Jones Leads By 10% in AL/Moore Leads By 9% in AL

It looks like we are having a repeat of Virginia with polling coming out just one day before the election showing absurdly different results. While Emerson College sees Roy Moore pulling away with a 9% lead, Fox News is showing Doug Jones surging ahead ot a double-digit lead in the other direction.

US SENATE – ALABAMA (Emerson)
Roy Moore (R) 53%
Doug Jones (D) 44%

US SENATE – ALABAMA (Fox News)
Doug Jones (D) 50%
Roy Moore (R) 40%

The Emerson poll was done December 7-9 while the Fox News poll was done December 7-10, both among likely voters.

know that there is a boycott. I do not think it is an impactful as Jason believes it to be.”

    Zzzzzz…

Where did I say I thought it was so effective.

I said I hope the NFL continues to lose viewers and spectators and sales, and the fact they are down is not in dispute, and that it eventually impacts the salaries of the players.

I have personally not called for any boycott, I said I was no longer buying NFL games online but still watching games on TV.

Monmouth also has it 48-44 Jones if it’s a higher more traditional turnout like in 2014.

Here is the conclusion by the Monmouth pollster:

“Basically, the various turnout and vote intent models suggest that a Moore victory is the more likely outcome, but there is still an opening for Jones. He needs to get relatively higher turnout in Democratic areas and keep GOP-leaning voters who are uncomfortable with Moore from ultimately choosing him once they get into the privacy of the voting booth,” said Murray.

  11. Redmen4ever says:

Last year, one of the things I tracked was the spread between live caller and anonymous polls. This spread ballooned after the Billy Bush tapes. I suspected Trump was not as far behind as the RealClear average put him. Part of Trump’s surge during the last month of the campaign was narrowing this spread (the other two parts were cannibalizing Johnson’s support and doing well among the remaining undecided voters).

Here in Alabama, the more shrill are the attacks on Roy Moore, it looks like the greater the difference between the live caller and the anonymous polls.

  12. Robbie says:

I expect good ole Roy, a child molester, will win the Senate race.

My personal hope is good ole Roy, a child molester, loses because he is a disgraceful human being who will saddle the Republican party with an endless stream of negative stories that will seriously hurt the party in 2018 and 2020.

Finally, it will disgust me to watch as soulless Trump shills here cheer on the election of a child molester.

  13. Robbie says:

I’m not sure NYCmike will be able to contain himself with these two deadender candidates. Having to choose between the two must be like an embarrassment of riches for him and his cause of making Schumer Majority Leader by supporting “send a message” candidates.

    – No.

Roy Moore is a vile pervert and a child molester. He is a liar whose story has changed multiple times.

I’m not surprised you are willing to defend a scumbag like Moore though. After all, he is just a Southern version of your boy Trump, a serial sexual harasser who spent several years pushing a baseless conspiracy theory that Obama was not born in America.

Maybe I should consider asking you to check and see if you still have a soul?

  17. Robbie says:

    Post-Christian Democrats

Freed from the restriction against false accusation.

Roy Moore has been accused of (1) dating legal age teenage girls when he was a single man; (2) inappropriate touching touching the bra and panties of a 14-year old girl; and (3) assaulting a 16-year old girl by holding her shoulders to the point of bruising her; all of these things 40 years ago.

    (2) and (3) are serious matters and should be investigated. (3) appears to be a completely bogus allegation, but it would be a simple matter for the FBI to age of the signature in a yearbood said to be Moore’s. If the yearbook holds up, (3) can be taken as corroborating (2).

There is no need for anybody to asphyxiate himself. Especially anybody who has a $6,000 deductible.

And since you brought up 2016, let’s talk about your pathetic hero Ted Cruz. At the start of the race, Teddy boy slurped Trump because he thought he could pick up Donnie Dingbat’s support when Trump flamed out.

When he Trump didn’t flame out and crapped all over Teddy boy, Teddy pretended to be principled and righteous in his indignation of Trump. He even rhetorically stuck a knife in Donnie at the convention.

But then Teddy threw away his principle and endorsed Trump, despite the fact Trump attacked Teddy boy’s wife, just before Access Hollywood and now he’s little more than a neutered errand boy for Trump.

“State Drops Case Against Lucian Wintrich, White House Correspondent For Gateway Pundit, In UConn Tussle“: A moment of clarity in Connecticut, where reporter and public speaker Lucian Wintrich was attacked by Catherine Gregory, a local community college employee who stole his speaking material. Incredibly, when Wintrich tried to take his notes back, UConn police charged *him* with disorderly conduct. Says Wintrich’s lawyer:

“Free speech matters, it’s OK to be white, black, brown or anything in between,” he said. “My client came to Connecticut and was treated like a criminal for no reason. He sought to obtain his notes back when they were stolen by reasonable means, the prosecution saw that.”

similar to how almost a year into the presidency and the dems are still trying to overthrow the democratically elected president

as opposed to simply working to defeat trump in the next scheduled election.

it is not enough that they disagree with trump (or moore, or whatever candidate they are against that day)

they insist that you have the same opinion or you are an evil person,

not someone who simply disagrees with them,

I have “sexual harassment fatigue,” and am tired of the platoons of women coming out of the woodwork to courageously share an impropriety they had with a man — sometimes, in the case of Moore, decades ago. If these women felt so humiliated, slighted, harassed as they are now describing, then courage would have been to slam the man, come out and confront him at the time of the incident. In fact isn’t courage all about facing your fears, rather than hiding them until it’s much easier to verbalize them?

Somehow, waiting to jump on the proverbial band wagon — when it’s now a chic, popular thing to do — just diminishes at least those who keep emphasizing how brave these women are to come out from under their cover, all these years.

Because of this I kind of hope Moore wins, goes through the gauntlet of an ethics probe, and then, come what may, have due process discover or uncover if any misbehavior ever occurred. That would be the fairest way to process this whole politicized debacle, IMHO.

he also needs to stop mentioning things people like, e.g, coffee

he should say, “most middle class families won’t even get a new american made car”

plus i know that people like him get triple, venti, half sweet, non-fat, caramel macchiatos every day, so it actually is pretty big money.

    lisab 180

Andrew Klavan, a fine novelist & screen writer, had a Powerline article about that. He says stuff a lot better than I do, but his basic point was, if you wait 38 years, there isn’t much we can do for you.

  182. DW says:

Here is a metaphor on how some frame arguments on HHR:

Just to prove how strong the ACC is this year in men’s NCAA hoops, consider the team currently in LAST (15th) place in the ACC conference standings is currently ranked 4th in the country!

  183. lisab says:

if you wait 38 years, there isn’t much we can do for you.

i agree … and i am not one to suffer abuse at work,

my general rule is that if you sexually assault me, i’m leaving visible scars

  184. mnw says:

Klavan is really a good writer, Lisa. He works the Stephen King beat, but is a lot better at it, imo. Kind of Stephen King for people who think King sux.

He’s that rare bird, a Hollywood conservative. A couple of his novels were made into not-bad films, but I can’t remember the names.

  185. lisab says:

  189. mnw says:

I don’t like horror either, but that isn’t what Klavan does, exactly. “Don’t Say a Word” was one of his films & a modest hit.

OH, BTW, THE RUSSIANS ARE USING THE GREEN BANK OBSERVATORY IN WV TO STUDY THIS COMET/ALIEN SPACECRAFT.

    Here we go again…

Comedian Jimmy Fallon bringing his baby onto the opening monologue to bloviate about how his baby has $500,000 worth of medical care needs and how DJT and the Rs are irresponsible for planning to give big tax cuts to “the rich people” while we have all these medical care needs of little babies…”

Fallon’s version of taking the knee.

I find it almost impossible to watch the late night “used to be comedy” shows–that USED TO BE a good diversion from all the 24/7 hate and angst–as they have all become so politicized.

No watch pro feetsball…no watch Fallon and the other knee takers who peddle their own cause of the moment instead of just DOING THEIR FRICKING JOB AND ENTERTAINING US…

  210. MichiganGuy says:

Since polls are all over the place I decided to see what the polls were during the Republican primary.

    Alabama Senate Republican Primary:

    (Trafalgar)

    Moore 57%

    Strange 41%

    Moore + 16%

    (Emerson)

    Moore 50%

    Strange 40%

    Moore +10

    (Gravis)

    Moore 48%

    Strange 40%

    Moore +8

    Final Results:

    Moore 54.6%

    Strange 45.4%

    Moore +9.2

As you can see Emerson and Gravis were only off by 1%. Trafalgar was off by nearly 7%. Foxnews didn’t do a poll. So, Emerson and Gravis are the only polls that have any credibility in polling Alabama’s off year election.

    Alabama Senate General:

    (Emerson)

    Moore 53%

    Jones 44%

    Moore +9

    (Gravis)

    Moore 49%

    Jones 45%

    Moore +4

So, my final prediction is (drum roll)

    Moore 52%

    Jones 46%

    Write-In 2%

    Moore +6

  211. Redmen4ever says:

During the past four weeks, I have polls aggregating a quality-adjusted sample size of 18,000, with an average 4 point advantage for Roy Moore. The problem is that the high quality, live caller polls (WP, Fox, Monmouth) in the mix deliver very different results.

The Democratic strategy has been to make the Republican candidate a tar baby and suppress Republican turnout. The problem with polling in this environment is that if the strategy is working, it will impact willingness to participate in live-caller polls. This is called non-response bias. Weighting by demographics might not be a sufficient fix to correct for this problem. We have seen this problem of non-response bias time and time again during recent elections. We see it right now in the Trump’s job approval numbers, comparing Gallup and other live-caller polls to Raz and other automated-caller and internet-based polls.

If I am correct, Moore will outperform the average. I’ll stick with yesterday’s guess: Moore 53, Jones 45, Other 2.
