      What China Biden in fourth?

    2. Paul says:

Come on, Iowa! Your corn-feed salt-of-the-earth folk are supposed to bring some sanity to my party.

    3. Paul says:

They’d be throwing Sherrod Brown in about now if it didn’t mean sacrificing a senate seat.

      Buttigieg 29, Trump 35”

Can’t believe there can be so many undecideds.

    7. VictrC says:

Paul. Do you think Sherrod Brown would play nationally? Do you consider him a centrist. He calls himself a progressive populist and is pretty far left on a number of issues including tax, guns and healthcare. He was an early backer of Sanders before switching support to Clinton in 2016

I went to school with his daughter who is now in politics .

    8. VictrC says:

I say 4 am because no matter if the election is over by 9pm they won’t call it because a. They want the ratings and b. They will never be able to admit it.

You thought calling SC, GA and Ohio took a long time, wait till 2020. They will wait to call Alabama and Mississippi until midnight.

    9. NYCmike says:

“Remember when they waited to call SC.. GA…Ohio, etc”

      -Point taken, Victrc.

That wait actually made it even sweeter……knowing that there were libs hanging on, hoping THEIR GOD could make it right!

    10. NYCmike says:

“They will wait to call Alabama and Mississippi until midnight.”

    11. Paul says:

8: VictrC, I think he would appeal to a more everyday folk and centrists. And he has really ripped apart “medicare for all.” For many progressives, that makes him “far right.” 🙂

    12. Paul says:

I am the polar opposite of Robbie. He’s the eeyore of conservatives that is certain the sky is falling. I’m the eeyore of the Democrats. I think they are completely screwing up things. The impeachment will only make Trump stronger. And then they are fighting over who can be the most crazy of leftists, calling anyone who wants to keep private insurance around as a sellout.

I would love a normal candidate to rise to the top besides the one who is nearly 80 and can’t quite remember which state he’s in. Either, we get the old Socialist, the School Marm, the smart gay guy, or grandpa.

    13. Paul says:

I think the Dems best shot is with the smart gay guy. But I’m not hopeful.

    14. CG says:

Would that be Kasich, Rubio, or Cruz?

      (According to lisab)

    15. VictrC says:

I think most on this board would agree that a truly centrist Dem would probably win, unfortunately most are gone and those that remain, Bullock (sic) et al have not chance at the nomination.

Heck…the most centrist besides the one who is unfortunately losing his facilities (because he is a genuinely nice guy) is Buttigieg. Let that sink in.

130M voters + will go to the polls in November, 120M+ will hold their nose and vote for someone. Because of how far left the D’s have gone (A socialist sectagenerian, a woman who wants to spend $52T on healthcare by adding a massive tax on employers and put a 6% special tax on the rich after raising their rates to a min of 40%) That is the reality of the situation which is why Trump has a chance of winning.

    16. Paul says:

      15: 🙂

    17. VictrC says:

CG. I am sorry to say that the fantasy of Kasich (the Republican Vichy) Rubio or Cruz being the R nominee would mean a historic R defeat.

You have to be joking if you think kicking Trump off the ticket is going to get an R elected President. I personally backed Rubio in 2016 and think Cruz is a smart man (albeit not likable) but you will disenfranchise so many voters in swing states that you will have no chance of carrying them…plus you bring the Carolinas, Florida, Georgia, TN, TX and more into play because of sheer anger.

    18. CG says:

I was merely making reference to the 2016 GOP candidates whom the resident gayness expert said were gay.

Trump was the weakest possible Republican candidate in 2016 and remains in an incredibly weak political position.

    19. Big Joe says:

“a huge number of trump supporters will not publicly say so.

“at a conference i was at last weekend, an hr lawyer openly said she would fire anyone that wore a maga hat”

But they can tell a pollster, no? Are they afraid that a pollster will rat them out to their employer. Unfortunately, polls like these don’t tell us much unless there’s some insight on who the undecideds are and how they lean.

      Big Joe

    20. CG says:

Apparently, in 2018, there was a massive amount of Trump supporters so fearful of losing their jobs at the hands of vengeful liberals that they voted Democrat in the midterms, just to be safe….

    21. Paul says:

Lisab will be warning us about the White House foam parties that Buttigieg will be throwing for his Episcopalian Men’s prayer group.

    22. VictrC says:

CG.. Gotcha. Though I disagree that Trump was the weakest candidate for us in 2016. I didn’t support him AT ALL but he proved to have an ability to talk to the disenfranchised blue collar worker in WI, PA and MI that many others in the field couldn’t. Kasich may have carried those states (but lost Florida and other close red states) Cruz? No, Jeb? Hell no. Marco? 50/50

I didn’t realize Buttigieg was an Episcopalian. Now it makes sense. They are one tick right of Unitarian.

    23. Paul says:

21: Plus the socialists are a known quantity so their number is locked in place. For Trump, it is still unknown regarding how crazy he can get. 🙂

    24. CG says:

I think just about any Republican would have wound up being Hillary in those states that she took for granted. The exit polls clearly back that up. Trump was very unpopular in those states, yet he still managed to win them because people were voting against Hillary.

There were other states that would have been in play with a more mainstream Republican (Bush, Rubio, Kasich). Needless to say, Republicans lost a ton of their typical voters in 2016, mainly upscale suburbanites. By 2018, it had gotten even worse for Republicans due to Trump as many of those voted Democrat.

Check out the 2016 exit polls from those states for yourself. I have referenced them directly at great detail on here. People just do not want to deal with the reality of them.

For example, you can look at Wisconsin, where Trump won in an upset and see in terms of favorability, approval, etc, how much more unpopular Trump was there than the specific example given on the exit poll in the person of Paul Ryan.

All data indicates that a more traditional mainstream Republican would have fared far better nationwide than Trump did then and needless to say would be in a much better position than Trump is now.

      Yeah you’re right.
      2008 population: 300M
      2020 population (projected): 330M

So 10% population growth. This means 60M 2008 votes are equivalent to 66M 2020 votes.

Voting age population would be more accurate than total population. I just did a quick Google search on total pop. Someone with more time is welcome to do a voting age pop. check. Not me though, I’m out for the night.

Also, Vic you are right also. The distribution of the votes matter and that is an important lesson for Democrats.

With regard to tying the number of votes to an increase in population you should be careful not to fall into that trap. The figureyou are looking for is eligible voters. A big portion of that growth will not be eligible to vote as its tied to immigration and not so much direct population growth from those born here. Eligible Age Voters is what you are looking for if you did a search. It will grow, just not at the numbers you might expect.

    66. lisab says:

In fact in the impeachment month of October the Campaign has raised 19 million dollars just online. That doesn’t include other streams of contributions.

If they don’t take Trump out, all they have done is create a monster. By the time of the Iowa Caucus I wouldn’t be surprised if Trump had over 200 million cash on hand. Unlike most politicians like Jeb Bush, Donald Trump will know how to put that cash to maximum effect. And of course this will carry over into the Republican Party.

Looking back, I wouldn’t be surprised for future historians to claim that the best thing the Democrats did for Donald Trump and the GOP was to try and impeach him in a totally partisan procedure.

    76. dblaikie says:

It gets even better. At the end of the third quarter the Democratic Party had 8.2 million on hand while the GOP had 53.8 million. In fact since Trump had 156 million on hand at the end of the third quarter I am going to up my estimate to 250 million cash on hand for the Campaign by the Iowa Caucus.

      #66 Vic-
Yes you’re right. You are referring to the “VEP” (Voting-eligible population) and I did acknowledge that it’s a better metric than total population, though total population does allow for general trend analysis.

So looking at VEP, here’s what I found:
      VEP 2008: 213M (source: http://www.electproject.org/2008g)
      VEP 2012: 222M (source: http://www.electproject.org/2012g)
      VEP 2016: 231M (source: http://www.electproject.org/2016g)
VEP 2020 (my projection): 240M (seems VEP goes up by 9M every cycle so 240M seems reasonable)

Simple cross-multiplication tells us that 60M votes in 2008 would be equivalent to 67.6M votes in 2020.

Interestingly, it appears that VEP is increasing at a faster clip than Total Population.

Just for kicks and giggles, an Obama ’08 Dem turnout in 2020 would be equivalent to 77.7M.

Of course, this is a national figure. Individual state-specific VEP’s would vary and offer greater insights. But ain’t nobody got time for that!

Draw whatever conclusions you like. Cheers! 😀

94 Tina…I am thinking Spy Gate is of such corrupt magnitude and whistleblower hoax so obviously a deep state effort to Barr that He has to give updates to Trump to help protect him and prepare for the fall out that is coming,

    92. JeffP says:

Joe just needs to go home to spend time with his family. Just saw a video of him speaking to a big screen with his back to the crowd…he could not tell the difference…OMG….poor guy.

      Deep State? Zzzzzzzzz

If there was a Deep State, we would not know about it. That is the point of a Deep State.

I had a more interesting night at The Hooters concert.

@HouseDemocrats have been holding a closed-door investigation in @RepAdamSchiff’s basement. After facing intense flak, their #KangarooCourt has now turned into a full-fledged fishing expedition to find any reason to mask that the American people duly elected @realDonaldTrump.

“[Vindman] told lawmakers that he was deeply troubled by what he interpreted as an attempt by the president to subvert U.S. foreign policy.” Doesn’t the president set U.S. foreign policy?

    102. Bitterlaw says:

If there is a Deep State, it sucks. We deserve a better Deep State with enough professionalism to not be discovered.

      Any predictions for Tuesday?

      I’ll give mine:

      Bevin-51; Beshear-48

      Reeves-54; Hood-45

Republicans win all other statewide offices in both states by double digits—except KYAG. They win that 52-47.

Dems complete their domination of VA on Tuesday by going to 56-44 in the State House and 22-18 in the State Senate. The VAGOP is rapidly becoming as irrelevant to state politics as it was from the end of Reconstruction till 1969.

    105. Wes says:

I almost forgot about the cesspool euphemistically called a state known as New Jersey.

Liberal corruption continues to dominate the epicenter of world corruption as more corrupt Democrats enter the state legislature. I don’t really care about specific numbers because they’re irrelevant. Voters will continue to vote for big-spending, high-taxing corruption and like it. Honestly we should just launch a few H-bombs at the Land of Corruption and be done with it. Irradiating that corrupt Sewer would actually be an exponential improvement.

    106. John says:

With September’s numbers revised higher wages has now increased at ‘least 3% for 15 straight months’
And ‘more moderate gains reported for the tenure under Barrack Obama were further revised down.

Speaking of upcoming elections – Louisiana’s gubernatorial general election (Edwards/Rispone) is slated for Nov. 16 but early voting started yesterday (Nov. 2)

While in Iowa, Joe Biden says he is in “Ohio”

    110. Phil says:

The impeachment stuff is designed to erode Trump’s numbers among independents. Nothing more and nothing less. And, of course, everyone knows he won’t be convicted in the Senate. He won indies 45-42 in 2016 over Hillary according to the exits. That’s the Democrats’ and their media stooges’ target. Impeachment won’t effect Democratic or Republicans either way. In fact, it will only serve to harden and drive up Republican turnout and juice Trump’s fund raising numbers…and I mean REALLY juice them. Democrats were already juiced due to Trump Derangement. They won’t benefit nearly as much.

Look for the impeachment vote to take place in the House around Christmas. Expect Republicans to vote 100% against and on the actual vote to impeach…and the Democrats voting no will rise from two to 6-8. I see no Republican defections in the Senate to actually vote to remove and that includes Romney. There will be at least two certain Democratic defections in Manchin and Jones with a possibility of one more in the senator from Arizona. That’s an absolute max of 45 votes in the Senate to remove. 45-55 or 44-56 won’t be very impressive when the trial ends in late February or early March. Impeachment will have served Trump’s purpose in the long run – Because of it he will have a pissed off angry base that will crawl over broken glass to support him.

Either the left hasn’t fully gamed this out or they are so enraged that it has totally warped their political judgement.

    111. Phil says:

Will someone who is close to Biden please pull Joe aside and talk some sense to him to get him out of the race? This is sad.

    112. Hugh says:

New fox poll has crazy joe blowing out trump. Fox News needs to rethink their business model. I barely watch them anymore and no longer go to their website. Their true colors are coming out as they move left.

    113. Phil says:

The Fox polls are always D+8 and this one is no exception, D+8 right on the money. The Party ID in 2016 according to the exits was D+3.

I’m not a big fan of reweighting polls but this one doesn’t pass the smell test. It also has Sanders blowing out Trump. That to me is just confirmation to me that the poll is hot garbage.

    114. Bitterlaw says:

Nobody pulled Trump aside when he talked about building a wall on the Colorado/Mexico border. Nobody is talking Biden out of running. Republicans think Biden is old and losing it. Democrats think Biden occasionally makes poor statements because he is passionate and tirelessly working to save the country.

    115. John says:

And according to this poll ‘across 6 battleground states voters oppose impeaching and removing Trump from office, 52-44%’

    116. Phil says:

Biden talking to a screen because he was tirelessly working to save the country.

Hmmm. Not how I’d choose to go about saving the country but sure, let’s go with that one.

    117. Tina says:

Yeah talking to wall and mentioning how a border wall in az by extension. helps folks in other states is comparable. Lol.

    118. Tina says:

How many are in Chiba Bidens crowd in Iowa uh Ohio or wherever he is in his mind.

Maybe 20 including 12 press and a screen

    119. Bitterlaw says:

Nice revisionism, Tina. Trump put the wall on the Colorado border. It was a mistake. Not a huge deal but you can’t admit any Trump error.

    120. Bitterlaw says:

Wes said I am right? That is a rare thing indeed.

    121. Wes says:
