It appears that the State Dept. meeting with the IG and Congressional staff was a dud according to a Democrat Congressman(Raskin).Great excitement and then NOTHING!!! Discuss.

“Raskin called the information an “irrelevant distraction” and questioned whether it was actually “urgent,” as the IG initially told congressional aides yesterday.”

  3. Sheeple, Jr. says:

    Brit Hume is so right:

“This puts the whole impeachment inquiry in a new light. There’s no getting around the appearance that collusion-truther and Trump antagonist Schiff was a partner in this from the start. https://twitter.com/nytimes/status/1179457662414675968 …”

    Scalise’s statement is very,very weak!!

I said in the last thread that the facts are not in doubt and thus everything else is fairly irrelevant.

    -What should they hide?

  15. VictrC says:

I actually agree. Let the chips fall where they may.

With all due respect Corey, Trump did absolutely nothing wrong. What he did is done on a regular basis amongst leaders of countries. The “favor” he asked had nothing to do with asking Ukraine to help on Biden, it was about the corruption associated with 2016, which Democrats have allegedly been trying to investigate for three years.

When he asked about the prosecutor being fired it was a legitimate question, as its a legitimate concern what went down.

There is nothing there. It was intended to be a scandal and more than anything, keep the idea of “Trump asking for foreign collusion” in the minds of voters, since the Russian Collusion story was disproven.

  16. BayernFan says:

    Democrats are beyond despicable.

“I have consistently said from Day 1 that Trump is worse than a hard core leftist.”

    -“CG” in the last thread.

  18. Bitterlaw says:

As a person, Trump is probably worse than any Democrat running for President. Except for his trade and tariff policies (which are the Democrats’ policies), Trump’s policies are better than a hard core Leftist. Both can be true.

  19. Hugh says:

Bitter. Do u believe what you just posted? Does he advocate late term abortion? How can you be worse than that?

  20. SanDiegoCitizen says:

The important question is whether the Biden family was involved in corruption in the Ukraine. Trump has the right to request the new Ukrainian government investigate it, since Joe Biden was acting on behalf of the U.S. government when he pushed out the Ukrainian prosecutor, who was investigating the company Biden’s son was involved with.

What we are learning from this episode is that if Biden ever became president, we would get a repeat of the type of corruption we saw with the Clinton Foundation.

  21. SanDiegoCitizen says:

    22. “As a person, Trump is probably worse than any Democrat running for President.”

I don’t know Bitter, Biden is sounding pretty sleazy to me. His son, with the cocaine habit, seems to have traveled around with him and gotten lucrative contracts shortly after Joe Biden visited countries on government business.

  24. VictrC says:

Proud… just like we were going to go down on election night in 2016?

Ironically, from what I gather of you, you will be getting the outcome you are looking for, Biden out of the race. I do have a question for you, do you think Sanders will recover from this heart problem? Is he someone you could support?

One last question, as I doubt anyone has asked you, but who is your preferred candidate in the primaries?

Warren is unacceptable to the tech industry and other monied interest who are in actual control of the Democratic Party. They wanted Harris, but would have settled for Biden. I see a push to get Hillary to run, as it is their only option left — unless they think they can get a lesser know candidate to gain traction.

  39. Bitterlaw says:

Hillary could be a threat. If Trump started calling her corrupt again, her response would be easy – “You had 4 years to lock me up, Donald. You didn’t because you had no case against me.”

If she ran, I don’t see any of her 2016 states flipping to him. She won’t ignore PA, Michigan and Wisconsin in 2020.

  40. Phil says:

She would have to get the nomination. I don’t see those other candidates, especially Warren even letting her get any traction.

  41. Hugh says:

Americans disliked her so much they elected Trump. How will she appeal to Blue collar voters, at least enough to flip PA, MI and WI (which BTW she would have to flip all three because she’s not winning any other Trump states. Not FL, Not NC

It was not that long ago that posters on this board assured me that Biden would be the Democratic nominee, because the Democrats would go with the candidate they absolutely knew could beat Trump. Now look where the Democrats are.

Trump may get impeached, but he will not be convicted by the Senate, and will be running for reelection in 2020. Biden will be past history by then. Sanders, who was the second strongest candidate in the polls, against Trump, now has heart issues.

Who do the Democrats have? Warren? She comes across as priggish and self-righteous; and her proposals to regulation and tax everything are not popular with the voters.

  57. SanDiegoCitizen says:

Bill Clinton had some of his highest poll numbers when he was being impeached. Making it worse for the Democrats, in the coming months instead of the voters focusing on the primary candidates, the impeachment hearings will give far leftist like OAC and Tlaib a daily forum to spout their extreme views.

“President Trump’s approval ticked up to 49 percent — its highest mark this year, according to a new Hill-HarrisX survey released on Wednesday.

The figure marks a 2-point increase from a Sept. 11-12 poll, but a 2-point decrease from its previous peak of 51 percent last August.

Trump’s disapproval rating, meanwhile, dropped to 51 percent, which marks his lowest level so far this year.

The nationwide survey was conducted on Sept. 28 and 29, less than a week after House Democrats launched a formal impeachment inquiry into Trump over concerns raised in a whistleblower’s complaint about the president’s communications with Ukraine.”

Like I said, Kamala is dead meat after California.

Trump vs Warren. Let’s get this party started.

  156. VictrC says:

The irony is that we really don’t know who is going to be the nominee. If we went back to 1991 Clinton was in 13th place at the end of June with 1.7% and as late as January 1992 was in fourth place with only 8%, trailing Brown, Cuomo and Wilder.

In 1976 Carter was at 1% entering the year, with Wallace at 20% and Humphrey at 15%. We don’t have to go back that far to 2004 when Kerry trailed the filed as late as December by a substantial margin.

The fact is, that a lot can happen before Iowa, and one of those who are languishing could come up…or Hillary could come into the field and try to gain what she thinks is rightfully hers.

We don’t know, though it does look like Warren’s stock is rising. Maybe one of the moderates comes through, though I don’t think this is like 1992 anymore. This primary has been a race to the extreme left.

  157. VictrC says:

Interesting fact from the article where I gathered the information from above.

“Of the 9 primary cycles in our study, the Democrat who was placing first in the early polls won just twice (1984 and 2000). Although the second-place candidate won on three other occasions (1980, 2004, 2008), there were years (1972, 1976, 1992) in which the eventual nominee emerged from deep in the early field.”

It should be noted that in 1980 Carter was the second place candidate and in 2008 there were only three choices, not the multiples that were found in the 72, 76 and 92 races, which more resemble this year’s afffair.

  166. jason says:

    Who wrote this?

“The effect of impeachment is to overturn the popular will of the voters as expressed in a national election. We must not overturn an election and remove a president from office except to defend our very system of government or our constitutional liberties against a dire threat. And we must not do so without an overwhelming consensus of the American people and of their representatives in Congress of the absolute necessity …

“There must never be a narrowly voted impeachment or an impeachment substantially supported by one of our major political parties and largely opposed by the other. Such an impeachment would lack legitimacy, would produce divisiveness and bitterness in our politics for years to come. And will call into question the very legitimacy of our political institutions … We have no right to overturn the considered judgment of the American people …

“To impeach the president would subject the country to the trauma of a trial in the Senate. It would paralyze the government for many months while the problems of Social Security, Medicare, and a deteriorating world economy, and all our foreign concerns fester without proper attention …

“The president’s accusers must go beyond hearsay and innuendo and beyond demands that the president prove his innocence of vague and changing charges. They must provide clear and convincing evidence of specific impeachable conduct.”

    Yep, Jerry Nadler.

  171. jason says:

“The U.S. unemployment rate fell in September to a new five-decade low of 3.5 percent, while employers added a modest 136,000 jobs.

The September unemployment rate fell from 3.7 percent in August. The average hourly wages slipped by a penny. Hourly pay rose 2.9 percent from a year earlier, lower than 3.4 percent at the beginning of the year, the Labor Department said Friday in its monthly jobs report.

Recent job gains have averaged 157,000 in the past three months, enough to absorb new job seekers and potentially lower unemployment over time.

The September jobs report is likely to keep the Federal Reserve on track to cut rates later this month for the third time this year to try to help sustain the expansion.

The unemployment rate for Latinos fell to 3.9 percent, the lowest on records dating from 1973.”

  172. Wobbles says:

This job report is a distraction for the new scandal that we are hoping to bring forth today.

I don’t know what it is yet but it’s devastating for Trump.

If this doesn’t cause a brokered convention, I don’t know what will.

    Unless tomorrow’s scandal is better.

  173. Wobbles says:

Here is Plan 4589-C, very exciting.

“An Internal Revenue Service official has filed a whistleblower complaint reporting that he was told at least one Treasury Department political appointee attempted to improperly interfere with the annual audit of the president or vice president’s tax returns, according to multiple people familiar with the document.”

    “He was told”.

  174. dblaikie says:

If you think the desperation in the deep state is bad now, with so-called whistleblowers popping up suddenly everywhere, wait to when John Durham convenes a grand jury. Talk about rats trying to flee a sinking ship.

  175. dblaikie says:

“He was told!” This stuff is so beyond the pale that it almost makes you laugh. I guess as far as Trump is concerned hearsay is just fine. A friend, of a friend, who is a third cousin of a janitor in the IRS building, who knows the secretary of a person who has heard that a Trump political appointee was doing bad things. Sounds reasonable to me.

  176. Victrc says:

    Dbl

Democrats have had this “whistleblower” complaint for nearly three months. They know it’s nothing but thought the timing was good to release since they think the public won’t care about its content, they think the American public is ignorant and will just see it as another Trump illegal
    Activity…despite nothing happening

Trust me, If they could have used this to take him down months ago, or at least get his returns, they would have.

  177. jason says:

How desperate do the Never Trumpers have to be to embark on this idiocy along with the Democrats?

  178. jason says:

I can’t vouch for Trump’s returns in the past, but I would probably bet his returns while he is President are done by some top accounting firm and scrutinized intensely.

  179. jason says:

The B17 that crashed in CT was 75 years old. The pilot was also 75. 75 is not too old for a pilot, many are still flying in their 80’s, but it might be too old to carry paying passengers, you can’t fly a commercial plane at 75.
