My wife and I were tested on June 30 in Fort Myers, FL. There was a 2 mile backup of cars( three lanes) at the drive through; we finally got our results on July 8 from the lab after Two calls, with the last one being on hold for an hour. The lab apologized and said they were beyond swamped. An incredible testing effort is under way here.

      – Are you still seeing lines of cars backed up for tests, or have they diminished? Hopefully, the lines aren’t as long and that might indicate things are improving.

      That’s BS!

Trump is NOTj in good shape. He is MORBIDLY OBESE!!!

Even Nancy Pelosi agrees with that.

      Brandon

So Trump at 245 lbs weighs less than Tim Tebow at 255 lbs so both of them must be morbidly obese per Nancy because they’re both 6’3. Must be the clothes they’re wearing because Tebow doesn’t look as round to me.

For the record, the BMI index for someone of 6’3 proves both Trump with a BMI 30.6 and Tebow with a BMI of 31.9 are obese since any BMI over 30% for a male is obese. This proves Trump is slightly obese which means Nancy Pelosi lied when she said Trump was morbidly obese. Where’s the fact checkers in the MSM I ask?

Also, the BMI cannot be questioned because it’s a scientific method found on the NIH website and we all know that the scientists and medical professionals at NIH would never promote any scientific methods not grounded in proven research. Just ask Dr Fauci.

Here is your chance to denounce that takeover of the stock market by the FED. The FED has basically killed the free market as it relates to stock markets. China’s stock market is more free-market driven than the US stock market. You love it , don’t ya? LOL

Denounce it or admit you’re a socialist.

Well if you don’t want to admit to being a socialist, at least admit you’re a complete idiot. LOL

    15. Robbie says:

The big problem with coronavirus right now is we can’t get a real time look at what’s happening because getting test results takes time.

For instance, look at the number of corona tests announced each day recently. Around the 4th of July, the number dropped into the 40,000 range after having been higher before the holiday. So what happened this week? The number of tests reported increased until there was a huge backlog cleared today. The same thing has happened in Arizona.

Until we get a faster test or the number of those seeking tests slows down, we’re not going to get a good, real time look at what’s happening. Things could be improving in Florida right now despite 15,300 reported, or they could be getting worse. We don’t really know.

    16. Phil says:

Yup. The time spent waiting on test results is a problem. That is actually true.

I thought we would have cut the three or four day wait time by now.

    17. Robbie says:

      15

I realized I forget to mention I was referencing Florida in my second paragraph.

    18. Gordon Allen says:

Don’t know about the lines as of today. June 30 was 12 days ago. But waiting 8 days does seem problematic. The labs are finite and you can’t hire lab technicians like landscapers. As presently allowed by technology I think we may be pushing the limits of tests numerically.

The problem with the University of Texas-Tyler poll is that it asked the horserace after multiple questions about the coronavirus. So the covid-19 questions influenced the results.

They asked this question before the horserace question, along with questions about Abbott and Trump’s ratings on the coronavirus. They should have asked the horserace questions first.

“How comfortable would you feel voting early-in-person or at a precinct if the coronavirus is a threat during the run-off election?”

people are already doing things on social media like posting questions such as:

    34. Phil says:

      Oh goodie. A new troll.

    35. FactsMatter says:

Multiple studies have been done showing the average deaths in a year compared to this year where there have been thousands of “excess” deaths in the U.S. but they’re magically not attributed to Covid. MULTIPLE STUDIES. This site loves to talk about the lowering death rates but these are the facts. By the way, when you go from 25,000 cases per day to 60,000+, deaths will be going up, it’s called math.

    36. dblaikie says:

Well the “math” for today is going to be under 500. Hey facts, let me give you some. With better treatments, a weakening virus, a huge amount cases in age groups that are hardly effected by the virus. Well guess what you imbecile you can have 60000 cases and the fatality. If you want to be a troll on this site feel free. But frankly facts, you have had a bad beginning with your inane posts.

    37. dblaikie says:

I hate typos. Well guess what, you imbecile, you can 60000 cases and the fatality rate will go down.

    38. dblaikie says:

Third time is a charm. I need a single malt. You can have 60000 cases …

    39. FactsMatter says:

Fatality rates per capita are coming down but when you have 60,000+ per day, fatalities will be going up from where they have been due to shear volume. And go ahead and ignore the fact the numbers are being manipulated by Republican governors. I wonder how many people died from pneumonia or respiratory failure this week?

    40. dblaikie says:

Facts you must have a skull about 3 inches thick. Let me try this again. If you have 60000 cases and the majority of folks with a positive test are in a low risk group the fatality rate will go down.

And don’t talk to me about red state Gov. When you had the Gov. of NY and NJ send Covid patients back into nursing homes!!! Como had thousands of beds at the hospital ship and the Javitz Center and he still sent them into nursing homes. Their is gallons of blood on their hands facts!!

Blue state governors have been manipulating numbers for months. New Jersey dropped 119 deaths one day this week by ‘reviewing’ death certificates all the way back to April and then reporting them as deaths on a single day in July. That would be included in your “increase in fatalities” There’s you some ‘manipulation” and it isn’t from a red state Governor.

I have come to a sad but necessary decision. I had planned on fighting to have the voting machines in my town have an “Against Biden” button like it had an “Against Hillary” button in 2016. Unfortunately, Democrats were swept into office at the local and county level in the 2018 election in an anti-Trump backlash. The money I planned on spending in the court fight is now going to care for my 93 year old dad.

Therefore, despite knowing that I must now surrender decades of opposing trade wars and supporting free trade, I will vote for Trump. I know that my vote also means supporting a man whose treatment of women falls somewhere between Bill Clinton and Wes. Sadly, my vote will also support a man who holds the highest office in the land but who can’t avoid acting like a 5 year old in petty twitter battles with insignificant people.

As I promised when asked what I would do if I saw Bill Clinton or Obama approaching me, I will cross the street to avoid shaking Trump’s hand.

However, the thought of Joe Biden becoming President is unacceptable. Unlike the doomers here, I will never believe that America will ever be in a position that it can’t recover from any Administration. Yet, the current choice is between Trump and a disaster.

I was born in 1968 so, to my great regret, I was unable to vote for Reagan. I hope I live at least until 2024 so my last Presidential vote is not this one. In 2020, I will vote for Trump. I can only hope that he wins, replaces 1-2 more SCOTUS justices and leaves quietly on January 20, 2025.

“Our analyses suggest that the official tally of deaths due to Covid-19 represent a substantial undercount of the true burden,” Dan Weinberger, an epidemiologist at Yale School of Public Health and a lead author of the study.

The 781,000 total deaths in the United States in the three months through May 30 were about 122,300, or nearly 19% higher, than what would normally be expected, according to the researchers. Of the 122,300 excess deaths, 95,235 were attributed to Covid-19, they said. Most of the rest of the excess deaths, researchers said, were likely related to or directly caused by the coronavirus.

Gee. I wonder what could have caused those extra 27,000 excess deaths during a pandemic that haven’t been attributed to Covid in that 3 month period? It’s a real conundrum.

The city’s largest hospital network, Abrazos Health, has also ordered “refrigerated storage,” even though it currently has “adequate morgue space,” according to officials.

Morgues are also overwhelmed in Texas, where COVID-19 cases hit another daily record — 10,351 — on Saturday.

The morgue in Nueces County, where Corpus Christi is located, hit capacity on Wednesday and ordered a second refrigerated truck from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

“That’s why we’re asking people to wear face masks,” Nueces County Judge Barbara Canales told NBC affiliate KRIS-TV. “I am now having to order additional body bags and morgue trailers. People have to understand how real it is.”

Morgues in Texas’ Travis, Cameron and Hidalgo Counties now either have refrigerator trailers for the dead, or have ordered them, The Texas Tribune reported.

A particularly chilling sign of the death rates from COVID-19 at the height of the coronavirus surge in New York City were the white semi-trailer morgue trucks lined up outside a number of hospitals.

TX: From 2015-2018 they averaged appx 1000/yr. In 2020 they claim 4217.

NY? 24 straight days of 500 deaths per day and above in April

15 of those days over 750

9 of those days over 900

The difference? The governors of Florida and Texas protected the nursing homes unlike the governor of NY who stuck the infected into the homes. He managed to turn those into killing fields. The Feds sent a hospital ship and built a 2000 bed hospital in the Javits Center and that moron decides he’d rather stick the vulnerable back in the nursing homes. Brilliant

Since May 25 — the day that George Floyd died while in Minneapolis police custody — 503 NYPD officers have filed for retirement, compared to 287 who filed for retirement during the same period last year.

It’s gotten so bad that the department is now limiting the number of officers who can file for retirement. The pension office has been so overwhelmed that they are only accepting 40 applications a day.

One officer told the Post that they have had so many applications that the pension office has had to limit the number of appointments to around 40 a day.

“Apparently, the pension section is only taking a certain amount of people per day and I think they are backed up till late July, early August,” one officer said. “That’s why you don’t see like 100 a day, because they are only doing like 35 to 40 a day, by appointment.””

The point is that more test are going to show an increase in cases. But if the increase in cases is among asymptomatic cases, younger people with infinitesimally smaller risk than the more vulnerable population, you don’t use that for political purposes to advocate to damage the economy.

There’s some belief immunity may only last a few months after an infection. In other words, you can catch it again. But if you do, wouldn’t it be milder because the body already knows how to attack it? That’s assuming no serious mutations.

That is not what it means. It means that the antibodies can no longer be detected, but most if not all cases of “catching it again” are attributed to testing errors. If you tested positive in a false positive, and you get infected later on, it doesn’t mean you caught it again.

Also, even IF you could catch it again so to speak, there is no evidence you are contagious “again”.

If you could catch it again you would have a lot more cases of repeat infections in countries wher months have passed since their peak.

The MSM is desperate to drive a wedge between Trump and Fauci, because Fauci lends the gravitas and credibility to the WH policy on Covid. And the Fauci haters are just playing politics.

Proud, congrats on your Tesla gains. Another +200 today. I have no words. When i initially bought my shares, I said I would metaphorically put the stocks into my desk drawer and check on them in 5 years. Stock has gone through the roof since then. I’m gonna have to take some profits. A 50% drop would be considered revision to the mean. Just too risky at this point to not book at least some profits.

As for put selling, you know where I stand. Effective put selling beats the market every time with significantly less risk. You just need the time to find the right underlying stock and get the right strike price. My sweet spot is 20-30% below current price with 45 days to expiration. Only sell puts on an underlying that you are willing to own. Keep your trades small and close them out well before the 45 days so you can redeploy capital.

I don’t think there’s any doubt Fauci is trying to provoke a response/attack from Trump with his recent comments. He’s stepped up his media appearances to say things aren’t going well at just the time Trump is attempting to relaunch his presidential campaign.

Trump’s mad Fauci gave him a lot of bad info early on and deservedly so. How different might things have been had Fauci and the gang suggested mask use in March rather than just now? On the other hand, Fauci’s mad Trump has largely ignored him for the last month or so and he’s using media appearances and newspaper quotes to make that clear.

It’s a combustible mix. Fauci needs to realize he’s not president, but Trump also needs to realize he’ll almost certainly need Fauci’s imprimatur when a vaccine is approved.

Hey facts, I see that you are still the most inane and stupid of the trolls who decide to come here. Yesterday you were droning on and on how the rise in cases was going to make the death rate spike. Well guess what during the last few days it is going down — despite the spike in cases. Even the larger numbers last week were the CDC backlogging fatalities from April.

Again you TDS people amaze me!! Most parties try to moderate and move to the middle during an election. You guys are speeding towards left wind radicalism. Now you have become the party against opening school in the face science. The list of stuff that is going to collapse your party like house of cards is getting long. Defund the police, destroy our history, keep kids (hardly any children even have mild symptoms) out of school, open our borders, destroy the second amendment, embrace late term abortions, embrace lock downs … I could go on and on. But the worst is that you people are supporting a man who has dementia for the Presidency of the United States. Talk about a security risk.

    237. FactsMatter says:

Thousands of excess deaths during a pandemic attributed to pneumonia and respiratory failure. How convenient.

    238. Phil says:

Hugh, deaths per one million in Texas is 112.

      NY it’s 1668

      NJ it’s 1760

Of course, that kind of discrepancy occurs when you dump your infected elderly into nursing homes. Sheer Incompetence. Totally unforgivable. Even the MSM hasn’t come up with any defense of that. There just isn’t any. None.

    239. Tina says:

Phil, didn’t you hear, the venthoarder is writing a book on covid.

    240. dblaikie says:

Hey facts I know that your brain is rather limited but let me help you. OK lets say you are right and for whatever reason those extra pneumonia deaths were really covid. So lets see we will 4259 fatalities to Florida? Well how does that compare to the over 25000 dead in NY? Facts you need to get some new facts!

    241. Phil says:

Should be a best seller, Tina. Will occupy the fiction portion of the library.

    242. FactsMatter says:

1st cases go down every weekend and go up during the week. Last week cases were up from the previous couple of weeks.

2nd there is a lag from cases to reported deaths. We are within a week of the 60,000+ per day case numbers. The future deaths will be coming. Even at a 2% death rate that’s 1200+ future deaths per day. It’s called math. Plus you have to account for the Repug governors lying about deaths to hide their incompetence.

    243. Phil says:

32,000 dead in NY, dblaikie. Don’t skimp on Cuomo’s numbers. He worked hard fo achieve those extra 7,000 deaths. Give the man his due. Lol

    247. FactsMatter says:

That was just through May so now add in June-July hidden deaths and then take into account future deaths based on FL and TX’s huge daily case load. NY peaked long ago and is under control now. But FL and TX will still lie about their deaths.

First I do not believe anything FM says. People play all kinds of games with numbers and the media is no longer worthy of trust. Still 25k dead is 25k dead. The incompetence of Cuomo and his blue state buddies is obvious but yet the press ignores it and now we are to believe what they tell us? Sorry doesn’t work that way. In the end trump will win not because of his performance or his personality, though I like his performance but because the fact guy and those like him in charge is unthinkable when independents have to hold their noses and vote. Vote for Dementia joe who can’t tell birds from rain and the mob or vote for trump the narcissist as s. It will end up being an easy decision. The funniest part is the blue states are willing to bankrupt themselves and have their children sit home for no good reason out of blind hatred.

    255. Tina says:

So, we must wait 2 weeks.

All these deaths from reopening, right?

    256. dblaikie says:

Facts I will try one more time. Most of these new cases are infected people in low risk groups. Unlike the democratic governors who were taking old people infected with covid in and taking them to nursing homes so they can kill other old people. Because they are low risk cases the fatality rate is not going to increase much. Sorry. And when folks realize this, there will be hell to pay for your party in your honest effort to destroy our economy, our schools, and our history.

    257. CountryDickMontana says:

Biggest rise in deaths last week was the New Jersey dump. Something like 119 in one day. I think that Florida added a few also.

At least 8 Euro countries surpassed US in deaths per million population, especially in those with some very crowded urban areas like in the US where the most deaths were concentrated. They also got hit 1st before the US so it’s expected their numbers decreased over time. The US is also testing more now so expect the infection rate to go higher but deaths lower as a percentage of infected.

UK, France, Belgium, Spain, Italy, Sweden, San Marino, Andorra

Some other countries in Europe and South America are also high. It also depends on travel to or through them that allowed passage of the virus to proliferate. Some other remote countries which are less traveled may not have been impacted as much.

States that are solidly GOP (GOP Gov and voted Trump)

      Percentage of US Population: 41.0%
      Number of States: 22
      Number of Deaths: 19.6K
      US Percentage of deaths: 19.4%

NO RUSSIAN COLLUSION WHAT SO EVER!

President Trump said on Sunday that a Trump Tower meeting between top campaign aides and a Kremlin-connected lawyer was designed to “get information on an opponent” — the starkest acknowledgment yet that a statement he dictated last year about the encounter was misleading.

Mr. Trump made the comment in a tweet on Sunday morning that was intended to be a defense of the June 2016 meeting and the role his son Donald Trump Jr. played in hosting it. The president claimed that it was “totally legal” and of the sort “done all the time in politics.”

But the tweet also served as an admission that the Trump team had not been forthright when Donald Trump Jr. issued a statement in July 2017 saying that the meeting had been primarily about the adoption of Russian children.

    309. Country Dick Montana says:

So doing the math, if you want your country to be great again and are using Covid deaths as the yard stick, you need to vote GOP. I mean really, 22 GOP states had 81% of all of NY.

    313. jason says:

    314. FactsMatter says:

Just because the Kremlin lawyer didn’t have any good dirt doesn’t mean the top Trump campaign employees weren’t there hoping to get it. Collusion with Russia.

    315. FactsMatter says:

The Trump Tower meeting took place on June 9, 2016, in New York City between three senior members of the 2016 Trump campaign – Donald Trump Jr., Jared Kushner, and Paul Manafort – and at least five other people, including Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya. The meeting was arranged by publicist and long-time Trump acquaintance Rob Goldstone. It was disclosed to U.S. government officials when Kushner filed a revised version of his security clearance form.

Donald Trump Jr. made several misleading statements about the meeting. He initially told the press that the meeting was held to discuss adoptions of Russian children by Americans. On July 8, 2017, after news reports stated that Trump Jr. knew the meeting was political, he admitted in a tweet that he had agreed to the meeting with the understanding that he would receive information damaging to Hillary Clinton, and that he was conducting opposition research. When the New York Times was about to report on email exchanges between Goldstone and Trump Jr., Trump Jr. himself admitted that Goldstone had stated in an email to him that the Russian government was involved and that the purpose of the meeting was to get “dirt on Clinton” and that the meeting concerned a “Russian effort to aid the (Trump) campaign.” In early July 2017, it was reported that President Donald Trump himself drafted Trump Jr.’s initial misleading statement. The report was later confirmed by the president’s attorneys. In July 2018, the president denied knowledge of the meeting.

You are going to have to do a lot better than posting a bunch of stuff from Reddit.

Plans to restrict dining and gatherings in some Southwestern Pennsylvania counties where covid-19 cases have increased have been put on hold following discussions with local leaders last week, Pennsylvania Department of Health Secretary Dr. Rachel Levine said Monday.

“We had a robust discussion, but none of that influenced our decision,” Levine said. “Really, it’s the day-to-day numbers that influence our decision and we decided to hold for the present time.”

When COVID-19 hit Europe, Finland closed its schools and daycares down. Sweden let theirs remain open. Now a Finnish study says there was no meaningful difference in the infection rate between the two countries as a result.

“School and daycare closures had little impact on kids’ Covid cases. The agency said that rates of infection in Finland were similar to Sweden, where schools and daycares remained open.

Finland moved decisively to shut down daycares and schools in response to the pandemic but Sweden took a much more relaxed approach.
The closure of schools and daycares had minimal effect on the number of confirmed novel coronavirus cases among children and young adults, the Finnish Institute of Health and Welfare said in a statement on Friday.
The public health agency based its conclusion on an analysis that compared confirmed infections resulting in intensive care treatment and fatalities among patients between the ages of one and 19 in Finland and Sweden.

The head of the Finnish health agency says that Finland would not close their schools again, as it probably caused more harm than good.

“According to the THL, there was no meaningful difference in the occurrence of infections in the two countries, although Finland opted to temporarily shut down schools and daycares from mid-March until May while Sweden did not.”
“Mika Salminen, Director of Health Security at the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL), says that authorities will respond differently if a second wave of the coronavirus pandemic hits Finland.

According to Salminen, Finnish health officials now have better understanding of the disease’s clinical picture, its burden on the healthcare system and who are most at risk of falling ill.
Speaking on Yle Radio 1 on Monday, Salminen said his agency would probably not recommend closing schools again. He said that studies indicate that the harm caused by school closures outweighs the possible benefit.”
