitous talks/actions. They have become emboldened with pride and hatred toward all that is decent.

  67. jason says:

    He didn’t create his wealth!”

No, he bought Hillary and Schumer and others to help him.

  68. Marc says:

    So proud of Romney today.

  69. jason says:

They have become emboldened with pride and hatred toward all that is decent.”

Wow, now there are two words that I would never have thought I would see together.

    Trump and decent.

I guess there is a first for anything.

  70. Bitterlaw says:

I gather you are unhappy with your chosen profession. I don’t blame you a bit.

I am generally unhappy about many things – my girls 7th/8th basketball team is incapable of playing defense. I will be stuck voting for that dirtbag, Trump, as a vote against Hillary. The Eagles QB is not good enough. My new softball team probably does not have enough pitching.

Being a lawyer is just part of it. However, one bright side is that I can laugh at people who think they know more about the law than I do.

  71. Robbie says:

Fantastic speech by Mitt Romney. Fantastic.

  72. John Falco says:

Mitt’s got teleprompters and it sounds like fake cheers and clapping

  73. jason says:

Yep, Romney shows that he has principles and balls.

    Too bad he didn’t win.

But by ripping the racist bigot to shreds, he is doing a fine public service.

  74. John Falco says:

GOP has lost its mind. Failed 2012 candidate on TV beating up on the current frontrunner, not the Democrat opponents. Brilliant, GOP.

  75. Corey says:

Christie should speak with an orange jumpsuit on.

Christie is the Bowe Bergdahl of the GOP.

  76. Trump Sweeps says:

Yes, follow Mittens and split your vote! It matters not. Defective clone will meekley concede defeat after Donald crushes him in his own state. Cruz doesn’t have Donald’s charm or ability to lead. This is over.

  77. Trumpbot says:

We all know Robbie is a great Romney supporter, so who cares what he thinks.

  78. John Falco says:

One thing is clear, Mitt is an establishment WHORE!

  79. Waingro says:

Cue the “Curb Your Enthusiasm” vine for the upcoming Christie Kremes speech! https://vine.co/v/igH3wW1Khe9

  80. Bitterlaw says:

Trump supports Planned Parenthood, too. He just wants them to play accounting tricks to make it seem like they are not getting Federal funding for abortions.

Did AL leave or just change his handle? The new Trumpers seem less intelligent than he was but they are just as delusional.

  81. jason says:

Failed 2012 candidate on TV beating up on the current frontrunner, not the Democrat opponents. Brilliant, GOP”

Sounds like he really thinks this is helping Trump, huh?

    LOL

  82. John Falco says:

    Why do voters hate politicians??
    Just watch Mitt Romney today

  83. jason says:

The new Trumpers seem less intelligent than he was”

    I disagree.

  84. jason says:

    Truth hurts huh?

Give it to the racist bigot Mitt!

  85. Trump Sweeps says:

Romney’s atrack is helpful to Donald. Tonight, Dick Nixon will be condemning Donald.

It is over establishment hacks. Even the media has accepted it.

  86. jason says:

Nobody is more Establishment than Donald Trump.

    Nobody.

This guy got rich on the establishment. Nobody owes more to the establishment, especially the Democratic establishment in NY than Donald Trump.

  87. jason says:

Even the media has accepted it.”

    Hehheh, they LOVE Trump now.

Just wait to see what they will do to him if his nominated.

    Are you really that stupid?

    Huh, don’t answer, rhetorical.

  88. Trump Sweeps says:

    Governor Christie knows a winner.

  89. Marc says:

The Trump bigots don’t like the nastiness on Trump, well they haven’t seen anything yet.

We will destroy Trump come hell or high water.

  90. John Falco says:

I predict this Mittens speech just won Trump not only the nomination, but the election.

I think ALL AMERICANS are going to wonder why this fothermucker didn’t use his time to ATTACK the POS and HRC. It makes it crystal clear there is only ONE PARTY running the U.S. and for McLame, the failed 2008 candidate, to issue a statement agreeing with Romney clarifies it even more.

    Trump WINS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  91. Bitterlaw says:

Jason – Just because Trump gave maximum donations to Hillary (“will be a great President”) and Schumer does not mean that he will not crush them if he wins….Ok…It means exactly that he won’t crush them but he won’t win so we are safe.

  92. jason says:

Romney’s atrack is helpful to Donald.”

Your fellow Trumpbot seems upset about it.

Tell him to relax, this is good for the racist bigot.

The more R votes he loses, the better it is for him.

  93. Trump Sweeps says:

    88

You’re losing and you’re upset. When you finished with your tantrum, we will welcome you to the team.

  94. John Falco says:

Romney is trash, Trump is class. How much did Hilary pay Romney to give that speech and how much did Romney pay David Duke and the KKK.

  95. scooterboy says:

    82. So Jason, you caught that too huh? Lol

  96. Trump Sweeps says:

    John

This helps Donald. Maybe Donald paid him!

  97. jason says:

I predict this Mittens speech just won Trump not only the nomination, but the election.”

So why are you so upset?

Relax and bask in the glow of the most recent R nominee calling your candidate a phony and a fraud.

    It’s all good.

  98. Eastman says:

    Bravo, Mitt!

Not sure it will dent Trump at all, but this is an election where it’s important to take a principled stand.

  99. Trump Sweeps says:

    98 – I am, thank you.

  100. WORDSWORTH says:

751.Trump is his name, snake oil is his game,

He has all the charm of a muzzi armpit,
Using the persona of a gold plated dog turd,
He counts on the gullibility of the unwashed herd,
peel away the crap from this two bit charlatan,
And you will find a genuine dime store harlequin.

  101. Robbie says:

I see Falco’s left Stormfront to come here and attack Romney. Guess he’s run out of anime porn to watch.

  102. jason says:

    82. So Jason, you caught that too huh? Lol”

Right, I never saw anybody so upset when they are getting helped!

Mitt, help them out some more!

  103. scooterboy says:

Falco says the speech helps Trump, yet all he has done is complain about it. Lol

You can’t make this chit up. Falco and Dondero, the dumbchit ticket.

  104. jason says:

    Very good, Walt Wordsworth.

  105. Bitterlaw says:

95.Romney is trash, Trump is class.

Try Dictionary.com. You don’t know the definition of those words.

As for McCain, I will always be proud of my vote for a man who served this country with more bravery and made more sacrifices for this nation than all of his critics combined. I do not agree with him on every issue but I will never stop defending him as a man.

  106. Eastman says:

Thank you, Donald Trump, for putting me and Rosie O’Donnell on the same side of a political topic. Ugh.

  107. NYCmike says:

“Give it to the racist bigot Mitt!”

-Please use commas when needed, THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

“Give it to the racist bigot*,* Mitt!

  108. jason says:

    LOL

  109. NYCmike says:

“As for McCain, I will always be proud of my vote for a man who served this country with more bravery and made more sacrifices for this nation than all of his critics combined.”

-You should move to Harlem so you can vote for Charlie Rangel every 2 years.

  110. jason says:

    108. NYC Moron is right.

    Sorry Mitt, my bad.

  111. Larry says:

    Morning HHR’s!.
High marks from myself for Mitts Speech. Now McConnell has to do the same thing.

    jason,
Ted Cruz is as bad as Donald Trump IMO.

  112. Bitterlaw says:

110 I would thank Rangel for his service. He has earned the right to be wrong on all issues.

  113. jason says:

“Romney pay David Duke and the KKK.”

Ah, so they endorsed Trump for money?

Dang, I thought it was ideological compatibility, after all Trump, Duke and KKK speak the same language.

It was just a coincidence then.

  114. Trump Sweeps says:

    112

    McConnell? Yes, please!

  115. Larry says:

Every Republican Congressional Leader has to downright denounce Donald Trump.

  116. Corey says:

I think IP is Wordsworth. At least he is against Trump.

  117. Trump Sweeps says:

This has become laughable. Is George W Bush next?

  118. Trump Sweeps says:

I am looking forward to VP Christie’s talk.

  119. jason says:

Are you worried? I thought they were all helping.

Relax. Being called a phony and a fraud by the people in the party you are pretending to be a part of is GOOD.

I read it here at HHR.

  120. Don says:

Larry….the one who is bad is your boy, Marco. The people or sick of phonies who don’t keep their word and sell the party out. You and your blind type are responsible for Trump. Ted Cruz is a real conservative. He has kept his word and the Establishment hate him for it. Your boy has gone down in flames – deal with it and stop trashing the one man – Ted Cruz – who will save the Republican party

  121. Trump Sweeps says:

The movement continues and we grow by the day. By the hour if truth be told. We cannot be defeated. Finally a leader with the courage to lead.

  122. jason says:

Ted Cruz is as bad as Donald Trump IMO.”

No, he is not even close to being in the same league.

The only similarity is both would be crushed by Hillary.

  123. jason says:

Cruz is a grandstanding idiot who is about as personable as a doornail.

But he is a Republican and a conservative and he is not a racist bigot, nothing like Trump.

I would vote for Cruz, but most in America will not.

  124. Trump Sweeps says:

    Don

    Defective clone.

I like Ted but he doesn’t have Donald’s charisma and inate ability to know what is important to people.

  125. jason says:

    124. Wow, Trump getting lots of help today.

  126. Trump Sweeps says:

McCain? The establishment hacks really are digging up the dead.

  127. jason says:

I am looking forward to VP Christie’s talk.”

    Was that the deal?

Christie has just become a pariah.

    Good luck with that ticket.

  128. Bitterlaw says:

Trump Sweep – McCain served his country. You type on a blog. GFY.

  129. Trump Sweeps says:

Future VP Christie will hit it out of the park today.

Like the future leader of our country, I have to close a deal soon. I will visit again this evening. Hopefully, more polls will convince you that Donald is the inevitable GOP candidate. We will thrash Hillary.

  130. Don says:

TS…Ted Cruz is not remotely interested in cloning Donald. Unlike Trump, Ted is not a crude, vulgar, piece of garbage. He is a genuine Christian; principled; has convictions that he will stand by. The Bible says a nation gets the leaders it deserves. If Trump or Hillary are elected we know the country is lost. If it is Ted Cruz then we know God hasn’t given up on us yet. Go Ted!

  131. Larry says:

    jason,
The only Difference between Trump and Cruz is you said that Cruz is a principled Conservative and will likely turn the base out. That gets us to 45-46. Trump and Cruz though share most of the same Positions. Both are appaling to Latinos and Minorities and generally speak ill of them.

  132. Ben Rubio says:

Great speech by Mitt Romney! What a shame that we missed to elect him for President! Hopefully all Primary voters watched, listened and will wake up now and chose and vote carefully from now on! What do you think? Please post on my blog too:

    https://strehlspresidentialelection2016.wordpress.com/2016/03/03/mitt-romney-announcement-tomorrow-at-11-30am/

  133. Corey says:

    http://time.com/4246596/donald-trump-mitt-romney-utah-speech/

I did not get to watch the Romney speech, but I just read the full transcript.

My thoughts are that they are profound and eloquent words from the man who should be President of the United States today and who should have sought the office in 2016.

This is a time for choosing and in all their goodness, the Americans who make up the Republican Party will hopefully heed Governor Romney’s words and choose Marco Rubio, or the other two candidates, or virtually anybody else besides Donald Trump, whom even if he was not a certain loser in a general election, would bring recession, danger, and disgrace upon America.

  134. Waingro says:

“Ben Carson’s Michigan chairman switches support to Marco Rubio”

    http://www.mlive.com/news/index.ssf/2016/03/ben_carsons_michigan_chairman.html

  135. jason says:

    We will thrash Hillary.”

    And help her?

No, let’s continue helping Trump by trashing him.

I am all for this new strategy.

  136. John Falco says:

The GOPe really continues to demonstrate its stupidity with stunts like this. Romney was speaking to one group of people only – the Establishment GOPe, echoing to them their own Trump hatred. The American People hate the GOPe and will just add this to the look list of scores that need settling.

  137. jason says:

Corey and I almost never agree, but I like to give credit when due. Sue me.

    Post 135 is excellent.

  138. jason says:

Romney was speaking to one group of people only”

The tens of millions of loyal Republicans who voted for him?

    Yeah, you don’t their votes.

Make it up with OWS zombies.

  139. jason says:

will just add this to the look list of scores that need settling.”

Oh, don’t worry, if the 30% of Rs that support this clown prevail, you can bet the other 70% are going to settle some scores.

  140. SoHope says:

Rush is comparing trump to Goldwater… But in a good way. I guess we have to put up with a landslide defeat in order to get the next Reagan

  141. Larry says:

To David Wissing (Host of HHR)
    Dave,
I didn’t want to do this but I had to. Your Blog has been taken over by the Trump hijackers. You’ll need to put a filter in. This is getting out of hand since Super Tuesday. They’re trying to run over your great Blog. Suspend these Trumpsters so we can get back to some meaningful discussions.

  142. jason says:

“Ben Carson’s Michigan chairman switches support to Marco Rubio”

Dang, I thought the Trumpbot just said Trump will inherit Carson’s votes.

You just can’t trust what you read here.

  143. Don says:

Larry…what you don’t get is that RINOS and people who run on a promise (Marco) and then immediately sell out their voters to the establishment (Marco) turn real conservatives off and the real conservatives sit at home on election day. That is exactly why candidates like McCain and Romney ALWAYS lose. Stop worrying so much about getting people out who never vote republican and start doing the things that get the base of the party to the polls.

  144. Larry says:

    Don,
The Base will not win us the November Election, I’m afraid to tell you.

  145. Don says:

You are wrong, Larry…say sorry argument made for choosing Romney and McCain – wrong then, wrong now.

  146. BayernFan says:

Romney said Trump was the greatest thing since sliced bread four years ago. Now he says Trump is a disaster.

Of course this is the kind of two faced politician talk that the American people just love. /sarc

  147. jason says:

Larry, don’t worry about the Trumpbots. These are not real Republicans or conservatives, they are bottom feeders that got stirred up in the Trump mud.

Right now they are all excited like maggots on roadkill, but they are not going to be here long, this happens every cycle whenever some deadender gets some press.

Dumbdero will go back to whatever racist cesspool he came from, Falco will go back to Stormfront or whatever, and the rest of us will continue here as usual.

Keep the big picture in mind.

  148. Marc says:

He changed his mind just like Trump did on being a liberal Bayern

  149. John Falco says:

Mitt Romney has killed the Republican party. It’s over.

Trump will be the “Rebublican” nominee in name only. Neither he nor the 70 million Americans who support him are “Rebublican”. We’re just using the party to get the White House.

    The Republican party is dead.

  150. jason says:

e things that get the base of the party to the polls.

    Comment by Don — March 3, 2016 @ 12:47 pm”

Nah, you don’t need them, you will make it up with Reagan Dems remember.

And Paulbots. And protectionist union thugs. And OWS disciples.

Trump already decided he doesn’t want the support of Republicans. And guess what, he won’t get them.

  151. BayernFan says:

Trump may be vulgar, he may be a hypocrite, he may be wrong on every issue under the sun…..

But to lazily fall back on the typical left wing garbage of accusing an opponent of bring a racist and/or misogynist etc etc is absolutely disgusting.

I’m not surprised Jason is one of the lead race baiters here. Truly a disgusting person he is. Let alone being incredibly ignorant.

  152. jason says:

We’re just using the party to get the White House.”

    Exactly.

    We agree there.

    Trump was never a Republican.

  153. jason says:

Bayern, don’t worry, nobody is going to keep others from paying for your healthcare.

    Calm down.

  154. Eastman says:

Calling any candidacy a “movement” is creepy.

  155. Marc says:

Larry think of the satisfaction you’ll get when the Anti-Trump alliance take the nomination away from Trump.

  156. Robbie says:

Anime porn has ruined the minds of so many. It’s driven them into the bigoted arms of Donnie Klansman.

What makes it even better is noted drug addict Rush Limbaugh is supporting the Klansman in chief. By the way, between Trump and Rush, they have had seven wives.

  157. Robbie says:

But to lazily fall back on the typical left wing garbage of accusing an opponent of bring a racist and/or misogynist etc etc is absolutely disgusting.

I’m not surprised Jason is one of the lead race baiters here. Truly a disgusting person he is. Let alone being incredibly ignorant.

    Comment by BayernFan — March 3, 2016 @ 12:54 pm

Then maybe Trump shouldn’t have equivocated on David Duke or allowed his son to give an interview to a radio host who supports slavery.

  158. Jeff G. says:

I agree with the Trumpites — burn down the Republican Party. If what Trump stands for is now what the Republican party stands for, then, absolutely, I am all for burning it down. I have no interest being a part of it.

  159. Phil says:

    Romney killed it.

  160. jason says:

Wobbie Troll, I guess you just became a “race baiter” too.

  161. Robbie says:

Donnie Klansman has nailed down the support of white supremacists and the anti-Semites. Now that’s a winning coalition. Maybe Donnie Klansman will burn a cross at the White House and hold a seminar on the “Final Solution”.

  162. Robbie says:

162.Wobbie Troll, I guess you just became a “race baiter” too.

    Comment by jason — March 3, 2016 @ 1:00 pm

Well, I’ve been called a lot of things over the years.

  163. jason says:

Romney said what had to be said.

I hope real conservatives and real Republicans were listening.

But even if they weren’t, watching the Trumpbots squeal like stuck pigs was already worth it.

  164. Eastman says:

    #153–

What do you mean, “to lazily fall back” on calling someone a racist?! When you openly call for people of a certain religious faith to be banned from the country–including, among them, US citizens–that is racist, and it deserves to be called out.

By your logic, if Trump were to burn a cross on Ben Carson’s law, I shouldn’t call him racist, because that’d be “disgusting.”

  165. DW says:

Another day, another new thread, another lack of Trumpkins giving and answer to Trump’s gender gap in the GOP primaries:

    Trump’s gender gap thus far:

    IA: Men+1
    NV: Men+2
    VT: Men+3
    NH: Men+5
    TN: Men+5
    AR: Men+6
    MA: Men+6
    TX: Men+6
    SC: Men+7
    VA: Men+7
    OK: Men+9
    AL: Men+16
    GA: Men+10

There was no indication that Republican women stayed home. Other GOP candidates had no problem getting the women’s vote, especially Rubio.

So how much harder will it be when Trump will have to face a hostile general election electorate filled with democrat and independent women who get all their news from watching The View?

And especially considering he would have to be running against a WOMAN?

Trump’s gender gap in the GOP primary will turn into a canyon in the general election. We have had no explanation how he can win the general election getting 36% of the women’s vote nationally, and getting blown out in states like Virginia.

  166. John Falco says:

After listening to Mitt today and the Congress rolling over for Obama, can there be ANY doubt now that what we got are Democrat operatives in the GOP??

  167. DW says:

” Democrat operatives in the GOP??”

Yes, his name is Donald Trump, and his followers are dem operatives bent on destroying the GOP.

  168. Robbie says:

Back with new marching orders from Stormfront, Falco?

  169. Bitterlaw says:

148.Romney said Trump was the greatest thing since sliced bread four years ago. Now he says Trump is a disaster.

Of course this is the kind of two faced politician talk that the American people just love. /sarc

I think this is a good time to ask BF a questions:

Will you be voting for Hillary Clinton? Trump said she would be a “great President.” His words.

  170. Larry says:

The Chairman of the Republican Governors Association (responsible for electing Republicans to the Statehouses around the Country this year as well as holding onto vulnerable Seats) Governor Susana Martinez of New Mexico has endorsed Marco Rubio for President. In regards to her State New Mexico her Endo is useless as it votes towards the end of the Primary Season. In the bigger Picture though it’s great because it signals to vulnerable GOP Governors and GOP Candidates running against Democrats “Get behind him if you want to win”
    http://www.politico.com/story/2016/03/susana-martinez-endorses-marco-rubio-220166#ixzz41q1J405n
Electablity is running in 4th amongst Candidate Qualities in most of the States who had an Exit or Entrance Poll. However as the Race now moves to Ohio/Florida the Question “Who can win in November” becomes a bigger Issue.

The Virginia Exit Poll is just brutal for Trump and Cruz

Q: Are you satisfied if Cruz wins the Nomination?
    43% say YES
    54% say NO
Q: Are you satisfied if Trump wins the Nomination?
    44% say YES
    54% say NO
Q: Are you satisfied if Rubio wins the Nomination?
    59% say YES
    39% say NO
    http://edition.cnn.com/election/primaries/polls/VA/Rep

  171. GPO says:

Trump in his response im sure will say-

“Here is a man who literally begged me to endorse him 4 years ago- it was quite pathetic actually- “

  172. Bitterlaw says:

I think this is a good time to ask BF a questions:

Will you be voting for Hillary Clinton? Trump said she would be a “great President.” His words.

Come on, BF. No other Trumper will answer the question. You can be the first.

  173. DW says:

174 – its ok bitter, don’t expect a response. I haven’t gotten any valid response to my question about the gender gap.

  174. Greymarch says:

    GO ROMNEY GO!!!

Wont change a single Trump voter, and it’s not meant to.

Romney helps signal to the non-Trump voters that Trump is racist slime.

Romney signals to GOP politicians that you are ruining your careers if you support Trump.

Romney is signaling to GOP donors that Trump is toxic, and if you donate to Trump’s GE campaign (which Trump’s spox already admitted Trump will take donor funding) you are donating to someone who will automatically lose to Hillary.

Thank heavens for honest, good men like Mitt Romney.

  175. DW says:

And I love the gender gap question I asked, especially because it is real data. This is actually how women voted in the GOP primary. It is not theory, it is not a polling sample, it is not speculation. It cannot be refuted that a significant number of GOP women are recoiling from Trump. How much greater will that number be among independent women whose views are much less oriented toward voting Republican?

  176. GeauxLSU says:

Thank you, Mitt! Very brave to go up against the mob mentality of the Trumpkins. He will be crucified but he did the right thing. Until someone reaches the required number of delegates we need to fight on. Then if it is Trump we all have decisions to make about the general election.

  177. Robbie says:

    DW

They’re never going to answer you. They’re too busy watching cartoon porn or blaming Jews for everything that’s wrong with their lives.

  178. Macs CA-25 says:

I thought Magellan was banned for making up polls?

  179. DW says:

“Then if it is Trump we all have decisions to make about the general election.”

    I don’t have to decide…its already done. I will never… NEVER… vote for Trump.

  180. Daines-NE says:

    #NeverTrump

    Here are my options

    1 – Write in a candidate
2 – Vote for Libertarian Gary Johnson
    3 – Leave it blank

The final is dependent on how close Trump would get to winning the GE and destroying this country. I would vote for Hillary. Our country has weathered through it’s share of scandals and lies. It can stand to take a beating from a few more.

At least it wouldnt be World War III

  181. Daines-NE says:

So I apologize to the friends I have made on this blog, but yes I would vote for Hillary if it meant stopping Trump.

  182. GeauxLSU says:

Re# 81…I will never vote for Trump either but my point was until he reaches the required delegates, I will continue talking to people who typically have never heard of Trump U anything about his past positions on issues.

  183. Corey says:

    183. You won’t need to. Plenty of other people will have already done so. You can see what other options are available and exercise your conscience if it comes to that.

  184. Eastman says:

I’m not going to seriously entertain the idea of voting for Clinton. Would I do it if I thought there were even a 1% chance that doing so would keep Trump out of office? Probably. But single votes never make a difference, at least in presidential races, so I’d rather vote my conscience and write in a name.

  185. lisab says:

the main reason why trump is gaining is that the non-trump supporters have become unhinged

the very people who complained for yoears about how ron paul tried to steal delegates, are now trying to come up with ways to steal trump’s delegates

the same people who complain when sharpton et al. cry racism, are now yelling racism just to stop trump

the same people who called people dead enders because they would not vote for mccain, are now repeatedly saying they won’t for trump

if you want to stop trump then stop with the vitriol, because you are actually gaining him support

  186. lisab says:

    my favorite argument is

    rubiobots: ANYONE BUT TRUMP!!!!!!

    others: ok, how about cruz

    rubiobots: anyone, anyone but trump

others: so yeah … cruz then

rubiobots: we need someone not trump

    others: kasich is good too

rubiobots: so then we are all agreed … rubio

  187. Robbie says:

    Go back to your hole.

  188. Corey says:

If Sharpton attributed racism to the Trump campaign, he wouldn’t be wrong, and I doubt the anti-Trump people on the right would claim he was wrong. So, big difference right there.

He’s old friends with Trump though from NYC.

  189. Daines-NE says:

does LisaB possess the ability to read?

I just gave all the possibilities of candidates I would vote for. I don’t recall ever saying “Rubio or bust”

    Get it together woman

  190. Corey says:

Deadenders on McCain vs. Deadenders on Trump?

    Another area with large differences.

Anybody who refused to vote for McCain claimed they did so out of ideological purity.

Even if Trump were right on all the issues, which he isn’t, he would still face this opposition, because he is a deplorable human being.

  191. Larry says:

Strategic Campaigning by Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio? Until yesterday Night Rubio had Events scheduled in Kansas, Kentucky and Louisiana while Ted Cruz had a Campaign Event in Overland Park, KS scheduled.
Rubio cancelled LA, KY Events and has instead 3 Events scheduled in Kansas tomorrow while Cruz cancelled his Kansas Event and is going to LA instead. Both ignoring KY. Cruz to campaign in Maine Saturday and Rubio in Idaho, FL and he’ll make a Campaign Stop apparently in San Juan, PR Saturday Night.

  192. Bitterlaw says:

Daines – This is the worst election of my life. Considering that I lived in Philadelphia and voted for some truly horrible candidates just to watch them lose by 80 points to Democrats who were worse, that is saying something.

I have said that I will vote for the nominee of the Republican Party. If it is Trump, I will do so filled with disgust and self-loathing. Three times, I had the honor of running for office under the GOP banner. I have voted for every Republican in every race on the ballot since 1986. I will not break that streak for one reason. I know that voting for Trump is a vote against Hillary. I hate this choice. I actually lose sleep over it. However, I am committed to voting against her final net margin in the only way that I believe matters.

I find the Trump supporters here to be vile, hateful people. To be counted among them is truly horrible but I am not asking for absolution. I will fight them until the end of this nightmare. I hope that the Republican Party can save itself and nominate somebody else.

I know that it is strange to have friends I have never met or met only once but HHR encourages that. I expect and accept that some will condemn me for my vote. That truly pains me but there is no free lunch here. Perhaps I will change my mind but then I will have broken a pledge which will just cause different pain. To my friends, treat me as you wish. To the Trump morons, GFY.

  193. MikeP says:

When Romeny ran in ’12, he made a lot of predictions about foreign policy, our enemies, the economy. Every prediction can true. It is a shame he was not elected. I am glad he gave the speech.

  194. Corey says:

    “Stealing delegates?”

Nobody is planning to “steal” anything. There will be legal options used, if at all possible, to get the best outcome for the party.

If we were Democrats, the system would already be rigged, with superdelegates, and Trump would not be a factor.

The Paul backers tried to manipulate the process to benefit a candidate that the vast majority of the party had rejected. They had the legal right to do so, but failed, because support was firm for the person who won most of the contests, and even the backers of other defeated candidates were willing to accept him.

The vast majority of Republican primary voters are very much opposed to Trump and will accept virtually any other option.

So, another profound difference in the examples given.

  195. lisab says:

    and regarding illegal immigration

the one thing working people understand is that loads of unskilled undocumented people coming into the country do not help most usa citizens, unless you are highly skilled or own a business.

illegal aliens are allowed to collect welfare AND work under the table. regular citizens cannot do that.

rubio is simply not going to enforce the border, and rich people on both sides do not want him too. why pay $500 to have a citizen mow the lawn of your mcmansion if an illegal alien will do it for $300?

trump managed to tap into the rabble’s anger

  196. Corey says:

You sound like you pride yourself in being among the rabble.

  197. lisab says:

“Nobody is planning to “steal” anything. There will be legal options used, if at all possible, to get the best outcome for the party.”

yeah … that is not how people referred to it when ron paul used those “legal means”

Wer mit Ungeheuern kämpft, mag zusehn, dass er nicht dabei zum Ungeheuer wird. Und wenn du lange in einen Abgrund blickst, blickt der Abgrund auch in dich hinein.

  198. hugh says:

My views line up exactly with Bitterlaw. Well said.

  199. Tom says:

The sad truth is that the damage is done. If Trump wins the nomination he will lose in November because in addition to losing women, independents, millions of Republicans will either not vote for him, or worse, stay home and screw the down ballot candidates as well. If Trump loses the nomination, millions of Trump supporters will stay home with the same result.

  200. lisab says:

“I just gave all the possibilities of candidates I would vote for. I don’t recall ever saying “Rubio or bust”

    read larry’s posts

  201. Daines-NE says:

Wow, LisaB explained why 1% of American’s should vote for Trump. Nice going, are you and Dondero dating or something?

And Bitter, I trust your judgement. If you don’t want to break your streak despite reservations, I can respect that.

  202. lisab says:

    “Another area with large differences.”

    yeah, the difference is,

now it is you using those tactics

  203. Daines-NE says:

I’ve read Larry’s posts. He’s a staunch fan of Rubio. I’m sure he’d vote for Kasich or a compromise candidate too. Since you are a flat out socialist, I don’t expect you to understand basic concepts.

  204. Corey says:

    203. She’s too old for him.

  205. Corey says:

I predict that if it really has to come to it for all of us, Bitterlaw will break his streak.

  206. lisab says:

“Wow, LisaB explained why 1% of American’s should vote for Trump. Nice going, are you and Dondero dating or something?”

i don’t think you should vote for trump

i think you should stop the race baiting and vitriol — which has failed

    and actually make reasoned arguments

  207. lisab says:

yes, larry will vote for a compromise candidate

    named rubio

  208. Corey says:

Reasoned arguments have been made against Trump. Those who would be on the opposite side of the argument do not tend to take to reason though.

And it is a perfectly reasonable argument to suggest that Trump represents racism, bigotry, hatred, and a myriad of un-American values. Just listen to him for 5 minutes.

  209. Daines-NE says:

I’ve made plenty of reasoned arguments. And so have plenty of other poeple here.

He’s spoken out against veterans and minorities (particularly hispanics). He’s a fraud (trump university) and a liar (David Duke). And if you refuse to accept any of those, you can’t deny the fact that he’s crude and lacks the temperment to be president.

Keep digging, I’ll get you a bigger shovel.

  210. Corey says:

He thinks he can shoot people in the head on the street and remain politically beloved.

Where is the “reasonable” rebuttal to that?

  211. Daines-NE says:

#209 – Pretty sure most here would go for a Compromise candidate not named Rubio. He has his faults.

    You have more.

  212. lisab says:

daines, you are the one digging

none of those arguments expressed in that way have slowed trum down … they have just caused trump supporters to give hime more support

when you scream “he wants to build a wal he’s a racist”

the rabble are thinking … “hey, a candidate is actually saying he wants to help me keep my job”

you have to actually explain why trumps policies will cause them to lose their jobs, healthcare, homes etc.

  213. Corey says:

That’s what Mitt Romney did today. Talked about policy.

Trump offers very few specifics and his backers just go completely personal whenever anyone criticizes Trump.

  214. John Falco says:

    Trump speaking now in MA:

Trump: Romney begged me for my endorsement and if I said get on your knees he would.

    Crowd: Huge laughter.

42,500 watching now on rightside broadcasting

  215. Corey says:

“If Trump had said 4 years ago the things he says today about the KKK, Muslims, Mexicans, disabled, I would NOT have accepted his endorsement” – Mitt Romney

  216. John Falco says:

    Corey,
Stop spewing lies and nonsense about Trump not providing any specifics. Go to his website. He is the only candidate with detailed plans on taxes, healthcare, etc. Please provide me with the specifics for any of the other candidates. They only parrot what Trump says.

  217. lisab says:

“He thinks he can shoot people in the head on the street and remain politically beloved.”

has he actually shot anybody or was it perhaps

    political hyperbole?

when reagan said he was going to start bombing russia in 5 minutes were you so outraged?

or perhaps is it that you are upset about a plethora

    (three amigos 🙂 )

  218. Larry says:

    Daines,
Kasich is actually my 2nd Choice behind Marco.

  219. Corey says:

I certainly do not think Romney ever begged Trump for the endorsement. It was a mistake for Romney to take it publicly and I said it on here at the time.

Trump was the one who begged Hillary Clinton to attend his wedding.

  220. lisab says:

“That’s what Mitt Romney did today. Talked about policy.”

romney is a very decent man

  221. Corey says:

Reagan said it as a private joke during the Cold War. It got out and he was blasted for it.

Trump said it publicly and proudly and said it about Americans.

    Big difference.

  222. Corey says:

And Romney also said the same thing about Trump that gets said on here. Yes, he is a decent man and Donald Trump is not.

  223. lisab says:

yes … now it is not your candidate so you are outraged

  224. Corey says:

As Romney said today, the very few policy specifics that Trump has put out would be damaging (Romney did say that Trump is right to want to repeal and replace Obamacare) and that the solutions would make problems worse.

Rubio, Kasich, and Cruz have all outlined detailed policy proposals as have most of the former candidates.

  225. lisab says:

if you want to stop trum, you are not going to stop him by telling his supporters “how stupid they are”

  226. Corey says:

    227. They need to hear it.

  227. Robbie says:

Watching Trump’s rambling, bizarre campaign event. Romney is deep inside his head.

  228. lisab says:

“Rubio, Kasich, and Cruz have all outlined detailed policy proposals as have most of the former candidates”

and if your really do want to help rubio, or kasich or cruz, then you would be wise to start mentioning that to people who are not named

    bitterlaw, MD, tina, walt etc.

because they already agree with you

and people like bunu and julstol will never agree with you

  229. Corey says:

Getting inside of Trump’s head is the easiest thing in the world.

He obsesses negatively over any criticism and he obsesses positively over any praise. If ISIS said he was “strong”, he would be bragging about it.

  230. lisab says:

“227. They need to hear it.”

    they won’t

any more than you heard why you were “stupid for supporting bush”

  231. Corey says:

I’m not so sure Tina agrees with me. I think she is a Trump supporter.

And I certainly do speak out against Donald Trump “in real life” ad have been doing so increasingly. In addition to trying to get Republicans and conservatives to vote in Illinois for Rubio, in order to win him some more delegates, I am trying to get Democrats and liberals to do so as well, because many of them want to be a part of stopping Trump.

  232. PresidentPaul! says:

“The Paul backers tried to manipulate the process to benefit a candidate that the vast majority of the party had rejected. They had the legal right to do so, but failed, because support was firm for the person who won most of the contests, and even the backers of other defeated candidates were willing to accept him.”

Yawn except we knew we weren’t going to win. Those were political statements and a dry run for an election that actually mattered in the future.

If Paul had won Iowa and somehow won nh as well, which could have occurred had he won Iowa, then winning caucus states could have come into play

  233. Trump says:

Romney speech was a signal for Rubio to get out.

  234. John Falco says:

    over 45,000 now

Trump said he helped raise campaign funds for mitt and someone told Donald what are you doing that guys a stiff. Trump I should have listened to him.

Trump seems so relaxed and at ease right now. It’s uncanny! At the same time I imagine Rubio and Cruz are furiously cramming for the debate and memorizing their lines like college freshmen prepping for an exam.

  235. lisab says:

“He obsesses negatively over any criticism and he obsesses positively over any praise. If ISIS said he was “strong”, he would be bragging about it.”

  236. John Falco says:

He is owning Romney. And yes, it gets him another entire news cycle.

  237. Corey says:

Romney said he would not be able to argue the policy differences. I imagine he is proving Romney right in how he was going to respond.

All that hatred inside of Trump against anyone who disagrees with him on everything has to be slowly eating him up inside. Nobody can sustain that forever.

  238. John Falco says:

This is a WINNER for Trump. Every cable News Network is carrying his entire rally. Mittens was killed and Trump gets more of his message out.

  239. Bitterlaw says:

198.You sound like you pride yourself in being among the rabble.

True. I am an Eagles fan. My basketball team last year was called a bunch of thugs for the way we played defense. We had an 8-5 record and nobody ever fouled out but we attacked, damn it.

  240. Corey says:

I was talking to lisa in post 198.

  241. Bitterlaw says:

Trump gets more of his message out.

    This is Trump’s entire message:

Build a wall. We don’t win any more. I hate Muslims and Hispanics. I hate women. I will make deals. Make America Great Again.

That’s it. There is no more substance to it.

  242. SoHope says:

Romney was was signaling for stategic voting. He could call for it publicly without it hurting a candidate. If Rubio or Cruz suggested up publicly it would hurt them.

  243. Bitterlaw says:

Sorry, Corey. Even though I wear a suit to work, I can hang with the rabble.

  244. Corey says:

It shows why it turned out to be a good thing why Romney did not endorse a candidate already, I suppose.

  245. John Falco says:

Another nail in the argument that Trump can’t beat Hillary:

Trump’s best county so far? Buchanan, Va, a traditionally Democratic County at the heart of Virginia coal country. Trump won 69% of the vote.

  246. Corey says:

Democrats liking Trump more than real Republicans liking Trump should not be a surprise but you seem to be missing the meaning of the word “traditionally” there. Something tells me that Establishment Mitt Romney probably won that county in landslide fashion.

How does it show Trump taking votes that do not go Republican these days in general elections?

  247. Eastman says:

Folks, Trump has guaranteed that America will win again if we make him president. He has a super-secret plan for defeating ISIS, but he can’t tell us, because that would tip off ISIS. Anyone who opposes him will “be sorry.”

    That’s good enough for me.

    Trump-Akin ’16

  248. NYCmike says:

“any more than you heard why you were “stupid for supporting bush””

  249. Bitterlaw says:

Trump’s best county so far? Buchanan, Va, a traditionally Democratic County at the heart of Virginia coal country. Trump won 69% of the vote.

Are you really this stupid? WTF does this mean? he won 69% of REPUBLICANS in a Democrat-controlled County. How does this mean that he could win Independents and Democrats?

  250. Corey says:

I am sure that Todd Akin cares too much about moral values and the sanctity of life to ever agree to run with someone like Trump.

  251. Robbie says:

  252. Corey says:

I wasn’t stupid for supporting Bush. I believe I was right. He had an actual record that I liked and was consistent and he laid out actual policy positions, complete with details, that I tended to agree with.

Big difference between how I picked a candidate and those who got suckered by a con man.

  253. scooterboy says:

    251.Are you really this stupid?

    Yes, he is.

  254. BayernFan says:

Congrats to Mitt Romney, winner of the Rockefeller-Scranton Award for Political Impotency.

Seriously, and sadly, Mitt looks like an idiot now.

  255. Corey says:

And when it became clear to me that Jeb Bush did not have a path to win and that it was more important to beat Donald Trump, I decided to support someone other than Jeb Bush.

Since it should be clear that Donald Trump does not have a path to beat Hillary Clinton, Trump supporters should eventually decide to support someone other than him, if they really want to beat Hillary.

  256. Corey says:

I don’t get how imploring the party to not reject conservatism is akin to Rockefeller Republicans.

Romney framed his speech as the modern day version of Reagan’s Time for Choosing on behalf of Goldwater vs. the paternalism of the Great Society.

  257. NYCmike says:

    “I believe I was right.”

-Trump supporters may say the same in November after he loses.

  258. Robbie says:

Yeah. Trump made joke about oral sex, but Romney’s the idiot.

  259. PresidentPaul! says:

Rubio ran nonstop negative ads in Virginia and it seemed to work pretty well against Trump.

That’s going to be the model going into Florida, which Trump should absolutely be aware of.

That’s why he needs to run hard against this.

  260. Daines-NE says:

#215 – How dense are you? It is clear that the man has criticized veterans (particularly the ones who get caught). He has criticized hispanics. He supports eminent domain. He is sexist (look at the comments made on the apprentice).

His demeanor is not acceptable, and it demonstrates that he does not have the temperament to be president. He should absolutely not be in charge of the national security apparatus that keeps this country in one piece.

If you cannot grasp this basic concept, then you cannot be reasoned with, and therefore, trying to engage in an intelligent conversation with you is not possible.

  261. Bitterlaw says:

I decided to support someone other than Jeb Bush.

    Only after JEB! dropped out.

  262. Eastman says:

Come November, Mitt is going to look like a prophetic genius. Much as he does now, in hindsight, for warning about Russia being our biggest threat.

  263. Corey says:

I don’t know what exactly Donald said. Maybe he was going for Gayest Statement of the Day on the campaign trail. I know that Mitt is a handsome man.

  264. Corey says:

    263. Wrong. I beat him to it by about 15 minutes.

  265. Corey says:

  267. Daines-NE says:

  268. NYCmike says:

“#215 – How dense are you?”

It depends where Cruz plays it in Florida.
Here is the 2012 FL Primary Map (Romney vs Gingrich)
    http://elections.nytimes.com/2012/primaries/states/florida
I realize that we have now 4 Candidates running. Trump needs to do well in the Panhandle (what Gingrich did in 2012). Maybe Cruz can be helpful binging down Trumps Vote in Northern FL
Rubio will hold a Jacksonville Rally with Mayor Lenny Curry and Rep. Ander Crenshaw Saturday.

  342. jason says:

I don’t think Cruz would sellout to Trump.

He can probably read the same polls as everyone else even if he was tempted.

He is popular in Texas, he has a following, I doubt he would go with the bigot.

I could be wrong, power corrupts, that’s for sure.

“Ted Cruz is saying he would have dropped out if he lost Texas (easy for him to say that now), and that he is going to go to FL to campaign for himself. They think they can push Rubio from the race if he loses to Trump.”

Rubio will not be in position to run in 2020 if he loses Florida. That means his political career is over he if suffers a loss to Trump there not just this campaign cycle.

So Rubio is either delaying to see if he can get something going with a plan to drop out before Florida or he is just planning on ending his political career forever, which is possible as well.

Cruz has never been a team player. Like I said, I think Cruz is fine with Trump.

I understand their thinking. But they severely miscalculated appetite for a 3rd Bush presidency vs 2nd Romney run within GOP. The real contrast is Romney vs Rubio. Had Romney run, I think he would have been in afar stronger national position in Summer 2015 than Bush or any other candidate. He’d have probably polled around 30% by then and there wouldn’t have been as much room for Trump to grow. Just by suggesting he was interested, he jumped to the front of the field in late January 2015.

We also know Romney likes to go on the attack in the primaries so I think he’d have gone hard at Trump in August 2015.

  378. Corey says:

Amazing that this is the same lisab, who made 500 posts a day a while back about why it didn’t matter that there was a market desire for Chik Fil A. The fact that they did not share her views on same sex marriage meant they should not be welcomed in Massachusetts. She associated anyone who disagreed with bigotry and hatred.

I don’t think so. I think I would still have supported Rubio but Rommey was a good fall back.

Romney was battled tested and could have been ready.

Jeb was rusty, out of touch and his strategy of running a GE campaign before securing the nomination was disastrous.

  385. PresidentPaul! says:

CNN BREAKING: Romney has instructed closest advisers to explore the possibility of stopping Trump at the Convention http://www.cnn.com/2016/03/03/politics/mitt-romney-stop-trump-at-convention/index.html

  415. DW says:

409 – keep in mind that the primary electorate is much more volatile than the general election state polling.

General election there are very slow, modest ups and downs. But here in the GOP primary, especially with a clown like Trump in the mix…we had a poll of AK with Trump way ahead. Cruz won. We had polls of OK, THREE of them, all showing Trump ahead of Cruz 8, 12, and 13 points, but Cruz won by 6.1. Roughly a 18 point swing.

LA has that sort of feel to me. Its a neighbor of Texas. Rubio probably siphons off a lot of urban and Catholic support, Trump will get his moonbats, but LA is a closed primary. How many of these moonbats show up in the polling but will learn they cannot vote in the GOP primary on Saturday?

I also suspect Trump supporters, not all of them, but some will fall prey to the notion that the election is over and they won’t show up. Remember, by Trump’s own bragging, they aren’t very educated.

So even though the RCP average right now is Trump 42.5 / Cruz 23.5 / Rubio 15 / Kasich 7 / Carson 5.5, I could easily see final results like this:

    Cruz 37
    Trump 35
    Rubio 18
    Kasich 9
    Wasted votes 1

This only has Trump dropping 7.5 off the RCP average, and Cruz gobbling up most of Carson and the undecided.

Also bear in mind that the new LA polls out today are mostly taken on 3/1, prior to people knowing just how strong Cruz turned out in TX and OK. There will be significant regional momentum for Cruz as a result.

    1. Healthcare: “Control Healthcare and you control the People”
    DONE !!

2 Poverty: Increase the Poverty level as high as possible.” Poor People are easier to control and will not fight back if the government is providing everything for them to live.
    DONE!!!

    3. Debt: Increase the National Debt to an unsustainable level.” That way you are able to increase Taxes, and this will produce more Poverty.
    DONE!!!

    4. Gun Control: Remove the ability to defend themselves from the Government. That way you are able to create a Police State – total local control.
    ALMOST THERE!!!

    5. Welfare: Take control of every aspect of their lives (Food, Livestock, Housing, and Income).
    DONE!!!

    6. Education: Take control of what People read & listen to; take control of what Children learn in School.
    ALMOST THERE!!!

    7. Religion: Remove faith in God from the Government and Schools. ALMOST THERE!!!

    8. Class Warfare: Divide the People into the Wealthy against the Poor. Racially divide. This will cause more discontent and it will be easier to Tax the Wealthy with full support of the voting Poor.

Usually when you have 35% you have some kind of goodwill from at least part of the 65% that don’t support you.

In this case you have 65% who really despise the guy with 35%.

Good luck winning a GE with that type of division in your own party.

  437. DW says:

443 – they won’t listen. They didn’t listen to the hard data I presented on Trump’s gender gap.

Plenty of time for Trump to drag the whole GOP down with him, have patience.

The interesting part of that link is the idea that if Clinton is indicted, the Dems may turn not to Biden or Kerry, but to Bloomberg.

  440. jason says:

I actually made the same point about Jeb Bush, I said anyone with 70% percent rejection in his own party should not be the nominee.

    It’s not rocket science.

  441. PresidentPaul! says:

If Trump does prove a disaster in the GE, it will be interesting to see which republicans would be taken down with him.

The GOP really needs to drain the swamp with some of these people like McCain, Paul Ryan etc, kevin mccarthy, all need to go.

  442. BayernFan says:

Wouldn’t it be ironic if Trump wins but Congress goes Democrat? I bet the GOP still wouldn’t get the message.

  443. eastman says:

Ayotte, Toomey, Portman, and maybe event Blunt are screwed if Trumo is the nominee. Burr and Boozman didn’t have good numbers, last time I checked. We can kiss FL goodbye, and the deadenders will have screwed us out of NV yet again. IN could be a loss. And McCain had better be gearing for a fight, too.

Johnson and Kirk are probably already gone–not Trump’s fault.

Clinton won’t have a filibuster-proof Senate, but she’ll be getting close. Hopefully Trump will have left the national scene in disgrace, and be forgotten, by 2018, when we can target IN, ND, VA, MT, and MO.

    this surprises you?!!!!

    several long time posters

    explained to corey,

the one who considers himself a party insider and a true political junkie

    in explicit detail

    multiple times

    unequivocally

    and unanimously

    for months

    why jeb! could not win.

    they showed polls

    pointed out mistakes in tone,

    mistakes in messaging, and

    mistakes in platform

and corey completely ignored every cogent argument,

explaining that not one vote had yet been cast … and that polls would change

    and then votes were cast

and the same people pointed out that corey himself had said

that candidates that had placed in the top 3 in iowa and/or new hampshire had earned the right to continue, and …

that jeb! had not placed in the top 3 in iowa and new hampshire

    and

    yet still …

corey the great political insider …

the political junkie who had never met one person who supported rubio as their top choice

    stayed with jeb!

  445. eastman says:

If Trump is the nominee, Clinton could win from death row.

  446. PresidentPaul! says:

Serious question- would Cruz be a good general election candidate.

    Rubio is a nonstarter.

  447. lisab says:

BayernFan is now salivating over a Dem Congress’ election in November.

Why don’t you just come out and admit what Hedgehoggers have known for years–namely, that you’re a lifelong partisan Democrat–Bay?

We’ll all respect you more if you just admit the truth.

  450. MikeP says:

DW, I believe Phil Robertson, the Duck Commander, has endorsed Cruz. I remember Wes once commenting about Robertson’s influence. This should help in LA and maybe in MS

  451. Wes says:

Mike, Phil Robertson publicly endorsed the so-called “Kissing Congressman,” Vance McAllister, who, almost entirely because of that endorsement, won a runoff for Congress in 2013.

  452. Wes says:

Eastman, Boozman is from a safe GOP state and has a second-tier opponent running against him.

Burr is facing one of a number of underfunded C-list Dems in a state trending increasingly GOP.

Unless both have George Allen moments, I don’t see how either loses even if Trump is the nominee.

  453. lisab says:

fox news’ debate questions will be unreal

q: mr. kasich, what is your name?

q: mr. cruz, what is your quest?

q: mr. rubio, what is your favourite colour?

q: mr. trump, is the theory of cosmic inflation correct, and, if so, what are the details of this epoch? also, why does the zero-point energy of the vacuum not cause a large cosmological constant?

  454. messy57 says:

It’ll be Cuomo vs. Romney in the fall….

  455. Wes says:

By the way, Eastman, PPP is the only major pollster to consistently poll NC-Sen. They hate Richard Burr passionately and every six years trot out the meme that Burr is unknown to most Tarheels with his reelect numbers evenly split so as to create the illusion of his vulnerability and talk up his Dem challenger..

    It didn’t work in 2010.

    It won’t work this year.

  456. Wes says:

    What?

Trump doesn’t rate the question about the air speed of an unladen swallow or the capital of Assyria?

  457. Robbie says:

Watching Hardball and Chrissy Matthews is very upset at Romney’s speech. He said Romney and others are trying to subvert the will of the people. As if 35% is the will of the people.

This is what I would ask the Donald:

Mr. Trump, is it true your hair is actually a mutated parasitic organism using you to try to take over the world?

Denial of course is the first step toward acceptance of reality.

  460. lisab says:

Romney didn’t run because he was scared. Scared of losing to Bush, scared of attacking Hillary. Just like he was scared to attack Obama. Nothing more to say except he’s a loser. Losers sit back and criticize after the fact. Like Mitt Romney knows anything about conservatism.

rubio is off his game tonight

    cruz is doing well

kasich is kasich … with a slight edge tonight

  522. Corey says:

The entire Republican primary process has turned into the Hedgehog Report comment section. Endless arguments about polls and personal insults. It is completely Trump’s fault that it has come to this, but it’s pretty disheartening for American democracy. Just look at the idiot Trump supporters on the aisle acting like fools and mugging for the cameras non-stop. Do they realize that the Presidency is actually a serious office?

John Kasich is executing his strategy well tonight and well get all the plaudits in the media for doing so. It’s not going to get him many more votes though.

Trump looks like even more of a crazy man than usual, and it just might not matter. I guess time will tell.

I hope Rubio wins as many delegates as possible in the weeks and months ahead, but Mitt Romney looks like the winner for not having to stand on a stage with Donald Trump and have to point out the obvious.

  523. Phil says:

Never seen one candidate try and talk over every other candidate like Trump – a bully and a thug.

  524. BayernFan says:

    And a winner

  525. Corey says:

Everybody possible needs to push this NYT off the record transcript thing as much as possible.

It’s quite obvious he has something to hide and that is why he is not doing so. Just like Hillary with her Goldman Sachs paid speech transcript.

Trump probably directly called his supporters idiots in the off the comment remarks. Amazing that a “smart businessman” would not put it to rest very quickly, if he did not have something really bad to hide.

  526. PresidentPaul! says:

“Do they realize that the Presidency is actually a serious office?”

No it’s not. They get in and reward their cronies like Bush did.

    I liked Jefferson though.

  527. Just Fill Out The Census says:

I agree Corey. These personal insults are so disheartening.

On that note, some jerk cut me off this morning on my way to work. I then noticed he had a Trump bumper sticker and he looked the way you would suspect: white and very overweight. His car was garbage too. Trump appeals to the low class hick vote.

  528. Scooterboy says:

Great night for Rubio. Trump and Cruz have no path. Its Rubio now and it will be easy!!!

  535. Tina says:

    Luntz saying kasich doing well.

  536. Corey says:

I think I need to go do the early vote thing this weekend so I can vote for Rubio before anything might come out polling wise that might make me have to consider voting for Cruz.

There is no doubt at all that Rubio is a stronger general election candidate and would likely be a far better President than Cruz.

Stopping Trump is the most paramount thing right now though.

  537. Just Fill Out The Census says:

Ted Cruz wants to leave marriage to the states.

Well that’s a human rights issue and same sex marriage is never going away.

Ted Cruz can also get on his knees and suck my D

  538. PresidentPaul! says:

Cruz is just as good as Trump.

I don’t think Cruz had a goal when he shut down the government though. He didn’t want to shut down the government he wanted to do a stunt rather than achieve a real shut down.

Same thing on the IRS. The point is that it’s unconstitutional to be required to testify against yourself or have your property seized and the 14th amendment was never ratified as well. Making it a smaller IRS with a different name doesn’t change the problem.

I think Cruz is a big government conservative who wants a giant military with lots of taxes to support that but he is at least a conservative unlike Rubio who should be at the democrat debate.

  539. Just Fill Out The Census says:

Hey look I’m being mature like a Trump supporter!

  540. Tina says:

    Kasich doing very well.

  541. Corey says:

Rubio’s voice actually sounds better in its current state. He just does not have a very loud voice naturally, and struggles to be heard, which is a huge contrast with Trump who just decides he will talk over anyone whenever he sees fit.

  542. PresidentPaul! says:

    16th amendment I meant

  543. bartman says:

Don’t care who your for, Kelly is obviously the debate winner tonight. She has command of the issues, is able to recall statistics and polling with timeliness and accuracy, and is pointing out hypocrisy and inconsistent statements with ease. Too bad she’s a “moderator.” Looking up moderator in Webster’s…….Huh…..must be one of those words that have evolved over time.

  544. Tina says:

I am warming again to kasich.

  545. Scooterboy says:

  547. Bitterlaw says:

I will never understand early voting.

  548. PresidentPaul! says:

  549. Corey says:

Were any of the 9/11 hijackers married? Did any have families in the US who were then flown out of the country before? Maybe I am wrong, but I do not think those were factual things. Yet Trump just says whatever he wants, if it was false.

  555. Corey says:

I don’t know what the extended family of bin Laden, who are quite Western, have to do with 9/11, but that Michael Moore conspiracy theory about them has long since been debunked.

But now, Trump directly said that the wives of the 9/11 hijackers were in the U.S. I do not believe a single one of those hijackers had a wife.

  556. Chicon says:

Kelly – It is a math problem

Trump – I will hire the best math professors.

  565. Corey says:

All the media will declare that Kasich won and that Cruz did great. Rubio will probably get panned. People will say that Trump looked horrible, but it won’t matter.

I don’t think Kasich is going to pick up many more votes though. Hopefully Trump loses votes. That is what it is about at this point.

  566. Corey says:

Disappointed that Rubio said he would support Trump as the nominee.

  567. lisab says:

    cruz: 2 + 2 is a history problem

    rubio: 27

kasich: in ohio i solved the math problem

    Not playing well on twitter.

  576. Bitterlaw says:

Rubio blew it by saying he’s support Trump.

Completely disagree. Take the hogh rosd and be the adult in the room. Trump would have looked like an assif he said he would not support the GOP nominee.

  577. Tina says:

The only thing that concerns me about kasich is that he is for intervention.

  578. lisab says:

the amazing thing is luntz up to now has LOVED rubio

clearly fox is not helping rubio any more

maybe they are going to try cruz and or kasich

  579. Tina says:

It’s either that, or we go code red.

  580. Corey says:

I’m sure Mr. Vito has a real life with real things going on, but the HHR may need him..

  581. GF says:

If Rubio blew it by saying he would support Trump, then Cruz and Kasich did as well. The logic applies across the board.

    Awesome answer by kasich.

Ok, I am now supporting kasich and not Rubio.

  583. SoHope says:

Rubio is on a kamakazi mission…he knows it. It’s a shame it’s come to that but damn a sizable potion of the GOP electorate is dumb as hell. Pissing away the most winnable election in decades.

Rubio and Kasich are both fine people who could possibly make great Presidents. I do not know if Rubio would be a better President than Kasich or a would be a stronger general election candidate than Kasich, but Ohio aside, I think it is pretty clear that Marco Rubio is far stronger in the GOP primary process at this point as compared to Kasich, which is why Rubio should be the choice over Kasich, anywhere outside of Ohio.

Either Trump will be the nominee in July or it will be someone else. I am about the “someone else.”

  595. Tina says:

    Uh oh politico article.

    Oh no.

  596. lisab says:

The math for Rubio is daunting. After getting thoroughly routed on Super Tuesday, Rubio is in so deep a delegate hole that he would now need to win roughly two-thirds of all the remaining delegates to guarantee his nomination ahead of Cleveland, according to a POLITICO analysis.
    Story Continued Below
That is an enormously difficult, if not impossible, climb for a candidate who has so far won only a single state, Minnesota, and especially one who is not predicting victory in any of the next dozen states and territories that cast ballots, until his home state of Florida votes on March 15.
“It’s fair to say that Rubio’s path to 1,237 is shot,” Dave Wasserman, an analyst with the Cook Political Report who closely tracks the delegate race, said of the threshold to secure the nomination.
“There’s virtually no chance for Marco Rubio to get to a majority prior to the convention,” said John Yob, who served as a top delegate strategist for Rick Santorum in 2012 and John McCain in 2008.

The students can take the test beginning in 9th grade. They can take it as many times as they need to in order to try to get a passing grade. No cost to student.

AZ became the first state to require this.

A bill to do this in our state passed our state Senate and will be taken up by our committee on Friday morning.

    but

    we carpet bombed vietnam …

pick a city with isis members … afterwards treat the survivors who surrender with dignity

  634. SanDiegoCitizen says:

The United States never carpet bombed a city in Vietnam. It was aimed at military installations.

In the south it was jungle and rural areas where the VC/North Vietnamese were based. Even during the heaviest bombing in the north, attempts were made limit the attacks to military targets

North Vietnamese news services often showed films of civilians on the streets of Hanoi watching the planes flying in the distance. In any war their are civilian casualties; but intentionally targeting civilians is a violation of the Geneva Convention.

For the first time in awhile, I watched a GOP debate last night.

    My take:

    1) Trump was a jerk but framed things better than Rubio or Cruz.

    2) Cruz looked like a Saturday Night Love character as usual but otherwise didn’t stand out.

    3) Rubio gave a decent but not spectacular performance.

    4) Kasich made the most sense of any of them.

Honestly while I still support Rubio, barring one of Robbie’s brokered conventions, I have a hard time imagining his winning the nomination at this point. He needed to frame the terms of the debate against Trump but failed to do that last night.

It’s a shame because Rubio is talented but hasn’t tapped into his erstwhile competence as a campaigner very often in this race.
