Biden Leads Dem Field Nationally By 9%

Last week NBC News partnered with The Wall Street Journal to release poll on the Democratic race. This week, they decided to go with SurvyeMonkey and release an “online” poll.

Joe Biden 25%
Bernie Sanders 16%
Elizabeth Warren 16%
Kamala Harris 14%
Pete Buttigieg 8%
Beto O’Rourke 3%
Cory Booker 3%
Julian Castro 2%
Andrew Yang 2%
Everyone Else 1% or less

This “online” poll was done July 2-16 among Democratic leaning voters.

    An online poll? Yikes!

    Bernie back from the dead.

  3. jason says:

Biden will have to secure the nomination before the convention to be nominated. Since it is doubtful he is the second choice of many of the delegates, they will coalesce around somebody else if he fails to get a majority. This is probably true for Sanders too.

Harris and Warren, on the other hand, can afford to come in a strong second in the number of delegates and hope to attract more of the delegates from the third and fourth and fifth place candidates.

Sorry, Amoral Scumbag, I doubt they will draft Jeb.

I want to congratulate Jason for his steady showing in the Democrat polls. Support of 1% or less while spending no money is impressive.

  8. jason says:

I am sure NYC will rush back from vacation to announce he is, in principle, against big spending bills, but in this case it’s ok for several reasons.

    1) Pelosi asked for $3 trillion, but Trump masterfully negotiated it down to $2 trillion.

    2) Although Trump is proposing it and signing it, the RINOS will pass it, so it’s not like he can be held responsible.

Dems are developing a clown car in the race to lose to Mitch McConnell:

It seems KY’s lone Dem Congressman—John Yarmuth—is the only Bluegrass State Dem not considering a challenge to to Tina’s most hated Senator.

    I wonder why…

Heh, Amoral Scumbag to move the goal posts to 52% in
    3, 2, 1….

  14. DW says:

Its a long way to November 2020, But if Trump is anywhere around 50% approval at that time he likely wins. The Dem strategy is to run up the score in NY and CA, so when you figure that into the calculation, Trump must be well ahead enough in battleground states to carry enough of them to victory.

  15. Phil says:

I thought Trump stepped in it with his squad tweets and was finally done. I could have sworn I read that in the Washington Post. Saw it confirmed on CNN as well.

By the way, how many times over the past three years has the MSM pronounced Trump “done” after this or that Trump action or incident?

  16. jason says:

    Redstate calls it verbal MOAB.

Marco Rubio tell is like it is:

“So this is how it’s been working, the president says something and people cringe because you don’t like it, but then the other side- these left-wing politicians, people on the media, they go crazy with their outrage,” Rubio began his video message. “And they demand that you immediately answer what he said and answer the way they want you to answer.”

The Florida Republican then listed several examples of previous GOP presidents and presidential candidates like Ronald Reagan, George W. Bush, John McCain, Mitt Romney, who “these same people” called “racist.”

“These are the same people, by the way, who one of their members of Congress from their party says that support for Israel is ‘all about the Benjamins’ and they couldn’t even pass a resolution condemning anti-Semitism by itself, but it took them less than 72 hours to pass a resolution condemning the president of the United State’s tweet as racist,” Rubio said.

He continued, “The hypocrisy, the self-righteousness outrages people too. And on top of it, you have these members, who are all Americans… but they’re also political bullies. They go around attacking people, calling other Democrats just like southern segregationists, but when you hit them back, it’s ‘because they’re women of color”

  17. jason says:

The Dem strategy is to run up the score in NY and CA, so when you figure that into the calculation, Trump must be well ahead enough in battleground states to carry enough of them to victory.”

Yep, Hillary ran up a 7 million vote plurality in CA, NY and IL, a lot of “wasted” votes that nonetheless count in national polls.

In fact take out California and Trump won the other 49 states by 1.4 million votes. Before some idiot says Californians are Americans too the point is the 4.3 million extra votes Hillary got in CA didn’t help her any more than if she had won it by one vote.

  18. Wes says:

Florida’s lone statewide elected Dem demands Rick Scott retract his claim that Dems are the anti-Semitic party:

Maybe if Dems would actually condemn what Omar said, Scott wouldn’t be able to make the claim.

  19. John says:

Interesting…In the 2012 election Obama won the popular vote by approx. 5,000,000 votes – if you take out California and NY then Romney wins the popular vote by approx. 38,000

  20. jason says:

Right. In fact Romney only need fairly small swings to have won the election despite his 5 million vote loss.

    FL 35,000 29
    IA 45,000 6
    OH 115,000 18
    VA 75,000 13

That would have given him 272 EVs.

  21. Wes says:

I remember an equally impossible scenario EML was touting back then wherein Romney would lose the popular vote while splitting the Electoral College evenly with Obama as Republicans lost the House.

Then an outgoing House would award Romney the presidency.

Of course even had that far fetched lunacy happened, it’s not as if it wouldn’t have triggered tremendous backlash against the GOP in 2014 and 2016.

  22. Wes says:

    Good news in MS:

It looks as if Republicans will beat Hood for Governor.

This would probably mean Republicans will pick up

  23. Wes says:

…the AG spot as well since Hood was the only MS Dem positioned to hold that seat.

Things will be good if Republicans can re-elect Bevin in KY and pick up the AG and SoS positions there.

Not sure if LA Republicans are poised to topple JBE.

  24. Wes says:

Of course VA Republicans are doomed in both houses of the Legislature.

  25. SanDiegoCitizen says:

Here is one of the reason it is so critical to keep F-35 technology out of the hands of the Russians. And why Iran is now playing with fire. Lets see what Israel does, likely with the support of Saudi Arabia.

“The F-35 has already freaked out Iran and changed everything in the Middle East
No conversation about the world’s massive political and economic changes since 2015 is complete without mentioning the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter, developed by Lockheed Martin.
That became even clearer this week thanks to a somewhat cheeky statement by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in response to Iran’s provocative moves in the Persian Gulf and other threats from Tehran. Standing in front of an F-35 jet parked at an Israeli Air Force base, Netanyahu barely held back a smile as he said that Israel can reach Iran, but Iran cannot reach Israel.
He didn’t add the words “undetected by radar,” but it was surely implied.
To understand why that soundbite with the visual backdrop was more than just bluster, you have trace the F-35?s incredible history in the Middle East over the past four years.
You don’t have to be a military genius to know that a supersonic jet that can fly undetected by radar for hundreds of miles will make a difference anywhere in the world. But the F-35?s already powerful impact in the Middle East was multiplied extensively during the months leading up to the 2015 Iran nuclear deal. That was still more than a year before the jet was put into service anywhere in the world.
But it was late summer 2015 when reports in the Israeli news media surfaced about how Israelis working on F-35 prototypes had managed to double the jet’s flight and stealth capacity. It wasn’t lost on anyone that the extension meant Israeli Air Force pilots could use the F-35 to fly from Israel to Tehran and back without detection — and without having to refuel at U.S. air bases in Saudi Arabia or Iraq.”

  26. Wes says:

RRH May be primarily composed of a cadre of GOP bedwetters and DNC shills, but I must admire their commitment to posting the elections of literally every country on the planet with detailed analysis of the often bizarre and arcane ways of winning office in many countries.

  27. SanDiegoCitizen says:

“Iranian intelligence discovered that the Israeli F-35 stealth fighter jets had carried out this sortie as a test of the possibility of an undetected attack on Iranian outposts and bases, during which they photographed those sensitive bases, evading the Russian S-300 missile system’s radar.
Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force (IRIAF) commander Brigadier General Farzad Ismaili, who had been in office since 2010, has been fired by Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei after he kept secret that Israeli Air Force (IAF) F-35 stealth fighters had violated Iran’s airspace, the Kuwaiti daily Al Jarida reported on Saturday.”

  28. SanDiegoCitizen says:

    26. Agree.

  29. DW says:

“Of course VA Republicans are doomed…”

You could have just stopped right there and covered all the bases in one statement.

  30. Tom says:

If Trump would just downsize the Federal Govt. in DC by 100,000 people we would get VA back.

  31. Tom says:

At the risk of being condemned as a Neo-Con warmonger by Tina, can we sink a few Iranian vessels now? At least one?

  35. SanDiegoCitizen says:

    34. Israel should take out Iran’s nuclear program, as they took out Iraq’s in 1981 and Syria’s in 2007.

There was a Washington Post article about doing it in the May 14, 2019 edition. The rumor is that Obama blocked the Israelis from doing it in the past; Trump should green light it now.

  36. SanDiegoCitizen says:

“During the Obama years, Israel was prevented from attacking Iran’s nuclear facilities. There were even reports that “friends of Obama” (namely Zbigniew Brzezinski, Jimmy Carter’s national security adviser) threatened that Israel’s jets would be shot out of the sky if it tried to bomb Iranian nuclear facilities.”

Obama also allowed the Iranians to obtain effective control of Iraq. One of the worst presidents in U.S. history.

  37. Wes says:

According to his fanboys, Obama was a great President who was only center left.

If that’s their assessment, I’d hate to see their definition of a poor far-left President.

The Democratic civil war becomes more intense:

“PHILADELPHIA — In the clash between Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, liberal activists at the Netroots Nation convention overwhelmingly sided with the young congresswoman, so much so that they want Mrs. Pelosi to leave Congress altogether.

Some far-left activists said they already had made campaign contributions to Shahid Buttar, a lawyer running against Mrs. Pelosi in the 2020 Democratic primary with the slogan “Resistance for Real.”

“She’s going to get left in the dust,” Kristiana Faddoul, a 23-year-old environmental activist from Los Angeles, said of the House speaker. “Is AOC a little radical? Yes, but it’s the urgency that we need.”

Others described Mrs. Pelosi, a longtime representative of a San Francisco district, as out of touch and antagonistic toward a new generation of Democratic leaders. They also agreed with Ms. Ocasio-Cortez’s claim that the speaker is engaging in “explicit singling-out of newly elected women of color” in the Democratic caucus for criticism.”

  43. jason says:

Even that seems high, most surveys put it lower than that.

But as they say the squeaky wheel gets the oil.

Plus things can sound gay and are not.

    Take the Philly A-hole Club.

  45. jason says:

Guns don’t shoot people, dogs do.

“Former LSU lineman Matt Branch nearly died late last year after a freak hunting accident in which he was shot by a dog, causing him to lose his leg.

Branch, who played for the Tigers from 2008-2011, was on an annual hunt with his family and friends in Mississippi on Dec. 28. Branch and several others started loading their duck hunting gear into the back of a truck, where his shotgun was laying.

According to the Clarion Ledger, a black Labrador Retriever suddenly jumped into the back of the bed and right onto the gun. Somehow, the dog’s paw turned off the safety and pulled the trigger, shooting Branch in the left leg.’

  46. jason says:

According to his fanboys, Obama was a great President who was only center left.”

Obama is a hard core leftist and committed socialist. He did a lot of damage but IMO we dodged a bullet.

Had he not listened to Pelosi and Reid and over reached, he could have gotten 80% of his agenda passed while he had 70% approval and the Rs were shocked and awed.

Instead, he went with “I won, screw you” strategy and lost his majorities in congress and the rest is history, after that he governed by decree and spent the next 6 years trampling on the Constitution.

There hasn’t really been a “center-left” Democrat since maybe Scoops Jackson. Joe Lieberman? Ben Nelson? Blanche Lincoln? Zzzzzz.. they all voted for Obamacare. There are just different shades of far left.

  47. Tgca says:

Uhhh…Obama was the greatest POTUS EVAH! I see that in lots of posts on the internet. Jadon hardest hit!

I am serious. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that said about Reagan, Bushes, or any GOP POTUS other than occasionally Lincoln. People actually believe Obama outranks Washington, Lincoln, and the Roosevelt’s. If I disagree, clearly I’m a RACIST!!!

I don’t agree. The Israelis are not our mercenaries.

If we want the Iranian nuke program taken out, we should do it ourselves.

However, if that happens Iran will probably attack Israel and THEN Israel will be able to set the Iranian military back about 50 years.

  49. jason says:

    Breaking news:

50 years later, AP solves the Chappaquiddick mystery.

    The car did it!

“50 years ago today, Sen. Edward M. Kennedy left a party on Chappaquiddick Island near Martha’s Vineyard with Mary Jo Kopechne, 28; some time later, Kennedy’s car went off a bridge into the water. Kennedy was able to escape, but Kopechne drowned.”

    Somebody fixed it for AP:

“Drunk, Kennedy abandoned Ms. Kopechne to die while he worried about his political career, failing to report the accident for hours.”

  50. jason says:

Dastardly car tried to kill Kennedy, but he “escaped”. But it got Mary Jo.

  51. Tina says:

There you go, the car did it!

    Or was it an SUV?

    Or a plastic straw?

  52. Wes says:

Ted Kennedy was human slime. He killed Mary Jo and used various public officials in Massachusetts to obscure the nature of the event and save his political career. Later, he drunkenly tried to rape a waitress atop a passed out Sen. Chris Dodd.

He was an animated piece of feces, and I apologize to feces for the comparison. Nothing deserves to be associated with someone so low.

  53. Wes says:

Remember the Dems who used to come on here and give Kennedy a pass on Chappaquiddick while expressing outrage over the very different fatal traffic accident Laura Welch (née, Bush) was involved in?

  54. jason says:

Yep, Tim was one of them.

He could always find some kind of equivalency to attack Republicans.

Yeah, Teddy killed Mary Jo, but two Republicans I know were ticketed for jay walking.

  55. jason says:

    If I disagree, clearly I’m a RACIST!!!”

We already know it’s impossible for Dems to be racist, and that “women of color” cannot be racist, not sure if gays can be racist.

We will check with the MSM and get back to you. It is possible exceptions can be made for gay Republicans.

  56. jason says:

Supposedly, Ted called his mistress Helga Wagner before he called his wife or reported the accident.

I wonder how the conversation went

“I did not have sex with that woman”?

  57. jason says:

Laura Welch (née, Bush) was involved in?”

Huh, it’s Laura Bush (née Welch) to you.

  58. Wes says:

Why did the dregs of the Kennedy family have to be the one to live longest?

  59. Wes says:

She was Laura Welch at the time. That’s why I worded it that way.

  60. jason says:

Née means born, she was born Welch, not Bush.

I got it, just giving you a hard time as I watch the Open Championship, as soon as NYC gets here I will be able to pick on someone else.

  61. jason says:

Why did the dregs of the Kennedy family have to be the one to live longest?”

Evidently the oldest brother Joe who was killed in WWII was the one being groomed to be President. He had actually finished 25 dangerous missions and was eligible to return home, where he was going to run for Congress. However, he decided to volunteer for this mission where a bomber would be deliberately crashed onto a target and the pilots would parachute out after the explosives were armed and the course set. The explosives went off prematurely.

Maybe we should be thankful he didn’t become President, considering he admired Hitler and stated that Hitler’s sterilization policy “will do away with many of the disgusting specimens of men”.

  62. Ben says:

Booker is at 3%? That was the funniest thing I have seen today! I needed that!

  63. Wes says:

You’re correct about the term née, Jason. It was a rare grammatical faux pas of mine as I was thinking of aka.

As far as Joe Kennedy, Jr, are you sure he admired Hitler? I know Joe, Sr, was a Hitler acolyte, but I’ve never heard of the son’s expressing similar views.

  64. DW says:

Remember that Mary Jo left her purse and hotel key at the party. The story Kennedy gave was that he was giving her a ride back to the ferry, so she could return to her hotel. Strange then why she left her purse and hotel key at the party. Strange that on a very small island with few roads Kennedy would somehow turn RIGHT toward the sea instead of LEFT toward the ferry dock. But if the plan was to go to the beach for a quick encounter, and then return to the party, then everything makes perfect sense.

  65. Wes says:

By the way, Hitler based his sterilization policy on the pseudoscience known as eugenics—a a popular scientific idea embraced by many at the time from authors to politicians to activists. It was a major component of political, philosophical, and literary thought as late as the 1960s when Star Trek created a whole fictional war in the series’ backstory based on the concept.

  66. Wes says:

Kennedy subsequently pulled political strings to have a judge illegally suspend a jail sentence required by state law (which would have been an issue in the 1970 Senate campaign and likely led to Kennedy’s ouster from the Senate) and suppress evidence including testimony from the diver who discovered Mary Jo from the grand jury so as to prevent an indictment.

Kennedy was scum and later tried to rape a waitress in a restaurant. Ironically women would be his biggest base of support in his later reelection campaigns. Chickens voting for Colonel Sanders. Disgusting.

If there is a Hell, I hope Kennedy is trapped forever in a Buick forever suffocating in it.

  67. Wes says:

When Kennedy ran for President in 1980 he had to wear a bullet proof vest when appearing in public because of death threats related to Mary Jo. It’s sad Dems never nominated him for President because although he was invincible in MA, he would have lost in a landslide.

When running for President in 1980, Bob Dole hopes to face Kennedy if nominated as he would then use Kennedy’s extremely liberal voting record in the Senate along with veiled references to Mary Jo to undermine support for “the conscience of the Senate.” (Blech! Gag me!)

  68. jason says:

“As far as Joe Kennedy, Jr, are you sure he admired Hitler?”

“Kennedy expressed approval of Adolf Hitler before his conquest of Europe began. His father sent him to visit Nazi Germany in 1934. He wrote to his father, praising Hitler’s sterilization policy as “a great thing” that “will do away with many of the disgusting specimens of men.”[3] He explained that “Hitler is building a spirit in his men that could be envied in any country.”

Maybe he changed his views later.

  69. Wes says:

    How’s this for irony?

Kennedy managed to survive by 24 points in 1970 just over a year after Chappaquiddick; however, in 1978, Bay Staters ousted his fellow Senator, Ed Brooke, from the Senate largely because Brooke had had an affair with Barbara Walters—yes, that Barbara Walters.

For those conversant with Dems’ distorted views on race, that apparently means a white man can commit DUI manslaughter and spend nearly 40 more years in the Senate. Meanwhile, if a black Senator commits adultery, he is to be ousted from office and replaced with—a white man.

  70. DW says:

Wasn’t it reported too that Mary Jo had died from lack of oxygen, not drowning? She breathed up all the oxygen in the small air pocket of the floor of the car, while Ted was too busy figuring out how to save his career. I recall reading that the diver could have gotten her out alive had he been alerted right after the accident.

  71. jason says:

Biden says “children are listening to Trump”.

Are they watching Biden fondling children too?

  72. jason says:

Wasn’t it reported too that Mary Jo had died from lack of oxygen, not drowning?”

We will never know because they refused (with the support of her parents) to do an autopsy.

But the diver who found her says there was an air pocket.

  73. jason says:

What is sad is that Mary Jo’s parents did not contest anything and were accepting of the situation. They got a $150k settlement, hard to say if they were bought off or coerced or just naive… she was their only child.

However, some bitterness must have remained.

“Back in 1989, Joseph Kopechne told a reporter at the Ladies’ Home Journal that his daughter’s death had not been in vain — because, he said, at least the notorious accident ended Ted Kennedy’s chances of ever becoming president. His wife, Gwen, said later that Kopechne had made the statement out of anger and that he didn’t really mean for it to come out that way.”

Had she lived she would have turned 38 the day I was born.

  77. SanDiegoCitizen says:

Lets not forget Edward Kennedy’s attempt to undercut Reagan’s tough position against the Soviet Union, that resulted in the collapse of Soviet communism.

“Picking his way through the Soviet archives that Boris Yeltsin had just thrown open, in 1991 Tim Sebastian, a reporter for the London Times, came across an arresting memorandum. Composed in 1983 by Victor Chebrikov, the top man at the KGB, the memorandum was addressed to Yuri Andropov, the top man in the entire USSR. The subject: Sen. Edward Kennedy.
“On 9-10 May of this year,” the May 14 memorandum explained, “Sen. Edward Kennedy’s close friend and trusted confidant [John] Tunney was in Moscow.” (Tunney was Kennedy’s law school roommate and a former Democratic senator from California.) “The senator charged Tunney to convey the following message, through confidential contacts, to the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, Y. Andropov.”
Kennedy’s message was simple. He proposed an unabashed quid pro quo. Kennedy would lend Andropov a hand in dealing with President Reagan. In return, the Soviet leader would lend the Democratic Party a hand in challenging Reagan in the 1984 presidential election. “The only real potential threats to Reagan are problems of war and peace and Soviet-American relations,” the memorandum stated. “These issues, according to the senator, will without a doubt become the most important of the election campaign.”
Kennedy made Andropov a couple of specific offers.
First he offered to visit Moscow. “The main purpose of the meeting, according to the senator, would be to arm Soviet officials with explanations regarding problems of nuclear disarmament so they may be better prepared and more convincing during appearances in the USA.” Kennedy would help the Soviets deal with Reagan by telling them how to brush up their propaganda.
Then he offered to make it possible for Andropov to sit down for a few interviews on American television. “A direct appeal … to the American people will, without a doubt, attract a great deal of attention and interest in the country. … If the proposal is recognized as worthy, then Kennedy and his friends will bring about suitable steps to have representatives of the largest television companies in the USA contact Y.V. Andropov for an invitation to Moscow for the interviews. … The senator underlined the importance that this initiative should be seen as coming from the American side.”
Kennedy would make certain the networks gave Andropov air time–and that they rigged the arrangement to look like honest journalism.
Kennedy’s motives? “Like other rational people,” the memorandum explained, “[Kennedy] is very troubled by the current state of Soviet-American relations.” But that high-minded concern represented only one of Kennedy’s motives.
“Tunney remarked that the senator wants to run for president in 1988,” the memorandum continued. “Kennedy does not discount that during the 1984 campaign, the Democratic Party may officially turn to him to lead the fight against the Republicans and elect their candidate president.””

Edward Kennedy was a vile human being.

    89. “Millennials Flocking to Pacific Northwest…”

The problem with the study is it is based on the percentage of increase of millennials in a city’s population. It does not take into account if the rise in percentage of millennials was the result of other age groups leaving a city, and for example headed for the suburbs. Studies have shown millennials actually favor living in suburbs. Below is a study by Joel Kotkin from New Geography in 2017.

“But the most significant shift relates to Millennials. Roughly two-thirds of them, according to a recent Wall Street Journal survey, want a suburban experience for their future families. Census data, as analyzed by the website 538, shows that not only are people aged 25 to 29 about 25% more likely to move to a suburb than city, but that 30 to 44 year olds are leaving cities for suburbs at a much faster clip than they did in the 1990s. The National Association of Realtors sees the same trend, with young buyers shifting to suburban locations.

Some of this reflects the consequence of success in some cities, expressed in soaring prices, but much of the change is fundamentally about growing up. Research by economist Jed Kolko shows that urban residence continues to drop precipitously with age. This also comports with the findings of surveys from the Conference Board, the Urban Land Institute, and the National Association of Homebuilders, which found that 75% of millennials favor settling in a suburban house, but only 10% in the urban core.

This process will accelerate as millennials begin, albeit often later than previous generations, to start families. Some 1.3 million millennial women gave birth for the first time in 2015, raising the total number of U.S. women in this generation who have become mothers to more than 16 million.”

It is very possible more millennials are moving to the Northwest. But they need regional and statewide data to prove it.

Each of the 10 fastest-growing areas, with millennial growth rates exceeding 10 percent, are located in the South or West. Two (Colorado Springs and Denver) are located in Colorado, three (San Antonio, Austin, and Houston) are in Texas, and another three (Orlando, Cape Coral, and North Port-Sarasota) are in Florida. Rounding out the list are Honolulu and Seattle,

In the WE ARE WINNING department..

SAN DIEGO, California — The Trump administration has not installed a single mile of new wall in a previously fenceless part of the U.S.-Mexico border in the 30 months since President Trump assumed office, despite his campaign promise to construct a “big beautiful wall.”

Of course, I am on record here saying the wall would never be built, but Trump could do a lot to get border control by investing in a virtual wall using surveillance, drones, sensors, etc. and selling it as border security, not a physical wall.

But the WE ARE WINNING crowd insisted the wall would happen, let’s go for all or nothing.

    So they got nothing.
