Watch as the media’s partisan game unfolds today:

El Paso, they say, is Trump’s fault

Dayton, however, just happened to be committed by a Leftist who supported Dem presidential candidates-

But don’t jump to conclusions. Questions remain. We may never know the real motive, etc

If they hold Trump’s rhetoric responsible for El Paso, then they must hold Bernie and AOC and the rest responsible for the mass murder in Dayton

There is either a standard to apply here, or not.

It can’t be “whatever hurts Trump” is the standard

The day a twitter mob can change a headline on the New York Times this paper is truly finished and replaced by a new kind of 1984 Ministry of Truth. The news is now what people say it is.

  5. dblaikie says:

Agree with Buck Sexton. The hypocrisy is terrible! I have read that the shooter in Dayton supported Warren. If true someone somewhere needs to ask her in light of her rhetoric about Trump, will she take responsibility for the Ohio shooting?

DW. That HR last night by Alonso was big in that it not only won the game, but also because I think it will wake up his bat and they are going to need him to make the playoffs…Also looks like Lugo is the new closer. About time!!

With regards to the Texas poll thats is complete absurdity. Neither Biden, but especially not Sanders is going to beat Trump in Texas. Not close. Sanders loses by 10% or more. No Socialist is winning Texas.

I think this latest attack on trump is going ot backfire on liberals. I know a lot of people here in Texas who are fed up with the rhetoric and demand of the left, and they are going to the polls.

With regards to TX-23, I think with a good candidate we stand a chance. There are a lot of people here who are very very very pro-Trump who don’t normally vote and who voted in the mayors race this time. They are fed up and may be enough to push a good candidate over the line. Just don’t know who that is.

In this poll (also the thread topic), Biden’s numbers have dropped from their previous poll of nh.

Callaway seems to be a better manager the last month or so……….amazing what happens when starters pitch 6-7 innings, hitters help team score 5, 6, 7 runs a game, and relievers only have to pitch an inning or 2.

  9. VictrC says:

Its been the bullpen all season that has let them down. Just look at SF series two weeks ago. Blew leads in the 9th in three games and lost in extra innings in each 11, 11 and 17 innings respectively when they had the lead in extra innings in two of them. With those three wins they would be leading the wild card and only 4 out from Atlanta for division lead

  40. VictrC says:

What we conservatives care about is our Children and their future, which is why we protect the 2nd amendment so closely.

For, if a government can so easily take away rights that are not only clearly enshrined in the Constitution, but date back into the history even to England where the right to bear arms was enshrined in the the first real bill of rights after the Glorious Revolution, then they can take away any right they want.

It is about boundaries, it is about incremental Loss of Liberty. How can we face our children’s children when they lose their last vestige of Liberty because we were too weak to stand up for rights that are so clear.

Our forefathers wrote about the right to keep and bear arms, and clearly stated it because it is the foundational principle and right against government oppression. All societies that eventually turned to totalitarianism started with gun control.

As well, how can we teach our children to respect freedom, to fight for Liberty, when we find “rights” like the “right to abortion” in the Constitution despite not one word about it being mentioned, yet deny someone a clearly written right such as the right to bear and keep arms.

The fight for the 2nd Amendment is not about guns, its about Freedom, its about Liberty and it’s about protecting our children and their children from Tyranny and from oppression by those who look to control and fight for power over the masses.

  41. NYCmike says:

“People love their guns more than they love they kids.”

-How about we try this with Planned Parenthood?

P.O., call your Dem Senators and Congresscritters, and make sure all $$$ are stripped from the federal budget that are earmarked for PP.

  42. Proud Obamacon says:

    VC, Uhh wha? bruh?

“What we conservatives care about is our Children and their future”

What future? How many children have had their lives taken away because some lunatic was able to easily get his hands on an assault weapon?

Perhaps you can clarify. I’ll wait.

  43. SanDiegoCitizen says:

This guy has turned into a screaming leftist loon ever since he dropped to one percent in the primary polls. He gets nuttier by the day.

Well, at least we know now he doesn’t plan on dropping out of the presidential race to run for the Texas senate seat since that position won’t fly anywhere – certainly not Texas.

  45. lisab says:

    no po,

they just don’t trust people like you, and with good reason

  46. VictrC says:

Yes,there have been children who have lost their lives because of lunatics, but there have been lunatics that have killed people using weapons other than guns.

Once we begin to give up rights that are so foundational to our country, to our freedom, once we begin to give up rights that are so clearly enumerated then there is nothing that is that can not be taken away.

This call to take away arms, to limit rights will do absolutely nothing to diminish the random acts of voilence which are causing this reactionary outcry. More children die from drowning in pools yet I see no rush to outlaw pools. We won’t even bring up the number of children’s lives that are denied by abortion on a daily basis, solely for convenience.

The rush to crush the second amendment is not about children, it is about power. It is about being able to submit a populace to a government and those who want to control by force of government.

  47. Proud Obamacon says:

“they just don’t trust people like you”

People like me? I’m just a random dude in Colorado. What do I have to do with this? Confusing!

  48. Proud Obamacon says:

VC brought all the GOP talking points today.. nice!

Of course, pools are made for enjoyment and fun. That a kid can drown is tragic of course. Guns, on the other hand, are made for one reason and that is to kill others. So yeah, let’s go ahead and let any mental idiot have a gun so he can massacre at will. Yeah, great idea!

  49. SanDiegoCitizen says:

About 80% of all homicides in the U.S. are gang related, and take place primarily in inner city neighborhoods. Narcotics are a significant factor. Sadly it is overwhelmingly African-American youths killing each other.

He has no business running for president. His campaign is failing and he is searching for issues.

Incredible! Dayton mayor, following what the El Paso mayor has already voiced, is discouraging a visit from the president. It’s amazing how effective the dems and their personal spokespeople (the MSM) are at delivering talking points and “news” that is beneficial only in muddying the storyline of tragic events. Also, how they are able to focus only on certain details that specifically deride the person they have been actively fighting to get out of office, 24/7: since 2017.

For instance, the media is lightly covering the affiliations and ideology of the Ohio killer (not fitting their anti trump doctrine), while covering the unfavorable press comments of the mayor dissing Trump. And, in El Paso they are highlighting the racial bias of the shooter, connecting it to their version of trump being a racist, while only glancing over the shooter’s overall grievances regarding his distaste for technology, corporations, being an environmentalist, and feelings of being left behind in getting a job he would like to have.

  77. janz says:

“Laws that forbid the carrying of arms. . . disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes. . . The key for someone new to owning a gun is proper training. You need to take gun classes with a qualified instructor, and spend time at a range. Its a major responsibility. People often tell me they are going to buy a gun. I try my best to discourage them — unless they are willing to get proper training.

Most news reports seem to say that the El Paso killer is cooperating with authorities. One detail just revealed is what triggered his heinous act of violence, as motivation always seems to be at the top of most law enforcement’s lists. Supposedly, the trigger was the dem debate where support for healthcare for illegals was discussed.

I wonder if any concern is ever registered, in the minds of our incomprehensible do-nothing Congress, as to the stresses created in the general public along the Mexican border. These are the areas where the impact of massive border crossings is felt the most. And, in embattled minds, already fatigued by mental illness, i can see more people “breaking” under the constant barrage of democrat lunacy in smears, hostile acts, and overall insane policy ideas.

White nationalism exists and it has always existed, but in the post civil rights era it’s rare. kKK? Handful of nutcases. They existed under Obama they exist under Trump, but the media is acting like this is something new under Trump.

The MSM is playing it up, and if course we all know why. Want an example? I’ll give you one. Did everyone see the clip of the guy on the MSNBC panel yesterday claiming that Trump’s ordering flags flying half mast until 8-8 was some sort of a white nationalist signal. Yeah, he claimed that 8 signifies the 8th letter of the Alphabet which is the letter H. Double H signifies Heil Hitler.

You couldn’t make up this nonsense if you tried.

  116. DW says:

A lot of Mets fans have gotten way out ahead of their skis. A few I read are so far out ahead that they are at the bottom of the hill posing for victory pictures while their skis are still coming out of the starting gate.

Reason is simple. Mets stunk the first half of the season and now have the best record in MLB since the All-Star break. They were dead, and now just 1.5 games out of a wild-card spot.

But here is the problem. Since the All-star break, they have played the Marlins twice, Pirates twice, the Twins, the White Sox, and the Padres. Not exactly the best teams in baseball. The only decent team they have played in that stretch is the Giants, where the Mets lost 3 out of 4 games.

The Mets still don’t have any real means of closing out games with saves. Several of the games they have won recently have required late heroics or outstanding starting pitching…and this to edge very poor teams.

After today, they have a 3-game set with the Gnats, then another 3 at the Braves.

After those two series, it is very likely the skis will catch up with the fans.

I hope not, I hope the Mets are for real, but not much has really changed other than Cano finally got hot, but then strained his hamstring to go on the DL.

  117. NYCmike says:

Just saw a clip of the Oakland A’s streak, made famous in Moneyball. Reminds me a little of that.

The starting pitching is going deeper into games, the hitting has been more consistent throughout the whole lineup (even Alonso keeps getting on base, despite his slump since the All-Star break), and the bullpen has been much better.

YES, the competition has been below average, but winning and confidence has a way of picking up teams. You are correct, the next games against Washington and Atlanta may show how much it is worth.

  118. NYCmike says:

“White nationalism” is a hoax, as it is the media’s attempt to mainstream radical fringe elements which they characterize as “on the right”, like the KKK.

I personally do not think the KKK is on the right, as they have much more in common with elements from the left: identity group politics.

It was wrong to characterize any of the past 6 Republican Presidents as Nazis, and that includes Trump. (I went back as far as Eisenhower, as that was when television really started to change the media landscape).

  119. Phil says:

I’m not much of a baseball fan. Football fan through and through, and cannot wait until September. However, I have to admit that I’m enjoying the hell out of watching the Astros. As complete of a baseball club as I have ever seen and now that they are healthy they have no weaknesses.

  120. DW says:

125 – the other part of the picture is that at this stage of the season, the poor teams are just out there trying stuff to test for next year, while the good teams are made trade deadline moves and will be better than they were.

The Mets did perhaps upgrade by swapping out Vargas and retaining Wheeler, but not sure it will be enough.

But wow, if I had known at the start of the season that the Mets would have one player contending for the batting average crown and another for the HR king, and that deGrom, Syndergaard, Wheeler and Matz would all be healthy for the season, I would have put them up 5 games in the east at this point.

But not for all those blown saves throughout the year, they would be right there battling the Braves, probably just a few games out instead of 8.5 games out.

  121. Phil says:

Frankly, after the 88 = HH = Heil Hitler I’m just not going to pay any more attention to the MSM. I try not to anyway….or am I going to pay any attention to jokes like Beto and his white privilege apology tour and his constant screams of racism at every turn.

    Insanity….pure and simple.

  122. janz says:

#123. Phil, the media is the megaphone for reporting what is happening here and around the world. Whether what they say is real or simply unsubstantiated propaganda, a sizable number of people will accept it as “truth.” So, stupid stuff, like the symbolism behind lowering flags, will seep into the public consciousness, creating a bias confirmation stronghold, especially in those already hating trump.

I’m personally finding all the media sludge of falsehoods & exaggerations overwhelming. How trump can weather such a hostile storm almost seems inhumanly possible, too!

Poor Phil thinks someone else is unhinged for being upset that Trump’s destroying the party when he’s the one who has cast aside every conservative principle he held during the Obama years so he can support, nearly without question, a charlatan conman like Trump. But I guess the allure of a ridiculous wall will do that to someone who is upset the country no longer looks as it did in the hay day of his life.

The fact you’d try and mitigate a grotesque statement like the one Tucker Carlson made shows how much Trumpism has affected you. When Trump is gone, I’m quite certain you and many others here will attempt to minimize and excuse your support of Trump, but I’ll be here to remind each of you that you traded in your supposed long held beliefs to defend a scumbag who happened to put a R after his name.

Robbie, Id like to engage in serious discussion. No vitriol, but true dialogue.

Do you think that anyone on this site is a White Nationalist? Do you think that anyone on this site supports White nationalism? Do you honestly think Trump is a White Nationalist?

I can only speak for myself, but I can assure you that I condemn White Nationalism in all its heinous nature, just as I condemn the KKK, other organizations that perpetrate hate. I think we should condemn White Nationalism, but I do not believe it is the prevalent problem in the country that the left is making it out to be. They are using it as a wedge in order to gain power. Even you have to see that. White Nationalism is a fringe group, and they are getting publicity because the only way for the left to defeat Trump is to portray people as White Nationalist when they support common sense things like a secure border, or are concerned with the fiscal and societal (stress on our schools and social safety net) impact of illegal immigration.

Now, we do have crazies that are emboldened by the exposure the left has given to these fringe lunatics, and as Trump did yesterday, he should have done earlier….condemning it.

Yet, voting for Trump is not White Nationalism. In fact, I see it more as anti-socialism because that is the alternative. We don’t have the choice of Nikki Haley, or VP Pence (who is a wonderful person), or another potentially good candidate who is conservative, yet not bombastic. He is the choice we have, and this country would be far worse with Clinton as President, or Warren or Biden or HArris or Beto, etc. It is going to take decades, if ever, that we recover from the damage the Obama administration did to the country. Subjecting it to another four or eight years of now very socilast leaning leaders would tip us over the edge.

So whats the alternative. The REAL WORLD alternative.

    – I think there may be one long time poster who is definitely white nationalist/supremacist friendly, but no in this discussion so far is that person.

As for Trump, I do NOT think Trump is a white nationalist. I think he’s a con artist and an opportunist who believe there are votes to be gained by pushing a political strategy calculated to inflame racial divisions. Regrettably, that’s a terrible moment for the presidency.

What I do find pathetic from so many longtime commenters here is the way they have adopted the views of Trump when they would not have accepted them from Obama or any other president. The disgusting comments by Tucker Carlson are a perfect example.

Rather than say the comments awful, HHR races to explain how it’s not a big deal or believing that white supremacy is problem means you’ve fallen for media propaganda and NYCmoron has written. Sadly, the same thing happened two years ago when white nationalist protested in Charlottesville and this site said Antifa was the real problem and the protesters had a point that Confederate statues need to be preserved.

I can’t speak to the Tucker comments (he’s actually a good guy and Ive known him for years) because I didn’t listen to them. I have to believe that there has to be some context to them but I am not going to defend or attack something I haven’t heard.

I’m glad to hear that you don’t think that there are white nationalists here. Not sure which one you are talking about (being one) but that is irrelevant. I know that the people here are good and obviously care about this country or they wouldn’t be here.

I think you are conflating rationale with support with regards to Trump. I think, almost to a person, everyone who is here today supported another candidate in 2016. I know a lot of us supported Rubio, or other candidates, some wanted Romney to join the race, etc. To a person I think no one really wanted Trump…but we live in a. Real world. The real world is that Trump is BETTER than Hillary would have been. Sorry, for all his negatives, Trump is 1000X better person than Hillary. She’s truly slime. And that was the choice. America couldn’t afford four years of her….which would havce been 8, following the disastrous reign of Obama, who is a stone cold bigot./racist (whatever word you want to use.) To be frank Obama said the same things that Trump does, he was just overt about them rather than direct. One doesn’t justify the other though.

This election again we have a choice. There is no viable alternative to Trump. Plain and simple. This is our future, and I have a 3 yo and a 5 yo to think about. If one of the Democratic nominees becomes President it will absolutely change their life in a negative way. My alternative is to vote for Trump, who despite his horrible rhetoric, has FOR THE MOST PART acted as a Conservative during his presidency. He’s good on taxes, he’s good with the military (as a ver I like that), he’s good with our allies (I experience this directly), he’s absolutely correct that we need a solution to the illegal immigration problem.

So, rather than attack his supporters I choose to support his re-election (I did not vote for him in 2016, nor did my wife but we will this time) and try to be as active and involved as I can be to ensure we have a good candidate in 2024 becuase the alternative is frightening.

  151. Robbie says:

In addition to my 155, I would also add this.

I think there are plenty of people in this forum who simply don’t like immigration, legal or illegal. That doesn’t make them white nationalists, by the way, but it does explain some, not all, of the openness to Trump’s nativist message.

We’ve had a leftist loon shoot up a Republican congressional softball practice. None of this is new and none of it had anything to do with Donald Trump. Guess what? During a Kamala Harris Administration there will be more mass shootings by nutjobs on both sides and it won’t have a damned thing to do with Trump or whatever leftwing Democrat who happens to be in office.

Get a grip, Robbie. At least you gave us a day off yesterday from your holier than thou moral superiority. It’s not becoming or in any way appealing. Do you even have any friends? Get some help. You are one sick puppy eaten up by an obsessive hate directed at a politician.

If some of you care about the direction of the country as much as you claim to do, then I simply can’t understand how you can continue to support Trump rather than demand someone of stature and credibility challenge him and defeat him in the primary.

Trump is very likely going to lose in 2020. Presidents with 44% job approval ratings don’t win second terms. More importantly Republican presidents who spend their first term repulsing suburban voters as Trump has done don’t just lose, they wreck the entire party.

Right now, I’m not sure it would matter if Democrats nominate Warren. She’d probably win because Trump isn’t going to win PA, MI, and WI, especially since he’s spent the last few years energizing black voters in a way Clinton didn’t in 2016. And bigger picture, it’s clear “Trump fatigue” is becoming an issue with voters in general. It’s why Trump can’t get near 50% with a good economy.

Maybe worst of all, Trump’s moronic trade war is threatening to take the economy into recession. Trump’s own Labor Department released a graph showing that Trump’s idiotic imposition of tariffs starting in January 2018 has brought American manufacturing into recession and the CPI shows American consumers are paying more for products on which Trump has proposed tariffs.

So if you care as deeply about the direction of the country as you claim, then you need to know that the tax cuts, deregulation, and many other things will be undone by a Democrat president. Another Republican (Pence, Haley, Romney, etc.) would win. Trump likely can’t.

Bill Maher certainly doesn’t believe a far leftist like Warren can win.

“Bill Maher warned Democrats this week that they are “blowing” their chance to beat President Trump in 2020 by “coming across as unserious people who are going to take away all your money so migrants from Honduras can go to college for free and get a major in ‘America sucks.'”

“All the Democrats have to do to win is to come off less crazy than Trump. And, of course, they’re blowing it,” Maher said Friday on his HBO show, “Real Time with Bill Maher.”

    * * *
“Now, do I want Biden to be president? Not really. But Biden is the only Democrat who beats Trump in Ohio,” he said. “He’s like non-dairy creamer. Nobody loves it, but in a jam it gets the job done. I can’t figure people out, but they just like Joe. Maybe it’s the familiarity. He’s like a McDonald’s when you’re in Europe.”

  172. BayernFan says:

It is unlikely that any of the announced dems can beat Trump. The one with the best shot is probably tulsi Gabbard.

  173. SanDiegoCitizen says:

At this point, to defeat Trump the Democrats have to do two things:

    1.) Nominate Joe Biden as their candidate;
2.) Pray that his mental acuity is sufficient enough so that he does not come off as being too old and cognitively disabled to be president.

  174. SanDiegoCitizen says:

At this point, believe Trump will beat any far leftist candidate; and would rate Biden as a slight favorite in a Trump-Biden race — but that all depends on how well Biden does as the Democratic nominee, and how he performs mentally. Trump will make “sleepy Joe’s” mental acuity an issue.

  175. DW says:

  176. dblaikie says:

Once again, you can depend upon it just like the sun will come up in the morning, the dems. have engaged in major over reach concerning the shootings. They just can’t help themselves.

  177. dblaikie says:

I have said it before and I will say it again. I don’t care about the polls, Biden is toast. My reasoning is simple, he simply doesn’t have the mental capacity or energy to run a 14 month campaign! You think his gaffes and moments of brain freeze is bad now wait and see what it is next winter in the cold snows of Iowa and New Hampshire.

  178. SanDiegoCitizen says:

The Democrats need to have a special debate on this issue:

“Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., pledged that as president he would disclose government information about aliens and unidentified flying objects.

Sanders, one of the leading 2020 Democrats, told podcast host Joe Rogan on Tuesday that his wife would “demand” he tell people about the mysterious phenomena.”

For black Democrats, Harris is the last 2020 Democrat pick amid the party’s leading presidential primary candidates, following former Vice President Joe Biden with 47 percent, Sen. MSNBC contributor Frank Figliuzzi claimed that, by ordering flags be lowered to half-mast in the wake of last weekend’s mass shootings, Trump sounded a neo-Nazi dog whistle, NewsBusters reports:

“The President said that we will fly our flags at half-mast until August 8th. That’s 8/8. Now, I’m not going to imply that he did this deliberately but I am using it as an example of the ignorance of the adversary that’s being demonstrated by the White House.

“The numbers “88” are very significant in neo-Nazi and white supremacy movement. Why? Because the letter ‘H’ is the eighth letter of the alphabet and, to them, the numbers “88” together stand for “Heil Hitler.”

NYC – I doubt its even 300,000. I honestly feel that the real number of people who honestly believe in “white nationalism” is miniscule. What I think is that anyone with a differing view from that of the hard left is labelled that in order to “shame” them or “silence the opposition.” It’s a very old Soviet tactic used at the beginning of the revolution. Station one person in each of the four corners of a room and when someone says something you don’t like, one of the four yells out a negative stereotype that is belittling, then the other four, in succession, yell the same thing and create a sense that all are saying it. The sheep join in.

which is why the founding fathers gave us a system where states were powerful separate entities distinct from each other, and even within states you had different governmental agencies that were independent of each other — for example, st paul (traditionally irish) vs minneapolis (traditionally germanic/swedish)

  216. janz says:

I disagree the “middle is gone.” What the middle, or moderates, are doing and saying is “nothing.” They are keeping quiet. Their discontent, with either the right or left, is being processed and, IMO, still very fluid. Given the many months yet to go until the election, people will be watching and ingesting all the polarization, DJT tweets, outlandish behavior of the dem candidates and the very dishonest press, and not making up their minds until the very end.

In the meantime, the polling and predictions will be all over the place – very much like the present day stock market is acting.

  217. VictrC says:

    Phil et al

Couldn’t agree with you more. The middle is gone.

It used to be that 35% of the people would vote for one party no matter what or who the candidate was, 35% for the other party and politicians fought for the 30% in the middle that swayed elections.

No more. Today its 45% and 45% and the fight is now for the slim 10% that can vote one way or the other…many of whom who now choose a third party candidate.

  218. Tina says:

Looks like Fidel Castro doxxed six of his own donors, who also donated to trump.

  219. Big Joe says:

Well “the middle” might still be here, but the undecided voter is pretty much gone. I would say 98% of voters already know why they are voting for and will not change their minds.

Most moderates and centrists tend to lean one way and not change.

    Big Joe

  220. Phil says:

The Castro brothers are scum. Going to be fun watching them squirm after leftists vandalize or worse the business of one or more of one of the people doxxed. On second thought, probably won’t phase them at all since the MSM won’t report What happens. By now we all know the drill when it comes to the media.

On the other hand, in the case of Bill Miller who owns a number of BBQ establishments expect his business to actually pick up. People don’t like what went down here. His food is good and Castro crossed the line with what we know he was attempting to do – namely political intimidation.

    – If Trump loses TX (he won’t), it won’t be about Hispanics. It will be about suburban voters bailing on the party because of Trump’s behavior.

  269. Victrc says:

I don’t believe anyone who voted for Trump in 16 will not vote for him this time. The only chance Dems have in this race is that people who abstained from voting who normally vote R in turn and vote for the Democratic nominee. You still have bridges to cross with your nominating process as you only have one candidate who stands a 50/50 chance of winning, and that’s Biden…currently.

The upshot is that comments like the ones you’ve made here, and those people see online and in the news do not help the D case, it only hurts it. Trump, for all his bombastic behavior still has finally helped the economy, put money in peoples pockets and given them hope after 8 years of no hope, no jobs, no growth. Attacking people will only leave them on the fence, and when they get in that booth, they will vote with their pocketbook. No one will know it was them that voted for Trump. Also, stuff like that circulating from the Democratic Socialist convention also pushes people away from the D party.

I have already accepted that the carnage will continue. However, I am curious if there is anything that the HHR posters would propose or accept to try to stop mass shootings. I will ask the same question about the shootings of individuals in places like Chicago, Detroit, DC and Philadelphia.

  274. Bitterlaw says:

If the answer is “nothing can done,” that is a legitimate answer.

  275. Proud Obamacon says:

Of course the Trumpers don’t want anything to be done. Doing any little thing means that they love Venezuela and North Korea.. like DUHHHH

What a bunch of tools here.

  276. NYCmike says:

Nothing legislatively can be done, unless you would accept a return to the mental health attitudes of pre-One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest days. Right now, there are laws on the books which would have prevented shootings like the one at the high school down in Florida, but the authorities didn’t enforce the law.

On an individual note, individuals must be willing to get to know their neighbors, and when there is something odd going on, interact with that person to see if they need help.

How many people have been interviewed that said (paraphrasing) “Not surprised at all by the actions of this perpetrator!”?

  280. Victrc says:

PO. – not lies, generalizations. Let me clarify. Very slow job growth, and the jobs that were created were not high paying ones. Most Americans were extremely concerned about being able to get a job during his Presidency. FACT. Lowest growth of any recovery in American history. That is not a debatable point, its a fact. Not once during his Presidency was there 2% growth in any year. That never happened before, and when he left he stated that 3% growth would never happen again. He was wrong, it was his policies of regulation and government control which restricted the economy. That combined with his high tax rates, and the burden of Obamacare which hit employers like myself so hard, made growth nearly impossible.

Bitter – Let’s break this down (responding to what can be done). Red Flag laws. A slippery slope which will eventually come back to bite us in the backside, but a panacea to a public wanting to see something.

Banning “military style weapons” again once again the same slippery slope. Advocates are going to say that they are only talking about the AR-15 and those weapons that look like an AK-47. Ok, so those are banned. I carried an M9 in the military, when are those civilian equivalents then included in the military style weapons (they have changed to the Sig M17 since I left).

High capacity magazines. Ok, what’s the number. What constitutes high capacity? 20 rounds? 30 rounds? 10 rounds? Who here thinks that the moment we limit the capacity of a magazine that it won’t shrink quickly. Restrictions will grow. That is a guarantee because when you give the left a mm they take 10 miles. So we will be left with that? 6 rounds that are in a revolver? Will those be banned if the magazine limit goes down to 5?

The real problem remains that there are crazy people in the world and they are going to find ways to do bad, no matter what. STronger background checks? I am not against that altogether, I would like to see what that entails, what it means, and what the criteria is for excluding someone based on the background check.

At th end of the day, last weekend 100,000,000+ people america legally owned a weapon. 99,999,998 did not commit an atrocity, so we are going to put restrictions on those 99,999,998 becuase of the 2.

This is the crux of Liberalism. The mass has to suffer and be penalized because of the one. We see it everywhere, kids can’t say the pledge because one person doesn’t like America in the class. We can’t do x because one person objects.

It’s a continuation of the tyranny of the minority of people that we saw begin with Obama.

  281. NYCmike says:

“It’s a continuation of the tyranny of the minority of people that we saw begin with Obama.”

-I’ll take exception with this one point: I don’t think it began with Obama, but he may have been the most important person to realize it would help him politically.

  282. SanDiegoCitizen says:

    284. Bitter, don’t assume gun control is the answer. London is having the worst crime in recent history, despite strict gun control laws:

“All the knife deaths across London so far this year. As of July 17, Scotland Yard have launched 78 murder investigations in London.

Shocking figures this week revealed knife crime in England and Wales soared to a record high, with 43,000 offences last year.

This year got off to a bloody start when mum-of-one Charlotte Huggins, 33, was knifed to death at her home in Camberwell, South East London on New Year’s Day.”

Both Brazil and Mexico have strict gun control laws, and some of the highest levels of gun-related murders in the world. Brazil is actually looking at repealing many of its gun control laws so people are able to defend themselves.

By contrast, I spend a lot of time in the western U.S., where you see regularly guns, including semi-automatic weapons, out in the open The gun homicide rates are among the lowest in the nation. Guns do not cause “gun violence”– bad people cause violence and murder, and use guns or knives or whatever weapon is available.

The overwhelming majority of gun-related murders in the U.S. are in urban areas; narcotics and gangs are the underlying cause; it is the breakdown of any sort of social order and the family structure. Rudy Giuliani effectually reduced crime in New York City by tough anti-crime measures, in particular stop and frisk — which disarmed young gang members, so they were afraid to carry guns in public. The murder rate fell dramatically. We now have a more permissive society, which looks the other way as gun-related and other crimes skyrocket.

  283. Proud Obamacon says:

VC, very dishonest post again about the economy under Obama. The economy was turned around quickly from one of the biggest disasters in our history, the Great Recession, which resulted from policies you support. Once turned around, we had the start of the longest bull market ever with the most consecutive months of job growth EVER. I’m not surprised you chose not to highlight these points, they don’t fit your lie-driven narrative.

And as far as “It’s a continuation of the tyranny of the minority ”

Well bruh, every poll in quite some time shows significant control for some form of gun control legislation. But feel free to ignore that as well and continue on with your bizarro fantasy world.

  284. NYCmike says:

“It may not be wise to parse exactly what kind of crazy a mass shooter is, but in the wake of the absolute torrent of condemnations of “white supremacy” after the horrific Walmart shooting in El Paso, Texas, it seems right to set the record straight. You see, the man who murdered 22 people and injured 26 others — and who is still living — isn’t exactly a white supremacist, at least not according to his manifesto. Instead, his attack was motivated by hatred of immigrants, hatred of corporations, and radical environmentalism. (So long as his manifesto is more than just a “troll.”)”

-Keep seeing reports like this which show the El Paso shooter as a person who was anti-immigrant, as well as anti-corporation and pro-radical-enviromentalism…… again is this Trump’s fault?

  287. SanDiegoCitizen says:

Where you have gangs, you have guns. Often gangs manufacture their own guns. Mexico has strict gun control laws:

“Mexican police have found 19 dead bodies, some hung from an overpass and others butchered and dumped on the street, in what authorities suspect is a gang turf war, according to a report.
In the state of Michoacán, nine bodies were found in the city of Uruapán hanging from an overpass. Seven other bodies were chopped up and dumped on the road, with three additional bodies hacked up and left further down the road.

    * * *
“Certain criminal gangs are fighting over territory, to control activities related to drug production distribution and consumption. Unfortunately, this conflict results in these kinds of acts that justifiably alarm the public,” said Michoacán Attorney General Adrián López Solís.. . All the victims had been shot to death.”

Perhaps you can do the math now but I won’t hold my breath.

SDC – I did not say stronger gun control laws would work. I don’t expect anything to work.

  292. VictrC says:

PO you are disingenuous at best, completely wrong generally.

The economy did not turn around quickly. Job creation was slow, and continued at a slow pace throughout his Presidency. Growth was absolutely abysmal during his Presidency, and slower than any President before him. There were consecutive months of job growth because of the massive number of jobs lost. There was no way to not have growth in jobs, but it was slower than expected, and Growth itself never ever topped 2% which is nearly impossible in a recovery.

Look, Obama was a decent man but his policies were just wrong. They were based on poor economic theory that did not and was destined to never work. Stifling business at every instance is a recipe for disaster, and for businesses, those 8 years was just that.

Lastly, it wasn’t Republican policies that caused the recession it was the CRA which was entirely a Democrat policy. Mandating loans to people who never ever ever ever would pay them back (either due to circumstance or just becuase they knew they dind’t have to) caused a bubble which was destined to burst, and when it did, it took down everyone.

That is not to release the blame from companies that exploited the CRA, they are just as much to blame as the Democratic politicians who wanted the CRA so they could appease their constituents.

  293. SanDiegoCitizen says:

By the way, Mexico does allow private ownership of some guns if kept in the home. Because of rising crime, they are now allowing local armed citizen militias for form. Brazil has done the same.

Wow. WSJ editorial board warned of “A Navarro Recession” if Navarro keeps encouraging Trump to do more tariffs.

So Navarro called WSJ a communist paper “WSJ will write what it writes. It doesn’t sound a lot different from the People’s Daily in terms of the news that it puts out”

    – Wherein economic idiot Peter Navarro calls the WSJ editorial board communists. Just like his boss, he’s a thin skinned cry baby who has no clue what he’s doing with his tariff agenda. I’m sorry. I mean his patriotic tariff agenda.

But he went to Harvard so no biggie I guess.

  295. SanDiegoCitizen says:

    308. I understood what you meant Bitter. I do believe stronger law enforcement, and tools such as “stop and frisk” would make a difference. However, there also needs to be community outreach by the police, who should engage in what is known as “community policing” by working with the local citizens and community organizations. Also, think it is very important that police departments reflect the demographics of the community they are policing — there needs to be more officers of diverse backgrounds in urban areas.

  296. Phil says:

  308. Proud Obamacon says:

Sorry VC but you’re talking points are getting old. Not sure why you want to keep talking about Obama’s economy but surely you remember the complete mess he inherited. And you want 5% growth right off the bat? That the economy even turned around as fast as it did is a testament to sound, reasoned economic policy. A policy that then turned into the longest bull market ever. You then dismiss the 100+ months of consecutive job growth as meaning nothing because so many were lost. Well, who the hell was at the helm when the bottom fell out in 2007/2008?

Sorry, but to pin everything on the Democrats is a bit old. Which party had control of the House, Senate, and POTUS from 2002-2006? If the GOP saw a problem with CRA, why did they do nothing? Why did GWB keep touting the growing rate of home ownership? Why?

Sorry but your “everything is Obama’s fault” thinking is a very very tired act.

The economic turn around and expansion under Obama is one of the great economic stories of our history. Almost all of it done while your party was obstructing at every end. It’s sad that you can’t see past the party to be able to see that clearly.

In fact, Obama’s economic expansion was so strong that it has continued even after he left office. Sadly, the tax cuts are probably going to throw us into a recession and you have your Orange leader to thank for that. Good ole’ Trickle Down strikes again!

  309. Phil says:

Wait a sec, Beto at zero percent? Guess the I’m white apology tour isn’t doing the trick. Time for him to double down. Maybe if he can get Rosanna Arquette to vouch for his genuine regret at being white and perhaps endorse him.

  311. janz says:

Obama’s economy was described as either “tepid” or “”stagnated” throughout his presidency. His almost billion dollar stimulus did nothing to stimulate the economy, & the money left to his administration from the TARP bailout also appeared to have been mishandled. By the end of 8 years under Obama’s guidance more small businesses were going out of business than being created. Business optimism was dismal (no animal spirits). It was predicted that GDP would never rise more than 2%, with the year following his leaving office being somewhere around .9%. Remember too, Obama scoffed that manufacturing would never return, not even with a “magic wand.”

Oh yes, another untrue example of PO bluster….the “good people” Charlottesville comment by Trump was directed at the Lee statue protesters – those who wanted it to stay & those wanted it to be taken away. Trump repudiated white supremacy and antifa participation. But, misstating someone’s statement is the way PO rolls. Truth and accuracy is anathema to this poster…much like Robbie is.

  312. Proud Obamacon says:

Yeah JZ, I got ya. Obama’s economy did nothing. Oh except for the fact that it was his sound economic policy that prevented a depression and got us back on track after your other hero GWB left it in shambles. You want 5%-6% growth year after year. I know, that is completely realistic when you’re just recovering from a global disaster.

In Charlottesville, one side came ready with tiki torches chanting “Jews will not replace us” and mowed down an anti-racist activist. They were fine people according to your Orange Hero.

  313. janz says:

….labor participate rates never went up under Obama. Food stamps and poverty grew as did opioid usage. Household incomes went down, wages stagnated, health insurance premiums went up as did deductibles.

The underclass saw no benefits under the Obama regime, except for government handouts. Today’s unemployment has been reduced under ALL demographics, including those not graduating from HS and black youth in the 16-19 year old age groups.

Basically, Obama was entertaining celebrities in the WH during his occupancy. Trump is having labor, first responders etc. round tables and inviting working people into the “people’s house.” There is simply no contest on which president has benefited the country more, and it’s not Obama!

  314. Proud Obamacon says:

Now that that’s out of the way, maybe JZ can tell us how the El Paso white supremacist terrorist is really a Democrat. Those posts were funny and pathetic.

Sometimes yall just need to own it. You got a white supremacist radicalized by your Orange Hero’s hate-filled speech who then goes and shoots up a building full of Hispanics. This ain’t rocket science yall.

  315. Victrc says:

PO unlike you apparently most here are able to look at R leaders and discuss their faults. Sure, GWB and Congress were complicit in not reigning in the CRA that was the staple of D policy. Let’s face it GWB and crowd will never be known as fiscal conservatives and many like me failed against their spending.

With that said I don’t think anyone in their right mind would expect 5% growth EVER. ITS ALMOST impossible nowadays, but how about 2% growth?? Six years into a recovery?? Didn’t happen once with Obama who absolutely did not keep us from a depression. In fact he pushed us closer with his failed stimulus. Sorry, claiming Obama was a fiscal success as a President is either disingenuous and completely blinded by partisanship. The economy of today would never be soaring as it has the last two and a half years of Trump had not done away with disastrous business crushing policies that Obama enacted. Unfortunately the one we can not escape might be the worst. Obamacare

  316. Proud Obamacon says:

“.labor participate rates never went up under ”

Ah yeah, the good old labor participation talking point. Haven’t heard that in a while. Why is that JZ? Has there been any improvement under your Orange Hero? Hint, there is a reason we don’t hear about it from ReTHUGs anymore. I’ll let you guess the reason!

Lost enough brain cells for the day. Enjoy the rest of the day in your white nationalist virtual space!

  317. Proud Obamacon says:

“Unfortunately the one we can not escape might be the worst. Obamacare”

IKR? So unfortunate that 20 million people including children were able to have healthcare. How tragic!

This place truly is sick. Bye for now yall

  318. janz says:

Another lie PO. A depression was averted by the bail out in 2008. All Obama had to do was implement sound fiscal policy, rather than squander money on useless programs, in order to inject the economy into overdrive. That never happened.

You also continue to spread erroneous stories about what happened in Charlottesville. A small group of white supremists did March, followed later on by a larger group associated with antifa. They wouldn’t have clashed if the anti-trump mayor had managed the routes better so these 2 violent groups would not have crossed paths with each other. The planning of this protest was later publicly criticized. Trump played no part in any of this except for the comments made afterwards, which were grossly distorted to attribute racial overtones to the resistance narrative.

Noticed he was at the Google event in Sicily recently which the very rich flew to in over 100 private plans, or boated in on luxury yachts to talk about saving the planet. If the CEO of HSBC has been lending $400b USD to china to help them prop up their Monopoly money, that accounts for half of the reserves we have calculated that have already run. The chinese bank forward position on CNH is another $450 billion. Their currency is a HOUSE OF CARDS.Kyle Bass added,
