ID: Craig’s Will “Delay” Resignation

Because he can, Larry Craig is now claiming he will not resign on September 30th as he originally said. From AP.

Idaho Senator Larry Craig now says he’ll stay in Congress for the time being.

Craig had said he would resign September 30th over his guilty plea in a men’s room sex sting at the Minneapolis airport. Craig made no mention of that commitment in a statement released today.

It came after a Minnesota judge said it will be next month before he rules on Craig’s request to withdraw a guilty plea.

Frist…What an a**, Craig that is..

  2. MDefl says:

As if the Gop didn’t have enough problems. Of course, it won’t be a problem for FDT because if you listen to Mikeks, people will vote for Fred in mass because they will like him.

  3. Tim says:

I would think that Senator McConnell would quietly ask Senator Craig to go away.

  5. Bitterlaw says:

I think that he should copy Governor McGreavey and say, “My truth is that I am a member of the Democratic Party.”. The media will turn off their cameras and never bother him again.

  6. CambridgeREP says:

Eh…Craig’s not running next year, anyways, so even if he sticks around, I don’t think this will affect any elections in a meaningful away. How long could the media harp on this, anyways?

  7. Cory says:

I think Craig has every intention of running next year.
If he actually gets his guilty plea revoked he’ll force the issue with the voters.

Larry Craig: The self-absorbed freak who just keeps on giving.

  8. MikeKS says:

People will vote in mass for FDT because he’s the one candidate with consistently conservative principles, he’s a likeable, down to earth fellow, and is the only candidate with an electoral strategy that can win.

As for Sen. Craig, well, “shakes head in disbelief” is about right.

  9. Wes says:

You mean like losing every state Bush lost to Kerry as well as Ohio, Colorado, Virginia, Iowa, and New Mexico, Mike? Not sure how that’s a winning strategy.

  10. MDefl says:

Give it up. Mikeks would rather march the GOP right off the cliff rather than accept reality and nominate a moderate.

We may not be in Kansas Toto but Mikeks is (I think).

  11. Wes says:

MD, be the Republican moderate, conservative, liberal, or God Himself, Hillary takes the next election. God help us all then.
