    good news for the dems

Ben Ray Lujan will run for Senate; Hector Balderas will Seder.

Barring a particularly brutal Dem primary and a major gaffe by their nominee, NM-Sen is a Likely to Solid D Hold.

if we assume that cutler is a top 7 qb … as has been claimed …

of what is he top 7? certainly not football. 🙂

  8. Wes says:

Bitterlaw would prefer it if the constitutional provision requiring Presidents to be natural-born citizens were repealed so Taiwan could export its drunk drivers here to run for President.

He certainly has a fetish for drunk-driving Presidents.

  9. GeauxLSU says:

Any chance Suzanna Martinez gets in the Senate race in NM?

  10. Wes says:

0%. Martinez is the sole caregiver to two disabled siblings.

Allan Weh—who had a stronger-than-expected showing in 2014–is a possibility though I wouldn’t expect Weh to win outside the circumstances I outlined above.

  11. Wes says:

Sununu is seriously considering challenging Shaheen. This would effectively kill any remote chance Dems have of winning back the Senate next year:

    1) Before Trump & DOJ decided to support the TX district court ruling holding ACA uncttl in its entirety, the administration SHOULD have had their own promised healthcare reform proposal ready to roll out. What they’ve got right now is, “We’ve got nothing to replace it if it’s overturned, but please stay tuned. We’ll get back to you.”

    2) My impression is that the DEMs, & all their POTUS candidates, want to raise taxes on the rich, by increasing the capital gains tax. The DEMs consider that the easiest tax increase to sell. This could help the GOP reclaim some of those affluent suburban districts they lost. Just when your 401k was looking SOOOO good, wham-o. See what the DEM proposal would likely do to it.

  15. Phil says:

Can’t argue with any of that, Wes. I might place Alabama in the Solid R pickup, however. Might temper that somewhat due to Jones being the incumbent, but I think a presidential year in Alabama seals his fate.

    Republicans hold the Senate.

Republicans will pick up 8 to 10 House seats.

  16. Wes says:

I don’t use a Solid Pickup category, Phil. Likely is as far as I go for flips. When I put flips into my Likely category I’m saying I fully expect a change from one party to the other.

  17. Phil says:

    Understood, Wes.

  18. dblaikie says:

I have to agree with Wes’s Senate projections. However I am going to keep an interested eye on the Virginia race.

  21. Bitterlaw says:

While I do not support the death penalty for all drunk driving cases, if the drunk driver kills somebody, they should be charged with first degree murder. If that carries a death sentence, so be it. It is the easiest crime to avoid. Driving? Don’t drink.

  22. Wes says:

Driving? Don’t drink—unless you want me to proudly vote for you for President twice.

There, Bitter. I completed your thought for you.

    You’re welcome.

When people say “Make America Great Again,” they mean stop this crap and go back to a time to when a great childhood meant going for candy with friends without being harassed — not going to a baby butcher without parental knowledge.”

Mnw, I could not do the line.

Will have to catch his speech later tonite

  48. Bitterlaw says:

Poor Wes. Still stupid. This all stems from the fact that I said that I would nebmvwe HIRE somebody with a DUI conviction because of a concern over liability in a lawsuit. Under Respondest Duperior and Negligent Entrustment theories, an EMPLOYER can be liable for Damages if an EMPLOYEE acting in the course and scope of his employment causes an accident. That risk is greater with a DUI and would cause insurance premiums to skyrocket. It has nothing to do with voting.

  49. Bitterlaw says:

    Superior not Duperior

  50. Wes says:

In other words, Bitter, you don’t want DUI offenders working for you. You just want them running your country.

The word for that in English begins with an “h” and ends with a “y.”

By the way, are you sure you didn’t have a few before typing that post?

  51. NYCmike says:

    “Superior not Duperior”

-I was just about to say I must have missed that class!

  52. NYCmike says:

“You just want them running your country.”

    ANY DAY of the week!

  53. NYCmike says:

    “I said that I would nebmvwe ”

-Those Philly A-Holes are a bunch of deviants!

  54. Bitterlaw says:

In other words, Wes, you are too stupid to understand what I posted. Got it.

Did you get married yet or is Tink still falling for your false promises?

  55. Bitterlaw says:

I was typing on my phone without my reading glasses. I have not had a drink in 3 years and probably only 4 in the 23 years before that. I’m not interested in it.

  56. Bitterlaw says:

Maybe somebody could explain it to Wes.

  57. Wes says:

Well, you got both of those, Mikey—the latter because of the drunk driver.

    Good job!

  58. Wes says:

    Oh, I get it, Bitter.

You’re a GWB-worshipping hypocrite who abandons all his “principles”—like zero tolerance for DUI—the second GWB violates them.

    It’s quite apparent.

  59. lisab says:

I have not had a drink in 3 years and probably only 4 in the 23 years before that.
    —————————————–

    well there’s your problem!

  60. Bitterlaw says:

I could not be sued if GWB hit someone with a car because I voted for him. I could be sued if I employed him.

Of course, the idea that you have any principles is a joke. You voted for Bush twice. Now you wish you had voted for Gore – one of the few Dems to the left of Hillary and Obama. You treat women worse than Trump. That is almost impossible but you manage it. Your admire Bill Clinton – another abuser of women. Save the lectures.

  61. mnw says:

I grade Trump in Grand Rapids “B+.” I thought he finished very strong. Very. “I’ll never forget the people of Michigan who put me here tonight…”
