Biden Leads Democratic Field By 6% in IA

Contradicting the poll from yesterday from The New York Times showing Bernie Sanders with an 7% lead over Pete Buttigieg and an 8% lead over Joe Biden in Iowa, USA Today and Suffolk University are showing a completely different race claiming it is Joe Biden who has a 6% lead on his nearest Democratic challenger.

    Biden 25%
    Sanders 19%
    Buttigieg 18%
    Warren 13%
    Klobuchar 6%
    Everyone Else 3% or less

This poll was January 23-26 among 500 likely caucus goers.

He was a miserable SOB. He was an amazing basketball player. Apparently, he was a great dad. Not such a great husband. It is very sad that he died. It is tragic that his daughter died.

That wasn’t hatred, he was just stating his opinion on the person.

I hope that poll is wrong, I am rooting for Bernie.

Jason. Seems like a rescue poll as no other poll has anything close to that

Why Democrats Still Have to Appeal to the Center, but Republicans Don’t

Polarization has changed the two parties — just not in the same way.
      Source The New York Times

In Opinion ‘Put simply,’ Ezra Klein writes, ‘ Democrats can’t win running the kinds of campaigns and deploying the kinds of tactics that succeed for Republicans .’

Polarization has changed the two parties — just not in the same way.

But in recent decades, the two parties have been changing, and fast. Those changes are ideological — the Democratic Party has moved left, and the Republican Party has moved right. But more fundamentally, those changes are compositional: Democrats have become more diverse, urban, young and secular, and the Republican Party has turned itself into a vehicle for whiter, older, more Christian and more rural voters.

Let’s start with diversity. Over the past 50 years, the Democratic and Republican coalitions have sorted by ideology, race, religion, geography and psychology. Not all sorting is the same. Sorting has made Democrats more diverse and Republicans more homogeneous. This is often played as a political weakness for Democrats. They’re a collection of interest groups, a party of list makers, an endless roll call. But diversity has played a crucial role in moderating the party’s response to polarization.

The Democratic Party’s informational ecosystem combines mainstream sources that seek objectivity, liberal sources that push partiality and even some center-right sources with excellent reputations. On any given question, liberals trust in sources that pull them left and sources that pull them toward the center, in sources oriented toward escalation and sources oriented toward moderation, in sources that root their identity in a political movement and in sources that carefully tend a reputation for being antagonistic toward political movements.

    9. Sheeple, Jr. says:

This is REALLY, REALLY Bad News for Team Trump. The Impeachment Trial will now continue “forever”.John Bolton is a total “piece of sh-t”.

Of course, the timing is impeccable.

    10. Sheeple, Jr. says:

Add: The Democrats are all over this releasing statements now that Bolton MUST testify. This is Kavanaugh Part II!

    11. Tina says:

Magggie hack originated that story, sheeple.

    12. Phil says:

      If that’s true then:

      1) the votes will be there to have Bolton as a witness.
      2) Senate votes will now likely be there for the other three witnesses desired by the Democrats.
      3) the defense presentation over the next two days will likely be overshadowed by this news (explains the timing).
      4) this impeachment trial goes on and on with the MSM having a field day at Trump’s expense.
      5) Trump is still aquitted but likely won’t get all 53 Senate Republicans.
      6) Trump badly weakened and probably finished in November.

All the above are predicated on sheeple’s news being true – except for numbers 2 and 3 which will occur true or not.

Perfect timing. Kavanaugh timing all over again.

    13. Phil says:

The Kavanaugh script to a tee. Timing is everything. Should have expected this.

    14. Sheeple, Jr. says:

      #12- Tina
I know that Mag Hag authored the story. That said, this is the Kavanaugh moment in the Impeachment saga.
If you read the NY Times article in full, Bolton claims that Barr has lied and that Pompeo and Mulvaney know the true story.

    15. jason says:

“MSNBC’s Sunday anchor Alison Morris made easily the worst reporting gaffe in 2020.

While interviewing sports journalists about the tragic and untimely death of Kobe Bryant, Morris somehow mixed up the “Los Angeles Lakers” with what sounded to viewers like the “Los Angeles N*ggers.”

    16. Sheeple, Jr. says:

The Bolton camp has released a statement, not denying the story, but claiming that the only transcript release was to the NSC/White House.
Although the Times’ sources are hidden, the detail in the article is robust.
I agree with Phil’s thinking in above #13.

    17. Phil says:

If true, Pompeo and Mulvaney will be called. No way around it outside of Bolton issuing a statement denying the story. That won’t happen. Bolton wants to sell his book. My guess is the story isn’t true but the timing is such as to be able to throw the trial into chaos and at the very least wipe Trump’s defense presentation right off the map.

Kavanaugh take two. Exact same timing and exact same script.

    18. Sheeple, Jr. says:

AG Barr has already denied Bolton’s claims about him.
Can you imagine the “fire” this story would produce if Kobe’s sad and unfortunate passind did not occur and consume a lot of media time?

    19. Phil says:

Don’t count on the Kolby story consuming anything, sheeple. The MSM will go with this 100% now. Book it.

    20. Tina says:

Seems like coordination between Maggie hack and drats, to scare the Rinos.

    21. Phil says:

Like I said, I don’t think what’s in the transcript is what is being reported. Of course, does anyone think for a second there aren’t individuals in the NSC and even in the WH that hate Trump and wouldn’t wouldn’t leak this if they could? Anyone who has been awake over the last three years would have to be brain dead to believe it could easily happen.

    22. Phil says:

of course it is designed to scare the RINOs, however, it even scares me and I’m no RINO.

….and of course it is coordinated.

    23. Tina says:

Phil, it is aimed at the Maine Chicklet, planned parenthood, and Pierre.

    24. Phil says:

I know, Tina…but they have Romney and Collins anyway. It’s designed to get two more votes.

You have to admit, however, the timing is brilliant….convenient but brilliant.

    25. Tina says:

It was telling that after two hours, Quittens wanted witnesses.

Prior to this, he said that he would decide after.

    26. jason says:

Let’s wait for the whole story here.

    27. Phil says:

Bolton will testify, Tina. This hatchet job report guarantees that. Just like the Kavanaugh last minute rape story threw the Kavanaugh nomination into chaos at the last minute.

Sneaky? unethical? Dirty coordination? Sure. But it worked and it will work now.

I hate Democrats. They are ruthless but they play to win….and they’ll do anything.

    28. Tina says:

      The leak is suspicious.

The manuscript goes to the wh for review first. It’s executive privilege. It would not go to nsc, until after.

I say fake news from the Queen of Fake News

    29. Tina says:

Phill I agree and our side will bend, like usual.

    30. Phil says:

Agree, let’s see how it all unfolds.

    31. jason says:

Bolton would be a fool to release this kind of information, if true, for “free” before anyone buys his book.

    32. SweatyToothedMadman says:

Phil, chill! You’re wrong – you said it worked with Kavanaugh. If it had, he wouldn’t have been confirmed.

    33. Phil says:

Jason, Bolton didn’t release it. If it got out it was leaked by Never Trumpers in the WH. We’ve seen this movie again and again.

    34. Sheeple, Jr. says:

We need more denials like this one:

“Among other names Mr. Bolton referenced in the manuscript: Attorney General William P. Barr. Mr. Bolton wrote that he raised concerns with Mr. Barr about Mr. Giuliani’s influence on the president after Mr. Trump’s July 25 call with Ukraine’s president. That call was a critical piece of the whistle-blower complaint that prompted the impeachment inquiry. Mr. Barr on Sunday denied Mr. Bolton’s account through a spokeswoman.”

    35. Phil says:

Worked in the sense that it turned a smooth confirmation of Kavanaugh into a nightmare hearing – for Kavanaugh and his family and for the country. He was cruising to a confirmation and then got confirmed by one vote. Same script here.

    36. Tina says:

The statement again makes no sense.

A request to look into Russian investigations does not equate to looking into Hillary or Biden.

      This is bs.

    37. jason says:

ason, Bolton didn’t release it. If it got out it was leaked by Never Trumpers in the WH.”

And actually the timing is not that good. The best timing would be AFTER Trump’s defense and before the votes to call witnesses.

    38. Big Joe says:

Iowa polling is all over the place. A Biden win and he can run the table (minus NH perhaps). A Bernie win means he easily takes NH which is usually a great sign historically for a Dem nominee.

Iowa is looking very very important.

      Big Joe

    39. Sheeple, Jr. says:

      Here’s a take from a liberal blogger:

Also, read even more closely, note the word “preferred” here. That Trump “preferred” that Ukraine do something is far different than saying, as Dems allege, that Trump *conditioned* it. I don’t think Bolton is helping Dems here (what a shocker, I know). pic.twitter.com/Wi4iDJBZK0— Aaron Maté (@aaronjmate) January 27, 2020

    40. Phil says:

‘’A Biden win and he can run the table”

Very possible. Maybe even probable depending on NH.

    41. jason says:

Yeah, I noticed “preferred” too…. and what is the deal with “Russian investigation”.

    42. Tina says:

Like I said, White House gets first crack, then nsc.

Any cionversati9ns between Bolton and trump are privileged.

The statement connecting Russian investigations with Biden and Hillary make no sense.

    43. Tina says:

It could make sense to say that the obumbler Biden spied on my campaign

    44. Tina says:

We also know that Hillary paid for the dossier.

That is why I claim fake news

    45. jason says:

Caucuses are notoriously hard to poll, because you don’t really know who is going to actually attend.

If you put a gun to my head, I would say Bernie probably has the most committed voters, but also younger and less likely to go to a caucus.

    46. jason says:

I listened to the MSNBC tape. The anchor definitely said Los Angeles Ni–ers, not “Nakers”.

Imagine if a Fox News anchor had said that.

    47. jason says:

If this manuscript has been around the WH for weeks, then the defense team probably knows about it and has had time to prepare for it.

    48. Phil says:

That makes sense. Can’t imagine this legal team blindsided.

    49. Sheeple, Jr. says:

Bolton’s team indirectly confirms the accuracy of the leak by not denying the story. They blame the NSC!!! This is well coordinated.

“Cooper continued: “A copy of my December 30 letter is attached. It is clear, regrettably, from The New York Times article published today that the prepublication review process has been corrupted and that information has been disclosed by persons other than those properly involved in reviewing the manuscript.”

Bolton resigned last September. His team declined to “speculate” to Fox News as to how a description of his manuscript might have leaked to the Times.

Additionally, Bolton’s representatives made clear he was not denying the Times’ claim concerning the Ukraine aid holdup and the possible investigation of the Bidens.

    50. Phil says:

      Yeah, that ain’t good.

Sounds like Trump might have made one too many enemies. First MCCain and now Bolton with both coming back to bite him.

    51. SanDiegoCitizen says:

This reminds me of the panic attack that took place on the board in September 2018 during the Kavanaugh hearings. Will say now what I said then; wait until all the facts are out.

    52. Victrc says:

Ok, say it’s true that Trump said I’m holding aid until they investigate this, no offense, but there appears to be a very serious problem with Biden’s son.

If they subpoena Bolton, for sure they are going to have to bring Biden and his son is because we need to know if there was corruption with Hunter or not which justified the investigation requested.

the American public is going ot hear, finally, all about his Million dollar a year salary in a country where $2.000 a month makes you live a good life, especially in the time frame when Burisima was being investigated, and then of course his china dealings etc

    53. Skippy says:

Klobuchar up to 13% in Iowa. Gaining among older voters…starting to take away from Mayor Pete.

I told you all Amy Klobuchar will get to 15% in precinct delegates on Iowa Caucus night. It’s happening.

    54. Big Joe says:

Best play for the Bern may be to attack Warren, hold her to below 15%, and gain her supporters. Probably won’t happen but it makes plenty of sense.

      Big Joe

    55. Sheeple, Jr. says:

Agreed, but it would be nice to hear some denials from the White House, Mulvaney etc. in addition to Barr’s.

    56. Phil says:

Notice how this didn’t come out until it was time for the Trump team to present their case.

Absolute brilliance by the Democrats in the timing. Regardless of “the facts” the timing really blunts anything coming out of the Trump presentation over the next two days.
Face it guys, Democrats and their MSM allies know how to play the game and they play it well. Republicans are No match. Never have been.

    57. SanDiegoCitizen says:

      57. It would be inappropriate for Bolton to comment on the contents of his book since it is currently under national security review.

    58. Phil says:

Agree that at this point It becomes vital that Hunter Biden be called and America hear all about the corruption. Unfortunately, Lindsey Graham says he will vote against any witnesses on our side. See what I mean by one side plays to win and then there is our side. LOL

    59. Sheeple,Jr. says:

      #59- SDC
Agreed, but that is why Bolton’s team is agressively pointing the finger at the NRC. They want to stay out of trouble.

    60. VictrC says:

To be honest I am glad this Bolton stuff is happening now, rather than after an acquittal. That would have given the Dems a lot of fodder heading into the election about corruption. At least now its going to be addressed, dealt with and we will move on.

I stand by the fact that the Biden’s and the whistleblower need to be heard from. This is nothing short of a coup d’etat and a concerted effort to influence the 2020 election.

Everyone knows that this, even if it occurred, is not an event that should result in the removal of a president. It is solely meant to keep Trump from winning in 2020, though, I still see this as having the converse effect. I think it will galvanize his support.

    61. Dylan says:

Bolton is a known neo-con axe grinder He’s the quintessential deep state operative Nothing he says is gonna move any needle

    62. SanDiegoCitizen says:

The bottom line is there still will not be enough votes to impeach, and the seediness of the process will add more support for Trump in the November election.

Bolton was very happy that Trump took out Soleimani; he had previously been concerned that Trump had abandoned the Kurds and was was going to abandon our allies in the region. He is not going to testify in favorable manner for the Democrats whom he loathes, and who would placate the Iranians.

    63. Sheeple,Jr. says:

For weeks now, Pelosi,Schiff,Schumer etc have stated that there was “a lot more evidence to come.”
They knew this was coming and could have been a reason why the transfer of the articles to the Senate was delayed by a month.

    64. Phil says:

Well, I agree Hunter Biden and the whistleblower need to be called. Tell it to Lindsey Graham.

    65. Phil says:

Good point, SDC on Bolton. You’d think he’d be reluctant to want to give testimony damaging Trump and giving aid and comfort to Schumer and company and Democrats in general. After all, aren’t they likely to bring back the Iran deal which Bolton despised if they get back in the WH?

None of this makes sense to me.

    66. Sheeple,Jr. says:

Money is a great motivator. Bolton wants to sell books.

    67. Phil says:

So if he makes money, he doesn’t really care if Iran gets a nuclear weapon? Hard to believe that. Besides, he isn’t going to make much on this book anyway. Doubt this is about money.

BTW, I remember Democrats in the Senate voting as a block to block Bolton’s nomination as UN Ambassador during the Bush Administration. Now he’s going to do Chuckie and the libs a solid? Kind of hard to believe if you ask me.

    68. Sheeple,Jr. says:

Just this morning, I thought about the toxic way Bolton, especially by Biden, was treated when Bush 45 nominated him for UN Ambassador.
Republicans like being punching bags. Look at the instant forgiveness Murkowski and Collins gave the House impeachment managers after all Republicans were called traitors and rubes.
As you say, the Democrats play to win.

    69. VictrC says:

I agree with Jason, let’s wait for it all to come out.

I am sure that they released the best of what they had today, and to be frank, if that is all the book said, then they really have nothing.

I also agree that for Bolton the worst thing that could happen is for a Dem to become President as they are the antithesis of what he believes in foreign policy. He absolutely abhors the Dems.

Kavanaugh is sitting on the bench. Trump won’t be removed. I believe that this may even come back to hurt the Dems in the long run. Americans are getting sick of these dirty tricks they are pulling. This might play in NYC and CA, but I don’t know how it plays with the blue collar voter in PA, MI and WI.

    70. Tgca says:

Bolton is not going to make tons on this book. Most folks don’t know who he is and most folks don’t buy books from policy staff. If he goes in and sinks Trump, he will sink himself worse, and he opens the doors to sink Biden as well. I just don’t see him being that dumb. Imagine if this caused Trump to lose the election, Bolton would be as welcomed in the GOP as a bad case of genital herpes.

Also, I doubt Barr would lie about anything to protect Trump or anyone knowing all the spotlight on these issues. He has a long respected and distinguished career, whereas, Bolton has been known to be difficult within those that follow politics, and he’s trying to sell a book like many in DC do after they’re out of power.

I think as usual, some here are over-reacting without seeing all the info. This is a cycle here where some go off the deep end every time some negative news comes out. Get on some meds dammit!!!

    71. michael corleone says:

Can someone explain to me why a quid pro quo is wrong even if there was one? Biden’s son engaged in prima facie corrupt behavior. The President could not trust the DOJ careerists to investigate fairly any matter touching a high profile Dem, as the entire civil servant leadership has proven corrupt and willing to lie to courts and manufacture evidence to harm Trump associates.

The corrupt activity of Hunter took place in Ukraine. Trump has an obligation to investigate corruption under treaty obligations and may condition aid on foreign actors’ behavior pursuant to his Article II powers.

The only way ANYONE would ever get information about Biden’s corrupt behavior would be from the Ukraine, and one of the only pieces of leverage to get the Ukrainians to provide such information would be to withhold aid. So I don’t see an issue here at all – and we know if the shoe was on the other foot and DJT’s son engaged in similar behavior, the MSM would be demanding the President withhold aid in order to get information.

This is very different from Trump cold calling a foreign adversary to get information on an opponent, which is how Schiff makes it sound. But we know only the Ds did that — see Steele dossier.

The point is no one gives a s__ about this story and certainly don’t think we should impeach the President because Biden was corrupt.

    72. jason says:

Anyone think Trump will be convicted can make a fortune at Predictit…

Odds are 92% no, 8% yes. It actually dropped from 9% to 8% in the last hour.

    73. Tgca says:

The GOP is not sitting back idle on the impeachment. They are taking the right route and not being hysterical and blatantly overtly histrionic as the Dems were because the GOP thinks this will contrast them with the Dems lunacy, and make them look more calm and adult-like to indies.

Also, Collins and Murkowski are just trying to show they’re being open-minded and well aware that the Dems are slime so I don’t see this as anymore than them trying to show they take the higher road. My gut tells me they already know how they will vote. Now Mitt is another story. He wants to just be relevant and playing like Mac used to do to get favoritism and attention from the MSM and Dems but will also end up being a useful idiot because they will trash and discard him like they did Mac later but it probably feels good for the moment so Mitt can’t help himself.

Mitch McConnell plays to win and generally outwits the Dems on most days so again, I would not fret over this unless a real bombshell appears later.

Lisab, do you have verification for the second part of the quote? It is damming if it is true. If it is correct, Biden may be out of the race, and Trump was correct to withhold aid. I had had a feeling that Bolton was gaming the Democrats. Will see if this did in fact happen.

Remember the snake speech during the campaign. Why did Trump hire the snake?

    98. Messy says:

      26. It doesn’t matter why or who leaked the material. All the publishers need do is to say that it’s real. They can denounce the leaker to high heaven if they want to. So can Bolton and Fox News. no one would blame them for doing so.

But Trump has denounced BOLTON for saying what he allegedly said, not the Times for making it up. That should tell you all you need to know!

The one thing I”m afraid of is that Pence would wipe the floor with Sanders.

    99. jason says:

Messy Moron hasn’t been back seen she said Robertz would be voting with the Democrats.

Maybe she was reading up a little before saying something stupid again.

    100. jason says:

on’t believe the government should be able to use the designation of “terrorist” or “terrorist organizations” actually”

Of course not, they are your friends…

    101. Tina says:

Will the Rino losses call for gossipblower and Schiff to appear as witnesses.

I earned you that without a dismissal, the Rinos would back stab.

    102. PresidentPaul! says:

#100 Seems to be risk off.

    103. jason says:

Bonchie at Redstate thinks the Bolton quotes are being taken out of context,’

“You want to know how I know this isn’t that big of a deal? Because the Times chose not to actually quote the manuscript directly. That tells you a lot about what is or isn’t actually in it given that the Times felt they needed to keep a certain level of ambiguity to maintain their narrative.”

    104. jason says:

The problem with dismissal was there weren’t 51 votes to dismiss. So it was moot.

    105. jason says:

Also, according to the Redstate article:

“What appears to have happened is that Trump told Bolton that he preferred to not send the aid to Ukraine until they turned over materials dealing with the Russia investigation. Let me repeat that: the Russia investigation.

While the Times then desperately tries to tie that to Biden to push the favored political narrative, it’s clear by how this is written that there’s no actual mention of politically targeting the Bidens. If that were in the manuscript, they would not have left it so ambiguous.”

    106. Tina says:

They also report that he has sent the manuscript to several players.

      Bolton disputes this.

I have a feeling this is b.s. with the timing.

Bit Rinos don’t care about the rule of law.

    107. jason says:

The Russia Investigation is separate from Burisma. It relates to Biden and Hillary’s involvement in anti-Trump activities in the Ukraine for the 2016 election.

After all, the Dems are all about investigating “interference in 2016” right?

    108. jason says:

Maybe the defense will address this today. Let’s see.

As I wrote above, I am not sure the timing of this was that great. The shock value had to compete with Kobe’s death. And if this was released right after the defense made their case, it would have put more pressure on R senators to vote for witnesses.

Now there will be a couple days to get to the bottom of it.

You can bet it was presented in the most damaging way to Trump, but there is probably more to this.

    109. Sheeple, Jr. says:

      #102- Messy The Moron
This is who the Bolton team is appealing to to purchase the Book. Messy–have you bought it yet at the full retail price?
By the way, you are fibbing again. In a tweet, Trump firmly denies what Bolton said. How is that inculpatory against The Donald?

Lastly, Fiona Hill was Bolton’s top Deputy. Why was this never mentioned in her deposition and testimony? As far as I know, Bolton has ZERO corroboration for what was said.

    110. Big Joe says:

So Tina, what are we doing in today’s market? Sitting on cash? I’d love a 10% correction, cash has been building up. I’ll DCA a little bit (Dollar Cost Average) but would rather throw in lump sums at the right prices.

      Big Joe

    111. Tina says:

Big Joe, I a, retired, so I don’t buy as much as I used to.

I think the corona virus is the excuse for any sell offs.

Btw, a great time to refinance if needed.

    112. Tina says:

It’s well past time for Trump to enforce a travel ban on China re the corona virus.

    113. Sheeple,Jr. says:

There is a lot of sadness in this write-up about the head-to-heads in the new Washington Post/ABC Poll showing dramatic movement toward Trump since their last poll.

    114. PresidentPaul! says:

I sold a decent amount on friday. Think I’ll sell a bit more today and buy some more gold…

    115. Tina says:

Looks like Rasmussen will have trump at or over 50 today, based on their tweet.

    116. jason says:

“It’s well past time for Trump to enforce a travel ban on China re the corona virus.”

Corey will call it a “Muslim Ban” in 3, 2, 1…

    117. jason says:

Betting markets were unmoved by the “bombshell”.

Zero R senators to vote to convict still at 73%.

    118. Sheeple,Jr. says:

      Rasmussen(less) Poll: 50/49 approval/disapproval. The Intensity Index is -0-.

    119. Hugh says:

The Bolton impact will not change the end result but getting there will no be much more difficult. Very depressing I wanted this to end and it would have by end of week without this. The dems having the media in their hip pocket makes everything so unbelievably unfair.

    120. PresidentPaul! says:

You think the NeverTrumpers will go all out for Bernie for president to defeat their nemesis Trump?

    121. Tina says:

Translated Goober, let all Drat witnesses in.

      Lindsey Graham
If there is a desire and decision by the Senate to call Democratic witnesses, then at a minimum the Senate should allow President
to call all relevant witnesses he has requested.

    122. Big Joe says:

“Btw, a great time to refinance if needed.”

#117- Yeah refinance to a low rate, cash out a chunk, invest it all LOL. Good long term strategy, very risky short-term though. We could go down 20%-40% and it wouldn’t really be abnormal.

#120- Bunu, I’ve been selling too. But I’m skeptical of gold. Seems there are a lot of gold pushers out there and I question their motives. I’d rather evaluate individual stocks based on return on capital and earnings yield. But that’s time consuming and requires constant monitoring.

      Big Joe

    123. jason says:

The “fake progressive” is smarter than the fake conservative.

      Who knew?

    124. jason says:

I can see Bunu venturing out into the deserted streets in the midst of the flu epidemid, wearing a face mask, begging people to trade a gold coin for a can of tuna.

    125. Tina says:

Big joe, I meant solely rate and term refinance, on another note, if neeedd.

I dont believe in cash out refinancing

    126. jason says:

      Gold is for suckers.

The poor bastards that have been holding gold for decades looking for a way to cut their losses are unloading it onto the Bunus.

The time to sell gold is now, not to buy.

    127. Tina says:

While Bolton, like other so called neocons, have been wrong, I do not think he would leak a passage.

If he is called as a witness (queuing Pierre Detestsble), his entire book needs to be turned over.

      He would lose $.

    128. Tina says:

I am surprised that a house R does not just leak this.

      Donald J. Trump
Schiff must release the IG report, without changes or tampering, which is said to be yet further exoneration of the Impeachment Hoax. He refuses to give it. Does it link him to Whistleblower? Why is he so adamant?

    129. Big Joe says:

      “Who knew?

You are a wise man, Jason. 😀

      Big Joe

    130. jason says:

Morons who bought gold in 2012 for $1790 an oz are ecstatic to sell it to Bunu for $1560 now, after years in the $1000-$1300 wilderness.

    131. jason says:

Big Joe, don’t get too much of a big head being smarter than Bunu….?

    132. jason says:

Ok, so I don’t know how to do a smiley face.. sue me.

    133. Big Joe says:

      #131- Tina:
“I dont believe in cash out refinancing”

Agreed. It’s irresponsible. Yet it’s happening. I fear the market has entered “irrational” territory and a major correction is inevitable. Just not sure if it will correct from $30,000 to $27,000 or $40,000 to $36,000. This is a tough one right now.

      Big Joe

    134. jason says:

am surprised that a house R does not just leak this.”

Maybe the defense is just waiting for the opportunity.

    135. Big Joe says:

“Big Joe, don’t get too much of a big head being smarter than Bunu….?”

      I still haven’t fully recovered from being denied entry into the A-hole club. So I’ll take the small victories 😀 😀 😀 😀 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 😛

      Big Joe

    136. jason says:

Big Joe is putting dollar signs in front of the Dow Index?

Give the man a cup of coffee.

    137. Tina says:

In summer of Last year, I did a gnma fund, big joe.

Felt that rates were too high. It has done ok.

It’s been several years since I invested in stocks though,

    138. jason says:

If it not that you were denied.

It is just that there is no room for more A-holes at the moment, it is a tight fit as it is.

We could certainly entertain your application should we be able to wedge another A-hole in, especially since we are trying to be more diverse.

We certainly don’t have any “fake progressives” yet.

    139. Phil says:

Looks like you can add two or three weeks to this so called trial.

Based on Graham’s tweet he seems resigned to Democrats now getting ALL of their witnesses. At least he is now realistic enough to know he can’t get away with his original idea to block any witnesses from the Trump side. Trump will get all of his now. No way rank in file Republicans will settle for anything less. It’s now the circus Democrats wanted just like the Kavanaugh hearing. No way around it. All this will add a couple of weeks at a minimum to the trial.

It’s nuclear war on both sides. Not responding with our own witnesses would be equivalent to the Soviet Union launching a nuclear strike on the US and our nukes being ordered to stand down. Senate Republicans like Graham may not have wanted to unleash witnesses, but they have no choice now. No way the Republican base will stand by and let Schiff have it one sided on witnesses – unacceptable in a Republican Senate.

    140. Big Joe says:

“It is just that there is no room for more A-holes at the moment, it is a tight fit as it is.”

      Uhhh… I’m good.

      Big Joe

    141. Phil says:

So Bunu says he opposes the government labeling any individual or group as “terrorist”

I’m so sick of his crap on here. He makes Omar look like a moderate.

    142. Tina says:

Well Phil, it’s acceptable, if the Rinos have dirty laundry regarding the Russian Hoax and Ukraine.

I am sure they had relatives do the sa,e thing as crack rock Biden.

    143. Phil says:

It’s not acceptable to me, Tina and I know not to you as well….and to the 90 percent plus of Republicans who are tired of seeing our elected Republicans constantly try to “fight” with one hand tied behind their back.

    144. jason says:

Well, Trump will invoke executive privilege so maybe we will only get the Republican witnesses.

I am somewhat surprised nobody at the NSC has yet come forward to dispute some of these partisan hacks that testified for the Dems. Could they all be Democrat holdovers from Obama. If so, it was a serious mistake not to make changes.

Vindaman’s brother is in charge of reviewing Bolton’s book? Really?

    145. jason says:

      Let’s no panic yet.

Who is the 4th vote for witnesses, even admitting Murkowski, Scumbag Romney and Collins will vote for them?

Alexander? He might still want to live in TN after he retires.

    146. jason says:

      Not panic.

    147. Phil says:

Vindaman’s brother is in charge of reviewing Bolten’s book?

Jason, please tell me you got that from the Babylonian Bee.

    148. jason says:

Let’s see what case the defense makes today and tomorrow.

That is more important than what the MSM says.

    149. Phil says:

Agree. The case the defense makes is the thing to watch here.

    150. Tina says:

      Pierre Detestable back at it:

      Quote Tweet

      Geoff Bennett
      · 25m
NEWS: Romney says it’s “increasingly likely” that there will be enough Republicans to vote in support of calling John Bolton as a witness. He wouldn’t say specifically who.

    151. Tina says:

      Anyone not predict this?

Rinos going all in for dr at witnesses.

No requests for gossip blower and Schifty .

No concern for the rule of law.

No concern about being called names by the house managers

      All ready to comply..

    152. jason says:

Pretty measure response, for Trump. However, Giuliani lit into Bolton a lot harder.

“I NEVER told John Bolton that the aid to Ukraine was tied to investigations into Democrats, including the Bidens. In fact, he never complained about this at the time of his very public termination,” the president tweeted. “If John Bolton said this, it was only to sell a book. With that being said, the transcripts of my calls with President Zelensky are all the proof that is needed, in addition to the fact that President Zelensky & the Foreign Minister of Ukraine said there was no pressure and no problems.

“Additionally, I met with President Zelensky at the United Nations,” he continued. “(Democrats said I never met) and released the military aid to Ukraine without any conditions or investigations – and far ahead of schedule. I also allowed Ukraine to purchase Javelin anti-tank missiles. My Administration has done far more than the previous Administration.”

    153. PresidentPaul! says:

TBH Trump kinda deserves all of this for appointing John Bolton in the first place.

    154. DW says:

“MSNBC’s Sunday anchor Alison Morris made easily the worst reporting gaffe in 2020.

While interviewing sports journalists about the tragic and untimely death of Kobe Bryant, Morris somehow mixed up the “Los Angeles Lakers” with what sounded to viewers like the “Los Angeles N*ggers.”

What probably happened here is the journalist has only a loose knowledge of NBA team names, specifically the ones in the big markets on the east coast and a few on the left coast. While the phrase was being spoken, After “Los Angeles” was said, “Knicks” came to mind but while saying “Kni-” she realized that was wrong and it was the Lakers, so she tried to fix it and said “-kers” which together came out as “knikers” and with the starting k being silent and the middle k easily sounding similar to a g, it was a very unfortunate gaffe.

    155. PresidentPaul! says:

      ” We could go down 20%-40% ”

That would be recession level. I think pullback maybe a prolonged pullback but not that much.

I’m a big believer in that we have never had a recession while the Fed is easing. We would have to have tightening to have that much of a pullback and I’m certainly not selling everything.

    156. jason says:

Taking financial advice from Bunu is like taking cooking classes from Jeffrey Dahmer.

    157. Tina says:

The Maine Chicklet wants Bolton now.

So, it’s Pierre ans Chicklet and planned parenthood.

I warned about the “only” witnesses they “wanted.”

    158. jason says:

John Kerry admits what we all knew…

“John Kerry on Ukrainian Prosecutor Viktor Shokin’s ousting: “I know what happened with respect to that crooked prosecutor in Ukraine because all of us in the Obama administration were making the calls & telling them he’s got to go… Joe Biden just happened to be capable.”

    159. dblaikie says:

Another nothing burger. It is in the transcript of the call. Trump was concerned about corruption in Ukraine and suspected the Biden’s were involved.

However witnesses don’t scare me. If Pierre has his way bring them on. All of them.

    160. SweatyToothedMadman says:

Phil, you claimed yesterday that Kavanaugh’s nomination was going “smoothly” before last-minute chaos. NO SCOTUS nomination goes smoothly anymore – chaos or not.

    161. Phil says:

So we get four witnesses from their side and we get none. That scares me plenty.

    162. SweatyToothedMadman says:

Trump is to blame for his predicament in this respect: his utter failure to quickly replace Obama holdovers. Hell, the whistleblower is a Dem hack who was running around the Trump WH two years into his admin??!! Epic fail!

    163. Phil says:

Smoothly is the sense that it was a done deal after the usual noise from Democrats on the Jusiciary Committee – and then the last minute rape allegations and all hell broke loose which meant we had to rely on one shaky Jeff Flake to get him confirmed by one vote. It changed everything.

    164. Phil says:

You are absolutely right about keeping the Obama holdovers. What a mistake!

    165. dblaikie says:

If Bolton testifies than Biden will have to. Frankly I get tired of “the sky is falling in” kind of thinking. For goodness sake think. Senator Collins needs her GOP base to have a chance. If she votes only for Dem. witnesses she will lose her base. Please remember this whole sham is political.

I am sure the that Trump’s lawyers will have plenty to say about all of this. So far we have only been in the wind tunnel of the media.

    166. SweatyToothedMadman says:

      I concur.

    167. Phil says:

Good point about Collins needing her base forcing her to vote in favor of Trump witnesses.

    168. Tina says:

      Rinos got to rino.

      Lawless r.

    169. Tina says:

And mitchie May have screwed the pooch.

Clinton imoeachment allowed no new witnesses.

While witnesses were called, they were not new ones.

    170. jason says:

Also in Clinton trial no live witnesses, they were deposed.

    171. dblaikie says:

I bet the same thing will happen here — if there are witnesses. They will be taken in deposition. Neither side, nor those who believe in the decorum of the Senate will allow the spectacle of live witnesses.

One other thing to consider — if the Senate overrides executive privilege than that will open the door to people who support Trump in the Administration. Pompeo and Mulvainy need to testify if Bolton is called. So does Biden. So does Hunter. So does the whistle blower.

    172. Phil says:

…yeah, Jason, but that was a trial. This is a circus. Not sure how Schiff got control of the Republican Senate but that’s exactly where we are.

    173. dblaikie says:

I would offer this one crumb of comfort for the hand wringers like Tina. Today we are going to hear a ton of why Trump believed that the Bidens were involved in corruption. That has always been the Achilles heal of the Dems. If there is evidence of this the whole house of Impeachment collapses.

    174. dblaikie says:

Schiff doesn’t have control of the Senate. Today the Trump lawyers have control. People need to take a deep breath.

    175. dblaikie says:

One more thing, why do folks continue to treat stuff given by “anonymous sources” to the NYT as fact. How many times have they been proved as inaccurate about what is really going on?

    176. dblaikie says:

Finally, it is my belief that at least three moderate Senators want to have a reason not to call witnesses. Today will be an interesting day.

    177. dblaikie says:

This is interesting. Rather than calling in Bolton they will call in his manuscript. Sort of makes sense.

    178. SweatyToothedMadman says:

      179-182, correct.

      Chill, Phil.

    179. Phil says:

Executive privilege won’t be overridden by the Senate. No way courts are going to allow executive privilege to be done away with and that’s not going to happen.

Trump will invoke it and the Democrats will be able to claim that he’s using it to cover up. It gives them the campaign issue. That’s what all this is all about.

    180. Tina says:

      It never ends…

DW, Hillary won DE by the same margin as she won NJ and CT by (13%) and by only slightly less than she won RI by (14%).

The problem Trump or any Republican will have in DE is as follows:

Republicans control the state’s sparsely populated two southern counties while Democrats have a decisive advantage in the vote-rich nothern most county, New Castle.

Aside from that, Christine O’Donnell did massive damage to the GOP brand in the state a decade ago in her ill-fated final Senate run. The DEGOP has been a running joke in the state ever since. There’s no significant party infrastructure, and the high black population coupled with the yuppie white liberals thriving in New Castle makes it unlikely Republicans will win anything of note in the state in the near future.

A quote from a recent Salt Lake City Tribune article:

“A Morning Consult poll shows an 18 percent drop of Romney’s approval rating among Republicans in the last four months of 2019 as compared to the quarter before that. And 9% of independents swung to disapproving of Romney quarter over quarter, the poll found.
A majority of Utah Republicans still back Romney — 57% in the last four months of 2019 — but that’s down from 65% the prior quarter.
Romney, a freshman, got a bump with Democrats late last year, with 46% of them approving of him in the fourth quarter compared to 42% the months before.”

Religion is a major factor in political party divisions in Utah. Hillary carried the non-Mormon vote in Utah in 2016. About 2/3 of Utah voters are Mormon, and they vote heavily Republican (often 80% and over). If Romney’s poll numbers among Republicans is falling that much, he likely is losing a lot of LDS support — he is beginning to alienate his political base. Being wishy-washy on impeachment may hurt him further.

The Kavanaugh allegations were completely unproven. Nobody was ever able to place him in a room with his accuser at any time at any place in his life. The evidence indicated that there was no case against Kavanaugh.

With Trump? The facts are not in dispute. He admitted what he did. We also know who the people were who were “in the room” with him and who had direct knowledge. John Bolton is certainly one of those people. So, if he speaks, and if Trump did nothing wrong, he would exonerate Trump right?

Somehow though, you folks know that is not what will happen which is why you want to hide him away.

Thank goodness for Mitt Romney, the leader of the real Republican Party.

    235. NYCmike says:

-When the trial comes and the jury has to decide who the “deadender” is, this statement will be Exhibit A.

    239. CG says:

Everyone with a brain in their head knows that Hunter Biden is a ne’er do well and embarrassment to his father. By his own admission, he made a huge mistake taking the job at Burisma. He is correct. If someone wants to use any of this as a reason why Biden should not be President, that’s fair game.

However, none of that is an excuse for the current President of the United States to abuse his office and endanger national security and the very survival of an ally while they are in war with an adversary to dig up “dirt” strictly for political reasons.

If there was any indication that either Biden had done anything remotely illegal though, our own Justice Department could have looked into it. Instead, he called on Rudy Giuliani as an unaccountable secret agent. Many around Trump knew this was a big problem and they sought to hide it away as soon as he got off his “perfect call.”

Remember, Trump said the Ukranians did not actually have to investigate anything, they just had to “announce” they were. He cared about politics, not corruption, and in doing so, corrupted his own office.

It is still quite likely that he will be acquitted of course. With each passing day a Censure probably becomes more likely though. That will not please him. Trump is very much in danger for reelection, but if the Democrats are dumb enough to nominate Bernie, he may very well win again.

Irregardless, history will not be kind to Trump and those who enabled him.

Did you ever make a comment on HHR about Obama’s aid package to the Ukraine?

    247. Tina says:

They hit Biden so hard that Pierre Detestable aka Amoral Scumbag was collateral damage.

    248. CG says:

I don’t recall that being an issue.

I certainly agreed that Obama was not nearly tough enough on Russia and that Mitt Romney was absolutely right when he said that Russia was our biggest geopolitical foe. People like John McCain spent years standing by Ukraine and asking for the U.S. to do more to help it.

Now, you have a current Secretary of State who is having temper tantrums and saying “who cares about Ukraine?”

    249. Tina says:

“I looked at them and said, ‘I’m leaving in six hours,” Biden recounted. “If the prosecutor is not fired, you’re not getting the money.’ Well, son of a b—-. He got fired.”

All while his son was on the board of Ukraine’s most corrupt company.

    250. Tina says:

Do Pierre and the Maine chicklet want the Bidens as witnesses?

    251. CG says:

The facts are that the prosecutor that everyone wanted fired (including Congressional Republicans) was not going after corruption. That is why he got fired.

They wanted someone to indeed go after corruption. So, if Hunter Biden was doing something illegal (beyond merely cashing big checks for a job he had no business holding) keeping that prosecutor in place would have been exactly what they wanted.

    252. Tina says:

Can schiffy explain. Why he flew on the same plane with the Russian ambassador in 2016?

    253. Phil says:

Quit reading after “Mitt Romney the real leader of the Republican Party”

I know he’s trolling but I wonder if he’ll still be saying that after Mitt votes to acquit. I guess we will have to stay tuned.

    254. Hugh says:

This will be brutal after the Bolton distraction. Unfortunately for cg Europe loved Obama and Biden. Doesn’t change how corrupt Burisma and Biden are and were. The globalists stick together

    255. CG says:

Next, I am still very saddened about the entire Kobe Bryant tragedy, especially the loss of three young people.

I saw the clip of the anchor mixing up Lakers and Knicks. She definitely said “Knackers” or “Nackers.” It did not remotely sound like anything else. A minor embarrassment for her. perhaps? SportsCenter might not be in her future, but someone has to have a sick agenda to claim she said something different.

    256. Proud Obamacon says:

Yall got Biden Derangement Syndrome! LOL

    257. CG says:

By the way, the very helicopter was once owned by the State of Illinois and used to fly the then Governor around.

Bruce Rauner sold it after becoming Governor and somehow it wound up with Kobe who re-painted it with his Mamba logo, etc.

    258. Phil says:

So was the helicopter owned by kobe? I had just assumed he chartered it for the trip. This part was new to me.

    259. CG says:

It was his. Totally re-designed with his name and logo on it. He flew it everywhere to avoid traffic. Apparently though he had a deal with his wife that they would never fly on a helicopter together.

      This is another Kill shot:

Herschmann just played video of @BarackObama asking Russia for more “flexibility” on missiles until after the 2012 election. He noted that under Democrats’ standard for “abuse of power,” they should have impeached Obama too. One rule for Democrats, one for Trump #ImpeachmentTrial

But as lousy as President as Obama was, compared to what Trump did on that call… no comparison.

Dershowitz: #impeachment requires “criminal-like conduct akin to treason and bribery…This is the key point in this impeachment case: purely non-criminal conduct including abuse of power and obstruction of Congress are outside the range of impeachable offenses

    310. Tina says:

Dershowitz does not look 81 and he is sharp as a tack.

    311. jason says:

Romney is a complete media whore unprincipled scumbag. He is the leader of nothing except maybe MSM sycophants.

There is no “real” Republican party. The Never Trumpers are at most 5% of the party, you need more than that to be “real”.

The Never Trumpers have sold out their principles, if they ever had any, in a short sighted effort to get rid of Trump, who will be gone in a year or 5 years.

The consequences of electing a socialist will probably last for decades, if not forever.

If they were really conservatives, they would realize that is not a good trade off.

    312. Victrc says:

Re Dershowitz, regardless of the ignorant and uninformed comment of Robbie, he has done a brilliant job. Anyone who views this argument from both its legal and academic perspectives can come away nothing less than impressed.

He has done what Robbie’s close Dem friends have not been able to do, argue based on legit, legality and the Constitution. He is 100% correct and this impeachment would do exactly what Madison was afraid of, making the chief executive serve at the pleasure of the legislative.

This trial, if it weee a fight, would be called right now by the referee in a TKO, keeping the opponent from getting his brains beat in.

    313. Victrc says:

      Legit should be logic.

What he has done is presented the law, presented facts free from emotion backed up with precedent, scholarly review and text from the founders. The Dems argument had none of this, it was pure emotion because it was nothing more than a political ploy to influence the next election.

    314. Big Joe says:

“Breaking: Rep. Doug Collins is expected to run for US Senate in Georgia. #gapol #gasen”

To the surprise of absolutely no one here in Georgia. Sen. Loeffler (appointed) spoke out against Mitt Romney trying to get on the President’s good side. The potential primary will be a battle to see who is the most Trump-like candidate.

Georgia electorate is changing. Sen. Perdue is pretty popular. I can’t see a scenario where the senate seats are split. That would be a strange outcome.

    318. VictrC says:

I know I keep harping on it, but what an amazing job Dershowitz did. I don’t see how they can vote for witnesses after listening today. He completely blew away the premise for the entire Impeachment. There is no high crime and he clearly stated how what is in the articles fails to meet the standard for impeachment. If there is no high crime or misdemeanor then there is no need for witnesses. The articles of impeachment are not high crimes. Period. You can not find new crimes to “impeach” during the process. If they wanted to charge him with a high crime or misdemeanor they should have done that. They did not.

There is no such crime as obstruction of Congress and he clearly and succinctly laid out why. He was prepared with precedent, with scholarly writings dating back to the 1500’s to demonstrate what the words meant. He used the Framers (he was careful not to call them the Founding Fathers. I wonder if anyone noticed that) own words and how they argued about what should rise to the level of impeachment, even pointing to text and writing where a number of the Framers didn’t even want impeachment because they thought it was a tool.

The most important argument he made was based on Madison, the Father of the Constitution himself, who stated that he didn’t want impeachment for such things as “abuse of power or obstruction of Congress….I’m paraphrasing” because then the Presidency would be minimized and be nothing more than someone who served at the “legislatures” will.

There is a distinct separation of power for a reason and the only abuse of power is that being wielded by Pelosi and her pens!

322- Big Joe, I could be wrong, but I think the last time a pair of Senate seats split was South Carolina in 1966; Thurmond won handily, but Gov. Fritz Hollings managed to hold the other seat for the Dems by just 3 points, 51-48.

Even Blue MN saw both seats go Red in the infamous Dem massacre in ‘78 (and TN in 1994; CA saw both go Dem in ‘92 even though many thought that the parties would trade seats ie Feinstein would grab Wilson’s in the special, and Herschensohn would take Cranston’s for the full term).

    321. phoenixrisen says:

#326 — The President’s legal team was surgically lethal today, not just Dershowitz. I thought Bondi was particularly incredible. The way she laid out the prosecution on Biden while demonstrating Trump did nothing wrong using effective comparison, strong and clear evidence, and argument clarity was first class.

    322. VictrC says:

Phoenix – I agree with you. The entire team did great today. Biondi, the lawyer who laid out the corruption of the Biden’s, did great as well. But Dershowitz was the cherry on the cake. How can you vote for more witnesses when the charges they submitted clearly do not meet the constitutional level of impeachment.

You can’t add charges. If they want to go back, do more investigations and submit other articles with actual crimes, they should do that. They won’t because there was no high crime or misdemeanor. period.

The irony of the impeachment is that its main political victim is likely to be Joe Biden. Voters are now focused on the Burisma scandal, and the Biden sleaze associated with it. Its inexcusable for Hunter Biden to end up on the board of one of the Ukraine’s largest, and most corrupt, companies. Then to have Joe Biden personally intervene to get a prosecutor fired who was investigating Bursima, which was paying millions to his son, is just shocking. But then again we saw the same type of corrupt cronyism with Clinton Foundation, the Anthony Weiner caper,.. and the list goes on. Its time for the whole Clinton, Obama, Biden clown cabal to go away.

Once the impeachment hearings are over, expect some of the other Democratic candidates to attack Biden based on the Bursima scandal. For Bloomberg or a “moderate” to win, they need to get Biden out of the race.

If this is truly what Mr. Bolton has written, then it seems he is attributing to Attorney General Barr his own current views — views with which Attorney General Barr does not agree.”

But I don’t think Trump can win with 270. Dems will find some dirt on one of the 270 electors and then use blackmail to get the elector to flip to the Dem and throw the election.

    347. NYCmike says:

Wouldn’t Trump win with state delegations right now? Or do I have the process wrong?

DW, and Democrats would find something on that 270th elector at the last minute. The Kavanaugh script calls for perfect last minute timing. They did it with kavanaugh, they’re doing it with impeachment this week, and they’d do it to kill the 270th elector. No doubt in my mind.

The delegates have to be well vetted this time. In PA the campaign committee for each candidate chooses the electors, so faithless electors are presumably more difficult to happen.

On the other hand, the majority of convention delegates are elected. Of the 71 PA delegates, only 17 are bound to vote for the primary winner. I remember trying to vote for anti-Trump delegates, but they lost in my area to pro-Trump delegates. Most people who vote don’t realize you have to vote for 3 convention delegates that support your candidate in each congressional district.

I won’t be voting this time around, although I am sure pro-Trumpers will win all the delegate slots.

A follow up to my post yesterday stating Utah voters, particularly Mormons, are not supportive of Romney’s actions regarding the impeachment inquiry.

A Utah poll came out today showing Utah registered voters opposed removing Trump from office by 53% to 39%, and Mormons are more strongly against removing Trump from office than voters of other religious affiliations.

Romney really is going out on a limb with what is increasingly appearing to be a personal vendetta.

“Though Utah voters reluctantly elected Trump in 2016, a new Deseret News/Hinckley Institute of Politics poll shows 53% oppose the president losing his job, and 40% do so strongly. The survey, conducted by pollster Scott Rasmussen, showed 39% favor removal from office, while 8% are unsure. Trump won Utah with only 45% percent of the vote.”

“The partisan breakdown, though, is the biggest indicator in the poll of where Trump sits among Utah voters. The survey shows 76% of Utahns who identified themselves as Republicans are sticking by Trump, while 83% of Democrats want him out. Independent voters are split, but leaning a little against having him removed.”

“Women and voters under age 35 were more inclined toward removing Trump than were men and older voters, according to the poll. Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are more opposed to removal than were Protestants and Catholics.”
