Good morning! We have a new poll from the state of Montana from the University of Montana that has Donald Trump up by double digits over Joe Biden. On the downside for Republicans, current Democratic Governor Steve Bullock is leading the current Republican US Senator incumbent Steve Daines in a bid to flip this seat to Democrats.

PRESIDENT – MONTANA (University of Montana)
    Donald Trump (R) 52%
    Joe Biden (D) 38%

US SENATE – MONTANA (University of Montana)
    Steve Bullock (D) 47%
    Steve Daines (R-inc) 43%

US HOUSE – MONTANA – CD AL (University of Montana)
    Matt Rosendale (R) 45%
    Kathleen Williams (D) 37%

GOVERNOR – MONTANA (University of Montana)
    Greg Gianforte (R) 46%
    Mike Cooney (D) 36%

This poll was done June 17-26 among 517 registered voters.

The senate majority is in serious peril at this point.

Democrats would have to run the table of close races but it’s definitely possible depending on how much Trump loses by.

Garnering 255K raw votes in a general election should be enough for a Republican to win in Montana.

In the primary, Daines tracked Trump pretty closely this year. Daines had 192,942 raw votes while Trumps’ raw number was 200,174.

Daines and Trump probably put up the best primary numbers in terms of raw votes for any Republican in at least the last twenty years.

Biden/Sanders/Warren combined for 145,723 votes while Bullock had 144,949 votes in the primary.

Daines would need around 63K votes past his primary total to 255K. Montana had around 500K general election votes in 2016. If you give Daines all of Trump’s primary raw vote and Bullock all of the Biden/Sanders/Warren primary raw vote, you’ll have around 155K votes up for grabs in the general. Daines would need 40% of the non-Republican, non-Democrat primary vote to get to 255K.

The US Non-Farm Payroll report printed at +4.80M jobs, well above expectations of +3.04M.

The unemployment rate fell to 11.1%, below 12.4% eyed and 13.3% last month.

    9. Gordon Allen says:

Sure looks like a V shaped recovery. Imagine what it would be like if the Coronavirus scare mongers were in check( at least moderately). The economy really wants to recover.

Based on the tally that I keep, the death rate for cases 2 weeks previous was the following:

      May 1 – 6.67%
      June 1 – 4.32%
      July 1 – 2.28%

Something has changed for sure. More testing, younger people getting it, weaker strain, better care, who knows.

    11. jason says:

      All those factors combined.

But the biggest factor is nursing homes.

In PA 2/3 of the deaths were nursing home related.

    12. jason says:

Didn’t the Paulbot say unemployment was 40%?

    13. Country Dick Montana says:

“The unemployment rate fell to 11.1%, below 12.4% eyed and 13.3% last month.”

And when the $600 per week federal giveaway ends on July 31 it will really drop. so many people hiring right now, especially in the construction business. High paying jobs that no one seems to want to do.

    14. Country Dick Montana says:

“In PA 2/3 of the deaths were nursing home related.”

I think nationally it is something around 50%.

Still think that Trump needs to announce a civil rights investigation as to why so many elderly had to die in nursing homes due to the actions of blue state governors.

    15. Tina says:

      Rasmussen 46%. Approval.
