    The Ukraine scandal has now sneered other drat Senators.

    It got almost no attention, but in May, CNN reported that Sens. Robert Menendez (D-N.J.), Richard J. Durbin (D-Ill.) and Patrick J. Leahy (D-Vt.) wrote a letter to Ukraine’s prosecutor general, Yuriy Lutsenko, expressing concern at the closing of four investigations they said were critical to the Mueller probe. In the letter, they implied that their support for U.S. assistance to Ukraine was at stake. Describing themselves as “strong advocates for a robust and close relationship with Ukraine,” the Democratic senators declared, “We have supported [the] capacity-building process and are disappointed that some in Kyiv appear to have cast aside these [democratic] principles to avoid the ire of President Trump,” before demanding Lutsenko “reverse course and halt any efforts to impede cooperation with this important investigation.”

    It is mind boggling. The D’s in R districts who just got elected have to be pulling their hair. I never thought I would see the day when the far far far left wing of the D party would take over, but that day has come.

    Sorry, but if the transcript tomorrow turns out to be benign (to the average person. Dem’s will think it to be evidence that backs their Mueller dream) then they will be fried in 2020. Americans are sick and tired of this. Top it off with being lectured by a 16 year old today, I think Americans will have had enough.

    They might have done the impossible. Elect Trump a second time.

    Flynn was doing his job. The leak was illegal. The basis for going after Flynn was none,

    The biggest surprise today will be that President Trump had a constitutional duty, under the Take Care Clause of the Constitution, to make certain that the laws regarding serious corruption against a former VP of the United States were properly executed.

    Rudy Giuliani
    Had Obama understood this clause under the Constitution, this pay-for-play scheme, might have been stopped at any early stage. It’s not a single act, as you will see, it’s a pattern of abuse of public office.

  27. Phil says:

    Like I said last night, Biden is dead. Democrats are determined to proceed on this Ukraine business against Trump and the obvious double standard of Biden’s Ukrainian actions undercuts that. He’s in the way so he’s got to go.

    So long, Joe. The radicals now have complete control of the Democratic Party both on the hill and among their Presidential candidates on the trail.

    Trump vs Warren in the fall. Couldn’t be a bigger contrast.

  28. dblaikie says:

    First of all unless opinion or perception equals fact this transcript is nothing. Second this is the end for Biden in my opinion. Third I am going to be fascinated by what the majority of the 31 dems who won in Trump districts are going to do? I suspect they will fall on their swords like good soldiers! Fourth do you sense the rage out there with Trump’s base? They now will walk through fire. The only thing that could mar this day for the gop is if the leadership caves.

  29. Phil says:

    Joe Biden.

  30. lisab says:

    the dems in red districts have to vote to impeach

    enough of their supporters are leftists that they will lose their seats if the don’t

    which also means they will likely lose with indies … but …

    if they vote not to impeach they won’t have a job waiting for them if they lose.

  31. lisab says:

    predictit today

    warren 53 cents

  32. lisab says:

    in the last 24 hours

    warren has gained 7 cents

    biden has lost 7 cents

  33. lisab says:

    George Conway predicts Republicans will vote against Trump on impeachment

    the dems played it correctly with clinton

    united you stand

    divided you end up with a small minority party led by romney

  34. Phil says:

    Conway must be on drugs. LOL

  35. Victrc says:

    My first inclination was to agree with Bitter that the release wouldn’t sway either sides opinion, and to a degree I still do, BUT with indies I have to believe that this will be just another mueller report which showed a whole bunch of nothing.

    I thought Trump had nine lives but I think he’s on number 12 by now.

    I agree with Wes that this is going to be a lot like 1998, only this time for the Dems. I do believe the House will be in play.

    Let’s see if Trump can finally realize the good luck he’s had and not blow it.

  36. lisab says:

    i think there is more danger than you think

    there are more than a handful of republicans, like romney, who could take the opportunity to bring trump down

    all they have to do is give the dems some cover … even if he is not in danger of being impeached, they could cripple his campaign for 2020

  37. lisab says:

    if the gop stays united

    then it is warren vs. trump in 2020

    and i have to support trump

    it will be a bumpy ride

  41. lisab says:

    seriously …

    in what democratic party can a woman who lied about her ethnicty to get ahead

    be the nominee?

  42. Phil says:

    Yep. Warren vs Trump. We just picked up another vote. Thanks, Lisa.

  43. lisab says:

    Ukrainian Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko: We have evidence of the Biden family stealing millions from Ukraine and request a meeting with AG Barr immediately.
    * Sworn statements from two Ukrainian officials admitting that their agency tried to influence the 2016 U.S. presidential election in favor of Hillary Clinton. The effort included leaking an alleged ledger showing payments to then-Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort;
    * Contacts between Democratic figures in Washington and Ukrainian officials that involved passing along dirt on Donald Trump;
    * Financial records showing a Ukrainian natural gas company routed more than $3 million to American accounts tied to Hunter Biden, younger son of then-Vice President Joe Biden, who managed U.S.-Ukrainian relations for the Obama administration. Biden’s son served on the board of a Ukrainian natural gas company, Burisma Holdings;
    * Records that Vice President Biden pressured Ukrainian officials in March 2016 to fire the prosecutor who oversaw an investigation of Burisma Holdings and who planned to interview Hunter Biden about the financial transfers;
    * Correspondence showing members of the State Department and U.S. embassy in Kiev interfered or applied pressure in criminal cases on Ukrainian soil;
    * Disbursements of as much as $7 billion in Ukrainian funds that prosecutors believe may have been misappropriated or taken out of the country, including to the United States.

  44. jan says:

    #31 I agree that the continuing efforts to get rid of Trump will only incense not only his base but those who have become angry with such senseless abuse of congressional power. Whether or not this will negatively impact Pelosi’s House remains to be seen. However, after reading what turned out to be an innocuous transcript I was left wondering where the evidence was pointing to high crimes and misdemeanors.

    I also want to address the appearance of a double standard regarding the resurrection of Biden’s slimy Ukrainian dealings, the DNC requesting Trump dirt from Ukraine in 2016, and the May 2018 Durbin/Menendez/Leahy letter posted by Tina – all of which suggest either election meddling or twisting another country’s arm to get their cooperation. And yet, here we are delving into a seemingly inconsequential Trump phone call.

    One of Alinsky’s rules was to blame another for what you are doing. This certainly seems to be the dem behavioral playbook since Trump took office.

  45. Phil says:

    Biden’s big trump card was his poll numbers vs Trump. Electability…..That latest head to head with Trump blows that out of the water. He’ll be out of the race by the end of October.

  46. Bitterlaw says:

    The House Dems who won in 2018 in Red districts will be released-elected in 2020 for one reason. Enough voters there still hate Trump.

  47. Bitterlaw says:

    Phil – A few months ago you were certain that Harris would be the nominee. Now, you are certain that Warren will be the nominee. You are one of the smartest posters here but you get swept up in the star of the moment.

  48. Bitterlaw says:

    49 Re-elected.

  49. Tina says:

    We may need to rename this site the Warren Report.

    I always thought she could be the nominee.

  50. NYCmike says:

    -Hey “CG”, Robbie,

    More “immorality” from Trump! No way he is a Republican!

    “tax cuts and regulatory rollback………”!

    “The combination of tax cuts and regulatory rollback has produced a much-needed American job renaissance. According to the most recent employment snapshot from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, “In August, the unemployment rate was 3.7% for the third month in a row.” This is excellent. Even more excellent, the unemployment rates for women (3.3%), blacks (5.5%), Hispanics (4.2%), and Asians (2.8%) are near or at all-time record lows.

    Even better, “The labor force participation rate edged up to 63.2% in August … The employment-population ratio, at 60.9%, also edged up over the month and is up by 0.6 percentage point over the year.””

  51. NYCmike says:

    “I thought Trump had nine lives but I think he’s on number 12 by now.”

    I disagree. Trump has stayed true to himself.

    As Bitterlaw and jason would tell you “Once an A-Hole, always an A-Hole!”.

    Trump hasn’t diverted from what got him to where he is.
