Guadango Trails By 16% in NJ

We have what I believe is the first public poll for the New Jersey gubernatorial race this year and it shows Republicans are going to have a hard time holding this seat even with their sitting Lt. Governor Kim Guadango as the nominee.

Phil Murphy (D) 45%
Kim Guadango (R )29%

This poll was done January 6-30 among 1240 registered voters. It probably doesn’t help Guadango that Chris Christie has sunk to a job approval rating of 17%.

Fake News: Man Who Claimed Mom Died Due to Trump ‘Ban’ Lied

The leader of a mosque in Dearborn has confirmed to FOX 2 that a man who claimed his mother died in Iraq after being barred from returning to the United States under a ban instituted by President Trump this weekend, lied to FOX 2 about when her death occurred.
Imam Husham Al-Hussainy, leader of the Karbalaa Islamic Educational Center in Dearborn, says Mike Hager’s mom did not pass away this weekend after being barred from traveling to the United States. The Imam confirms that Hager’s mother died before the ban was put in place.

After the story aired on FOX 2 and was posted on, we received many questions about the validity of Hager’s claims that his mother died waiting to be approved to come home. FOX 2 has confirmed that his mother died five days earlier.

Trump’s National Security Advisor Threatens Iran

It wasn’t hard to see this coming. President Trump’s National Security Advisor, Gen. Michael Flynn, delivered a clear threat to the government of Iran today, ominously stating that “as of this day, we are officially putting Iran on notice.” What is less clear is the the General’s rationale for issuing the threat.

Flynn cites two justifications for bringing the US on war footing against Iran. Both are dubious. First, he blames Iran for a recent attack on a Saudi naval vessel carried out by Houthi forces in Yemen. According to Flynn, because the Houthis are backed by Iran — itself a specious claim — it is Iran that is actually responsible

  9. Mr.Vito says:

Here Bunu… if you haven’t heard through your outlets, it is probably all I need to know. The girl was the daughter of a terrorist. Her teenage brother was killed during a separate drone strike by Obama… sounds like they didn’t learn to stay away from terrorists.

How does Rand’s Obamacare bill look, Bunu… passable?

  11. PresidentPaul! says:

Haven’t looked at the details but if it’s something that is 60 votes then of course not.

I generally think the GOP is wasting too much time on Obamacare repeal when they should be focusing on tax cuts as a first priority especially since Obamacare would fail on its own.

Paul Ryan, the ways and means committee chairman, and the leadership are for revenue neutral tax cuts, and I don’t understand how you can have such a thing.,

  12. Mr.Vito says:

I think it has something to do with being able to pass them with a simple majority…

  13. PresidentPaul! says:

Trump has a good tax cut plan. That should have been the main thing out of the gates.

  14. PresidentPaul! says:

Not only good policy in general, but Trump’s tax cut effects would have hit right about the time the next economic slow down occurs.

Unbelievable. Their credibility is already shot and they keep digging.

  34. Robbie says:

Apparently, Trump’s call with the Australian Prime Minister didn’t go well. He bragged about his election win, said the call was terrible, and then abruptly hung up.

Honestly, I just don’t get why Trump is doing these things. This probably won’t hurt him with voters, but he certainly doesn’t gain anything either. Is it really wise to make himself look so goofy with foreign leaders?

I want Trump to be successful, but his staff needs to get him under control. My guess is the pressure of the job if affecting him.

  35. Robbie says:

I want to doubt the Australian phone call story, but the Australian officials confirmed the gist of the report.

“Rev. Darrell Scott, a megachurch pastor from Cleveland Heights, Ohio, said that top Chicago gang members reached out to him and want to work with President Donald Trump to combat violence in the Windy City.

Scott said during a meeting between several black leaders and President Trump those gang leaders “believe in this administration” and the president’s stated mission to reduce the violence-related body count in inner cities.”

Wasn’t there some community organizer who once worked in Chicago, why didn’t they want to work with him…? trying to remember, what was his name? . . oh yes, the name was Obama.

  39. Proud Obamacon says:

So Mr. President, when do we invade Mexico and get these bad hombres? Let’s do this! Then its on to take Australia!

  40. Phil says:

Uh, where exactly does anyone get a transcript of a private phone conversation from the oval office?

    It doesn’t exist, Robbie.

Oh, and Mr Not My President – Arizona, Georgia, and Texas still looking promising for Hillary?

  41. gameboy says:

Can’t believe folks keep suckering for the fake news. Hilarious!!!

  42. Robbie says:

The White House always creates transcripts of calls so “readouts” to the press can be created. Trump has pissed off the civil servants and they are fighting back by leaking. If you notice, no one in the White House has disputed this story.

Claiming every bad story about Trump is fake news is no way to operate. It’s true the press has done some shotty reporting, but that doesn’t mean everything is a lie.

Trump has nominated so many qualified people to work in the government, but he has surrounded himself with garbage in the White House. Steve Bannon and the others are serving him poorly.

Trump must professionalize his staff or he threatens to ruin everything that was surprisingly accomplished in the election.

  43. Proud Obamacon says:

“Oh, and Mr Not My President – Arizona, Georgia, and Texas still looking promising for Hillary?”

  50. Robbie says:

According to this CNN story, Sean Spicer did not return requests for a comment on the story. That’s telling because Trump and his team have fought back on everything else, including the crowd size comments from press room podium.

  55. Robbie says:

Let me also say this. I don’t doubt the story may be overheated, but clearly a bad conversation with the Australian PM occurred.

Again, why? Why feel the need to be contentious with someone who doesn’t matter one iota.

  56. lisab says:

“Dems have already given up on any filibuster.”

    they have a problem …

if the dems filibuster, the filibuster will be nuked

I am concerned that these wild dust ups continue to happen. Believe the story, don’t believe the story. That doesn’t mean it shouldn’t worry us Trump seems to be struggling to switch from campaigner to president. He can’t go two days without tripping over his dick.

  63. Phil says:

I will be happy to buy any story that can be confirmed. The transcript of the private oval office phone conversations doesn’t pass the smell test to me.

….and then there is the story that appeared yesterday about the Iraqi’s mother who died as a result of the Trump travel ban. Only thing is it turns out she dies two days before the “ban” was announced. How inconvenient.

  64. Robbie says:

We’re just going to have agree to disagree on this one.

If it’s fake news, I will apologize profusely.

  65. Trump says:

The Jeb sucker is concerned about trump?

  66. Mr.Vito says:

  67. Trump says:

The Aussie pm matters so much, can anyone name him?

  68. Mr.Vito says:

I do not blame anyone that does not buy the story… I blame the press for doing it to themselves,

That does not mean it is not real.

  69. Robbie says:

Because a story is wrong doesn’t mean all stories are wrong.

Let’s see if Spicer pushes back hard tomorrow. I bet they tap dance around the story.

Of course, Trump will say or do something crazy tomorrow that eclipses this and it will be forgotten.

and trump said he may not take 1200 refugees from syria

    so what?

the austrailian pm gets angry at us because he doesn’t want them in his country? … i don’t blame him, they are costing austrailia millions of dollars a year

  75. Phil says:

I don’t know for sure if it is fake or not. However, in my mind it seems highly doubtful someone had the access to any transcript of a private conversation between world leaders even if one exists. I know this, any one with access to any such conversation would have to have the highest of security clearances. Leaking anything like that would not only put a person out of a job but get them a prison term.

  76. Mr.Vito says:

“With that, good night. If you look up and see contrails tomorrow, it may be me.”

    Cool. stay safe.

Had he actually looked and behaved like the frontrunner early, not just pretended to be one, Trump might not have run. Of course, he would have lost to Hillary had he gotten the nomination.

  98. jason says:

But we digress, there are much more important issues than Jeb and Trump.

  112. Mr.Vito says:

The CBC just informed me that there was a good reason you rubes in the rust belt were “vulnerable” to Trump’s “divisive” and “simple” message. Blaming Obama doesn’t work since the recovery has been going “so well”.

  113. Mr.Vito says:

No wonder Cory is so effed up in the head. Trump “exploited” people by talking about how trade deals have been bad for the US, even though Canada has done much better at making sure such deals benefit themselves, according to the panelist. And Hillary also “exploited”… oh “not exploited in her case”… she was just reacting…

You should watch that one DW. This will probably be a treasure trove… it will be interesting to see this meltdown later in the coverage.

-He has not been horrible, but the heady days as a Youtube sensation sure did not go as far as it could have.

Personally, when he did not get conservative-oriented justices placed on the court, I saw him trying to be an appeaser. He did not learn from Scott Walker. YES, NJ is much different than Wisconsin, but the fight should have been had. He was re-elected with 60% of the vote, so he had the popularity to get it thru. He did not “go bold”! Same mistake Corbett made in PA.

  121. NYCmike says:

The point about not being bold enough is also valid.

  124. NYCmike says:

“If he left the state GOP in worse shape”

-Not so sure about that. I would say he left it as bad as it was previously. He was more worried about his re-election and higher office than making an imprint on the state with more conservative policies.

  130. Bitterlaw says:

I do not know what conservative policies would have been passed by the Dems in the NJ legislature but he did not try. However, kicking the NJEA was magnificent.

  131. Mr.Vito says:

    “Not so sure about that.”

Me neither… I am leaving that as an open point to ponder.

  132. Walt says:

    Day 2:

Leave house at 6:30 this morning.
    Do work.
    Home by 2:00 p.m.

    Went FAR better than yesterday.

  133. CashCow TM says:

People working at WH mad at trop so they leaked?

I once got mad at Walt and leaked.
    all over the living room.

    Berkeley burning.

Those leftist/anarchists don’t give a hoot about burning things and causing manmade global warming.

Or busting windows and breaking things up so more of Mother Earth has to be dug into to make replacements…
Protestors protesting free speech…at U.S. university that is supposed to be the place for free speech and the viewing of many different positions.

The protestors want free speech only for those with whom them agree.
The protestors want more government funds to be spent to help those in need. But their loony toon actions cause more money to have to be spent on police, and making repairs to existing things. And driving up insurance rates for everyone including the struggling, non rich families. And of course the insurance cost payouts will are just passed along to everyone….including raising the cost of college tuitions to replace damage to college campus…

Of course to pay for the damage and everything the loony toons want—the loonly toons think it can come from picking off $!,000 bills off the money tree orchard.

See what happens when you wear tight fitting pink knitted caps?
    Fries your brains.

  136. CashCow TM says:

Can’t wait for the book to come out:

    “Donald Trump’s Great Adventure!”

  137. NYCmike says:

“I do not know what conservative policies would have been passed by the Dems in the NJ legislature but he did not try.”

-I would rather have had the NJ Supreme Court, at least for a little while. That Torricelli ruling back in 2002(?) still irks me.

  138. NYCmike says:

“However, kicking the NJEA was magnificent.”

  139. CashCow TM says:

    Pipe down on here!

Hot Bench is on on TV.

  140. DW says:

119 – sounds interesting. Right now limiting my study to NBC, CBS, and ABC for the traditional networks, along with MSNBC, Fox, and CNN.

I am thinking of adding PBS if I can bring myself to suffer under the condescension of David Brooks.

  141. DW says:

of course MSNBC and NBC shared some of the same analysts and shared the same decision desk. But I included comments from both.

    Initial impressions.

    Traditional networks:

CBS by far was the most boring. They also had the least data analysis. Mostly it was panelists agreeing with each other.

NBC was the best of the three, not that they were very good, but at least Chuck Todd blamed Hillary for her own loss at the end. They never did look at WI until it was about time to call it for Trump. Early in the night they did the best job of calling states quickly.

ABC was the worst in terms of seething anger at Trump, the voters, and each other. Their analysts and panelists were often confused and gaffe-prone.

Fox News was the best, making it interesting as they went, though they could have done better. By far they did the best job of calling states.

CNN actually wasn’t that bad given their data analyst John King actually provided some good insights.

MSNBC needs no comment. Totally unhinged.

  142. jason says:

I hear Gorsuch stepped on an endangered beetle when he was 11.

  143. jason says:

CNN had Van Jones, an avowed Communist, as commentator.

    What could have gone wrong?

Considering how many people have been killed in the name of the Bible, I wouldn’t give this statistic much importance.

  145. NYCmike says:

-Maybe Trump is wrong to NOT bring some of these people over here. Just make sure you pick the ones that LOVE America.

    Very creative minds!

  146. NYCmike says:

“Considering how many people have been killed in the name of the Bible, I wouldn’t give this statistic much importance.”

-It would be more appropriate when broken down, like we do for baseball records and such (for example – HR hitters during the Dead-ball area).

If you break the deaths down by, say, 500 year periods, it would be interesting.

  147. NYCmike says:

-His Mom was very upset with him when she could not board the plane.

She wouldn’t even speak to him….she was so(upset).

    (upset) = DEAD

  148. Mr.Vito says:

“I am thinking of adding PBS if I can bring myself to suffer under the condescension of David Brooks.”

Stuart Stevens is horrible on there. Brooks isn’t bad at all really.

According to the British historian Niall Ferguson, France has participated in 50 of the 125 major European wars fought since 1495, and in 168 battles fought since 387 BC, they have won 109, drawn 10 and lost 49: this makes France the most successful military power in European history – in terms of number of fought and won.

  155. NYCmike says:

“He is an open borders idiot.”

Considering that Levin has commented many times about our immigration laws being UNENFORCED, I find it hard to believe you would think he is for “open borders”.

Don’t be like an Author, or a Corey, or a Robbie.

Please share the arguments that Levin made that you disagree with, and let others on here see if they agree with him or not.
