Trump Trails in Michigan

The Detroit News and The Glengariff Group released a General Election poll earlier this week that shows Donald Trump trailing four Democrats in a bid to win in the state of Michigan again in 2020.

PRESIDENT – MICHIGAN (Glengariff Group)
Joe Biden (D) 53%
Donald Trump (R-inc) 40%

Kamala Harris (D) 47%
Donald Trump (R-inc) 42%

Bernie Sanders (D) 52%
Donald Trump (R-inc) 41%

Elizabeth Warren (D) 46%
Donald Trump (R-inc) 43%

This poll was done January 24-26 among 600 likely voters.

  1. jason says:

So the candidates that actually declared are ahead of Trump in Michigan by 5 and 3 points respectively?

Pardon me if I don’t panic right now.

  2. Wobbles says:

    Ignore this.

My sources in MI say Warren is ahead by 25 and Kamala by 30.

Yes, they had Hillary by 10 in MI on the eve of the election, but they can’t always be wrong.

    Socialist 2020!

  3. jason says:

Thank you Bitter for your kind words regarding Mrs. Jason’s butter.

I could have bought her a power churner but I told her the butter is so good with the manual one, why risk ruining a good thing.

  4. Wobbles says:

I want to make my position clear regarding 2020.

I will not vote for Trump even though I realize that his opponent will be a moonbat socialist.

I will blame jason for electing a moonbat socialist because he will vote for Trump.

I hope it is clear now, jason has a way of twisting things around, but I think there can be no question of my logic as it is unequivocally stated above.

  5. Bitterlaw says:

As Amos Stoltzfuss says, “You can’t churn spoiled milk into good butter.”

  6. dblaikie says:

Between fall out from the shutdown to the harmfull effects the trade struggle with China has had with Michigan workers this poll is hardly surprising. However, things are looking up with China and I still believe that Trump turned the corner with the shutdown. In order to continue that momentum, he just needs to declare an emergency and let it go to the courts. If Congress doesn’t like that then put in funding for the wall. And as far all that clap trap about if a emergency is declared that will give the dems cover to do it when they are in charge. Well, my only response is Harry Reid. In other words they are going to do that anyone regardless of what Trump does.

  7. dblaikie says:

anyway not anyone hate those typos

  8. Michael says:

I don’t think that Michigan will vote for a far left Demmocrat in 2020. John James will also do very well and should win the senate race.

  9. Michael says:

My prediction is Patriots 41 Rams 10. This will be an easy win for the Patriots.

  10. Bitterlaw says:

Looking sharp in your blue suit, Michael. It might be a little flashy in Media but you’re young.

  11. Michael says:

I don’t care as long as the ladies can easily take off my suit!

  12. Bitterlaw says:

We’re you traded back to the other team?

  13. Michael says:

Yes I was. I had a date last night and I have one tonight too. Tonights date is prettier but has smaller breasts and is a little thicker. I think she’ll be ok though.

  14. Wes says:

James should beat Peters, Mike? I’d like to see it, but I highly doubt it.

As for Trump’s carrying MI, I consider that occurrence even less likely than a James victory over Peters. MI is still a Dem-leaning state with suburbs trending against Trump. A repeat victory there is at best unlikely.

  15. janz says:

Is James definitely running for the senate seat in MI?

  16. NYCmike says:

“We’re you traded back to the other team?”

-This was established a while ago.

  17. NYCmike says:

“Tonights date is prettier but has smaller breasts and is a little thicker. I think she’ll be ok though.”

-This remark tells me that his conversion back might just be for show.

Keep this type of objectification in the locker room, sport.

  18. NYCmike says:

Is it just me, or does Michael have a very strong resemblance to Agent Smith in The Matrix?

  19. Bitterlaw says:

I thought Michael’s boyfriend challenged the trade.

  20. CG says:

    This is not “the” Michael.

Possibly, one of jason’s many characters.

  21. NYCmike says:

-Does that make jason or “CG” Obi-Wan?

  22. CG says:

    I’m NeverEmperor

  23. Chicon says:

Mike – things looking up for the Isles with bowling ball head as coach. He’s a good man, too.

  24. Chicon says:

    Yep, fake Michael.

  25. NYCmike says:

    “bowling ball head” 🙂

He has them playing FAST! And good defense! Like it.

    I thought that was Michael.

  26. NYCmike says:

    “I’m NeverEmperor”

-That is funny, except that you think Trump acts like an emperor…….while laughing at him when the Speaker of the House wins a round.

First time in history that ever happened to an “emperor”…….but then again, you seem to be changing definitions of words on a daily basis lately.

  27. CG says:

When did I call Trump an Emperor?

If he were one, he would be one without any clothes to be sure.

  28. CG says:

If Trump were any Star Wars character, clearly he’d be Jabba.

Good thing for him that Robert Mueller does not own a gold plated bikini.

  29. NYCmike says:

“If he were one, he would be one without any clothes to be sure.”

Socialists, you have a math problem.

  35. SanDiegoCitizen says:

Am impressed with the Democrats. They have stepped up their game and are now acting as crazy as Trump. Plus they have several crazies speaking in unison; all sorts of loonies on parade.

  36. lisab says:

do you like movies about gladiators?

  37. SanDiegoCitizen says:

    34. “Socialists, you have a math problem.”

What math problem; that is socialist calculus at work. It was not easy for Venezuela to go into insolvency, they had to work hard at it.

CBS finds another yearbook page from the va governor.

On that page, the governor uses a racial epithet.

  51. lisab says:

  52. Phil says:

Looking back at 30 year old yearbooks should only matter in cases involving conservative judicial nominees.

Nothing to see here with the governor.

    Impeach Kavanaugh.

  53. Phil says:

So was the governor the black face or the guy in the sheet? Must be the blackface because I’m pretty sure the guy in the KKK outfit was most likely Bret Kavanaugh.

  54. jason says:

    This is not “the” Michael.

Possibly, one of jason’s many characters.”

Corey is seeing jason characters everywhere?

I actually only have one character here, and everyone knows which one it is.

  57. Phil says:

The governor will now be made comfortable while a discussion ensues.

  58. NYCmike says:

  61. sandiegocitizen says:

My hunch is political associates of the governor knew about the year book and kept it secret. When he became a political liability with the infanticide comment, they acted quickly to abort his politcal career. There is little loyalty in a pack if hyenas

  62. SanDiegoCitizen says:

    63. That is a brutal tweet for the Democrats.

  63. SanDiegoCitizen says:

Amazon is getting a warm welcome from NYC’s leftist mayor:

“New York Mayor Bill de Blasio said Amazon should adapt to NYC’s progressive culture in bringing a corporate headquarters to the city, and vowed to “hold their feet to the fire” to reap community benefits out of the online giant.

The Amazon announcement late last year promised to bring 25,000 jobs with an average salary of $150,000 a year, situating the hub in Queens. Yet the backroom negotiations and $3 billion in city and state tax subsidies have prompted progressive protests and discontent among local residents.

This morning on WNYC’s Brian Lehrer Show, de Blasio said he’s not worried that Amazon will decide to cancel the move.

“We went through a long negotiation to ensure that New York City would gain 25,000 jobs minimum, could go as high as 40,000. These are good-paying jobs in the technology community, the kinds of jobs that we want for our public school students, our CUNY students starting out their life, and for public housing residents,” de Blasio said. “Remember, one of the biggest public housing residences, in fact the biggest public housing development in America is a walking distance from the Amazon headquarters site. And there is going to be an intensive effort to make jobs available for folks in public housing. This is exactly the kind of thing that we need for the future of this city.””

Meanwhile unions, supported by city council members, are demanding the Amazon jobs be unionized.

  64. NYCmike says:

Nice picture of Ali, Rosa Parks, and Trump. I never saw that before.

  66. Tina says:

    Tweet of the day.

  67. Bitterlaw says:

Breaking News – VA Governor switches to Republican Party. MSNBC immediately blames Trump for 1984 photo and for resignation.

  68. Paul says:

Northam should be kicked out asap.

  69. lisab says:

this is why the dems do not have better than a 50-50 chance at 2020

they are a hot mess of a party

  70. SanDiegoCitizen says:

    71. The Democrats are off to a great start; their leading voices are advocating the same socialist policies that made Venezuela an economic basket case. And now the ghost of Robert Byrd’s Ku Klux Klan past is haunting them in Virginia.

But I have been repeatedly reassured on this board, that no matter how bizarre the Democrat clown show gets; a Democrat will inevitably defeat Trump in 2020.

  71. SanDiegoCitizen says:

  75. jason says:

    You guys should wake up.

After 3 thick slices of fried scrapple, 6 slices of slab bacon, 3 scrambled eggs with cheese and mushrooms, pancakes, toast, and coffee I am ready to deal with any morons or amoral scumbags that may or may not show up here.

  76. jason says:

Our independent MSM that Amoral Scumbag is so proud of.

“CBS was accused Thursday of downplaying Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam’s comments on late-term abortions, in which critics say he indicated a child could be killed after birth.

“CBS Evening News with Jeff Glor” reportedly broke the media’s silence on Northam’s comments Thursday during a brief newscast in which political correspondent Ed O’Keefe ran a short soundbite that seemed to downplay the Virginia Democrat’s remarks by ignoring the full context of his statement, NewsBusters reported.’

Analysis of Wednesday night’s news coverage from NewsBusters found that CNN, MSNBC and the broadcast networks’ nightly newscasts ignored Northam’s shocking comments.

NewsBusters analyzed coverage from Fox News, ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN and MSNBC from 7 p.m. to midnight ET on Wednesday and found that only Fox News included the story in its nightly coverage.”

  77. Wobbles says:

Can we get back to bashing Trump?

    Socialist 2020!

  78. Bitterlaw says:

VA Governor says something so outrageous about abortion that it threatens perception of Democrats. VA Governor’s yearbook appears so he probably has to resign.

    Dems play to win.

  79. jason says:

    I hope Northam doesn’t resign.

But over at Instapundit the “Northam live blog” thinks he will, since Clinton’s bagman McCauliffe has urged him to.

  80. jason says:

    Dems play to win.”

Yep, they are jumping all over themselves to throw Northam under the bus.

  81. jason says:

Coulter says “this lunatic will be primaried”

She suggests Mo Brooks (you know, NYC’s candidate that came in third in the AL primary and gave us Moore as a candidate and Doug Jones as Senator).

Number of R voters that could pick Brooks out of a lineup: 1 (NYC)

  82. jason says:

Seems like Northam’s lt. governor is a flaming moonbat. Might be too far left to win election on his own even in VA.

  83. Bitterlaw says:

Jason – Why do you not want him to resign? Do you not want past actions to matter? Is it a rejection of the tactic used against Kavanaigh?

  84. jason says:

Because I think he will do more damage to Dems if he stays on.

You made the point yourself, Dems play to win that is why they are throwing him under the bus.

They agree with me that if he resigns they can move on.

  85. jason says:

In any case, there is a huge difference between this and Kavanaugh.

Against Kavanaugh there was a fake accusation made by a cerfified moonbat with the obvious objective of derailing his nomination.

Here you actually have some evidence, a picture.

However, honestly, I am not sure Northam should lose his job over an old picture for which we do not know the context. What it really intended to be racist?

I think his infanticide comments are much more disqualifying.

  86. dblaikie says:

Well, the dems have quite a week. First we have a group of dem Governors who in major states are pushing the donkeys towards an untenable position of infanticide and are enraging millions of voters. And one of them has shown to the folks in the fruited plain that racism is alive and well in dem party and they are a bunch of hypocrites. Then there is these loons who are pushing proposals that will literally wreck the economy. OAC, Elizabeth the phony Indian, and Camilla will be the gifts that keep on giving to the GOP.

Since the midterms this forum is filled with folks who say Trump can’t win. My only response is with an opposition not only running to the left and starting to embrace the legality of infanticide, with an economy that is on fire, with the possibility of a trade breakthrough with China that would really rocket the economy in the states that Trump needs most. Well you might want to reconsider your certainty!

  87. Tina says:

So, the Jebot media, will largely ignore the Northam matter, or label him as an R.

  88. Messy says:

Northam should stay on, otherwise, no one is safe from trolling.

  89. Wes says:

Trolling, Messy the Moron? There’s a picture of him either wearing black face or dressed up as a Klansman. We can say it was decades ago, but wasn’t what Kavanaugh supposedly did also decades ago?

In any event, Northam served his purpose in 2017 and brought the VAGOP to the verge of electoral obliteration Dems will complete in nine months. Now like all useful idiots he becomes expendable.

  90. Tina says:

No pass for Northam, messy lsd.

He was age 25, not 18.

    No excuses.

  91. Tina says:

Bill Maher makes “fried chicken” joke, when referring to a Black Republican.

    Another racist.

  92. dblaikie says:

I am not an expert in Va politics and Wes may be right. But at least the GOP in the Commonwealth can argue with facts behind them, elect a dem legislature and you will have infsnticide at worst legal abortion up to term at best.

  93. Bitterlaw says:

I’m curious what “context” would justify dressing as a Klansman or wearing blackface.

  94. Tina says:

In contrast to Northam, Trump, 1986, Ellis Island Award Dinner:

  95. Wes says:

DB, if Trump had the capacity to sell himself to the American people as anything but a solipsistic blowhard who triggers intense negative emotions in everyone but his core supporters I’d be willing to acknowledge a strong chance for reelection.

Instead, Trump repeatedly steps on his own message and infuriates people—especially critical suburban voters—to no end. The results of this have been apparent ever since November 2017 in the municipal elections in VA and NJ. They culminated last year when despite a solid economy even Obama is trying to claim credit voters decisively expressed their loathing for Trump by giving Republicans losses in the House just shy of the catastrophic losses of 1930, 1958, and 1974. For those saying, “But Bill Clinton…” or “But Obama…” none of the three elections I cited preceded a GOP win in the following presidential election.

Voters personally don’t like Trump. He enraged them and galvanizes them against him. He had a chance to correct things after last November but kept doing the same things that all along had steeled people’s reserve to actively oppose him with their votes.

Voters don’t always act rationally; indeed, quite often they act rather emotionally. All of this talk about China trade deals—whose positive impact Trump will immediately negate anyway with some ill-considered remark—and how radical the Dems are won’t matter one bit in 21 months when voters step into the voting booth realizing a President they hate viscerally is on the ballot.

  96. Wes says:

Republicans are two seats away from losing each chamber in the VA Legislature, DB. Had all these unsavory things about Northam come out in October I could see a positive effect for the VAGOP.

Instead Northam is likely gone tomorrow, and Fairfax—his successor—is unlikely to make the same kinds of rhetorical faux pas. That plus the fact that NoVA voters have made a cottage industry out of turning out en masses to vote against every Republican on the ballot while Trump is President makes me confident Dems will have the tri fecta in VA for the first time since the 1990s come January.

  97. dblaikie says:

Wes, I will not debate you over Virginia since I am not an expert. However I don’t agree with you about 2020. A year and a half is a lifetime in politics and with the dems literally racing towards loon land I will not speak so surely. And there is plenty of data that shows a strong economy matters. But because so much can happen I will not fall into the trap of speaking with certainty. But Wes, being from Nevada, I am content with our bet.

  98. Wes says:

I would give some credence to that viewpoint, DB, if we didn’t have actual empirical evidence two elections in a row under Trump Americans care less about the economy than about rejecting anyone associated with Trump.

I see no evidence they’re changing that view.

In the astronomically small chance my analysis is wrong I’ll follow through with my end of the bet in 21 months.

  99. dblaikie says:

Wes, it is so nice to have blunt yet respectful debate. I too, in the small chance I am wrong will have the wine delivered to domicile.

  100. Sheeple, Jr. says:

Just more evidence that the alleged attack on Jussie Smollett was probably a hoax!

  101. Tina says:

    More Sheot Show

    The Associated Press
BREAKING: A Virginia Democrat who has spoken with Gov. Ralph Northam tells The Associated Press that the governor now does not believe he was in a racist picture in his 1984 medical yearbook and has no immediate plans to resign. (link:

  102. Wes says:

Northam is digging in. Biden should calling for Fairfax to become Governor.

    Too bad this isn’t November.

What the hell kind of opposition research team did Ed Gillespie hire to miss this?

Yet another missed opportunity for the VAGOP, which is desperately trying to imitate the HIGOP.

  103. Tina says:

He claims that the photos were mixed up in the year book.

  104. SanDiegoCitizen says:

    99. “Voters don’t always act rationally; indeed, quite often they act rather emotionally. All of this talk about China trade deals—whose positive impact Trump will immediately negate anyway with some ill-considered remark—and how radical the Dems are won’t matter one bit in 21 months when voters step into the voting booth realizing a President they hate viscerally is on the ballot.”

You may be right; but I would not base a firm prediction on the voters acting irrationally, or on some future remark that Trump might make.
The voters have to vote for a candidate; there is not a “not Trump” box on the ballot. Keep in mind the old saying: “Democracy is being allowed to vote for the candidates you dislike the least.” The voters who “hold their noise” and decide on a candidate are likely to determine the election.

  105. jason says:

Sounds like someone has volunteered to cover for Northam on the yearbook thing.

He already admitted he was in the picture. I don’t think you would forget that.

  106. lisab says:

Ralph Northam’s official statement on the racist photo of him in his medical school yearbook is “not about who I am today and the values I have fought for throughout my career in the military, medicine or public service” – but seems to be a lie. His 2017 campaign for governor was caught red-handed at the time issuing two different campaign flyers, identical, except that one version omitted any mention, much less picture, of his African-American running mate.

  107. jason says:

and how radical the Dems are won’t matter one bit in 21 months when voters step into the voting booth realizing a President they hate viscerally is on the ballot.”

I am not too sure about that statement.

There is some empirical evidence it is true because it certainly happened to Hillary in 2016, a lot of people who said Trump was not fit for office still didn’t vote for her presumably because they hated her.

But Trump was disliked in 2016. His negatives were huge. Despite all the negativity, I still don’t see that much evidence that people who voted for him in 2016 will now vote for a Democrat, a socialist moonbat at that.

wes may be right. But those here that say its way too early to assume Trump’s 2016 voters will now desert him droves have a good point too.

  108. SanDiegoCitizen says:

Michael Moore thinks Ocasio-Cortez is the leader of the Democratic Party, and the Constitution should be changed so she can run now!

“Michael Moore declared Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) the leader of the Democratic party in an interview on MSNBC Friday night. Moore says he wished that Ocasio-Cortez was old enough to run for president and that the age requirement in the constitution should be amended so that she could. The documentary filmmaker said that the most important quality in a Democratic presidential candidate is who can take it to Trump.”

  109. Wes says:

That would make sense, SDC, if Trump weren’t a perennially unpopular President who incites far more negative emotions than positive. We saw this the past two years:

Trump was presiding over a booming economy while Dems were so radical they actively tried to kill Republicans. It didn’t matter because Presidents whether popular or unpopular are almost invariably the driving force behind electoral outcomes. If you can show me a situation where a President was consistently unpopular and saw his party lose consistently but won reelection while still being unpopular I’ll give some credence to your views.

Obama and Clinton don’t count because they started recovering in the polls after their midterms.

  110. jason says:

Evidently the Lt Gov refused to participate in an state senate event honoring Robert E. Lee’s bday that even the Dems attended, so it could be he could drag down the Dems in the next election.

  111. Tina says:

Not buying the photo mix up. That is b.s.

This is a 25 year old male, who graduated from medical school.

Presumably, he would be “intelligent.” He would have requested a correction,

    This was premeditated.

  112. jason says:

My position is about half way between wes’ and dlaikie’s.

Usually I would pick a side, but I hesitate to categorically Trump will lose to any socialist because there are just too many events that could be game changing from here to the election.

  113. Paul says:

    I agree with Tina today!!

The polar vortex must have reached the gates of hell.

  114. SanDiegoCitizen says:

The Democratic strategy against Trump is working. They have caused enough controversy to take Trump’s twitter use off the front page of the news. Its been some time since news covered a controversial Trump tweet. Trump is becoming a twitter has been.

  115. SanDiegoCitizen says:

Twitter is ripping Northam to pieces. This fool needs to realize its time to go.

“Sooo… Ralph Northam NOW claims there was a mix up on his yearbook page and he’s neither blackface or klansman… and he just happened to realize this TODAY… 35 YEARS AFTER IT WAS PUBLISHED… Mmhmm… ok… got it.

Even if it were true that it was a mix up and Northam is not in the photo, it would hold thst it was put in because Northam used the nickname ‘coonman’ and everyone was in on the joke. It Northam was offended by it, he would have protested 35 years ago.

Honestly at this point, after admitting it and then saying ‘wait – it’s not me, mix up’, this is damn plausible. Because if it was a total mistake, the first statement of any sane human with a memory would be ‘WTF IS THAT?!

Even if it is not Northam in the photo, as he now claims, didn’t it at least concern him that such a horrible picture was on his yearbook page? Wouldn’t such a mix up be memorable? Gotta go, man.”

Northam is a goner. He’s currently delusional but still a goner.

  117. Bitterlaw says:

I would also refuse to attend a celebration of Robert E. Lee’s birthday.

  118. Bitterlaw says:

Northampton admits he dressed up as Michael Jackson (alleged pedo) for a dance contest with a little shoe polish on his face. Denies it is him in the photo.

  119. Paul says:

Northam’s gone. He’s just making the inevitable ridiculously painful and slow.

“I would also refuse to attend a celebration of Robert E. Lee’s birthday.”

Agree. Also believe monuments to Confederate officers who fought against the U.S. have no place in public squares and public areas.

  121. Paul says:

My African American friend just texted “Have you seen that fool on TV trying to talk himself out of this one.”

  122. SanDiegoCitizen says:

    125. “Northam’s gone. He’s just making the inevitable ridiculously painful and slow.”

If he doesn’t resign, what are the Democrats going to do about it?

  123. Bitterlaw says:

SDC – I wonder why people who celebrate Robert E. Lee’s birthday don’t celebrate Benedict Arnold’s birthday?

  124. CG says:

I can’t get enough of this Northam story. I will have more to say on Monday, time permitting.

This surpassed Gary Hart and Anthony Weiner though for the worst “damage control” press conference ever. Only Budd Dwyer’s ended worse for the official.

  125. Phil says:

Who cares about Northam one way or the other. When he goes they have another moonbat ready to step up and take his place and who will sign any ghoulish baby killing legislation they put before him.

I see Michael Moore wants the Constitution amended so Alexandria Ocasio Cortez can become President.

    Kamala wouldn’t like that.

  126. SanDiegoCitizen says:

National African American History Month is an occasion to rediscover the enduring stories of African Americans and the gifts of freedom, purpose, and opportunity they have bestowed on future generations…

Dang, I hope Corey has time to comment on Monday on Northamcoonmangate, thankfully there is the SB to help pass the time between now and then.’

I take a different view of the Robert E Lee thing, even though nobody here is more pro-Union, pro-Lincoln, anti-Confederacy than I am.

I have no problem if they want to honor Robert E Lee as a historical figure, he certainly had a distinguished role in Virginia that transcends the Civil War.

It should be noted he personally wanted the Union to remain intact. He signed an oath of allegiance after the war and asked that his citizenship be restored. He is on record as opposing monuments to the confederacy because he thought they would delay healing between North and South. As President of Washington and Lee Univ, he promoted reconciliation.

I think he can be honored on his bday in VA without in any way justifying the Confederacy or slavery.

  129. jason says:

Who cares about Northam one way or the other.”

    I care.

As wes pointed out, Rs have a narrow 2 seat majority in the VA legislature.

Anything that keeps the Dems in disarray and causes lasting bad blood among the moonbats in VA is fine with me.

New Presidential Poll on new thread.

    The election is over.

    Trump is doomed.

  131. Bitterlaw says:

Jason makes some good points about Lee. I am certain that all of the Union soldiers wounded or killed by his army and the slaves who remained in bondage because his victories extended the war and the life of the Confederacy might have had a different view. No redemption.
