You know it’s 4th of July when you go to Whole Foods and all the Beyond Meat Burgers and tofu is sold out.

      It’s grilling time baby!!!

    4. Tgca says:

I realized I was a bit racist today. I got some watermelon from Whole Foods…vanilla gelato…but it had some raspberries in it so maybe not so racist after all.

    5. Tgca says:

Speaking about systemic racism. This video is very moving about one guy became woked!

My breakfast buddies and I were having our usual Saturday morning breakfast together at our usual diner and the discussion was dominated by politics. All four of us are very much in agreement about how crazy the left is and my friends were particularly fired up this morning about what’s been going on of late and I guess we were a little louder than usual.

Anyway, when it got time to pay the check our waitress came over and informed us that the guy at the next table who had already left had picked up our tab and told her to tell us he liked what we were saying.

When the media bombards you day in day out with leftist BS it sometimes makes you feel that you are somehow isolated and alone in your thinking. This morning was just a small reminder that you’re not.

    7. dblaikie says:

Florida had a whopping 11500 cases. But just one problem with going gloom and doom about it — they had 14 yes 14 fatalities.

    8. janz says:

2/3s of Biden’s vote is simply a vote cast against Trump. How incentivized those voters are to turn out in November remains to be seen.

      HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!

AT YOUR BARBEQUE TODAY, REMEMBER TO ET MORE CHIKIN.

(can we still say “barbeque”…because you KNOW vegans are triggered by that and are offended.)

If we can’t say ‘master’ bedroom…’cause it offends X…
And can’t say ‘Chief’ of police because it offends X…
–Is it still OK to use the word ‘head’…as in Head accountant, Head Start Program, Head groundskeeper, etc.?

–Can we still say someone is the ‘butt’ of a joke?

The world of ‘people speak’ has become so confusing…

Mrs. Walt has an arrangement on the table using cotton balls from a cotton plant. Walt told her she had to get rid of it…it was no doubt offensive to someone…

      ANYWAY, HAPPY FOURTH!

      – That’s fine. I’ve never taken seriously anyone who spends time unskewing polls when they don’t deliver the preferred results. This forum was rife with poll unskewing in 2012 and it, predictably, ended in tears for those who had convinced themselves the polls were all wrong. Strange, but there wasn’t any poll unskewing in 2010 or 2014. Why?

More importantly, I’ve been undecided about voting for Trump since mid-April. Considering how opposed to him I’d been since June 16, 2015, I’d have thought you’d take that change as a step in the right direction. Had the election been at any point in May, I’d have voted for him.

One reason I’m still undecided on Trump is he’s spent much of the last few weeks reminding me why I never cared for his candidacy. The “white power” retweet was ridiculous. Also, supporters of his like you aren’t willing to give those who are undecided about whether to vote for him the time and space needed to make that decision. You either want a decision now or claim the person is an outcast.

There’s a good chance I won’t know how I’ll vote on Trump until I fill out my ballot. I won’t, however, be voting for Biden.

You’ve got it all wrong. I give true undecided voters plenty of time to make up their minds.

But like I said, I don’t take scammers seriously. That’s why I don’t take you seriously.

I have more respect for people like Proud Obamacon. I completely disagree with him politically. However, at least he doesn’t come here and hide who he really is.

Exactly on point. Current polling is highly suspect when Republicans roll up victories in places like California, where they won what is now considered a Democratic leaning congressional district.

      – Did you ever consider that maybe it’s the candidate’s fault and not the voter’s fault. I didn’t make Bevin do the things he did. I didn’t make him spend four years being a jerk. I didn’t make him pick a fight with teachers four six months before election day.

It’s fair to say the votes we cast or don’t cast have consequences, but it’s also fair to say the actions of leaders have consequences as well. Had Bevin simply never said anything or gone on vacation for all four years of his governorship, he’d have won going away.

He’s should be cautionary tale for Trump.

-What was this fight about, Robbie?

    29. NYCmike says:

“– Is your problem that I may or may not vote for Trump? Or is your problem my analysis of the race?”

      -2 separate things.

The fact that you may not vote for Trump despite the overwhelming evidence of the direction the Democratic Party is going shows how immature and petty you are as a person.

In regard to your analysis – recycled trash from 4 years ago – nothing new at all. Just regurgitate what the talking heads on the MSM say, along with posting stories from “anonymous sources”.

    30. NYCmike says:

In regard to Bevin, it was his fault that he lost the election. He was a divisive figure, who stupidly tried to do the right thing at the wrong time.

It also stands to reason that if you (Robbie) didn’t support him out of personal dislike, instead of substantive policy issues, you would eat some humble pie and accept the fact that the current governor is the price you pay for being petty, small-minded and short-sighted.

Analysis like 68 makes it hard for me to take some posters seriously. NH has trended steadily left for the past 16 years, and other than Governor Sununu, no Republican has won statewide there since Kelly Ayotte won in 2010.

The Granite State is becoming increasingly like VT with its woke hipsters and high university turnout.

It would be a major upset if Trump won that state. Until I see tangible evidence of his ability to win there, I have to put this prediction in the wishful thinking category.

As far as MN, I’m just going to point out the high-turnout moonbats in the Twin Cities are unlikely to let Trump—whom they despise passionately—carry their state.

      https://txdshs.maps.arcgis.com/apps/opsdashboard/index.html#/0d8bdf9be927459d9cb11b9eaef6101f

Looks like up until around June 18, we were averaging a little under 30K tests per day, and we have increased to the 50K per day range (July 3 was 52K). On June 18, we had 3,516 cases. July 3 we had 7,555 cases and I know for a fact Tarrant has not reported in the past two days. On June 18, testing positivity rate was 8.53%. Yesterday it was 13.15% (down from 14.31% June 27 – hopefully that was the peak). Hospitalizations rose from 2,947 to 7,652 during this time.

To me, that looks like the number of tests went up 60% but the number of cases went up by 115%, and the number of hospitalizations went up by 160%. Again, hope I’m wrong.

Our other fundamental difference is,being active in politics for 50 years(likely more than anyone here)is my belief that Biden is the weakest candidate the Democrat’s have put up since McGovern . Thanks. I wonder where worldometers get their numbers from – the Texas DSHS and Covid Tracking project track closely to the numbers I shared. Maybe there’s a lag in the state site from testing numbers in some of the larger counties? That would be a good thing if it was true.

Tarrant reported 585 today – this is after a 2 day Fourth of July holiday in which they didn’t report. If that is truly 3 days worth of numbers, I’d say that’s a similar improvement to Bexar and Travis. Tarrant also reported 3 deaths – again, for a 3 day total that would be an improvement, although the deaths reported seem to pour in on Tuesdays.

Biden is going to be caught in the middle, trying to appease the radical left group of his supporters, while not alienating the majority of Americans who do not have radical views.

    123. UgandanAttorney says:

Here are the current RCP averages vs. the RCP averages from polls entirely conducted in June in states from 2016. I have excluded comparison with states that lacked more than one poll in June in 2016. That’s the only way you can get an apples-to-apples comparison with 2016 from the vantage point of RCP polling:

      Arizona
      2020 Biden +3.5
      2016 Clinton +.5

      Florida
      2020 Biden +5
      2016 Clinton +2.8

      Iowa
      2020 Trump +1.5
      2016 Clinton +8

      North Carolina
      2020 Biden +3
      2016 Clinton +.7

      Ohio
      2020 Tied
      2016 Clinton +1.7

      Pennsylvania
      2020 Biden +7
      2016 Clinton +1.75

      Wisconsin
      2020 Biden +6.5
      2016 Clinton +7.3

So Trump is polling better or around where he was in 2016 in Wisconsin, Iowa, and Ohio. Trump is behind his pace from 2016 in Florida, Arizona, and North Carolina a little bit but it’s hardly dispositive.

The only state where he’s materially behind his pace from 2016 in Pennsylvania. There was no polling from June in the Trump-Clinton race, so no comparison can be made.

BTW, I am reading “American Lion”, a biography of Andrew Jackson. I can see why Trump has a picture of him in the Oval Office. Jackson was considered a crude interloper to the DC elite. The “deep state” was already showing roots. The attacks on him, his family and friends were personal and relentless. He considered himself a representative of the “people” and held a disdain for the elite. He did, however manage to be a bit more diplomatic in his dealings with them.

Dominion was part of that too. Getting out of that business and selling the assets the Berkshire Hathaway. Even though they had won at the SCOTUS, they felt that the legal environment was going to continue to make finishing it. Also, Dominion has made the decision to go the carbon free route concentrating on the “state regulated” side of the business. In other words, they will do what the government wants as long as they can make greater profits in a business that has high barriers to entry.

Anyone here ever seen a utility scale solar farm in the East? Since there are no deserts, farmland taken out of production and forests destroyed with acres and acres of ugly solar panels. Bottom line is despite growing cases and higher percentage, we’re seeing a smaller percentage of ER visits, a smaller percentage of hospitalizations to visits, a smaller percentage of deaths of hospitalizations. The rates are trending down all across the board.

    206. Data Speaks For Itself says:

17 weeks left to go. If the polling is correct, Biden today would win by 9 nationally and win 351 electoral votes. Democrats today would have a net gain of at least 7+ seats and expand their House majority. They’d also flip the Senate and get 53 seats. Gubernatorial elections would see no change anywhere save for the Montana race where the GOP looks like they’ll finally flip that one.

4 months is plenty time, but it also leaves little room for error for the guy(s) behind. Even an error of the size of 2016 wouldn’t help Trump under these conditions. He MUST get it to be as close as 2016. One thing I find fascinating is that voters’ approval of Trump now matches the overall numbers. Before Trump’s numbers were slightly better with voters only. Speaks volumes on what a rough Spring and Summer (so far) he’s had.
