Biden Within 3% of Trump in UT, Leads Trump By 24% in MD

Donald Trump’s lead in Utah is down to a mere 3% in a new poll from UtahPolicy.com and KUTV done by Y2 Analytics.

    PRESIDENT – UTAH (UtahPolicy.com)
    Donald Trump (R-inc) 44%
    Joe Biden (D) 41%

This poll was done May 9-15 among 1099 likely voters. Meanwhile in my home state of Maryland, no surprise that Joe Biden should win easily in November as shown in this latest poll from Gonzales Research.

    PRESIDENT- MARYLAND (Gonzales)
    Joe Biden (D) 59%
    Donald Trump (R-inc) 35%

This poll was done May 19-23 among 810 likely voters.

“Since the inception of this insanity, the following regulations, rules or consequences have occurred: I won’t get COVID if I get an abortion but I will get COVID if I get a colonoscopy. Selling pot is essential but selling goods and services at a family-owned business is not. Pot wasn’t even legal and pot dispensaries didn’t even exist in this state until five months ago and, in that five months, they have become essential but a family-owned business in existence for five generations is not.

A family of six can pile in their car and drive to Carlyle Lake without contracting COVID but, if they all get in the same boat, they will. We are told that kids rarely contract the virus and sunlight kills it, but summer youth programs, sports programs are cancelled. Four people can drive to the golf course and not get COVID but, if they play in a foursome, they will. If I go to Walmart, I won’t get COVID but, if I go to church, I will. Murderers are released from custody while small business owners are threatened with arrest if they have the audacity to attempt to feed their families.”

LOL. Do you know what Fauci’s political affiliation is?

I said Tgca’s sophomoric and childish attacks on Fauci were based on cheap partisan motives. Every single one of them.

      GFY.

I think my fellow A-hole explained it best

“Tgca thinks Trump can do no wrong. Trump relied upon Fauci. Tgca just can’t wrap his expert brain around this.”

At the end of the day, what matters is that Trump relies on and trusts Fauci. Even if he once praised Hillary or shook hands with a Democrat.

    12. VictrC says:

So on queue, CNN releases an article that states that there cases are rising in 18 states because of opening, and cites, GA, FL and Arkansas, making the claim that the Arkansas gov is stating they are in a second wave because of opening up

They make no distinction that cases are up marginally in some places (Texas from 800 to about 950) because of increased testing.

In CA, the only “surge” is in LA county… where people are far less apt to follow regulations than the red states they claim are failing to wear masks.

Then HuffPo releases a story saying Trump lied about the budget being left bare by Obama because Trump requested budget cuts to the pandemic team. If the cupboards were bare then why request a cut, therefore Trump felt Obama was prepared and Trump swept the cupboard clean.

You can’t make this up, and this is what the country is up against. They can not bear to see this country back to work and succeed.

If you want to restart the debate, feel free to do so. You provide no evidence I am strongly critical of Fauci because of his politics. None! Zilch! Nada!

You and Bitter accusing others of infantile debates is rich, as you both often get into long back and forth debates with others that some of us otherwise roll our eyes at. This is not a “ do as I say not do as I do” site. Practice what you preach!

Quoting Bitter as your support is useless, and proves nothing, as I can then post folks who disagree with you on Fauci as well. What does that prove? My momma said I’m the prettiest girl in school so there! That is in essence your support argument.

For the record, as stated numerous times, I believe most scientific professionals Trump would look to for advice would probably be a Clinton supporter and I see no wrong in that just as many religious leaders he would seek guidance from would be conservative. It’s the way the world works.

      Let’s stick to the facts!

Provide the evidence or let the debate go. Otherwise, I will set time aside later this week and go through the archives and sequentially repost every comment I ever made about Fauci with dates and times to prove you were wrong in your conclusion, that could then be audited by all here to prove you were wrong in your assertion.

I still believe you confused me with others and just assumed my criticism of Fauci was political when it was not. It has always been about his lack of due diligence early on much of which is now being reported in various media articles, and I suspect more so in the future as the governors look for cover to place blame over their decisions to shut down and destroy their economies.

      You decide!

    21. SanDiegoCitizen says:

I would take the Utah “poll” with a grain of salt. UtahPolicy.com surveys an internet panel they select, and then pretends it is a legitimate poll. They have a progressive agenda, and use their polling to claim that the Utah public supports it.

If you want to see through the survey, note that it found that:
      +93% of the strong Republicans supported Trump;
      +55% of the moderate Republicans supported Trump;
+66% of the Independents who lean Republican suported Trump
These three catagories contain over 2/3 of Utah voters.

Last month a Deseret News/Hinckley Institute poll showed Trump with a 51% to 32% lead over Biden, with 8% support someone else.

Comparing a vacancy on SCOTUS, with nine members, and the Senate, with a 100 is REALLY dumb. Not to mention one is an appointed office, the other elected.

You wanted McCain to resign for purely partisan reasons, same as Tgca with his silly and dishonest Fauci rants. You weren’t concerned about his health, let’s get real. And fortunately, McCain did what his constituents elected him to do, and stayed in office.

Regarding RBG, who has no mandate from constituents to stay in office, if she is too sick to perform her duties she should resign, because SCOTUS is not really set up for 8 members.

In hindsight, she was not as sick as I thought she was because she is still there. And yes, I am consistent, because if a conservative justice is not up to performing his/her duties, I think he/she should resign too.

Karsten Nordal Hauken, who describes himself as feminist and anti-racist, was sexually attacked five years ago.

He said that although the incident caused a spiral of depression and substance abuse, he felt bad about the fact the man had been deported to Somalia when he had already served his prison sentence.

Writing for Norwegian broadcaster NRK, Mr Hauken also said he wanted to break the taboo over male rape.”

Chicon, your post is so full of falsehoods, hard to see where to start.

RBG was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, about as hard to beat as McCain’s brain cancer. She has also been diagnosed with colorectal cancer and lung cancer. She has been hospitalized several times for complications, so “out for a few days with no indication of permanent” is a stretch.

She is still alive so it looks like she beat pancreatic cancer, with a 5 year survival rate of 7%.

Somehow pretending that resignation is a far fetched idea for someone with this many health problems is idiotic.

As for McCain, he had no reason to resign. He was duly elected, and there is a long history of other senators that were ill in office. The Senate could function perfectly without him, which is not the case with SCOTUS.

Ted Kennedy was one of them. Did you call for his resignation, he went 6 months without casting a vote? Of course you didn’t, because you are a hypocrite.

      Jason, a couple questions…

When did RBG receive her pancreatic cancer diagnosis? 2009. You were playing internet doctor in 2019.

Was that the reason she missed a few days? No. She had cancerous nodules removed from a lung after a fall which broke three ribs. Dr. Jason made a poor diagnosis on RBG. Meanwhile, at the time I suggested McCain give up his seat, he was well into the teeth of a glioblastoma and likely knew he was never coming back to DC.

Did Ted have a reputation as a stand-up guy who put country ahead of personal? Nope, he was a pig.

Did McCain have that lofty reputation? Yep. That’s why I expected him to give up his seat when he realized he wasn’t going back. Had he done so, you would’ve been among the 1st to call him a hero for doing so.

Meanwhile, Google locates its data centers in locations where the actual energy used is generated by coal, and other fossil fuels, because it is cheaper. Add this to Google’s collusion with the Chinese despots. Google might be the most sleazy company in the U.S.

      BS.

      – In January, he said coronavirus posed no risk to the US. In March, he said we must close the entire economy to contain an uncontrolled spread in the US.

On March 8, he told CBS 60 Minutes wearing masks was not needed. Now, he says everyone should wear a mask.

In April, he repeatedly warned there would be a second wave in the Fall. Now, he suggests maybe not.

He said coronavirus could be spread by touching surfaces. Now, the CDC says coronavirus doesn’t spread very easily on surfaces.

He said in March there was no evidence that sunlight (UV rays) or seasonality played a role in the spread of coronavirus. Now, he says otherwise.

Fauci told the Senate two weeks ago, he doesn’t offer economic advice. In he first week of April he said the shutdown was a minor economic inconvenience. Late last week, he said we can’t keep the economy shutdown forever.

    179. jason says:

Yep, really stupid, but watch someone here rise to the occasion and defend him on it.

    180. jason says:

In January, he said coronavirus posed no risk to the US. In March, he said we must close the entire economy to contain an uncontrolled spread in the US

Zzzzz….so did every other expert in every country because that was the information available. He was certainly right that we needed a lockdown.

On March 8, he told CBS 60 Minutes wearing masks was not needed. Now, he says everyone should wear a mask.

In April, he repeatedly warned there would be a second wave in the Fall. Now, he suggests maybe not.

Zzzzzzzz…..we still don’t know, he is certainly right we need to prepare for that possibility.

He said coronavirus could be spread by touching surfaces. Now, the CDC says coronavirus doesn’t spread very easily on surfaces.

Zzzzzzz….. it DOES spread on surfaces, so he was right to warn about it. We are still learning exactly how it spreads, so this accusation is really bogus.

He said in March there was no evidence that sunlight (UV rays) or seasonality played a role in the spread of coronavirus. Now, he says otherwise.

Again, this is why we call it a NOVEL virus. Not everything is known, and that is not Fauci’s fault.

Fauci told the Senate two weeks ago, he doesn’t offer economic advice. In he first week of April he said the shutdown was a minor economic inconvenience. Late last week, he said we can’t keep the economy shutdown forever.”

Show me where he said shutdowns were minor inconveniences, I bet that is taken out of context. And yes, he has been clear from the beginning that you can’t have a shutdown forever, nothing new.

Like all Fauci critics, you want to have it both ways. Attack him because of a perceived error, and then attack him if he corrects a perceived error.

    181. jason says:

On March 8, he told CBS 60 Minutes wearing masks was not needed. Now, he says everyone should wear a mask.”

Forgot that one. Another simplistic and bogus criticism. What he said was that masks don’t protect you from the virus. The recommendation to wear masks is in order to protect OTHERS from contagion in the even you may be spreading the virus as an asymptomatic carrier or a carrier who has not yet developed symptoms.

    182. Robbie says:

My point with Fauci is let’s not treat him as the only voice on the topic. Yet, he’s the only voice the press treats as an authority on the topic. Like it or not, his words are treated as something approaching the gospel truth by many people.

    183. jason says:

“Fauci told the Senate two weeks ago, he doesn’t offer economic advice”

    186. jason says:

    248. dblaikie says:

In the last three years there have been times when I thought that Trump was cooked because of his tweets. But somehow his expected demise never happens which is good with me. In fact in hindsight I have a small inkling of what the purpose of these brutal and crass tweets are.

You go back to the days of Speaker Tom Foley who when George Bush Sr. was accused in flying in plane and meeting with the Iranians concerning Iran Contra. There was no concrete evidence for this charge. But old Foley said, “Due to the seriousness of the charge we have to investigate.” That basic line has been used by Dems over and over again.

Trump’s tweet turns that over on its head. Notice he never says that he believes it — like when he showed the picture of Cruz’s dad with Castro. But he says, “you need to check it out.” He says the same thing about Joe S. “I don’t know if this true or not, but it is out there, and you should check it out!” And now because of that Joe Scarborough has to deal with this story. Talk about counter-punching!

He looks crass in doing it. Heck he is a crass New York business man. No he doesn’t play by the “Marquis of Queens bury rules.” But he forces stuff out there. Don’t know if it is true or not, but due to the seriousness of the charge you need to investigate.”

The lesson is clear. I you hit Trump, he will hit you back with everything he has.

I am sure Jadon knows that to become an actuary, employed by insurance companies, usually requires passing a series of math and statistical exams, and often math majors are employed in actuarial firms due to the mathematics required in insurance that people like Jadon can’t do. Most math majors who pursue this track pass the 1st few exams based on their mathematical educational training but since Jadon never made it past long division, perhaps he does not know this or actually know anything about math…or anything else…except how to deflect when he is always proven wrong by folks here.

BUT, to say people “are against legal immigration” is pure mainstream-media-like bullsh*t.

If you don’t think that temporary changes should be made to immigration policies when there are over 30 million American citizens unemployed, you are Wuhan-batsh*t-Pogo Loco-traveling-CRAZY!

Legal immigration can never be decreased, EVER. FOR NO REASON.

Of course, when you say a number, Democrats will say you are a xenophobe and racist for restricting immigration.

Let’s say a treatment that cures coronavirus is announced tomorrow. Does anyone think the governors across the country will end any of their restrictions? Ha! Of course, the answer is no. They’ll come up with some excuse to keep them in place. They’ve found they can control every aspect of our lives and they aren’t going to give up these social distancing rules without a fight.

The same goes for a vaccine. If all 330 million are vaccinated by January 1, governors will still say the social distancing measures need to stay in place until the entire world (all 7.7 billion) are vaccinated.

We opened Pnadora’s box when we instituted the lockdown and put the doctors in charge. I think there’s an extremely high likelihood we never get all of the rights we had on March 1 back. Beshear said last week a vaccine isn’t the end. It’s just a major step towards receovery.

A massive “Trumptilla” boat parade took place in Newport Beach over Memorial Day:

“The event, with everything from kayaks to 80-foot multi-million dollar powerboats, began at the Newport Harbor Anchorage and proceeded to both ends of the harbor. In some places, boaters were sailing four craft-wide.
“It was a massive amount of boats,” Orange County Sheriff’s Lt. Chris Corn said. “Initially, it was a bit chaotic and no one knew which way to go, but then one boat started and all of a sudden, they all fell into line.
“It was so big that the parade was still coming around the east end of Lido Island, and the front was at Bay Island,” Corn said.
The majority of boaters had pro-Trump flags, but all boats had displays of the American flag.
“I’ve never seen anything like it in my 10 years here,” Corn said.
In addition to the boaters, many people cheered from local beaches and residential docks.
A local yacht club estimated that nearly 1,000 boats were involved. Corn said his deputies thought it could have been between 350 and 400, and Newport Beach officials said their Harbor Department put the count at about 400.”

First-time jobless claims totaled 2.1 million last week, slightly ahead of the 2.05 million Wall Street estimate.
Continuing claims plunged by nearly 4 million to just over 21 million, probably a clearer representation of the jobless level.

“Layoffs continue at a massive scale, according to the latest unemployment insurance report, but it may be that the job market is nearing a turning point,” said Gus Faucher, chief economist at PNC.

The four-week moving average, which helps smooth out weekly volatility, rose to 22.72 million, an increase of 760,250 from the previous week.

Since the pandemic was declared in mid-March, 40.8 million have filed claims as social distancing measures aimed at containing the coronavirus outbreak resulted in much of the $21.5 trillion U.S. economy being in lockdown for 2½ months.

    405. Tina says:

Before he died after being pinned for minutes beneath a Minneapolis police officer’s knee, George Floyd was suffering the same fate as millions of Americans during the coronavirus pandemic: out of work and looking for a new job.

Floyd moved to Minneapolis from his native Houston several years ago in hopes of finding work and starting a new life, said Christopher Harris, Floyd’s lifelong friend. But he lost his job as a bouncer at a restaurant when Minnesota’s governor issued a stay-at-home order.

On Monday night, an employee at a Minneapolis grocery store called police after Floyd allegedly tried to pass a counterfeit $20 bill.

      – Bevin spent four years being a jerk and it caught up with him. Trump should beware the fate of Bevin. Most importantly, he picked a fight with teachers six months before election day. They stormed the capital and shutdown schools in April and May 2019. The union mobilized against him and it was just enough. I then asked you for a list of all of the sitting Senators who chose to run for President but FAILED, as the 2 numbers would give a better representation of the success rate for those individuals. As far as I have seen, you don’t have that number available.

    480. Robbie says:

I think we’re starting to see the first signs of society boiling over after three months of soul crushing lockdowns. The riots in Minneapolis last night were the type have haven’t seen in a long while. And just this afternoon, I watched a video of a Maryland mayor get repeatedly heckled and jeered by residents over his painfully slow reopening plan. My guess is we’re going to see a Summer full of this.

For a couple of months, many people ridiculously treated the lockdown as an extended vacation and their jobs would miraculously be there when the shutdown ended. Now, many people are finding that won’t be the case. Bills haven’t been paid and reopening plans are moving slower than a glacier.

The economic pain is really starting to hit home. A $1200 check and enhanced unemployment are fine, but they only go so far and most are now realizing this. On top of that, I read one of Massachusetts’s largest daycare providers won’t reopen. Talk about pain for parents hoping to return to work.

This is an issue Trump needs to get ahead of ASAP. Attacking blue state governors for stifling and ruining people’s lives could be a powerful rallying cry, at least for the base and sympathetic Independents. If Trump gets out in front of this boiling over, it could be a benefit. If not, a Summer of riots and civil disobedience could be as destructive to him as it was to Democrats in 1968.

Jason, It’s just been state figures as reported by the county reported yesterday and today – hasn’t been anything in the local paper yet. My guess is perhaps they had a mass testing of prisoners all at one time and we are just now getting the results all at once. There are 17 prison units with 30K prisoners here. Something similar happened in Potter County (Amarillo at a meet packing plant) and there was a sudden one day spike of 750 cases there. Anyway, the numbers from Walker County over the last two days have inflated the state numbers about 15-20 percent. It will be interesting to see what the county numbers look like tomorrow and if they shrink back down to normal.

If you start allowing the government to censor social media, your going to find out what it is like to live in China. Do you really believe the leftists, when they come to power again, won’t use government censorship to silence conservative voices? And they could claim Trump gave them the power to do so. I’m trying to imagine what would happen to a mob that tried to pull that in my state.

      I can’t.

    567. Robbie says:

We’re headed for a long, hot Summer if this week is any indication. For the first time in my living memory, there was a major riot/protest in Louisville last night where I live. Seven people were shot and the gunshots were heard on live TV. The protest was about a young black woman who was killed during a no-knock police raid. This happened at the same time as the terrible scenes from Minneapolis.

Expect more of this. The lockdowns have done tremendous damage to the psyche of the country. Indefinite lockdowns are finally starting to break the will of many. Frustrations is on the raise; anger is on the rise; hopelessness is on the rise. Throw in racial riots and you have the perfect recipe for a tinder box.

This is no longer a political issue in my mind. It’s a cultural and societal issue. The lockdowns and unemployment are tearing deeply at the fabric of society and there’s not going to be a quick fix. A vaccine/treatment may allow a lot ofnormality to return, but joblessness is not a new normal those without a job will accept.

The rise of Tea Party was fundamentally a political movement. What we’re about to see is a cultural and societal crisis. So while it may feel good to apply more traditional political talking points, I don’t know how well it will work. And I don’t think saying “when thee looting starts, the shooting starts” helps things at all.

The Breonna Taylor shooting happened in March.

      – Yes, but the story didn’t become widely known and reported on by the local press until the last 10 days or so. Obviously, the rioters used what happened in Minneapolis as a reason to start protesting, but none of what we’ve seen bodes well for the Summer.

    573. Tina says:

      Yes, there was looting.

A target store, a auto store, etc.

Then more looting (police station #3)

And then shooting. Residences complaineed of gun shots and tear gas all night. They live blocks away from the police station that burned,

Looting does lead to shooting. See L.A. 1992

    574. Tina says:

      Remember Korea Town 1992 L.A.

      What happened to the looters?

Why there needs to be curfews and arrests for violations.

      As will this one.

The last Mn investigation into the police took 8 months.

This was the Somali-American police officer that killed an Australian lady.

    576. Phil says:

Unfortunately, there is an element which seems to be getting bigger and bigger in this country which views tragedies such as this as an opportunity – an opportunity to burn, loot, and destroy. Head for your local Target. Free TVs, athletic shoes, and everything else under the sun. And of course the usual race hustlers come out of the woodwork….

It would be helpful if charges were filed sooner rather than later. Beyond that, it just a matter of this playing itself out. It did so with the MLK riots in 1968 and it will happen again this time.

    577. Tina says:

The George Floyd case is pretty clear though.

Conservatives haven’t been able to start a meaningful social media platform for a number of reasons, including:

      1. It costs in multiples of 7-10x to be a trailer. First in an industry gives you advantages. To create a meaningful social media platform for conservatives would be extremely expensive.

      2. The target audience which drives revenue for a social media platform does not lend itself to conservatives. The desired 18-49 bracket tends to be more liberal on the younger end, and therefore they would not be attracted to it. Users would definitely skew older, and well…more Trump leaning.

      3. You would limit your users by just having a conservative outlet. Conservatives, like it or not, use facebook, twitter, etc. Now…if there was an alternative and they used it, would that mean they would abandon use on facebook, twitter etc? That’s the million dollar question because it could be that this affects user(ship) on those platforms which could hurt them.

    648. NYCmike says:

      #709 – VictrC,

Didn’t the social media honchos go before federal committees and say they were not editors, but publishers, or something to that affect, which would give them less liability but also less discretion over what is written?

Does their testimony before those committees matter at all in these discussions?

The data has been calculated by Statista based on the U.S. Census data and Simmons National Consumer Survey (NHCS). According to this statistic, 266.55 million Americans consumed bacon in 2019. This figure was projected to increase to 275.13 million in 2023.”

    667. jason says:

      Bacon rules!

“Consumers’ love affair with bacon shows no sign of stopping. Whether smoked, boiled, fried, baked, grilled or used as a flavoring, bacon is justifying its continuing appeal with unit sales of 1.47 billion and dollar sales of $6.56 billion.

Sales of refrigerator bacon reached $4.4 billion, up 3.5 percent, with US retailers for the year ending July 9, according to IRI, a Chicago-based market research firm. Deli bacon sales remain strong with 42.4 percent in dollar sales and 16.7 percent in volume, according to Nielsen’s calculations for the 52 weeks ending July 21.

Considered a $55.76 billion market in 2016, bacon is projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) from 2018 to 2023, according to Mordor Intelligence’s Global Bacon Market Growth, Trends and Forecasts 2018-2023. Bacon’s staying power benefits from its infiltration of multiple eating occasions including protein-rich breakfast sandwiches and burgers for lunch and dinner as well as a flavor enhancer in cocktails and desserts.

The protein’s savory profile has also established a peripheral foothold, flavoring everything from vodka, chocolate and donuts to popcorn, ice cream and lip balm, which IRI calls a second life in a secondary product. Outside the home, an estimated 62 percent of US restaurants feature bacon on the menu, including traditional bacon, “healthier” turkey bacon, Canadian bacon and charcuterie friendly pancetta.”

The following paragraphs Wikipedia sums him up pretty good! (no mention of “Grandstanding Ted” either):

“Dewhurst and Patrick faced each other in the May 27 runoff election for lieutenant governor. The winner would eventually run in the general election against Democratic State Senator Leticia Van de Putte of San Antonio, who is the Democratic nominee for the lieutenant governorship. During the runoff, Dewhurst released a disco-themed advertisement Lt. Gov. You’ve Gotta Love and a parody of Let It Go from the Disney film Frozen. On May 27, 2014, Patrick easily defeated Dewhurst in a landslide: 65% to 35%.[29]

Patrick said after state Senator Wendy Davis of Fort Worth (who was the Democratic nominee for governor) filibustered the bill to ban late-term abortions in Texas that Dewhurst has “lost his grip on the reins of the Senate”. Patrick called for new leadership in the chamber.”
