CNN released a new poll that shows Joe Biden, and to a lesser extent Bernie Sanders, collapsing among Democratic primary voters while Kamala Harris and Elizabeth Warren are surging.

Kamala Harris 11%
Elizabeth Warren 9%
Pete Buttigieg 6%
Beto O’Rourke 4%
Cory Booker 2%

I’m curious to know what “registered Democratic primary” voters are. That’s what both polls sampled.

I assume that’s RVs who voted in one or more past DEM primaries? Was it one, or more? And how long ago?

Since these are national polls, that sounds like a very blunt polling instrument. Why not poll LVs instead? Because RVs are cheaper to poll, I suspect.

When I worked for a candidate, we sent volunteers to the Board of Elections to look at voter registration cards. We looked at the 3 most recent primaries, & the three most recent GEs, & then gave each voter a score from 0 to 6 based on that research. For example, if you voted in 2 of the primaries & two of the GEs, your score would be “2;2 (4).

Now THAT really tells you something about the likelihood of a voter voting.

  9. mnw says:

And if you voted in all 6 of those elections, you would be “3;3 (6). RED STAR.”

If there were multiple voters in a household, we had a system for aggregating the votes in that household, too, & assigning an aggregate score.

People laughed at us for just skipping 40+% of households completely when we canvassed, for no apparent reason.

Silly little b*st**ds! On election night, we didn’t look quite so silly.

Unlike another candidate, Sanders remains pretty sharp for his age.

“SANDERS: No, we’ve — busing is certainly an option that is necessary in certain cases, but it is not optimal. Does anybody think it’s a good idea to put a kid on a bus, travel an hour to another school and to another neighborhood that he or she doesn’t know? That’s not the optimal. What is the optimal is to have great community schools which are integrated, that’s what I think most people want to see. That’s what I want to see.”

  32. DW says:

Trump’s secretary of education has announced the roll-back of an Obama era (Gainful Employment) regulation that targeted private for profit schools. Critics of this decision to roll this back are howling that now there are no protections for ignorant dupes who enroll at these schools and get little education for huge costs.

Of course they don’t see buyers of a product bearing any responsibility for their decision to purchase, and they ignore the fact that public universities and not for profit universities can also give students little return for their investments.

Trump makes effort to engage murderous regime that is a nuclear threat in much more open and transparent negotiations to try to get said regime to stop testing nuclear weapons and possibly give up their nuclear weapons program entirely.

  80. SanDiegoCitizen says:

    76. Sanders and Warren will slam her as a tool of the California tech industry. Here is something I posted on the last thread:

“It is likely Harris will be as much a tool of California tech as Obama was.

“By the time Harris ran for the Senate, she could count on massive support from Bay Area law firms, real-estate developers, and Hollywood. More important, she appealed, early on, to tech mavens such as Facebook’s Sheryl Sandberg and Sean Parker, Marc Benioff of Salesforce, Yahoo’s Marissa Mayer, venture capitalist John Doerr, Steve Jobs’s widow Laurene Powell, and various executives at tech firms such as Airbnb, Google, and Nest, who have collectively poured money into her campaigns. Their investment was not ill-considered. Harris seems a sure bet for the tech leaders. Her husband, attorney Doug Emhoff, was a managing partner with Venable Partners, whose clients include Microsoft, Apple, Verizon, and trade associations opposing strict Internet regulations.
This year, Harris keynoted the Joint Venture Silicon Valley conference, and she is once again reaping large donations from tech and media giants. As the most significant California candidate in the race, she has a big advantage in harvesting the lion’s share of these riches: California donors collectively contributed over $500 million to the 2016 campaign. The largest benefactors so far to Harris’s 2020 campaign include employees at Alphabet (the parent of Google)—including its former chairman, Eric Schmidt—Cisco, and Apple, as well as many prominent media and entertainment interests. For these companies, with few non-Asian minorities or women in senior positions, and some executives implicated in #MeToo infractions, Harris offers a low-impact way to connect to contemporary progressive concerns.””

“Doc, I don’t know what’s wrong, but I fart all the time. It’s weird because they are silent and odorless, but they keep coming out. In fact, I’ve farted about 6 times just sitting here. What can I do?”
The doctor replied, “Here, take one of these pills every morning and then come see me in a week.”

A week later, the old man came back to the doctor and he was upset. “Doc, those pills didn’t help – they made it worse! I’m still farting, but now they stink something fierce!”
The doctor replied, “Calm down, sir. Now that we’ve cleared your sinuses, we can work on your hearing.”

My guess on the cancellation of the NH event….

Trump became irate at something or someone in the White House and told the staff to get Pence stat. When told Pence was about to take off for NH, Trump said “I don’t give a fudge”. Only he didn’t say fudge.

    MSM story tomorrow:

Trump heard that Pence was going to New Hampshire to campaign for the Republican primary, so he made the plane turn around to foil his plans. He also ordered the Secret Service to shoot a tourist on 5th Avenue.

You weren’t here at the time, SDC, but HHR was plagued with a Canadian fanboy of Obama’s I called CCCP until the night Trump beat Hillary.

When I questioned the efficacy of Obama’s deal with Iran he responded by saying the fact that Iranians wouldn’t be producing more nuclear material would prove how effective Obama was at neutralizing the Iranian threat.

There are tanks on the streets of dc for the parade. This is appalling. The tanks should only be sent to the Middle East, where we will be greeted as liberators.
