Biden Leads Trump By 2% in MO

Could Donald Trump lose in Missouri? A new poll from the left-leaning Garin-Hart-Yang Research Group paid for by the Democratic candidate for Governor in Missouri is suggesting that.

    PRESIDENT – MISSOURI (GHYRG)
    Joe Biden (D) 48%
    Donald Trump (R-inc) 46%

    GOVERNOR – MISSOURI (GHYRG)
    Mike Parson (R-inc) 47%
    Nicole Galloway (D) 40%

This poll was done June 16-22 among 800 likely voters.

I think Trump has already turned the corner on polling.

I expect him to start rebounding as people get more comfortable with questioning the Democrats agenda.

The DNC statement on Mt. Rushmore was appalling.

    11. Robbie says:

The numbers in Arizona the last two days have been a bit confusing. The state officially only reported a little more than 600 cases yesterday, but Worldometers included cases added later in the day for a total of 3,079. Today, the state officially reported more than 4,800 cases, but that number included the cases Worldometer included in yesterday’s total. They show Arizona with 2,228 new cases today.

Also, North Carolina is looking better and better. They reported 936 cases today, but that’s down from the 1,500 to 1,700 cases they’ve been reporting the last week. There’s been a gradual ramp up in cases in the state, but it appears to have started around the end of May. If they’re in decline, it matches what we saw in other states where it took around six weeks from the begin of the increase to reach the peak.

Well once again the fatalities will be far lower today than they were last Tuesday. This downward trend is undeniable. Just look at the chart! Further the median time between exposure and symptoms is 5 days. We are way past that now. But no one wants to talk about it. It runs counter to the narrative that we are in grave danger.

Let me just ask what would it mean if we had a huge spike in cases but a continued low fatality rate? I tell you what it would mean — going towards herd immunity! But no one wants to talk about that. No one to put a chart up of the clear decline in fatalities in front of Dr. Fauci ask him what it means in the face of rising cases. The media doesn’t want that. I am beginning to wonder if the health experts want to cover that. Yet someone needs too. Where is the brave politician who will stand up and say that with a dramatic decline in fatalities even in face of opening up and mass protests, America is defeating the terrible sting of this virus!!!!

    40. UgandanAttorney says:

The Pew poll actually does somewhat suggest a rebound.

Biden is leading 52-46 in the battleground states defined as NC, PA, MI, FL, AZ, and WI.

Biden leads 62-36 in blue/lean blue states while Trump leads just 52-45 in red/lean red states.

That points to a significant gap between the popular vote and the tipping point states. Trump is an unusually weak candidate for deep red states and deep blue states but maintains support and potential in the states that matter.

Biden may very well cut 10-15% off Trump’s margin in deep red states and add 5% on Clinton’s margin in blue states and net zero electoral college votes for his efforts.

      – I’m not concerned whether Trump wins or loses. I’m concerned about the potential impact a large loss by him might have on down ballot races. If Trump does lose, we need as many Republicans in Congress as possible to either maintain the filibuster or defeat his proposals.

Honestly, are we supposed to ignore the polls? Would we be doing that if they showed Trump ahead by 8 or more nationally? I doubt it. We’d be talking about how Biden’s cooked.

    43. Stonewall DW says:

“Honestly, are we supposed to ignore the polls?”

      Uhm, yes.

In 2016 the polls had Hillary winning going away all through the summer. On election night, she decided to cancel the fireworks so as to not jinx what the polls all said was going to happen. All the polls that is but for the Trafalgar Group.

      Now THERE is an understatement.

But it is a really asinine one for someone who is supposedly “concerned” about down ballot.

Any moron knows that if Trump wins, it is unlikely that there will be losses down ballot.

So Robbie should want Trump to win if that really was his concern.

      But of course, it isn’t.

    48. jason says:

Would I rather Trump be leading in the PEW poll by 6 rather than losing by 6 in the states that will decide the election?

      Yes.

Do I think a 6 point lead in battleground states is significant at this point?

      No.

    49. Robbie says:

      jason says:

Any moron knows that if Trump wins, it is unlikely that there will be losses down ballot.

So Robbie should want Trump to win if that really was his concern.

      But of course, it isn’t.

      – At this point, I don’t think Trump’s likely to win. A month ago, before the rioting and everything else I thought he had a chance so long as he didn’t fall too far behind over the Summer. I think Trump’s in the process of falling too far behind. I suppose things could always change, but that would require some discipline from him and he hasn’t shown it yet.

Trump’s an incumbent president polling at just 40.2 at RCP in the H2H matchups with just four months to go. He’s an incumbent president with a job approval rating of 41.2 at RCP with just four months to go until election day. No president in a two person race can win with those kinds of numbers.

So if I think Trump’s probably going to lose, I think we’re close to a time where we need to figure out how to prevent down ballot carnage.

    50. Tina says:

      I am not concerned,

“Honestly, are we supposed to ignore the polls?”

      Uhm, yes.

      – Did this work in 2018? Poll after poll showed Republicans were headed for a big loss in the House in 2018 and few here wanted to believe them. In the end, the generic ballot polls were right. They predicted Democrats by 7.3 and the final result was Democrats by 8.4.

And in 2016, the national polls were far closer than most seem to remember. The RCP 2016 average that polled Trump, Clinton, Johnson, and Stein showed Clinton with a 3.3 point lead and she won by 2.1. The state polling in certain states wasn’t good, but the national polling was and that’s what we’re using right now.

If the state polling starts to show a divergence from the national polls, then we’ll have something to consider. Right now, that’s not the case.

    52. Country Dick Montana says:

“So if I think Trump’s probably going to lose”

The country hasn’t even gotten a look at Biden yet. Do you really think that he survives the debates unscathed? Do you really think that his gaffes and confused state aren’t going to be made into a never ending series of attack ads?

Right now, at this 5 minutes Trump is being beaten by Trump and a generally pizzyness of the citizens primarily due to Covid lockdowns and riots.

You better be hoping he wins, because if he doesn’t it is because his base abandons him. If that happens down ballot is gone. You can welcome a New Green Deal and all the great stuff that comes with it. Unless they decide to make airline pilots into electric train engineers you can probably forget about working again.

Think long and hard about that, unless you have some other employable skill.

    53. Stonewall DW says:

What, like replace Trump with Jeb?

How about prevent down ballot carnage by helping Trump win?

      – Will Biden take body blows? Sure. Trump’s been questioning Biden mental acuity for months. I’m sure Trump will find other issues as well. But presidential re-elections are referendums on the incumbent.

If voters decide they’re just sick and tired of Trump or just ready for a change, it may not matter that Biden never leaves his basement. It may not matter if Biden drools all over himself. It may not matter if Biden doesn’t know what day it is.

Something similar happened with Bush and Clinton in 1992. America was much more conservative culturally then and Clinton was found to dodge the draft, smoked pot, and involved in multiple affairs. Yet, none of it mattered. The country had had enough of GHWB and 12 years of Republican presidencies. It didn’t matter than he led the country to a great victory over Iraq. He lost.

The same thing happened in 2008. It was clear by late September McCain was headed for a big loss, but post after post said he was going to win because of the Bradley Effect, the delbov curve, and various other things like some goofy tape CIA nutball Larry Johnson said existed.

    106. UgandanAttorney says:

      Robbie,

The metric that I’m using to evaluate Trump’s primary performance is his raw vote total in a state rather than his percentage of the vote since there’s no guarantee that an “uncommitted” voter will vote for Biden. His numbers are unprecedented for an incumbent running unopposed. Mitch’s raw number were also strong this year.

Here are the relevant raw vote comparisons:

      Trump 2020: 371,718
      Romney/Paul/Newt/Santorum 2012: 165,803
      McCain/Huckabee/Paul/Newt/Keyes/Rudy 2008: 187,038
      Bush 2004: 108,603

So Trump is getting hundreds of thousands of Republicans who have never bothered to cast a ballot for a Republican candidate in a presidential primary to take the time to go cast a ballot for him.

Another reason everyone should oppose the fake war on terrorism that is used to justify this nonsense.

      New Bill introduced in house

Exhibit A: Senate Bill 4051, the “Lawful Access to Encrypted Data Act”, which was quietly introduced last week when everyone’s attention was consumed elsewhere.

At its core, the LEAD Act is an encryption killer. It aims to require technology companies to build ‘back doors’ into their products to ensure that the government can remotely access your data, your device, and your life.
Apple, for example, currently provides device encryption on its iPhones and iPads. And once you encrypt your device, only YOU can decrypt it. Apple can’t. Hackers can’t. And the government can’t.
So if your device is ever stolen (or confiscated), your data cannot be compromised.
Under the LEAD Act, this practice would become illegal. Apple would no longer be able to offer device encryption, and they’d have to provide a way for the federal government to remotely access your device, and all of its contents.
The same goes for your favorite chat applications.

And to be crystal clear about what that means, CRYPTOCURRENCY will effectively become illegal under the LEAD Act as well.

    115. PresidentPaul! says:

It’s not like some hacker, or foreign intelligence agency, is going to probe the back door on your iPhone and say, “Oh, nevermind, this is only for the US government. I guess I’ll try to find another way in.”
If this law passes, not only will the government be able to access your devices, but hackers will have endless new treasures of data to steal… courtesy of the United States Senate.
      It’s genius.

A few years back the WSJ changed its commenting policy because reporters were being attacked/questioned on things that they were writing, especially their bias in news stories. The edito brought ia a nanny from the NYT who basically told us that the demographics of the commenting section was too old and that they had done ‘surveys’ and found that younger people wanted to comment but did not feel safe. Since Monday, 15 June, there have been 31 Farm attacks and 3 farm murders in South Africa. These attacks are frequently accompanied by extremely heinous acts of violence, murder and rape. In South Africa’s Muti religion, the consumption of body parts, especially from live victims, is believed to hold powerful magic. Up to 300 people are sacrificed every year in South Africa so that their body parts can be used in traditional Muti medicine, an ABC Australia documentary found 2005. Most of these are young children, tortured to death.
“It’s done while she’s still alive because the more she screams, the more powerful the Muti’s going to be,” explained crime expert Kobus Jonker in the ABC documentary, gesturing at the picture of a mutilated six year old girl. Jonker was the first South African to acknowledge Muti murders and set up a special police unit to deal with it in 2005, but Muti murders are notoriously hard to prosecute. – Most polls do not hard weight for partisan ID. Like other views, partisan ID is allowed to float since the way a voter feels about a candidate or period of time often determines with which party a voter associates.

The question asked is not “Are you a registered Republican or Democrat?” The question is often something like “Do you consider yourself a Republican or Democrat?”

Pollster try and make sure demographics are in line with known statistics, but they do not do the same for partisan ID since it can change.

    169. VictrC says:

      Barrett

Don’t believe what you hear. That is the whole purpose of the story, because we can not deny it because there is intelligence involved. A crumb of intelligence gets in the hand of a journalist, and is twisted to make it look bad for Trump.

If this was actually done, the best way to respond is not in the papers. Believe me there is so much more going on in geopolitics than can ever be stated openly.

Don’t be afraid for your troops. Putin isn’t stupid. Targeting US Troops would be something he wouldn’t want because I can guarantee there would be a response that would be incredibly swift.

To put in perspective the increase we’ve seen in a few states, just a few weeks ago we were getting 19,000 cases a day. Today, FL, TX, and CA accounted for 21,000 cases on their own.

    173. Barrett says:

      Jason and Victr,

Thanks but I’m having a hard time with this. Trump has been great for the troops, yes. But for whatever reason he can not stand up to Putin. That’s always bothered me.

I know Biden will be a disaster. I need Trump to address this and I’m not the only one. I come from a military family and a close group of friends who mostly all vote Republican. Out of our group of 9 friends (Trump voters in 2016), 2 are now voting Biden. If I feel uneasy about this bounty thing then I’m sure several more of those friends will switch to Biden because of this. Trump needs to get control over this story.

    174. Hugh says:

Barrett do you believe trump who loves our troops and has been way tougher on Putin or the msn Biden bootlickers? If you are uncertain I kind of have to say b s.

    175. Victrc says:

Barrett, with all due respect, there hasn’t been a President as hard on Putin as Trump. You will not read about it in the papers, because they won’t report on it.

I deal with governments around the world at the highest level, those on HHR know that. I secure global communications, and I can tell you the crap they say about our allies not respecting Trump is total BS. I know first hand how they feel, and they all know and respect him infinitely more than Obama, and Biden is an absolute joke worldwide, especially after Iran.

As well, you have to understand international diplomacy, and intelligence, is WAY WAY WAY more complicated than will ever be talked about in the open.

The story is BS. Plain and simple.

BTW, if you have “Republican” friends who are voting Biden, they were never Republicans. EVER

    176. Barrett says:

OK thanks guys. This isn’t really helpful. I’m looking for reassurance, not comparisons to Biden who we all agree would be a disaster.

As for my “Republican” friends, yes they are Republicans. We go back 40 years voting Republicans every chance we get. One voted Clinton in 92. Youre sounding like anyone doesn’t agree with you 100% of the time must not be pure enough, or garbage like that. I’m just looking for simple answers, not to have my friends attacked with they were “never Republicans EVER” when you know nothing about us and what we’ve done for our country over the decades. That is pure crap.

    177. Phil says:

      The story has been debunked.

I don’t know what else to tell you.

Unnamed sources. How credible have those turned out to be over the last three and a half years?

    178. Tina says:

Everyone told you he was not briefed.

Don’t think anybody can add anything more.

You may need to do your own research and get the answer toi are seeking.

    179. jason says:

This is a non story, Barrett. Fake news like dozens before. You know the drill

If anyone actually switches their vote because of this they were looking for an excuse.

The DOD says they have no evidence of this.

And of course, the “doesn’t stand up to Putin” is MSM propaganda too.

Trump has certainly stood up to Putin a heck more than Obama did.

    180. CountryDickMontana says:

The DOD says that the bounty claim cannot be sustatiated. What does Trump need to do or say to give you reassurance?

I suppose the other question would be suppose Putin did order it. What would you want Trump to do, nuke Russia. Any retaliation would probably be at the agent level and they are not going to annoumce that.

    181. SanDiegoCitizen says:

      130. “Robbie,SDC,Gordon et al: The new USA/Suffolk Poll shows Biden +12, but more astonishing is the Congressional Generic Ballot which shows D+14”.

The poll does have a Democrat bias, with 35% Democratic and 29% Republican. But an interesting question in the poll was if the election included a “third party” candidate.

      The results were:
      46% Biden
      37% Trump
      11% Third Party

My feeling is Trump’s polling nunbers are low now because he is off message. He still gets positive numbers for his ability to handle the economy– but the economy is now in tatters. He needs to explain how he will restore it.

Trump also needs to explain his strategy to address the CORVID-19 pandemic. Can anyone describe what the present plan is? In Sweden the government followed a definite policy, set by Anders Tegnell. It was controversial because it avoided a total lockdown, and was bitterly attacked by the foreign press — but both the government’s and Tegnell’s popularity remain high, and Sweden now has falling death and ICU admission rate.

By contrast, Trump relied on Fauci and other supposed experts, who pushed the national into total lockdown. There should have been a realization that, in effect, you were delaying the inevitable. Once the cork was removed from the bottle, the epidemic would resume and deaths and hospitalizations in many instances would began to rise. We may again be at square one, with only an economic collapse to show for it.

If the purpose to the lockdown, as claimed, was to ensure there was sufficent hospital capacity; then the lockdown should have been ended much earlier. Also, it needs to be made clear that when you test a much larger group of people, your going to discover many more new cases. This is a sign that testing works. The statistics that matter are the death and ICU admission rates.

In short, I believe there is now a leadershop void. Trump has not stated how we are going promote recovery and move the nation forward. Last year he could talk about “make America great” and “keep America great” — he cannot use either slogan now.

    182. VictrC says:

      Barrett

The story isn’t true. Like I said, I deal in geopolitics at the top levels. This is garbage

You’re correct. I don’t know your friends and shouldn’t have made a blanket statement. I should have said I can’t fathom how someone who voted Republican could vote for Biden. I apologize

With that said, I can’t fathom how they could. Trump has been the most “Republican” president since Reagan. He’s more Nixon than Reagan, but his policies have been absolutely sound. His standing overseas is WAY WAY WAY greater than the press will ever lead you to believe, especially with our traditional allies (except the German and British royal family).

Biden is LOATHED in the Middle East, ISreal, Eastern Europe, etc. I mean loathed.

Anyway, I can tell you that the story is bunk, it’s up to you to believe it. I have 25+ years doing what I do.

    183. jason says:

not to have my friends attacked with they were “never Republicans EVER” when you know nothing about us and what we’ve done for our country over the decades. That is pure crap.”

I am sorry, Barrett, but have you seen what Biden is proposing?

It is not an “attack” on your friends to say they are certainly buying into a different America they were defending before.

    184. VictrC says:

Barrett – feeling bad about the Republican comment. I really do apologize. That’s not who I am. I don’t have a litmus test, and shouldn’t have put on on your friends. Frustrating day here with the trolls and debbie downers trying to dampen excitement to push people away from voting R.

I think we have to always have a big tent, that includes the Collins, and Murkowski’s and Bitters of the world (LOL on the Bitter part). (Screw Romney. He is just awful. I can’t believe I helped raise money for him). We need to welcome everyone and not have a litmus test.

      That’s their playbook.

I hope your friends come back to the fold. Please convince them of how bad it would be in a Biden/Rice/Harris America.

The most likely explanation is that the rumors of Russia paying the Taliban has not been validated. Intelligence agents who are upset about Trump’s Afghanistan plans are trying to hurt him or scare him into not leaving.

2 You’re assuming there CAN be a PLAN other than riding it out and protecting the most vulnerable. That is what is being done. Work harder on a vaccine?? There’s a fair chance there won’t be one.
As to the economy Trump is providing relentless stimulus and promoting re-opening. He communicates that relentlessly as best he can
