Ok. So what do the prediction contests start.

And more importantly, what round are we predicting. I’m already kind of confused. What results will actually be posted? What are the final results?

First round I am thinking Sanders might get to 30%. The rest, total wildcards. Is anyone really excited for Biden. Where he might make a move is second round, getting more delegates, but which is the result the public sees? That’s the one which will have the most impact on the next couple of primaries.

Does anyone think that Bloomberg will govern as a moderate if elected, especially with a Dem House?

Let’s see where will he be moderate?

      2nd Amendment. – No
      climate Change – No
      Abortion – No
      Judges – No
      Regulations – No
      Decreased Govt – No
Tax Cuts – No (I expect he would be ok with going to 49% top rate, increase in corporate and cap gains taxes but just not as much as the others)

So what exactly is Bloomberg moderate on? Oh wait, stop and frisk. He’s pro police right. Oh wait, he walked that back.

So, yeah. Basically more of the same. Does anyone think that he can carry PA, Mi and WI? He will need all three and not sure how much a “ill tell you how much Soda you can drink” Ny Billionaire who bought the nomination will do there.

    10. lisab says:

“We stand right at the pivot point as the state that could push one candidate or the other across the Electoral College finish line,” said Charles Franklin, political science professor and renowned Marquette University Law School pollster. A win in Wisconsin translates to 10 Electoral College votes, while Michigan has 16 and Pennsylvania 20.

And, according to the latest poll by Marquette University, Wisconsin voters are warming to Trump. In January 2019, 44 percent gave the president a positive job-approval rating; by January 2020, that number had grown to 48 percent. In theoretical matchups with the leading Democratic candidates, only Joe Biden (49 percent) currently bests Trump (45 percent) in Wisconsin.

“His job approval has inched up over the course of the last 12 months, and [his disapproval rating] has worked its way down from 53 to 49 percent,” said Franklin.

    11. SanDiegoCitizen says:

      10. If Trump is pulling even in Wisconsin, its not a good sign for the Democrats — who am sure will have a unpleasant civil war over the next several months.

The irony of the impeachment saga is the candidate it may have damaged the most is Biden. The fact Hunter Biden followed his father like a parasite with his hand out, gathering millions of dollars, has been front page news for a couple of months. Voters are realizing the Bidens are as seedy as the Clintons. Impeachment was a major blunder in this regard.

And finally the acquittal vote right after the SOTU will be like whip cream on top of fresh strawberry pie. With Bernie the front runner, Impeachment behind him Trump is going to be a huge winner — unless something happens.

    16. PresidentPaul! says:

Down 10 with 9 minutes to go, Chiefs win by 11. Pretty good swing for a young QB and, according to Jason, an incompetent moron coach.”

      My take on the SB:

I bet on the Chiefs because 1.5 points was too low, the Chiefs are a better team and should have been favored by 5.

SF got screwed by the Refs on at least 4 significant plays during the game, but the Mahones TD was not one of them, the tip of the ball was touching the line. In the end, the better team still deserved to win.

Andy Reid is still dumber than a doorknob and cost the Eagles and the Chiefs countless games due to his stupidity.

All the above can be true.

      Bitter can GFH.

    21. jason says:

Biden is toast. The tag on his collar did in fact say, “Best if used by 2016.”

      Huh….. I think it said 1996.

    22. DW says:

23 – good point jason. Biden is way out of date. Trump vs Sanders will be a very interesting matchup. Sanders has the task of convincing everyone in a good economy that the economy isn’t really good, and in fact would be oh so much better if we had communism. The hard left will love him, but they were already going to vote Dem. Sanders has to convince the moderates and independents, and I don’t think he has it in him.

    23. Bitterlaw says:

Jason is now officially a clown. Even MD posted on Facebook that he is glad Reid won.

    24. jason says:

Sanders is the ideal candidate for Trump to run against, presuming he loses big.

Beyond ensuring another 4 years for Trump, a wipe out could maybe convince at least some Dems that they have gone way too far to the left, which would be healthy for the country.

There would have to be a faction in the party that says hey, do we really want to give the party to the AOCs and Omars?

    25. jason says:

MD and Bitter are buddies now on FB?

      Who knew?

Reid is still a fat moron. But I am glad he won too because now I have money to buy beer and toast a GFY to Bitter.

    26. Bitterlaw says:

I have been FB friends with MD for more than a decade.

Reid called all of the plays on offense. He is not a moron. Jason is just hurt that he was so spectacularly wrong about Reid. However, if Jason wants to come to my house and watch the ceremony when Reid is inducted into the HOF in a few years, he is welcome.

    27. jason says:

Early exits look good for Bernie.

    28. jason says:

I was right about Reid for 21 years and 14 playoff game losses.

But I am glad Bitter finally got to be “right about Reid” once.

    29. jason says:

I have been FB friends with MD for more than a decade.”

      Hey, Ma, that worked.

    30. jason says:

Bitter’s dedication to Reid, who was spectacularly stupid in countless games for Eagles, reminds me of Corey’s dedication to Cutler, who like Reid, won a lot of meaningless games but always choked on the important one.

Reid finally came through, he had the better team and great QB.

But he is still a moron. Deal with it.

    31. Big Joe says:

      #2 Vic,
I think three sets of results are being reported tonight.
1- Total raw vote count for round 1
2- Total vote count after voters of non-viables select their 2nd choice
      3- Delegate count.

I guess we could have three different winners. Iowa could provide clarity, or could provide nothing 😀

      Big Joe

    32. jason says:

I think Bitter and Corey suffer from a football version of the Stockholm Syndrome.

    33. jason says:

Big Joe, the delegate count will probably be the most meaningless. Followed by round one. Most important round 2.

But if there are 3 different results, or even 2, the spin will be momentous.

      Go Bernie!

    34. jason says:

CAUCUS TIME! CAUCUS TIME! Round em’ up. It will be a raucous caucus! I want Iowa caucus predictions. We all know the rules: NO FENCE-SITTERS. Either give us your caucus predictions, or remain silent. Be bold. Here are my predictions for tonight’s Iowa democratic caucus:

      Bernie 28%
      Biden 22%
      Buttgieg 15%
      Warren 14%
      Klobuchar 10%

No one else matters. Bloomberg is not contesting IA. Nationally, I put Bloomberg at about 10%.

    59. Greymarch says:

Its all about beating expectations. Bernie is expected to finish #1 or #2. Biden is expected to finish #2 or #1. Buttgieg is expected to finish in the top 4, Warren is expected to finish in the top 3. Klobuchar is expected to finish in the top 5. The biggest news of the night will be one of three things: either Bernie crushes it more than expected, Buttgieg finishes 2nd, or Klobuchar finishes an unexpected third. If any of those 3 happen, that will be the headlines for tomorrow.

    60. Joe J says:

Ill take a stab at some predictions..

      Bernie 28%
      Mayor Butt 20%

      Klobuchar 13%

    61. DW says:

45 – it depends. If the power-brokers in the Dem party think they cannot beat Trump with the any of the candidates they have, they might just let Sanders be the nominee, just as a concession to the left. Let him be their token candidate, like Mondale or Dole.

    62. jason says:

Biden loses it with his MSM friends…

“GUTHRIE: “Has it occurred to you that there’s a certain irony here that the president has accused — has acknowledged wanting to get information about your son, Hunter, and his dealings with Ukraine. And this process of impeachment has ensured that everyone knows about Hunter’s dealings with Ukraine.”
BIDEN: “That’s a good thing. And no one’s found anything wrong with his dealings with Ukraine, except they said it sets a bad image.”
GUTHRIE: “Well, do you agree that it sets a bad image?”
BUDEN: “Yeah. And my son said that.”
GUTHRIE: “Do you think it was wrong for him to take that position knowing that it was really because that company wanted access to you.”
BIDEN: “Well that’s not true! You’re saying things you do not know what you’re talking about. No one said that. Who said that? Who said that?”

    63. jason says:

I think Hunter himself already admitted that he only got the job because his father was VP.

    64. Greymarch says:

Dont think the Iowa caucuses matter? The past four contested democratic Iowa caucuses (when the prez is running in his own caucus, that’s not a contested caucus), the person who has won the democratic caucus has won the nomination. Gore Iowa won in 2000. Kerry won in 2004. Obama won in 2008 and Hillary won in 2016. The Iowa caucuses matter for the democrats.

    65. mRviTO says:

I’ll just say how I think this would go if you lumped the CDs together.

I think Bernie will win the first round in all four CDs.

I think he will win the second in two or three.

I think Biden will win at most one.

I think Klobuchar or Buttigieg will win the fourth and get momentum for NH.

It is probably a lot less than 1%, but that is what the percentage is for the reported cases.

Also, not everyone in China is going to get the disease, in fact the vast majority won’t, so even if it was 1% it wouldn’t mean a million deaths.

      That’s terrible news.

    113. SanDiegoCitizen says:

Here is the Wikipedia article about the Iowa 15% rule. The determination is made in each precinct. So a candidate can get delegates even if their total statewide vote is below 15%.

“Each precinct divides its delegate seats among the candidates in proportion to caucus goers’ votes. Participants indicate their support for a particular candidate by standing in a designated area of the caucus site (forming a preference group). An area may also be designated for undecided participants. Then, for roughly 30 minutes, participants try to convince their neighbors to support their candidates. Each preference group might informally deputize a few members to recruit supporters from the other groups and, in particular, from among those undecided. Undecided participants might visit each preference group to ask its members about their candidate.

After 30 minutes, the electioneering is temporarily halted, and the supporters for each candidate are counted. At this point, the caucus officials determine which candidates are viable. Depending on the number of county delegates to be elected, the viability threshold is 15% of attendees. For a candidate to receive any delegates from a particular precinct, he or she must have the support of at least the percentage of participants required by the viability threshold. Once viability is determined, participants have roughly another 30 minutes to realign: the supporters of inviable candidates may find a viable candidate to support, join together with supporters of another inviable candidate to secure a delegate for one of the two, or abstain. This realignment is a crucial distinction of caucuses in that (unlike in a primary) a voter’s second choice can help a candidate.

When the voting is closed, a final head count is conducted, and each precinct apportions delegates to the county convention”

    214. PresidentPaul! says:

I think the R-naught is 4, and I think the fatality rate is inaccurate on the low end.

This thing is going to go parabolic.

    215. John says:

Been watching this Iowa Democrat Caucus most of the the afternoon…all three cable networks….
Conclusion….can’t seem to recall the last several elections such malaise, melancholy and disquiet among the Democrat gatherers in their candidate groups assembled.
My guess….as on now….Trump wins this by easily by double digits in November.

    216. Tina says:

I thought that Appalachian Trail via Argentina and the Illinois Klanasman were going to hold trumps feet to the fire

“President Donald Trump is the winner of the 2020 Iowa Republican caucuses, a largely symbolic vote as he was facing no significant opposition.”

    217. PresidentPaul! says:

You can’t look at this week’s fatality rate since those people aren’t in the death timeframe. You need to go to last week which brings the death rate more at as high as 10% with a 20% icu complication rate.

This sh/it spreading like wildfire and it’s more deadly than the media thinks.

I read the ICU capacity in the USA is at 100K. That means if 500K ppl have corona than you’re already maxed out.

These new chinese hospitals look more like prison cells anyways at this point

I think the R-naught is 4, and I think the fatality rate is inaccurate on the low end.

i doubt it is 4, seeing as who has already said it is 2.5

and the fatality rate is not close to 10% since we know that china does not have a million deaths or anything approaching it

there is no way china could keep even 100000 deaths secret never-mind millions

the first rule of bio-warfare is never have a disease that is highly contagious AND deadly, because it would hurt your country too.

that is why anthrax is such an evil weapon, it is very deadly, but does not spread easily, so if you bomb a city with it, you make the city unlivable, but the disease is limited to that city — and you don’t kill your own people.
