Biden Leads Trump by 2% in WI and PA

Today we received two new polls from Trafalgar Group for the states of Wisconsin and Pennsylvania that show Joe Biden holding an identical 2% lead over Donald Trump in each state.

    PRESIDENT – WISCONSIN (Trafalgar)
    Joe Biden (D) 48%
    Donald Trump (R-inc) 46%

    PRESIDENT – PENNSYLVANIA (Trafalgar)
    Joe Biden (D) 48%
    Donald Trump (R-inc) 46%

Trafalgar has been giving Donald Trump his best numbers in these swing states and right now, they still show him behind. The WI poll was done October 14-16 and the PA poll was done October 13-15, both among likely voters in each state.

“Barnes reminding us that 2016 in AZ was affected by Johnson (former NM gov) and McMullin (Mormon to siphon off northern AZ votes).”

Minor correct to Barnes. The Mormon population of Arizona is concentrated near Phoenix in the Mesa (13% LDS), Chandler and Gilbert areas. Also some small towns in east central Arizona like Pima and Snowflake.

Northern Arizona is dominated by Indian reservations, the Grand Canyon, and towns like Flagstaff that have a low population of Mormons.

      – I agree. I doubt Trump can back out of it at this point, but Republicans should seriously consider boycotting the debates in 2024. They were clearly stacked against Trump this time.

10% NV – because they can count 14 days after election day. Barnes himself got TWO ballots from NV.

      ME_02 Trump wins easily
NE_02 Barnes thinks Trump will win.

If there is an upset on election night, CO and ME. Bet on these if there are long-shot numbers as a hedge.

Buy Tillis if he’s under 60%

      Buy AK under 80%

      – Absolutely. Biden can’t speak in complete sentences anymore. If Trump just gives him two minutes uninterrupted, Biden will far apart.

    28. Country Dick Montana says:

“If Trump just gives him two minutes uninterrupted, Biden will far apart.”

Give him more than 2 minutes. In the Colorado Senate debate, Gardner answered a question in one sentence then ceded the rest of his time to Hickenlooper to explain his ethics convictions. Hick couldn’t handle it.

What do you think Biden would do if Trump said “I cede the rest of my time to the VP so that he can explain the findings on his son’s computer to the American people.” Biden might have a canned response ready, but Trump should do that a couple if times.

    29. SanDiegoCitizen says:

      31. That would be a great Trump strategy. Let Biden babble. He would be dumbfounded if he tried to answer a question at length.

    30. MrVito says:

    33. phoenixrisen says:

Trump definitely in the driver’s seat with PA looking at those numbers Tina. Same could be said for MI and WI. The Dems significantly have underperformed in EV and registration compared to 2016. The Trump campaign has to feel awfully good with a strong wind behind their back as Biden fades.

    34. dblaikie says:

Not a good day for dems in Nevada. First of all they only added 1000 votes to the Clark County firewall making it 36000. They need to get to 70000. But another story is emerging the Rep. vote has not come in yet on in the rural counties. With the total of registered voters left the GOP has 64,353 more registered voters left. But here is the news, the Dem. vote may be already in with the mail-in ballots. But most of those 64300 are going to come in.

Ralston, the informative lefty, expresses the fear best from his blog: “The Rs have not yet begun to turn out in the rurals. The deluge cometh.
The question is if the urban mail will continue to flood in for the Dems to counteract it.”

    35. Steant1965 says:

Pollsters should be embarrassed. Target Smart has Sarasota County results right now (only mail-in right now) as 49%D’s and 44%R’s. Only 7%I. So unless all I’s are going for Biden, St. Pete’s has some explaining to do. Enjoy your college polls troll boy.

    36. Scooterboy says:

Cotto- “ Swinging back to Ocala, at the in-person early voting polling station which caters to its urban core, GOPers now lead Dems by 738-413. This, I repeat, is in a city, not in its suburban neighborhoods or in rural environs close to town.”

    37. dblaikie says:

More fear from Mr. Ralston: “If you look at the current numbers there, the GOP rural tsunami is coming — they just don’t like mail.” Please remember the cow counties in the silver state are among the reddest counties in the country.

As Barnes said today, accepting ballots three days after the election will enable Democrats to be able to manufacture exactly the number of votes they need to overtake Trump there. It creates that potential at least.

The fact that the law was simply written out of thin air by a partisan Democratic State Supreme Court When the legislature refused to go along is outrageous.

    88. Gordon Allen says:

At the risk of sounding paranoid, it’s hard not to wonder if the Democrat’s don’t have something on Roberts. I agree. That was my take once I read the commission changed the debate from foreign policy. My guess is they don’t want Trump talking about success with Israel and ragging on Obama/Biden with Iran and other failures and especially Biden China connections.

I think Trump should say thank you for your question and just talk about what he wants to talk about to the American people. If the moderator challenges him, restate his position on whatever he wants. What will the moderator do? Cut him off? Lecture him? That will hurt them and Biden not Trump.

Trump could also use his time to ask Biden questions. Biden is not quick or sharp enough to pivot live. He will get annoyed. He will regurgitate his rehearsed lines.

    221. LivintheDream says:

Two weeks out from the election, it looks pretty clear that Trump will carry all of the solid Red states plus Arizona, Iowa, NC and Florida. This is so much better than 2016 when Ohio was being battled for and Florida was a real question mark even on election day. The battle is now joined on several states, each of which Biden has to win: MN, MI, PENN, WI, NH, and NV. can Biden really win all of these without a campaign and GOTV effort whereas Trump and the GOP is barnstorming the country not only to deliver a presidential win but to bring with him Senators and House members.

    223. Phil says:

Nevada was winnable before the Democratic Governor and legislature put their thumb on the scale. Hundreds of thousands of ballots mailed out to God knows who. Counting ballots received all the way until 14 days after the election. We could lead on election night but at that point Democrats will know exactly how many votes they need to manufacture. There was a reason Democrats changed the election law at the last minute.

    224. Phil says:

I might add that Nevada only matters if you were to win it in combination with NH. Nevada by itself doesn’t mean much.

    225. Phil says:

I still think we lead on election nigh in Pennsylvania. Tough being ahead by enough to cushion against the onslaught of mail in ballots received that Roberts says must now be accepted three days after the election. Democrats will know exactly how many votes they will need.

      Thanks again, Roberts.

    226. Country Dick Montana says:

If Trump wins and the GOP retains the Senate, he should immediately nominate ACB for Chief Justice. As long as Roberts is still on the SCOTUS, I think it would be legal. Perhaps he would be embarassed enough to quit at that point.

    227. Phil says:

We need one of the following:

      Pennsylvania
      Michigan
      WIsconsin
      Minnesota

      Or

      Nevada plus NH.

It’s all pretty clear and Pennsylvania took a hit yesterday thanks to Roberts.

    228. Phil says:

Maybe Wisconsin is now our best bet if it moves late like it did in 2016.

    229. Chicon says:

Still going with the Pennsylvania Phreakout?

      Deep breaths….

    230. PhilS says:

I don’t get where these memes of “state moves late” comes from.

It seems like a lazy way to explain voting.

How does anyone figure out what moves late? Based on unscientific, non-random, mis-sampled polling?

Example – idiots say MI (or other MW battleground state) moved late in 2016. How does anyone know? It’s more likely that the voters decided, as soon as they started paying attention, who they were voting for, and the polling orgs don’t have good enough methodology to capture accurate information.

Remember, Michael Moore, based on his observation in MI, predicted, in Aug, that Trump was going win. The polls just didn’t catch it.

    231. Phil says:

Not only do votes that come in three days after the election now have to be counted in Pa, those ballots don’t even have to be postmarked by Election Day. They can be cast AFTER Election Day and as long as they arrive 72 hours after Election Day they must be accepted regardless of postmark. So sayeth Justice Roberts.

      That’s outrageous.

It’s going to be ugly, folks.

Everyone should be aware of the potential for this to tear the country apart.

    232. PhilS says:

Back in June, Hendrix College in Arkansas had the race in that state:

      Trump 47
      Biden 45

Now they just released an October poll:

      Trump 58
      Biden 34

Of course 4 years ago Trump won the state 61/34.

Strange huh? So here are the options to explain:

      1) There was a radical change in Arkansas electorate, where even though Trump gave them everything they voted for in 2016, they suddenly hated him back in June, but now have gone back to loving him again.

      2) Hendrix College was playing games with their June poll to help Biden look good, hoping to contribute to a narrative.

I will leave it to you to decide which was going on.

    244. Phil says:

Biden won’t win Florida. He won’t be able to steal it either. Florida election law is solid. No late mail in ballots plus The governor removed the corrupt Democratic County clerk in Broward who tried to steal the election for Nelson in 2018.

    249. Stonewall DW says:

Juan Williams was unknowingly helping Trump in his comments on Fox News yesterday…when asked about the Trafalgar Group, and the shocking possibility that they could be right and all the other pollsters wrong, Williams condescendingly piled on the surety that there are just so many polls that all say Biden will win, how could just one pollster see what ALL the others are missing? How could ALL the other pollster not be trying hard enough to get it right? On and on he went trying to give comfort to Dems that this is over.

All he does is put to sleep the very voters he should try to awaken. The Trump supporters are going to come out in force. If Williams really wanted Biden to win, he should have said, this race is close, other pollsters other than Trafalgar have a path for Trump to 270, and if Democrats don’t get out to vote this is going to be a repeat of 2016.

Then again, maybe Williams knows the fix is in with all the planned theft. But still.
