Buttigieg Stalls while Klobuchar Gains in NH

    Uno Bebe! Uno!

  2. Phil says:

    Go Bernie!

  3. lisab says:

seems like klobochar will get about 10% and then dies on super tuesday

i think warren survives longer, because she will get hillary’s cat lady votes, i predict she gets third

sanders, biden, buttigieg, warren and bloomberg will fight and i think buttigieg runs out of money next

  4. lisab says:

biden may actually be hurting the dems on the black vote

that is, he is supposed to get the black vote, but he is clearly not the man he was in 2008 or 2012. does this make some of them leave the plantation?

sanders, warren and bloomberg are not exactly organizers of the black community

  5. lisab says:

maybe bloomberg can buy an endorsement from warren and klobochar?

China Biden is done with this statement to a voter:

    …”No, you haven’t.. you’re a lying dog-faced pony soldier”…

  8. Tgca says:

I don’t see Mayors Butt and Bloomie rallying the AA community behind them based on their history but time will tell.

In addition, the recent video of Bloomie degrading midwesterners and referring to himself as intelligentsia compared to common folk is going to make for some great ads in the Midwest…and actually anywhere outside the big liberal cities. This is up there with STOOPID elitist comments like Hillary’s deplorables and Romney’s 47%.

Common folks know exactly what these critters mean by those statements and what they think of them so good luck getting their votes.

  9. Skippy says:

Good grief most of you still aren’t getting what’s going on in New Hampshire.

Tonight when Emerson comes out with their daily NH tracking poll it will have Klobmentum right up against Mayor Pete.

    Brace for impact!!

  10. Tgca says:

Funny satire. Romney joining Biden would not only convert no GOP voters but it would guarantee a lot of liberal voters pass on such a ticket as they could never imagine that Biden could kick the bucket and Romney would become POTUS

  11. Tgca says:

Sounds like Skippy thinks Klobuchar is going to TOP Mayor Butt. That may not be surprising as he definitely looks like a BOTTOM to me.

  12. Tgca says:

Sorry! No offense SDC. Just a joke. Bottoms are people too…I get that.

  13. Bitterlaw says:

This year, I saw 3 movies nominated for best picture.

Joker – Interesting and very dark. Maybe it wins for being very different. Joaquin Phoenix could easily win Best Actor.

Marriage Story – Ok but nothing special. Since most of Hollywood is probably divorced, maybe the voters like stories this this.

1917 – Amazing. It gets my vote.

    -6 precincts with duplicated results
-84 reporting more voters in the final alignment than in the initial alignment
-471 with candidates in final alignment below viability threshold
    -dozens awarding extra delegates

I agree on Joker. Very dark and unsettling but well done.

I have yet too see 1917 but will so sometime as I hear it’s good.

Did not see Marriage Story. Not generally my genre. Did you like it better than the Notebook or Pride and Prejudice?

  17. Bitterlaw says:

Never saw The Notebook. I think I saw Pride and Prejudice in the version with Winona Ryder and Emma Something (Thompson?).

    Jason,

My wager is $30 for Klobuchar to win Dem Nomination at +5000 on Sportsbook.

Klobmentum would have gotten to 15% in Iowa if it wasn’t for the impeachment proceedings taking her out of Iowa in the last week of the campaign.

But all is good. Klobuchar is slowly becoming the Sanders Alternative. Milwaukee will burn down to the ground once the DNC and all the establishment Democrats give Klobuchar the nomination. I will have my $1500.

    It’s happening.

    Klobmentum.

You all are painfully slow in picking up what I’m laying down.

It’s ok though. I will guide you all all through this Democratic implosion.

Huh, aren’t Sanders and Warren Senators too?

    They did better than Klobuchar.

    That dog won’t hunt.

  30. jason says:

Klobuchar is 5th in 4/5 polls.

    Hard to see any “momentum”.

  31. Cash Cow TM says:

The cow herds in NH are much fewer and smaller than in IA, so I am getting very little info from NH to help me with a prediction there.

I will say that an unusual number of the cows are leaning toward Bloomberg…

The NH cows are also fleeing from Biden as if he has the coronavirus. PLUS, they are afraid he might grab their udders.

  32. jason says:

    Biden/Romney unity ticket?

Where is the unity? 95% of Rs support Trump, not Romney.

    But I would support a Biden/Trump ticket against a Trump/Biden ticket.

  33. jason says:

Poorly worded. I would support those tickets existing, not that I would support Biden/Trump over Trump/Biden.

  34. Phil says:

So some Never Trumpers throwing out the prospect of a Biden-Romney ticket.

Obviously no comment needed since this is obviously sheer fantasy. However, It does show the bubble the Kristol, Jenny Rubin, Steve Schmidt, Max Boot, Ana Navarro, George Conways live in these days. Trump currently gets the support of 94% of Republicans surpassing the 89-90 percent he got in the 2016 election. Since these Bulwark, American Spectator inside the beltway type “Republicans” talk only to each other and read each other’s daily tweets they have convinced themselves that Mitt Romney has some kind of pull with the GOP rank in file. In their circle they all hate Trump so they are convinced a significant number of Republicans out there must him as well. I think that’s called projection. Romney has no pull with Republicans – but, hell, these delusional elitists actually believe that, not only he, but Biden too has GOP pull as well. They don’t. — regardless of what Jennifer Rubin and Joe Scarborough tell each other around he MSNBC water cooler.

  35. Skippy says:

    Jason,

    Do you understand tracking polls?

For Klobuchar to move from 9 to 13 in Emerson Poll…for Klobuchar to move up 3 in Suffolk….

It all indicates a huge Saturday for Klobuchar in these polls and we will see another uptick tonight in the Emerson poll in 30 minutes because Klobmentum did not stop on Sunday.

    Brace for impact.

    30 minutes….

    Tick Tock.

    Tick Tock.

    Tick Tock.

  36. Wes says:

Beware what you ask for, for it may come to pass.

We can blame Donald Trump’s equally elitist, out of touch acolytes in talk radio for Romney.

Orrin Hatch was a generally conservative Senator who had been faithful to party orthodoxy for the most past for 42 years. He wasn’t some kind of firebreathing activist though, so talk radio in the form of Limbaugh, Hannity, Beck, and Levin decided Hatch had to go and basically ran him out of town.

That opened the door for Romney to take the seat. Those clowns claimed their scalp and got someone with a personal dislike of Trump in his place.

    Karma’s a bitch.

  37. Skippy says:

Final Night (Sunday Evening) Emerson NH Daily Tracking Poll:

    Sanders 30% (-)
    Buttigieg 23% (+3)
    Klobuchar 14% (+1)
    Warren 11% (-1)
    Biden 10% (-1)

    Bye Warren.
    Bye Biden.

Klobuchar will gradually pick up Biden’s supporters in Nevada.

    Game on!

  38. SanDiegoCitizen says:

30 minutes…. Tick Tock. Tick Tock. Tick Tock.”

    Klobuchar +1

“Klobuchar will gradually pick up Biden’s supporters in Nevada.”

    This is a bit underwhelming.

  39. Skippy says:

Suffolk NH daily tracking poll just released has Klobuchar jumping 5 points in 1 day.

    Sanders 27
    Buttigieg 19

  41. Tina says:

Looks like China Biden is looking at a fifth place finish in NH. He is in trouble.

  42. SanDiegoCitizen says:

Biden’s mental state appears to be noticeably declining. Calling the New Hampshire voter a “lying dog-faced pony solider” was just bizarre.

Perhaps the best thing that could happen for the Democrats would be for the power brokers in Nevada to rally around Klobuchar.

  43. Bitterlaw says:

Romney has been a Republican longer than Trump. This speculation about Romney running as a Democrat is absurd.

  44. Phil says:

After tonight, Biden can expect another dud in Nevada, an underwhelming win in SC (still has the large black SC electorate there) and then will hang around for Super Tuesday for the simple reason that there are three southern primaries that day with large black electorates that enable him to do reasonably well in those states. He won’t do well in the other states that day, however as Bloomberg enters the fray further cutting into his white support.

Biden drops out in late March. Pocahontas drops out about the same time since she does poorly on Super Tuesday.

    Leaves
    – Bernie, Bloomberg, Buttigieg, Klobuchar

Bernie can’t win it all but with the others dividing up the Delegates, Bernie goes into the convention with a small plurality of all delegates. Super delegates come in on the second ballot wiping out the small Sanders lead. Eventually, the establishment coalesces around one of the other three establishment candidates. Bernie and his followers leave the convention furious after being screwed over by the party for the second cycle in a row – creates a huge problem for the Democrats in November. Delicious.

  45. Bitterlaw says:

I am too lazy to see a movie with subtitles so I will not see Parasite. It won Best Picture so it should be pretty good.

  46. Bitterlaw says:

Phil – The white hot hatred of Trump will bring the angry Sanders supporters to the polls in November. Do not count on them staying home or voting third party.

  47. VictrC says:

Bitter – I’m on the fence with your statement. Part of me thinks you’re correct BUT these are millennials and Gen Z. They are very much the “take my ball and go home” generation and I don’t think they would be very excited to vote for, lets say, Bloomberg if he got the nomination. The thought of supporting one of the richest men in the world who bought the nomination after getting to the convention with the most delegates and lots of wins two conventions in a row might be too much for them.

I can see them saying, f you, you deserve Trump, Well get you in 2024.

I could also be very wrong.

  48. Bitterlaw says:

Vic – Sanders will not be a factor or necessarily alive in 2024. His supporters hate Trump. I do not see them giving him a pass to a second term. We disagree.

  49. Phil says:

Most will no doubt show to the polls in November. That’s the way it always plays out. However, if it is the sixty billion dollar man the hard core Bernie supporters aren’t going to flock to the polls for Bloomberg.

  50. SanDiegoCitizen says:

The Democratic Socialists are not going to support anyone else but Sanders, and certainly not Bloomberg. Their platform expressly states they will only support Sanders. From their website:

“BERNIE’S AGENDA WILL TRANSFORM OUR SOCIETY
Bernie Sanders’ campaign is a historic opportunity to bring democratic socialist politics to millions of people. When Bernie says “not me, us,” he’s talking about an urgent political project: building a mass movement of working people that can change society. We’ll start with Medicare for All, a Green New Deal, powerful trade unions, tuition-free college, and an end to mass incarceration – but we won’t stop there.

WE ARE BUILDING A MASS MOVEMENT
Democratic Socialists for Bernie is a national campaign by the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), America’s largest and fastest growing socialist organization, to bring together the “us” that will put Bernie in the White House, and then go on to create the grassroots political pressure needed to transform our economy and politics into a true democracy, where ordinary people have everything they need to live free and flourishing lives.”

  51. Phil says:

How does the California Primary look like it’s going to shake out, San Diego? I understand Bloomberg is looking to saturate the airways with upwards of 75 million there. Can Bernie hang in with him there. California is really looking big.

  52. VictrC says:

Bitter – I dind’t mean to infer Sanders would be around in 2024. Lord knows if he doesn’t win this time its over for him. Still, I think enough of them will be disillusioned enough to stay home, and we just need enough of them in WI, MI and PA to do that (I see that happening with kids in Madison, WI).

Phil – for perspective, Sanders had by far and away the biggest operation in California with 80 field agents. Bloomberg has hired 800! That is not a typo (BTW credit where credit is due I either read that somewhere or here), but verified it.

I agree with SDC. I think that Sanders followers, at least enough of them will say First time shame on me, second time shame on you.

I could be wrong. To quote someone quasi-famous, “sue me”

  53. SanDiegoCitizen says:

    51. Am hearing nothing Phil. Have not seen a candidate yard sign, bumper sticker, or anything else to indicate there is an election coming up soon. Have received no campaign mailers, except for local races. It is very quiet, and I live in a heavily Democratic neighborhood. This place was buzzing with activity in 2018; I knew a lot of people who were actively working to increase the Democratic turnout in 2018. Its night and day difference now, and do not know what it means.

The latest FiveThirtyEight average polling for the California is:

    Sanders 26%
    Biden 20%
    Warren 15%
    Bloomberg 9%
    Buttigieg 8%
    Yang 5%
    Klobucher 4%
    Steyer/Gabbard 3%

My guess would be that Sanders wins, Biden will do badly. Do not believe Warren will do well either. No clue on how the others will do.

  54. SanDiegoCitizen says:

I should get my Democratic ballot this week. As a non-party registered voter, I can vote in the Democratic primary. Skippy’s enthusiasm for Klobuchar has convinced me to vote for her.

  55. Phil says:

Why not vote for Bernie? Sew Chaos.

  56. SanDiegoCitizen says:

55, How did that strategy work out for the Democrats who voted for Trump in the 2016 primaries?

  57. Tgca says:

    46

I strongly disagree. Sanders voters hate Trump for what he represents and they hate all like him. They see him and many like him as destructive to the world. Entitled, rich, not caring about what they believe in. They will not come out in mass for a Bloomberg because to most of them, Bloomie is like Trump, and if Bernie is succeeding and then they swindle the nomination from him, the Dems will have lost his large support base. These are like rowdy kids who don’t like when you take their toys away. They will throw a tantrum and be spiteful. They will not be denied twice!

  58. DW says:

wow, that description of Bernie’s platform in #50 sounds like it came right out of the Bolshevik Revolution. I would like to believe that stuff will scare independents and moderates into voting GOP.

  59. DW says:

Essentially Bernie’s platform is to destroy America’s wealth and transform the country into a place where everyone pretends to work, the government pretends to pay them, and the government pretends to provide for everyone’s needs.

  60. Hugh says:

Bitter will be proven wrong. We need to all remember this thread. Bitters pessimism clouds his judgment and in some cases my optimism clouds mine. However this time I along with most of the rest of those commenting will be proven right. That assumes Bernie is not the nominee

  61. jason says:

“Skippy’s enthusiasm for Klobuchar has convinced me to vote for her.”

    Why?

    I would vote for Sanders.

Klobuchar is dangerous because although she is a flaming liberal, she is pretending to be “moderate” and you really don’t want an opponent that hasn’t been defined yet.

  62. jason says:

Was is the argument? Bitter doesn’t agree that Sander’s voters will stay home if he is not the nominee?

I tend to agree with him that the vast majority will vote for the nominee, except maybe Bloomberg. I don’t even think it’s so much “hatred for Trump” as it is ideology, these people are committed socialists.

On the other hand, Bloomberg might get some indies that will not vote for a socialist but could vote for him.

  63. jason says:

Was is the argument? … What… more coffee.

  64. jason says:

    Karma’s a bitch.”

So in essence this was a Mikey Maneuver, trading the “RINO” Hatch for “Even more RINO” Romney.

Of course NYC is disappointed that they didn’t get a real flaming liberal, but hey, you take what you can get.

  65. polaris_rich says:

Looks like Bernie wins NH, then Biden rolls on super Tuesday and takes the nomination?

  66. SoHope says:

I think Sanders is the best dem to face. There is risk that he becomes president but I prefer the risk to reward. Buttigieg scares me the most followed by Klobuchar Biden Warren then Sanders

  67. jason says:

I don’t regret my support for Romney in 2012, I still think he had the best chance against Obama and he would have made a better President.

However, I am sorry I supported him to run for the Senate in UT. That was a mistake.

  68. jason says:

Not too sure Biden will “roll on super Tuesday”.

  69. DW says:

“roll on super Tuesday” — Honestly when I first read that, I read ‘roll-over’ as in capsize and sink. I blinked, re-read and realized it said Biden would win on Super-Tuesday. I am not sure Biden doesn’t drop out before Super Tuesday, and I am not sure after he finishes 5th tomorrow in NH that he can get a win anywhere.

66 – People forget that in the 1992 Democrat Primary, Bill Clinton was by no means the favorite. He was an afterthought also-ran from a small rural state, and then ended up getting the nomination after the big names flamed out. Buttigieg fits that profile. So I agree with you there.

I tentatively agree with you on Sanders, but wow, it scares me to death…what if Trump goes off the rails in October? Against a stable Republican incumbent, I would welcome Sanders being the opponent. But its a lot of risk with Trump.

  72. jason says:

    Funny how things change…

I thought Biden would be a formidable opponent for Trump, although I always said he had the biggest potential to self destruct.

Now I think Bloomberg and Klobuchar are the most dangerous, still not convinced Mayor Butt could win a GE.

Sorry, Mayor Butt is no Bill Clinton, the only parallel is that they are both unaccomplished nobodies from nowhere. Beyond that, Clinton had no real competition for the Dem nomination, unless you want to call Moonbeam and Tsongas competition. And Clinton brought an important Demographic to to the table, Southern whites, and was able to win not only AK, but LA, GA, TN, KY, WV and MO, none of which will go for Mayor Butt.

  75. jason says:

    LOL

  76. jason says:

Frankly, anytime a candidate calls a voter a lying dog faced pony soldier on national TV, it is “unexpected”.

  77. jason says:

However, if he had called a reporter that, I would give him a pass.

  78. DW says:

“Sorry, Mayor Butt is no Bill Clinton”

Well, I agree…but the point of my comparison was a the time Clinton was battling the other for the nomination, he hadn’t yet accomplished much, except for chasing every other skirt in Arkansas. At least Mayor Buttigieg won’t have that problem.

But I agree that he doesn’t seem to have Clinton’s campaigning skills–and Governor is a bit more advanced than Mayor.

  79. jason says:

tentatively agree with you on Sanders, but wow, it scares me to death…what if Trump goes off the rails in October? ”

He would have to shoot someone on 5th avenue to lose to Sanders, and even then it would have to be a minority.

Homosexuality has come a long way in terms of acceptance, but there are still a lot of people that are not ready for a male President with a husband in the WH.

Of course, I always said the first black President would be a Republican. Now I think the first gay President will also be an R. Maybe I will be wrong again.

She wanted to hear from him a reason to continue to have confidence in him, given all of his advantages, which included not being involved in the impeachment trial. At this point others in the room groaned, and she quickly clarified that she meant as a senator listening to the proceedings like some of the other candidates. So he should have had an advantage in IA compared to others trapped in DC.
At first Biden didn’t seem perturbed by her question, saying in fact it was a good question. But as he started to describe a caucus, he asks her if she has ever been to one. Apparently she must have affirmed that that she had. Biden didn’t believe her and that’s when he called her a lying dog-faced pony soldier. And not to be misunderstood, he re-affirmed that that was the truth.

The takeaway, lost among the dogs, ponies, and soldiers is the fact that Joe didn’t have a good answer for why he did so poorly.

  190. jason says:

Dixville Notch used to produce dozens of Republican votes.”

    LOL

Even in the 2016 GE, there were not “dozens of R votes”

“In 2016, former Secretary of State, Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton won the community’s vote, beating Republican candidate Donald Trump, 4 to 2, with Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson receiving one vote, and Mitt Romney receiving a single write-in vote. Eight people voted in total.

  191. jason says:

  192. CG says:

Well, no R ever got dozens of votes in a primary in Dixville Notch at least not after 1960.

  196. jason says:

Of course, with 12 residents, it is difficult to get dozens of votes.

Two things sad about the fact some Dems say this will doom Bloomberg’s candidacy.

    1) First, he was right.
    2) You can’t say this ad survive among Democrats.

“Ninety-five percent of murders—murderers and murder victims—fit one M.O. You can just take a description, Xerox it, and pass it out to all the cops,” he said during a speech to the Aspen Institute. “They are male, minorities, 16-25. That’s true in New York, that’s true in virtually every city (inaudible). And that’s where the real crime is. You’ve got to get the guns out of the hands of people that are getting killed.”

The solution, he argued, was to put more police in urban neighborhoods where crime is highest.

“So one of the unintended consequences is people say, ‘Oh my God, you are arresting kids for marijuana that are all minorities.’ Yes, that’s true. Why? Because we put all the cops in minority neighborhoods,” Bloomberg said. “Yes, that’s true. Why do we do it? Because that’s where all the crime is. And the way you get the guns out of the kids’ hands is to throw them up against the wall and frisk them… And then they start… ‘Oh I don’t want to get caught.’ So they don’t bring the gun. They still have a gun, but they leave it at home.”

“At the time of writing, #BloombergIsRacist was trending on Twitter. “

Scumbag Romney gets the praise he so much wanted… from Democrats. Just as I predicted, btw.

Only Romney, out of the hundreds of other Republicans on Capitol Hill, could see the truth of Trump’s crimes and now he’d pay a price.

Yeah, well except that was always nonsense. Instead, Romney got treated like a mix of Ghandi and the Pope. He lined up three separate interviews with friendly voices, each praising his unmatched courage. Then he sent a preaching, condescending letter to his colleagues letting them all know how great he is and how unprincipled they are. The mainstream media swooned and pronounced him forgiven for his past transgressions of being a nasty old Republican.”…

He is being cheered at Bernie Sanders and Klobuchar and Warren rallies.

Scumbag Romney has finally “made it”.

  219. dblaikie says:

With Biden’s implosion and the Bloomberg tape coming out Amy K is going to end up being the “centrist” candidate. Mayor Pete is not a serious choice. But here is my prediction. Since the dem primaries hand out delegates proportionally there is a good chance that there is no winner on the first ballot. If that happens the 800 super delegates are freed to vote on the second ballot. Then the establishment of the party will be in a position to choose anyone. In other words if Bernie doesn’t win on the first ballot he is screwed.

  220. Phil says:

Bloomberg’s entry into the race has guaranteed a second ballot at least. Really keeps Democratic Bernie vote divided up.

  221. DW says:

Simply put, the Dems are on the cusp of being trapped on the horns of an awful dilemma.

    1) Allow Sanders to get the nomination and watch helplessly as moderates and independents get scared to death and stampede into the Trump camp, likely bringing with them house and senate coattails, while the Dems only run up the score in deep blue house districts.

    2) Deny Sanders the nomination for the second time in a row, and risk his base sitting home allowing the Dem candidate to go down in flames.

Famous quip from Moe Howard, as he comes to the aid of a woman sitting in a convertible off the road and stuck in a ditch. She says to him, “oh will you please help me, I’m in a dilemma.” Moe: “Looks like an Oldsmobile to me.”

“Oregon has pumped its own gas for a few years now.”

Oregon changed its law in 2018 to allow individuals to pump their own gas in counties with a population of 40,000 or less. It only applies in some rural counties in eastern Oregon, and in three small coastal counties. In Portland, smaller cities, and all along the I-5 corridor, a gas station attendant has to pump your gas. I drive thorugh Oregon twice a year; if a station is busy it can slow down things.

  237. NYCmike says:

    sdc,

If you get out and pump your own, what happens?

  238. SanDiegoCitizen says:

    218. “And the way you get the guns out of the kid’s hands is to throw them up against the walls and frisk them. And they start, “Oh, I don’t want to get caught.” So they don’t bring the gun. They still have a gun. But they leave it at home.”

Bloomberg was right. It was the basis of the “stop and frisk” policy, which resulted in a major reduction in crime. Almost 70% of gun-related homocides are young African-American males, who make up less than 5% of the population. They were being slaughtered in gang and narcotics-related shootings. Bloomberg and Guiliani were right to advocate for stop and frisk to address the problem. Trump supported them as well — and several years ago advocated that stop and frisk be resumed.

  239. SanDiegoCitizen says:

    244. The attendant won’t allow you to do it. The station would be fined if it allowed a customer to self-pump. There is a bill in Oregon to permit a certain number of pumps in a gas station to be self-serve. It likely will not pass.

One thing I can say in favor of the practice is that it provides a job to a lot of people who might not have skills to get other employment.

  240. NYCmike says:

” Bloomberg and Guiliani were right to advocate for stop and frisk to address the problem.”

-Small correction – let’s give proper credit to each individual:

“Guiliani, and then Bloomberg, were right to advocate for stop and frisk to address the problem.”

AND, of course they were correct to use this policy, but as with all things, it ended up being used too much, although I can’t fault the police too much. Unfortunately, the majority of the population who live in the communities best served by these policies is still apprehensive about being seen as outwardly supportive of the police.

  241. SanDiegoCitizen says:

Whenever Trump is able to successfully comes out of a controversy, you can count on him jumping into a new one.

“Trump pounced on the audio in an all-caps tweet Tuesday morning.
“WOW, BLOOMBERG IS A TOTAL RACIST!” the president wrote in a reply to the audio clip.
But Trump, who himself has been accused of racism and has praised stop and frisk during his presidency, appears to have deleted that tweet soon after it was posted.”

I also do not believe individuals should be sent to prision to serve long-terms for drug related crimes — so was a strong supporter of Trump’s criminal justice reforms. Stop and frisk was a tool to take guns away from trouble youth, and saved lives, but the underlying social problems remained.

    Surprise

In a new bombshell report, The Washington Post reveals a massive covert operation which was ‘hidden in plain sight’ that seems straight out of Confessions of an Economic Hitman — it’s yet more ‘conspiracy theory’ of the past now definitively proven conspiracy fact.
For the past decades, the CIA owned and operated a front company based in Switzerland for the purpose of spying on secret government communications across the globe, whether they were allies or adversaries. This according to newly unearthed 280-pages of an internal CIA history of the operation obtained by the Post along with Swiss public broadcaster SRF and German broadcaster ZDF.
Crypto AG, a Switzerland-based communications encryption firm, was secretly purchased by the CIA and West German intelligence services in 1971. The company not only made millions by selling encryption equipment to over 120 countries into the 21st century, but used the very same equipment to infiltrate each host country’s communications in a ‘Trojan Horse’ style operation.
Among notable clients, the report lists Iran, India, Pakistan, Iraq, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, Syria, and even the Vatican — all which were duped into purchasing the ‘backdoor’ spy hardware in a scenario which sounds a lot like what Washington is now accusing China’s Huawei of doing. The global CIA surveillance operation was dubbed “Operation Rubicon”.
Ironically, while host governments thought Crypto AG’s devices were securing messages users thought were encrypted, the reality was the opposite, and allowed the CIA to gather the most sensitive internal messages from governments across the world.
“It was the intelligence coup of the century,” one CIA document obtained by the Post reads. And it continues:

Sounds like an excellent and highly effective CIA operation, Bunu, thanks for sharing.

  282. mRviTO says:

The CIA has front organizations all over the place, including the media… it comes straight out of declassified documents. Buyer beware.

  283. mRviTO says:

Actually, Trump didn’t win any of these little locations in the 2016 primary, despite winning the vast majority statewide.

Kasich won two and Cruz won Millsfield which appears to be heavily GOP.

It appears Dixvile lost basically all its GOP voters. There were 4 in the D primary in 2016 and 4 in 2020. Trump got 2 votes out of Dixville in both 2016 primary and general… the other 3 were Kasich supporters.

  284. Chicon says:

Jussie Smollett has been indicted on six counts in Chicago by a special prosecutor who was appointed after the state’s attorney dropped charges several months ago.

I am sure Bunu supports the intelligence gathering capabilities of the CIA.

    I certainly do.

  286. jason says:

Maybe they can indict the rogue prosecutor too. Foxx.

  287. SanDiegoCitizen says:

    289. What is the surprise? You should be proud the CIA is an effective organization protecting your safety.

You realize other countries are doing it too; and that Google collects an amazing amount of information about — including tracking where you go and what you do every day.

CIA is one of the worst government organizations we have.

  292. jason says:

Normally I would say those demographics would be good for Biden, not Sanders.

  293. jason says:

CIA is one of the most important government organizations we have.

Fixed it for America hating, terrorist loving Bunu.

  294. jason says:

But those 13% are probably Trump trolls voting for Sanders.

  295. jason says:

I think Klobuchar will come in third. But the contests coming up don’t look very good for her. She could end up being a viable VP candidate however.

  296. jason says:

Rumors that the exits showed Sanders with a double digit lead, Mayor Butt solidly in second, Klobuchar in third, Biden ahead of Warren for 4th.
