Moore Collapses in AL, Jones/Moore Now Tied
I wish I had waited a few hours before my earlier post because then I could have instead posted this new poll done from Opinion Saavy that was done completely after the latest report about Roy Moore.
US SENATE – ALABAMA (OS)
Roy Moore 46%
Doug Jones 46%
There has been some chatter about a Luther Strange write-in campaign. IN that case, DOug Jones would move slightly into the lead.
US SENATE – ALABAMA (OS)
Doug Jones (D) 44%
Roy Moore (R) 42%
Luther Strange (I) 12%
This poll was done November 9th among likely voters. You have to think even with this poll happening after the release, there are a number of voters who might not have heard the entire story at the time this poll was taken and there is even more room for Moore to collapse even further in the next few days….
1st.
All these troubles stem from the fact Roy Moore is a horrible candidate to start with.
AL had a perfectly good incumbent, a conservative and Trump supporter, endorsed by the President.
Instead they nominate a person known to consider himself above the law, who lost his position as chief justice (who took an oath to obey the Constitution) not once, but twice.
I am skeptical about the latest allegations. But it doesn’t change the fact none of this had to happen, and the NYCs of this board who kept saying “I can support any Republican” were stupid and shortsighted. Everyone here and every elected R in the country should have made clear Roy Moore did not represent the party.
The Akin, CODs, Mourdocks, Bucks of this world will always find a way to self destruct.
Moore is putting at risk a seat Strange would have won by at least 30 points.
The Democrats are lucky Rs are so stupid sometimes.
Unless there is more information, these polls are coming out rather quickly, considering the news just dropped 24 hours ago.
It all seems very coordinated……
I would hate to lose this seat, but if it will keep Bannon from trying to nominate more political suicide deadenders maybe its the price that should be paid.
jason, as usual, gets it wrong.
Mo Brooks was the person, if I had a vote, whom I would have voted for……BUT, McConnell decided to spend $$$ going after him in the jungle primary, which pushed him down to 3rd place.
Maybe Mitch should have stayed out of it in the first place……
It all seems very coordinated……”
I don’t doubt it.
But it doesn’t change the fact Roy Moore should never been allowed to run.
The party should have said look if you can’t obey the law as Chief Justice you are not fit to run for the senate. But because some of them agreed with his positions on the monument and on gay marriage they gave him a pass. I agreed with him on the monument too, but the courts decided otherwise and he swore an oath to the Constitution, and the Constitution is clear that in this case there was no separate state law that could prevail. The case was over.
Moore would have won except for these unproven allegations. He has NOT done anything currently which would have changed that (so far).
Akin, Mourdock, Buck, Angle ALL said or did things AFTER the primary which turned the electorate against them. They were at fault.
As of this moment, with the evidence we have, Moore is getting railroaded.
ason, as usual, gets it wrong.
Mo Brooks was the person, if I had a vote, whom I would have voted for”
You defended this scumbag over and over here with the “I will support any R and I didn’t read what he did in the past” BS.
Moore is getting railroaded”
Maybe, but the fact he is known not to have any respect for the rule of law is exactly the kind of reputation you don’t want in cases like this.
“You defended this scumbag over and over here with the “I will support any R and I didn’t read what he did in the past” BS.”
-Yes, because I disagree with your opinion that he should NOT be able to run.
That does not mean I would vote for him in that original primary. I wanted Brooks, since he had already shown he could win a federal position as representative. He was safer than Moore.
Moore is a bad candidate. Period.
And maybe he is getting railroaded.
Both can be true.
But in his favor, I would take this poll with a grain of salt. It’s not what people think right after the aftermath, it’s what they think after they have had time to assess the facts.
Moore is not done yet. But either way, he should never have been allowed to run or even belong to the party.
Unless there is more informationevidence to be had, I don’t see why Moore should bow out.
I hope he wins if that is the case.
wanted Brooks”
What was the problem with Strange, who was Trump’s choice at a time Trump needs support in the senate?
According the official version of Ted Kennedy’s story — he barely knew Mary Jo, but he offered to give her a ride back to the ferry from the party.
This suggests Ted knows the route, which seemingly contradicts his later testimony that he got lost and made a wrong turn.
Furthermore, another tidbit that is curious….Mary Jo didn’t tell any of her friends she was leaving the party–and she left behind, at the party, her purse and her hotel key.
Also odd is the fact that Kennedy apparently had his driver right there who could have taken Mary Jo back — but according to Ted, he was still finishing his meal–at 11:15 pm.
Given Kennedy’s lifelong reputation for womanizing that its possible that after the meal the booze was flowing and all of them having gotten a little buzzed, Ted and Mary Jo slip out go down to the beach for a quick one, explaining why she never told her friends she was departing with Ted; explaining why she left behind her purse and hotel key–because she was coming back in 30 minutes; explaining why Ted’s driver wasn’t needed; explaining why the turn right was the intended turn, rather than the left turn to the ferry; explaining why Ted was driving a little fast, given the conditions; explaining why the examiners after her body was recovered found she only had slacks on from the waist down; and explaining Kennedy’s odd behavior after the crash.
If his official story was true, that he was sober, and driving her back to the ferry as a favor, then there was no reason at all to be ashamed to go ask for help having crashed off the bridge.
There should be no place in the Republican Party for a disgraceful human being like Roy Moore. I hope he loses. And if he should win, I hope the Senate refuses to seat him. They have it their power to do so.
It will be interesting to watch if the “conservatives” suddenly find their consciences and call on Moore to quit if he begins to fall behind in the polling. That will tell you all you need to know.

Good ole Roy’s fine with you because he hates McConnell and he has a R next to his name.
This could just about finish any tax bill. It was iffy getting Republicans to hang together with 52 votes on anything. Less likely they do so with 51 votes.
Good luck getting traction in the 2018 elections. Republicans running on the montra a party that can’t govern are going to get sliced and diced at the polls.
Won’t bother guys like McCain, Flake, Sasse, and Corker a bit. They’ll be MSM heroes. Much more important to those guys than keeping the left from taking control of Congress in the next election.
We have to wait about the polling. This seems to be a quick release poll, one day?
How about wait to know for sure whether or not Moore is a predatory man?
It is a sick mind that concludes someone is guilty without proof. I don’t like Moore and wish he had not won the primary vote. But if this is the standard now, then ANY election the Dems wish to win will only cost them a few thousand bucks for a woman willing to accuse.
reposting this from the thread below…a great question:
Mark Levin: “How did the WaPo know there were four women, who they were, and how to contact them?… A Washington Post reporter just happens to be in Alabama talking to Roy Moore supporters… And he happens to hear what no one has reported in 38 years, no political opponents – No one… That Roy Moore, 38 years ago, made advances to teenage girls. Four of them. Now, the four girls do not know each other, they have never met. Yet the person who the Post reporter happened to run into and speak to, the person who supposedly told the reporter the story about the four girls, happened to know all four girls and how to contact them?
Seriously?”
Primce Bandar, the bush lover, was arrested by the saudis apparentky.
I know, Tina.
Don’t worry, Senator Doug Jones will no doubt mirror his constituent wishes over the next four years. Just kidding. He knows he is toast when his next election comes around in 2020. He’ll be Schumer’s puppet for the next four years. McCain will love it.
Nsrc pulls funding from moore.
Its a snap poll, high moe. Will wait for a more reputabke poll.
If anything, this should cause Republicans to be wary of Bannon-backed candidates in the future.

– I share Mitt Romney’s view. Innocent until proven guilty is for a court of law. This is politics. If you want to start a legal defense fund for good ole Roy, great. More power to you.
I want to see the Republican Party field a candidate that can make the party proud. I don’t want to see the party field a candidate who has been accused of pedophilia and who can easily be caricatured and made a part of every 2018 race.
Do you want the Democrats have the ability to claim in 2018 the Republicans turned a blind eye to pedophilia? That’s a real winner, isn’t it?
I’m with Tina. If Moore continues to be in a dogfight with Jones, then we know this has staying power. If not, then the worst is probably over.
Mark Levin’s defense of Roy Moore is the type of shamelessness that has come to define his career in radio.

– He’s been in a dogfight with Jones from the start because he is a scumbag and a lousy candidate.
Think about what the phrase “if true” means? It means if Moore is a pedophile. We’re not talking about whether he cheated on his taxes or got a DUI as a 25 year old and didn’t mention it. “If true” means he committed a sex crime.
There are still 32 days until the election. The state party has the ability to throw Moore off the ballot. They should do so immediately. The they can file a court challenge with the law that mentions 76 days. If that can’t work, then call a special session and have the Alabama legislature rewrite the law. Republicans control every part of government.

I don’t know if Roy Moore is telling the truth or not. Nobody but Moore and this woman know the truth. But the fact that flatly denies it and is suing for defamation says something.
Again, if the new precedent is that everyone is guilty on the basis of an accusation alone, then the Dems have won every election going forward already. Gillespie was guilty of running kids over with his truck, because after all, he was accused wanting to do so.
Roy Moore is Harvey Weinstein now.

Nope. No agenda there. Bush should have dropped out immediately. Right, Robbie.
Another thing to watch for in this Moore thing is the follow-on accusations. In recent times when someone is accused, suddenly others come out. Look at Bill Cosby, or other recent examples. Once the door is opened, others will rush in to also accuse–especially if it turns out the person is guilty. WP found someone who happened to know four women who didn’t know each other, and three of them have nothing on Moore leaving the one whose accusation is substantive.
My guess is that if Moore was/is a predator, that others will come forward this weekend or next week. If they don’t come forward, it suggests more strongly to me that Moore is truthful and the woman is not.

Oh, I forgot about ol Dan. Another MSM objective reporter. Journalistic standards don’t you know.
What was that he claimed? Fake but accurate?
Nope. No agenda there. Bush should have dropped out immediately. Right, Robbie.
– And you know what happened with the claim about McCain in 2008 and Dan Rather in 2004? The claims were so laughable they feel apart almost as soon as they were made.
Has this claim fallen apart? Nope.
Funny, no Democratic hacks or hack publications. All on the right.

3 times I have shown the HUGE difference between Moore on one side, and the Weinstein and Spacey issue on the other (Halperin, still looking at).
Robbie has not even commented on it.
Robbie, you are a despicable person. If Moore did something, let the process play out. One person’s account almost 40 years later is not enough proof to hang this man, no matter how much you despise.
AND, NOT ONE PERSON HERE suggested a defense fund, you nasty piece of work!
Phil, if Moore stepped down tonight, I would accept it. But without any proof after 40 years and the WaPo involved, it is scary.
what will stop them from a smear on Pence, John Thune, or any GOP candidate for the Senate in 2018?

-Oh Lord! 3 out of 4 women mentioned was nothing.
The most serious is an almost 40 year old charge which the accused vehemently DENIES!
Moore doesn’t get a day in court?
I honestly wish that Moore was not the nominee–but now that he is, and the WashPost wants the precedent set that any accusation alone is enough to disqualify, GOP recruiting will dry up in a flash.
“– Find a credible accuser with dates and details, Mikey.”
-Fusion GPS can find a date you flew, ring up the passenger list, and BOOM…..Robbie is Rocco’s boyfriend.
A “well reported story” that conveniently forgets to mention one of the women is a Democratic activist and Hillary supporter?
She has a facebook picture on the net of her and Doug Jones posing together dated Sept 20th.
…but “well reported” WP story “accidently” forgets to mention that little detail.
140 -three of the four in the story are on record saying Moore did nothing wrong–so I wonder what they are doing in the story at all except to give WashPost the ability to say women instead of woman.
Make no mistake the accusation of the one is a serious accusation, but I can see how they get a better play on the story to say 4 women instead of 1 woman.
It is well reported.

141. Exactly DW. Post of the day.
If this was just about politics, I could almost wish that it was proven true so that Moore could be gone for good and a write-in given a chance.
But this isn’t about politics, it is about right and wrong. It is about waiting for the facts to be established before casting judgment.
As much as I despise Obama’s politics, if some woman came out saying he groped her when she was 14 and him 32, I would wait to see if it sticks and was established as fact–especially if he replied with the sort of denials we have heard from Moore.
Having seen first hand with someone I know very closely the horrors of being falsely accused, I am very interested in waiting for the facts to be established before leading a lynch mob.
Sorry, if Robbie is able to condemn this man as quickly as this than there is nothing I can say to change his mind. Disgusting, 3rd world attitude.

160 – if you were worried about principle, you would wait until the facts were established.
If Moore is proven a liar, then I will be pushing to the head of the line to cast judgment on him.
But you want the lynch mob to get a rope and hang him on an accusation alone.
As I described in a prior thread, I too have seen the injustice of seeing one of my colleagues falsely accused. It was ugly as hell.
If Moore did it he needs to be gone but I’m not going to automatically throw someone under the bus just because there is an accusation especially something out of the WP who has an agenda – electing Democrats. – The difference is having some facts to back up the claims rather than just throwing something against the wall.
128. “– Do you deny Trump was sleeping around on his various wives?”
Yes, we need a virtuous Democratic in office, like a Clinton or Kennedy.
We are not electing angels to office; the issue of someone’s private life really should not be a factor — unless it involves a legal issue. If the allegations are true about Moore, he should not serve. However, giving the timing and the fact it was alleged to have happened 40 years ago (and make by a Democratic activist), it should not be a factor in the election — otherwise you are opening up a Pandora’s box.
We already have nasty politics; accepting allegations as true on their face right before an election is going to make things spin out of control further. Why weren’t the allegations made before the Republican primary; instead it was after it was too late for Moore to be replaced as the Republican candidate. It is rotten politics — pure and simple.
“– And if you’re willing to continually defend an amoral man like Trump, then you’re disgusting.
You’ve chosen to put party over principle.”
-Robbie,
You must have missed the post where I said I stood up for Menendez in saying he should get a trial….wouldn’t it have been advantageous to have Christie select someone to replace him?
You’ve placed EMOTION over REASON.
“Anyone remember the Bush DUI in 2000?”
-Did Bush DENY the allegation?
I’ll be interested to see how many of you feel about wanting to give good ole Roy the chance to defend himself after he loses.
Has Moore denied the allegation?
163 – bingo! and I still want an answer to Mark Levin’s great question. How is it these four women never met, didn’t know each other, but the source the WaPost happened to randomly meet not only knew all four and their alleged complaints, but also knew how to get in touch with all four–four that again, didn’t know each other?
And you and I Phil have a unique perspective given we have seen this sort of thing play out in the real life of educators who were falsely accused.
You have chosen hillary over common sense.
164. “– Late hits happen in politics all of the time. It’s part of the game.”
So Robbie, you admitting this is all political?
166. “The difference is having some facts to back up the claims rather than just throwing something against the wall.”
What facts are you referring to? This is an allegation; what verification do you have?
Your really pulling sludge out of the bottom of the barrel.
“I’ll be interested to see how many of you feel about wanting to give good ole Roy the chance to defend himself after he loses.”
-Heh, talk about principle over party indeed.
I want the principle of FACTS to determine what is going on here, instead of slander.
You want to replace principle of Innocent until Proven Guilty for the principle of winning or losing a Senate seat.
How many times must people here say it? – IF MOORE IS GUILTY, THEN HE IS GONE.
Robbie, If Dan Rather had done a better job with the forgery, so no one could tell and disprove it, would that have made Bush guilty? No. Bush was innocent regardless the quality of the false charge.
Moore might be guilty, he might be innocent. I am for waiting to see. My guess is that if he is guilty, more women will come forward with claims in the next several days.
When countless ads are run in 2018 saying that Republican candidate X turned a blind eye to pedophilia accusations, I’ll be interested to see how everyone feels about wanting to give good ole Roy the chance to defend himself on the back of the Republican Party.
170. “I’ll be interested to see how many of you feel about wanting to give good ole Roy the chance to defend himself after he loses.”

One of the women who said Senate candidate Roy Moore pursued her while she was in high school worked for Hillary Clinton’s campaign as a sign language interpreter, according to videos and documents posted online.
Deborah Wesson Gibson, owner of the interpreting company Signs of Excellence, provided services for Clinton during her 2016 campaign, as well as working with former Democratic Vice President Joe Biden during other events. Photos posted to her company’s social media site show her providing sign language services for Sen. Patrick Murphy and Sen. Bill Nelson, both Florida Democrats.

On Facebook, Gibson shared a flier for a campaign rally for Moore’s opponent, Doug Jones and an October visit on his behalf by Biden. On Oct. 15, Gibson shared a story about Moore and his comments that the massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School occurred because Americans had “forgotten God’s law.”

– Go right ahead. Unlike with good ole Roy, you have no proof.
There is a potential way the Republicans could push Moore out according to the NYT:
“One approach that Republicans are considering, according to people briefed on the deliberations, would involve asking Gov. Kay Ivey to order a new date for the election, scheduling it for early next year and giving the party time to persuade Mr. Moore to withdraw, or force him out of the race.
Alabama election law requires candidates to withdraw at least 76 days before an election in order to be replaced on the ballot, a deadline Mr. Moore has already missed.
State law gives the governor broad authority to set the date of special elections, and Ms. Ivey, who is a Republican, already rescheduled the Senate election once, after inheriting the governor’s office in April when her predecessor, Robert Bentley, resigned in a sex and corruption scandal. Ms. Ivey’s advisers have not ruled out exercising that power again, according to Republicans in touch with her camp, but she has signaled that she would like reassurances of support from the White House before taking any such step.”

As Scott Adams wrote, sentences that begin with words like “OMG, LOL, wow, dude, in other words” are clear signs of cognitive dissonance.

So did the federal jury hearing the corruption trial of the Democrat Mitt Romney and John McCain have not demanded resign come back with a verdict yet?
“Purportedly Moore’s main accuser Leigh Corfman has had three divorces, filed for bankruptcy three times, and has been charged with multiple misdemeanors.
Posts on Moore’s FB page indicate that Corfman, has claimed several pastors at various churches made sexual advances at her.”
Ok Robbie. Please explain to me how you state this person has “CREDIBILITY” in what she said?
Oh, I forgot, this is politics, so everyone whose says anything against a Republican is automatically credible.
Also, says a lot for the quality of Washington Post journalism.
I wonder if Robbie still has his “I believe Anita” button.

In the interview with Hannity, Moore does admit to knowing and possibly dating (doesn’t recall specifically) the three slightly older girls. He says they were all ‘good girls’.

– Sinking fast? That’s pretty funny. Moore has been accused of molesting a 14 year old girl when he was 32. And in the last 24 hours, his story has hardly been compelling. Yesterday, he said the accusers were lying. Today, he couldn’t say for sure he didn’t date teenagers. So already, part of his initial story has changed.
I’m more than comfortable to be on the side of the argument that believes Roy Moore has no business being in this race because of the serious allegations made against him.

Romney made a fool of himself? What a joke. Romney took a stand against a scumbag candidate who is accused of molesting a 14 year old. By the way, that’s something everyone would be doing here if Moore was a Democrat.

As this predictably plays out, it appears that the democratic national committee’s propaganda arm aka WaPo tracked down and paid a serial accuser and dem activist to make a wild and unsubstantiated claim right before a big election. One that cannot possibly be corroborated and would be laughed out of court, but gives the liberal activists (journalists) an excuse to plaster these accusations on the front pages for an entire month.
You should see my shocked face.
And just as predictably, the serial knee-benders aka rino republicans immediately – of their own volition – come out and condemn the accused conservative and demand that he resign because of these accussations.
You should see my double shocked face.

How convenient that good ole Roy happens to remember the girls who were of age, but doesn’t remember the girl who was under age.
That said, I thought good ole Roy said the whole story was a lie yesterday. Now, he seemed to not be able to recall whether he dated women in their teens.
So we’ve gone from “it’s a lie” to “I recall the girls that were over 16, but I don’t recall the girl who was 14 and I touched”.
“Good ole Roy” is the new Trump Chumps
it could be true …
i believe many men would be attracted to a 14 yo girl
i believe some men would take advantage of a 14 yo girl
but how many 32 yo men wear little boy underpants? (other than robbie of course)
Yes, Robbie. I was noticing that.
The two where some relationship started at 14, he doesn’t recall at all. But the two that he dated when they were 17/18, he sort of thinks he might have dated.
well paul, i am sure you don’t recall the 14 yo girl you molested

I doubt Moore loses much support in the long term… given how much republicans distrust the media. (And how much this kind of accusation has been thrown around)
That said, he is digging himself in a hole by doing what he did tonight in the Sean Hannity interview. He should give this the 30 seconds this accusation warrants by calling it ‘desperate lies from fake news’ and move on to talking about how terrible Jones is.
Don’t get mired in the trap. Change the subject to the issues and move on.

Turns out the accuser is not only an ultra leftist who routinely bashed Trump, Moore, and other republicans on Facebook (which were conveniently deleted), but has also accused other church priests of rape (also conveniently deleted).
Why bother deleting these posts about being raped if they were true? Is it maybe because they are expose her as a serial accuser which, you know, might be problematic for her credibility?

379.The big picture on all of this is simple. If this is a Dan Rather type hit job by Schumer and WaPo, and they get away with it.
They will feel emboldened to go after all in the GOP because they know the Establishment GOP will never fight back
We need Drudge to pick up on the accusers ties to Hillary and Doug Jones. That could change the narrative
Hey, MichiganTheocrat, I was a registered Republican from 1996 to 2006. Then I was a registered Libertarian till 2012. Since 2012, I’ve been a registered Independent.
Never once have I voted for a Democrat though I refused to vote for Trump or McCain in 2016 and 2008 respectively.
You should pay attention more before making unfounded speculation on other people’s partisan allegiance.
391 – I am sure Drudge knows about the story, but he refuses to play because he hates Moore too
I don’t believe for a second McConnell snd Co. actually want to lose this seat.
That sounds like condpiracy mongering off fringe sites like Bejohngalt.com.
Jonesy – From whom are you hearing that the RNC wants Moore to lose? RNC members or people who hate the never defined establishment like you? Theories by like-minded people is just speculation.
I do believe, however, national Republicans will now make more of a concerted effort to take out Steve Bannon’s anointed candidates so as to avoid another debacle like this.*
*I still don’t believe the child molestation allegations sgainst Moore.
Wes – Being critical of Moore makes you a Democrat. Sending checks to Schumer, Reid and Hillary Clinton does not make you a Democrat. How did you not know that?
It may be sufficient and appropriate for Roy Moore to state that if he is convicted for this or any other sexual impropriety, or for a financial impropriety, he will resign; and, if he is indicted, he will consider resigning. But, without so much as indictment, it is offensive to the presumption of innocence for him or anybody else to resign or withdraw.

398. Well said Red.
Write in will not work in my opinion, unless you find a White Knight to run.
He would have to get off the ballot, only way
Looking back, I wish the McConnellhad spent more and defeated Moore.
It wasn’t that McConnell didn’t spend enough, Bitter.
It was that he used his money to take out the wrong person. Senate Leadership Fund should have concentrated on Moore rather than Brooks in the primary. McConnell miscalculated though and assumed Moore would be easier to take out in a runoff.
The easiest way to prevent this aside from not having Sessions become AG was to have Strange refuse Bentley’s appointment. That would have negated the taint of the appointment and ensured Strange wouldn’t have disqualifying baggage over his head that ultimately made Moore look like an acceptable alternative.
What do you mean about a timeline, Jonesy?
In 389, Jonesy “hears” that the GOP is willing to lose the seat but provides no source.
In 404, Jonesy says he does not think McConnell wants to lose the seat.
Jonesy is a man at war with himself.
McConnell does not run the GOP smart ass. Just the Senate Leader.

If the polling is bad, basically the State GOP is going to have to delay the election long enough to get him off the ballot. I doubt the special will be next month if Moore doesn’t show signs of improvement in the next round of polling.
I hate soccer.
Did you get today’s agenda from Bannon?
I doubt Ivey expected this, Jonesy. In any event, the ALGOP certainly doesn’t want Jones to be a Senator.

That might be a pyrrhic victory and force Trump to be like John Adams in late 1800 and early 1801 if things continue on their current trajectory, Jonesy.
I really should have copyrighted “Deadender” here. It no longer has the original meaning.
Unlike Robbie, I voted for Trump. While I hope Trump is not the nominee in 2020. I would vote for him if he was.
Unlike Robbie, I did not proclaim Moore’s accuser to automatically be telling the truth.
Unlike Robbie, I did not support. JEB!

Does anyone have an opinion about the conservative website Big League Politics? I visited the site for the first time earlier today and was impressed by both substance and format.
Bannon also says that trump will win 400evs
I wish Bannon had convinced Trump to run as a Democrat in 2016. I think he would have beaten Hillary and saved us a few extra months of her being on tv.
The one day poll cited on this thread y the gope moderator is junk.
Vetting, this was not moores first race. He has been active for 40 years.
No offense to fellow older people here, ie walt, but moore is too old at 70.
It gets worse for that one, jonesy. She went on her social media to delete things.
She wanted bannon removed from the one group that he was a part of in march. The concern that he was a member of thst group reaks.

Well, that lasted for few hours.
BL, here’s a hint to help you stop shooting.
Stop taking extreme and personal offense anytime someone criticizes republican senate leadership. We all saw how people like Sasse, Flake, and McCain immediately called for the resignation of Moore based on an accusation. Not evidence. Not proof. Not a charge or indictment.
An accusation.
They demanded that Moore should commit an act that would hand democrats a precious senate seat in a state that voted 62% for Trump… based on an accusation
As long as these old Bush-style republicans keep siding with the msm, they will continued to be hated and despised by the base.
And for the record, no, this was not a GOPe inspired smear. The people who claim so give McConnell and company way too much credit. This was a carefully crafted and orchestrated smear by WaPo that allows the media to put Moore and pedophilia in the same headline – while also absolving any legal trouble on Wapo’s part.

Maybe they thought that releasing it a week before the election would be too late (lots of people would have already voted). Or they thought it was too obvious as a hit job. Or perhaps they plan oo rolling out more ‘accusers’ to keep the story alive throughout the campaign.
It was the same with Trump’s access hollywood tape.

If I were dems, I would have rolled out those 8 accussers against Trump first. Get the idea in people’s minds, even if they think these are hoaxes. Let Trump deny it.
Then I would release the locker room tape. after about 2-3 weeks from the first accusations. This would have made them far more powerful.

Just because I voted for him does not mean that I have to like or respect him. He is better than Hillary. That is about it for me. Since I already voted, there is no real way to support or oppose him now.
In 2018, I will vote for all Republican incumbents. If any Trumpers get the nomination for any office, I will vote for them in the GE. Can you say that you would vote for a never defined Establishment Republican in 2018 in the GE if they beat a Trumper in the primary?

– He may be a pedophile, but gosh darn it a pedophile is better than a Democrat. Amirite?
From Society of Professional Journalists’ Code of Ethics:
Be wary of sources offering information for favors or money; do not pay for access to news. Identify content provided by outside sources, whether paid or not.
This is not an outright ban on offering money. But, if money were offered, and not disclosed to the readers of the Washington Post, we should “be wary of” the entire story.
There are also warnings against conflict of interest. Traditionally, media separating news gathering and reporting from editorializing. Today, daily newspapers act like opinion magazines and blur the distinction between reporting and commentary (from a particular perspective). Without a commitment to balanced commentary, the very reasonable warning against conflict of interest is a warning against readers taking the so-called news seriously.
Finally, I will mention that another part of the code of ethics is to treat vulnerable people with care. Vulnerable people are all parts of the Democratic coalition. It’s open season on deplorables and irredeemables.
I think Bannon cares about winning. However, he probably cares about steering a Democrat to victory as much as he cares about a Republican victory. He just wants to win and does not care which team he plays for.

The fact Robbie, Paul and other trolls are pushing the bogus talking points on this issue explains how Trump got elected. You discredit yourself by pushing this nonsense, it has become laughable.
– Bogus talking points? Name one. That good ole Roy’s story has changed? That I find the accuser’s account credible? Why wouldn’t I? Good ole Roy’s story changed within the first 24 hours. He went from “it’s all a lie” to “I know the girls who were of age, but I don’t know the underage girl”. How much else will change with good ole Roy’s story?
BL and Robbie have at least one thing in common. They both think their opinions are facts. 🙂
My opinion, Tine. Since the sentence began with “I think,” that should have been a key to your determination.
You are just mad that when people post statements like “I hear that the Establishment wants Moore to lose” or “McCain says tax bill is DOA” I ask for a source. I don’t believe sources have been provided for those statements.
So I see Redmen4ever fell for the Gateway Pundit story and totally believes a bot account that has often tweeted in Russian and peddles the birther conspiracy.

Phone Rings
Mother answers the phone and Mr. Moore asks if he could see her daughter. He says that I am in my early 30’s.
Mother says no.
Mr. Moore goes quietly away forever.
I guess you now have problems with a man being a gentleman.
– Which is why good ole Roy would pick up the girls in the story around the block from their houses.

I think I have just been called a Roy Moore supporter.
I am sorry Bitter and other A-holes, but I don’t think there will be any points left for the rest of the day.
– No, I know you think Moore is a scumbag.
Hoft did not write the story. He linked to it and the update indicates that theyncoukd not verify it.
Oan is reporting that it is true.
I still say false.
The reporter would not be so dumb
I won’t jump of the Roy Moore attack bandwagon for this allegation because there is a much bigger picture here. It’s not just about Roy Moore.
If you can derail somebody’s political career by making unsubstantiated he said she said accusations from episodes 40 years ago, its a slippery slope that will have no end to it. Nobody will be safe from bogus accusations.
Wobbie is taking the short sighted approach, he hates Moore so he is willing to sacrifice any standard of objectivity to get rid of him. Same with Trump, he is willing to support any bogus theory in order to overturn the legitimate results of the election.
He is too stupid to realize that in the long term these things can come back and be used against candidates he supports.
But then, nobody ever claimed Wobbie was a deep thinker.
There is only one allegation of sexual impropriety, viz., that a 31 year old assistant district attorney molested a 14 year old girl, 39 years ago, in a court house.
That a 31 year old dated “teenage girls,” (16 through 18, in dates involving hugging and kissing, if that) does not corroborate the allegation. It actually contradicts the allegation. Child molesters go after children.
“The single greatest cause that drives an adult to sexually interact with a child is a sexual desire for a little girl or boy.”
“Pedophiles molest 88 percent of our children who are molested. They commit 95 percent of the acts. This is a serious disorder.”
https://www.childmolestationprevention.org/pages/focus_on_the_cause.html
If Roy Moore is convicted in a court of law of molesting a child, he should be removed from office. If he is indicted, I would have to see the evidence as removal might be indicated. (The standard for removal from office doesn’t have to be “beyond a reasonable doubt,” but could be something like “the preponderance of the evidence, as in a civil case).
We know that a Democrat could have sex with an intern in the oval office, and his party will say it’s not impeachable. But, since Republicans will turn on one of their own, nobody need worry about how long a Republican will remain in office if the evidence is developed.
Those who think this is a cut-and-day case, that a district attorney will come forward with an indictment and then share the evidence; or, that a civil case will be filed and then share the evidence, need not fear that Moore, like Bill Clinton, won’t be removed from office.
Question is how did the four women’s (who didn’t know each other) stories end up with the WaPo reporter at the same time? Seems to me that the reporter had to find them. How?
I know Robbie doesn’t care because he hates, but the answers to these questions would help me assess the credibility of the story. Because, while I tend to believe it, the timing smells.
I would support Cuban running as a Dem.
Because if he won he would be better than most of the moonbats that are going to run.
At least he is not against capitalism and profits.
Ironic Robbie, that all the bloggers that you call dimwits, predicted a Trump victory even after the audio tape.
What did you post after the tape Robbie? That Hillary would win Utah?
Why is your cred any better than Gateway Pundit?
Cuban endorsed Hillary, sat in front row for her at debates.
Wait until the video of him trying to assault NBA ref’s comes to light again
I’m taking the shortsighted approach? Moore is a scumbag who has no respect for the law. He’s been thrown off the state supreme court twice. And now he has been accused, credibly in my opinion, of molesting a 14 year old when he was in his 30’s. On top of that, his total denial of the story has already changed in just the first 24 hours. What other parts of his denial will change?
I’m sorry, but it’s not shortsighted to say the Republican Party needs to get as far away from Roy Moore as possible just as it was right for the party to get far away from Bob Packwood back in the 1990’s. The last thing the Republican Party needs is to be accused of turning a blind eye to molestation and pedophilia. That’s unless you think the ads Democrats will run in 2018 accusing Republican of ignoring pedophilia just to win a Senate race are fine?
Robbie in too deep. Never can admit he was wrong, like a stubborn old man
I’m nearly 50 years old now. I lived during the 1980s when Roy was in his dating prime. However, I wouldn’t have even considered dating a high school student when I was an adult. And I don’t recall men doing such a thing for the most part. There were some, but they were always considered pretty creepy. Of course, I was in Indiana not Alabama. Maybe things are different down there.
The timing stinks.
Roy Moore has been in countless campaigns, why weren’t these allegations made before?
All of a sudden, his candidacy for a national office attracts this type of accusation, dug up by a leftist news source with an obvious agenda.
It smells to high heaven.
555. Bill Clinton was disbarred, raped J Broderick and paid 850k to P Jones while POTUS.

Considering you think Moore is a scumbag who has no respect for the law, would you expect him to do anything other than deny impropriety?”
It’s not the point.
I would not be surprised if Moore’s lack of respect for the law caused him to break it in other instances besides the ones he lost his position about.
But you can’t use that to believe any allegation against is true. Each one has to be taken on its own merits.
If we allow someone to come forward after 40 years right before an election to derail anyone’s candidacy, we are opening a horribly dangerous precedent.
No matter what we think of Roy Moore, unless there is some substantiation or evidence to back up this woman’s story, it should not be used to derail his candidacy, no matter how tempting it is in the short term.
This kind of thing, if allowed, will come back to haunt candidates YOU support. Bet on it.

The Alabama governor has wide discretion to suspend and/or postpone the special election. According to a story in the New York Times, Republicans have discussed that option with Alabama’s governor and she has said she’s interested in it, but wants to know that Trump will back the decision.

Jerry Brown unveiled a plan Saturday for a coalition of U.S. cities, states and businesses to meet America’s commitments to combat climate change as federal support from the Trump administration stalls on the issue.”
Meanwhile, in Boston
“Boston broke a 116-year-old record Saturday morning when the temperature dropped to 23 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.
The previous record low for November 11 was set at 24 degrees in 1901.
Saturday marked the second consecutive day of record-breaking cold for the Boston area. On Friday, the city broke its previous 2004 record low temperature of 25 degrees.

France’s leader,Macron, is married to a pretty woman about 30 years his elder. They either met in high school or college where she was his teacher.
Do you have problems with that relationship?
Also, you have been throwing around the word pedophilia. To be a pedophile, must one engage in a sexual act with a minor or is someone a pedo if they just converse with a minor? Hold hands with a minor? Kiss a minor?
– Watching you look for ways to excuse good ole Roy fondling a 14 year old girl has been funny and sad.
I’ll be interested to see how you feel about this next year when great Republicans like Barbara Comstock are fighting off campaign ads that she excused good ole Roy and pedophilia.
Can someone tell me why Bloomberg was ever a Republican? He was further left as Mayor than Fiorello LaGuardia or John Lindsay–both of whom were barely Republicans (though Lindsay became a Democrat toward the end of his political career).
I can just imagine good ole Roy riding up to the local high school football game in his Camero hoping to catch some tail.

All of this is proof Moore had sex with a 14-year-old how?
Guess what, Robbie.
There are girls of legal age in high school.
I wouldn’t touch them with a 39 1/2′ pole, but they’re there.
It’s creepy.
It’s not something most people would do.
It’s not illegal unless the girl’s below the AOC.
It’s circumstantial evidence at best.
Robbie seems not to understand the difference between improper and illegal.

I often wonder how different the country might be today had Reagan picked Jack Kemp or some of the others available to him.
Common and legal btw.
Creepy maybe so, but not illegal.
Bush probably really did believe his own words about Putin because he is a naive gentry republican.
Trump would say similar words but knows that it’s all BS. Putin would also know that Trump knows it’s all BS.
Tina, I know a situation where a teacher in his early thirties married a young woman who had been one of his students and she was in her early 20s. I think it was an 11 or 12 year gap. But it was a unique situation and everyone who knew them both thought it was a good fit and today they are still happily married.
As said before, ‘the three’ others in the WaPo story all agree that Moore never did anything wrong to them, and of course they were all of age.
So they never had any reason to be part of this story. The fact that Moore settled down, married, and has stayed married all these years suggests to me there was nothing nefarious about his dating when he was in early 30s. Not my cup of tea, but certainly not illegal, and not even offensive to these three women by their own testimony.
The only one that matters is the accusation of the one woman who says he assaulted when she was 14. That’s it. If he is guilty of that, then throw the book at him. If not, then he is right to sue her for defamation.

JC – Everybody likes the What If game especially with hindsight. I am open to the possibility that the world be different and better without the Bush Presidencies. Presumably, there would have no President Bill Clinton or Obama. No President Clinton means no Hillary. Good things.
Are you open to the possibility it could have turned out worse? Maybe in 1988, the Dems don’t nominate a technocrat with no personality like Dukakis. Maybe they nominate somebody who wins.
Assume in your scenario that Kemp wins. In 1990, Kuwait is invaded. Does President Kemp put together a coalition to drive the Iraqis out? Maybe. What if the coalition does not contain ME nations? This leads to a war against Israel.
What if Kemp decides to not fight. Hussein uses a stranglehold on oil to fully fund a nuclear program earlier.
Maybe we get President McCain or President Gore or President Dole or President Biden in 1990s and 2000s. Better or worse? Pure speculation. Different? Absolutely.

689 Wes
I’m not going to copy your statement because it’s too long, but whether it’s legal for good ole Roy to chase high school tail isn’t the issue.
The issue is good ole Roy claimed the initial story on Thursday was a lie. Then under questioning from Hannity of all people, he changed his story just 24 hours later.
So we went from “it’s all a lie” to “part of it’s a lie and part of it’s not a lie”. And isn’t it convenient the part of his story that changed dealt with girls who were of legal age.
When someone changes their story so quickly, after vehemently denying it, that leads me to believe the person is very likely lying about the whole thing.
Again, this is politics and not a court of law. The bigger picture is how this affects the Republican Party. And if a clown like Roy Moore stays in the race with this hanging over his head, it’s going to leave the entire party open to criticisms it turned a blind eye to pedophilia just to win a race.
We’re just going to disagree. If good ole Roy wants to defend himself and clear his name, more power to him. It should not be on the back of the Republican Party.

ROY MOORE
“Now I want to address something that some people have come here to hear about,” Moore said in front 50 or so supporters, turning his attention to the giant pack of media who came to Alabama to report on this. “Shortly after becoming the Republican nominee for the United States Senate, the Washington Post began an attack on the Foundation for Moral Law, on my wife, and on me. For weeks, we read about my salary which they distorted, about taxes where they said we were paid money we never got. But we endured that.”
“Later, they came out and endorsed my opponent in this race,” he continued. “Just two days ago, the Washington Post published yet another attack on my character and reputation in a desperate attempt to stop my political campaign for the United States Senate. These attacks about a minor are completely false and untrue about something that happened nearly 40 years ago. But more than being completely false and untrue, they are very hurtful to me personally.”
“I’ve been married to my wife Kayla for nearly 33 years. We have four children. I have one daughter, and I have five granddaughters. I have the highest regard for the protection of young children,” Moore explained. “When I returned to Gadsen 40 years ago after military service, I went to work for the office of the District Attorney. As a student of the law, I have served in public office off and on for the last 40 years. To be attacked for allegations of sexual misconduct contradicts my entire career in law.”
“I wanted to make it clear to the media present and the people present, I have not provided alcoholic beverages—beer or anything else—to a minor. I have not been guilty of sexual misconduct with anyone,” he declared. “These allegations came only four and a half weeks before the general election on Dec. 12. Why now?”
“For forty years I have been closely scrutinized in the press and the public media. I have had investigations by the attorney general, I’ve had investigations by the judicial inquiry commission on more than one occasion, I’ve had investigations by the court of the judiciary, I’ve been in five statewide campaigns in which they do opposition research—they do investigations, as you can see in every one I’ve ever run—and three county elections and two major controversies over religious liberty and the Ten Commandments and same-sex marriage,” he continued. “I’ve been investigated more than any other person in this country. That grown women would wait forty years to come right before an election to bring charges is absolutely unbelievable.”
At that point, the crowd in attendance rose, giving Moore a standing ovation.
“The Democrats, and the Republican establishment, know the importance of this election,” Moore continued. “In fact, most people in America know the importance of this election. They view it as a prelude to the elections coming in 2018. It may very well determine the future of our country.”
“My opponent is 11 points behind—that came out just days before this article. They’re desperate. This article is a prime example of fake news, an attempt to divert attention from the true issues that face our country like healthcare, military readiness, tax reform, immigration, and the national debt,” he said. “We do not intend to let the Democrats or the establishment Republicans or anybody else behind this story stop this campaign. There are investigations going on. In the next few days, there will be revelations about the motivations and the content of this article. They will be brought to the public. We fully expect the people of Alabama to see through this charade and to vote in the [election] coming up.”
“As Mr. Armistead said, we do not engage in negative campaigning. We haven’t, and I’ve been blistered with articles and attacks the last two to three months and on television,” Moore stated. “I do not expect the Washington Post to stop. I think they have a political agenda. And I think they are running that agenda, and everybody in this room and every person watching on these cameras should ask themselves that isn’t it strange that after 40 years of constant investigation these people have waited until four weeks prior to the general election to bring their complaints? It’s not a coincidence. It’s an intentional act to stop my campaign. May God bless you, the state of Alabama, and the United States of America.”
The crowd rose to give Judge Moore a second standing ovation as he wrapped his speech. This story focused on Judge Moore’s comments on the allegations. More to come on the actual content of his speech about Veterans Day, including his time in Vietnam.
http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2017/11/11/multiple-standing-ovations-for-judge-roy-moore-as-he-hammers-washington-post-smears-at-veterans-day-event/amp/
—————————————————————-
Well said, Senator Moore
Regarding dating girls of legal age: it’s legal. Furthermore, the women who were teenagers back then, did not allege any sexual acts, only hugging and kissing, if that. Even in terms of social mores, that was Alabama 39 years ago. The older teenagers are brought into the next allegation in order to establish a pattern (when the truth is, these three incidents contradict the profile of a child molester; child molesters are interested in pre-pubicient girls and boys).
Regarding the one allegation that raises legal questions: The allegation is that a 31-year old man, under pretext of baby-sitting the 14-year old child of a woman bumped-into in a courthouse, is that he touched her bra and panties. The whole thing is preposterous. But, it turns out, the woman who was 14-years old 39 years ago, has a history of misdemeanors, divorces, accusations against other men none of which have been proven, and is an activist Democrat. Of course she’s an activist Democrat. That is the party for people who hate America because their lives are messed up.
Let me flip this around: if there was a recent case (within the statute of limitations for the crime involved, or within the past decade if there is no statute of limitations), with probable cause, that a person is a child molester, then it would be good for other women who claim to have had been molested to come forward. Almost all child molesters are serial child molesters. I believe we do eventually catch most of them; but, unfortunately, few upon their first act.
What somebody has apparently done is developed what appears to be a bone fide case against Roy Moore based on what people think is involved in the law: one incident with probable cause that is backed-up with a pattern of incidents perhaps none of which, on its own, achieves probable cause.
In any case, if there is actual evidence here, such that a D.A. would obtain an indictment, then, depending on the weight of the evidence, Roy Moore or any Republican could be removed from office. The Republican Party isn’t that other party. We are not a criminal gang that seeks votes by offering free stuff and by appealing to people on the basis of identity politics.
Regarding George Takai, surveys indicate that about as many boys are sexually-molested as girls. Then, the patterns diverge. At about 19 or so, males stopped being sexually-assaulted while females continue to be sexually-assaulted. Forcible rape and sexual-assault is primarily about big and strong people taking advantage of smaller and weaker people. To a Republican, the primary purpose of government is to protect us (and this primarily refers to the weak among us), not to take from the productive to give to those who don’t work.
We need polling from lord. Asshat.

Disgraceful. This encompass every despicable thing that I despise about the GOPe. Romney and the political dynasty he is trying to build can go to hell.
I don’t like the timing of the allegation of the then 14 year old. However the idea of a person 30 year old man kissing minors — that is creepy. We don’t need any Senators who are pedophiles. The Judge needs to come clean and be specific about his dating life.
So does anyone think that Alabama voters, who know Moore more than any of us….for a long time…….will consider this a sordid hit job by WAPO and Co. and vote accordingly? Or believe that something that happened 40 years is not relevant to today? Or that insofar as the way a Senator’s votes affects their own lives, the most “immoral” Republican is better than the most “moral” Democrat?
If they keep moore on the ballot, every member of the bama gop delegation must back him then Bay. Gov, shelby, us reps.
The Judge just needs to give a definitive answer about whether he dated minors or not. With his service and record I would believe him. But he has not been definitive at all about this matter. A 30 year old dating an 18 year old is as common as it is morally acceptable.
And yes, it does go both ways. My 29 year old HS teacher just married her 19 year old former student (he was 15 when she was his teacher. They weren’t dating then).
Wahl is a local Alabama pollster, based in the state, and is regarded for his accuracy in the state. The pollster’s firm, WT&S Consulting, did some work for Moore’s campaign in the primary and runoff—but these polls, Breitbart News has confirmed, were not commissioned by Moore’s campaign and were conducted independently. That said, WT&S Consulting nailed the runoff numbers accurately. Its last poll, the day before the runoff election, showed Moore crushing establishment-backed appointed Sen. Luther Strange 54.3 percent to 45.7 percent—an 8.6 percent gap. The final election results were 54.6 percent for Moore to 45.4 percent for Strange—or a 9.2 percent gap.
The second survey, conducted Saturday evening—two days after the Post piece hit, roiling Alabama’s political scene—shows Moore and Jones with about the exact same percentages as before. Moore’s position in this second poll is 49.8 percent—meaning he only dropped 0.2 percent since the story hit—and Jones has only picked up 0.4 percent to reach 39.6 percent total. The second survey, which polled 1,536 likely voters with a margin of error of 3.3 percent, has 10.5 percent as undecided.
As long as both parties are of legal age, it shouldn’t matter at all.
I believe the allegations. I heard his nondenial and lack of memory of sex with teens. Moore should step aside. Would you want your kids daycare to do innocent until proven guilty with child molestation accusations with their workers? Of course not!
Or would you hire a housekeeper that has numerous accusations of theft but no convictions? Of course not!

Mitchell is living in a fantasy world.
Mueller was hired for one reason – to delegitimize the election and hunt for a crime. End of story. He is not looking into the mountain of crimes committed by Obama and friends. He is not interested in justice.
762…..then why did mueller appoint all those Clinto people as prosecutors?
766 – the theory – which I don’t subscribe to – is that Mueller hires democrats to investigate democrats in order to increase the legitimacy of the investigation/prosecution.
Well, undecided on the theory.
However, it is strange that mueller met with trump, the day before the appointment of the sc, to interview for the fbi head.
Mueller served one 10 yr term, which was extended for 2 years,
Unless the senate would change the law to more than one, 10 year term, mueller was ineligible for the fbi position.
So, why was mueller interviewed for a position he could not hold? And a positiin, he did not want.
If the letters after the name were reversed and it was a fan probably child molester I would pray the dems were stupid enough to leave them on the ticket

I disagree with SoHope. Decades-old unsubstantiated allegations should not destroy political careers and reputations.
I said the same thing ehen Congressman Dale Kildee (D-MI) faced 50-year-old allegations of child molestation a few years ago.
If we let this be the norm, how quickly are qualified candidates going to decline to run for office because sleazy opponents will try to destroy their reputations?
We’ve seen a similar thing in New York where political hopefuls have begun using loopholes in election laws to get opponents tossed off the ballot.
It never ends if we don’t stop it now.

This isn’t like the situation that destroyed our own JulStol’s political career. There we had fairly recent allegations backed up by evidence and partial admission on the part of the principals.
Here we have something from decades ago that just surfaced despite Moore’s previous high-profile runs for statewide office.
The standard should be higher than this.

767. Sorry Chi, you beat me to it on optics with Mueller
Of course no mention of new Alabama polls at RRH
In other words, good ole Roy may be a pedophile, but at least he’ll vote for the wall.
Ann Coulter?
@AnnCoulter
As an Alabaman said on @chucktodd yesterday, right now, all that matters is that Roy Moore will vote for a wall. Luther Strange wouldn’t & the Dem definitely won’t.
Presumption of innocence is indeed concerning crimes. Furthermore, the standard of proof regarding crimes in “beyond a reasonable doubt”
The standard of proof in torts is “preponderance of the evidence,” a lesser, but still meaningful standard. This is why I say removal from office need not be predicated on a conviction. This lesser but still meaningful standard, which Bill Clinton achieved, is reasonable.
The standard for an indictment is merely “reasonable suspicion.” This is hardly anything. The accused doesn’t even have an opportunity to present evidence or make an argument.
The standard for the National Inquirer is “we paid somebody to say it.” This is nothing.
The standard for the Washington Post is somewhere between that of the National Inquirer and an indictment.
With regard to dating, there is no controversy: Roy Moore dated teenagers of legal age when he was a young man, and there is no controversy that all that was involved in dating was hugging and kissing, if that.
With regard to inappropriately touching the bra and panties of a 14-year old: aside from the he-said-she-said aspect of this, the only evidence is the “pattern” involving dating of legal age teenagers. Yet, this is not a pattern of pedophilia. Child molesters go after children. Pre-pubicient boys and/or girls. And, almost all of them are serial molesters.
Since we’re on the subject of people being stupid, let me share an old yarn from a Southern Democrat: Did you know my opponent went to a college with blacks? Not only that, they matriculated together.

https://www.nytimes.com/2017/11/11/us/roy-moore-alabama-senate.html”
Its too early in the process; it is going to take some solid factual evidence to force him out; and disillusion his supporters. My hunch is if it is going to happen — it will be at the end of the month.
Both parties want him out; even Trump was open
to the possibility. His “crime” is he is a felony creep.
– The issue with waiting until the end of the month is it will look like he’s being dumped simply because he can’t win. If he’s dumped now, it will look like he was dumped for being a creep.

It has been and continues to be the party of stupid. Can you imagine Democrats ever allowing one of their seats to go down the drain?
Not in a million years would they let that happen.
Republicans cannot get out of their own way. Schumer laughing his ass off.
– I agree 100%. Democrats would have already made him disappear. Just ask Toricelli.
So Harry Entsen is a 538 Hack for Nate the Skate Silver?
Robbie why do you quote Dem Tweeters at every occasion?

I disagree with SoHope. Decades-old unsubstantiated allegations should not destroy political careers and reputations.
I said the same thing ehen Congressman Dale Kildee (D-MI) faced 50-year-old allegations of child molestation a few years ago.
If we let this be the norm, how quickly are qualified candidates going to decline to run for office because sleazy opponents will try to destroy their reputations?
We’ve seen a similar thing in New York where political hopefuls have begun using loopholes in election laws to get opponents tossed off the ballot.
It never ends if we don’t stop it now.
– You’re talking about the way things SHOULD be. That’s not the way things are, though.
So Robbie are you going to ignore the top Bama pollster today?

– Yes. It shows Moore is an amazingly weak candidate. We’re talking about Alabama for goodness sake. But just as importantly, the polls after Akin shot his mouth off in 2012 didn’t immediately collapse for him. It took about a week to 10 days before that really happened.
A competent Republican in Alabama should easily get 65% of the vote. We nominated a creep who has never run strongly statewide and now appears to be at best a creep and at worst a pedophile.
There are about 1000000 Republicans in Alabama. Almost everyone could probably do better than good ole Roy. But let’s all go to the mat for a creep. Who cares if that means every Republican will have to spend 2018 answering questions about him, right?
What exactly could the ILSC do to force Moseley Braun to leave the race, Jonesy? She clearly had no inclination to leave the race–unlike Torricelli after Democrats abandoned him in 2002.

Personally I NEVER wanted Moore to be the nominee. He’s a sanctimonious, egotistical, showboating, lawbreaking theocrat and a weak candidate. This shouldn’t be the way to remove him from the ballot though.

Charges were dropped after Torricelli left the race, Mikey. He was obviously guilty, but the prosecutors dropped the case after he left politics and went into real estate.
Maybe they thought waking up next to Laura Ingraham was punishment enough for his crimes.
808 – totally agree. Good list of reasons I wouldn’t have voted for him. However, there was a legitimate primary where the AL voters made a clear choice. That should be respected, and not overturned because of an unsubstantiated claim from decades ago.

– Anyone who follows politics knows McCaskill was a goner in 2012 to any Republican but Akin. And Akin still probably would’ve won had he not opened his mouth. It didn’t matter that Mo wasn’t as red as it is now. She was widely unpopular and would have lost.
Where is Richard Shelby in all of this?
