MD Gov Hogan Holds 73% Job Approval Rating

Morning Consult has released their rankings of the Governors in the United States based on Job Approval ratings and ny great Republican Governor of Maryland is still near the top of the list with a ridiculous job approval rating of 73%. This is after Maryland Democrats have spent the entire legislative sessions trying every possible way to tie Donald Trump around Larry Hogan’s neck, clearly to no avail.

MARYLAND GOVERNOR LARRY HOGAN JOB APPROVAL)
Approve 73%
Disapprove 16%

It is interesting that the top eleven rated Governors are all Republicans despite Donald Trump leading the party at the national level. Andrew Cuomo is the first Democrat to pop up on the list down at #12.

Here is another Nate Cohn observation about the Congressional race in CD GA-6:
    eplying to @Nate_Cohn
I’d expect this continue, given who is left to vote. Among voters who haven’t voted yet with a >80% of voting in midterm: R 78, D 21

  2. Sheeple,Jr. says:

It appears that Republicans in GA-6 CD are beginning to awaken.A few das ago, the difference was >20%.
    Replying to @Nate_Cohn
Day 12 of in-person early voting in GA-6 is R 47, D 39–highest turnout and best GOP day yet
    Over all, D 49, R 34 with 26717 ballots cast.

  3. Sheeple,Jr. says:

Here is Elect Project’s liberal darling,Michael McDonald, reacting to a GOP internal poll from last week, which no one has seen, showing the Republican candidate in today’s KS CD-4 election only up 1.

Election Day vote usually breaks Rep, and with the early vote already Rep leaning in #KS04, I doubt Estes is only +1

    Early voting in this race finished yesterday with the following numbers;

    Republican votes- 13,000; 47.6%
    Democrat votes- 10,900; 39.9%
    Indies & Others- 3,400; 12.5%

The GOP votes exceed the Dem. votes by 7.7% in early/absentee voting and this lead should significantly rise with today’s vote.

  4. Bitterlaw says:

-What was Bitterlaw saying about liberal teachers?

NYC – You missed the point. I did not say that there are no liberal teachers. Those are the ones who get the headlines. Hundreds of thousands of teachers did not make stupid, hateful statements. Where are their headlines>

  5. Phil says:

Hard to believe a Republican governor can sustain a JA number like that in such a Democratic hellhole like Maryland – and sustain it for as long as he has on top of that.

  6. EML says:

The Democratic candidate in KS-04 released a poll 2 weeks ago showing him down 56-32. However, Gov. Brownback’s 27% approval rating in that Morning Consult poll is cause for concern.

  7. Tom says:

Every 10-15 years, Maryland elects a Republican governor to clean up the mess the Democrats have made. After he does, they revert to form and elect another tax and spend Democrat to drive everything into the ground again. It’s the pure definition of insanity.

18 miles away from home (only 1/2 mile from her school), wife got rear-ended this morning on her way to work.

She is OK (as is everyone in other car).
Car still drive-able but very me$$ed up.

    Two lessons learned:
    1. They say most car accidents happen within 20 miles of home, so do all of your driving at least 20 miles away from your home.

    2. Working (and getting to and from work) is hazardous to your physical, financial and emotional health.

-I don’t think we need hearings, but that video should be shown to everybody who flies, and United better get a great P.R. firm to help them, because that was terrible! “Friendly skies”, my arse!

  12. NYCmike says:

I hope, if I was in that situation, I would have just got up and laid on the guy being dragged off, and hoped others would join me on top, so we were too heavy to pull off.

That was ridiculous, and that passenger should be very rich within the next year.

  13. Bitterlaw says:

Walt – It’s your fault. If you lived 18.5 miles closer to the school this would not have happened.

I hope that your wife is ok. She should report the incident to her school. I do not know the specific law in West Virginia but workers compensation may cover medical bills and lost wages if she is absent for a few days. An accident traveling to and from work may be compensable.

This is likely the poll that produced David Drucker’s column in the Washington Examiner last week. He suggested it was a razor tight result, but wouldn’t reveal the number because it was off the record. Now whether that +1 poll was an accurate reflection of the race, remains to be seen.

Campaign polling often is broken down into various scenarios based on turnout. For instance, that +1 poll could have been a worst case scenario where the base stays home. On the other hand, other scenarios might be based on a more likely base turnout and show a wider margin.

I’d be surprised if the Republican lost tonight, but not shocked. I do think an upset is possible. Estes is fighting the Brownback factor and has run a mediocre campaign. Still, the registration of KS04 favors him.

There also hasn’t been the kind of Democrat attention that would make me think something really is brewing. Of course, Democrats may have decided brining attention to the race might have, in fact, hurt the Democrat.

  15. Barrett says:

Proud of my Governor. He is the second most-liked Governor in the United States.

Thanks to the Dems, he was not able to close the budget gap during the Maryland legislative session, but he cut it down significantly.

    Bitter,

    She thankfully suffered no injuries.
But my shoulder that I had the 14 stitches in from skin cancer surgery is hurting.

Probably from several hours of roto-tilling yesterday.

Maybe I can say I was in her car when it got hit…

  18. Walt says:

    OK.
Gotta go out and do some outside work, now that it is boiling hot here.

I will do another hour or two of roto-tilling and Cow is assigned trimming the 12 foot tall holly trees out front…

Yesterday you were pushing your “Trump is dragging down candidates” narrative. Now it’s the “Brownback factor” after I corrected you. Interesting.

  20. Bitterlaw says:

Maybe I can say I was in her car when it got hit…

There were cases in Philadelphia when a bus was hit where more claims were filed than the maximum number of passengers a bus can hold. Now the buses have cameras on board.

  23. Chicon says:

22 – I heard it was really the idea of Abraham Lincoln. Or was it George W. Bush?

  24. Robbie says:

Susan Collins is considering a run for Maine governor in 2018. If she was to win, she would appoint a replacement Senator who would fill out the remainder of her term that ends in 2020.

I’d definitely like to see Collins stay in the Senate. Even though she bucks the party from time to time, she has been there when it counts like the filibuster on Gorsuch. And in a period when the control of the Senate is so close, her seat is very important. On top of that, I wish Olympia Snowe had not retired in 2012 for the same reasons.

“The Chinese have done nothing on North Korea, and I don’t think they will unless they think America is tough. The tougher we are on trade, the more likely China is going to think we’re tough on North Korea,” Schumer said.

Schumer said Democrats generally oppose further military action because “we believe that our big focus has to be at home. We have to rebuild our country, our infrastructure, jobs.”

Schumer doesn’t get the astounding hypocrisy of asking Trump to “be tough on trade” and “focus at home”. That is chutzpah.

    – Hey Rubio worshipper, I believe Estes will win, but I wouldn’t be shocked if he lost. Democrats have a lot of energy right now and Republican, by most reporting, seem not too enthused about this election. And since it is a special election, weird things can happen.

    – As the column I posted yesterday about Mitch McConnell noted, don’t allow the 2018 map to lull you into a false sense of security. Nothing in 2018 is guaranteed, especially if Trump’s approval remains low.
